Today's Daily Times (website) seems to have nothing about the veto override. -- The article yesterday about the veto does not even have a "related story link -- although there was a very brief item on the override vote yesterday evening that seems to be removed now. Have not seen the print version of today's Daily Times.
I just learned yesterday for the first time that they are now charging $1.00 per day for that paper and $1.50 for Sundays paper. I'm sorry Folks but I am absolutely amazed that people are willing to pay $1.00 for that paper when they are regularly 2 days behind Salisbury News.

The Freddy Times: advocate for WCBOE
Jim couldn't help the big bald man!
Uh. . .oh! :o)
They never report any real news. When are they going to enlighten us about the HSB situation? It seems that the DT never does any investigative reporting, only reprints court documents and that is not really news, that is public information that anyone can have access too.
The Daily Times is copy and paste AP articles and that's about it any more.
there was a brief article about the veto in today's paper
the daily times has been a joke for years. I wouldn't pay a quarter for their rag, not 10 years ago, definitely not today. I now live in the DC area, and get the Washington Examiner delivered for FREE, and it trumps DT. I'm amazed that these guys stay in business, they can't be turning a profit.
Stopped subscribing after 30 years (since becoming a resident outside Salisbury city limits). Ever notice how the "Local News" online section has little or nothing of Salisbury or Wicomico County events, and quite a bit off the Shore and from across the oceans?
If anyone remembers when the Times changed from an evening paper to a morning paper they promised that we would still get sports, even if the Orioles played on the West Coast. Now since they moved to New Castle or where ever they can't even get home games that end by 9:30 in the paper. They have truly become a joke.
Gotta read the obits!
10:53---What's the HSB situation mean? What is HSB for that matter?
G.A. must be off today and Joe is back to censoring comments. Some things are as predictable as the Daily times is thin.
What is a "super majority"? Would 3-2 have been a super majority?
G. A. had to take of some family business this morning. As far as I know, Joe hasn't been deleting any comments that I wouldn't have.
REMEMBER - if you have a comment that you think was knocked out unfairly, send it to me.
Anon 1251 -
Typically 2/3, but that translates into 4 four votes (80%) on Salisbury council.
@1056am
irony that you would post that here.
to be PC the times goes out of it's way to find minorites for 90 perecent of their article photographs
What do you expect from the Daily Disappointment.
Most elderly people, and many not so elderly, do not have computers. They want to read the news so they buy the local paper. Why is that so difficult to comprehend?
anonymous 3:12, While many might believe on the surface that your comment might be true, you're very wrong.
Each and every day Salisbury News gets statistics letting us know all kinds of different facts. Beyond that, while we are out and about within the community, MOST of the people that actually come to Salisbury News are above the age of 50 years old.
It doesn't matter where I go, tractor pulls, Sam's Club, you name it, I'm always confronted by seniors thanking me for what we do.
Just ask around. Seniors are NOT stupid and they do own computers. Most would rather come to Salisbury News because we deliver the news faster and we're NOT afraid and or influenced by money or politicians.
Now, that being said, after being around for 7 years now, every one, (for the most part) knows who Salisbury News is. The Daily Time, WBOC or WMDT CANNOT claim they have a larger local audience than Salisbury News.
Now, with the economy what it is today, why would YOU want to pay $1.00 per day for news you could get for FREE two days earlier.
Love us or hate us, we deliver, period.
My 84 year old mother in law gets the paper delivered to her every day but that's because she has NO interest in having a computer.
She doesn't watch tv or listen to the radio, so DT is unfortunately her only source of information.
Thank you for letting us know the council voted to override the mayor's veto. I had not heard it elsewhere. I'm glad they did. These hussy fits of the mayor's are an embarrassment and an expense! I watched the video you had up yesterday, Joe. I was reminded of what you used to say about Mike Dunne's abusive behavior toward Debbie Campbell. Now Ireton is doing it to her and to Terry Cohen. Ireton did it to Louise Smith, too. You were right to call him out on it, Joe. Much as I didn't like the woman or her politics, he had no call to rant and rave with her either.
Joe 50 isn't old by todat's standards. 80 is the new 60.
anonymous 4:53, the MAJORITY are over 50. I'm trying to be very respectful. You'd be amazed at how much traffic we receive from people anywhere between 50 and 70.
As for the commenters, (once again) trying to get us to expose our numbers, it won't happen. We learned LONG ago, it doesn't matter what we tell you or show you, you'll claim it isn't true or we're somehow working the system.
I'll tell you how to confirm how well we do. Just ask everyone you know if they know of Salisbury News. Like us or not, most everyone, (proven by our stats) comes to Salisbury News. Enough said.
Anon 1845 -
Actually, I think they raised the price close to two years ago now. That wasn't the point.
anonymous 4:13, not only did I call Mike Dunn out on it, I have also called Mayor Ireton out on it, (to his face on PAC140 several times as well.
Used to be 75 cents not long ago.
About the post though, I cannot believe Ireton veto'd a budget that kept most of what he wanted in.
What a jackass.
You keep at it, Joe. Men who stand up to abusive men are very sexy!
Anonymous 7:38pm - You hit it with that statement! Joe is very sexy!
I made the comment about the elderly not having computers based on the elderly people I know. From my church, neighborhood, family and other friends, between the ages of 70 and 95, about 1 in 15 has a computer. They have no interest in computers and get their news from the DT. They follow the obits. and would get the paper just for those.
