Did You Get Your Pumpkin?

It might be hard to make pumpkin pie this year. "Soggy fields" and "fungus," the perennial banes of the pumpkin farmer, have left tons of pumpkins rotting in the field and created the very real possibility that there may be a shortage of canned pumpkin this season.

The problem is worse because 2008 was also a bad pumpkin harvest, which means there is little backstock to rely on.

We call upon Obama to release the Strategic Pumpkin Reserves.

If you can't get any canned pumpkin, you can also go to your farmer's market and buy some butternut squash. Roast it in the oven and use just like the good ol' canned stuff.

Sientists from the University of East Anglia lead by Professor Micheal Mann just relased a research study titled "The Annual rings of Pumpkins and the link to Global Warming"
In the study a computer model of Pumpkin life as it relates to man made global warming concluded that the more trips to the grocery store you make in your SUV the less canned pumpkin will be available for sale on Thankgiving eve.
Professor Mann warned that unless we ban SUV's immediatly, there's a chance that canned pumpkins could become extinct.

Is that a pumkin in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

What did the pumkin say to the kack-o-lantern? You dont want to fight, you dont have any guts.

my , my , what a shame. The earth will never be the same. Who really cares?

I went to 2 different stores last night. No canned pumpkin pie filler could be found. I will be on a pumpkin pie hunt again tonight. I sure hope Mrs. Smith's frozen ones are still out there!

Somebody needs a spelling lesson.

Make a sweet potato pie. No shortage of those this year.

Its probably Obama's fault for his apologist attitude to the Great Pumpkin. Is there anything that this half-breed, Socialist, Kenyan, fake-President won't destroy?

I know how to spell. The mistake is a typo.

Fact is that I'm waiting for the envirocommies to try and link the lack of pumpkins to "Man Made Global Warming"
If you pay attention, you will see that everything is caused by "Global Warming"

This time I don't care about spelling. Canned pumpkin extinction must be addressed as seriously as Global Warming! ;-)

Buy a small pumpkin from any farmer's market

Cut it into about 4 large chunks and scrape off the guts.

Bake it for about a half hour on 350.

The "fruit" of the pumpkin will pull right off the skin, cut it up and puree it in a blender or processor.

Now you have canned pumpkin.

If you have it you better save a can if you want pumpkin pie for Christmas.

I pulled the last can off a Food Lion shelf on Monday. Managed to find a stock pile of the smaller cans at the Cambridge Walmart over the weekend, so I bought enough to get through Christmas!

"ALERT, ALERT" (Man in distress), when your making yams with marshmellows and crushed nuts do I use the (walnuts) or the (pecans)? Do the nuts go on before the marshmellows or on top the marshmellows?

Anonymous said...

Use pecans and put the marshmallows on top
