How Safe Are Our Schools?

This past week was quite eventful at Bennett High School but you never heard a word about the criminal activity from Channel 16, 47 or The Daily Times.

Last year Bennett High School had some $2,000.00 worth of crime happen the entire year. Get this! This year they have already surpassed the $2,000.00 mark and they're just getting started.

Someone has been going into Gym lockers and stealing money, cell phones and whatever they can get their grubby little hands on. Here we have Sheriffs in our Schools and crime is actually on the rise?

Oh, it gets even worse. Last week a student at Bennett High was arrested for having a loaded pistol in his locker. Did you hear about this "ANYWHERE" in the MSM, (Main Stream Media)? NO! Why is that? Is it because The Daily Times is covering up such said stories? I highly doubt that! We believe it is more the local politicians, (mainly the Mayor) doing everything she can to keep this out of the public eye.

The more serious crime that is reported the higher the ratings go up in Salisbury and it's only a matter of time before Chief Webster is thrown out into the streets because crime will have completely taken over the City. I am completely surprised that the Sheriffs Department hasn't made this information public and it seems the entire system is falling apart.

The Gang activity is out of hand, children are bringing guns to school and nothing is mentioned, children are stealing anything they can get their hand on and crime is up in the City and Wicomico County! It's time for a change and Charles Jannace is the man for the job Folks. Just read his platform ideas and you'll see the guy isn't messing around.

Heck Joe,
Where you been, my son graduated from Parkside last you. You should hear the horror storys about gangs, fights and the like. There was at least one incident last year with a student caught with a pistol, NOTHING on the news about it though. Ask the board of Ed what the persentage suspension rate is for violent incidents in the schools. I bet they won't tell you. I hear Bennett is even worse. Heck Wicomico High was the hole in the wall when I was in high school, now it's probably the best of the three!

Another paranoid nut case. You know why I want to bust on them? I never said it was the Sheriffs Department paranoid commenter. I'm surprised the Sheriffs Department didn't get this out to the Public however. Nevertheless, crime is UP you fool. Look who's been falling off the farm truck, Dee, Dee, Deeeee! The numbers don't lie and I never said it was the Sheriffs Departments fault.

As I do not want to come off confrontational, you people are simply wrong. As I agree that many of our children need to be straightened out at home and parents are doing a very poor job disciplining their children, you want me to believe it's the parents fault criminals are stealing their money, cell phones and personal belongings? GET A GRIP!

The Sheriffs Department is responsible for investigating the crimes committed by these thugs and reading of these arrests in the Local Newspaper is vital.

From what I've come to learn it's a no brainer! It's going on in GYM CLASS! They don't use locks on these small gym lockers and someone is stealing items out of there. Guess where I'd send an Officer every so often?

I am NOT at all stating the Sheriffs Department is doing a poor job at all! You're right, they can't be everywhere but CRIME IS UP, PERIOD! The problem with this community is the blame game that it's all the parents fault. The criminals need to be arrested and labeled as criminals. Get them young and hopefully change their lives!

Jordanese, years ago, the Mayor did fire the Police Chief -- the one that kept crime down. Didn't agree with him on everythin', but he had the respect of his department and it was much more effective.

This one replaced him, and he does need to go, and so does the Mayor, in this ole dog's opinion.
