Should Major League Baseball players be banned from tossing balls into the stands?

There's tossing and then there's tossing.
Should the stands also be completely covered by nets to protect the crowds from home runs, foul hits and badly thrown balls?

It's safer than having a stray foul ball zooming into the stands.

You can't regulate against every possible bad thing.
Donuts would be against the law right away if you did.
And tobacco.

No, one fan dies in the millions that go to games and we ban it? That's what is wrong with this country in first place, we are going soft over stuff like this. I feel bad for the guys family but we don't need to ban stuff now.

baseball is a dangerous sport. safty equiptment should be required and worn by the fans. safty fences should also be in use in the seating area.

ban all sports.

no, this was an unfortunate freak accident.

That is baseball. Pay attention to the game, and you wont get yoked by a ball. It would take away the excitement and be a distraction with nets.

Yes it should be banned.
The only sport that should be allowed is like the romans did.
It should be a sport to fight to the death , christians against muslims.

No, this was a freak mishap. Retrieving a foul ball or tossed ball is what kids (young and old)live for, and it adds to the ball park experience.

In that reasoning then we should ban boats cause people fall off and drown, and pools and stairs? Common sense no longer is a necessity, we have to lay the blame on someone else. Fault does not always lie the the cause. Let me see, I buy "hot" coffee from McDonald's, shouldn't I know its hot. Do iI really need a warning label. This was a tragic accident, but the guy put greed for a baseball over his life and well being. Another Darwin award winner.

It was a dumb Farmin who wasn't using his noggin and fell.... typical of them. Oh, that was the second idiot who fell over the railing this year. Guess what, the first one was a dumb Farmin also!

No,people who attempt to catch a ball should know whether or not they can safely catch the ball, if not, let it go! Why risk your safety and life for a 10 dollar baseball. DUH

My opinion...there should be netting from thir base to first base, and balls can be handed out after the game.

Two "dumb Farmin" huh?Why dont you go by your local " Farhouse" and explain your thesis in person.Maybe you can save a life!

I dont understand why people freak out over a ball? Netting? Really? Then everyone should be required to wear a helmet. Armor too. Warning signs on everything, sidewalks (every 5 feet), cautions signs for meteors, warning for bees, beware of the potential hazards. Stop pointing the finger and take responsibility! Dude dies because he went for a baseball when he could have bought 1 in the shop.
