I've made several. One is Sour Beef and Dumplings. I've tried it a few times and each time it's been hardly edible because the dumplings fall apart. Another thing are peas and dumplings and the same happens with the dumplings so peas end up swimming around in a sea of flour flavored water. I can do a great prime rib but your everyday average roast of beef-forget it. Always turns out like shoe leather.
10:03 Get a roasting pan with a lid. Put the roast in there and fill 1/2 way with water. I also add a package of lipton beefy onion to mine. Put it in the oven and let it cook til its tender. Keep adding water if needed. You can makes great gravy out of it when the roast is done cooking. Depending on the size it could take several hours. I know mine is done when I can put a fork in it and twist.
Thanks 10:15. I've tried wrapping them in foil before with same shoe leather results. I think adding the water may be the key. What should the oven temp be because I was thinking maybe to try again and this time roast in a slow oven may do the trick?
Gravy been another disaster for me. I think making homemade gravy takes some practice.
