A pharmacy owner in Ohio opened fire on a group of robbers trying to steal from his store Friday, wounding one and scattering the rest.
The incident occurred at Highland Square Pharmacy in Akron at approximately 9 a.m., according to WKYC.
Police Lt. Richard Edwards said three men came into the store wearing dark colored clothing and covering their faces. Two of the perpetrators hopped over the pharmacy counter and yelled “don’t move” while they pulled plastic bags from their pockets. Fearing for his life, the store owner grabbed his 9mm handgun and opened fire on all three criminals, WKYC reports.

Mark Meadows Draws Line in Sand: No DACA Amnesty in Spending Bill
Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, on Tuesday said there should be no Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty deal contained within the government funding bill coming up in January.
The important move by Meadows aims to take government shutdown leverage away from Democrats in the upcoming DACA battles — something that President Donald Trump alluded to on Tuesday morning on Twitter when he bashed Democrats for not being serious about DACA solutions.
Meadows, in an interview with MSNBC host Chuck Todd, said that a DACA deal is in the works and being discussed.
“We have been working closely with the administration and some of my Democrat colleagues, even some Republicans that perhaps are more moderate than I would be, because the president set a deadline in March to deal with the 674,000 people that had deferred action,” Meadows said. “So, we’re going to get a deal. We have been working behind the scenes not only with members but with the White House as well to try to do that. But the president has been very specific on what he wants to see.”

Democrats are doing nothing for DACA - just interested in politics. DACA activists and Hispanics will go hard against Dems, will start “falling in love” with Republicans and their President! We are about RESULTS.

Bannon Praises Trump: POTUS 'Is a Great Man... I Support Him Day In and Day Out'
“The President of the United States is a great man,” said Breitbart News’s Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight.
Bannon’s comments came in response to Justin from California, a caller-in to Breitbart News Tonight noting President Donald Trump’s recent criticisms of Bannon.
Partial transcript below.
JUSTIN: First of all, I think [Donald Trump] made a huge mistake, Steve, bashing you like he did today on Twitter. That was devastating to me. I hope in the future you can forgive him for that when we come to 2020, because I’m sure he’s going to need your help.
BANNON: The President of the United States is a great man. You know I support him day in and day out, whether going through the country giving the Trump Miracle speech or on the show or on the website, so I don’t you have to worry about that. But I appreciate the kind words.
JUSTIN: Yeah, that just made me sick to my stomach, though.
“[Donald Trump] got sucked in by fake news, or trolled,” said Gayle in Alabama, another caller-in toe Breitbart News Tonight, framing the president as being fooled by cultivated drama via the Hollywood Reporter’s Michael Wolff.

The Skeletons In Keith Ellison's Closet
Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee, sparked controversy on Wednesday by tweeting an apparentendorsement of violent left-wing group Antifa.
Ellison’s endorsement of the group, which the Department of Homeland Security says is responsible for “domestic terrorist violence,” is just the latest instance of Ellison publicly attaching himself to radical figures and ideologies.
Ellison once defended famed anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam, against charges of anti-Semitism. In an op-ed for the Washington Post last year, Ellison said he should have more closely scrutinized Farrakhan, who once said Hitler was a “very great man,” but blamed a “right-wing smear campaign” for any questions raised about his ties to anti-Semitic figures.

The Left's 1942
Nineteen forty-two was the critical year of WWII. During that year, four battles were fought that turned the fortunes of war in favor of the Allies. At the beginning of the year, the Allies, reeling from the collapse of France and the ensuing Blitz, the loss of Greece and Crete, Hitler's invasion of Russia, Pearl Harbor, and the string of ensuing defeats across Asia and the Pacific, were facing universal catastrophe. By the end of the year, the tide had turned on virtually all fronts, and the Allied cause was well on its way to victory.
At Midway in early June, the U.S. Navy reversed the previous six months of unbroken Japanese victories by sinking the core of the Japanese carrier fleet. Four Imperial Navy fleet-carriers were sunk in two days and hundreds of seasoned pilots killed. The Japanese Navy was never again to go on the offensive in the Central Pacific.
At Guadalcanal two months later, a Marine landing triggered a seesaw campaign that lasted into 1943, climaxing with the capping of the Japanese Army's advance across the Southwest Pacific and the beginning of the island-hopping campaign that returned the Pacific to Allied control.
In Russia, an idiotic German attempt to take Stalingrad for P.R. reasons began in late August. It was to culminate in February 1943 with the complete destruction of the Wehrmacht's Sixth Army and the beginning of the Russian offensive that was to end only when Soviet tanks reached Berlin.
In October, the Second Battle of El Alamein sent Rommel's Afrika Korps fleeing Egypt in complete disarray, never to return. At the opposite end of the North African littoral, a U.S. invasion code-named "Operation Torch" created a pincer that was to force the Axis out of Africa by the middle of next year.

Justice Department May Have Something Big in the Works: Over 9,000 Sealed Indictments
Since late October, more than 9,000 sealed indictments have been filed in districts across the United States. Sealed indictments are typically used in prosecuting individuals or criminal networks in cases where revealing names could lead individuals to flee or destroy evidence.
As of Dec. 22, 2017, there were 9,294 sealed indictments, according to data collected by researchers and gathered from the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) service of the federal judiciary. This includes 1,224 in the central district of California, which includes Los Angeles; 194 in Washington; and 248 in the southern district of New York.
The number of indictments filed in less than three months is in stark contrast to previous years. According to a 2009 report from the Federal Judicial Center, in all of 2006, there were only 1,077 sealed indictments, and these were about 0.96 percent of all criminal cases that year.
According to Marc Ruskin, a former FBI undercover agent and author of “The Pretender: My Life Undercover for the FBI,” it’s unclear whether the current sealed indictments are connected, but the high number is something he never saw in his 27 years as an agent.

America's Left In The Grip Of Insanity
President Trump is unpopular. He's unpopular because he's boorish, crude and silly; he's unpopular because he has a unique capacity to turn winning news cycles into referenda on his use of Twitter. But the United States under President Trump hasn't seen any serious anti-liberty revanchism. In fact, under Trump, regulations have dropped precipitously; the economy continues its pattern of growth; and press freedoms have actually been strengthened. Despite popular opinion, women aren't on the verge of enslavement into Vice President Mike Pence's "Handmaid's Tale," nor are black Americans in danger of resegregation or political disenfranchisement.
Yet while Iranians protest against a regime that reportedly hangs homosexuals from cranes, members of the hard left in the United States insist that protesters against the Trump administration demonstrate bravery similar to that of Iranians risking death by an Islamist regime. Huffington Post political commentator Alex Mohajer tweeted: "The #IranianProtests, the #Resistance, and @WomensMarch are all the same. Across the world, people are fighting autocracies and oppressive regimes. @realDonaldTrump is NO DIFFERENT than the oppressive Ayatollahs in Iran." Oddly, that movement of solidarity hasn't prompted those who walked in the Women's March on Washington to say a single word in support of the Iranian protesters to this point.

Chaffetz on the Deep State: 'Having Lived Through It, It Is Very Real'
Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” former Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said the deep state was “very real.”
Co-host Steve Doocy said, “Today is going to be a big day because Devin Nunes has subpoenaed a bunch of records from the Department of Justice, We will find out exactly how many of them show up and how many of them are blacked out. John Solomon has some good reporting over at The Hill where they revealed yesterday that there is written evidence that apparently the FBI believed that laws were broken regarding the Hillary Clinton email scandal. And it looks like that the IT guy covered things up when he — even though they were subpoenaing the email records — he went and BleachBit it or whatever he did to it to destroy the hard drive.”
Chaffetz said, “There was hammers, there was BleachBit. When you listen to James Comey back in July of 2016, you really thought that she was actually to get indicted. But this is a closed case. So there no reason why the Department of Justice should hold back any documents from the Congress.”

A Viewer Writes: Want to Talk about Eastern Shore Corruption? How About Eastern Shore Corruption - VA style! Town Clerk's Car Burns Up with Audit Records
A car belonging to Hallwood Town Clerk Angela Hinman Taylor, also known as Angel, caught fire on Oct. 7, and all the town’s records that were being stored inside were destroyed, Mayor Jackie Poulson reported this week. It happened just a couple of days before the documents were to be turned over for a long-overdue audit. Taylor lives about 350 yards from the town office and mostly did the town work at her home. The fire occurred about five miles from Hallwood on Wessells Farm Road. The car’s make and model were not identified at press time. The vehicle was hauled to a local salvage yard, crushed and taken away before the town found out about it, Poulson said. Taylor, 44, resigned from the position in a letter she left for others to find in the town office, and she refuses to return the town’s laptop, the mayor said. He met with state police Tuesday after asking for an investigation, but was given little hope in finding answers. “They wouldn’t retrieve our laptop,” the mayor continued. “That’s a civil matter,” he said the officers told him. Taylor contends the town’s laptop is in the office, Poulson said. “But it wasn’t there — only an old one, (desktop) that is 20 years old,” he complained. The alleged burned records included minutes of town meetings and Taylor’s work schedule.

How the U.S. Can Support Iran’s Anti-Regime Protests
Experts say U.S. should impose sanctions, ensure access to U.S. government-affiliated radio
As Iranian authorities brace for a second week of anti-government protests, the Trump administration is weighing measures to lend support to the demonstrators.
A hardline critic of the Islamic Republic, President Donald Trump has thus far taken the opposite approach of his predecessor, President Barack Obama, who met Iran's 2009 "Green Movement" with reticence in the hopes of striking a deal on the regime's nuclear program.
Trump has given full-fledged rhetorical support to the anti-regime protesters, but questions remain regarding the actions the administration will take to substantiate the president's statements.
The White House has been tight-lipped on whether Trump will reimpose U.S. sanctions on Iran's nuclear program, which would effectively terminate the pact implemented under the Obama administration. Trump threatened in October to pull out of the agreement if Congress and European allies failed to strengthen its provisions before its re-certification deadline in mid-January. Congress has yet to move on the issue.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Tuesday that Trump is "going to keep all of his option on the table" amid the antigovernment demonstrations. She said the president wants to see the Iranian regime grant its citizens "basic human rights" and stop supporting terrorism.
Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior Iran analyst at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, said the administration's messaging approving of the protesters has been "spot on." He acknowledged the risk of the regime using American sentiments of support to undercut the demonstrations as a product of outside meddling, but said the regime will try to smear the protesters as foreign proxies regardless of the facts on the ground.

Trump sounds call for voter ID laws to fix ‘rigged’ system
President Trump called Thursday for new “Voter I.D.” laws, just hours after dissolving his presidential commission on voter fraud.
The president disbanded the controversial panel focused on “election integrity,” blaming a refusal by more than a dozen states to provide what he called “basic information.”
“Many mostly Democrat States refused to hand over data from the 2016 Election to the Commission On Voter Fraud. They fought hard that the Commission not see their records or methods because they know that many people are voting illegally. System is rigged, must go to Voter I.D.,” Trump tweeted.
“As Americans, you need identification, sometimes in a very strong and accurate form, for almost everything you do…except when it comes to the most important thing, VOTING for the people that run your country. Push hard for Voter Identification!” Trump tweeted.

Kassam: Deplorables Don't Have to Choose Between Trump and Bannon
Breitbart London Editor in Chief Raheem Kassam was the first ally of Stephen K. Bannon to speak out after President Trump’s rebuke of the Breitbart News Network executive chairman and former White House strategist, saying “we’re not on different sides, here”.
Asked by British state media presenter Emily Maitliss on BBC politics show Newsnight on Wednesday whether the “base now goes with Bannon or it sticks with Trump”, Kassam denied there would have to be any such schism in the American conservative movement.
“It sticks all together… If you look at what Steve Bannon is doing, if you look at Breitbart News, it is the only news site in the world which truly endorses the MAGA agenda, and it doesn’t need to be ‘either/or’.
“When Donald Trump is himself on the stump, he has the best political instincts of anyone in the past couple of decades, at least, to build that base and get all those people voting and to the rallies… we’re not on different sides here,” the Breitbart editor said.

Report: Intel CEO Sold $24 Million in Stock While Company Was Aware of Massive CPU Bug
A new report states that Intel CEO Brian Krzanich sold $24 million in stocks in November shortly after the company was made aware of a massive vulnerability in the computing giant’s processors.
Business Insider reports that the CEO of Intel, Brian Krzanich, sold $24 million in stocks and options in November after Intel was informed by Google of a security vulnerability in almost all CPU’s, including Intel’s products. The recently revealed vulnerability could give hackers access to user’s passwords, financial data, browsing history and many other records stored on their computer, resulting in panic amongst operating system developers who are quickly working to patch the bug. While the vulnerability was made public recently, tech companies were made aware of the issue months ago. According to an Intel representative, Google informed Intel of the vulnerability in June 2017.

Breaking News: The first known criminal referral has emerged from Congress's Russia inquiries. The target is the author of the Trump-Russia dossier.
More than a year after Republican leaders promised to investigate Russian interference in the presidential election, two influential Republicans on Friday made the first known congressional criminal referral in connection with the meddling — against one of the people who sought to expose it.
Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a senior committee member, told the Justice Department they had reason to believe that a former British spy, Christopher Steele, lied to federal authorities about his contacts with reporters regarding information in the dossier, and they urged the department to investigate.

Update for Wicomico School families and staff: No activites at schools Saturday, Jan. 6
This is Tracy Sahler, Public Information Officer for Wicomico County Public Schools. It's Friday afternoon, and I have an update for our school families and staff.
Thanks to the winter storm, conditions around our schools and in the community remain very challenging. School buildings will continue to be closed on Saturday, January 6th, and any activities that were scheduled at schools Saturday are canceled. Staff members will not need to come in just to make sure a school is ready for an activity that day. Our focus will be on preparing our schools to reopen on Monday if conditions allow.
Please note that we have not yet made a determination for school use on Sunday, when some of our schools are rented by churches. That decision will be made Saturday afternoon and will be communicated to the churches.

Sessions Rescinds Cole Memo, Which Protected State-Legal Cannabis From Feds
LA Cannabis Industry: Sessions ‘More Bark Than Bite’
Update, 4:44 p.m. PST — Daniel Yi, vice president of corporate communications at dispensary chain MedMen, called the announcement “problematic” but said nothing has changed on the ground level. After all, he said, the Sessions memo issued Thursday did not declare a federal crackdown on cannabis but rather dictated that federal marijuana enforcement will be left to the discretion of individual US attorneys in states across the country. In California, Yi expects these prosecutors to be in tune with the overall direction of the state. “To us, at the end of this day, the story here is that this only underscores the fact that we need to end the federal prohibition” he said.
Jason Beck, owner of Alternative Herbal Health Services, in West Hollywood, has operated the shop as a medical dispensary since 2004 and just introduced adult-use sales on Tuesday. While people who are new to the cannabis industry are “freaking out” over Sessions’ decision, he said it’s par for the course for industry veterans like himself. He described the memo as “more rhetoric” and “lip service.” He added: “I’ve been raided three times already by the federal government, so I already know what time it is.”
Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson released a statement indicating the city had no signs of slowing its regulatory rollout. “We will not be bullied by an out-of-town and out-of-touch politician,” he said. “The voters of California and Los Angeles have spoken.”

An Officer's Path To Dissent: "The Truth Is, I Fought For Next To Nothing"
While there, I was a real star. High up in my class at West Point, tough combat deployments in two wars, a slew of glowing evaluations, even a teaching assignment back at the military academy. I inhabited a universe most only dream of: praised, patted and highly respected by everyone in my life system and viewed as a brave American soldier. It’s a safe, sensible spot. For most, that’s enough. Too bad it was all bunk. Absurdity incarnate.
The truth is, I fought for next to nothing, for a country that, in recent conflicts, has made the world a deadlier, more chaotic place. Even back in 2011 - or even 2006, for that matter - I was just smart and just sensitive enough to know that, to feel it viscerally.
Still, the decision to publicly dissent is a tough one. It’s by no means easy. Easy would be to go on playing hero and accepting adulation while staying between the lines. Play it safe, stick to your own, make everyone proud. That’s easy, intellectually immature - the new American way.
When you take the journey of dissent, you lose friends, alienate family, confuse confidants and become a lonely voice in your professional world.I’ve spent years sitting in military classrooms from West Point to Fort Knox to Fort Leavenworth as the odd man, the outlier, the confusing character in the corner. It’s like leaving the church, becoming an atheist, all while still living in the monastery. Still, the truth is that the military is more accommodating than one might suspect. I wrote a critical book, published some skeptical articles, but it’s not as though anyone ever outright threatened me. The pressure is different, more subtle: veiled warnings from superiors, cautious advice from mentors.

Fascism: The American Way of Life
“All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” ~Benito Mussolini
Mussolini was not the originator of hatred of free markets and laissez faire, or of Fascism, a description more suited to Thomas Carlyle, but he was certainly the true father of Fascism. His ideology and opinions are key in any effort to understand real Fascism, the embodiment of the current U.S. political system.
The United States of America, regardless of the misguided belief by the masses that this is the land of the free, is undeniably by strict political definition, a Fascist oligarchy. Yes, there are some aspects of democracy, socialism, communism, and Marxism, but Fascism by the few is the ruling political ideology of today’s America.
This explains the obvious mindset of “American exceptionalism,” and the nonsensical belief America is the epitome of right and good. The root of this arrogant, obnoxious thinking has for generations been by state design. This notion is perpetuated throughout the life of all citizens by state indoctrination and brainwashing, beginning with government controlled schools that claim quasi-ownership of children from infancy to full adulthood. The aim of these institutions is to indoctrinate the masses to produce model citizens in a society that is loyal to community, city, state, and nation, and one opposed to self-interest, self-ownership and individualism.

DOJ deal gives Nunes access to 'all' documents, witnesses sought in Russia probe, letter says
House investigators will get access this week to “all remaining investigative documents” – in unredacted form – that they had sought as part of their Russia inquiry, under a deal between Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., according to a letter obtained by Fox News.
The letter, from Nunes to Rosenstein, summarizes an “agreement” reached on a phone call Wednesday evening and also says key FBI and Justice Department witnesses in the probe will be provided for interviews later this month.
"It is my hope that this agreement will provide the Committee with all outstanding documents and witnesses necessary to complete its investigations," Nunes wrote.

Trump push to scale back welfare programs has RINOs on edge
President eager to downsize welfare state
Emboldened by his victory in the passage of the biggest U.S. tax overhaul in decades, President Donald Trump now wants to rein in social welfare programs even though some Republicans are wary of tackling the volatile issue in a congressional election year.
A White House-led drive to downsize government aid programs such as food stamps and housing subsidies would energize conservative campaign donors whose support Republicans are counting on ahead of the November elections where the party will fight to keep control of Congress.
White House aides say Trump is eager to take on welfare. He has a willing partner in House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, who has long had an interest in the issue.

Reps. Meadows and Jordan: Time to Replace Jeff Sessions
Key conservative Republican Reps. Mark Meadows of North Carolina and Jim Jordan of Ohio said Attorney General Jeff Sessions must go if he can't immediately stop leaks inside the Justice Department.
They made their comments in a column for the Washington Examiner.
Referring to House and Senate investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 elections, the congressmen wrote: "Even with the complete dearth of evidence congressional hearings have produced, the narrative machine continues to mobilize.
"Last week, The New York Times published an article using four current and former anonymous intelligence officials to suggest that George Papadopoulos, a Trump campaign volunteer, was a 'driving factor' who triggered the FBI's spying on the Trump campaign.
"These anonymous sources claim that Papadopoulos, during a night of drinking at a bar in Europe, tipped off Australian diplomats about Russian collusion efforts, which ultimately led to the FBI opening an investigation."
The two lawmakers, both members of the House Freedom Caucus, said it was odd that the FBI has not provided answers to "the critical questions that Congress has repeatedly asked" and instead leaked a "far-fetched and ill-supported story to The New York Times."

Mapping America's Highest And Lowest Rents Of 2017
Politically, culturally, and ecologically, 2017 was a year of anxiety. Hurricanes and flooding ravaged the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Texas. Political controversies dominated headlines and push-notifications. Relations with North Korea reached their lowest point in decades, raising fears of a nuclear standoff.
Economically, though, things remained stable in 2017. The economy continued to recover from the market crash of 2008, withunemployment reaching its lowest point in 17 years. Although homeownership is rebounding from its nadir last decade, renting now far outpaces ownership. According to a new report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University, renting households have been steadily rising since 2004, with 2017 marking the first slight decline in those 13 years. As of the middle of 2017, the JCHS estimates that there are about 43 million renters in the U.S. — more than a third of U.S. householders.
In an effort to give renters (and potential renters) market information in close to real time, ABODO releases monthly reports on rental trends throughout the year. Our Annual Rent Report is a more zoomed-out look at the year in renting. How did rent prices change nationally? At the state level? Where did rent increase the most over 2016, and where did it decline? Where are the 10 most expensive rental markets? Let’s start with a look at what happened nationwide.

Republican Senator Releases Full Unedited Comey Memo Showing Clinton "Grossly Negligent"
For months, speculation has swirled around what exactly former FBI Director James Comey said about Hillary Clinton's private email server (and handling of classified material). While much has been leaked, and admitted to, thanks to Senate Homeland and Government Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), we now have the complete original Comey statement... and the subsequent rounds of deletions and edits that watered down the felonious Clinton actions to an embarrassing wrist-slap.
The Hill was first to report late last year that Comey originally concluded Clinton was “grossly negligent” – the statutory term supporting felony mishandling of classified information – when she and her aides transmitted 110 emails containing classified information through her nonsecure server but that subordinates edited the term to the lesser “extremely careless.”
As The Hill reports, the full draft, with edits, leaves little doubt that Comey originally wrote on May 2, 2016 that there was evidence that Clinton and top aides may have violated both felony and misdemeanor statutes, though he did not believe he could prove intent before a jury.

New York man sentenced to more than 3 years for trafficking cigarettes from Virginia
A Staten Island man involved in the illegal trafficking of more than a half-million packs of cigarettes from Virginia to New York City was sentenced to more than three years in prison Wednesday.
In pleading guilty in September to conspiracy to traffic in contraband cigarettes, Wen Heng Zhao, 43, admitted that from March 2014 to November 2016, he oversaw the purchase of at least 517,050 packs of Virginia-stamped cigarettes that were transported to New York.
Virginia taxes cigarettes at $3 a carton, while the combined state and local tax in New York City is almost $60 a carton, allowing for substantial illegal profit. Authorities complain that the illicit industry draws criminals and their money into Virginia and the destination of the sometimes enormous profit is often not known.

NOON STORM UPDATES FOR FRIDAY, 1/5/18
Salisbury – The Civil Emergency and Snow Emergency which have been in effect since early Thursday morning both remain in effect as of noon today, Friday, January 5th. Given current conditions, plowing operations are expected to make roads passable enough for the City to lift the Emergencies at some point this afternoon, however, that may change if conditions warrant. Citizens will be advised when the Snow Emergency is lifted. Until such time, we ask for patience as our snow plows have begun to make their way into the residential neighborhoods. The high winds associated with this storm severely limited the impact of our plowing operations. Now that the storm has passed, we anticipate that cleanup efforts will begin to move significantly faster.
Current updates as of noon:
• Water main break at the corner of Camden and W. College. Crews are on-scene, and repairs should be finished no later than 6:00 p.m. today.
• Water main at Pearl St. has been repaired.
• Civil Emergency remains in effect, along with the Snow Emergency. Do not drive. You will get stuck.
• Average accumulation in Salisbury was 10”, though there were significant snowdrifts citywide which were much higher.
• The temperature at noon is 16 degrees, with a wind chill of 1 degree. Please bear this in mind if you plan to venture out to plow, shovel, or sled in the snow.
For service calls after normal business hours, please contact the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165. For emergency situations, please dial 911 immediately.

UPDATE: State of Emergency, Level 2 Driving Restriction Remain in Effect in Sussex County
WILMINGTON, Del. – The State of Emergency and Level 2 Driving Restriction remain in effect throughoutSussex County.
Governor Carney also has authorized the Delaware National Guard to assist state and local officials with any necessary response and recovery for this severe winter storm.
Roadways update from DelDOT
The priority for DelDOT is clearing and treating all primary roadways before plowing secondary roads. With the combination of strong winds, drifting snow, and intense cold, getting to all roads is going to take time and DelDOT crews will continue to work to clear roads as quickly as possible. In addition, salt is less effective in melting snow and ice in extremely low temperatures such as those we will experience over the next 72 hours. DelDOT maintenance and operations yards have been fully staffed since 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and for the safety of our employees, there is a required five hour rest period every 24 hours. While Kent and New Castle Counties have seen lesser snow accumulations, high winds and drifting snow are still a hazard and motorists should be cautious of icy conditions due to the below freezing temperatures. DelDOT snow plows remain active in plowing and treating primary and secondary roadways.
The Level 2 Driving Restriction means that no person may operate a motor vehicle on Delaware roadways, except for persons designated as “essential personnel.”
Under Delaware law, the term “essential personnel” means employees or personnel who are necessary (1) to maintain the core functions of government, and (2) to maintain the health and safety of the people of Delaware. The following persons are specifically designated as “essential personnel” under Delaware law:
Operators of snow removal equipment (public and private);
Persons providing public utility services;
Persons providing healthcare services; and
Persons providing food and fuel deliveries.
In addition to the above, employers who fall outside the above categories may apply for a waiver from the Level 2 Driving Restriction from the Delaware Emergency Management Agency. Waivers will be granted when a significant safety, health or business necessity is shown. Waivers must be obtained in advance of emergency incidents. No waiver application will be granted within 21 days after receipt of the application for waiver, and applications will not be processed for approval during an emergency period. Employers already granted a waiver by DEMA may also continue to travel if necessary.

WBOC Just Wants You To Buy These Damn Things
The Liberal Logic is, if they shove it down your throat enough and bombard you with tens of thousands of commercials they figure you'll finally break down and buy these infomercial products.
So why are we getting slammed with so many of these kind of commercials, because WBOC is failing miserably and local businesses can no longer afford to pay for commercials. So WBOC is subjected to pennies on the dollar by selling these infomercials just to collect any revenue they can. They're supposed to be filler commercials but obviously because we're seeing so many of them over and over again, WBOC is going broke.
I mean, REALLY? A hose that's BULLET PROOF? Just how stupid do they think people are.
NFL ratings have never taken a hit like this before
The NFL playoffs can’t come quickly enough for Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The NFL’s regular season ended last weekend with its worst full-season viewership decline ever.
The number of TV viewers tuning into the league’s 108 national telecasts fell 9.7 percent from the previous season.
The decline brought the average TV audience per game to 14.9 million — down from 16.5 million the previous season, according to Nielsen.
That’s the lowest number of viewers per game in nine years — since an average 14.6 million fans tuned in during the 2008 season.
TV viewership of the once-seemingly invincible league is down nearly 17 percent in two years. During the 2015 season, an average of 17.9 million viewers tuned in.
That means Goodell’s NFL, which can still boast the most popular sport in the US, nonetheless lost an average 1.6 million fans per game last season — like having 21 games played in an empty stadium.

Natural Gas in US Soars 60-Fold Amid Icy Squeeze in Northeast
Natural gas surged to 60 times the going rate as howling blizzard conditions stoked demand for the furnace fuel across the U.S. Northeast.
Spot prices for the fuel used to heat homes and generate power reached a record $175 per million British thermal units in New York, according to Consolidated Edison Inc. That’s a far cry from the $2.93 that U.S. gas futures have been averaging on the New York Mercantile Exchange this winter.
Other major trading hubs in New York and New England saw prices exceed $100, according to a person familiar with those markets. Even if the rally cools later Thursday as the storm lambasting New York and Boston moves off to the north, prices in the region probably will close in the triple digits, the person said.

Dr. Marc Siegel: Smoking pot routinely may seem harmless but don’t be fooled (even if it’s legal)
Attorney General Jeff Sessions ended an Obama-era policy Thursday that discouraged federal prosecutions of marijuana use and sales in states where it has been legalized. Sessions is instead leaving it up to U.S. attorneys to decide to what extent they will enforce federal anti-marijuana laws.
As a physician, I am caught between wanting marijuana users and addicts to be treated as patients – and not criminals – while at the same time being very aware that regular marijuana use carries significant health risks. I believe we should treat habitual users and warn them of the associated risks – not punish them.
My job is to let you know that there is no free lunch medically with marijuana or any drug. Even if a state or a society decides that it is wise economically and politically to make marijuana legal, at the same time we must be prepared for the health consequences even more than the legal ones.
For reasons I elaborate on below, it’s clear to me that there is enough scientific evidence out there for me to discourage regular marijuana use for most people.
The new action by Sessions comes on the heels of California becoming the seventh and largest state (plus the District of Columbia) on Monday to legalize recreational marijuana. About 90 businesses received state licenses to begin legal marijuana sales in California at the start of 2018 and sales are booming. In addition, 29 states allow the sale and use of medical marijuana.

MAGA! Black Unemployment Rate Hits All-Time Low
In the month of December, the unemployment rate for black Americans dropped to just 6.8 percent, which is the lowest ever recorded. Prior to this month, the previous record was 7.4 percent in 2000.
The government has been tracking unemployment by race for 45 years, since 1972.
The Hispanic unemployment rate remains at a near record low of just 4.9 percent, up just a bit from the record of 4.7 percent in November of last year.
White unemployment sits at 3.7 percent, while only 2.5 percent of Asians are unemployed.
The overall unemployment rate is just 4.1 percent.
With unemployment so low, job growth should mean wage gains. More jobs than people looking for them puts employees in the driver’s seat.

A popular sugar additive may have fueled the spread of not one but two superbugs
Two bacterial strains that have plagued hospitals around the country may have been at least partly fueled by a sugar additive in our food products, scientists say. Trehalose, a sugar that is added to a wide range of food products, could have allowed certain strains of Clostridium difficile to become far more virulent than they were before, a new study finds.
The results, described in the journal Nature, highlight the unintended consequences of introducing otherwise harmless additives to the food supply.
C. difficile is a nasty bacterium — infection can result in severe diarrhea and death — and numbers among the most prevalent hospital-acquired infections in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly half a million peoplewere sickened by the bug in 2011. Some 29,000 of those patients died within 30 days of being diagnosed with C. difficile, and about 15,000 of those deaths were directly linked to the infection.
The disease wasn’t always such a scourge of the sick and hospitalized, and scientists have long been trying to figure out why certain strains have become so successful in recent years. The misuse and overuse of antibiotics has long been thought to be responsible for the rise of many kinds of antibiotic-resistant “superbugs.”

How To Create A Population Of Dependents With This One Simple Government Trick
One of the great conservative gripes about government interventionism is that it sucks the marrow out of the capacity for self-reliance. If the government tells millions of Americans that licensing is required for hair care, Americans begin thinking that people without government licensure will surely singe them to the bone. Now, Oregon has proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
This week, Oregon’s legislature voted to allow people in small towns to pump their own gas. Yes, in Oregon, laws on the books have forced you to allow an attendant to pump your gas, a bizarre fact I learned when I worked in southern Oregon. But now, liberty has been achieved: retailers in small counties can have self-service gas pumps, and drivers in most of those counties can pump their own gas. A few counties will still be forced to use attendants during daylight hours.

Bubba Clinton lost the nuclear codes and then tried to hide it
Reminding us once again that we dodged a bullet, or maybe a nuke, when we rejected Hillary Clinton for president, news is out that Bill Clinton lost the nuclear codes intended to protect America from a nuclear attack. After that, he then tried to hide it. The story can be read in Business Insider, which fished that detail up from a 2010 book.
Shelton and Cohen feared [that] the saga would reach the press and become an embarrassing story. But word of the missing codes never made it out, and Shelton's recounting of it in his 2010 book was, to his knowledge, the first time it had been shared publicly.
"This is a big deal – a gargantuan deal – and we dodged a silver bullet," Shelton writes, adding: "You do whatever you can and think you have an infallible system, but somehow someone always seems to find a way to screw it up."
This is the spouse of the woman whose mishandling of all the classified information of the State Department was described as "extremely careless" by her political ally, then-FBI director James Comey.

Teen hitman gets life in prison with no possibility of parole
A teenage hitman convicted of gunning down a father of five was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Andrew Lavender, now 19, was just 16 when he fatally shot Ceran Lipscomb, 36, in the back of the head in August 2014. It’s still unknown who paid Lavender to kill Lipscomb.
Prosecutors said Lavender spoke to his mother after his conviction last month about retaliating against those who testified against him, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
“That’s the kind of person he is,” Assistant Prosecutor David Prem said at Lavender’s sentencing hearing. “He is a danger to our community.”

Jail Hillary and Huma, Not Kristian Saucier
Most Americans are not familiar with the name of Kristian Saucier, but they should be. He is the U.S. Navy sailor sentenced to prison for taking pictures inside the nuclear submarine he served in. He was not a spy for a foreign power. He had no intent, to coin a phrase, to do anything with these photos except keep them as personal memories of his proud and honorable service.
A [U.S.] Navy sailor was sentenced on Friday to a year in prison for taking photos of classified areas inside a nuclear attack submarine while it was in port in Connecticut.
Kristian Saucier, of Arlington, Vermont, appeared in federal court in Bridgeport, where a judge also ordered him to serve six months of home confinement with electronic monitoring during a three-year period of supervised release after the prison time. He pleaded guilty in May to unauthorized detention of defense information and had faced five to six years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.

FBI Launches New Investigation Into The Clinton Foundation
Exactly two weeks after we reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions instructed DOJ prosecutors to dig into the FBI's handling of the Uranium One investigation, we learn that the FBI has opened a new investigation of the Clinton Foundation launched by the DOJ - spearheaded by its Little Rock, Arkansas field office, according to John Solomon of The Hill.
The probe will focus on pay-for-play schemes and tax code violations, according to law enforcement officials and a witness who wishes to remain anonymous.
The officials, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said the probe is examining whether the Clintons promised or performed any policy favors in return for largesse to their charitable efforts or whether donors made commitments of donations in hopes of securing government outcomes.

Lab Develops DNA Vaccine That Could Lead to One-Dose Flu Vaccination
Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine have developed a DNA vaccine that could lead to a universal vaccine for the flu in one dose, Digital Trends reported.
Deborah Fuller, a professor in the university's Department of Microbiology, explained the DNA vaccine in a news release, saying, "The current flu vaccine is an inactivated virus. The whole virus is first grown in eggs, then it's inactivated and injected. DNA vaccines are different. Instead of producing the vaccines in eggs, we instead inject a genetic code for proteins from the virus into our own cells.
"Our cells then read the code and produce the viral proteins (also known as) antigens. When our immune system sees the antigens, it makes immune responses that can protect against influenza infection."
"Relatively speaking, DNA vaccination is the new kid on the block with regard to the types of vaccines," Fuller added.

Labor Department Plans Drug Test Regulation for Unemployment Benefits
The Donald Trump administration hopes to unveil a new Labor Department regulation in June requiring drug testing for unemployment benefits.
Republicans used the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to repeal an Obama-era regulation that limited states’ ability to limit drug testing for people who apply for unemployment benefits.
After President Trump signed the CRA repealing the Obama-era regulation, House Ways and Means chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) said:
"President Trump just signed into law my bill that abolishes an Obama-era rule. After five years of battling with the Obama Department of Labor, states like Texas will now be allowed to drug test folks on unemployment to ensure they are job-ready from day one. This is a win for families, workers, job creators, and local economies."
Chairman Brady proposed the bill with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who sponsored the Senate version of the CRA.

Frosh: Sessions decision on marijuana legalization 'inhumane'
Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh called a move by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions Thursday to rescind Obama-era policies that allowed for state-based marijuana legalization without federal interference, "inhumane." Frosh said this decision has the potential to cause fear and disruption in nascent marijuana industries across the country, including those like Maryland's, specifically designed to meet the needs of the very ill.

FIFTH SET
I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL & WAS READING READ SLOWLY!
You know ... Time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.
But, here it is... The 5th set of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?
I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that I was only in the first set and the end of the match was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.
But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change....Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd become.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so...now I enter into this last set of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though I made it to the fifth set, and I'm not sure how long it will last.. I could get lucky and take this match into overtime . . . . but this I know, that when it's over on this earth...it's over. A new adventure will begin!Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done.
It's all in a lifetime.
So, if you're not in the fifth set
yet..let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether you're in the fifth set or not!
You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life....so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!
"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one. LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN! BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY Remember "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.

Keith Ellison Poses With Antifa Handbook
Democratic National Committee Deputy Chair Keith Ellison endorsed Antifa on Wednesday, tweeting a picture of himself smiling with an Antifa handbook.
Ellison posted a picture with “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook” and asserted that the book would “strike fear in the heart” of President Donald Trump.
Antifa is a far-left group that uses violence to achieve progressive political ends, including starting riots and fires at the University of California, Berkeley. While the group claims to be anti-Fascist, they routinely shut down the speech of people they disagree with. Antifa clashed with far-right protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year.
The book, written by Dartmouth professor Mark Bray, argues that “militant anti-fascism is a reasonable, historically informed response to the fascist threat that persisted after 1945 and that has become especially menacing in recent years.”

Exposed: Corrupt Bureau of Land Management Tried to Railroad Cliven Bundy
The third trial of Cliven Bundy has ended in a mistrial. The prosecution failed to turn over documents that would have helped the defense.
Two earlier trials ended in hung juries. On January 8th, a judge will decide if the case will be dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning that it cannot be once again brought to trial.
This all started two years ago when Cliven Bundy asserted his rights to graze his cattle on federal land based on inherited water rights. For two decades he refused to pay fees to the Bureau of Land Management. This culminated in them seizing and killing some of his cattle before BLM and other federal agents were forced into a standoff with armed supporters protecting the ranch.
