To All Somerset County Voters:
We would like to address the upcoming Republican Primary Election on June 26 th. It is a great opportunity for voters to decide the future of Somerset County.
For years we have watched Somerset County search for young leaders to step forward and help an aging community. We believe those cries for a young leader have come to life this election cycle. We are talking about Clerk of Court Candidate Jordan Monk. Since filing back in September, Jordan has been a candidate who has shown the virtues of a true conservative. He has done what we think needs to be done to earn the respect and support of Somerset County voters. He has gone door to door and is having a face to face interaction with voters. He has attended multiple events around the county and has shown his support for the local organizations. We have been involved in many campaigns over the years and have never seen a candidate with more drive and determination than Jordan.
However it does not stop there with Jordan. Although he is only twenty-eight years of age, Jordan has already established himself as a fixture in this area. For many years, he has volunteered his time
coaching and assisting with various youth activities. He also holds an office on two educational scholarship foundations. Jordan comes from a family who has left a permanent mark on this community. His Uncle, Eric Monk, made the ultimate sacrifice, his life, as a Maryland State Trooper in 1988 and his Grandfather, Fred Monk, served the community for many years as Captain of the J. Millard
Tawes. Jordan, who also is a Maryland State Trooper, served Somerset County for seven years. He led the barrack for numerous years, and was selected Trooper of the Year in 2014. Jordan displays great leadership and respect in his position with Maryland State Police and upholds their core values
“Integrity, Fairness, and Service” with honor.
When we asked Jordan months ago, “Why would you want to get involved in politics, which can often become very controversial?” He quickly responded, “I want to serve the Citizens of Somerset County. I look where we are as a Country, and believe that Christians need to regain their strength and stand up for their faith and the Christian values that this Country was founded on.” Jordan grew up in the First Baptist Church of Princess Anne and now attends SonRise Baptist Church in Princess Anne. He stands up for what is right and puts God first in his life, and has helped spread the word of Jesus in song, singing for Southern Gospel group, “The Baptist Boys”, for fourteen years.
In closing, there is no perfect candidate, but we think Jordan Monk is what this County needs - a young Christian Conservative Republican.
Thank you for your time in reading this letter.

American Medical Association Calls for More Gun Control Including Gun Bans, Confiscation
The American Medical Association announced on Wednesday it would back strict new gun-control measures including banning and confiscating certain firearms.
The measures, which the group called "common-sense," include outlawing not only the sale of what the group referred to as "assault-type" weapons but also their possession, outlawing the possession of any firearms by adults under 21 years old, a national gun registry, requiring a license to own any firearms, and gun buyback programs among a number of other proposals. The group also called for a ban on the possession of bump-fire stocks, stated its opposition to teachers being allowed to carry firearms in schools, and stated its opposition to national concealed-carry reciprocity. The group also called for the passage of a law which would bar those convicted of domestic violence offenses from owning guns even though federal law already includes such a provision.

A Viewer Writes: Peninsula Regional Medical Center
How incapable is Peninsula Regional Medical Center? Someone fell out on a sidewalk in front of the hospital. Here’s the kicker, even though they’re a “Trauma Center”, they called 911 and Salisbury EMS tended to the patient. I wouldn’t let them to take care of my dog. The ER is supposed to respond with their EMS stretcher, but I guess there were more pressing issues.
I wonder if Salisbury EMS will charge for a transport.

Breaking News: James Comey was insubordinate in the Clinton email investigation, but a Justice Dept. report found no proof that F.B.I. bias affected the outcome
The former F.B.I. director James B. Comey was insubordinate in his handling of the investigation of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election, a critical Justice Department report has concluded, according to officials and others who saw or were briefed on it.
But the report, by the department’s inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, does not challenge the decision not to prosecute Mrs. Clinton. Nor does it conclude that political bias at the F.B.I. influenced that decision, the officials said.

the Public Carrying of Firearms
Coalition Defends Constitutionality of Licensing Laws
BALTIMORE, MD (June 13, 2018) – Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today joined a coalition of attorneys general in filing an amicus brief defending the constitutionality of a Massachusetts gun law preventing individuals from carrying a firearm in public unless they demonstrate an individualized need to do so.
“States have the authority to pass and implement common sense gun safety laws,” said Attorney General Frosh. “The laws in place in Maryland protect our citizens and are completely in accord with the Constitution.”

Pride flag replaces military flags at Indiana VA hospita
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- The five flag poles that line the entrance sidewalk to the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System at 2121 Lake Ave. typically fly flags of the country's five branches of military: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard.
On Tuesday, through, those flags were taken down and just one was flown in their place: an LGBT pride flag.
June is celebrated as Pride month around the country.
The sight drew plenty of attention from residents and visitors to the VA. WISH-TV's sister station WANE received several questions and comments and photos from viewers.
The VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System issued the following statement:
"Logistically, we could not add a flag without removing a flag from the poles outside our VA. Rather than single out one military branch's flag to be temporarily replaced with the LGBT flag, we chose to remove all of them for one day in order to show our dedication to serving all Veterans equally."
The VA said service flags were put back up before the end of the business day.

New Jersey arts festival shooting leaves 20 injured, 1 suspect dead, officials say
Nearly two dozen people were injured after gunfire broke out early Sunday during a fight at an all-night art event in New Jersey’s capital city, leaving one suspect dead and authorities investigating if any others were involved.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said at a news conference that a total of 20 people were injured in the shooting, 16 of which were treated for gunshot wounds at nearby hospitals. A second suspect is in custody.
"It's a massive crime scene," Onofri said.
The gunfire involving "multiple individuals" happened shortly before 2:45 a.m. at the 24-hour Art All Night show in the Roebling Market section of the city, according to Onofri.
The event began Saturday afternoon and was scheduled to continue until Sunday afternoon and typically draws thousands of people. The festival showcases local art, music and food.

The Increasing Meaningless of Modern American Life
“We live in an empty culture. We have fled from God, from meaning, from purpose, and the suicide epidemic is a direct result. People are wallowing in despair, believing that there is no transcendent truth or beauty to be found in life.” – Matt Walsh
“Nothing costs enough here.” – Brave New World
In America, we have separated sex from procreation. Increasingly, we’re spiritual but not religious — which means that we separate God from religion. Via social media, we separate friendship from personal contact. Marriage is no longer “til death do us part” — it’s until we get tired of it, get divorced and move on. A man without an education but who’s willing to work hard can no longer support a family. Of course, it wouldn’t matter if he did since the government will just step in and take care of it if he doesn’t. Increasingly, work comes from large corporations where the employee is little more than a cog in someone else’s wheel.
What that means is many Americans live lives devoid of meaning. They don’t take pride in their work. They’re not very concerned with pleasing or living up to the standards God has set. Fewer and fewer of us are married and having kids, but for those who do, that marriage isn’t as permanent as it used to be. We may be constantly in contact with others online, but we see less of each other in person than ever before.
On top of this, we are a prosperous nation deluged with pornography, video games, and comfortable living environments. You can go to work, come home, get your sexual needs met with pornography, order out your food and play video games that let you pretend to do the meaningful things few people do in real life. You can risk your life, fight enemies in battles to the death, save people, rule kingdoms and perform in front of cheering crowds. But, the second the game goes off, all those amazing accomplishments pass away into nothingness.
