ANOTHER SALISBURY NEWS EXCLUSIVE
Today has already been quite an interesting day but not much will top the photos you've just seen above.
NO, this car was not dropping a boat into the river. The boat was already put into the river. This Dee, Dee, Deeee decided he was going to pull up to the boat ramp and unload a few items out of his car and put them on the boat. Mind you, he pulled up FACING the river, allegedly, (so he claims) pulled his emergency break, got his items out of the car and started loading them into the boat and when he turned around, thought, Duh, Where's Da Car Go?I'm sure you can picture the sound he heard, Blub, Blub, Blub, then bubbles floating in the river.
It took two Tow Truck Companies to get the job done and quite frankly this was quite impressive work. Other Towing Companies showed up a couple hours later because they wanted to see how the professionals would handle such a thing but the SFD did a fantastic job with their Dive Team. They had to first find the vehicle in the river, which wasn't all that easy because they were diving in what they call "black water." This is where it's all about feel and no sight whatsoever. Once they found the vehicle upside down, they then had to attach tow lines to it so the towing companies could pull it in.
Unfortunately the current forced the vehicle away from the boat ramp and they had to do it the tough way instead. I truly have to admit, it was impressive work. Once the vehicle started coming up to the surface, I also couldn't believe this guy was driving around with pretty much no tread on his tires. I can recall back in the early 1980's, Police Officers used to pull people over for no tread. It's a pain in the butt to write such a ticket but if anyone ever deserved one, this guy did.
Now, I'm told DNR showed up early on but then left. I did see them drive past when I was there but they didn't stop. Again, you can clearly see the fuel and oil floating in the water, why didn't they write this guy up? In Ocean City this would have cost thousands upon thousands of dollars in violations.
If you know someone with DNR, please ask them why they would walk away from such a situation. I'd like to know and I'm sure others here would as well. Anyhow, this is yet another Salisbury News Exclusive.

weird why they were not concerned about the sheen on the water. I used to operate a charter boat out of Chrisfield, Once I had a fuel line leak and it pumped about a 1/2 pint of diesel fuel in the bilge, I cleaned it out as best that I could but of course I couldn't get every drop. When the bilge pump came on it made a very, very small sheen on the water and the coast guard and the DNR went ballistic on me, I really thought they were going to lock me up, it doesn't take much diesel fuel to make a sheen on the water and I'd bet my last dollar that there was not a thimble full that I couldn't clean up before the pump came on. I had absorbent pads in the bilge and around the pump and did my best to contain it even though it was a small amount in the first place.
This spill should have been contained and the driver of the car fined and made to pay the cleanup fees.
XtraHam
Fertilizer will eat fuel when mixed with it. With that said they most likely thought with all the turds in that part of the river it will take care of itself. Do the divers get hazardous duty pay for diving in turd creek, maybe Berrie will give them a special thanks on her way out the door tomorrow.
So what Joe is saying is that this appears to be a hazardous materials spill. But I thought they only happened in big cities.
See, our water in the river IS blue; and pink, purple, and green!
So what you're saying is, even though the SFD has a Hazmat Team, they didn't do their job, or was it DNR's responsibility?
No Jonathan, 5:15. What he's saying is, you're just pissed off you didn't even know about it. I love how this guy says he's got sources, yet he never shows any news on his blog. Get a life you fat turd.
Gas is not considererd hazmat. Go read the hazmat materials list before you run your fingers across the keyboard.
the Coast Guard should have been called
Looks like insurance fraud to me!

what about the engine oil, trans fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant/antifreeze, differential grease, etc.
and a quick search shows gas is in fact a hazmat
If gas is not considered HAZMAT, how comeI have to have HAZMAT endorsement to transport gasoline and why do you have to have HAZMAT placards displayed for the proper product including gasoline on your truck? Are you saying Maryland is wrong and illegally charging their extra fee of $120.00 or more for this endorsemen?
How much you wanna bet Gordy will use this incident and these pictures to get his rescue boat
What I dont understand is the divers have Aga Masks designed to keep contamination away from the diver. Why in the world would those guys where a sport rig in that crap? Come on guys get to speed use those Aga masks.....
Didn't Tony teach you how to use them?
Man, I wish we had that new fire boat!!
What I would like to know is why the entire paid fire and EMS crew was on this recovery? This wasn't an emergency and the fire department shouldn't have committed all of these resources to this event. What if someone had a real emergency and they died because the paid staff was committed to this? I there are 2 tow truck there and they are getting paid for their services. Is the city or the fire department getting paid for their services? NO!! The city should not be in the business of dive recovery.
What in the world was this guy thinking? What kind of car was this?I just hope everyone is okay. And about Salisbury now needing a boat what so all of us can pay for them to go fishing and joying riding on that like they did all the time with the new fire truck they got. You always seen the truck on the road but never in the case of a fire .
Gerald Vickers used to be the head of DNR here in the state GOB, I went to school with him but not sure if he's still top dog there.
I agree this guys insurance company should be paying for every single cost of this accident. An accident is an accident, thats why we pay for insurance.
well for one the make of the car was a subaru now it turned out to be a sub a roo after this mess happened it was an ugly and smelly site inside the car
wow that looks like a brand new sti too thats a shame thats a nice car
Man you people have it all wrong. You see Barrie does have a plan she was having the fire department drag the river with that poor guys car. They weren't looking for weapons this time it was TURDS.cor
Hey Chaney. Gerald Vickers has always worked the Forestry Side of DNR. He's never worked in the waterways division. Get you facts straight dude. It's no wonder you failed miserably getting elected.
O'Governor says DNR means "Do Not Respond"
Thats one way to get out of the payments.
Hey anonymous 7:43-
Don't cry about why SFD had "all" of the paid staff at this recovery. For your information, There are divers throughout SFD organization who may be assigned to different units that day. If a dive call is alerted, then they will be utilized if needed and calls will be handled by available personnel at the scene who are not participating in the event. Just because everybody is there, dosen't mean calls will not be handled! So why don't you get your thoughts straight before you comment. You jackass!!
was it not fuel that leaked down at Tony Tank a few weeks ago?
Anybody diving in that river should be wearing full face mask. Probably a budget item. Cant afford them when you have new firehouses and engines to pay for.
Dont look like professionals to me, looks like a couple of circus clowns trying to be tow truck drivers!!! Also looks like something that one tow company could of done not two!!! And if there was other tow companys out there watching them...well they are clowns too!!!
they should of called a real tow company instead of that crook auto medic
yeah I'm not going to do any name calling but Simpson's could have easily handled this..
