BREAKING NEWS: NEW BOE REPLACEMENTS CHOSEN

The hot topic for the night is clearly the announcement we made referencing two key employees at the Wicomico Board Of Education. However, we can now top that.

Tomorrow morning all principals will be made aware that Dr. Terry Greenwood and Bill Middleton will be the replacements for the two employees placed on paid administrative leave.

Some are truly bothered that Fredricksen didn't promote from within, but what else is new.

Again, who's DelMarVa's News Leader? More news in REAL time.

E-Voting Gets Closer In 2012, But It Isn't There Yet

Some states embrace it to counter low voter turnout, but others worry about security
Voters in many states will have an easier time casting their ballots in 2012, as elections officials are now allowing some people to vote via email or iPad devices. They're also using technology to help count ballots faster and keep track of ballot boxes.

These new voting technologies will save time and money and perhaps allow more people to take part in the elections process. But some experts worry that security flaws still haven't been fixed and that federal elections are still decades away from going fully online.

Despite the concerns, some states are embracing e-voting as a way to counter low voter turnout.

Oregon, for example, allowed disabled people to vote with iPads during a special election in November 2011 and will continue allowing that in 2012.

Oregon is also one of 11 states that currently or will soon let residents register to vote online as long as they have a valid state driver's license or ID card, according to Politico. All other states require voter registration in person or by mail.

Jobless Rate Up, But Crime Down: What Gives?

Americans, take solace: While your chances of landing a job these days might not be great, you’re also less likely to be murdered, or robbed or to have your car stolen.

The rate of major crimes in the U.S. continues to drop – even during the recent recession and its aftermath – and crime experts aren’t sure why.

"I am surprised by the overall decline in both violent and property crime during and since the recent recession. I’ve studied crime trends in relation to economic conditions for some time, and the 2008-09 recession is the first time since WW II that crime rates have not risen during a substantial downturn in the economy,” says Richard Rosenfeld, a professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and past president of the American Society of Criminology.

Stocks Surge In New Year's Rally, Boosted By Economic News

The stock market kicked off the new year with a bang by posting solid gains on the first trading day of 2012 as investors sent their cash back to work in hopes that an improving U.S. economy may end the financial turbulence that characterized 2011.

Fresh data Tuesday seemed to confirm a series of earlier reports, including last month’s sharp drop in the jobless rate, that the economy is slowly mending. U.S. manufacturers ended 2011 with the strongest showing since late spring. A rise in new orders suggested that momentum could carry over into 2012. Spending on construction projects rose for the third time in four months.

Should Smokers Have To Pay The Full Tax If They Roll Their Own Cigarettes?

Since state and local governments began slapping heavy taxes on cigarettes, a number of smokers have managed to pay less by buying loose tobacco and rolling their own. But as a growing number of stores have begun offering free-to-use roll-your-own machines that take the loose material and spit out a pile of smokes that look like they came straight out of the carton, some lawmakers are crying foul.

"It's a willful attempt to evade the tax that is in Massachusetts," says State Senator James Timilty to WBZ-TV. "We should shut them down."

New Hampshire State Representatives Challenge

State Attorney General on Election Fraud Investigation

Today concerned New Hampshire State Representatives delivered a signed affidavit to the State Attorney General Michael Delaney, stating that in 2009 Representative Larry Rappaport, Mr. Lucien Vita (now a State Representative), and Representative Carol Vita met with New Hampshire State Attorney General Michael Delaney and argued that they believed Barack Obama was not eligible to be President of the United States and requested that Attorney Delaney launch an investigation of Mr. Obama’s credentials. The three believed that the people of New Hampshire had been defrauded by Mr. Obama’s candidacy. The Attorney General stated it was a federal matter and refused to investigate.

We believe that according to the United States Constitution (Article ll section 1 paragraph 5) “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.”

A natural born Citizen, as defined by the U.S. Supreme Court in “Minor vs. Happersett”, Vattel’s “Law of Nations”, and the 2008 (S.Res. 511) Senatorial resolution, is one wherein both parents of whom were Citizens of the United States of America. According to the record, Mr. Obama’s father was born in Kenya. He never was a Citizen of the United States of America, making Mr. Obama ineligible to be a Presidential Candidate on the New Hampshire ballot.

Rep. Barney Frank may find the 2012 Republican primary as wildly entertaining as most anyone else following the campaigns has, but he is still a little worried that the Democrats may suffer from this. This he told Lawrence O’Donnell on tonight’s The Last Word, where he explained that part of the blame for close-minded political rhetoric was voter demand, and that Democratic desire to cooperate has led to more gridlock in Congress.

The New Professionalism

Maybe there’s a legitimate law enforcement reason to strip a man naked, strap him to a chair, tie a “spit hood” around his mouth, put a hood over his head (see video at the link), and douse him with pepper spray until he dies. That’s what sheriff’s deputies in Lee County, Florida did to 62-year-old Nick Christie two-and-a-half years ago.
I certainly can’t think of any such legitimate reason. But Lee County State’s Attorney Stephen Russell apparently can. Because he cleared the deputies involved of any wrongdoing.
Christie’s family just filed a lawsuit.

Let The Kids Play: They’ll Do Better In School

Amika Singh, a senior researcher at VU University in the Netherlands, reports in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine that physical activity is associated with better academic performance, as measured by higher GPAs and better scores on standardized tests. She and her colleagues reviewed 14 studies, some of which simply recorded the amount of physical activity that children, parents or teachers reported that youngsters got over three days to seven days prior to the study, and some of which randomly assigned students to varying amounts of exercise a day. Taken together, the studies showed that the more physical activity the children had, the higher their scores in school, particularly in the basic subjects of math, English and reading.

How They Rig Election Machines

The Prepper Movement - Part 2 - Prepping for the long term

In Part 1 we discussed the many requirements of prepping for short term natural and man-made disasters. While it may have been a lot to absorb for many, it is necessary to prepare and execute a short term plan as necessary for survival of short term disasters. BUT it is also necessary for a short term plan to transform into the foundation of a long term plan if necessary.
As we mentioned in part 1, if food supply lines aren't re-established fairly quickly following a disaster, society will begin to degrade rapidly. Anarchy will spread and overtake the ability of law enforcement to control it. As things get worse, the military will fall short as well. A desperate society is a dangerous society.

As we stated, comprehensive prepping for short term disasters will provide immediate relief from starvation and will provide security in the short term. But should things get worse and the need for short term relief becomes the need for long term relief, the plan for short term survival needs to evolve into a long term plan.

Six months of food won't last forever. If you don't plan for re-supply, 6 months will pass and all your prepping will have been a waste of time.

As you move forward with the preparation of a plan for the survival of a long term disaster, a few things must be remembered. The transition from a short term plan to a long term plan must embrace the knowledge that your most important weapon against starvation, attack by looters, and dying of exposure is YOU! You must be prepared physically and mentally to provide for yourself and your family. No one can do this for you. And the time to prepare yourself for this is now. Vigorous physical activity can make a world of difference in whether or not you survive. Mental preparation is also important. There are literally hundreds of resources available to help you develop a survival mindset, including the website listed above and the government website I listed in part 1.

Another important thing to remember is that fuel supplies for generators run out rapidly, you may be able to barter food or ammunition for fuel but it is more likely that you will not be able to aquire more fuel for you generator after your initial supply is exhausted. For those who use electric pumps for water, this means you will also be without water. Remember the rules of 3. 3 days without water and you and your family become part of the desperate mobs. On the shore we are fortunate to have a relatively high water table most of the time. It would be in your best interest to drive a shallow well and use a pitcher pump to draw water from the ground when the electricity goes out for good.

While researching for this post, I corresponded with several friends from http://www.preppersplace.com./We came up with what we believe are some other important issues to be addressed when prepping yourself for surviving a long term disaster.

First, remember that "no one can do everything, but everyone can do something". It is my new favorite phrase. This means that the need to create a network of like minded people is so important that your life will likely depend on it. Some people will be able to provide security to others who can't. But those who can't provide security may be able to grow vegetables but not livestock. Some may be good at raising livestock but not vegetables. A single person with several weapons may have friends who have no weapons but have the means to grow and prepare food for long term storage and a few extra rooms. Learn valuable skills such as gardening and safe food preservation and storage so that you can be a contributing member of a prepper group. You get the picture.

Second, educating friends and neighbors of the very real need to prepare for emergencies BEFORE they happen is just as important as anything else while preparing for both short and long term emergencies. Although more and more people are waking up everyday, many people are still not awake to the fact that prepping is essential. Be honest. How many of us have just opened our eyes? How would you feel if you survived and most of those you loved didn't because they either weren't aware of the need to prepare or didn't know where to begin? One of my fellow preppers from Arkansas told me that it would be worthless to him and his wife to prepare if they were able to survive and everyone they cared about were gone. Open the eyes of your friends and family.

Third, develop a network of people with whom you can trade things you have for those things you will need. If you grow and can your own vegetables, get to know people who raise chickens so that you can trade in the event the food supply lines are not re-established. In essence you are responsible for creating your own re-supply lines right within your community. Remember, the time to establish these contacts is now - not after a disaster.

Fourth, stock up on things you will need for long term survival.
Examples:

heirloom seeds (those which aren't genetically altered. Seeds that you can plant that will grow to yield fruit/vegetables that generate seeds that can be planted next season to grow more plants. Genetically altered seeds often do not produce vegetables that yield viable seeds).

Ammunition (for shooting and trading for other goods).

Medication (although most over the counter meds lose potency over time, they can still be more effective than having nothing at all - check with your local physician to find out which can be saved for extended periods of time).

I believe that the most important thing you can do to assure your survival of a long term disaster is to gather together a close group of friends and family members and develop a survival plan together. It may include everyone moving into one house when a specific event triggers the gathering of your group together. It may include everyone contributing food to a common food "bank" for your group. It may include several gatherings a year at a local shooting range. All of these are good ideas as far as I'm concerned. But whatever you do, do something.

We hope these posts have opened your eyes a little to the need to care for yourself your friends and family by developing a survival plan for natural and man-made disasters. We also hope you will be able to use some of the ideas listed here to develop your own survival plan.

Ron Paul Has Already Won

What happens if Ron Paul wins Iowa? ... Paul seems to have a natural ceiling among GOP voters: A recent Washington Post/ABC News poll found that nearly half of Republican voters feel Paul's foreign policy views are a major reason not to vote for him. Indeed, the primary reason Paul has an opening to win in Iowa is that no consensus candidate has emerged among social conservatives, which dominate the GOP electorate here – a situation that allows Paul to potentially win with less than 30 percent of the vote. Still, a Paul win in Iowa would have significant ramifications. It would go a long way toward pushing his Libertarian views, long dismissed as outside of Republican mainstream, to the center of the conversation. The resultant media coverage would allow Paul to further spread his message – and potentially win a host of new supporters. And if Paul can do well in New Hampshire on January 10, where he is currently tied for second place with Gingrich, Paul could even move to shared front-runner status with Romney, who is now ahead by more than 20 points in New Hampshire. – CBSNews

Dominant Social Theme: Paul is a crank and will never light up the sky.

Free-Market Analysis: The Internet Reformation is a process not an episode. US GOP Presidential candidate Ron Paul shows us the accuracy of this statement. Ron Paul and his libertarian allies are winning the battle for the hearts and minds of Americans by the millions. In fact, they have already won. More on this below.

It is not too much of an exaggeration to say that a substantial minority, if not a majority, of Republicans and Democrats are really libertarians of some sort. This gives Ron Paul a natural constituency that is far larger than the mainstream media admits.

There is apparently only one struggle in the world – and in the US. That is the seeming struggle between a handful of ancient, elite families who control hundreds of trillions via central banks around the world and want to move to world government (dominated by them) and the rest of us.
