DOVER, Del. — A Delaware man who underwent a colonoscopy awoke after the procedure to find he was wearing pink women's underwear, according to a lawsuit.
Plaintiff Andrew Walls, of Dover, Del., was not pleased, or amused, and this month filed a civil suit in New Castle County Superior Court against the Delaware Surgery Center in Dover seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
"The defendant's extreme and outrageous conduct went beyond all possible bounds of decency," wrote attorney Gary Nitsche in the complaint on behalf of Walls.

WHO Warns Up To 10,000 Ebola Cases Per Week By December
With more than 4,400 people dead from Ebola - mainly in West Africa - senior WHO official Bruce Aylward told reporters on Monday that the outbreak was continuing to spread geographically to new districts in the capitals of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. As The BBC reports, [4] the WHO says it is alarmed by the number of health workers exposed to the disease and warned the epidemic threatens the "very survival" of societies and could lead to failed states. "Any sense that the great effort that's been kicked off over the last couple of months is already starting to see an impact, that would be really, really premature," Aylward said, as WHO further warned the number of new Ebola cases may jump to 10,000 a week by Dec. 1 as the deadly viral infection spreads - "the virus is still moving geographically and still escalating in capitals, and that’s what concerns me."

Pennies From Hell: Change We Can't Believe In
The cost for the U.S. government to produce pennies and nickels is more than the face value of the coins, a government watchdog points out.
Judicial Watch, in a statement Wednesday, called it an “egregious waste” and a “fleecing.”
The U.S. Treasury’s practice, Judicial Watch said, “means hundreds of millions of coins have been sold well below cost.”
“Incredibly, the government has knowingly done this for at least eight years and actually documented the egregious waste in several reports though nothing has been done to stop it,” Judicial Watch said. “In fact, both the Treasury and the Bureau of the Mint have extensive documentation on this, yet it continues today.”

Ebola and the Danger of Globalization
Whatever the cause - conspiracy or incompetence - the recent Ebola outbreak illustrates the dangers of centralized globalization, and opens the door to possible solutions
Sierra Leone, and Liberia – the former being where the first case was reported, the latter being hit the hardest. Other nations including Senegal, Nigeria, and Mali have had cases reported but were contained and the spread of the disease there appears to have stopped. Nations like Uganda who have grappled with Ebola and similar diseases have yet to be affected and are believed to have suitable measures in place to zero in and contain the virus.
Beyond countries in West Africa, Spain, the United States, Brazil, and now Germany have reported travel-associated cases of Ebola as well as infections of health workers who apparently breached protocols while handling infected patients.
Characteristics of Ebola and Current Countermeasures
The Ebola virus itself has an incubation period of between 2-21 days. It is not believed to be infectious until symptoms begin to form, however, it can cause infections for up to seven weeks after a patient recovers. Because of its varying incubation period, those infected have between 2-21 days to travel before any form of “screening” currently being done at airports would detect a fever and therefore be able to identify, contain, and treat possible Ebola cases. This means that the infected could be traveling into foreign countries, well past ports of entry and screening points before their symptoms and ability to infect others begin to manifest themselves.
Upon contracting Ebola, patients may begin to exhibit a fever and complain of abdominal pain but otherwise exhibit few other symptoms. It is only until later stages of the infection that Ebola may cause rashes and bleeding – and some patients never develop these symptoms at all. A complete list of symptoms is available at the CDC’s website.

Former Councilman Cleared To Run For Council In 5-2 Vote
OCEAN CITY – Following two public hearings regarding the authenticity of council candidate residencies, one familiar name — former Councilman Joe Hall — was allowed to run while newcomer Philip Ufholz was denied.
Following the filing deadline last Monday evening, City Clerk Kelly Allmond presented the final list of candidates filed to run in the municipal election on Nov. 4 to the Mayor and City Council for approval. She announced a total of nine candidates to fill four open council seats, and Mayor Rick Meehan filed for re-election unchallenged.
The only incumbent to file for re-election for council was Council President Lloyd Martin, who has been in office since 2002. Councilman Brent Ashley, elected in 2010, and Councilwoman Margaret Pillas, elected in 2006, have decided not to seek another term, and Councilman Joe Mitrecic submitted his resignation as he is unopposed to represent Ocean City on the Worcester County Commission. Mitrecic served on the council from 2002-2010 and after losing in 2010 was elected back to the council in 2012.

Democrats Try To Deflect Blame For Ebola Outbreak, Fail Abysmally
A ridiculous and over-the-top ad produced by a progressive non-profit blames Republican budget cuts for the Ebola outbreak in an attempt to deflect criticism away from the incompetent Obama administration.
Via RCP:
The Agenda Project is a progressive non-profit political organization founded in 2010 by author Erica Payne. This ad, featuring clips of Mitch McConnell, Pat Roberts, and many other Republicans implies that austerity cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and National Institutes of Health are responsible for the 2014 Ebola outbreak.
The ad, titled "Republican Cuts Kill," will run in Kentucky and other states leading up to the election.

NEW STATE POLICE AW-139 HELICOPTER NOW IN FULL-SERVICE MISSION OPERATION AT CUMBERLAND SECTION
Maryland State Police Press Release 10/15/2014
(CUMBERLAND, MD) -- Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Marcus L. Brown was joined by Delegate Kevin Kelly, Senator George Edwards, Ms. Patricia Gainer, Co-Executive Director of the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System, and other state officials, Aviation Command members, and emergency services personnel today to officially mark the commencement of full-service mission operation of the new AgustaWestland AW 139 helicopter at the Cumberland Section.
The pilots and flight paramedics who staff “Trooper 5” are now fully trained on the new aircraft. They are flying the new helicopter around the clock on all Aviation Command missions assigned to the Cumberland Section, which is located at the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport.
“What we’re talking about today is our ongoing fulfillment of a promise made to the people of Maryland to continue improving public safety even in the face of some pretty tough economic times,” Governor Martin O’Malley said. “We will continue to make the critical investments necessary to give Maryland’s world renowned, integrated, emergency medical services system the equipment they need to do their jobs and the latest in aviation technology and safety to help save more lives.”
“This new helicopter and the others being deployed represent an incredible improvement to public safety capabilities in Maryland,” Colonel Marcus Brown said. “The new aircraft provides a safer aircraft for our crews, with more room and equipment for our flight paramedics to care for the injured. I thank Governor O’Malley who, with the support of the General Assembly, fulfilled his promise to the State Police, our public safety partners, and to the people of Maryland. These new aircraft will be put to good use and will, along with our EMS partners, continue the amazing lifesaving response and care Maryland is known for.”
“For over four decades the crews of the Maryland State Police helicopters have saved countless lives by rescuing, providing care, and transporting those in medical need,” said Ms. Patricia Gainer, MIEMSS Co-Executive Director. “Today, we celebrate the deployment of a new aircraft in Western Maryland that will enable the members of the Aviation Command to continue to serve the citizens of this area in a safer, more effective way.”
“A transition of this magnitude would have never been possible without the hard work, commitment and dedication of our training staff and crew members at the Cumberland Section,” said Major Frank Lioi, Commander of the Maryland State Police Aviation Command. “This transition is unlike any in the history of our program. We are not only transitioning to a new helicopter, but we are expanding from a two member crew to a four member crew to better serve the citizens of Maryland. The new AW 139 helicopters provide a state-of-the-art aircraft, employing the latest technologies to keep our crew members and patients as safe as possible, while our personnel perform their medevac, law enforcement, search and rescue, and homeland security missions.”
The new helicopters contain the latest in avionics and safety equipment, including terrain awareness warning systems, night vision compatibility, cockpit voice and video recorders, radar altimeters, and advanced instrument flight rating capabilities, all recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration. The new helicopters provide more space in the patient and cargo areas, enabling flight paramedics to have better access to patients and to carry rescue equipment on board all the time.
The new aircraft also have satellite tracking and downlink video capabilities, as well as interoperable communication.
The twin engines on the helicopters are more powerful than those on the existing aircraft. This is important, especially during a hoist rescue operation. The new aircraft will enable the crew to fly the aircraft away if an engine fails during a hoist operation. Currently, the aircraft will stay aloft if an engine fails, but the hoist rescue must be terminated before the aircraft can leave the scene. According to AgustaWestland, the new helicopter is the fastest in its class, has the largest cabin space of any helicopter in the same weight class, and is the only helicopter in its class that meets or exceeds all the latest civil certification safety requirements.
Due to the significant advancement in technology on the new helicopters, State Police helicopter pilots and flight paramedics are undergoing extensive training on the new aircraft. In addition to pilots learning the new aircraft requirements, the flight paramedics must also become familiar with the new medical equipment and configurations in the aircraft.
Training is being conducted systematically at each individual Aviation Command section. As of today, crews have been fully trained and new helicopters deployed at the Frederick, Easton, Salisbury, Southern Maryland, Washington, and Cumberland sections.
Training is now being conducted with the crews of Trooper 1 at the Baltimore Section. The training of the Baltimore Section will complete the Maryland State Police transition to the new helicopter fleet in just eighteen months and well ahead of schedule.
‘Unemployed’ Man in Dem Attack Ad is Actually Employed
The Democratic Governors Association has again run into trouble with one of the ads it is funding, this time using a picture of a man employed by a company that has praised Maine Republican Governor Paul LePage to represent one of the state’s unemployed.
The ad comes from Maine Forward PAC, a group funded largely by the DGA, which threw nearly $1 million into the group in September alone. The DGA was one of the founding organizations for the PAC, along with some of Maine’s largest labor unions.
The ad attempts to paint a somber picture of Maine’s economic situation, and blames LePage for the state’s 40,000 unemployed individuals. But the main image used to represent the unemployed is a man named Roger Gay who is not unemployed at all.
Here Gay is, shown to be unemployed:

Dover Int’l Speedway Moves Quickly To Remove Seats
Weeks after internal talks became public, Dover International Speedway is removing 17,500 seats from their grandstands.
That leaves just over 95,000 seats left at the Monster Mile which just finished hosting its second race weekend of 2014 NASCAR season just over two weeks ago.
A removal team arrived not long after that, says communications director Gary Camp.
“We were anxious to get going with the removal just to avoid the Dover Downs harness racing season as much as possible. So we got a jump on it right after the race ended,” said Camp.

My Fiancé Was Beaten in DC
On the morning of September 24th I received a call from my fiancé. Her speech was frantic and staggered. It sounded as if she was crying. Less than one mile from where I was using the gym, a stranger attacked her on her way to work. Without any provocation or warning, the stranger (we later found out he is an Air Force vet living on the streets) punched her on the face and dropped her to her knees. According to witnesses he walked – calmly – across the street and punched another woman. She was struck on the face. From there, the stranger walked away – still without any sense of urgency – and disappeared into Washington DC’s busy streets. He was eventually arrested and at the moment he is being pushed through the court system.
Based on the numbers from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) this was a successful end to a terrible event. The police should be applauded for doing the difficult job of protecting the people of the nation’s capitol. The helpless women who were attacked should be thankful that the Boys in Blue were there, in the nick of time!
But the numbers only tell a small part of the story. What the numbers won’t mention – what the apologists for the State won’t consider – are the events that happened between the first assault and the eventual apprehension of the Stranger by the police. (NB: I am calling him the Stranger because despite the wrong being committed against her, my fiancé has been given few details about the assailant).
The fact of the Stranger’s eventual arrest was precipitated by the deeds of caring and proactive individuals. Without their courage and thoughtfulness the deranged stranger would still be on the streets. The DC police were nothing but a Johnny Come Lately.

10 Things Every Black American Should Know About Dr. Ben Carson Before Forming Any Opinion of Him
Dr. Ben Carson catapulted onto the national scene after providing an alternative to Obamacare at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, with President Obama looking on only a few feet away.
But it’s the story of where Carson came from and how he ended up where he is that is so captivating to many. Because his story is so transcending and uplifting, here are ten reasons why black Americans should give the presumed GOP presidential candidate a fair chance before judging him along partisan lines:
#1. Ben Carson came from nothing.

Teenage Obesity Increased During First Two Years of First Lady’s ‘Let’s Move’ Program
In the first two years since First Lady Michelle Obama launched her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign to fight childhood obesity in 2010, teenage obesity rates increased, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
From 2009-2010, 18.4 percent of children ages 12-19 were classified as obese, according to the CDC. Since then, from 2011-2012, one in five children ages 12-19 or 20.5 percent, were classified as obese, an increase of 11.4 percent. The CDC has been tracking these data since 1966-1970, and at that time only 4.6 percent of teens were classified as obese.
“The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake,” Mrs. Obama saidat the time of the Let’s Move program launch. “This isn’t the kind of problem that can be solved overnight, but with everyone working together, it can be solved. So, let’s move.”

Emails show ‘cozy’ ties between EPA, environmental group over power-plant rules, senator says
Newly released emails detail what Republicans say are "cozy" ties between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a top environmental advocacy group, raising questions about the group's influence -- and participation -- in the Obama administration's so-called "War on Coal."
One 2010 exchange even shows the agency's future boss and a senior environmental lawyer praising each other over a legal settlement, though they ostensibly were on opposing sides of that case.
The emails, released by Republicans on the Senate environment committee, come as GOP lawmakers pursue an investigation into possible "collusion" between the EPA and the Natural Resources Defense Council in drafting what they claim are onerous federal regulations on coal-fired power plants and other sectors.
Lawmakers and industry groups have long questioned how much influence the NRDC has in guiding far-reaching environmental regulations proposed under the Obama administration. The new emails reflect, at least, a close relationship between top EPA officials and advocates with the organization.

Second Ebola-Infected Nurse Identified, Was Symptomatic With 99.5 Degree Fever While Flying
Just about an hour ago, the CDC's Tom Frieden held a press conference in which he tried to diffuse the CDC's incompetence for a allowing healthcare workers who cared for the now deceased "Index Patient" Thomas Eric Duncan, to board a plane. A worker, who as was reported earlier today, was confirmed sick with the deadly virus. Still, in order to defend his agency from accusations of gross incompetence, of which it clearly is guilty, Frieden said that...
NEW PATIENT HADN'T BEEN BLEEDING OR VOMITING BEFORE FLIGHT
... Although, he promptly pushed the ball of blame back in her court adding that:
NEW PATIENT KNOWINGLY EXPOSED TO EBOLA, SHOULDN'T HAVE FLOWN
But what is worse, is that as the WaPo reports [4]the nurse had a fever of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit before boarding a passenger jet on Monday, a day before she reported symptoms of the virus and was tested, according to public health officials. "Even though there appeared to be little risk for the other people on that flight, she should not have traveled that way, Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said during a news conference Wednesday."
“She should not have flown on a commercial airline,” Frieden said.

The Kiss Of Death For Brown
We’ve got some really exciting news - This Sunday, President Barack Obama is coming to Maryland to lead an Early Vote rally for our campaign - and you're invited!
President Obama understands that working families face a clear choice between two very different futures in this election. He knows that unless we can get out the vote, Maryland could take a major step backward – but we’re not going to let that happen.
I can't think of a better way to fire up our team and highlight the importance of early voting than a major “Get Out the Vote” rally with President Obama. This is one event you won’t want to miss.

Md. Police Dept. Adds Nearly Silent Motorbikes To Fleet
BOWIE, Md. -- Blue lights may be flashing in your rearview mirror, but if a motorcycle police officer is hot on your trail in Bowie, Maryland, you may not hear the familiar throaty engine rumble.
The Bowie Police Department has become the first in Maryland to deploy quiet, energy-efficient electric motorcycles. The city has purchased two.
Situated between the District and Annapolis, the city of nearly 55,000 has plenty of open space.
"Bowie has 13 parks and over 50 miles of trails," explains Police Chief John Nesky. "This is going to help us cover both the trails and the patrol streets."

Second U.S. health worker infected with Ebola flew the day before symptoms
The second Dallas health care worker who contracted the Ebola virus was on a flight the day before her symptoms, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday.
Now, the CDC wants to interview all 132 passengers who were on the plane with her.
The woman's name is Amber Vinson, the Reuters news agency reported.
"Because of the proximity in time between the evening flight and first report of illness the following morning, CDC is reaching out to passengers who flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth Oct. 13," the CDC said in a statement. The flight landed Monday at 8:16 p.m. CT.

Yet another significicant paper finds low climate sensitivity to CO2, suggesting there is no global warming crisis at hand
Takes the air out of the alarmism balloon
Hot on the heels of the Lewis and Curry paper, we have this new paper, which looks to be well researched, empirically based, and a potential blockbuster for dimming the alarmism that has been so prevalent over climate sensitivity. With a climate sensitivity of just 0.43°C, it takes the air out of the alarmism balloon.
The Hockey Schtick writes: A new paper published in the Open Journal of Atmospheric and Climate Change by renowned professor of physics and expert on spectroscopy Dr. Hermann Harde finds that climate sensitivity to a doubling of CO2 levels is only about 0.43C, about 7 times less than the IPCC claims, but in line with many other published low estimates of climate sensitivity.
The paper further establishes that climate sensitivity to tiny changes in solar activity is comparable to that of CO2 and by no means insignificant as the IPCC prefers to claim.
The following is a Google translation from the German EIKE site with an overview of the main findings of the paper, followed by a link to the full paper [in English].
Assessment of global warming due to CO2 and solar influence
Currently climate sensitivity (discussed for example here ) is claimed by the IPCC mid-value to be 3.0 C (AR4) as the most probable value, but others have determined much lower values of 1.73C or 1C or even 0.43C. Prof. Hermann Harde, renowned physicist and Spektral analytiker has determined from his new paper the climate sensitivity is 0.43 C

Today's Survey Question 10-15-14
Director Bryant is totally relying on the federal government when it comes to Ebola. Many do not trust the DHS, FEMA or CDC here in Wicomico County.
Do you think a ten minute staff meeting and memo to airport workers about "keeping an eye out" is proper protocol?

Local Elections with Lasting National Import
What’s at stake this November is the president’s vision for remaking America.
Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill once said, “All politics is local.” That may have been true in Tip O’Neill’s day, but some elections are decisively on national issues — and the congressional elections this year are overwhelmingly national, just as the elections of 1860 were dominated by one national issue, namely slavery.
In 1860, some abolitionists split the anti-slavery vote by running their own candidate — who had no chance of winning — instead of supporting Abraham Lincoln, who was not pure enough for some abolitionists. Lincoln got just 40 percent of the vote, though that turned out to be enough to win in a crowded field.
But what a gamble with the fate of millions of human beings held as slaves! And for what? Symbolic political purity?

Airport Ebola Screens Designed to Fail
It is pretty hard to trust or admire our government on a good day.
However, this is more of a theoretical concern than a practical one, since they haven't had a whole lot of them lately.
In July alone, workers for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stumbled across an unsecured box of smallpox, which had been sitting around in a storage room for decades. Shortly thereafter, a different group managed to send out live anthrax (it was supposed to be dead) to research labs resulting in dozens of scientists being exposed, and subsequently treated with antibiotics.
Ironically, only two months earlier, the CDC was participating in an ongoing debate about whether to destroy the "last" remaining sample of smallpox. Maybe they ought to put that on hold for awhile.
At the time, CDC director "Clueless Tom Frieden" (no relation to Shoeless Joe Jackson), who has led the agency since 2009, cleared this up: “We missed the broader pattern.” I don't know what this means, but I suspect it is government speak for "We really f######ed this up, but it's not my fault."

Funeral Homes Get Marching Orders From CDC On Ebola
Funeral homes have received guidelines from the CDC on how to handle any deaths from Ebola.
Michael Ruck Senior, owner of Ruck Funeral Homes says the guidelines state that if a person dies from Ebola, the body should be cremated immediately. If the family objects to cremation then the body will be buried immediately.
"There will be no visitation or viewing prior to the burial" says Ruck.
The bodies will not be embalmed. If the body is buried it will need to be in a hermetically sealed casket.
He tells WBAL Newsradio 1090 that it is extremely important that funeral homes be notified if a person dies from an infectious disease like Ebola.

My Coming Out Story: Telling My Liberal Parents I’m Pro-Life
Washington, DC (LiveActionNews) — Mom, Dad, I’m pro-life.
The day I “outed” myself to my ultra-liberal family, I was terrified. These are the people who basically tried to bully me into aborting my son (aka, their grandson) back in 2011. Lord knows I love them, but I was seriously considering taking this to the grave.
You’ve got to understand that I’ve always been the person in my family to keep my opinions to myself. Thank goodness I didn’t do that when I found out I was pregnant at 17 years old.
Sierra and her husband.
I can date back several family issues that came up where I would nod my head and go to my room to keep from saying what I thought. By that time, my thoughts sounded like screams, and my ears would burn.
It’s very interesting to me that I’ve done this, because my parents have always encouraged my brother and me to speak our minds. And to be fair, sometimes I did. I was in the GSA in high school. I helped lead a peace rally. But should I go against my family’s beliefs?
I know this spiritual transformation I’ve been going through might look completely foreign to members of my family, but really it shouldn’t. They drove me to church, dropped me off, and then picked me up. I loved church. I’ve always loved God. I’ve always loved the messages of Jesus Christ.
Now, at 19, I am taking these things more seriously and trying to live like a Christian in every aspect of my life. I’ve noticed the gifts God has given me that I’ve stuffed down for so long. I have a voice.I’ve always used this voice in music, and my parents were always blown away by my sometimes very dark, deep lyrics.
At some point, your ears are burning too much that you just POP! Well, now I use my voice.

Proactive Policing Is Not ‘Racial Profiling’
If officers back off from legitimate police actions, residents in high-crime minority neighborhoods will be the first to suffer.
Here’s the latest definition of “racial profiling:” taking legitimate police action against a black criminal. This definition comes to us by way of St. Louis, where a new set of property-destroying protests have broken out, in addition to the daily agitation in Ferguson, Mo. The protest trigger this time: An officer killed a black teenager who had been shooting at the officer with a stolen handgun. This latest agitation and the rhetoric around it are a troubling indication that the demagoguery against the police is spinning dangerously out of control
According to the police report, on Wednesday night, an off-duty officer waspatrolling a St. Louis neighborhood for a private security company searching for suspects in a recent home invasion. The officer was in uniform and presumably driving a marked car. When a group of three men saw the officer, one took off running. The officer made a U-turn in his car, and the other two men started running as well. The officer noticed that one of the men was holding his waistband as if he had a gun, and the officer then pursued on foot. The suspect, 18-year-old Vonderrit D. Myers, got into an “intense struggle” with the officer, according to the incident report, then shot off three rounds at him. The officer responded with fire as Myers continued to pull the trigger; Myers’s gun jammed, and the officer killed Myers.

All That Is Broken With The US Financial System In One Chart
We have shown this chart before. We will show it again because, to nobody's surprise, nothing has changed since then.
The chart in question, which we believe demonstrates all that is wrong with the US financial and banking system, shows JPM's quarterly deposits, which in Q3 just hit a new all time record of $1.335 trillion, and its loans, which despite the much hyped rebound in Q2, once again declined to $743 billion from $747 billion in Q2 (so much for that lending-driven recovery?) leading to a new record low Loan-to-Deposit ratio of 56%. So while deposits are obviously hitting new record nominal highs quarter after quarter, when was the last time JPM's loans printed at all time highs? The answer: just as Lehman filed for bankruptcy, when the number was $761 billion.

Labor unions less enthusiastic about Democrats ahead of midterm elections
Leaders express disappointment with candidates, frustration over Obamacare, Keystone pipeline
Labor unions, long a rich source of ground troops for national Democrats’ Election Day victories, are less enthusiastic this year, according to some movement leaders who say they are more focused on state-level races and feel left behind by the party on key issues such as Obamacare.
While public sector unions remain almost universally supportive of congressional Democrats, more traditional labor unions in key industries and key states express frustration with the party or say they haven’t been given a reason to get as deeply involved in the midterm elections.
In Ohio, no U.S. Senate races and few House races are on the ballots to energize unions. Unions also aren’t thrilled with the gubernatorial options the Democrats and Republicans have offered, said Eric Stevenson, an organizer for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 189 in Columbus.

MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN CAROLINE COUNTY FATAL SHOOTING
Maryland State Police Press Release
10/15/2014
10/15/2014
(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the murder of a 25 year old man in Caroline County.
The suspect arrested is identified as James Bolden, 55, of Federalsburg, Maryland. He is currently being held in police custody at the Federalsburg Police Department, awaiting transport to the Office of the Court Commissioner. After consultation with the Caroline County State’s Attorney, State Police homicide investigators charged Bolden with first degree murder.
Bolden is charged in connection with the death of Timothy Darnell Smith, Jr., 25, of the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Federalsburg. At 8:00 p.m. last night, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a nearby resident who heard the gunshot. The responding police officers found Smith with a gunshot wound to his chest and immediately attempted medical treatment at the scene. Smith was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was later transported to the Georgetown Delaware Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning, Bolden was located at a residence in the 300 block of Park Avenue in Federalsburg and taken into custody by members of the Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team. He was transported to the Federalsburg Police Department where he has been in police custody since.
Video footage from a nearby camera provided a vehicle description for the car, reportedly in the area at the time of the incident. Investigators located the vehicle, which subsequently resulted in locating the suspect in the shooting. Police do not have a motive for the murder at this time.
Investigators continue to interview area residents about what they may have seen or heard. Anyone who may have been driving in the area of Academy Street and Main Street between 7:30 p.m and 8:00 p.m., yesterday is urged to contact Maryland State Police homicide investigators at the Easton Barrack 410-822-3101 or the Federalsburg Police Department 410-754-8966.

Democrats Are Expecting To Get Shellacked In The House
WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats' high hopes of mitigating House losses in a rough election year have been dashed by reality.
The question now is not whether Republicans hold the House — that's a given. Rather, it's how many seats could the GOP add to its majority on Election Day? And how close could it get to its post-World War II high of 246 in Harry S. Truman's administration?
Three weeks to Nov. 4, the House outlook remains bright for the GOP as national Democrats bail on once-promising opportunities in Virginia and Colorado, canceling television advertising to shift money to efforts to save vulnerable incumbents in Democratic-leaning states such as California and Illinois. Democrats also are transferring some of the cash to races where they stand a better chance.

Participate in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Preparedness Drill on 10/16 at 10:16 a.m.
When an earthquake hit the mid-Atlantic region on August 23, 2011, many people didn’t know how to react. Instead of crouching under a desk or sturdy table, many people evacuated their homes or workplaces, unaware of the potential injury from falling debris. While this earthquake was not strong enough to cause significant damage to the outside of most buildings in Maryland, an even slightly stronger tremor could have caused bricks and other exterior materials to become dangerous projectiles.
To help educate residents about safe earthquake procedures, Maryland and other states participate in the Great SouthEast ShakeOut. Held annually on the third Thursday of October, the ShakeOut is set for thisThursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:16 a.m.
During the self-led drill, participants practice how to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.” Endorsed by emergency officials and first responders, the safe response to an earthquake is to:
- DROP to the ground
- Take COVER under a sturdy table or desk if possible, protecting your head and neck
- HOLD ON until the shaking stops

If a 2nd Ebola Case in Dallas Concerns You, The CDC Solution Will Horrify You
By now, everyone has likely heard that a nurse has contracted Ebola from treating Thomas Duncan. The announcement was made on Sunday. No one seems to know why. She was wearing full protective gear. Our CDC Director, Dr. Tom Frieden, says that he suspects a breach in protocol. Really?
I see that the people in charge are still playing God. It has to be the nurse’s fault or the fault of one of her co-workers. We can’t seem to admit that Ebola is a nasty disease that isn’t so hard to catch and very difficult to stop. There are now over 200 dead health workers worldwide because of Ebola. Do you really think they all violated protocol?
If so, then maybe the “protocol” should come into question.
If you aren’t convinced that the Ebola threat is real and still believing the lies that are being fed to you, then this subject will be of no interest to you. I want to break this down to the naked truth because America needs to know.

MARYLAND STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Maryland State Police Press Release
10/15/2014
10/15/2014
(FEDERALSBURG, MD) – Homicide investigators from the Maryland State Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting, claiming the life of a 25 year old man in Caroline County.
The deceased victim is identified as Timothy Darnell Smith, Jr., 25, of the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Federalsburg. Smith was located by officers from the Federalsburg Police Department at an intersection in downtown Federalsburg, with an apparent gunshot wound in his upper torso. Smith was immediately provided medical treatment at the scene and transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
At 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, the Federalsburg Police Department received a 9-1-1 call, reporting the incident. The caller told police she heard the sound of a gunshot when she exited a nearby residence. At the time of the shooting, Smith was walking along the sidewalk with another adult male and two children. Police believe the adult male is a cousin of Smith.
Within minutes of the 9-1-1 call, officers from the Federalsburg Police Department responded and found Smith in a standing position, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. Within moments, Smith collapsed on the ground where police immediately attempted resuscitation. Smith was transported by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware where he was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation indicates Smith was walking with his cousin and the two children towards a nearby store in downtown Federalsburg around 8:00 p.m. last night. Witnesses informed police that a car was observed in the area the same time the gunshot was heard.
Maryland State Police crime scene technicians continue to process the scene for evidence. A member of the Caroline County State’s Attorney’s Office responded and has been working with the State Police Homicide Unit investigators.
Assistance is also being provided by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division from the Upper Shore region, the Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, troopers from the Easton Barrack, the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services, and the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Investigators continue to interview area residents about what they may have seen or heard. The search continues for suspects who may have been involved in this shooting.

Motorists Asked to Be Aware of Roadside Volunteers this Saturday
Annual statewide litter cleanup day is Oct. 18
Dover -- Motorists are asked to be alert for volunteers working along the state's roadways this Saturday, October 18, as hundreds of citizens do their part to keep Delaware beautiful. The occasion is the annual "Imagine a Litter-Free Delaware Day", hosted by the Delaware Department of Transportation's Adopt A Highway program, when volunteers make an extra effort to clean up litter statewide.
Adopt-A-Highway volunteers will be active between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Participants will be wearing brightly colored safety vests so they can be seen, but motorists should still proceed with caution. Participants will be on both main roads and rural roads, as well as in local neighborhoods and communities.
Most participants in this event are registered Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, but DelDOT encourages other residents to join the effort; especially those who have made similar commitments to keep neighborhood and community streets clean throughout the state. Adopt-A-Highway participants patrol roads for liter several other times each year on dates of their choosing.
Last year, more than 600 people participated in "Imagine Liter-Free Delaware Day", picking up more than 1,000 bags of litter, or about 5,000 cubic feet of trash.
Should inclement weather occur, participants will be out on Sunday, October 19, the designated rain date.

Army Proves You Don't Have To Earn It, You Just Have To Be A Minority
Army officials say they want more minority officers in the service. Among 26 brigades, only one colonel is African American, and the Army has only three African American generals with a four-star rank. USA Today reports the Army plans to recruit officers from major metropolitan areas. Brigadier General Peggy Combs, who leads the Army Cadet Command, said the Army will expand recruiting efforts in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix. The service is also mentoring youth minority officers to put them on the path toward higher ranks in the Army.
State Department Worried About Eavesdropping At New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel
The State Department is concerned about the planned sale of New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel to a Chinese insurance company. The department uses the landmark hotel for diplomatic purposes each year. It maintains a suite on floor 42 as a residence for the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. The president stays there for a few nights during the general assembly. State officials are concerned that a planned renovation of the Waldorf by the Chinese would turn it into one big eavesdropping site. A spokesman for the U.S. Mission to the U.N. said State is reviewing details of the sale. Hilton Worldwide agreed to sell the Waldorf for nearly $2 billion.

Was it a beauty? No.
Was the price right? You bet.
Most of people bought their first used car by scraping together some cash and buying whatever they could afford.
While that's still the case for millions of people, a new study says millions others cannot afford to buy the average used vehicle in their city.

Liberty, Not Government, is Key to Containing Ebola
Limiting government at home and abroad is the best way to protect health and freedom
According to Forbes magazine, at least 5,000 Americans contacted healthcare providers fearful they had contracted Ebola after the media reported that someone with Ebola had entered the United States. All 5,000 cases turned out to be false alarms. In fact, despite all the hype about Ebola generated by the media and government officials, as of this writing there has only been one preliminarily identified case of someone contracting Ebola within the United States.
Ebola is a dangerous disease, but it is very difficult to contract. Ebola spreads via direct contact with the virus. This usually occurs though contact with bodily fluids. While the Ebola virus may remain on dry surfaces for several hours, it can be destroyed by common disinfectants. So common-sense precautions should be able to prevent Ebola from spreading.
It is no coincidence that many of those countries suffering from mass Ebola outbreaks have also suffered from the plagues of dictatorship and war. The devastation wrought by years of war has made it impossible for these countries to develop modern healthcare infrastructure. For example, the 14-year civil war in Liberia left that country with almost no trained doctors. Those who could leave the war-torn country were quick to depart. Sadly, American foreign aid props up dictators and encourages militarism in these countries.

NBC chief medical correspondent blames her team for violating Ebola quarantine agreement despite the fact SHE visited a soup restaurant
NBC chief medical correspondent Nancy Snyderman has dodged blame for violating a voluntary Ebola quarantine agreement by visiting her favorite soup restaurant.
The 62-year-old doctor made an apologetic statement to NBC News on Monday which nevertheless shifted responsibility for the breach on to the whole team.
Dr Snyderman wrote: 'While under voluntary quarantine guidelines, which called for our team to avoid public contact for 21 days, members of our group violated those guidelines and understand that our quarantine is now mandatory until 21 days have passed.
'We remain healthy and our temperatures are normal.
'As a health professional I know that we have no symptoms and pose no risk to the public, but I am deeply sorry for the concerns this episode caused.'
She added: 'We are thrilled that Ashoka (Mukpo) is getting better and our thoughts continue to be with the thousands affected by Ebola whose stories we all went to cover.'

Post Of The Day
Later this morning I will be publishing what I'd expect to be the Post of the Day, Bob Culver's Fundraiser last night.
Stay tuned for multiple and shocking pictures as this was one of the most attended fundraisers I've seen in Wicomico County.
Maybe the Daily Times, the FOP and the BOE might not sway your vote, (according to yesterday's survey question) but I'm confident the images we'll be delivering today will.

US Slips to 12th in Economic Freedom
A new report of "economic freedom" around the world finds the US ranked 12th among 152 countries, tied with the United Kingdom, and lower than neighbor Canada or Australia. The index, published by the Cato Institute and Canada's Fraser Institute, has been published since 1996. As recently as 2000, the US ranked 2nd in the world, in terms of boasting a free economy. The US's declining ranking will lower future economic growth.
The index, built on decades of research by Nobel laureates and dozens of leading scholars, measures 5 broad factors that impact the economy: 1. Size of government; 2. Legal structure and security of property rights; 3. Access to sound money; 4. Freedom to trade internationally and; 5. Regulation of Credit, Labor and Business. Countries where citizens are freer to engage in business and trade and property and legal rights are protected by the rule of law will score higher on the index. According to economic research, though, these countries will also do better economically and create and generate more wealth.
The 10 freest economies in the world are: Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland, Mauritius, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Australia, Jordan, and Chile and Finland tied for 10th.

June 2001 Bioterror Exercise Foreshadowed 9/11 and Anthrax Attacks
On June 22-23, 2001 - some 3 months before 9/11, and 4 months before the Anthrax attacks - the U.S. military held a senior-level war game at Andrews Air Force Base called Dark Winter.
The scenario of this bio-terrorism drill was designed to simulate a smallpox attack in three states. Numerous congressmen, former CIA director James Woolsey, New York Times reporter Judith Miller (who pushed the Iraq WMD myth, as well as the false link between Iraq and the Anthrax attacks), and anti-terror official Jerome Hauer all participated in the exercise.
As a part of this war game, scripted TV news clips were made to help make this drill as realistic as possible.
At the end of one of these clips, the reporter says:
Iraq might have provided the technology behind the attacks to terrorist groups based in Afghanistan.

Valerie Jarrett’s name surfaces in IRS scandal
GOP senator: 'I think this was White House-driven'
(Daily Caller) Republican Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts said Friday that he thinks the IRS targeting scandal was driven by Valerie Jarrett’s office in the White House, according to information that he saw that Democrats tried to “whitewash.”
Roberts told talk radio host Hugh Hewitt that he participated in a Senate Finance Committee investigation into the IRS scandal but “the effort was made by the majority, by the Democrats in the Congress, to simply end that investigation,” which he called a “whitewash.”
