Salisbury Police Chief Webster Files Lawsuit Against City Of Salisbury And Mayor Ireton
If Ireton has ANY stones whatsoever he'll tell old Chiefy, BRING IT ON, WE'RE CALLING YOUR BLUFF.
More to come. Rachel Polk and I welcome the City of Salisbury to the Webster Lawsuit Club.
I'm sorry Folks. The reason he's suing is over the City's grievance policy. What rhymes with WUSSY! You're a COP, Webster. Do as the Judge told you to do in our case, GROW SOME THICKER SKIN! Webster is a sue happy BULLY who has 3 members, (once again) who will back and support him on the City Council and they'll play the very same game as they did the last time. He'll start to LOSE the case and the three Council Members will bail him out because his case isn't worthy.
Man, I sure do hope the case is heard in Wicomico County so a Local Judge can finally treat him like the wussy he truly is. FIRE HIM IRETON and get it over with. Suspend him, do whatever it takes to get that piece of sh!t out of running that Police Department into the ground. Clearly he can't curb crime and is flat out useless. Do It Now! No one else deserves to die in this City and another Cold Case sit on the shelves because the criminals are smarter than the entire 3rd Floor!
GO HERE to see WBOC's story on this matter.
UPDATE: Council Members have also been mentioned in the lawsuit. Hey, I know. Maybe Debbie & Terry can counter sue and find out who was writing all those old stories on JT's Site before he shut it down. I'd bet good money Webster knows who was doing it. Was Webster involved in any way? Looks like JR, BB & SB better check out their savings because some pretty nasty stuff was said, logged and documented by a local attorney. This can easily go both ways and perhaps Webster and others hadn't planned for what COULD be asked under oath. The REALLY cool part about it would be, the City would have to foot the bill for their defense, (Debbie, Terry & Ireton) and nothing would come out of their pockets and they'll finally get some justice. Connect the dots Mayor Ireton!!!!!

GM Posts First Sales Gain In Nearly Two Years
Positive numbers for Ford, Toyota may indicate ending of slump
DETROIT - GM reported its first monthly gain in U.S. sales in almost two years while Toyota and Ford also improved, a sign the auto industry it starting to crawl back from a yearlong slump.
Demand for new cars and crossovers in October fueled better results for General Motors Co. and Detroit rival Ford Motor Co. GM's sales rose 4.7 percent from October 2008, while Ford notched a 3-percent gain. Japanese rival Toyota Motor Corp. said its sales edged up less than a percent.
Less rosy news came from Chrysler Group LLC, whose sales fell 30 percent, though they improved from September.
Automakers had said October would be a test of the strength of the auto market after the volatile effects of the government's Cash for Clunkers program. The industry staggered through a tough September, hurt by the collapse of demand following the clunker rebates that fueled a sales surge over the summer.

House GOP Pens 230-Page Health Bill Draft
Plan aims to drive down costs rather than extend coverage to everyone
WASHINGTON - After months spent criticizing Democrats' health overhaul plans, House Republicans have produced a draft proposal of their own. It's much shorter and focuses on bringing down costs rather than extending coverage to nearly all Americans.
A 230-page draft was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press. A spokeswoman for Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said changes were still being made before the bill would be finalized in time to offer as an alternative when Democrats begin floor debate on their bill, possibly at the end of this week.
The bill leaves out a number of the key features of the Democrats' 1,990-page legislation, such as new requirements for employers to insure their employees and for nearly all Americans to purchase insurance. It also doesn't block insurers from denying coverage to people with pre-existing health conditions, as Democrats would do.

Sarah Palin Controversy
By Dewie Whetsell, Alaskan Fisherman.
As posted in comments on Greta's article referencing the MOVEON ad about Sarah Palin.
The last 45 of my 66 years I've spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year. Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it. It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, it's about doing things. Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I'm about to mention here.
1- Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governor's office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican's "Corrupt Bastards Club" (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing, "la la la la" (well, you know how they are). Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar.
2- Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called "ACES." Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them, "don't let the door hit you in the stern on your way out." They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich. Of course, the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line. Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.
3- The other thing she did when she walked into the governor's office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as "pork." She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the "when-hell-freezes-over" stack. She let locals know that if we need something built, we'll pay for it ourselves. Maybe she figured she could use the money she got from selling the previous governor's jet because it was extravagant. Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor's cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning - I imagine - that she's packing heat herself). I'm still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.
4- Now, even with her much-ridiculed "gosh and golly" mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest private construction project in the history of North America. No one else could do it although they tried. If that doesn't impress you, then you're trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand..
5- For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson. They made excuses the entire time why they couldn't start drilling. In truth they were holding it like an investment. No governor for 30 years could make them get started... This summer, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out. They protested and threatened court action. She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house. Alaska won again.
6- President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025. Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewables by 2025. We are already at 25%. I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona. Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, look cool. But that's just a cover-up. I'm still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what mine has done in two and a half years. I won't be holding my breath.
By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldn't let her. Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers. And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda. Without warning, it will spin around and tear your face off. Shoulda known better.
You have just read the truth about Sarah Palin.
So "You go, Girl." I only wish the men in Washington had your guts, determination, honesty, and morals.
I rest my case.

Important Recall Information From Food Lion
Dear Valued Customer,
As an MVP card holder and as one of our customers who has indicated a desire for e-mail messages from us, we are sending you this alert regarding a ground beef recall by one of our suppliers.
Fairbank Farms notified Food Lion LLC today that our company received a portion of fresh ground beef products that are part of Fairbank Farms' national product recall. The recall is isolated to 93/7 ground beef purchased at Food Lion stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. In an abundance of caution, any customer who purchased 93/7 ground beef at Food Lion with the sell by date of Sept. 21 through Oct. 8 should return the meat to the store for a full refund. The company is removing any affected product from store shelves immediately.
Given their history with ground beef problems, the last sentence in the big paragraph is a pretty funny mistake (at least I hope it's a mistake).

Dem Split Over Abortion Imperils Health Bill
Bloc could withhold support for legislation over fears of governmental role
While House leaders are moving toward a vote on health-care legislation by the end of the week, enough Democrats are threatening to oppose the measure over the issue of abortion to create a question about its passage.
House leaders were still negotiating Monday with the bloc of Democrats concerned about abortion provisions in the legislation, saying that they could lead to public funding of the procedure. After an evening meeting of top House Democrats, Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) said, "We are making progress," but added that they had not reached an agreement.
The outcome of those talks could be crucial in deciding the fate of the health-care bill. Democrats need the vast majority of their caucus to back the bill, since nearly all congressional Republicans have said they will oppose the legislation.

Homeland Security Department Gags Local Law Enforcement To Protect 'Privacy' Of Illegal Aliens
Under "revised" 287(g) agreements between the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement division and state and local law enforcement agencies, any information about local police efforts to enforce federal immigration law must be cleared through ICE before it can be released to the media or the public. DHS says it is doing this to protect the privacy of illegal aliens.
“The Privacy Act and the privacy policy provide protections for U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents and, in the case of the privacy policy, illegal aliens,” Kelly Nantel, press secretary for ICE, told CNSNews.com, referring to the Privacy Act of 1974.
Nantel said that although illegal aliens are not protected under the Privacy Act, it is the policy of the Department of Homeland Security to extend the privacy protection to individuals who are in the country illegally, a policy she said was put into place by former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff, who served under President Bush.
“Any information regarding individuals encountered through the enforcement of federal law is ultimately protected,” Nantel said. “We need to be sure that prior to the release of information, an appropriate determination is made regarding those protections.”

High Taxes And Wasteful Spending
About Pelosi's Health Care Bill-
Lawyers have been conspiciously quiet on Pelosi's HealthCare Reform Bill. Why? Attorneys will receive huge gifts with the passage of this bill as the field will be wide open for litigtion. This bill offers 'incentives' to states that have implemented meaningful torte reform, such as Texas, to remove restrictions that cap attorneys' fees.
Creation of 111 NEW government agencies is mandated in this 2000 page bill.
About Government funding figures released-
One third increase in funding to NEA, National Endowment of Arts. This is the group that lobbied artists, that had received grants, to create 'art' that moved forward the President's agendas in four main areas, Health Care Reform being one. A recently released White House conference call to rally artists to this cause referenced 'legal' concerns.
Increased funding to neighborhood organizations, such as ACORN. This may be in addition to the monies ACORN receives through 12 Appropriations Bills.
About Cap and Trade quietly progressing through House and Senate
The estimated taxes levied on a family of four has been revised from pennies a day to $1600. yearly now. However, in five years this tax will be $6000.
Let's hope our children are high wage earners so they can afford $6000.00 Cap and Trade Taxes, $5,000.00 plus Health Care Taxes or higher health insurance premiums and certainly move out of states that tax citizens at 50-60% such as New Jersey or New York.
ACORN Operative Patrick Gaspard Received Colleague At White House
White House political director Patrick Gaspard met with ACORN spokesman and lobbyist Scott Levenson, a former co-worker, at the White House the Obama administration disclosed Friday.
Levenson’s inclusion in the newly released list of visitors to the Obama White House makes the president’s claim he’s clueless about his former employer ACORN — and its election fraud trials and tribulations — especially difficult to believe. That’s because Gaspard is President Obama’s right hand man. Some describe him as the new Karl Rove.
The purpose of the visit by Levenson (pictured below) who met with Gaspard in March was not disclosed.
The relentlessly combative Levenson, who is also a registered lobbyist for New York ACORN, was thrown out of Glenn Beck’s TV studio May 6 for suggesting during a commercial break that the TV host was racist for daring to challenge ACORN. Levenson’s been helping to coordinate ACORN’s public disinformation strategy which relies heavily on lies and misdirection.
Few would care about Levenson’s visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue if it weren’t for the fact that President Obama claims — unconvincingly — to be out of the loop regarding ACORN.
After the undercover prostitution sting videos first surfaced on BigGovernment.com and the “Glenn Beck Program” in September the American public began to realize that ACORN is a vast criminal conspiracy whose reach extends to the highest levels of the U.S. government.
Obama said at that time he was barely aware of ACORN’s problems. “This is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to,” he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
Nobody believed the president — except for certain members of the mainstream media.
Evidently Anne E. Kornblut and Jason Horowitz of the Washington Post are also incurious members of the MSM. Their puff piece profile of Gaspard today suggests they have no interest in probing Gaspard’s ties to ACORN.
Gaspard, who came to the White House after serving as executive vice president of SEIU Local 1199, has ties to ACORN that go way back.
Gaspard also worked for New York’s Working Families Party, which is part of the ACORN network. ACORN chief organizer Bertha Lewis is a co-founder of that party — which endorsed Obama last year — and has close ties to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) who has been most reluctant to have the House Judiciary subcommittee he chairs investigate ACORN. Nadler is even providing advice to ACORN through its lawyer Arthur Z. Schwartz but he refuses to address this huge conflict of interest. The congressman’s press office won’t return my calls.

APARTMENT FOR RENT
the payment 'RENT FOR APARTMENT.'
On the way to the office, he regretted what he had done, realizing that the whole event had not been worth the price. So he had his secretary send a check for $250 and enclose the following typed note:
'Dear Madam:
Enclosed find a check for $250 for rent of your apartment . I am not sending the amount agreed upon, because when I rented the place, I was under the impression that:
#1 - it had never been occupied;
#2 - there was plenty of heat; and
#3 - it was small enough to make me feel cozy and at home.
However, I found out that:
#1 - it had been previously occupied,
#2 - there wasn't any heat, and
#3 - it was entirely too large.'
Upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately returned the check for $250 with the following note:
'Dear Sir:
#1 - I cannot understand how you could expect a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely.
#2 - As for the heat, there is plenty of it, if you know how to turn it on.
#3 - Regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size, but if you don't have enough furniture to fill it, please do not blame the management.
So, Please send the rent in full or we will be forced to contact your present landlady...

Will Corzine Allies Steal The Election In New Jersey?
New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine is locked in the political fight of his life. With just hours left before voting, polls show a neck-and-neck race between Corzine and GOP candidate Chris Christie, with Independent candidate Chris Daggett pulling significant support. Obama and VP Biden are making last ditch pitches for the embattled governor. But evidence is building that Corzine’s campaign may see its only salvation is in rigging the election.
The first sign is a straight-up dirty trick. Daggett’s run for office is certainly convenient for Corzine, as he will help split any anti-Corzine vote. And, as a Corzine political appointee, one wonders if his candidacy wasn’t a set up to begin with. Now, in the final days of the campaign, it appears state democrats are paying for robo calls supporting Independent Chris Daggett. First reported here, the robo calls attack Christie (but not Corzine) and promote Daggett. At the end of the call, it is mentioned that the calls are paid for by a “project of the NJSDC.” No idea what that acronym stands for, but New Jersey State Democratic Committee, isn’t too big of a stretch. More interesting is the fact that the return number on the calls is the same number that was used to promote Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley’s election in closing days of the 2006 race.
More telling that the fix is in, however, is the sudden appearance of ACORN on the scene. Not by name, mind you, as their reputation is so tarnished that even New Jersey Democrats don’t want to be associated with them. No, in New Jersey ACORN sought cover behind its big brother, SEIU, specifically SEIU Local 32BJ.
The political director for the SEIU local is Peter Colavito. Just last year, he was ACORN’s political director in New York, working directly under Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s CEO and co-chair of ACORN-backed Working Families Party. He was, and remains, a top official and board member of the Working Families Party in New York. In fact, his wife is currently an employee of the Working Families Party. Corzine has made much of his endorsement by the SEIU local, failing to mention the union’s deep ties to both ACORN and its Working Families Party in New York.
These ties are starting to appear, however. GOP officials recently received a phone tip from a hospital in Newark, reporting that people in ACORN t-shirts were in the facility signing up and collecting absentee ballots. New Jersey law allows anyone to take up to 10 absentee ballots at a time. The tipster reported seeing individuals in the ACORN shirts entering the hospital with blank absentee ballots and leaving with completed ballots.
There are reports out of Camden, New Jersey that voters are discovering that absentee ballots have already been submitted under their name. They did not authorize these ballots. Early reports suggested that the number of absentee ballots ‘requested’ in Camden city is higher than in any previous election. This will no doubt spark confusion on election day.
Possibly anticipating this confusion, the state Democratic Committee recently sent a letter to the Secretary of State, arguing that any absentee ballot that is rejected should still be counted as a “provisional” vote. The letter complained that almost 3,000 absentee ballots had already been rejected “solely on the basis of a comparison of their signature to the signature on record.”
Solely? If the signature of the voter doesn’t match the signature on the ballot, is there really a reason to look at anything else? The letter from the state Democrats suggests that election officials should simply verify that the address on the absentee ballot matches the address on record. Right, and my bank should go ahead and cash any suspicious check as long as the address on the check matches my home address.
The best hope here is that Christie wins by enough of a margin that these dirty tricks are moot. As they say in sports, put enough points on the board and the refs can’t steal it from you.
[Ed Note: Big Government will be working closely on election day with Election Journal and its army of citizen journalists and videographers to document any instances of voter fraud in New Jersey. We welcome the help of readers in New Jersey. If you would like to volunteer to help maintain the integrity of the democratic process, please send an email to electionjournal@gmail.com. You can use this same email to report any voting irregularities you witness on Tuesday. Also, please send in any of your own documentary video of problems at polling places. Big Media may ignore stories of voter fraud, but together we can shine the critical light on it.]
Another Big Maryland Company Going Bye-Bye?
Stanley Works to Acquire Black & Decker
Two leading tool and equipment makers, Stanley Works and Black & Decker, said Monday afternoon that they had agreed to merge in an all-stock transaction that they valued at about $4.5 billion.
The combination would bring together two companies whose product lines appear to be complementary. Stanley is a diversified industrial company that sells hand tools and construction equipment, while Black & Decker is known for its power tools.
“Stanley and Black & Decker together will have a comprehensive offering across all major tool categories and greater resources to support continued expansion of our combined security and industrial businesses,” John F. Lundgren, Stanley’s chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.
Nolan D. Archibald, Black & Decker’s chairman and chief executive, said the deal would result in $350 million in cost savings.
Under the terms of the transaction, which has been approved by the boards of both companies, Stanley would buy Black & Decker for stock valued at about $3.5 billion and assume about $1 billion in debt.
Shareholders of Black & Decker would receive 1.275 common shares of Stanley for each Black & Decker share they currently own. The companies said this price represented a premium of 22.1 percent over Black & Decker’s closing stock price on Friday, although that premium narrowed slightly to 21.6 percent by the end of Monday’s regular trading.
The deal was announced after the stock market closed Monday. Black & Decker’s shares ended at $47.34, up 12 cents, while Stanley’s shares closed at $45.15, down 8 cents.
Wall Street seemed to like the deal, as Black & Decker’s stock jumped more than 20 percent, to $57.10, in after-hours trading on Monday, while Stanley’s shares rose 4 percent, to $47. The gain in Stanley’s stock raised the implied price for Black & Decker’s shares to $59.93, from $57.57 at the close of regular trading.
The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2010, and Stanley shareholders would own about 50.5 percent of the the combined company, while Black & Decker shareholders would own about 49.5 percent.
Once the deal is closed, Mr. Lundgren would become president and chief executive of the combined company. Mr. Archibald would become the executive chairman for three years.
The nine members of Stanley’s board would be joined by six members from Black & Decker’s board, the companies said.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions and requires the approval of Stanley and Black & Decker shareholders.
Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs acted as Stanley’s financial advisers and Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Venable acted as Stanley’s legal counsel. Black & Decker’s financial adviser was J.P. Morgan Securities and its legal advisers were Hogan & Hartson and Miles & Stockbridge.
POLITICAL EVOLUTION
A) Republican or Democrat are identities. For some it satisfies the need to belong, much as one roots for a team. The politically ambitious join one or the other based on the best chance of winning office. As a rule of thumb it has little to do with principals but all to do with power and recognition.
B) Liberals, - Phase one of being Liberal is generally associated with having little or nothing to lose. At times it is in reaction to getting a speeding ticket. Some are motivated by a religious belief narrowly focused on the misguided belief that giving a handout will get them to Heaven.
C) Conservatives, - Phase one, People that have reached a degree of success that they don't want to have taken away. Some have been Mugged or robbed and have come to need law and order. Others have read the Bible portion about teaching a man to fish, feeds them forever.
D) Liberals, - Phase two, Those people that have achieved great wealth. Most have discovered how to evade paying taxes. They live in gated communities protected by people they look down on. Some might be trying to atone for the people they stepped on as they became wealthy.
E) Conservatives, - Phase two, This group worked hard to achieve their wealth. It was not inherited and they believe others deserve the same opportunity. They can usually be found walking among the ordinary people and they support the Constitution.
F) Independents - People fed up with Republican or Democrat deceptions or the extreme positions of either the right or left. This is the fastest growing group of Americans. Sadly it is almost impossible for a third party to succeed. The usual result of a third party is to help the most objectionable candidate to win. These are the folks that determine who wins or loses. The worst part of the election process, is that in most states they can not vote in primaries. The result is that both parties run candidates that the majority of the country find not to their liking.

Finklestein & Jesus
After looking around for a while, he saw a sign for Finkelstein, the Tailor..
So, he went in and made the necessary arrangements to have Finkelstein prepare a new robe for him. A few days later, when the robe was finished, Jesus tried it on -- and it was a perfect fit! He asked how much he owed.
Finkelstein brushed him off: "No, no, no, for the Son of God there's no charge!
However, may I ask for a small favor. Whenever you give a sermon, perhaps you could just mention that your nice new robe was made by Finkelstein, the Tailor?"
Jesus readily agreed and as promised, extolled the virtues of his Finkelstein robe whenever he spoke to the masses.
A few months later, while Jesus was again walking through Jerusalem , he happened to walk past Finkelstein's shop and noted a huge line of people waiting for Finkelstein's robes.
He pushed his way through the crowd to speak to him and as soon as Finkelstein spotted him he said: " Jesus, Jesus, look what you've done for my business!
Would you consider a partnership?" "Certainly," replied Jesus.
"Jesus & Finkelstein it is." "Oh, no, no," said Finkelstein.
"Finkelstein & Jesus. After all, I am the craftsman."
The two of them debated this for sometime.
Their discussion was long and spirited, but ultimately fruitful -- and they finally came up with a mutually acceptable compromise. A few days later, the new sign went up over Finkelstein's shop:
Pelosi Health Care Bill Blows A Kiss To Trial Lawyers
The health care bill recently unveiled by Speaker Nancy Pelosi is over 1,900 pages for a reason. It is much easier to dispense goodies to favored interest groups if they are surrounded by a lot of legislative legalese. For example, check out this juicy morsel to the trial lawyers (page 1431-1433 of the bill):
Section 2531, entitled “Medical Liability Alternatives,” establishes an incentive program for states to adopt and implement alternatives to medical liability litigation. [But]…… a state is not eligible for the incentive payments if that state puts a law on the books that limits attorneys’ fees or imposes caps on damages.
So, you can’t try to seek alternatives to lawsuits if you’ve actually done something to implement alternatives to lawsuits. Brilliant! The trial lawyers must be very happy today!
While there is debate over the details, it is clear that medical malpractive lawsuits have some impact on driving health care costs higher. There are likely a number of procedures that are done simply as a defense against future possible litigation. Recall this from the Washington Post:
“Lawmakers could save as much as $54 billion over the next decade by imposing an array of new limits on medical malpractice lawsuits, congressional budget analysts said today — a substantial sum that could help cover the cost of President Obama’s overhaul of the nation’s health system. New research shows that legal reforms would not only lower malpractice insurance premiums for medical providers, but would also spur providers to save money by ordering fewer tests and procedures aimed primarily at defending their decisions in court, Douglas Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, wrote in a letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).”
Stay tuned. There are certainly many more terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad provisions in this massive bill
STATE POLICE MOTORCYCLE SCHOOL GIVES OFFICERS UNIQUE TRAINING
(Sykesville, MD) – Police officers from across the state are training on steel horses for the next two weeks as they personally experience the answers to questions that include, “Can I keep my motorcycle upright in a skid,” and “What is the best way to use my motorcycle for protection when exchanging gunfire with a suspect?
Maryland State Police First Sergeant Frank Wastler, a veteran motorcycle trooper who first began the Motor Officer Training Course in 1986, will, beginning today, again be hosting two weeks of training for about 20 officers from Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Most of the training will occur at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions’ Driver Training Facility, located at 7310 Slacks Road, Sykesville, Md. 21784.
In addition to classroom training, student officers will spend much of their time on their motorcycles experiencing the various challenges of the training track, including the skid pad, the urban grid, and the highway course. Officers will experience obstacle courses, cone courses, braking exercises, and even learn the correct way to mount, dismount, lift and push their police motorcycles. Training will occur during the day and at night.
Officer survival will be a significant focus of the training. This includes not only safe operation of the motorcycle, but how to survive an armed confrontation. Officers will undergo tactical training with their motorcycles in live-fire exercises at the firing range adjacent to the driver training track.
Reporters are welcome to visit and see how police motorcycle officers learn to do what they do so well. Various activities are scheduled during each day of the two-week course. To make an appointment to visit or find out what is occurring on a specific day, please call the Office of Media Communications.

Where Does Kratovil Stand?
Called Kratovil's offices in Salisbury and on the Hill, and asked where Kratovil stands on Obamacare. They say he hasn't made up his mind.
Do you think he has flip-flopped a thousand times in his mind already wondering whether he will say "YEAH" or "Nay"?
How hard is it to get behind a piece of legistlation or say that you are not for it.

Little Hands Bakery
I thought you may be able to help with this. I recently graduated from Salisbury University 2 years ago with a BSN-RN degree. I am now working as an Emergency room RN at Duke University hospital in Durham, NC. I am contacting you in regards to a non-profit organization that is getting on its feet called "Little Hands Bakery". It is being started by one of our fantastic residents and his wife. Having met her, as well as tasted her cookies, I know that her heart is in this for the best! I have copied and pasted the e-mail below. While all of this is going on in North Carolina, it reminded me so much of the community I left behind in Salisbury. I know that the family would appreciate any donations!
"Little Hands Bakery-- we need your help!
I need your help with an exciting project that our family is starting. The mission of Habitat for Humanity has always been very close to my heart. In fact, it was in high school that I really fell in love with Tommy while we were fundraising for our school's Habitat campus chapter. As parents we have enjoyed teaching the important values of gratitude and service to Grace through delivering cookies to support a retirement group of Habitat volunteers on Thursdays. While we bake, we talk about our own family's blessings and the important job that these volunteers are doing. Grace and I have both been so inspired by this group of senior citizens and many of them have become very attached to Grace-- they just light up when she visits the work site and enjoy a nice cookie break. They call her the "cookie girl", show her their progress on the houses they are building and tell her about the importance of helping families who, like us all, deserve a safe home in which to lay their head at night.
It's difficult to find ways for preschoolers and stay-at-home parents to be involved in the community but it's my mission to extend this opportunity to other children. We've started an initiative with Trinity Episcopal Church, Habitat for Humanity Youth United and Duke University to do just that. I am teaching an energizing Parent-and-me baking class in the church's kitchen for young children in which they will learn to bake a batch of chocolate chip cookies. We'll also talk about Habitat's mission, their own ability to help others, and do a little taste testing. Duke University parents will be pre-ordering a cookie package to be delivered to their student's dorm rooms during exam week. All the cookies we bake will be delivered by Duke campus chapter members and all proceeds will benefit Habitat. The back of each package will have a blue handprint of the child who helped bake their cookies. We're calling our bakery "Little Hands Bakery" and I hope that the children will learn that even the littlest of hands are capable of great things. My goal is to raise $1000 this year on a trial run and expand our endeavors outside the university and to include many other sweet options in the future.
We've hit the ground running and Duke, Habitat and I have put a lot of energy into advertising and organizing the details of collecting baking ingredients and supplies and gathering volunteers. We're also working with a middle school in collecting many of the supplies. However, because this is being taught as a class we need each "student" to have their own set of bowls, spoons, etc. and thus we need a very large number of duplicates. Would you be willing to open your cabinets and see if you have any extra of the following that could be donated? I would appreciate it SO much. Also, if you would like to help spread the word by forwarding this email I would be very grateful! Our first baking session is scheduled for Dec 3. and you can either call me or ask my sweet, loving, adorable and patient husband who puts up with all my crazy projects to take home your donation. Of course, I'd send him back with some treats to say thank you for your generosity. If you or your children would like to be involved as well, please let me know. Thanks!

Call Line For Computer Service
Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. (Now I know why they record these conversations!):
Operator: 'Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?'
Caller: 'Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect.'
Operator: 'What sort of trouble??'
Caller: 'Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away.'
Operator: 'Went away?'
Caller: 'They disappeared.'
Operator: 'Hmm So what does your screen look like now?'
Caller: 'Nothing.'
Operator: 'Nothing??'
Caller: 'It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type.'
Operator: 'Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??'
Caller: 'How do I tell?'
Operator: 'Can you see the C: prompt on the screen??'
Caller: 'What's a sea-prompt?'
Operator: 'Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?'
Caller: 'There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type.'
Operator: 'Does your monitor have a power indicator??'
Caller: 'What's a monitor?'
Operator: 'It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on??'
Caller: 'I don't know.'
Operator: 'Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??'
Caller: 'Yes, I think so.'
Operator: 'Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall.
Caller: 'Yes, it is.'
Operator: 'When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??'
Caller: 'No.'
Operator: 'Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable.'
Caller: 'Okay, here it is.'
Operator: 'Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer.'
Caller: 'I can't reach.'
Operator: 'Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is??'
Caller: 'No.'
Operator: 'Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over??'
Caller: 'Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark.'
Operator: 'Dark??'
Caller: 'Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.
' Operator: 'Well, turn on the office light then.'
Caller: 'I can't.'
Operator: 'No? Why not??'
Caller: 'Because there's a power failure.'
Operator: 'A power......... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in??'
Caller: 'Well, yes, I keep them in the closet.'
Operator: 'Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from.'
Caller: 'Really? Is it that bad?'
Operator: 'Yes, I'm afraid it is.'
Caller: 'Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??'
Operator: 'Tell them you're too f --- ing stupid to own a computer!!!!!'
