Sources say that for the first time negotiators authorized to speak for Quetta Shura
Secret talks to end the war in Afghanistan have begun between representatives of the Taliban and the government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, The Washington Post reported on its website Tuesday night.
Afghan and Arab sources cited by the Post said they believe for the first time that Taliban representatives are fully authorized to speak for the Quetta Shura, the Afghan Taliban organization based in Pakistan, and its leader, Mohammad Omar, according to the newspaper. The sources requested anonymity to discuss the development.
Omar's representatives have shunned negotiations in the past, insisting that all foreign troops withdraw first.

my spider sense tells me that the taliban fears defeat so they'll talk peace long enough to regroup and then it'll all start over again
Think those drones strikes are starting to wear on them a bit?? They're so scared to go outside, even at night, that it borders on paranoia....we take their picture by drone, and later blow their house up...they're freakin' out by now and are doing the Muslim equivalent of crying "uncle!!"...
Send in Charlie Wilson to negotiate.
Hopefully the CIA will negotiate with Mr. Karzai the ex-employee of the oil industry. Karzai was in the meeting held by Dick Chenney with the Taliban Government prior to the 911 attack. The Taliban Government refused to allow the oil company consortium to build a pipeline across their country.
Luckily for the oil industry, after 911 it was discovered that ex-CIA officer Tim Osmond had organized the attack from Afghanistan, and the U.S. Military invaded the country sending the Taliban Government packing.
The pipeline has now been built (no thanks to the Taliban Government) and now the country will not receive the promised royalties from Big Oil for the land use. Why? Because we now control the country and have placed our Oil Industry Executive Karzai into power.
Take that Taliban!
They should have played ball when they had the opportunity
ya'll really think a couple drone strikes are scaring the taliban into talks? Foolish sheep.
