There’s a lot of conflicting information out there about treating pets with cannabidiol (CBD) oil.
As journalist and pet owner I was skeptical about giving CBD to animals.
There are few studies to consult. Most of the information is anecdotal. But recently when Maple, my family’s very old house cat, began to have seizures we decided to try a CBD treatment. My information is anecdotal, too, but maybe it’ll help you inform your own decision about whether the treatment is right for your cat. Here’s how it went for us.

"In the last several decades, the Palestinian leadership has missed one opportunity after the other and rejected all the peace proposals it was given," said bin Salman, according to press reports. "It is about time the Palestinians take the proposals and agree to come to the negotiations table or shut up and stop complaining." The future king even said that the Palestinian issue was not a top priority for the Saudis, adding that Saudi Arabia "has much more urgent and important issues to deal with" in the Middle East.

Plane stowaway's body lands next to man sunbathing in London backyard
London – The body of a suspected stowaway who fell to his death from a Kenya Airways plane landed next to a man sunbathing in his garden in south-west London, a neighbor said. Police believe the victim fell into the property in Clapham from the landing gear compartment of a plane heading to Heathrow Airport.
A neighbor told the Press Association news agency that he heard a "whomp" when the body hit the ground on Sunday afternoon, and went upstairs to look out of a window.
"At first I thought it was a tramp asleep in the garden. He had all of his clothes on and everything," the neighbour, who asked not to be named, was quoted as saying. "One of the reasons his body was so intact was because his body was an ice block."

Facebook Promises to Crack Down on ‘Mis-information’ Ahead of 2020 Election
Social media giant Facebook has promised that it will crack down on “mis-information” and “fake news” ahead of the 2020 presidential election cycle.
Axios reports that social media giant Facebook has issued a civil rights report which boasts of the company’s progress and promises to crack down on misinformation ahead of the 2020 presidential election. In a blog post, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg stated that the social media giant will be introducing a new policy which will protect against “mis-information” related to the census. Sandberg also stated that the company would be partnering with “non-partisan groups” to encourage participation in the census.
Sandberg also promised that Facebook would be creating a “civil rights task force” comprised of senior leaders across key areas of the company. Sandberg stated:
The task force will onboard civil rights expertise to ensure it is effective in addressing areas like content policy, fairness in artificial intelligence, privacy, and elections. For example, we will work with voting rights experts to make sure key members of our election team are trained on trends in voter intimidation and suppression so they can remove this content from Facebook more effectively.

Clinton campaign broke election laws with dossier author payment, lawsuit claims
A conservative non-profit has filed a federal lawsuit accusing the Hillary Clinton campaign of violating election laws when it paid British citizen Christopher Steele to gather Kremlin-provided political dirt on candidate Donald Trump.
Though not stated outright, the lawsuit argues that Democrats violated an admonition issued last week by Federal Election Commission Chairman Ellen L. Weintraub. She decreed that political campaigns cannot accept “anything of value” from foreign nationals.

It took a people who were willing to claim this wild land foot by foot and come together armed with a few muskets and squirrel rifles to defeat the most well-equipped and feared military force on the planet.
It took human beings who could face stifling isolation, those who had a fire in their bellies to shake off the peasant mantle and let the rich soil of this new land sift through their fingers knowing that every grain belonged to them, free from the suffocating control of Lords and Earls who took the fruits of their backbreaking labor and allowed them a pittance.
They wanted to live in a land that promised to respect the personal liberty of every man, governed by a body of representatives chosen by the people, of the people and for the people.
It took dreamers who envisioned great things and wanderers who just had to see what was over the next hill. It took men of vision who could bring their collective dreams to fruition, and strong, unbending men who could make and enforce the laws that pertained to everybody equally.
It took a people who could come together under one dream, one cause and one banner, to live in a land without an official religion where God could be worshipped in the manner and by the doctrine their convictions dictated, not by a king or an official church, but by the heart and conscience of the believer.

Wyoming Poll: Liz Cheney Leads Field of Potential Senate Candidates
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, holds a significant lead in a potential primary matchup against former Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) should the two face off in a primary for the U.S. Senate seat of retiring Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY).
A poll conducted by GOP firm the Tarrance Group, obtained by Breitbart News, found Cheney leads Lummis 56 percent to 34 percent–a 22-point lead. Among definite voters, Cheney leads by 12 percent–31 percent to 19 percent.
Cheney also has majority support among extremely and very conservative voters at 64 percent, and among Trump Republicans at 68 percent. Pro-lifers in a Cheney v. Lummis battle back Cheney with 61 percent, too, the poll found.

York: Anti-Trump fever takes threatening turn
The toxicity of the resistance to President Trump has risen in recent days, with the nation's most respected newspapers publishing rationalizations for denying Trump supporters public accommodation and for doxxing career federal employees, while a journalist found himself under physical attack from the so-called anti-fascist group Antifa, which has stepped up its violent activities since Trump's election.
The justification for denying public accommodation came from the Washington Post in an op-ed by Stephanie Wilkinson, the owner of a farm-to-table restaurant in Lexington, Virginia. Wilkinson became famous in June of last year, when she refused to serve White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders and and told Sanders and her family to leave the restaurant. Wilkinson's staff then followed the Sanders group in protest as they tried to find another place to eat.
Wilkinson later told the press she ejected Sanders because the Trump administration is "inhumane and unethical" and because the Red Hen "has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation."
In her new article, Wilkinson discussed the case of The Aviary, a trendy bar in Chicago where a waitress recently spat on Eric Trump, the president's son. Wilkinson wrote that the incident, along with her own decision to oust Sanders, shows that in the age of Trump "new rules apply" in public accommodations: Americans who work for the administration or support the president should stay away.

Trump and R.N.C. Raised $105 Million in 2nd Quarter, Outdoing Obama
WASHINGTON — President Trump’s re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee on Tuesday said they had raised $105 million in the second quarter of this year, dwarfing what President Barack Obama raised in the equivalent period during his re-election campaign.
The campaign and the R.N.C. said they had a combined $100 million in cash on hand, and that they had raised more money online in the second quarter than in the first half of 2018. The staggering total figure can be plowed into television and digital advertising, get-out-the-vote efforts and other activities related to the 2020 election.
Mr. Trump and his committees raised $54 million, they said, and the R.N.C. raised $51 million. The campaign officials did not say how many individual donors had contributed, or how many gave money in increments of $200 or less. The official report, which will include spending, will be filed with the Federal Election Commission on July 15.

Arizona governor pulls state money for Nike plant over "Betsy Ross flag" sneaker-Colin Kaepernic report
The blowback to Nike's decision to pull Betsy Ross American flag sneakers didn't take long. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey on Tuesday said he's rescinding financial incentives recently offered to the maker of athletic shoes to build a $185 million plant and bring 500 jobs to the state.
The governor, a Republican, made his move a day after the Goodyear City Council unanimously approved Nike's plan to build its third U.S. manufacturing plant, making Nike Air shoes in the suburb of Phoenix. The city agreed to waive nearly $1 million in plan-review and permit fees and reimburse Nike another $1 million for the jobs created, according to local media reports.
As the deal was approved, Nike separately decided against releasing the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July, "as it featured the old version of the American flag," the company told CBS News in a statement.

Washington Post asks federal judge to throw out lawsuit from Covington Catholic student
COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - A judge is now weighing whether to allow the lawsuit to move forward by a Covington Catholic student who is suing the Washington Post. The Post is asking a federal judge to throw out the case.
A team of attorneys for the Post faced off with a team of attorneys for Nicholas Sandmann. The Covington Catholic student is just 16 years old, but there are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake here. Not only is the $250-million lawsuit against the Post at stake, but other suits against CNN and NBC for $275 million each as well.
“$250 million is walking around money to Jeff Bezos,” says Lin Wood, attorney for the Sandmanns. “It's walking around money to all these other media conglomerates that make billions of upon billions of dollars. How much is it going to take to teach them a lesson?"

Narrative: On 28 June 2019 at 9:00 PM, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a moving violation on Delaware Avenue. During the encounter, the deputy observed in the vehicle what he recognized as drug related paraphernalia in plain view. During a subsequent search, the deputy discovered that the passenger, Aubrey Houser, was in possession of what was identified as crack cocaine.
The deputy placed Houser under arrest and transported her to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Houser on a bond of $1,000.00.
Charges: Possession of Crack Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Suspect: Joshua T. Hennessey, 27, Willards, MD
Narrative: On 29 June 2019 at 12:00 PM, a deputy responded to the report of a subject slumped over behind the wheel of a vehicle in the 7000 block of Parker Street in Pittsville. During a subsequent investigation after the driver, Joshua Hennessey was roused, the deputy learned that Hennessey had just purchased heroin and had pulled over while driving in order to inject the drug. According to Hennessey he then continued driving until he passed out.
The deputy also observed that Hennessey had his four-year-old son in the vehicle with him during this incident.
The deputy conducted sobriety testing of Hennessey after which Hennessey was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a drug. Hennessey was then transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Hennessey in the Detention Center without bond pending a District Court Bond Review. Following that Bond Review, Hennessey remains on a no bond status.

After observing indicators of drug use in plain view, the deputy initiated a search of the vehicle during which crack cocaine was located. A search of Hudson’s person revealed heroin, a smoking device and a syringe. **SBYNEWS**
The deputy placed Hudson under arrest and transported her to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Hudson on an unsecured $5,000.00 bond.

Narrative: On 30 June 2019 at 9:30 AM, Amy Bruno was stopped for talking on a cell phone and not wearing a seat belt after she passed in front of a deputy who was preparing to pull out of the Sheriff’s Office onto Naylor Mill Road. Upon making contact with Bruno, it was discovered that she was in possession of what was identified as heroin. The deputy also determined that Bruno’s privilege to drive a motor vehicle had been suspended by the State of Maryland.
It was also discovered that Bruno was wanted on a bench warrant from Baltimore County in a CDS Possession case.
The deputy placed Bruno under arrest and transported her to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Bruno on Personal Recognizance on both the CDS Charges and the Bench Warrant.

Narrative:
Members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics being sold from a residence located on the 400 block of Valleywood Drive Salisbury, MD. It was determined that Leah Evans was allowing James Mackey and Alvin Thompson to sell Fentanyl and heroin from her residence. As result of the investigation, a search and seizure warrant was authored for the residence. On May 25, 2019 the Sheriffs Emergency Response Team assisted the WCSO by executing the search and seizure warrant at the residence. The Community Action Team and Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of the residence and located approximately 93 grams of uncut Fentanyl, scales, packaging material, and other evidence indicative of drug distribution. As a result of the search and seizure warrant, Deputies arrested Alvin Thompson, James Cornell Mackey, Leah Lynn Evans, and Keisha Marie Towns. Due to the quantity of Fentanyl that was located, all subjects were charged with possession large amount Fentanyl and related charges. All subjects were held without bond. **SBYNEWS**

It was determined that the home belonged to Patricia Smith and she was allowing Trico Thompson and Thomas Parsons to sell illegal narcotics from the residence. The Community Action Team and Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of the residence and located an amount of crack cocaine and oxycodone pills in an amount indicative of distribution. Additionally, Deputies located scales, packaging material, a large amount of U.S. Currency, and other evidence indicative of drug distribution. As a result of the search and seizure warrant, Deputies arrested Thomas Parsons, Trico Thompson, Haley Barrall, and Patricia Smith.

Judge Blocks Indiana 2nd Trimester Abortion Procedure Ban
A federal judge blocked an Indiana law that would ban a second-trimester abortion procedure on Friday, just days before the law was set to come into force.
The order putting the Indiana law on hold was released hours after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to revive a similar law in Alabama that sought to ban dilation and evacuation abortions.
The law passed by Indiana's Republican-dominated Legislature this spring calls the procedure "dismemberment abortion." It was set to become effective on July 1.
ACLU attorneys argued that the ban would put a "substantial and unwarranted burden on women's ability to obtain second-trimester, pre-viability abortions."
In granting the preliminary injunction that blocked the law, U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker wrote that it "prohibits physicians from utilizing the most common, safest, often most cost effective, and best understood method of second trimester abortion, requiring them instead to resort to alternatives that are medically riskier, more costly, less reliable, and in some instances simply unavailable, while accomplishing little more than expressing hostility towards the constitutionally fundamental right of women to control their own reproductive lives."

At least four people were killed and 47 others injured in gun violence since Friday at 5 p.m., reports said.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that one week ago, four people were killed and 16 injured.
The report said one 32-year-old was hit by two shots at about 2:05 p.m. and died at Christ Medical Center. He had been shot in the head and back.
In another shooting, a 26-year-old was found dead in a gangway. The report said he had three gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Photos show freak summer hailstorm coating roads with 5 feet of ice in Guadalajara, Mexico
A freak hailstorm blanketed large parts of Guadalajara on Sunday, coating the southwestern Mexican city's roads with up to 5 feet of ice.
The city had been experiencing temperatures of about 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit) in the days before the unexpected storm.
Dozens of vehicles were swept away, and cars and trucks were submerged. There were also reports of damage to homes and businesses.

The nation's capital has seen a steady rise in violent crime throughout Washington, D.C. with a string of gunshots during the weekend bringing the total number of murders in the city to 79 for 2019.
The number of homicides is up five percent from the same point last year, but there have been many other non-fatal gun incidents throughout the city so far. "Late Saturday night, three people were shot in a drive-by shooting as a bus stop on Southern Avenue in Southeast, according to police. The suspect was driving a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows. Two of the victims in this shooting were children, multiple outlets have reported: one six-year-old girl and one three-year-old boy," the DCist reports.
Likewise, on Saturday in the northwest portion of the city, "Twenty-eight-year-old Christopher Payne was shot multiple times" and was killed. South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg (D.) faces growing calls for his resignation in the wake of a white police officer shooting and killing a black man.
The incident occurred in the early morning of June 14 and snapped racial tensions that have been tightening since Buttigieg demoted Darryl Boykins, the city's first black police chief, in 2012. Buttigieg held a town hall on June 23, but South Bend's black community reacted with fury. They pointed to racial conflicts within the SBPD as well as the department's fraught relationship with the black community, demanding swift change.
Six shootings occurred the weekend of his town hall. In one instance, a witness reported that the shooter was aiming specifically at police. A number of South Bend officials who served under Buttigieg as well as local civil rights activists are now calling for the mayor’s resignation.

Police Cars Damaged As 1,000 Teens Wreak Havoc In Philly Streets
Four police cars were damaged after hundreds of teens and young adults assembled in North Philadelphia Sunday night. The police department put out a citywide assist call for all available officers just before 11:30 p.m. for reports of a massive crowd of young people gathered near the intersection of N. Sydenham and W. Jefferson Streets.
“Anywhere from 800 to 1,000. There were a lot of young adults out here tonight,” said Chief Inspector Joel Dales.
A man named Aaron who was there said it started out as a regular cookout right around 5 or 6 p.m., but that things escalated by nightfall when several people shared the location on Snapchat.
“They had a tent with a DJ popped up and everything like that. They had alcohol, jungle juice going up, but honestly, obviously, I didn’t set it up but there was a lot of really, really young children here that probably shouldn’t have been messing around with any of this,” said Aaron, who withheld his last name.

Many top unions are in no rush to endorse in a field full of familiar allies.

Ted Cruz seeks federal action against Portland mayor after antifa attacks journalist
Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, called Sunday for a federal investigation and charges against Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler after an attack on a conservative journalist by antifa activists during one of the city’s frequent protests.
“To federal law enforcement: investigate & bring legal action against a Mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists,” Mr. Cruz tweeted.
His blast came after a widely publicized attack Saturday on Andy Ngo, a right-leaning Portland journalist who has run afoul of antifa, or “anti-fascist,” activists by regularly recording their protest activity.
Mr. Ngo was treated at the hospital for bloody cuts and bruises to his face and neck after being mobbed by black-masked activists who grabbed his GoPro and pelted him with milkshakes and projectiles as he tried to walk away, as shown on video of the episode.

Most Americans reject government healthcare for illegal immigrants: Poll
A new poll by CNN shows a large majority of Americans disagree with positions that many of the Democratic presidential candidates have taken on healthcare.
The poll released Monday found 58% of Americans oppose giving government-backed healthcare to illegal immigrants while 38% say they support giving healthcare to illegal immigrants.
All 10 of the Democratic candidates on the second night of the debate raised their hands to say they supported giving healthcare to illegal immigrants. The debate included Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Kamala Harris, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Gallup: Americans Radically Overestimate LGBT Population
Although U.S. adults think LGBT persons make up nearly 24% of the U.S. population, this is a dramatic overestimation, according to Gallup, which asserts that the LGBT population is in reality closer to 4.5%.
Gallup also reports that the percentage of Americans identifying as LGBT is most prevalent among millenials.
In its survey, Gallup asked, "Just your best guess, what percent of Americans today would you say are gay or lesbian?"
From the respondents' answers, the average was 23.6%. In other words, American adults think LGBT people make up nearly 24% of the population, which is more than 5 times the real percentage of 4.5%.
"[A]ll available estimates of the actual gay and lesbian population in the U.S. are far lower than what the public estimates," said Gallup, "and no measurement procedure has produced any figures suggesting that more than one out of five Americans are gay or lesbian."
Over-estimations of the LGBT population may be due to their "out-sized visibility" in the culture, especially through the media, said Gallup.

'Domestic' terrorists could target July 4 holiday events, but no known plots: Feds
Federal authorities are warning that white supremacists and other political radicals could look to attack Independence Day revelers on July 4, noting in a bulletin to law enforcement around the country that domestic terrorists “have attacked perceived oppressors, opponents, or enemies engaged in outdoor First Amendment-protected rallies or protests during past summers.”
The warning came in a joint intelligence bulletin issued by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and National Counter-terrorism Center, urging law enforcement personnel to remain vigilant for suspicious activity.
Such bulletins are routinely distributed in the days before a major national holiday, but previous bulletins have often focused on “homegrown” terrorists inspired by overseas groups like ISIS or al-Qaeda rather than “domestic” terrorists radicalized by domestic issues such as abortion or white supremacy.

Like the proverbial “bulge in the belly of the snake,” unusually high numbers of non-Latino migrants, obviously not from Central America, are now reportedly passing from Colombia through Panama on their way to the U.S. southern border. Their numbers range to the tens of thousands, whose vanguards we have already seen at the U.S. Southwest Border in recent months: Cameroonians, Ghanaians, Congolese, Haitians, Cubans, and some from the Middle East.
Word of their successful entries into the United States this year clearly reached home countries because now a swell numbering as many as 35,000 is on an infamous migrant passage through which migrants have long funneled from South America to North America: the Darien Gap.
I am told this by two eye-witnesses who have just returned from the Colombia-Panama region on either side of the Gap. One of them is Panama-based author and freelance journalist Chuck Holton, who just visited the Colombian side in the frontier border town of Turbo, which is notorious as a migrant staging area for U.S.-bound migrants to be smuggled through the Darien Gap passage into Panama. The other source is Diane Edrington, a Mississippi-based nurse practitioner who has worked for years as a Panama Missions volunteer and who just returned from camps I visited in December on the Panama side of the Darien Gap.
