War on the Shore Tommorrow!

The annual War on the Shore between the men's lacrosse teams of Salisbury and Washington College of Maryland is tomorrow at Seagull Stadium at 1pm. This tradition is always a hard fought game for the Charles B. Clark Cup which will not disappoint. The Gulls are 17-0 overall and 7-0 in the CAC. The Shoremen are 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference.

Why aren't these birds playing Division I, where they belong?

(Maybe they can't bear losing.)

Salisbury has to look across the board on this one. Two of the major facets of any D 1 schools are their football and basketball teams which bring in the most revenue. You really need to have these teams up there to be a successful D 1 school. Granted SU beats up on many D 1 schools, but it still has to be across the board; i.e. recruiting and competitiveness. You have to have the overall pool of athletes and draw for each sport to be a D 1 school. There is no point of changing divisions when the school is not ready to be able to compete at that level.

Track and Field, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, can and have competed against D 1 teams successfully. Delaware wont invite SU's track team back because we beat up on the D 1 teams.

It's growing and when it is time it will be time.

Being desgnated a Division 1 school involves offering scholarships--D3 offers ZERO money for players, which makes it even MORE phenomenal that SU coaches can recruit players who still have to pay their own way. I suggest everyone that thinks SU should be D1 check into the requirements for doing so.
