Despite the best-friend bond Joe Biden touts with former President Obama, tensions have lingered between the two statesmen over their vastly different governing styles, according to a Politico report.

To start, a number of anonymously sourced quotes from Obama leaked out throughout the 2020 Biden campaign where the former president allegedly expressed doubts about his former running mates’ fitness for office.

“Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f--k things up,” one Democrat who spoke to the former president recalled him saying.

When lamenting his own diminishing relationship with the current Democratic electorate, particularly in Iowa, Obama reportedly told one 2020 candidate: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

Why Socialism Is The Pursuit Of Unhappiness

Where are the happy socialists? The socialists I spot are either snarling with anger or shrieking with hubris. In fact, they seem intent on pursuing unhappiness as their misguided dictums controvert nature — human and physical. It's simply hard to be sanguine when going against nature.

For sure, socialism attracts a "fair number of cranks." Indubitably, it shackles the human spirit and foments misery. So what is it about this desperate ideology that's so disparate to nature, and so antithetical to happiness — besides the fact it creates nothing except poverty?

There is much wisdom behind the notion that happiness is a journey, not a destination, so enjoy the ride. An analogy is a ship sailing the seas, seeking temporary refuge in port before embarking on another exciting expedition. There's brief allowance for reveling upon attaining a goal, but then there's another...and another, so don't get too complacent in port.

If we obsess about outcomes, about reaching port, satisfaction and lasting happiness remain elusive. Yet that's what socialists demand — equality of outcomes. Rather than embracing the journey by equipping explorers with equality of opportunity, they're fixated on reaching the port of communism before mutiny festers. Once there, everyone except the dictator's sycophants finds equality, all right — all become equally impoverished. Turns out so-called "equality" is just not everything it's cracked up to be as the proletariat are dictated to — not in some salubrious transition on the way to utopia, but an indefinite dictatorship in dystopia. Rather than an abundance mindset, which grows the pie for all thanks to technological advances, it presumes a zero-sum scarcity reminiscent of the dark ages.

Nearly A Third Of Americans Had Unpaid Housing Bills In August

Nearly a third of Americans for the fourth consecutive month failed to pay rent or mortgage payments in full. Personal finances of millions of folks have quickly deteriorated through summer. Unpaid housing bills are mounting as the virus-induced downturn continues to unleash the worst employment crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

A new survey via Apartment List, an online rental platform, found 32% of renters (and homeowners) entered August with unpaid housing bills. At least 20% of respondents owed more than $1,000. Among renters with back rent due, 49% have renegotiated lease agreements with their landlords or are doing so.

Donald Trump Accepts Raucous Endorsement from New York City Police Union

The New York City Police Benevolent Association endorsed President Donald Trump on Friday – a union representing 24,000 police officers in the city.

Trump welcomed a group of enthusiastic New York City officers to his club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for an event to announce the endorsement.

The police union president, Patrick Lynch, gave a passionate speech thanking the president for standing up for law enforcement at a time when many were afraid to do so. Lynch said:

I cannot remember when we’ve ever endorsed for the president of the United States until now. That’s how important this is. …. Mr. President, we’re fighting for our lives out there we don’t want this to spread to the country, we need your strong voice across the country.

Trump delivered a speech warning of the dangers they were facing if former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris won the presidential election.

“As we gather today, our country is suffering from a radical far-left movement,” Trump said, noting that Democrats wanted to “defame, demoralize, defund, dismantle, and dissolve our great police departments.”

Ex-FBI Lawyer To Plead Guilty In Durham Probe To Altering Email About Carter Page

A former FBI attorney will plead guilty to making false statements in documents used to obtain a surveillance warrant against former Trump aide Carter Page, his lawyer told the Associated Press Friday.

The guilty plea from Kevin Clinesmith is the first legal action taken in an investigation led by John Durham, a U.S. attorney looking into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe and other intelligence-gathering activities related to the Trump campaign.

Clinesmith’s lawyer, Justin Shur, told the Associated Press that his client will plead guilty to a single false statements charge as part of a cooperation agreement with the government.

The New York Times first reported that Clinesmith was entering the plea deal and would be charged in federal court.

KELITE FERRERAS SENTENCED TO SEVENTY FIVE YEARS FOR SEX ABUSE OF A MINOR AND RAPE

On August 13, 2020, the Honorable S. James Sarbanes, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, sentenced Kelite Ferreras, 36 years of age, formerly of Salisbury, Maryland to seventy five (75) years of incarceration in the Maryland Division of Corrections. A Wicomico County jury found Ferreras guilty of one (1) count each of sex abuse of a minor, rape second degree, sex offense second degree and an additional related charge on January 29, 2020. Ferreras is also required to register as a Tier III sex offender, which is lifetime registration, and will be subject to lifetime supervision by Parole and Probation. 

In October 2016, Ferreras raped and sexually abused a juvenile under the age of 12, who was present in the home at the time. Ferreras then fled the United States for Haiti, where he was apprehended in March of 2019 by the Haitian Police with the assistance of United States Marshals Service and Interpol. Ferreras was extradited back to Wicomico County, Maryland. 

Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes commended the members of Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for their work in the investigation, specifically thanking Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office investigators DFC D. Schultz and DFC C. Kirkpatrick and Salisbury Police investigator Detective M. Rockwell, all assigned or formerly assigned to the CAC. SA Dykes was especially appreciative of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) Salisbury Office, including DFC B. Jones, for their extensive efforts over a two (2) year period to return Ferreras to Wicomico County to face justice. SA Dykes also commended, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Diane Karsnitz, who prosecuted this case.

U.S-Canadian border shut for another month

WASHINGTON – The U.S.-Canadian border will remain closed to nonessential traffic through Sept. 21, Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf announced Friday.

"We continue to work with our Canadian and Mexican partners to slow the spread of #Covid19," Wolf said on Twitter. "Accordingly, we have agreed to extend the limitation of non-essential travel at our shared land ports of entry through September 21."

The decision means the border with Canada, as well as the border with Mexico, will have been largely closed for a full six months. The two nations agreed in March to close the border for a month, and have extended the closure on a monthly basis ever since.

The latest extension of the border closure comes as no surprise. It comes as several U.S. states battle summertime Covid-19 outbreaks.

Meanwhile, Canada has largely contained the spread of the novel coronavirus. That being the case, the Canadian public has shown little interest in reopening the border anytime soon. An Ipsos-Reid poll released in mid-July indicated that 85% of Canadians surveyed want the border closure to continue through the end of the year.

Judge who halted removal of Columbus statue makes it 'crystal clear that she will not tolerate mob rule'

An attorney praised a judge for putting the brakes on the Philadelphia Art Commission's plan to remove a statue of Christopher Columbus from Marconi Plaza, where heated demonstrations have taken place in favor of and against the monument in the wake of George Floyd's death.

Attorney George Bochetto represents a group of South Philadelphia residents fighting to keep the statue in place, and he told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Judge Paula Patrick — who issued a temporary stay — made it "crystal clear that she will not tolerate mob rule or kangaroo tactics."

Bochetto added to the paper that the judge's stay is "not just a victory for the Columbus Statue, [but] a victory for civilized society."

In response, Elana Yaron Fishbein — a mother of two boys and a doctor of social work — wrote to the district's superintendent, board members, and the school's principal demanding the school remove its "cultural proficiency" curriculum, the paper said.

"The book teaches kids not only to defy parents but to hate themselves," Fishbein told the Free Beacon. "To hate their parents also because they are white. By default, [the kids] are white, and they're privileged, and they're bad. [The school] is teaching this to little kids."

In a shocking video, a lemonade stand operated by two young boys in Illinois was robbed at gunpoint. The children were selling lemonade in the East Bluff section of Peoria last Friday afternoon when two "older kids" walked up, one armed with a gun, and snatched the boys' cash drawer, according to the Peoria Journal Star.

Surveillance video from a neighbor caught the armed robbery of the lemonade stand at 4:52 p.m. last Friday. The suspects reportedly stole about $30 before running off. Peoria police spokeswoman Amy Dotson confirmed that one of the suspects had a gun, according to the Pekin Times. Police were investigating the robbery.

Israel-UAE Peace Agreement Is Proof Trump’s Middle East Policy Is Working

Thursday’s announcement of a “historic peace agreement” between Israel and the United Arab Emirates–the first deal to normalize relations between Israel and an Arab nation brokered by the U.S. in over a quarter-century–is more evidence that President Donald Trump is the first president in a long time to get U.S. Middle East policy more right than wrong.

Planning Commission Supports Casino’s Overlay Zone Proposal

SNOW HILL – A new overlay district could bring the Ocean Downs Casino more in line with local zoning.

Last week, the Worcester County Planning Commission voted unanimously to give a favorable recommendation to a new casino overlay zone proposed by the Ocean Downs Casino. Currently, the property is zoned A-2 agricultural and the casino is permitted as an accessory use to the racetrack. The proposed amendment would create an overlay zone that would allow for more entertainment uses on the site.

“It resolves an anomaly which is now there, that the only reason we can be there is because we’re in conjunction with the racetrack,” said Joe Moore, the attorney representing the casino.

Moore said that while the casino property had been home to a racetrack since at least the middle of the last century, it had undergone a metamorphosis in recent years.

Yale Prof: Hydroxychloroquine Haters Spewing 'Misleading And Toxic Disinformation'

Yale epidemiology professor Harvey Risch has hit back against critics who say he's been the subject of personal attacks over his insistence that hydroxychloroquine is highly effective in treating COVID-19 if administered early in the disease's progression.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has implied that I am incompetent, notwithstanding my hundreds of highly regarded, methodologically relevant publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature. A group of my Yale colleagues has publicly intimated that I am a zealot who is perpetrating a dangerous hoax and conspiracy theory. Risch says the personal attacks are a "dangerous distraction from the real issue of hydroxychloroquine's effectiveness, which is solidly grounded in both substantial evidence and appropriate medical decision-making logic."

He adds that there a no studies - published or in pre-print - which disprove his theory that HCQ should be used on high-risk outpatients, and that "assertions to the contrary, whether by Faucci, the FDA, or anyone else, are without foundation. They constitute misleading and toxic disinformation."

Covid-19 has 'two main stages' according to Risch, and HCQ works well in the first, but not the second, later stage of the disease:

At the first stage, it is a flu-like illness. That illness will not kill you. If you are a high-risk patient and begin treatment immediately, you will almost certainly be done with it in a few days. When not treated, high-risk patients may progress. The virus then causes severe pneumonia and attacks many organs, including the heart. In this second stage, hydroxychloroquine is not effective.

So, as Risch points out, it's important to distinguish which patients HCQ works best for; "Does it not work in those who have just started to have symptoms, or those sick enough to require hospitalization?"

Secondly, Risch notes that most low-risk patients, those below 60 with no underlying comorbidities, typically survive without treatment. High risk patients are those over the age of 60, or those with chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and immunocompromised individuals.

Hi Joe, let me just say I am a daily reader of your blog, you have my support 100%. The reason for this correspondence is I would like to know if you have heard of anyone else experiencing what happened to me today. I received an email from Capital One, of which I am a long standing customer, that they are reducing my credit limit from 20k to 5k. I am a semi-retired contractor of reasonably substantial wealth who pays his balance every month, have not ever missed a payment in over 10 years as a customer, and I have a credit score over 800. I have two cards with them and a savings account. I called their customer service and they refused to allow me to keep my 20k credit limit. I have a couple other cards, one with a 30k credit limit. So I guess I will no longer be a Capital One customer after my next billing cycle. What is going on? Is this a covid related deal that they are worried about people running up their balances? Are other credit card companies going to follow suit? This has me really concerned about the average person being able to get credit. A very wealthy friend of mine is in the process of buying a house and was told to finance a mortgage he would need 70% down because he is retired and has a "fixed income". Americans keep buying stuff despite the pandemic — retail sales rise for a third straight month

Consumers spent less than expected in July as a pullback in auto sales helped cool an economy struggling to shake off the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Retail sales rose 1.2% for the month, against the expected increase of 2.3% from economists surveyed by Dow Jones.

The news wasn't all a letdown, however: Excluding autos, the gain was 1.9%, ahead of the 1.2% estimate. A separate report also showed that worker productivity rose at its fastest pace in 11 years, up 7.3% annualized for the second quarter and well ahead of the 1.5% Reuters estimate.

Overall, it was the third straight monthly increase.

US Seizes 4 Vessels loaded w Iranian Fuel

U.S. officials reportedly seized four tankers loaded with Iranian fuel and are transporting them to port in Houston.

A U.S. official confirmed the seizure of the four vessels, dubbed the Bering, Bella, Luna and Pandi, in a statement to the Wall Street Journal, and explained further that the craft were seized without the use of military force. It wasn't immediately clear where the seizures occurred or which U.S. agencies were involved.

The Justice Department declined to comment to the Journal on the seizures. The tankers were all allegedly part of a scheme set up by an Iranian businessman affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard Corps., which the U.S. has designated as a terrorist organization, to evade U.S. sanctions on business with Iran and its military.

Connecticut fines residents $3,000 for violating coronavirus travel advisory

NEW YORK - Connecticut says it has issued its first $3,000 in fines to a pair of residents who failed to comply with the state’s new coronavirus travel advisory.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday that the individuals were both hit with $1,000 fines for failing to fill out public health forms when they flew back weeks ago from Louisiana and Florida – two states that are reporting higher numbers of daily confirmed cases. One of those residents was fined an additional $1,000 after his co-worker informed officials he was refusing to self-quarantine for 14 days as required under the restrictions, he added.

Democide: Understanding the State’s Monopoly on Violence and the Second Amendment

Gun control is predicated on the belief that private citizens cannot be trusted with firearms. That the state should have a "monopoly on violence" because it is less violent than individuals. And that firearms should be taken away from private citizens because only the state is responsible enough to handle them.

There is, however, a major problem with this: States are statistically far more violent than individuals. After all, in the 20th century alone, 262 MILLION people died at the hands of their own governments.

The term for this sort of atrocity is “democide.” It is one of the reasons the Founding Fathers included the Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution – toallow citizens some form of protection against agents of a tyrannical government meaning to do them harm, as the Founders were forcibly disarmed as colonists by the British prior to the American Revolution.
What Is Democide?

Democide is the murder of any person or people by their government. It’s an important concept, as it is more expansive than the better-known term genocide. While the largest genocide in history is widely thought to be the Holocaust, Adolf Hitler’s work pales in comparison to that of Josef Stalin or Mao Zedong. In fact, one aspect of Stalin’s terror was the “Holodomor,” the intentional mass starvation of Ukrainians, which killed over seven million victims in less than two years (compared to six million Jews over the four years of the Holocaust).
