Seeing a line of emergency vehicles speeding down the road is not all that unusual. But seeing a fire truck run a police car off the road is a much rarer occurence.
A volunteer firefigher has been charged with a DUI after doing just that early on Saturday morning.
Police say 27-year-old Sean Swanson, a volunteer with Company No. 5 in Hamilton, Va., was driving a pumper truck at a high rate of speed on Harmony Church Road. A Loudoun County Deputy, driving in the opposite direction, had to steer his car into a ditch in order to avoid a collision with the truck.

Mmmm , as I age with grace , I've noticed that their are a lot of volunteer fire depts. who condone drinking and promote it. False courage for the heroes !!
I wish these volunteers could spend just one day with "real" firefighters! They have no idea!
Jaycee, First of all not all volunteer firefighters are like this. It is people like this that make the good ones look bad. Also anon 12:10 I agree with you that there still are departments out there that haven't realized that this is a behavior that should not be encouraged nor should it be condoned. I have been a volunteer firefighter for 9 years and my department has a strict alcohol policy and most certainly does not encourage behavior like this. I certainly hope that this individual suffers the consequences of his actions.
