Protected Aquatic Wildlife Among Maryland’s Summer Visitors

Marine Mammal, Sea Turtle Strandings Should be Reported

As warm weather settles in and the days grow longer, Maryland’s waters become a destination not for just humans, but also marine animals.

In the past century, 23 different species of marine mammals and sea turtles have been documented in and around state waters. Visitors include bottlenose dolphins, loggerhead turtles, humpback whales, harp seals and manatees.

“While these marine animals are an awesome sight, sometimes they can be disoriented and lost, leading to a marine mammal or sea turtle stranding,” Maryland Department of Natural Resources State Fish and Wildlife Veterinarian Cindy Driscoll said. “It is important that the public understand that some of these animals are protected by law and should be treated with care and compassion.”

Portland GOP Chair Explains Why They're Considering Using a 'Security Force' to Protect Free Speech

It's been quite a week here in Portland. First, there was the tragic murder of two men attempting to protect two girls, one of whom was a Muslim, from a knife-wielding maniac who was screaming insane white supremacist and ethnic slurs. In response, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler pleaded with federal authorities to revoke the permit for a pro-Trump, pro-free speech rally (it's in a federal park, so the city has no jurisdiction to revoke the permit).

Now, in response to this latest episode of the city's failure to protect the First Amendment rights of those with which the city disagrees (see, for instance, the riots that were allowed to rage uncontrolled after Trump was elected, and the threats to the Multnomah County GOP that got an entire parade canceled), the chair of the Multnomah County Republican Party responded in an interview by saying that if Portland would not guarantee security for Republican Party attendees at public events -- events in which they've participated peacefully for years -- they would consider bringing in Oath Keepers and the Three Percenters group to handle security. The liberal world exploded at that musing from the chair, as the media descended to describe these groups as "paramilitary white supremacist anti-government hate groups" (using the Southern Poverty Law Center's definition).

Horseshoe Crab Migration Begins in Maryland

Through the month of June, visitors to Maryland’s beaches can expect an astonishing sight – millions of horseshoe crabs will make their annual pilgrimage from the Atlantic Ocean to our shores.

Dating back at least 350 million years, it’s one of the largest spawning events of horseshoe crabs in the world.

To ensure the horseshoe crab has a chance of survival, Marylanders can do their part in helping protect this valuable species. Anyone who spots a horseshoe crab flipped on its back is asked to gently flip the crab over so it can return to the wild. The best practice for flipping over a horseshoe crab is to pick the crab by its sides, not by its tail. While the horseshoe crab may look menacing, they are actually very gentle creatures and do not bite.

“This ancient species isn’t the most nimble creature, and their short legs don’t do the best job of helping them right themselves,” said Maryland Department of Natural Resources biologist Steve Doctor, who conducts an annual survey of horseshoe crabs.

The species is important to Maryland’s ecosystem. Horseshoe crab eggs are a vital source of food for millions of fauna, including migrating shore birds, blue crabs, white perch and striped bass. Also, adult horseshoe crab blood has been found to be a vital resource in medical products and research.

The largest numbers of horseshoe crabs can likely be found on or around the full moon, which takes place June 9, or the new moon June 23. During this spawning period an individual horseshoe crab could lay nearly 20,000 eggs on Maryland’s beaches and shores.

Illinois Seeks 20 Percent 'Privilege Tax' on Financial Advice

The word "privilege" is starting to cause a visceral reaction in me. Class warfare is alive and well, legalizing theft is an increasingly popular idea, and criminalizing expertise is called "progressive."

The state of Illinois is considering a whopping 20 percent "privilege tax" on financial advice:

The Illinois bill would put a 20% levy on fees earned by investment advisers. It passed the state Senate in a 32-24 vote Tuesday, and backers are hoping to get it through the House before the legislative session ends May 31.

The new tax is pitched as a way to squeeze more revenue -- as much as $1.7 billion a year -- from hedge funds and private-equity firms, which purportedly get off easy on their federal taxes because of the “carried interest loophole.” But under the current version of the bill, Illinois would keep collecting the privilege tax even if Congress were to cease taxing carried interest at the lower capital-gains rate.

Liberal groups are also hoping -- probably in vain -- that a multistate agreement will prevent financial firms from simply decamping to friendlier climes. An earlier version of the Illinois proposal included a provision so that the 20% tax would take effect only if and when New York, New Jersey and Connecticut enacted similar measures. But the bill as written now would impose the tax regardless, and lawmakers will simply have to hope other states follow suit.

Yet who says financiers can’t do their jobs just as well in Palm Beach, Fla. -- or London, Zurich or Hong Kong? The progressives peddling this idea don’t understand that Chicago competes for these businesses not only with New York and Greenwich, Conn., but with anywhere that can offer cellphone service and an internet connection. Finance is international and highly mobile.

Precisely. Thank goodness for the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Maryland state senator federally indicted on wire fraud charges

BALTIMORE —A federal grand jury has indicted a longtime Maryland lawmaker for allegedly accepting illegal payments in exchange for using his official position or influence to benefit an individual on business-related matters, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

State Sen. Nathaniel Thomas Oaks (D-Baltimore City), 70, is charged with wire fraud, honest services wire fraud and violations of the Travel Act in connection to his actions.

The indictment on Wednesday comes a little less than two months after a criminal complaint was filed against Oaks.

Court records showed Oaks was introduced to an FBI source by another cooperating individual. The source portrayed himself as an out-of-town businessperson interested in obtaining contracts in Baltimore through a minority-owned business.

Here's What Federal Regulations Cost Your Family This Year

Anyone who has ever traveled to Washington, D.C.m knows that as majestic as the White House and the U.S. Capitol are, they are a mere fraction of the federal government. Alphabet soup departments like the EPA, IRS, VA, HHS, DOE, and others most Americans have never heard of take up space in the capital and amount to a hidden regulatory tax on all Americans.

In fact, a new report estimated that if the costs of federal regulation flowed down to U.S. households, the average American family would pay $14,809 annually in a hidden regulatory tax. That's $14,809 in addition to income taxes, state taxes, and Social Security. $14,809 in addition to sales taxes, property taxes, and even estate taxes — where the government taxes you for being dead.

"That amounts to 21 percent of the average income of $69,629 and 26.45 percent of the expenditure budget of $55,978," wrote Clyde Wayne Crews, Jr., vice president for policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, in the report "Ten Thousand Commandments" released Wednesday.

Quieter Memorial Day weekend in OC

Although rain and overcasts skies dampened aspects of the Memorial Day weekend, Ocean City officials say the hundreds of thousands of people who came to the beach still kept the resort busy.

“It was a relatively calm weekend. The weather helped with that,” Beach Patrol Captain Butch Arbin said. “The water was warmer and the surf wasn’t rough. But it was still too cold for some people to go in.”

Lifeguards were in the stands for the first time this summer, as close to 100 surf rescue technicians were on the beach during the weekend. Arbin said roughly 43 of them were trainees.

“It usually works out the Memorial Day is perfect for training. There were a couple rescues, but nothing serious happened,” he said.

Reports: U.S. might return Eastern Shore compound to Russians

CENTREVILLE, Md. —U.S. officials said they're holding high-level negotiations with Moscow that could result in returning two Russian compounds, including one on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The 45-acre compound in Centreville is one of two shut down in December by the Obama administration as payback for Moscow's alleged election meddling.

According to reports, the Trump administration is ready to hand the retreats back to Russia.

Residents on the Eastern Shore simply knew the people using the now-closed compound as neighbors.

Conservative Activists Target Maddow Advertisers

Conservative activists decided to turn the tables on liberals and target advertisers of popular MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.

Following a Media Matters campaign that led to an advertiser boycott of Fox News host Sean Hannity, the Media Research Center (MRC) and Media Equalizer countered with a campaign against the liberal Maddow.

Media Matters published the list of Hannity’s advertisers to pressure the host after he raised suspicions about the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich that critics panned as conspiracy theory. Hannity lost over a handful of advertisers after the list was posted.

Media Equalizer returned the favor Tuesday and published the list of Maddow’s advertisers.

Rescued Seal On Mend At Aquarium

OCEAN CITY — A female juvenile grey seal affectionately known now as “Luna Lovegood,” rescued from the beach in Ocean City, was admitted to the National Aquarium’s Animal Care Center last week and is on the mend, although she still has a long way to go.

Last Tuesday, the seal was found stranded and suffering from a case of pneumonia and lacerations which appear to be bite wounds. After a thorough examination at the National Aquarium, the Animal Rescue and Animal Care teams also diagnosed her with a case of lungworms and dehydration.

The rescued seal has been nicknamed Luna Lovegood based on a character from the Harry Potter series. Each year, the National Aquarium’s Marine Animal Rescue Program (MARP) picks a theme for the dozens of marine mammals rescued up and down the east coast and admitted to the facility for treatment and this year’s theme is characters from the popular Harry Potter series. For example, several sea turtles rescued in the fall have been named from the theme including Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Trump: Paris deal was 'massive redistribution of United States wealth'

President Trump said Thursday that he had decided to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate deal because it imposed unfair restrictions on American energy while allowing other signatories to develop theirs.

"We have among the most abundant energy reserves on the planet," Trump said during a speech delivered at the White House. "Yet under this agreement we are effectively putting these reserves under lock and key."

Trump said he was willing to work with Democrats to re-enter the Paris pact or craft "something that's much better than the Paris accord," but only on terms that proved more favorable to the American economy.

"The reality is that withdrawing is in America's economic interest and won't matter much to the climate," Trump said. "We will be environmentally friendly, but we're not going to put our businesses out of work."

Members of area churches and CASA members were among the 100 to 200 activists protesting the Trump administration’s approach to immigration, which they called “inhumane.”

Alma Couverthie, senior director of organization for CASA of Maryland, said the case of Liliana Mendez highlights their concerns.

The Falls Church woman was targeted for deportation after living in the United States for more than a decade illegally. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe got involved in the case, pardoning Mendez for a traffic infraction on her record in hopes of delaying her deportation.

Coaching Overdose Survivors to Avoid the Next One

NEW YORK — Five months into his job at a 24-hour walk-in behavioral health center here on Staten Island, Tarik Arafat has a new assignment. In three weeks, he’ll be on call for a nearby hospital to counsel people who have just been revived from an opioid overdose.

In recovery from drug addiction himself, Arafat, 25, said he understands why someone in a brightly lit emergency room who uses drugs would be more comfortable talking to him than to a medical professional. “My job is to open myself up and be like a toolbox for them,” he said.

Arafat’s mission, and that of other so-called recovery coaches, is not to convince overdose survivors to get into treatment, but to offer them advice on how to get started once they’ve decided they’re ready to quit. If they’re not interested in that moment, he’ll follow up with phone calls to see how they’re doing after they leave the hospital. He’ll also advise them on how to use drugs more safely, if that’s what they choose to do.

Millsboro Man Charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact at Ambulance Station

Millsboro - The Delaware State Police have arrested a Millsboro man following an investigation into an alleged sexual harassment complaint.

The investigation began on Sunday May 28, 2017 when a 25-year-old female victim contacted Troop 7 in Lewes to report a sexual harassment complaint that took place back in the beginning of the month on Tuesday May 2, 2017. The victim advised she was working at Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad, located on Indian Mission Road, along with four other Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) including Jerry A. Johnson, 46 of Millsboro. While the four were in an office, a medical call came in and two of the EMTs left the office, leaving Johnson and the victim alone. At that point, Johnson suggested the female victim lift her shirt up to show him her breasts. The victim refused and Johnson continued to ask several more times, each time refusing his request. Feeling uncomfortable, the female left the office and started to walk down a set of stairs to the Crew Room where Johnson followed her. Once in the Crew Room, Johnson repeatedly asked her to show him her breasts and then grabbed her shirt and pulled it from her waistline, exposing her breasts, and then groped her. The victim gained her composure and pushed Johnson away before walking away.

The victim made two complaints about the incident to the President of the station on May 23rd and May 28th, but received no response.

On Monday May 29, 2017, Jerry Johnson turned himself in to troopers at Troop 7 and was charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact 3rd and Sexual Harassment. He was arraigned at JP3 and released on $600.00 unsecured bond.

Please contact Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad for any information regarding his employment.

Do White Americans Have White Privilege?

O'Malley makes the case for Hogan's reforms

How the courts will react to a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Maryland's redistricting process, we can't say. The Supreme Court did recently strike down some of the congressional district boundaries in North Carolina, but that was on the relatively well-trodden ground of racial discrimination in redistricting. Maryland's case, and a few others percolating around the nation, rests on the argument that it is also unconstitutional to discriminate against members of a particular political party — in this state, Republicans, and in another case that's getting a lot of attention out of Wisconsin, Democrats. Justice Anthony Kennedy, considered a swing vote on the matter, expressed some willingness to consider partisan redistricting claims in a previous opinion, but whether the Maryland case or some other will present a viable standard for determining what is and isn't out of bounds is anybody's guess.

Nonetheless, Democratic lawmakers in Annapolis ought to give a good read to the deposition former Gov. Martin O'Malley made in the lawsuit, which was entered into the court file this week. The fact that he and others used the process to try to squeeze out one more Democratic seat in Maryland's delegation to the House of Representatives is no surprise. It was obvious at the time that the lines were drawn, and Mr. O'Malley has subsequently admitted it (and expressed regret for it). But we would ask the Democrats who have steadfastly blocked Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's efforts to institute non-partisan redistricting in Maryland to read through Mr. O'Malley's explanation of the process and imagine a second-term Mr. Hogan acting in his place the next time Maryland's lines are redrawn after the 2020 census.

Walmart Tests Delivery by Store Employees

Walmart has a new idea for beating the high cost of shipping e-commerce packages – paying store employees to deliver them on their way home.

The program aims at using one of Walmart's biggest assets – more than a million U.S. store employees – to help close its big e-commerce sales gap with Amazon. Walmart has more than 4,700 stores, putting potential delivery nodes within 10 miles of 90% of the U.S. population.

In a test that launched a month ago in two stores in New Jersey and one in Northwest Arkansas, employees can opt in to deliver packages on their way home for extra pay. They use an app that offers opportunities to deliver up to 10 packages per commute.

In a news conference in Bentonville on Thursday, spokesman Ravi Jariwala said the program is entirely voluntary. He declined to specify the pay, but said finding the right compensation is part of the test. And he said the retailer will comply with all applicable state and federal labor laws, such as those covering overtime.

"It just makes sense," said Walmart E-Commerce chief Marc Lore in a blog post. "We already have trucks moving orders from fulfillment centers to to stores for pickup. Those same trucks could be used to bring ship-to-home orders to a store close to their final destination, where a participating employee can sign up to deliver them to the customer's house."

Kessler: Mainstream Media Picking Up Fake News From Russia

The mainstream media, while reporting on the investigation into Russia's possible meddling in the 2016 election, is picking up false information "purposely" planted by the Russians, best-selling author Ronald Kessler claimed Thursday morning.

For example, Kessler, author of the "Secrets of the FBI," pointed out to Fox News' "Fox and Friends" that some language being used in media reports is not the language ever used by the FBI, including the term "person of interest."

"They simply do not do that," Kessler said. "Anybody who knows the FBI knows that that term doesn't exist when it comes to a counterintelligence investigation, and this is an example of the false stories being planted by the Russians because the Russians encrypt their communications."

This means, said Kessler, that whenever such communications are picked up, that "means by definition that the Russians purposefully put them out.."

When The "Fix" Increases Systemic Fragility, Things Fall Apart

All the "fixes" have fatally weakened the real economy, and created a dangerous illusion of "wealth," "growth" and solvency.

The "fix" of the last eight years worked, right? This was the status quo's "fix":

1. Massive expansion of debt: sovereign, household and corporate, all in service of a) bringing consumer demand forward b) fiscal stimulus funded by debt c) corporate stock buybacks to boost stock valuations d) asset bubbles in real estate, bonds, stocks, bat guano futures, etc.

2. Monetary stimulus, i.e. creating and distributing money at the top of the wealth/power pyramid so corporations and the super-wealthy could buy more assets with free money for financiers issued by central banks.

3. Gaming statistics such as unemployment and metrics such as stock indices to generate the illusion of "growth," "stability" and "wealth."

4. Saying all the right things: the "recovery" is creating millions of jobs, inflation is low, virtue-signaling is more important than actual increases in inflation-adjusted wages, etc.

As Dave of the X22 Report and I discuss in Central Banks Weakened The Economy To The Point Of No Return, Day Of Reckoning Has Arrived (42 min. podcast), this "fix" has fatally weakened the real economy. The cost of maintaining the illusions of "growth," "stability," "wealth" and solvency is extremely high, and hidden from view: systemic fragility has increased to the point of brittleness.

What is fragility? Fragility is the result of an erosion of resilience, redundancy, adaptability, accountability, honesty, feedback and willingness to sacrifice today's consumption for tomorrow's productivity and systemic stability.

Subject: Climate expert praises Trump for pulling out of ‘sham’ Paris accord

'Very, very bad deal' is 'deliberately designed to punish the United States'

President Trump officially withdrew the United States from the Paris climate accord, and one of the leading climate experts disputing the purported consensus on climate science is praising Trump for making the right decision for the American economy and for sound science.

“I’m glad that Trump had the fortitude to stick it out despite all the attempts to waylay him,” said Dr. Tim Ball, a retired climatologist at the University of Winnipeg and author of “The Deliberate Corruption of Climate Science.”

“He didn’t have to rely on the false science,” Ball told WND and Radio America. “He relied strictly on the economics of it, that it’s a very, very bad deal for the United States. In fact, it’s deliberately designed to punish the United States.”

Why We Left!

By Thornton Crowe

It's really that simple.

All of this outrage, temper tantrums and fear mongering for not even one point degree difference by year 2100.

>.0016%

Had many of you actually read this Paris Agreement, you would see this is in black and white, no speculation.

Just goes to show the people crying over this are no better than legislators that don't read bills before signing them into law. (Thanks to the commenter on We're Out! for the inspiration!)

"Countries like Germany and France who can't even make their NATO payments are up in arms because the US will not pay for their pollution." states former Newsmax pundit, Dennis Michael Lynch, on his DML Daily program with Harlan Hill, a notorious lifelong Democrat who supported Donald Trump during the election.

Lynch continues, "Germany's emission are up, China up since signing this Paris Agreement."

Ridiculous fodder of the Liberals who would rather bow down to Globalism and take it up the rump than deal with reality.

Incidentally, we've now had three terrorist attacks with well over 150 deaths and almost 1,000 wounded since Manchester and the Media has barely covered it, it at all. Don't you find that a bit more disturbing? Let that sink in.

The Paris Accord is a Bad Deal for the American People

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 1, President Donald Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Accord. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) released the following statement regarding the President’s decision:

“Under the Paris Accord, the United States would pay trillions of dollars in economic costs and lose millions of jobs, while China is permitted to increase its emissions through 2030. President Obama made a bad deal, and President Trump can do better. Any new international climate agreement should be ratified by the U.S. Senate, as outlined in the Constitution.”

Trump Will Not Move Embassy to Jerusalem in Bid to Restart Peace Talks

Trump focusing on fostering peace, does not want to upset Palestinians

President Donald Trump has decided not to immediately move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, according to an announcement by the White House that is sure to rile the administration's pro-Israel supporters, who were counting on Trump to uphold one of his most oft-repeated campaign promises.

The White House announced early Thursday that Trump had signed a presidential waiver to keep the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv for at least another six months. This waiver has been issued by every U.S. president since Congress passed a 1995 law mandating that the embassy be moved to Jerusalem, Israel's contested capital city.

Senior administration officials told the Washington Free Beacon that Trump remains "committed" to ultimately relocating the U.S. embassy, but has decided to hold off in the short term in order to appease the Palestinians—who also claim the ancient city as their own—and try to make progress in Middle East peace talks.

The announcement puts the administration in a tricky position, as Trump promised multiple times while campaigning for the presidency that he would immediately move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem..

Perdue Volunteers Remove 54,000 pounds of Trash from Communities in Nationwide Project Clean Stream Environmental Effort

SALISBURY, MD. (Friday, May 26, 2017) — Perdue associates, their family members and friends across 12states removed 54,000 pounds of trash and debris from streams, woods and roadways and planted more than 50 trees as part of the 10th annual Project Clean Stream, a company-wide effort to help protect and enhance the environment in the communities where associates live and work. Since 2008, 6,855 volunteers have removed in excess of 211 tons of trash from more than 300 sites and planted 4,118 trees.

More than 980 volunteers mobilized clean-ups at 47 local sites on Saturdays in April and May. Their bounty included such items as tires, toys, mattresses, bottles, televisions, bicycles, paper products and much more. Clean-up sites were located in California, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington.

“As part of our company’s values, we strive to be good environmental stewards,” said CEO Randy Day. “We recognize that being a leader in stewardship is not only good for the environment and our company, but it is good for the communities where our associates live and work. We’re proud of our associates’ participation and what it says about our culture and commitment to environmental stewardship.”

In Lewiston, N.C., more than 100 volunteers harvested 5,500 pounds of trash along the roadway near the Perdue plant. “I am so proud to work for a company that creates an environment that encourages us to give back to the community,” said Timothy Mizelle, a Perdue environmental manager. “The participation this year was outstanding from associates and family members to school groups, and we had a great time while making our community a better place to live.”

Martin O'Malley Admits To Gerrymandering In Deposition

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley admitted that he, along with other Maryland Democrats, gerrymandered the state’s 6th district to oust long-time Republican incumbent Rep. Roscoe Bartlett in 2012, the Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday.

A lawsuit filed in 2013 alleged gerrymandering has been moving through Maryland’s courts, forcing Democrats to talk about what the Baltimore Sun says many already suspected: Democratic redistricting was unconstitutional. Following the 2010 census, Democrats expanded Bartlett’s 6th district into the heavily-Democratic Montgomery and Frederick counties.

“That was my hope,” O’Malley told attorneys in his deposition. “It was my intent to create … a district where the people would be more likely to elect a Democrat than a Republican.”

Nearly 4 Percent of Americans Suffer From Food Allergies

Millions of Americans have had to swear off shellfish, eggs, peanuts or soy to avoid allergic reactions that can range from stomach cramps to life-threatening swelling of the airways, new research shows.

Approximately 4 percent of Americans have a food allergy, with women and Asians the most affected, the study found.

"Recent reports suggest that food allergies are on the rise, with more food allergy-related hospitalizations in the U.S. over the last decade," said lead researcher Dr. Li Zhou. She's with the division of general medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

The most common allergy was to shellfish, such as shrimp and lobster, Zhou said.

"In addition, 1 in 6 patients with a food allergy or intolerance had a documented anaphylaxis [life-threatening swelling of the airways]," she noted.

Other common food allergies included fruits or vegetables, dairy and peanuts, the researchers found.

Bilderberg Schemes to Overthrow Trump

Elitists begin effort to reverse America-first revolution and Brexit

Sources close to the elitist Bilderberg Group conference tell Infowars that globalists see their agenda as being in “deep trouble” and that Donald Trump poses a “dangerous” risk to the international order and must be brought to heel or turfed out of office.

Over the years, Infowars has developed sources close to the conference who feed us information ahead of time as to the real agenda behind the confab, not just the vague list of topics released officially by Bilderberg.

Given that this is the first year since both Brexit and Trump came to pass, the effort to derail both is very much the primary focus of discussion amongst globalists in attendance this week.

The reason that three members of the Trump administration – HR McMaster, Wilbur Ross and Chris Liddell have been invited to attend this year’s meeting in Chantilly, Virginia is that Bilderberg thinks there is still a chance to put pressure on Trump to force him to back down on his America-first agenda.

Given the highly unlikely scenario of Trump taking orders from Bilderberg, the only recourse left for the elite will be to turf him out of office.

Another Bilderberger is confident that Trump can be impeached, but only if Democrats regain control of Congress in 2018, in which case his days are “numbered”.

If the impeachment of Trump is in process by the end of 2018, globalists are confident that any effort on behalf of his administration to pull out of the Paris climate agreement and any other globalist treaties will be thwarted.

California Senate votes to limit gifts to doctors from pharma companies

The California Senate has passed a bill banning pharmaceutical companies from giving gifts to doctors. California doctors accepted $1.4 billion in gifts from the industry in 2014, the bill's sponsor says.

The legislation, Senate Bill 790, targets a common practice in the US that critics believe results in doctors ignoring generic drugs in favor of more high-dollar medications that drive up health care costs.

The bill would specifically restrict companies from offering travel, consulting fees and other gifts to medical professionals.

"This bill is all about protecting patients, taxpayers and driving down the costs of prescription drugs," State Sen. Mike McGuire (D), the sponsor of the bill, said in a statement.

"Throughout the state, some of our largest hospitals and medical centers have realized the importance of limiting gifts from the pharma industry to doctors — it’s time the state of California bans these types of gifts and incentives, which will put patients above profits."

Lawsuit forces Maryland Democrats to acknowledge the obvious: Redistricting was motivated by politics

Maryland Democrats drew the state's convoluted congressional districts with an eye toward ousting a longtime Republican incumbent and replacing him with a Democrat, former Gov. Martin O'Malley has acknowledged as part of a high-profile legal challenge to the maps winding its way through federal court.

The acknowledgment that state Democrats were working in 2011 to add a seventh member of their party to the House of Representatives, widely understood at the time but seldom conceded publicly even now, comes as Republican Gov. Larry Hogan is advocating for a nonpartisan redistricting commission, ostensibly to curb partisan gerrymandering.

The lawsuit, filed in 2013 by a former federal employee, is shedding new light on the machinations that took place behind the scenes as Democrats sought to oust Republican Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett from the seat he had held for nearly two decades.

Identity Theft Feeds on Social Security Numbers Run Amok

David Haas doesn't like to give out his Social Security number. He fends off all the requests he can, from doctors, credit card companies, the bureaucracy at large. In the end, it was summer camp that got him.

"If the camp refuses your child because you won't divulge your Social Security number, you end up giving in," said the Franklin Lakes, N.J., financial planner. Haas kind of caved to his daughter's school, too.

Don't be too hard on him. It is the number that rules us all.

Social Security numbers, which identify the retirement accounts Americans build up over a lifetime of paycheck deductions, are taken in the vast majority of data breaches, simply because they are ubiquitous. They're a juicy target.

Together with other basic information, like name and date of birth, the Social Security number is a passport to a person's identity. Unlike a credit card number, which can be instantly canceled, the SSN serves most people for their entire lives, with some 496 million issued since the first batch of cards went out in 1936. Its use as authentication for personal accounts has expanded the opportunity for fraud.

Farage: Time to Ignore 'Sad and Pathetic' Hillary Clinton

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton "looks sad and pathetic" and it's not worth anyone's time getting angry about her, ex-UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said Thursday.

"There is nothing worse in life than a bad loser," the Brexit leader and Fox News contributor told the "Fox and Friends" program.

"Nothing worse than somebody who blames absolutely everybody else for their own failings . . . let's just from now on ignore her."

Farage, who backed President Donald Trump's campaign, also commented that Clinton "represented an out-of-touch, out-of-date establishment" and that she "almost appeared as if it was her right to become the president, and I'm very pleased she didn't."

The "establishment" was not happy with Clinton's loss, he continued, just as Britain's wasn't with the Brexit vote.

"They are still not reconciled to it," Farage said. "They have had their own way for far too long. They haven't recognized that the world has changed."

Portland Mayor Draws Criticism After Asking Feds to Revoke Permit for Pro-Trump Rally

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler drew criticism Tuesday from free speech advocates, the American Civil Liberties Union and local conservative leaders for calling on the federal government to revoke the permit for a pro-Trump free speech rally scheduled for Sunday.

Wheeler also asked federal officials not to issue a permit for an anti-Muslim march planned for June 10.

But his spokesman, Michael Cox, said Tuesday that the mayor isn't commenting on whether he approves of an anti-bigotry, anti-islamophia rally also planned to take place downtown Sunday. Cox conveyed an inconsistent position with regard to that protest, saying, "It's not up to the mayor to sanction or not sanction speech events."
"We are planning for protests and counter protests and to protect everyone," Cox said.

Friday Is National Donut Day!

Here's Where You Can Get Free Donuts Today

Guys, tomorrow, Friday, June 2, is National Donut Day. It’s your patriotic right, nay duty, to load up on some circular fried dough confectioneries before the clock strikes midnight—or whenever Dunkin’ Donuts closes—and all the donuts turn into pumpkins. Here’s a brief list of places (viaThrillist) where you can get donuts for free. A few places are requiring you to jump through some donut holes to get your treat, but it’s a small price to pay for multiple mouthfuls of sugary goodness. Each of these offers lasts the entire day.
Krispy Kreme
What you have to do: Nothing. Just walk in there, jostle other freeloaders out of the way and grab yourself one free donut. Any flavor.
Dunkin’ Donuts
What you have to do: Strut in there and grab one free classic donut of your choice after first purchasing a beverage. And saying please. This deal ends once they run out of donuts.
Tim Hortons
What you have to do: First, buy a hot or iced coffee. Second, make sure you remind them that it’s National Donut Day. Third, chow down on a free classic donut.
LaMar’s Donuts
What you have to do: Make like Charlie Bucket and bring this golden ticket to any store, and they’ll trade you for a free donut. Specifically, “Any donut with a hole.” Which sounds like an unnecessary explanation, but they mostly just mean no speciality donuts.
Honey Dew Donuts
What you have to do: It only works for their Coco Loco Donuts, but if you buy a beverage, you get to try the donut for free.
Cumberland Farms
What you have to do: Buy any hot or iced coffee, Hyperfreeze, or fountain drink and you’ll be rewarded with a free donut. Be warned, however, that the deal only lasts from 5-10 a.m. local time.
Shipley Do-Nuts
What you have to do: Buy anything at all and you get a free glazed donut. This deal also only lasts from 5 a.m to noon local time.
You’re welcome.

LIBERAL Writer Goes WAY OVERBOARD, ATTACKS Barron Trump In NASTY Way!

So an 11 YEAR OLD KID isn’t allowed to be upset about seeing what looks like his own father’s severed bleeding head, but a 16 YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT sees “Trump” written in chalk on the sidewalk and all democrats, liberals and the whole left suddenly need a safe space with a fluffy dog, play doh, a fidget spinner, an abortion, and a sex change?

Stupid liberals.

Normally I am a little more graceful, but this ticks me off.

I am so tired of the left and their hate, now even for children (who once were off limits, it was an unspoken LAW), and have no problem making them the focus of their attacks now. Even to the extent of striking terror into their hearts, then making fun of them when it scares them! This guy deserves a throat punch…

By this guy, I’m talking about scumbag liberal writer, Gregg Easterbrook, who had the demon heart to tweet that 11-year-old Barron Trump is now an open target for his attacks to take down our president.

Really man? This is disgusting, but not all that surprising. We all know that liberals only care about children when it comes time to abort. Of course that’s them caring only about having the right to do so as often as they want.

This guy though didn’t come out of the woods uninvited, it all started with so-called “comedian” Griffin, who we all know was stupid enough to show her true colors as demon spawn, and posted a photo showing herself holding the bloody, severed head of President trump. Because you know…she’s the new poster child for ISIS and all.

Well as expected, Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron who is only 11-years old became terrified when that photo appeared before him on TV. In response to this President Trump made it clear that it was NOT okay to do that to his son.

From Pride To Protest: LGBT Parades Take On A New Tone This Year

LGBT Pride Month around the country is marked by celebratory parades — featuring floats, dancers and celebrities. And they've been especially joyous in recent years, following the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage.

But this year, the tone of Los Angeles's parade has shifted from pride to protest.

"We've converted the parade, floats and fun to a march for civil rights," says Brian Pendleton, who has planned what's now called the Resist March for June 11.

The Resist March is in coordination with protests in more than 50 cities around the world, all taking place under the banner, "Equality March for Unity and Pride."

"You have the science march, the climate march, the women's march, the immigration march," says Anika Simpson, co-organizer of the international effort. "I feel a sense of solidarity across these groups."

Former FCC Commissioner Uses Terror Attacks To Make Worst-Ever Argument Against Net Neutrality

There are many misleading, questionable, and frankly just plain bad arguments against net neutrality out there these days, but a former FCC commissioner may have outdone them all for pure inanity, somehow blaming the push for an open internet for global terrorism.

Ohio: Makers Of OxyContin, Percocet & Other Opioids Helped Fuel Drug Epidemic By Misleading Doctors, Patients

As Americans nationwide deal with the ongoing opioid epidemic, which has alsoresulted in the resurrection of heroin in many parts of the country, the Ohio Attorney General is accusing five major pharmaceutical companies of misleading the public about the safety and benefits of opioid painkillers.

In a lawsuit [PDF] filed in Ross County, OH, Court of Common Pleas, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine accused Purdue Pharma (maker of OxyContin and others); Endo (Percocet); Teva (Fentora); Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (Duragesic); and Allergan (Norco) of operating marketing campaigns that “falsely deny or trivialize the risks of opioids while overstating the benefits of using them for chronic pain.”
