He won't get my vote. He ran to fight the landlords and failed. He ran to fix the waste water treatment plant and failed. He ran to fix the old mall stuff and failed. He ran to clean up the river and is failing. I hope this blog keeps everyone informed because I'd really like to know what he's done outside of having his picture taken at protests against republicans.
I got that same email and I don't even live in the city limits. That clown wouldn't get my vote. He is desperate in his attempt to gain all the power in the city. He has turned on Debbie Campbell, Terry Cohen and Tim Spies and all 3 of them were Jim's biggest supporters and part of the reason Jim got elected Mayor.

I lost respect for Jim Ireton when he brought Jeff Simpson in to run the fire department. It's bad enough that Jeff Simpson is an outsider, but he has absolutely no credentials or experience running a fire department. Jeff Simpson doesn't even have the qualifications to be hired as a firefighter in the city of Salisbury. Shame on you Jim Ireton for your lack of leadership. Not only have you lied to all the members of the Salisbury Fire Department you have constantly lied to the residents and voters of the City of Salisbury. You Lied and you betrayed us!!

Jim is a decent guy and has the best interest of Salisbury at heart,but he has taken an approach to his position that commands little respect from the public he serves.He is more intersted in winning meaninless political battles than running an efficient city government. Let's face it folks, he is not mayor material but anything is better than what we had.
You think Simpson is bad, you should meet the Public Works director he hired, Teresa Gardner. She can be seen at the GOB regularly screaming at people, threatening them and harassing people. She also just renewed her tags in Delaware, even though she's lived in Maryland for two years.
I'm not so sure any more he is better than what we had before.
On this charter amendment, I like how "Tax and Spend" Tony is lecturing on how the council has more important things to do than change the charter. So he and his girl Laura are going to distract everyone with fighting the change? Where was Tax and Spend Tony on more important issues when Laura was stirring up getting the Lord's Prayer taken out of the council agenda?
The people behind this are a bunch of political hacks, in my opinion. Ireton is just teamed up with the same old money and pols that Barrie was. Worse, he openly beats up on the people who helped get him elected. So just how decent is he really?
Pray for a new mayor in 2013.

I am human and I make mistakes, but I voted for my last Democrat after voting for Jim Ireton.
I guess you voted for Obama and are stupid enough to vote for him again.
Why do you guys elect followers , you need LEADERS.
I might add that Obama is a follower , he has never made a decision on his own. His decisions are made by , the black Panthers , Muslims ,NAACP and Pelosi.
I lost all respect for Ireton when I witnessed his tantrum when SBYnews posed some valid questions to then candidates Mathias and Conway. He definately shows to have not only an ego problem - but also a temper.
Such shenanigans are way out of the realm of good edicate - especially for a Mayor. Bottom line - he really appears to be a jerk. He'll not get my vote either.

Have 6 employees of public works resigned Since Teresa Gardner was appointed? SFD had 6 resign in less than 2 weeks. Jeff Simpson has been on the job for over a year now and no one knows where he is staying. He isn't living in Salisbury. Jeff Simpson's personal car still have Virginia volunteer fireman tags on it. He keeps his personal car in the fire department parking lot. The city should charge him storage space for keeping his personal car on city property.
Ireton is a politician in the worst sense of the word. He made promises that he obviously never intended to keep to get elected. He abused friendships to get what he wanted and tossed aside those who helped him because they believed that there could be progress in Salisbury. He is a liar and a continuation of the Tilghman, Dunn, Cathcart, Insley stranglehold on our city. WHast's in it for you Jim: popularity, a higher office, an appointment?

I agree with you 100% because I am one of those friends he abused. I will do everything in my power to get someone else elected as Mayor. Barrie Tilghman is Jim Ireton in drag!

6 or 7 employees have beaten down the door to get out of public works or been forced out.
Help was never on the way. Ireton just liked the song. Just another superficial act by a shallow guy. He's all about the show, not the substance.

Of course it's true. Members of the fire department have met with Mayor Ireton to voice their concerns and Mayor Ireton ignored them. Now they are being retaliated against by Chief Simspon.
