Registration Opens For Wicomico Recreation’s Junior Girls Spring Softball League This Weekend

Wicomico Recreation will open registration for the Junior Girls Spring Softball League on Saturday, January 5 from 11am-2pm at Dick's Sporting Goods in Salisbury. Junior Girls Softball offers six different leagues for girls ages 4-18 that focus on teaching softball skills, player participation, being part of a team and sportsmanship. Girls of all skill levels and experience are invited to join in the tradition.

Participants will be divided into the following leagues:

Li'l Miss T-Ball: Ages 4-6, Ponytail Coach Pitch: Ages 7-9 (9/1/04 - 8/31/06), Pre-Minor: Ages 9-10 (9/1/02 - 8/31/04), Minor: Ages 12 & Under (9/1/00 - 8/31/02), Major I: Ages 14 & Under (9/1/98 - 8/31/00), Major II: Ages 18 & Under (9/1/94 - 8/31/98).

Ponytail, Pre-Minor, Minor and Major league teams will begin practice at the end of March / early April. The season begins in May and runs through the end of June. Girls must bring their own glove, all other equipment will be provided. Games will be held at Optimist Park, Winterplace Park, Henry Parker Complex, Billy Gene Jackson, Harmon, Fruitland, Pittsville and Hebron.

The program fee for Li'l Miss, Ponytail and Pre-Minor is $40; the fee for Minor and Major leagues is $45. Registration will open Saturday, January 5 at Dick's Sporting Goods in Salisbury from 11am-2pm. Those registering onsite will receive store coupons and be entered for a chance to win a store bonus gift certificate. Registration will open at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office (500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, MD 21804; Monday-Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm) and online at www.WicomicoRecandParks.org beginning Monday, January 7 through the end of February. Registration after February will be based on availability.
