The Real Value of $100 in Each State

This week’s tax map shows the real value of $100 in each state. Because average prices for similar goods are much higher in California or New York than in Mississippi or South Dakota, the same amount of dollars will buy you comparatively less in the high-price states, or comparatively more in low-price states. Using data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis that we’ve written about previously, we adjust the value of $100 to reflect how prices are different in each state.

For example, Tennessee is a low-price state, where $100 will buy what would cost $110.25 in another state that is closer to the national average. You can think of this as meaning that Tennesseans are about ten percent richer than their nominal incomes suggest.

The states where $100 is worth the least are the District of Columbia ($84.60), Hawaii ($85.32), New York ($86.66), New Jersey ($87.64), and California ($88.57). That same money goes the furthest in Mississippi ($115.74), Arkansas ($114.16), Missouri ($113.51), Alabama (113.51), and South Dakota ($113.38).

Our Oil USA

Next time you have to fill up at $3.95/gallon or more, think of this!!

As you may know, Cruz Construction started a division in North Dakota just 6 months ago. They send every Kenworth (9 trucks) we had here in Alaska to North Dakota and several drivers. They just bought two new Kenworth's to add to that fleet; one being a Tri Drive tractor and a new 65 ton lowboy to go with it. They also bought two new cranes (one crawler & one rubber tired) for that division.

Dave Cruz said they have moved more rigs in the last 6 months in ND than Cruz Construction moved in Alaska in the last 6 years.

Williston is like a gold rush town; they moved one of our 40 man camps down there since there are no rooms available.

Unemployment in ND is the lowest in the nation at 3.4 percent last I
checked.

See anything in the national news about how the oil industry is fueling North Dakota 's economy?

Here's an astonishing read. Important and verifiable information:

About 6 months ago, the writer was watching a news program on oil and one of the Forbes Bros. was the guest.

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration sm(EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable( 5 billion barrels), at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

"When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor.

They had no idea.." says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's
financial analyst.

However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves, and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL !!!!!!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years straight.

And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from 2006 !!!!!!

U.. S. Oil Discovery - Largest Reserve in the World

Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world.

It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction.

In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted.

With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore
drilling?

They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth.

Here are the official estimates:

8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia

18 times as much oil as Iraq

21 times as much oil as Kuwait

22 times as much oil as Iran

500 times as much oil as Yemen and it's all right here in the Western
United States !!!!!!

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy. WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East, more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, it has to.

OPEC is funding the environmentalists!!!

How the Obama Administration Made the Situation in Ferguson Worse

Last week, prompted by complaints about his statement of sympathy on the death of Robin Williams while remaining silent on the killing of an unarmed black man by police, President Barack Obama issued a statement about the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

In his statement, Obama called the shooting “heartbreaking” and added that he and the First Lady sent their “deepest condolences to his family and his community at this very difficult time.” He also dispatched the Department of Justice to Ferguson to investigate the incident.

Obama continued, "As Attorney General Holder has indicated, the Department of Justice is investigating the situation along with local officials, and they will continue to direct resources to the case as needed."

Federal involvement has not improved matters in Ferguson. The Obama administration has repeatedly intervened already in the Brown case, muddying the waters and driving justification for additional community violence.

The Kochs' Plan To Beat Harry Reid

LAS VEGAS — Harry Reid’s reelection is more than two years off, but the Koch brothers’ political machine is already methodically laying the groundwork that will be used to try to take him out.

The efforts in recent months have been largely subterranean, but they are unmistakable. A handful of nonprofit groups in the vast political network helmed by allies of the conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch have established or expanded permanent ground operations in Reid’s backyard. Focused on wooing key demographics like Latinos and veterans, they’ve also paid for ads assailing the Senate Democratic leader.

Reid, meanwhile, is ramping up his home-state political operation, quietly moving to undercut Koch-backed operations here, as well as working to neutralize potential GOP opponents.

Hillary Clinton demands 'presidential suite,' presidential-like travel

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may not have announced her intent to run for president in 2016 — but she isn’t shying away from demanding the top-of-the-line “presidential suite” and other elite-type accommodations when she travels.

The New York Post reported that Mrs. Clinton has been traveling to and from some of the world’s best hotels in a private Gulfstream G450 jet valued at $39 million, on various speaking engagements that yield her $250,000 or so in profits. And she’s acting very presidential during these tours, sending in what’s called an “advance” team to check out the hotel rooms before her jet even lands, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Mrs. Clinton — who recently rocked national headlines by claiming that her family left the White House after Bill Clinton’s presidency in debt and near financial desperation — also has a slew of other travel and speaking-related demands.

Among them: She insisted on being “the only person on the stage during her remarks,” the New York Post reported. And she required that the only person who can record her remarks at the closed-to-press events is a stenographer who’s hired at the expense of the host.

Islamic State Militants Appear to Behead American Photojournalist in Graphic Video

A new video posted online Tuesday purportedly shows Islamic State militants beheading an American journalist.

The nearly five minute video, titled “A Message to America,” depicts a man believed to be missing photojournalist James Foley being beheaded by a militant.

The video opens with a message from the Islamic State, attacking President Barack Obama for recently directing airstrikes against the terror group.

“Obama authorizes military operations against the Islamic State effectively placing America upon a slippery slope towards a new war front against Muslims,” the video said.

Then the shot pans over to Foley, who speaks into the camera.

Federal Government Spends $6B A Year On Medical Care For Undocumented Immigrants

A local medical center that treats undocumented children is seeing a costly surge in patients.

Federal authorities say 63,000 undocumented children have come into the United States across its southern border and have been apprehended since last October. When they arrive in the U.S., these children need help, and several local agencies are struggling to keep up.

Sandra is one of thousands of unaccompanied minors who have come to the U.S. this year. On Monday, the 17-year-old Guatemalan immigrant applied for help at Mary’s Center, a nonprofit social service organization that, in Sandra’s case, is offering health care.

“I feel healthy at this moment, but I need the vaccines, because otherwise I won’t be able to go to school,” Sandra told ABC 7 News in Spanish.

Feared federal agency using 'intimidation' to 'chill speech' of pastors
Imagine uttering the words “pro-life” in your church and finding yourself targeted by an investigation from the feared and reviled Internal Revenue Service.

An expert on the First Amendment conflict between pastors and the federal agency, which says it is investigating speech delivered from pulpits, confirms that’s possible.

Daniel Blomberg, legal counsel for the Becket Fund, told WND a recent case brought by the Freedom From Religion Foundation against the IRS raises the prospect of investigations of pastoral speech.

FFRF demanded that the IRS investigate sermons focusing on certain politically charged “code words.”

But the case suddenly was dismissed at the request of FFRF, which said it was satisfied because the IRS agreed to adopt standards for determining whether churches and religious organizations are complying with restrictions on political activity. The case was dismissed without prejudice, so FFRF could file another lawsuit if it believes the IRS is not following through with its promise.

Blomberg said the case was brought by the foundation to force the IRS to attend church services and launch investigations.

Clinton-Appointed Judge Upholds Maryland’s “Assault Weapon” And “Large” Magazine Bans In Ultra-Biased Opinion

Last week’s ruling by the judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland reminds us why it is important to elect U.S. senators who will reject an anti-gun president’s anti-gun nominees to the federal courts, and to elect presidents who will not nominate anti-gunners in the first place.

On Tuesday, August 12, Judge Catherine C. Blake, appointed to the court by President Bill Clinton, upheld Maryland’s “assault weapon” and “large” magazine ban in the case of Kolbe v. O’Malley.

Plaintiffs argued that the bans infringed their Second Amendment-protected right to keep and bear arms for defensive purposes. As examples, AR-15s and other general-purpose semi-automatic rifles are the most popular rifles for defensive purposes in the United States, and rifle and pistol magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are widely preferred for defensive purposes in guns kept at home and in those carried away from home.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Reporter: More Than A Dozen Witnesses Corroborate Cop's Story

This ruffled some feathers on Twitter, Monday night.

People are understandably wondering why the incident report hasn't been made public. Why hasn't Darren Wilson been allowed to to tell his side of the story?

John Hinderaker at Powerline noted:

At this point, those who are disposed not to believe whatever he says will think that the Ferguson police deliberately put off releasing Wilson’s account to see what other information–videos, eyewitness accounts, autopsy findings–would come out that potentially might contradict it. That is unfortunate.

Could the suppression of the incident report be for the same reason the liqueur store surveillance video was suppressed for nearly a week?

Cost To Raise A Middle-Class Child Tops $245,000.00

WASHINGTON (AP) — A child born in 2013 will cost a middle-income American family an average of $245,340 until he or she becomes an adult, with families living in the Northeast taking on a greater burden, according to a report out Monday.

Those costs — food, housing, childcare and education — rose 1.8 percent over the previous year, the Agriculture Department's new "Expenditures on Children and Families" report said. As in the past, families in the urban Northeast will spend more than families in the urban South and rural parts of the U.S., or roughly $282,480.

When adjusting for projected inflation, the report found that a child born last year could cost a middle-income family an average of about $304,480.

Document: Army Preparing to Use Lethal Force Against “Unarmed Civilians” During “Full Scale Riots” in U.S.

Training manual outlines "sniper response" during crowd control operations

A document released by the U.S. Army details preparations for “full scale riots” within the United States during which troops may be forced to engage in a “lethal response” to deal with unruly crowds of demonstrators.

The appearance of the document amidst growing unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, with the National Guard now being called in to deal with the disorder, is an ominous coincidence.

The 132-page document, titled U.S. Army Techniques Publication 3-39.33: Civil Disturbances (PDF), was written in April 2014 and recently obtained by Public Intelligence.

The document makes it clear that the techniques detailed therein are to be applied both outside andinside the “continental United States (CONUS)” in the event of “unruly and violent crowds” where it is “necessary to quell riots and restore public order.”

The training manual outlines scenarios under which, “Civil unrest may range from simple, nonviolent protests that address specific issues, to events that turn into full-scale riots.”

The most shocking aspect of the document is the fact that it describes the deployment of a “lethal response” directed against “unarmed civilians,” including “sniper response” and “small arms direct fire.”

Under the heading “sniper response,” the document states, “Ensure that target leaders or troublemakers are targeted,” in addition to a passage which states, “Exploit the psychological effect of an attack.”

Offshore Wind Farm Auction Begins; Online Bidding Underway For 80,000-Acre Lease Areas

OCEAN CITY — Bidding is brisk thus far on Tuesday morning for the lease of the vast area off the coast of Ocean City designated for a future offshore wind farm with multiple bidders driving up the price for the two different areas in the first few hours of the auction.

The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) opened the online auction for Maryland Wind Energy Area (WEA) at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and by mid-morning the bids were coming fast and furious. Maryland’s WEA is a vast tract of roughly 80,000 acres, of the coast of Ocean City designated for the development of a future offshore wind farm of as many as 40 turbines. The Maryland WEA covers roughly 94 square nautical miles with its western edge roughly 10 miles off the coast of the resort and extending about 30 miles out.

The WEA is divided into two distinct lease areas, a northern lease area and a southern lease area. In July, BOEM announced the final sale notice for the two vast tracts off the coast and set an auction date for Tuesday, August 19. A total of 16 private sector entities are eligible to compete in the bidding process. The 16 companies underwent a rigorous review process and BOEM has determined they are all legally, technically and financially qualified to participate in the lease sale.

HELP US CLOSE THE 6 POINT GAP!

In the past few days several polls show that we've narrowed the gap in the Governor's race to single digits - just 6 points apart!  This has thrown Brown's campaign into a total frenzy.

They're starting to figure out what we already know - the momentum is with us and WE WILL WIN.

CLICK HERE TO READ WHAT BI-PARTISAN GROUPS ARE SAYING:  NEW POLLS HAVE THE BROWN CAMPAIGN ON THE DEFENSE AND RUNNING SCARED!

Brown's campaign has changed their strategy and they're now "pointing to the future"because he wants us to forget his PAST!  They know his ineffective and incompetent leadership will keep him from being elected.  While he was Lt. Governor he himself said that he had 2 critical responsibilities:  1) economic growth and 2) manage the Maryland Healthcare Exchange.

Well, under Brown's "leadership" we are ranked 49 out of 50 states in economic growth and we wasted over $125 Million on a failed healthcare website.  BOTTOM LINE:  Brown doesn't deserve a promotion and a VERY large majority of Marylanders don't want to give him one!

Marylanders know that we need fiscal restraint. We need to stop syphoning off our dedicated funds for pet-projects and programs that are for a select few and ultimately make life harder for struggling Maryland families. We need to STOP raising taxes and creating new ones on a whim.

We need relief and solutions and that's exactly what Maryland is going to get when I am Governor!

We will win and together we will change Maryland for the better!
DONATE NOW!

Thank you for your support,

Detroit Police Chief: Armed Citizens Fighting Off Crime

Detroit Police Chief James Craig says his suggestion last January that law-abiding residents should arm themselves has helped cut crime in his struggling city.

Craig pointed out that crime statistics have dropped overall, but admitted there is no way to know for certain how many crimes were not committed because a potential criminal feared facing an armed citizen.

There have been 37 percent fewer robberies so far in 2014 than the same period in 2013, 22 percent fewer break-ins, and 30 percent fewer carjackings, The Detroit News reports.

Studies have differed on whether armed citizens deter crime, the News reported.

Detroit resident Al Woods told the paper he believes guns in people's homes deter crime. Woods says he is a reformed criminal and now an anti-violence advocate.

"If I was out there now robbing people these days, knowing there are a lot more people with guns, I know I’d have to rethink my game plan," the 60-year-old Woods said.

Occupation Forces

When I was growing up in Berlin, after the war (World War II), we lived in the American sector and the American soldiers were everywhere—on the streets, in the cafes. No one wanted them there, but whenever we made disparaging remarks, our own authorities tell us we must not do this. They tell us the Americans can do what they like and we just have to accept it. So, we stop using the words, “Yankee” and “American.” They are the occupying forces, just like the Romans were at one time, so, amongst ourselves, we refer to them as “the Romans.” So, we talk freely in the cafes about the “Romans” and the American soldiers don’t know that we mean them.

The snippet above was from taken from a conversation I had recently in a café with Klaus, a German who is now in his late sixties. He had a long career as a pilot for the German air force and had been stationed in many countries. In spite of his own career as an “occupier,” he never got over the resentment he had for the occupation of his homeland by American troops. (Berlin was occupied from 1945 to 1994.)

The US is unique in the world with regard to occupation. It has been estimated that the US has over 325,000 military personnel in over 1,000 overseas military bases in more than 150 countries, but statistics are widely conflicting.

Generally, the American troops arrive to deal with some sort of conflict (either invited or uninvited), but unlike most other armies, they tend to remain for a long time beyond the stated “need.”

There are those who praise this policy, stating that the US “keeps the world safe for democracy;” however, the US is known (at least to us outsiders) as a country that typically routs elected governments, installs corrupt and ineffectual puppet leaders, and seeks to control the occupied country as a satellite state.

There are three major downsides to this policy:

REMINDER: Coffee With Your Council Tomorrow Evening

When cops play soldier

Your friendly neighborhood policeman is becoming your not-so-friendly neighborhood Army Ranger. The riots in Ferguson, Mo., a small suburb of St. Louis, have demonstrated to a surprised public that the typical cop has weapons that only a few armies in the world can boast.

A review of photographs and videos shows that police in Ferguson confronted rioters decked out in Kevlar vests, night-vision goggles and helmets, and armed with AR-15 and M4 semi-automatic rifles, grenade launchers and fighting knives. The cops looked ready to take Omaha Beach. Most of the heavy weaponry, in fact, came from the Pentagon.

Included in the haul recently delivered to Ferguson and St. Louis County police includes, according to Defense Department documents reviewed by ABC News, “six .45-caliber pistols, 12 rifles, two sight reflexes, one explosive-ordnance disposal robot, one helicopter, seven utility trucks, three trailers, one motorized cart, one pair of elbow pads, one pair of kneepads, one industrial-strength face shield, and two night-vision viewers and computers.”

The Belligerent Drunk Trying To Destroy Rick Perry

The “I” word — everyone has been told to stay away from it and never mention it because it’s political suicide. They say mentioning the “I” word is a losing battle and will cause a loss of focus. Some have tried so hard to avoid the “I” word that they’ve pursued other means by which to make the point of unconstitutional behavior by the head of the executive branch.

I must once again remind the Republican Party of the words of retired U.S. Marine First Sergeant Jim Reifinger: “If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, it is because your tactics suck.” Particularly when dealing with progressive socialists who follow the Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals” playbook, you find yourself dealing with people who have no character, standards, and especially NO RULES.

Six Flags Sorry For Shirt Ban

TRENTON, N.J. — A former Marine who wasn’t allowed into an amusement park because he was wearing a shirt with a red, white and blue rifle pictured on it has been given an apology.

Mario Alejandro, who served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, received a phone call from Six Flags Great Adventure President John Fitzgerald on Saturday apologizing, and he accepted,

Alejandro, a 33-year-old father of three from Woodbridge, New Jersey, said he went to the park with his family on Aug. 9 wearing the shirt, which was a Father’s Day gift and was bought from a nonprofit that supports Marines. He said a security guard told him the shirt, which included the phrase “Keep calm and return fire,” was offensive and he had to change it or cover it if he wanted to go into the park, located in Jackson.

Young Black Men in the Crosshairs

And it’s mostly other young black men who are targeting them.

I don’t know what happened in Ferguson, Mo., between the cop and the kid. And neither do you. When I covered hard news, I saw cops who crossed the line and I saw kids who started trouble. So let’s not jump to conclusions.

But what do you think the reaction in Ferguson would have been if the kid who got shot had been black and so was the cop? Or if the kid was white and the cop was black — or white? Do you think there would have been demonstrations and riots and an onslaught of national media?

In a column I recently wrote about the trouble in Gaza, I quoted Victor Davis Hanson (from a piece on NRO) on how the sophisticates in Europe and America wail when Israelis kill Arabs who wage war on them, but are silent when Arabs kill Arabs: “Apparently the West, in racist fashion, assumes that killing one another is what Arabs do best. But when Israelis kill those who wish to kill them, outrage follows.”

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND PUBLIC HEALTH REPORT AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS

The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene contracted with the University of Maryland School of Public Health, Institute for Applied Environmental Health (MIAEH) to study the potential public health impacts of natural gas development and production in the Marcellus Shale in Western Maryland. This project is part of Governor O'Malley's Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative and was funded by the State. The preliminary results of this independent study were presented on June 28, 2014 at Garrett Community College, and the final results were presented to the Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative Advisory Commission at its August 18, 2014, meeting. Representatives of MIAEH will attend the Commission’s September 15, 2014 meeting to answer questions.

Comments on the Report Will be Accepted Through October 3

According to the Executive Summary: “Our assessments of potential health impacts are not predictions that these effects will necessarily occur in Maryland, where regulation is likely to be stricter than in some states where [unconventional natural gas development and production] is already underway. Rather, we provide assessments of the impacts that could occur and that need to be addressed by preventive public health measures if and when drilling is allowed.”

This report provides information and recommendations on important issues that will have a direct bearing on the decision whether to allow Marcellus Shale gas development and, if so, with what measures to protect human health.

The report contains 52 recommendations for addressing the potential risks to public health. Many of them match the recommendations in the interim final best practices report that Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources released on July 11, 2014. Others are new. All will be carefully considered as MDE and DNR, in consultation with an Advisory Commission, complete the work of the Marcellus Shale Safe Drilling Initiative.

Hillary, Obama Meeting 'Freeze-a-thon'

President Barack Obama and his former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were supposed to have hugged it out and made up when they both attended a party on Martha's Vineyard last week, but Clinton biographer Ed Klein says no such thing happened.

Instead, Klein writes in the New York Post, the meeting was "a tense, awkward freeze-a-thon."

Clinton and Obama were both on hand for the 80th birthday party of Ann Dibble Jordan, wife of Vernon Jordan, a former aide to President Bill Clinton.

According to Klein, Hillary Clinton and Obama were seated near each other, but did not speak. The Clintons and Obamas went out of their way to avoid each other, Klein said.

Ex-DOJ official: Federal charges coming in Ferguson

Eric Holder sees everything 'through prism of race, even when race isn't a factor'

Federal charges will be filed in the shooting death of Michael Brown, regardless of what local prosecutors do, according to a former Justice Department official who warns politicizing of the justice system is at an all-time high.

Hans von Spakovsky, who served in the civil rights division of the Justice Department during the George W. Bush administration, is now a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation and co-author of the new book, “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department.”

He says the Obama administration’s track record on deciding which cases to prosecute and Friday’s Texas indictment of Gov. Rick Perry are just the latest evidence that ideology is driving the justice system at multiple levels of government.

“Eric Holder has completely politicized the Justice Department,” said von Spakovsky. “As we can see, unfortunately, this is happening in other places like the Travis County (Texas) D.A.’s office. That should concern every American. I don’t care what their political background is because that is a threat to everyone’s liberty and everyone’s freedom when that kind of power is used for political purposes.”

Unoccupied DART Bus Struck by Gunfire in Millsboro

Millsboro - Troopers are investigating an incident in which a DART bus was struck by gunfire over the weekend in Millsboro.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at approximately 5:41 a.m. as a DART bus operated by the 50 year old male DART employee, was traveling eastbound on Mount Joy Road west of Doc Frame Road, Millsboro. Do Your Kids Ignore Your Calls? There’s an App for That

Want your kids to start picking up your calls? Well, there’s an app for that.

Texas mom Sharon Standifird developed an app called “Ignore No More,” which allows parents to control their teens’ smartphones when they don’t pick up their parents’ calls.

Using the app, parents can lock their kids’ smartphones remotely until the kids call back. Emergency calls can still be placed when the phone is locked.

Standifird, a hero to parents and perhaps now public enemy #1 of many teens out there, joined Elisabeth Hasselbeck this morning with her son.

Md. police receive millions in military gear

Long-standing Pentagon program draws scrutiny after Missouri shooting

Local police departments in Maryland have received more than $12 million in excess equipment from the U.S. military — from a $400,000 "mine-resistant vehicle" to a set of a dozen spoons valued at $3.06 apiece — through a federal program that has come under bipartisan scrutiny.

In all, local law enforcement agencies in the state have received more than 2,000 assault rifles, 873 semi-automatic handguns and 220 12-gauge shotguns from the Department of Defense Excess Property Program since 2006, according to Pentagon data made public Friday.

Unused military equipment has flowed freely to police for years, but the practice received renewed attention last week after officers were seen in Ferguson, Mo., wearing camouflage and driving armored vehicles. Police and residents in Ferguson have clashed after the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, on Aug. 9.

The images prompted calls from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill to review the program.

"Congress established this program out of real concern that local law enforcement agencies were literally outgunned by drug criminals," said Sen. Carl Levin, a Michigan Democrat and chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. "We will review this program to determine if equipment provided by the Defense Department is being used as intended."

Chicago Communists, New Black Panthers Infiltrate Ferguson Riots

Eyewitness: Michael Brown Ran from Cop Car, 'Doubled Back' and Charged at Officers

A newly-discovered video taken in the aftermath of Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown's death features a conversation between two bystanders, one whom relays what he witnessed—and he states that Brown fled a police car but then "doubled back" and was charging at officers as they fired at him.

Since Brown's fatal shooting has become a media firestorm, inspiring violent riots and looting in Ferguson, witnesses from both sides of the controversy have given conflicting reports on just what happened. However, this private conversation minutes after the incident seems untainted by any desire to protect or tarnish the reputation of either Brown or the police.
