Gansler & O'Malley Disagree On Prison Probe

Governor Martin O'Malley has rejected the idea of appointing a special counsel to investigate gang activity at the Baltimore City Detention Center.

Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler sent the governor a letter Monday asking him to appoint a special counsel.

"Public confidence in the prison system can only be restored after a full, transparent and independent review with an eye toward holding accountable the responsible public officials," Gansler said in the letter.

"I urge you to appoint a special counsel to conduct a through investigation into the event at the Baltimore City Detention Center."

Of course not, a legitimate investigation would interfere with the Governor's run for President.

If omalley had an honest bone in his body he would not only welcome AG Gansler's suggestion but he would have demanded a special counsel investigate immediately when this news broke.
