Report Shows OC Crime Data Continuing Downward Trend

OCEAN CITY — After 2015 set a 25-year low benchmark for crime rates in Ocean City, the figures dropped again significantly in 2016, according to the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) annual report released this week.

OCPD Chief Ross Buzzuro presented the annual crime report for 2016 to the Mayor and Council on Tuesday and the 14-page document showed crime rates in most categories continued to trend downward. The 2015 report showed crime in most statistical categories had dropped to 25-year lows, but the 2016 report released this week showed the rates dipping further by an average of 14 percent.

“The continued drop in crime rates is a true testament to the hard work of the men and women of this department,” he said. “Our personnel work extremely hard every single day to ensure the safety of the residents and visitor of Ocean City and the statistics and accomplishments highlighted in this report prove that to be true.”

Today's Racism: Who's Really to Blame?

By Thornton Crowe

Lately, with all Black Lives Matter activities coming to the forefront, there has been many conversations here on Salisbury News about racism -- promoted by the lynch drawing at SU and the group beating of a white PHS student along with BLM invasion on OC's boardwalk.

Racism is now front and center in our minds and no topic on this blog goes unscathed without some comment that's racially based. Salisbury is only a indication of what's going on in every community throughout America. Obama's divisive rhetoric has poisoned the wells not just in urban areas but small towns as well.

David Horowitz, a former Civil Rights activist during the King era, makes many startling claims in his book, Progressive Racism, which boils down what's really doing on in America today -- the racial turmoil. And, his fact-based conclusion may surprise many.

Using examples based in actual history, the majority of blame for racism in America today is Black Americans and the Liberals (Progressives). The Democrats, under the guise of social justice, are merely using the Black community in order to paint their opponents as racists because of historic taboo implications. However, with the gross overuse of the word, it's gotten to the point where it simply doesn't really mean anything, anymore.

Unfortunately, especially in this election, being called a racist merely means you don't agree with another person's point of view. No longer does it mean anyone actually holds some deep-seated hatred for another race or religion. For example, by sheer virtue, I am a racist. Why? Because I am white and not a Democrat. It doesn't matter that I have Black friends or that I hold no negative attitudes towards any minority group. It also doesn't matter that my academic background concentrations in the Civil Rights Movement history. Because I'm a non-Liberal white, I'm immediately a racist.

Does it bother me? It used to, but not anymore. I know the people who call me a racist are ignorant. They're belching out spoon fed lines the media talking points. Ironically, as we discovered last week, the media is in collusion with the DNC and the Clinton Campaign so that even further marginalizes their rhetoric.

Sadly, they don't seem to understand, they're the only ones name calling. Amazingly, the Black Americans whom engage in race baiting, don't seem to get the fact that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism against their ancestors that goes well beyond the recent Wikileaks revelations about the DNC/Clinton Campaign referring Hispanics as "Taco Bowls" and Black people, "Boos."

Horowitz points out the hypocritical balderdash about wanting a conversation from politicians like Hillary Clinton. In reality, this 'conversation' has always been a monologue, not a dialogue and never based in facts or statistics - only emotions.

Furthermore, these same politicians conveniently forget that no Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act in 1964. And once passed, it wasn't until President Richard Nixon (R) that segregation was outlawed in practice not just on paper.

It doesn't matter what has been done to help them or how many bars have been lowered to accommodate them, they will never be satisfied. Because their leaders won't allow them to move on. Instead they go from cradle to grave believing White America owes them something. And worse yet, the Democrats will never let them be satisfied either.

In short, Horowitz clearly demonstrates the racism is one-sided and Blacks along with Liberals are the now the ultimate racists - not Whites.

The Liberals' blatant abuse of  Black America is shameless. Yet, most Black Americans continue to support them, despite the fact their hope for the American Dream has been all but severed under their leadership. Hence, his argument clearly proves the Democrat Party is the worst affliction on Black America since the days before Reconstruction. Even Malcolm X denounced them before he died, so Horowitz is far from alone in pointing out how Democrats viciously manipulate them for their own political gains and thirst for power. The politicians don't realize or care the wounds they create take decades - generations - to heal.

It's unfortunate Black America continues the Democrats' mythological hate against them because, in reality, we are all Americans -- and we're all in this together!

SU: Inaction Equals Race Baiting Tolerance

By Thornton Crowe

Over the last week here on Salisbury News, there has been a debate fuming over the black students who drew a race baiting image on a whiteboard in one of Blackwell Library's study rooms. Many comments have conflicted over Salisbury University's mishandling of this criminal incident. (And yes, any time one does something to intentionally incite violence, it is a crime.) Since January, we have seen in the national news, many incidents where black people have purposefully tried to incite racial division and violence; victimizing white people. This has even occurred on college campuses by black students and alumni. The only difference is, those perpetrators face criminal charges while the SU students go unscathed for the time being.

Two examples are: Kayla-Simone McKelvey, a 24 year old alumni and self-proclaimed black activist for Black Lives Matters from Keane University has been charged for sending out death threat tweets to black students, posing as white students. Another at Albany University, where three students face charges for generating Fake Hate after claiming a racial attack on a bus, which drew national attention from people like Hillary Clinton whom rushed to judgment only to find the story was completely false.

In the latter article on the Gateway Pundit, it states the falsely accused:
"...student dropped out, likely because UAlbany isn’t a safe environment while these racist and potentially violent students are allowed to terrorize the campus with the support of their biased university president."
In the racial tension environment we now live in, thanks much to DC politicizing and exploiting some of America's dark history, can we really afford to let black millennials get a way with hate crimes just because they're not white? Does this protect the communities college campuses operate in, if we let people try to incite a dangerous repeat of the Sixties? If you remember 1968, then you have a full understanding of the violence and rioting that comes along with escalated tensions.

By refusing to press charges, SU's president, Dr. Janet Dudley-Eschbach is not only enabling and fostering racial tension and race baiting, she is endangering the entire community. As seen by the two examples above, should charges be filed (which they should by all accounts,) it would not be without precedence as more universities and community leaders are holding black students accountable for this malfeasance every day. Yet, SU and  State Attorney, Matt Maciarello, have both placated and enabled these students to get away with a hate crime simply because they were black.

What could this mean in the bigger picture? 1968 revisited? Many students from SU have stated they were not aware of the situation and even when sent an email after the SbyNews article, much about the incident was omitted; like the race of the perpetrators. Hence, this poses a problem because black students will wrongfully assume white students were responsible. Conversely, the white students who have learned through word of mouth that it was drawn by black students will be equally upset for being 'framed' in a hate crime.  Additionally, the black students involved most likely boasted to their friends, "Look what we got away with and you can do it, too." Therefore, while some commenters on the earlier posts may think it's a small thing - a crude picture on a whiteboard - this can metamorphose into many actions when left unchecked. Retaliation violence historically follows up incidents like this where administrators omit or misinform student bodies and surrounding community.

Many community leaders and prominent business people like the Perdue, Guerrieri and Fulton families, have donated millions to SU so students of all races can gain an education. Many of these donors come from the Radicals' so-called, White Privilege. They, too, should be equally outraged as their names adorn the buildings at a campus known for its race baiting tolerance. Perhaps it is time for them to stand up against SU's policy of propagating hate. Other actions for citizens is to complain to the Board of Regents with the University System of Maryland, an organization whom can hold SU's administration accountable to rectify the situation before it becomes a more major issue for every citizen to endure.

Unfortunately, SU's attempt at damage control to prevent perspective students, parents and those in the Salisbury community from hearing about this incendiary situation has failed miserably as other news outlets have begun reporting the story. This will no doubt be far more damaging to the school's brand than any prosecutorial action.

Does the Salisbury University Alumni want their alma mater to be blemished by this type of complacency? Why would quality professors want to work in an academic environment that promotes hate through silence? Is this how we want Salisbury to be viewed by the rest of the world? Enablers of racial discrimination and race baiting?

I would hope my fellow citizens would understand the potential danger posed by non-action and find it unacceptable from any entity in our community - especially the university that proclaims diversity.
