Cockroaches are becoming immune to insecticides - have a great day
Cockroaches have apparently begun to develop a cross-resistance to powerful insecticides.
Scientists from Purdue exposed German cockroaches to different insecticides, and found that the cockroach populations not only developed a resistance to the insecticide they were exposed to, but also picked up resistances to other insecticides.
The super-immune insects can then pass their resistance on to their offspring, making it only a matter of time before a given population becomes, essentially, insecticide-proof.
"This is a previously unrealized challenge in cockroaches," says Michael Scharf of Purdue University, who led the study. "Cockroaches developing resistance to multiple classes of insecticides at once will make controlling these pests almost impossible with chemicals alone."

Abundant Sun, Yet No Energy: Solar Panels Leave People High And Dry
A transition to renewable energy sources is a likely scenario if the anti-fossil establishment manages to persuade lawmakers to implement their green energy policies.
Given the high probability, and the transitions already happening in some countries, it is high-time for us to inspect the functional and operational efficiency of renewable sources, especially the highly acclaimed solar installations.
The Renewable Craze
The so called “craze” about renewable energy is a myth. The top users of fossil fuels are still actively generating power from fossil fuel and are also helping other countries to develop fossil fuel technology.
The major reasons for this are the high cost associated with installation and generating power, and the unreliable nature of the power generated.

Carmageddon Continues: New Vehicle Sales Plunge To "Horribly Mature" 1999 Levels
The auto industry continues to look like a bursting bubble in progress and all around sad state of affairs, despite low rates and the "prosperity" of the stock market hitting new all time highs. Meanwhile, under the surface of those numbers, the actual economy - especially in autos - is telling a different story.
New vehicle deliveries, combining fleet sales and retail sales, were down 1.5% in Q2 to 4.5 million vehicles, according to Wolf Street.
For the first half of the year, vehicle deliveries fell 2.4% to 8.4 million vehicles. This puts the pace for new vehicle sales on track to fall below 17 million for the year, which would be the worst level since 2014. Further, it has lowered estimates for the full year to 16.95 million units delivered, on par with a “horribly mature market" in 1999. In addition to a struggling consumer, these lowered estimates are also result of rising interest rates and competition from off-lease vehicles.
This has resulted, simply, in fewer customers splurging on new cars.

Juan Williams: Joe Biden in 'big trouble' after CNN interview revelation
Fox News's Juan Williams says former Vice President Joe Biden is in "big trouble" after the Democratic presidential frontrunner said he was wasn't ready for Sen. Kamala Harris' attacks during last week's debate.
"He gave the impression he wasn't ready to be challenged. ... If that's true, boy, that's big trouble. He should have known as the frontrunner, there were long knives ready for him," Williams said on "The Five."
In an interview with CNN, Biden told host Chris Cuomo that he "wasn't prepared" for Harris' attack.
“I was prepared for them to come after me, but I wasn’t prepared for the person coming at me the way she came at me. She knew Beau [Biden] and she knows me,” Biden told CNN.

Immigration: When Do We Get To Too Many?
The border crisis continues to be a growing problem with virtually no solution in sight. The two sides of the aisle are too busy fighting each other and President Donald Trump to get anything accomplished. The Dems want open borders while the rest of the U.S. wants to protect our borders and everyone inside them. Now a new bill is set to be introduced by the Democrats that will increase the number of refugees we take in each year to a whopping 100,000.
The “Northern Triangle and Border Stabilization Act” (H.R. 3524) being introduced by Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) is an attempt to increase the number of at-risk immigrant refugees with an emphasis on speeding up the process.
According to the United Nations, 22,900 refugees were resettled in the U.S. in 2018. Let me repeat that: 22,900 refugees last year and the Dems want to increase that to 100,000! To further emphasize the enormity of this, these numbers only relate to refugees as defined by their need to escape their homeland due to imminent fear or threats of harm or death. This number does not take into account the hundreds of thousands of immigrants stampeding our southern border on a daily basis. Nor does this include immigrants and refugees outside of Central America. This astronomical number refers only to those seeking asylum from the Northern Triangle countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

Marines Are Reporting 'Huge, Strange-Looking' Snakes at Camp Lejeune
A year after Marines were told to quit feeding an alligator that lived near their barracks, reports of "huge" snakes at a North Carolina base have prompted officials to reiterate their warnings against pets, scaly or otherwise.
A red-tailed boa, a nonvenomous snake commonly kept as a pet, was spotted in a parking lot at Camp Lejeune last month. The sighting followed another report of a 2-foot-long ball python slithering in the lobby of the barracks in the Wallace Creek.
"Since we have had two fairly recent incidents, we felt it was important to educate base personnel and the public on the issues that can be caused when exotic species are either intentionally or unintentionally released into the natural environment," Emily Gaydos, a wildlife biologist with Camp Lejeune's land and wildlife resources section said.

Texas Patriot Sucker Punched by Motorist Dragging American Flag
An American patriot was brutally attacked on the Fourth of July by a motorist who was dragging the American flag down Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Orange, Texas.
Brandon Scott was sucker punched when he stopped to alert the driver in a Home Depot parking lot. He suffered a broken jaw and is recovering from surgery.
A spokesman for the Orange Police Department tells the Todd Starnes Radio Show that video surveillance shows Mr. Scott being punched by the suspect. The victim’s four-year-old son was inside the car.
The police department confirms a criminal warrant for aggravated assault has been issued for a Houston man. Until the man is officially charged we will not be releasing his name.

Member of Parliament leaves 10-year-old son at UK prime minister's residence in school closure protest
It's no accident that an English woman left her 10-year-old son and some of his school friends on the steps of 10 Downing Street in London, which serves as the home of the United Kingdom's prime minister.
Jess Phillips, who represents that Labour Party as a member of Parliament, explained that leaving her son at No. 10 was an act of protest against some English schools cutting half a day on Fridays in an effort to stay within tightening budget constraints.
"The government has a responsibility to be looking after our children for at least five days a week," she told Sky News and further suggested that Prime Minister Theresa May was at least partially to blame. "It's Theresa May's and the government's responsibility to educate my children and all the children in the country for five days a week, and she has failed."

Trump: 'Biden is a reclamation project'
President Trump took jabs at Democratic front-runner Joe Biden in a tweet hitting at his tenure as vice president.
“Joe Biden is a reclamation project. Some things are just not salvageable. China and other countries that ripped us off for years are begging for him. He deserted our military, our law enforcement and our healthcare. Added more debt than all other Presidents combined. Won’t win!” Trump said in a tweet Saturday morning.
Biden, 76, has pitched himself to voters as a moderate and tethered much of his campaign on his time serving under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017. One of his biggest talking points was his ability to help pass Obamacare. He was a major proponent of the individual mandate, which forced Americans to pay a tax penalty if they spent even part of the year without health insurance.

California Democrats Move To Allow Illegal Aliens To Hold Party Leadership Positions
CNS News reports that Democratic lawmakers in California have introduced a bill to allow illegal aliens and non-citizens eligible for leadership positions within state political parties.
Melanie Arter reports that "current state law limits noncitizen participation in party politics, but the bill, SB 288, would change that, letting noncitizens, including illegal immigrants like Dreamers, serve as state convention delegates and county committee leaders within the Democratic Party, which will allow them to be involved with party platform and other issues."
Supporters say that the proposed legislation is about showing welcoming support for all immigrant groups. “We need to continue to send a very, very loud message that we are … going to embrace and uplift and support all American immigrant neighbors,” said Sen. Scott Weiner (D-San Francisco), who introduced the bill.

New gender option coming to Maryland voter registration forms
Voters in Maryland will soon have a new option to identify as an unspecified gender.
After the legislature passed a new law that will allow residents to list themselves as an unspecified gender with an “X,” instead of the usual “M” or “F,” last week the state Board of Elections agreed to make a similar change on voter registration forms.
The new law for driver’s licenses and state issued identification cards goes into effect on Oct. 1. The Board of Elections needed only a few minutes last week to agree to make a similar change, with one member commenting “because we get so many registrations via the MVA it makes sense that the fields might match.”

The Only True 'Safe Space'
I read something this morning that I'd like to share. As anyone can see, the world we live in is descending into utter chaos and anarchy, and even those who are normally strong and courageous are becoming very apprehensive about what lies ahead.
America has gone through many hard, dangerous times, but none when despotic rulers and jihadists had gained access to weapons of mass destruction and wide-open borders. The signs of the times are all around us, and a fear is arising in almost every heart.
But there is a place of safety.. where we can lay aside all fear and know that all will be well in the end..
From Dr. Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892):
"Whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
--Proverbs 1:33
Divine love is rendered conspicuous when it shines in the midst of judgments. Fair is that lone star which smiles through the rifts of the thunder clouds; bright is the oasis which blooms in the wilderness of sand; so fair and so bright is love in the midst of wrath.
When the Israelites provoked the Most High by their continued idolatry, he punished them by withholding both dew and rain, so that their land was visited by a sore famine; but while he did this, he took care that his own chosen ones should be secure. If all other brooks are dry, yet shall there be one reserved for Elijah; and when that fails, God shall still preserve for him a place of sustenance; nay, not only so, the Lord had not simply one "Elijah," but he had a remnant according to the election of grace, who were hidden by fifties in a cave, and though the whole land was subject to famine, yet these fifties in the cave were fed, and fed from Ahab's table too by His faithful, God-fearing steward, Obadiah.
Let us from this draw the inference, that come what may, God's people are safe. Let convulsions shake the solid earth, let the skies themselves be rent in twain, yet amid the wreck of worlds the believer shall be as secure as in the calmest hour of rest. If God cannot save his people under heaven, he will save them in heaven. If the world becomes too hot to hold them, then heaven shall be the place of their reception and their safety. Be ye then confident, when ye hear of wars, and rumours of wars. Let no agitation distress you, but be quiet from fear of evil. Whatsoever comes upon the earth, you, beneath the broad wings of Jehovah, shall be secure. Stay yourself upon his promise; rest in his faithfulness, and bid defiance to the blackest future, for there is nothing in it direful for you. Your sole concern should be to show forth to the world the blessedness of hearkening to the voice of wisdom.

Feds say Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman owes U.S. $12B
No more planes, personal zoos, or tiny trains for convicted cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman if the feds have their way.
Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn Friday said they are seeking to seize over $12 billion in assets from the onetime leader of the Sinaloa Cartel following his February drug-trafficking conviction.
In total, the government wants to collect $12,666,191,704.00 from the runty drug lord and his empire, according to new court papers filed in Brooklyn federal court.
Multiple witnesses testified during his 11-week trial that the now-62-year-old once lived opulently — enjoying a fleet of planes, gold-plated, jewel-encrusted guns, and even had his own zoo equipped with a little train to ferry him around the enclosures.

American Restoration: 30% of judges will be Trump picks
President Trump, who plans to have named 150 federal judges by the end of this year, is on a pace to fill 30% of the bench, a historic legacy being tied to the conservative movement to restore America.
Legal experts said that over his first term, Trump is expected to name some 250 judges to the Supreme Court, district courts, courts of appeals, and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Overall, there are 870 federal judges.
“By the end of this year, the president will have likely nominated/confirmed almost 150 federal judges, including two Supreme Court justices; he may well appoint another justice to the Supreme Court before the close of his first term, as both Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are now in their 80s. Also, in key circuits where the Left formerly dominated, we have a conservative majority,” said Timothy S. Goeglein, vice president for external and government relations at Focus on the Family.

‘Her eyes were completely black’: Va. family fends off naked woman who claimed to be the devil
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield family spoke with 8News on Friday after fending off a naked intruder who broke into their home on South Twilight Lane the night before. The intruder claimed to be the devil and attacked the family, prompting the homeowner to fire 39 rounds.
The incident was a traumatic experience for the Lewis family’s first night in their brand new home.
“She was in to kill us,” Melissa Lewis said, “that was her almighty, to kill us. She attacked us and I held her down just kept on punching her and punching her as hard as I possibly could.”
The Lewis’ dream home now looks like a war zone, with blood soaked into the carpet, the walls and windows riddled with bullets and shell casings scattered all over.
“I said ‘who are you?” Lewis’ husband, who did not wish to go on camera, explained. “She said ‘I need your help, please help me.’ I said ‘get out of my house,’ and she goes ‘I’m the devil.’”

Trump Signs Law Making It Harder for IRS to Seize Money From Americans
The Internal Revenue Service seized $446,000 from the bank accounts of brothers Jeffrey, Richard, and Mitch Hirsch in 2012, claiming a “structuring” violation against the owners of Bi-County Distributors Inc. for making multiple bank deposits of less than $10,000.
The government never charged them with a crime, nor gave them a hearing to enable them to contest the seizure, but after intense national media attention to the case, the government returned the funds.
The case was among many that highlighted an abuse by IRS agents known as legal source structuring that allowed the tax collection agency to use a law, the Bank Secrecy Act, intended to combat money laundering, to seize assets.

Forget Nike, This Company’s Flag Support Can’t Be Wavered: Betsy Ross Sneakers On Sale, With Proceeds To Benefit Veterans’ Charity
Another company has come out with Betsy Ross flag-era sneakers, in a direct counter to Nike who recalled their flag-themed kicks when former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick said the design was reminiscent of the slave era. While other companies are likely concerned with making a profit off of a massive political statement, there’s a small time company that is 100 percent American owned and operated with a very different mission at hand. PrintedKicks, is a proudly Pro-Trump,Pro-Police, and Pro Military company, so it should come as no shock that they felt pretty opinionated about the Betsy Ross sneakers being removed so close to the 4th of July.
I spoke with PrintedKicks’ CEO and founder at length about the issue since PrintedKicks already sells really cool Trump sneakers (see here) and I wanted to see if they had any comments or plans revolving around the Betsy Ross controversy. He revealed that sneakers were in the works, but unlike other companies mass producing shoes in China for huge profits off of hard-working conservatives, I have been promised that 100 percent (not a single penny less) of the profit that PrintedKicks makes off the sale of these stylish Betsy Ross sneakers, will go to support a charity that helps veterans suffering from PTSD. In summarizing his remarks, the CEO stated that while he realizes there is demand for Betsy Ross Flag-themed Sneakers and that he is proud his company prints and embroiders its products in the USA, he wanted his company to give back to the country that has given us all so much.

“A great crowd of tremendous Patriots this evening, all the way back to the Washington Monument,” he tweeted.
Attendees with tickets were admitted into the area around the Lincoln Memorial and half-way down the reflecting pool around 3 p.m. ET. Heavy rain commenced around 3:30 p.m. ET. The rain lasted for approximately two hours before abating before the celebration began at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Despite the rain — the entire area around the reflecting pool was packed by the time the celebration started.

Joe Biden brushes off AOC 'way left' policy proposals and political prowess
Joe Biden doubts that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's socialist vision is a winning platform for the Democratic Party.
"By the way, I think Ocasio-Cortez is a brilliant, bright woman, but she won a primary," the former vice president said in a CNN interview aired Friday. "In the general election fights, who won? Mainstream Democrats who are very progressive on social issues and very strong on education and healthcare."
Ocasio-Cortez, a 29-year-old freshman congresswoman from New York, unexpectedly defeated 19-year incumbent Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley in the 2018 primary election. Crowley was thought to be a potential heir to now-Speaker Nancy Pelosi as leader of the House Democrats. She did face a Republican opponent in the 2018 general election, but the heavily Democratic district elected Ocasio-Cortez with 78% of the vote, making her the youngest elected member of Congress.

The “Demand Free Speech Freedom Rally” is scheduled for noon Saturday at Freedom Plaza in D.C. Among those expected to attend are the Proud Boys, a far-right group that had violent run-ins with anti-fascist “antifa” in Portland last weekend, during which there were injuries.

How the Trump Administration Is Reining in the EPA’s Union
The Environmental Protection Agency announced a new collective bargaining agreement last week that has outraged the main labor union representing EPA employees.
According to the president of the union—the American Federation of Government Employees—the EPA is “trampling on federal employees’ rights and ignoring the law” with the new agreement.
So what are the draconian provisions that have the union so exercised?
Well, perhaps the biggest change is that EPA employees will have an automatic right to work from home only one day a week instead of two. But the reason the union is up in arms has less to do with working conditions and more to do with losing its own taxpayer-financed perks.
Unlike private-sector unions, which have to charge their members (including some forced members) full price in order to finance themselves, federal employee unions are in large part financed by taxpayers who pay for all sorts of things, such as union office space within government buildings.

Chinese students at American universities caught in crosshairs of trade war
Beijing may have a secret weapon to wield beyond soybeans and semiconductors as tariffs escalate and tensions rise between the United States and China: the large contingent of Chinese students studying in American schools.
The more than 360,000 Chinese students in the 2017-2018 academic year made up one-third of all international enrollments at U.S. universities, and they typically paid full tuition rates to revenue-hungry schools.
As President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping haggle over a new trade arrangement, colleges at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (IUC) have taken the extraordinary step of buying insurance.
“As negotiators on both sides seek leverage on each other, it’s likely that higher education will end up in the crosshairs,” Paul Musgrave, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, wrote recently in Foreign Policy.com.
Mr. Musgrave told The Washington Times that losing Chinese students may not be fatal to universities but could put a severe strain on operations.

Christian speaker pulled from Texas design conference over 'safe space' concerns
The graphic design Circles Conference in Texas announced this week that it’s pulling a church leader from its list of speakers after people complained he might make others feel "unsafe."
David Roark, the communications and resources director for The Village Church, a mega-church based in Flower Mound, Texas, was uninvited from the three-day conference to take place in September after the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) refused to participate because of his inclusion.
The group claimed that The Village Church “does not meet our standards of inclusion because of openly discriminatory policies and practices towards women and the LGBTQ+ community.”
The Circles Conference ultimately agreed with the group and scrubbed Mr. Roark’s profile from their website.

Fact-Check: Expert Debunks Claim Citizenship Question Reduces Census Accuracy
Contrary to left-wing news media claims, restoring the “citizenship question” to the national census will yield more accurate data related to both legal and illegal immigration, explained Hans von Spakovsky, a Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow, in a Wednesday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight.
Democrats such as Reps. Rashida Tlaib (MI) and Ilhan Omar (MN) reject the Trump administration’s move to restore inquiries regarding citizenship on the census. The former derided the idea as a “racial-ized” move that “impacts directly communities of color.” The latter claimed that collection of citizenship data via the census will “increase fear” in “our communities.”
“I don’t think the critics are correct, but in any event, even if they were correct, it wouldn’t matter,” said von Spakovsky. “And the reason it wouldn’t matter is that the American people skip all kinds of questions on the census. There are a lot of people that resent being asked, for example, what race or ethnic group they are part of , and they have a non-response rate on those questions.”

Betsy Ross flag now decried by 2020 Dems, pundits was flown during Obama's 2nd inauguration
While Democrats and media pundits pounce to decry the Betsy Ross flag as racially problematic -- with one even likening the symbol to Nazi swastikas -- the very same flag flew prominently during then-President Barack Obama’s second inauguration ceremony in 2013.
The reminder that the flag was displayed during Obama’s inauguration came amid the controversy from Nike halting the release of shoes bearing the flag, which flew during the Revolutionary War.
The company worried that the flag could “unintentionally offend” people, after controversial football player Colin Kaepernick expressed concern over the design, claiming it recalled the slavery era and has been appropriated by white nationalists. The controversy quickly worked its way into the national political bloodstream, with some Democratic presidential candidates siding with Nike.

6.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Southern California
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California on Friday night, the second in less than two days.
The quake was centered near Ridgecrest, location of the July 4th 6.4 magnitude temblor that was the largest in nearly 20 years.
That quake caused minor damage and injuries around the epicenter.
This quake was much larger.
When Thursday’s quake hit, scientists had warned that it could lead to a larger quake. Ridgecrest had been rattled by numerous aftershocks over the last day, including a 5.4 magnitude temblor on Friday morning.
