A SALISBURY NEWS EXCLUSIVE: SALISBURY AIRPORT COVER UP, "THE DRAPER ONE APPROACH"
Image is not Piedmont or Salisbury
Its December 21st. Loved ones are flying into Salisbury to visit Family and others are coming home for the Holidays. The Centre Of Salisbury Mall is packed with Holiday Shoppers, local Hotels are booking rooms for visitors when all of a sudden a Piedmont Airline Plane is descending at an incredible rate of speed, many witnesses scared for their life.
For those on board the Plane, preparations for a crash were in progress as the plane descended to less than 500 feet over the Mall.
The problem, well, there was no problem, thankfully. The Pilot simply wanted to rattle the windows of his home and neighbors who lived next to the Mall.
"The Draper One Approach" Takes Another Nose Dive
This is a mass email only sent out to all First Officers on Jan.18, 2013, notifying them the FAA is going to call many of them about their knowledge of "The Draper One Appoach". From what I'm told the FAA cannot contact First Officers directly. The FAA contacts Piedmont, Piedmont contacts the First Officers with the FAA inspector's number.
Also the SBY Rep. who sent out this email was renting a room in Drapers house, (the Pilot in question) and represented Draper in all his meetings with Piedmont.
Do you smell what I smell?

Subject: FAA Contacts
The Association has learned that the FAA may try to interview some First Officers based in SBY.
If the FAA attempts to contact you we recommend that you immediately call your representative: Tim Garbat at 562-773-1535 or Charles Schaefer at (410) 591-1114
We want to remind each of you that you have the right to have representation if you decide to talk to the Inspector.
Thank you,

Well We Know You Got Laid Off But Now We Want You Back For A Lot Less Money
While PRMC laid off a ton of people in recent months, they screwed up, or did they?
Considering there is currently only one nurse for every eight patients, PRMC is now reaching out to hire 91 NEW NURSES.
Some have said they got rid of their higher paid RN's to make room for lesser paid replacements. Others are simply gratified that new positions have become available.
Whatever the case may be, if you are in need of a job, if you are a Registered Nurse, you may pick up a fairly decent job at PRMC until they can take even more advantage of a crushed economy and hire people for even less, again.
Oh, and if you know what's good for you. Once you are hired you'll be required/mandated to purchase all of your prescriptions from their internal pharmacy within the Hospital, hurting even more of the local businesses. Millions more dollars going TAX FREE in Salisbury.

Oh Crap, Here We Go AGAIN!
Remember The Bennett Middle School project that got voted down and then Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman called for a special meeting and changed her mind. Well, it's about to happen again!
You know how the Council voted NO to raises for Sheriff Lewis, Rick Pollitt, the Orphan Court Judges and even the County Council.
Well, this past Tuesday the Council only had 5 members present and the proposed raises got a final NO. Right then and there, (because she wasn't happy) Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman vowed to bring it ALL back up again in the near future when they know they'll have ALL of the Council present so it can PASS.
Ladies & Gentlemen, there are NO Rules of Order with the County Council, meaning they can do just that. I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA! When something gets voted down, it's a done deal and that's how it should be.
For far too many years we have watched Council majorities vote down many projects I personally believe the City or County should have moved forward with but it is what it is. And as many of you know, we have seen many projects I believe the majority of citizens DIDN'T want passed but they got rubber stamped and went through against our wishes.
You have to take the good with the bad. NOT if you are on your way out though, like Mrs. Prettyman is. Mrs. Barkley, (one of the Orphan Court Judges) threw an absolute FIT Tuesday night. I mean, come on now, a 40% PAY RAISE for one day a month!
I'm telling you people, there better be a record turn out for the upcoming election because we must take back control, at least on a local level. We need representatives that will vote in Roberts Rules of Order so this kind of crap won't happen again.
Mrs. Prettyman, SHAME ON YOU.

Study Finds Wind Turbines ‘Slow Down’ Hurricane
OCEAN CITY — While the effort to develop an offshore wind energy farm just 30 miles off the coast of Ocean City continues to plod steadily forward, a new study released last week suggests offshore wind farms of a considerably greater size than the one proposed off Maryland’s coast could significantly lessen the power and mitigate the damage caused by hurricanes and other major coastal storms.
Late last year, the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced the lease of Maryland’s designated Wind Energy Area, an 80,000 acre tract of open ocean roughly 10 to 30 miles off the coast of Ocean City would be put out for bid early in 2014. Already, one major player, Virginia-based Dominion Energy, announced its intention to bid on Maryland’s wind energy area and others are expected to soon follow suit.
Just last week, a study released by Stanford University, in partnership with the University of Delaware, suggests offshore wind farms with thousands of turbines, could siphon away the energy from hurricanes and coastal storms and significantly reduce peak wind speeds and lower storm surges. Noted Stanford civil and environmental engineering professor Mark Jacobson conducted the research with the help of University of Delaware professors Cristina Archer and Willett Kempton.

Stonewalling Wicomico Citizens HB-1279 - Letter to the Editor
At the first Legislative Breakfast for this new session Mr. Pollitt had made some inquires about the best time to submit legislation for new bills. I believe it was Mr. Conway who said it was nice to have them submitted early so as to be sure they would get through the legislative procedure. Mr. Pollitt then went on to explore avenues of getting increased revenues for the County, and, in particular mentioned a SPECIAL TAX on maybe gas or a county sales tax.
On January 26th I emailed Delegate Conway to ask if he had seen any legislation in this area and what were his thoughts on those ideas. So far I haven't received an answer, but, Delegate Conway did acknowledge the receipt of my e-mail at the second Legislative Breakfast back in February - and stated that he would contact his office about getting back to me. So far - I'm still awaiting a response, but I believe I have found out what has transpired.
At the first Tuesday evening meeting of the County Council, during the public input section, I expressed my concerns about any new bills being introduced that could give our County powers to invoke these additional taxes. Mr. Strausburg came into the room with his hand in the air and assured me that he did not know of any such bills being introduced. About this time many people were showing concerns about why Mr. Pollitt was spending so much time in Annapolis. It was even speculated that he might be job hunting for a government position. I really have no idea what he was doing but could only speculate by what I was reading. Well low and behold, on the very last day of introducing new legislation for new bills and just about at the last hour a new House Bill pops up - HB-1279 - (click onto link). Read this bill - it gives Pollitt everything he wanted and he and Delegate Conway can use the old plausibility out of say; 'we didn't write that and we had nothing to do with it.'

Sears Repair Center - 'Another One Bites The Dust'
Today, I went over to Sears Retail Sales Center that was located on W. Naylor Mill Road, just behind Lowe's, to try and get a replacement part for my cordless drill. I knew that Sears had reported bad sales numbers for the past few quarters, but I was a little surprised to see such a sudden departure. Last month - JC Penny's reported it was closing and now Sears Parts Center.
This is yet another negative indicator of Salisbury's sagging economy.
Baltimore City Cop Charged In Animal Cruelty Case
A Baltimore City police officer was arrested for intentionally and cruelly killing a seven-month-old puppy. Alec Eugene Taylor, age 27, is now charged with aggravated animal cruelty and abuse or neglect of an animal.
The puppy was his girlfriend's, who Taylor allegedly texted a photograph of what appeared to be a lifeless dog. Taylor killed their seven-month-old Jack Russell Terrier named Rocko.
Taylor told his girlfriend that he was tired of cleaning up the dog’s defecation and that he had beaten the dog with a mop. He also said that he had placed the deceased dog in a dumpster in the parking lot. She later asked him if he could remove Rocko from the dumpster so that she could bury the dog. She returned home from work, retrieved the deceased dog from a shoebox on the apartment balcony, and buried the dog at a neighborhood park in Hyattsville.

Minimum Wage Hike Will Likely Pass
I've been in regular contact with Legislators in Annapolis and the tone is, expect the bill to pass Friday.
Here's the interesting part though. In Prince Georges County, Six Flags will be EXEMPT. Delegate Mike McDermott asked that seasonal workers in Ocean City be exempt, (waiter/waitresses/bartenders) and it was denied.
I also learned that Seniors will NOT be exempt either. This means those people over 62 years old will more than likely be reducing their hours because of penalties. Go figure, O'Malley has figured a way to create more part time jobs and is driving our seniors out of work.
I sure do hope the people of Wicomico & Worcester County wake up and vote Republican in the upcoming elections because the Eastern Shore's special needs are being ignored.

Reid Hits Koch Brothers For Putting Money In Politics With Incendiary Speech
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday singled out the Koch brothers in an incendiary speech on the chamber floor, calling their involvement in politics “un-American” and accusing them of trying to use their wealth to undermine democracy.
His opening remarks stoked a feud that has grown nastier week by week as Democrats worry about their prospects in November’s elections.
Groups associated with Charles and David Koch, billionaire industrialists with deep ties to libertarian and conservative circles, have been running ads attacking Obamacare.

Harrier Added To June’s Air Show Performer List
OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Air Show announced this week it will be one of only six events in the nation that will feature a demonstration by the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier during this summer’s event.
The Harrier is one of the most sought after military aircraft demonstrations because of its unique ability to hover and perform a vertical take-off and landing. A Harrier demo at an oceanfront venue is dramatic because of the spray it creates when it descends vertically to hover just a few hundred feet above the surface of the water.
The 7th Annual OC Air Show to take place June 14-15 will be the only air show of the year in the mid-Atlantic region to feature a Harrier demo. The U.S. Marine Corps is the third branch of the U.S. military to announce support for the OC Air Show. The U.S. Army Silver Wings Parachute Team will also perform and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the event.

Put Your Seat Trays In The Upright Position, There's More To Come Tomorrow
The story that brought in over 200 comments the other day is about to get revived.
Salisbury News has unearthed MORE evidence and we plan to bring it to light again tomorrow morning.
I wonder what's taking the rest of the local media so long. Oh, that's right. The Chamber of Commerce and local businesses only want them to tell you good stories about Salisbury or they might lose their advertisers.
We'll See You Tomorrow.
Tell Us Again Mayor Ireton WHY Salisbury Is Volunteering To Participate In Rain Tax When We're NOT Required To
The Rain Tax is a stormwater management fee that is imposed on property owners in 10 jurisdictions out of Maryland's 23 jurisdictions. Each of those 10 jurisdictions (9 counties plus Baltimore City) have formulated their own fee structure. These fees are billed to property owners on their property tax bill. If you live in one of the 10 jurisdictions with a rain tax fee, you will see it listed as a, "storm water management fee" on your annual/semi-annual property tax bill.
Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Charles, Harford, Howard, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince Georges counties are the 10 affected jurisdictions in Maryland. Each of these jurisdictions charge property owners a completely different fee, ranging from $1 to $774,000 per year billed to Sparrows Point in eastern Baltimore County.
The rain tax was passed to clean up the Chesapeake Bay. While this is an important policy, the rain tax is a poorly conceived and poorly executed plan. The 10 jurisdictions required to pay the rain tax make up only 13% of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Lower Fees And Protections For Opting Out Of Smart Meters Proposed
Some Marylanders are apprehensive that a digital, smart meter system measuring their electricity use violates their privacy and will heap on costs to electric bills. They are supporting legislation that would allow an inexpensive opt-out option.
Sen. Delores Kelley, a Baltimore County Democrat, told the Senate Finance committee Tuesday that SB 880 offers a solution both satisfying to constituents and fair to the electric companies.
Smart meters transmit data to the utilities, providing more accurate readings, the companies say. They remove the need for meter readers, and companies are gradually replacing the old, analog units, unless a resident explicitly opts out.

Mitchell Campaign Trying To Use Salisbury News To Promote Fundraiser
In typical CHUCK COOK style, the Mitchell Campaign is trying to use our comments to publish County Council Candidate Laura Mitchell fundraisers. Yes, not one but a few of them.
Clearly JT can't provide enough traffic to get more than 2 or 3 people to show up and or people who have any MONEY so in typical Chuck Cook/Frank Kratovil style they are trying to use our Website to get people to show up.
We will continue to REJECT those comments. Remember Laura, I have "THE SMOKING GUN" against you that will come out two weeks before the election. YOU WILL LOSE.

Judge Rejects Financial Support Requests By New Jersey Teen Suing Parents
A New Jersey honor student suing her parents in a potentially precedent-setting lawsuit had her motions for financial support, including high school tuition payment, denied Tuesday by a judge who said it would set a bad precedent by setting limits on parenting.
Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, was denied her requests for child support of $654 a week as well as thousands of dollars in attorney fees and immediate reimbursement of her high school tuition.
Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard also ruled that Rachel’s parents must keep her on their health insurance policy and keep status quo on all college savings accounts set up for her.

N.J. Teen Sues Parents, Claims They Kicked Her Out
A bitter family battle was playing out in a New Jersey courtroom Monday, as an 18-year-old student has sued her parents claiming they kicked her out and demanded she pay for her own college education.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow blames George Bush for Ukraine
On Monday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow told Andrea Mitchell that Bush administration policies in the Middle East are to blame for practically everything, including the current crisis in Ukraine, Newsmax reported.
“The decisions of our generation on national security are determined more than anything by what the George W. Bush administration did with that 9-year war in Iraq and, alongside it, a 13-year war in Afghanistan that’s still going on," Maddow said. "And the American people are against those wars."
“Those are the determinative constraints for our thinking about everything,” she added, “from Crimea, to Syria, to what the overall size of the U.S. military is.”

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 3-4-14
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Police:"IF NECESSARY"...Will Go Door To Door To Ta...":
Lock and Load! Time to stock up on the Ammo. Join your local Militia. In the mean time you have an election coming up in November. If you believe in gun rights as well as your property rights the best thing you can do for your country is vote for the best Republican. No more I'm voting for Norman Conway because he is a nice guy and he looks out for the shore. No Dumb Dumb Norman Conway looks out for himself. No more voting for Jim Mathias because he was Ocean City's Mayor and he is a nice guy and he will look out for the Eastern Shore. No Sleeping Beauty he might be a nice guy, but he is looking out for himself. No more voting for people like Barbara Mikulski because she is a nice lady and she looks out for the Eastern Shore. No Barbara Mikulski looks out for herself and herself only. These Democrats are strict Democrats and rarely ever cross the aisle. The Democrats have already made their decision before something comes up for a vote. The meet on issues and decide what they are going to do and how they are going to vote before the issue is voted on. Yes they meet on the issues and no Republicans are invited. If you think this doesn't happen then you are a fool. What do you think Rick Pollitt spends all his time in Annapolis for? He is meeting with other Democrats and lining up his future in politics.
If we want to save out country and our rights we need to vote for every Republican on the ballot whether you like them or not. This goes for town and county elections even if they are non partisan. No more Jim Ireton's, Jake Day's and Laura Mitchell's. WTH were you guys thinking. In the city election the Republican Party needs to find good candidates for the Mayor in Council. We have a County election coming up and you have to vote Republican. I have seen some negative comments on her about John Cannon. Guess what he may be a RINO at times, but your other choices are Laura Mitchell and Muir Boda. Laura is a blood sucking leech on the tax payers and Muir Boda is not a Republican, he is a liberal Libertarian who switched parties just to have a better shot and winning an election. The candidates to avoid in the County elections are Laura Mitchell, Muir Boda, Kirby Travers, Ernie Davis, Josh Hastings and Ron Pagano.
In the state elections avoid Norman Conway and Jim Mathias by all means.
To all good Democrat voters it is important that you cross party lines in the general elections and vote Republican. If you want your country back it is important that you have an open mind and vote Republican. You may even want to reconsider your party affiliation, but do not vote for a Democrat again. We need to get rid of the straight down the party line Democrats as they have ruined our country. Think about how many jobs are lost? How much money you lost in the stock market? If you are a farmer your property rights are gone. How much has gas gone up since 2008? How much has taxes gone up since 2008? Do not believe the Jim Ireton's and Chuck Cook's of the Democrat Party. They are the reason Salisbury and the state of Maryland are in the shape it's in. Please vote Republican on November 4, 2014!!

Bakery Refuses To Fix Lesbian's Anti-Gay Anniversary Cake
A Washington, D.C. woman ordered an anniversary cake from a local bakery in nearby Arlington, Virginia, and when she opened the box she found a big, anti-gay surprise. The woman, who wants to be identified only as “Sarah,” had ordered the cake from a template, and asked the bakery to not include the balloons that were in the catalog.
The message, as you can see above, reads, “Lesbian Anniv., No Balloons.”
Now, of course your first thought would be that perhaps a new employee read the order ticket wrong and made a mistake. Sadly, you’d be the one making the mistake.
The bakery indeed, according to a report by The Advocate‘s Sunnivie Brydum, intended the anti-gay message, and refuses to apologize for it.

'Gay' U.S. Soldiers Caught In Astonishing Act
Almost seven decades after being the scene of one of the most ferocious and protracted battles of World War II – a site of legendary valor and sacrifice on the part of American soldiers – some U.S. service personnel stationed in Okinawa today are treating the world to another kind of display: “Gay” and lesbian service personnel performing in drag, to raise funds for their activities, to a sellout audience.
As reported Sunday, openly homosexual service members at Okinawa’s Kadena Air Base took to the stage and performed as “drag queens” and “drag kings” Saturday “on a military installation in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender troops.”

Couple's Gold Discovery Will Be Taxed At Top Federal Rate
The Gold Country couple who unearthed at least $10 million worth of 19th century gold coins in their yard last year will probably owe close to half of that sum in federal and state income tax - whether or not they sell the coins.
There is no question that the discovery of the coins is a taxable event. In a famous 1969 decision, a U.S. District Court in Ohio ruled that a "treasure trove" is taxable the year it is discovered. In that case, Cesarini vs. United States, a couple bought a used piano in 1957 for about $15. In 1964, they found $4,467 in old currency inside it.
The court ruled that the money constituted ordinary income in 1964, the year in which they had "undisputed possession" of the funds. It did not qualify for the lower capital gains tax rate because neither the piano nor the currency were sold or exchanged.
In its 2013 tax guide, the IRS states, "If you find and keep property that does not belong to you that has been lost or abandoned (treasure-trove), it is taxable to you at its fair market value in the first year it is your undisputed possession."
