PAC-14 manager Mike Goodson is either getting bolder in his old age, or he's running out of shills willing to stand before the public and make a bad argument. Last Monday's piece of propaganda in the Daily Times is just one more case on point.
"Goodson's philosophy mirrors that of an informal group called Friends of PAC-14". Of course it does. Goodson was instrumental in the group's formation, just as he was instrumental in making sure that the board of directors weren't called to meetings. Goodson was also the driving force behind the recent "dog and pony shows" seen at recent Salisbury and Wicomico council meetings.
Goodson's argument is a simple, and unrealistic, one. Goodson wants a PAC-14 that receives taxpayer dollars but is not accountable to elected officials. Goodson also wants cable rates to rise in order to finance a multi-million dollar palace for him to work out of.
Given that neither he nor his allies are able to offer a persuasive argument on the accountability issue, they claim that there will be accountability through an agreement requiring PAC-14 to broadcast city and county government meetings. With all due respect, that is the price of admission Mike. That doesn't equate to accountability with tax dollars.
Goodson and his pals at SU have mislead the public and our governments by submitting budgets that were not reviewed (and failed to notify the governments that they weren't reviewed). They have mislead the government by spending tax dollars on "consultants" that have given little, if any, value to the citizens PAC-14 is obliged to serve.
No one is questioning Goodson's passion. No one is questioning his desire to push for more of what HE BELIEVES the public either wants or needs. What I am questioning is his belief that only he has the answers and that he will do or say almost anything in pursuit of HIS GOALS.

PAC14 is becoming mostly propaganda -- all those shows by Barrie Tilghman and Louise Smith.
A better name for it would be PRAVDA 14!
Merry Christmas, looks like another on point comment GA, the folks at Pac 14 need a watchdog. Simple. Accountablility is my mantra, there is no "free lunch", and becasue the folks "don't care" about how their money is spent (wasted) as evidenced by the lack of participation at council meetings, and lack of outcry at the public forums, I am grateful to you, and Joe, and two elected officials (Campbell and Cohen) for trying to keep them "honest".
As we fall deeper and deeper into recession perhaps the folks around town will begin to realize that persons like Tilghman and her bobbleheads, Shields, Smith have not be accountable, and have spent with recless abandon, PAC 14 has done the same...
It is crunch time folks, better start paying attention, those who spend money like it is water are about to drown the city and the county.

We should all think about dropping comcast when this happens.
Comcast is basically a monopoly here, and the satellite companies are priced to match, unless you are in an area where you get DSL. I hope Verizon gets past the bypass soon.
Pac 14 should not be an issue surrounded by all this lobbying from the so called "Friends of PAC 14."
What a mess this has turned into. And Mike Goodson has made it worst. Sending out e-mails, encouraging petition signing and lobbying the elected officials for money when our schools and roads need more.
When will it stop? Maybe Goodson should look for another job--he certainly doesn't understand where the money for his paycheck comes from.
This needs to be a Letter to the Editor where PAC14 watchers will see it after the original propaganda was published there.
Don't cancel Comcast "when this happens."
PREVENT this from happening by turning out to the council meetings and raising hell! Write letters to the editor!

Don't stop with the Salisbury City Council -- a growing part of this problem is the emerging majority of the Wicomic County Council under the nominal leadership of "RINO" John Cannon, and including the 3 stooges -- McCain, MacLeod and Hughes. Then we have Baiir and Ricky who are involved behind the scenes.
Why is it someone always has to srew with something that's good and messs it all up entirely? Dump Goodson and anyone tied to him!
