Blaze Radio and San Diego talk show host Mike Slater attended last weekend’s Gay Pride event in his home town. And he stunned event-goers with some simple facts they couldn’t believe.
Slater took the opportunity to survey the attendees, asking them questions such as, “What percentage of the male population do you think is gay?” He received a wide variety of answers, the lowest being 28% and the highest, 70%
Using statistics from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Slater surprised virtually every person he encountered telling them the CDC says 1.8% of males are gay.
The radio talker also played a little game with the attendees called, “Which Bigot Said It?”

While The Media Drools
President Obama’s press conference on his Iran “deal” this week is a case study in just how far journalism has fallen as a profession. The big stories to come out of the alleged most power man on the planet speaking for more than an hour had nothing to do with the United States effectively blessing a nuclear Iran. No, the big stories were Bill Cosby and the fact the president finally was asked a direct, difficult question.
The media elite quickly formed a protective circle around the president when CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Major Garrett asked why the fate of four Americans held in Iran was not included as part of a deal in which Iran, by all accounts, demanded and got everything including the kitchen sink. The president became insolent, like a spoiled child hearing the word “no” for the first time, and the Royal Court of Journalists rallied to his aid.
Laments of the disrespectful nature of the question and outrage it was asked in the East Room drown out the fact the president had no good answer, that he had left those people out to dry for the sake of vanity.
And Bill Cosby? The president has agreed to lift the ban on conventional weapons and intercontinental ballistic missile technology to the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism and evil in the world, and one of the few people allowed to ask him about it personally chooses to ask about what an aging sitcom star may or may not have done a generation ago?
If that weren’t bad enough, Obama’s remarks on Cosby were the lead banner story on CNN’s website immediately after the press conference. Putting aside the fact the story was irrelevant to the issue or the nation as a whole, the president’s answer was less impressive than the Iran deal itself. “If you give a woman – or a man, for that matter – without his or her knowledge a drug and then have sex with that person without consent, that’s rape,” he said.

Diner owner defends yelling at toddler to stop crying
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The owner of a Maine diner says she’s not sorry for yelling at a 21-month-old child for crying in her restaurant because it got the girl to be quiet.
Darla Neugebauer, owner of Marcy’s Diner in Portland, is defending her actions after a backlash on social media among people who say they’ll never eat at the restaurant again.
Neugebauer wrote on Facebook that the girl had been crying for more than 40 minutes by the time she slammed her hands on the counter and told the girl to be quiet.
She told WCSH-TV that the parents ordered three full-sized pancakes for the child but ignored her, and she claimed they didn’t feed her after the food arrived.

Supersized flag dominates Dewey skyline July 4
DEWEY BEACH — Dewey celebrated July 4 with fireworks, but it was a 30-foot-by-60-foot American flag flying all day at Northbeach along Rehoboth Bay that stole the show.
The huge flag could be seen across bay and towered over the crowds in Dewey. It was flown to raise money for Sons of Amvets Post 2 of Millsboro.
Lewes resident Alex Dera owns the flag. He said Alex Pires, Highway One president, contacted him a few days before the holiday to see if he wanted to participate.
“We had a great day,” he said.

17 years later, man receives $2,500 fine from Maryland
If you owe the state of Maryland money, chances are you’ll soon find out. The state’s ability to track people down is improving.
“I thought it was unacceptable to put it nicely,” stated Connecticut resident John Carroll.
Way back in the 1990s, Carroll lived in Maryland and would cruise the highways in his 1986 Audi. But he just learned Maryland has no record of that car being insured for a 10-month period starting in 1998. The result, a $2,500 fine.
“I’ve always been covered,” affirmed Carroll.

Perhaps This Is Obama’s Grand Strategy
How long will the public’s suckerdom continue?
Washingtonsblog’s anonymous founder and principal commentator is one of the most deeply knowledgeable writers on current events, and on July 19th he headlined “Governments Worldwide Will Crash the First Week of October … According to 2 Financial Forecasters.” He noted that both Martin Armstrong and Larry Edelson, two of the most respected stock-market predictors, are independently of each other predicting that “virtually all governments worldwide will be hit with a gigantic economic crisis in the first week of October 2015,” due to “a collapse of government solvency” as ricocheting government defaults spiral each other downward; and, because the U.S. won’t be forced to crash as quickly as Europe and Japan, there will then be a temporary worldwide rush into U.S. corporate stocks and bonds, especially stocks, as the short-term safe haven for investors fleeing from sovereign (government) bonds.
The next day, July 20th, Michael Meier’s German Economic News bannered “Clear Signs of Relaxation Between Obama and Putin,” and reported: “The nuclear deal with Iran and the withdrawal of heavy weapons by the rebels in the eastern Ukraine are clear signs of a détente between Russia and the US. The EU now needs to quickly develop their own strategy. Otherwise, the Europeans will have to pay for the chaos in Ukraine.” The article continues, addressing Europeans:
Your countries have to pay an enormous price for the sanctions [against Russia, and, earlier, against Iran]. With regard to a possible new global economic crisis, the loss of the Russian sales market has been devastating. The hope to do business quickly after the nuclear deal with Tehran could prove to be an illusion. Even the lightning-trip by Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel to Tehran will change little. Unlike Russia, the EU towards Iran continued business with Iran during the sanctions, but was stubborn to pay the extra cost of following U.S. requirements. Meanwhile, Russia has caught up technologically and is now sure to be able to step up its exports to Iran and outside of the arms industry [and thus will be less dependent upon imports from Europe after the anti-Russia sanctions are lifted].
The greatest danger, however, threatening the EU financially is in Ukraine: The EU echoed US policy there [though, unlike the U.S., the EU has lost hugely from U.S. Ukrainian policy]: [This U.S. policy was] Ukraine should join the EU and end all connections with Russia. For the U.S., Ukraine is far away, no real trading-partner [though it might become one after the February 2014 change of government in Ukraine. Not so for Europe: Ukraine is now, in effect, inside Europe.]. …

Cruz: Planned Parenthood May be Guilty of Multiple Felonies
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said the leadership of Planned Parenthood should be prosecuted after a video surfaced last week showing one of the group's executives talking about the selling of fetal "tissues," organs and body parts, IJReview reported.
The 2016 GOP presidential candidate made the comments at a speech on Saturday at the Family Leadership Summit in Iowa.
"Every American should watch that video and say, 'Are those my values,'" Cruz said, according to the IJReview.
Planned Parenthood has insisted that the video was doctored and misrepresented the conversation between Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood and two actors that were hired by an anti-abortion group.
But Cruz said that if the accusations of editing by Planned Parenthood proved to be false, the organization is likely guilty of a number of felonies.
"On tape, it appears a Planned Parenthood official is admitting to multiple felonies. The U.S. Department of Justice, if it was not simply a partisan arm of the DNC, should open an investigation and prosecute Planned Parenthood. Congress should hold hearings and we should cut off funds," Cruz said, according to IJReview.

Lawmaker, Airman Proposes Bill To Let National Guard Soldiers Carry Weapons on Base
In the wake of last week's deadly shootings at the Navy installations in Tennessee, a Maryland lawmaker is proposing a bill to let Maryland National Guard soldiers carry weapons for protection while on base.
He's been an airman in the Maryland National Guard for seven years, and Senate Minority Leader J.B. Jennings says many of his fellow National Guard soldiers are worried about their safety, especially after last week's shootings in Chattanooga, where five sailors and Marines died.
It's why Jennings pre-filed a bill for the January Maryland General Assembly session.

Iran Agreement Boosts Peace, Defeats Neocons
Last week's successfully concluded Iran agreement is one of the two most important achievements of an otherwise pretty dismal Obama presidency. Along with the ongoing process of normalizing relations with Cuba, this move shows that diplomacy can produce peaceful, positive changes. It also shows that sometimes taking a principled position means facing down overwhelming opposition from all sides and not backing down. The president should be commended for both of these achievements.
The agreement has reduced the chance of a US attack on Iran, which is a great development. But the interventionists will not give up so easily. Already they are organizing media and lobbying efforts to defeat the agreement in Congress. Will they have enough votes to over-ride a presidential veto of their rejection of the deal? It is unlikely, but at this point if the neocons can force the US out of the deal it may not make much difference. Which of our allies, who are now facing the prospect of mutually-beneficial trade with Iran, will be enthusiastic about going back to the days of a trade embargo? Which will support an attack on an Iran that has proven to be an important trading partner and has also proven reasonable in allowing intrusive inspections of its nuclear energy program?
However, what is most important about this agreement is not that US government officials have conducted talks with Iranian government officials. It is that the elimination of sanctions, which are an act of war, will open up opportunities for trade with Iran. Government-to-government relations are one thing, but real diplomacy is people-to-people: business ventures, tourism, and student exchanges.

Prince George's school board member under criminal investigation in free lunch controversy
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WJLA) - When Lyn Mundey was named by county executive Rushern Baker to fill a vacancy on the Prince George’s County school board in 2013 she was called “an advocate for public education.”
Now ABC 7 News has learned Mundey is the subject of a criminal investigation by the Prince George’s County state’s attorney into whether or not she lied about her income to qualify for free school lunch for her child. A prospect which doesn’t sit well with her constituents.
“To take advantage of the system when there are people out here that really need it is ridiculous it’s sad, said Brenda Payne.
“I mean that’s a criminal act to me to falsify information,” said Lee Krulisch.
According to this email obtained by ABC7 News a federal investigator informed the school system in April that Mundey was among several government accountability office employees “receiving free lunch despite earning salaries much greater than the 133 percent of the poverty rate” which is the threshold for the program. It goes on to say Mundey listed “no income at all in 2011 and 2012.” She currently works as a management analyst at the GAO.

Take a Federal Nickle, Get the Federal Noose
Senate bill 1177 is a bipartisan measure to federalize education, all in the name of preserving local control.
It will be imposed on charter schools and all private schools that accept a nickel of aid.
As I said 30 years ago, “If you take the government’s nickel, you also take its noose.”
S-1177 is about to pass.
Here is a warning:

Here is a warning:
Protecting our children from increasing oppressions and loss of freedoms will require not allowing federal S.1177 to pass.
The name of S.1177, which now sits in the Senate on Capitol Hill, is also: “The Every Child Achieves Act of 2015,” “No Child Left Behind – rewritten,” “Elementary and Secondary Education Act,” and is virtually the same as House Bill HR5, “The Student Success Act” which passed the House yesterday.

Salisbury Angler Sets Winter Flounder Record
Kevin Twilley of Salisbury caught a Maryland state record five-pound, two-ounce winter flounder on June 23.
Twilley set the mark while bottom fishing in 140 feet of water, 26 miles east of Ocean City aboard the charter boat Fish Bound with Captain Kane Bounds.
“I was fishing with a clam when the fish took the bait. It was a soft take, and I didn’t think there was much to it until I got it next to the boat and realized it was a winter flounder,” Twilley said.
Captain Bounds called a friend onshore to check the record, which was a four-pound, seven-ounce fish caught by Jeremy Kuhn in 2006. Back at Bahia Marina, they weighed the fish on a certified scale and called DNR’s coastal fisheries biologist Steve Doctor to confirm the species and the weight.
When asked what he did with the fish, Twilley said, “I baked it and ate it, and it was delicious.”
New Study: GMO Soy Accumulates Cancerous Formaldehyde
Among other shocking issues
As if there weren’t plenty of reasons already to avoid genetically modified soy and other soy products – now a new study has made eating this GM crop even less appetizing.
As I previously reported for Natural Society, GM soy is toxic to the kidneys, liver, and reproductive system – and that’s not good considering that almost 90 percent of the soy grown in the US is genetically modified.
In a study we recently shared with you, researchers in Egypt who studied rats fed a GM soy diet found that:
DNA fragmentation increased significantly after the rats were fed GM soy, and the levels of toxicity increased at 30, 60, and 90 days.
Glyphosate-tolerant enzymes were found in the blood, and as researchers pointed out, “There is a growing concern that introducing foreign genes into food plants may have an unexpected and negative impact on human health.”
The kidney’s bio-pathology increased. Blood creatinine and uric acid concentrations increased significantly in rats fed the GM diet for 30, 60, or 90 days.
Chromosomal aberrations were observed. There was a “highly significant” number of abnormal cells.
Now, a study has just been released by Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai, Ph.D., an MIT-trained systems biologist, which states that in vitro and in vivo lab tests reveal that a diet of GM soy results in:

Governor Hogan: Flags On Government Property To Be Lowered
Larry Hogan
Moments ago, President Obama ordered the flag be flown at half-staff to honor the servicemen who lost their lives during the attack last week in Chattanooga, TN. Following this act, all flags on government property in Maryland are now being lowered in recognition of the sacrifice of these brave men. My continued prayers are with the friends and family of those five soldiers, and with all the men and women throughout our nation who sacrifice so much for our freedom.
Below is a post on Governor Hogans Facebook page from earlier today.
I am angry and saddened by the acts of violence we saw in Tennessee last week, and I know many people would like to see flags in Maryland at halfstaff to honor our fallen heroes. My sincere thanks goes to the governors of the home states of the service members who were murdered - I would do the same in their position without hesitation.
Under the rules for the display of the flag of the United States of America, the governor of a state may issue proclamations to lower the flag to halfstaff in honor of members of the Armed Forces from their jurisdiction (http://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/RL30243.pdf). The victims of last week's shooting were not from Maryland, but we will always honor their service and devotion to our country.

Snow Hill National Night Out
Greetings!
The Snow Hill Police Department and the National Night Out Committee will host its 2015 National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. I am writing requesting you to advertise this national event again this year.
Last year we had over 300 attendees and we’re expecting a greater show of support this year. This event is fun for all and gives criminals a "Going Away" party by showing a stand our community takes against crime.
Therefore, we would love for you to help us get the word out.

Prime Contractor for Maryland Health Exchange Website to Repay State $45 Million
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the prime contractor hired to build Maryland’s flawed health exchange website will pay $45 million to avoid legal action over its performance. Maryland’s health exchange program garnered national attention last year when Maryland had one of the worst sign-up rates for private health care plans in the country.
Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC has agreed to pay $20 million upfront, and an additional $25 million in annual installments of $5 million over five years. The payments represent a recovery of 61 percent of the total paid to the company for the failed website development and launch in 2013.
“The roll-out of Maryland’s Health Exchange was a debacle that could have been avoided,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “I have been one of the most vocal critics of this fiasco, and I am pleased that the process of recouping taxpayer losses has begun. This settlement represents only the first step in the process and we’ll continue to aggressively pursue other avenues to recover damages.”
The agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, will lead to the recovery of funds for both Maryland and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which provided significant funding to develop the exchange.
Given the constraints on Noridian Healthcare Solutions’ finances, it was highly unlikely Maryland would have recouped the settlement amount from the company, even if an equal or higher judgment was obtained following years of litigation. Due to their inability to reimburse the full amount, this agreement represents a fair deal for Maryland taxpayers.
Noridian Healthcare Solutions’ parent company has agreed to guarantee at least $40 million of the settlement payment. The settlement agreement also releases Maryland from all contractual obligations with Noridian Healthcare Solutions.
Investigation of claims against other companies involved in the development and implementation of the Maryland exchange is continuing.
Confederate Flag Sales Up ‘500 Times’
This is what happens when the government tries to ban everything
Stores are reporting that sales of Confederate Rebel flags have shot up, with some claiming that they are selling 500 times more than what they were before the corporate media driven flap over the symbol.
As government and perpetually offended Americans have continued to call for banning anything remotely connected to the flag, retailers have noted that it is having the exact opposite effect, and making it exponentially MORE popular.
“It’s 500 times what it was, without exaggerating,” says Dave Nippert of Lou’s Wholesale. “We could’ve done well marketing nothing but Rebel stuff.”
“People don’t like being told what they can and can’t have,” Nippert added, explaining that he stocked up on Confederate merchandise, knowing full well that an increase in demand would occur.

Black Sheriff: Obama Downplayed Chattanooga Because Victims Didn’t ‘look like Trayvon’
Administration accused of "shrugging" on shooting after it fails to fit racial divide and conquer strategy
President Obama has glossed over the victims of the Chattanooga shooting because the event didn’t fit his racial divide agenda, Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke said yesterday.
In a Tweet sent Sunday afternoon, the sheriff described Obama’s mild reaction to Thursday’s shooting, in which five US service members died, as a mere “shoulder shrug.”
Sheriff Clarke went one step further, adding the administration chose not to grandstand on the incident because it didn’t fit their race war, divide and conquer initiative.
“Obama’s shoulder shrug on these brave soldiers massacred in TN is because none of them look like Trevon Martin.”

Green Beret tells of shooting Taliban in CIA job interview, loses Silver Star for it
A Green Beret who was awarded the Silver Star, then saw it stripped away because he killed a Taliban bombmaker, is telling why he did it, as conveyed in a CIA job interview he conducted nearly four years ago.
Maj. Matt Golsteyn said the insurgent was a known maker of improvised explosive devices and was in the presence of such components. He considered him an armed combatant, so he shot him.
Army Secretary John McHugh, who revoked the award, told The Washington Times through a spokesman that Maj. Golsteyn “assassinated an unarmed Afghan.”
Maj. Golsteyn’s explanation is contained in a CIA transcript obtained by The Times. His description of the battlefield shows how difficult it has been on the ground for Americans in Afghanistan. They are fighting an enemy who continually shifts between appearing as a harmless villager one day and an assassin the next.
The soldier’s words, and Mr. McHugh’s action, are now at the center of congressional talks. A Senate and House conference panel is in the final stages of a debate over the power of service secretaries to do what Mr. McHugh did: revoke valor awards without formal charges being filed.

THESE ARE THE THREE AMERICAN PRISONERS ABANDONED BY THE IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL
Last year, the Senate called on President Obama to “use the tools it has in pursuit of what should be a bipartisan goal: securing the release of American citizens being held as hostages by the regime in Iran.” Today, in the announcement of a nuclear deal with Iran that ignores the plight of these three hostages, the Obama administration has left behind a Christian preacher, a journalist, and a U.S. Marine.
On Tuesday, chief diplomats from the Obama Administration announced that they had struck a deal with Iran on the Islamist regime’s nuclear ambitions and the Western sanctions which have crippled the Iranian economy. Conspicuously absent from that deal, however, is the release of three high-profile Americans the Iranians are holding as political prisoners. Below, their stories, and how their actions threatened the Iranian regime so profoundly as to land them in prison indefinitely.

Seven Uninjured After Boat Fire
OCEAN CITY — A potentially tragic afternoon had a somewhat happy ending on Monday when a rented pontoon boat caught fire in the back bays near Assateague and West Ocean City, but all seven people on board were safely removed by a Good Samaritan.
Around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, in the midst of a sudden severe thunderstorm that soaked the resort area, seven people from New Jersey rented a pontoon boat from Under the Bridge Watersports and headed south in the Sinepuxent Bay for a late afternoon of tubing. The crew on the boat saw the skies darkening and the storm approaching and attempted to turn back.
According to Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP), the crew on the rented pontoon smelled something burning and the engine stopped working in the bay behind Mystic Harbor in West Ocean City. Attempts to restart the engine failed and flames suddenly appeared. Soon, the entire vessel was engulfed in flames.

Toxic Mix: Cash Register Receipts and Hand Sanitizer
Are you one of the millions of Americans who have switched to BPA-free bottles and other containers?
If so, that’s great. You’re reducing your exposure to bisphenol A (BPA), a toxic chemical that’s linked to a multitude of serious and life-threatening conditions.
But you’re probably still being exposed to shockingly high amounts of BPA from a source you may have never suspected: cash register receipts.
The glossy surface of thermal-paper receipts from restaurants, retail stores, self-service fuel pumps, and ATMs is full of BPA, which is an essential part of the thermal printing process.

DNR Secures $6 Million to Improve Boating Access at Sites Statewide
From a new boat ramp in Somerset County to citywide harbor upgrades in Annapolis, 59 public water access projects in 19 Maryland counties will receive a total of $6 million in state Waterway Improvement Fund grants for fiscal year 2016.
This total, the largest amount Maryland has received since 2009, includes $2.2 million for dredging projects in six counties to help keep waterways open for recreation and commerce.
“What we’re hearing from county representatives and boating groups is an increased need for dredging, so that’s what we focused on,” said Mark O’Malley, director of DNR Boating Services. “These projects will expand Maryland’s waterways for both recreational and commercial boaters, as well as improve access facilities so that boaters can better enjoy these waters.”
Passed by the Maryland General Assembly and signed by Governor Hogan, the projects include: dredging local navigation channels; developing and maintaining public boating access facilities; installing marine sewage pumpout stations; providing matching funds required to leverage federal grants related to boating projects; improving parking; and upgrading existing infrastructure such as bulkheads, piers, and boat ramps, as well as electrical and water supply lines.

Why Won’t President Obama Lower Flags For Chattanooga Attack? White House Won’t Say.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest declined to explain why President Obama hasn’t ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in reaction to the attack in Chattanooga that killed five members of the military.
NBC White House reporter Peter Alexander questioned the decision, pointing out that in the past, Obama ordered the flags at half-staff following the shootings at Newtown Elementary High School, the Boston bombing, and the massacre at Ft. Hood.

Black Thug Stabs White US Army Vet to Death–Al Sharpton Mysteriously Silent
On July 11 two white men, one a US Army veteran, were attacked by a large group of black teens in a Walmart parking lot in Rhode Island. Both whites were stabbed with the Army veteran dying of his wounds. Now a black teen has been arrested and charged with the murder. Mysteriously, Al Sharpton and the so-called “black lives matters” crew are nowhere to be seen.
An 18-year-old African American was arrested for the murder and is being charged as an adult for murdering a veteran of the actions in Afghanistan who had a three-year-old daughter.
Erico Montalvo, of 10 Pocasset Ave., wore no expression as he was led handcuffed into District Court early Friday morning to face the charges. The timing, coincidentally, was just before the funeral Mass for 26-year-old Colby Mendonca of Pawtucket.
Mendonca and his friend, Russell Gleason, 25, were in the parking lot behind the Walgreens at 533 Elmwood Ave. just before 2 a.m. when they got into an argument with strangers, according to police. The argument became a fight that left Gleason badly injured and Mendonca dead.
Special Assistant Attorney General Meg McDonough told Magistrate Joseph Ippolito that Montalvo admitted to Providence investigators that he’d been at the scene and had stabbed both men.
Montalvo was charged with murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, both felonies. No plea was entered, and the magistrate ordered Montalvo held without bail, pending a hearing on July 28.

Just-Released Radio Calls Show Cries For Help During Baltimore Riot
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Sounds of chaos. WJZ has pored through hours of just-released radio transmissions that show just how bad conditions were for police as they tried to take control during the riots.
Mike Hellgren has more.
We heard calls of “do not chase” the rioters but no direct stand down orders. What was clear is officers on the streets that day were frustrated over not having the resources and direction they needed and they had trouble protecting themselves, let alone other people and property.
WJZ reviewed hours of newly-released recordings from the April 27th Baltimore riots and they paint a revealing picture of a city slowly turning out of control.
“We’re getting bricks thrown at us,” one officer said.
“He got hit with a brick so we’re going to stand by here. I can’t leave these officers here by themselves,” another said.

Marriage Cheater Site Ashley Madison Hacked, Threatened to Shut Down or Have All Members’ Names Released
The cheater website Ashley Madison promises members that they can cheat on their husbands or wives in total anonymity. But now hackers have obtained the sex site’s data base and is threatening to release the name of every member unless the cheater site is shut down.
This would utterly devastate the whole point for this site if the hackers follow through on this threat. Members expect that they can arrange sexual encounters outside their marriage without their spouses finding out. But it this site’s entire membership is made public it would destroy the whole business, for sure.

Don’t Believe Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton just delivered her first speech on economic policy. In it, she vowed to raise taxes on the wealthy and to regulate Wall Street more effectively to “fix” economic inequality in the U.S. As the Wall Street Journal reported,
“…[O]ver the course of this campaign, I will offer plans to rein in excessive risks on Wall Street and ensure that stock markets work for everyday investors, not just high-frequency traders and those with the best or fastest connections. I will appoint and empower regulators who understand that too big to fail is still too big a problem. We will ensure that no firm is too complex to manage or oversee. And we will also process individuals as well as firms when they commit fraud or other criminal wrongdoing.”
One way to tell if a presidential candidate plans to keep their promises is to research who provides their campaign contributions. Hillary Clinton has a long history in politics that dates back to 1999. Accordingly, there is a treasure trove of campaign finance data that can be unearthed. This important work is carried out by The Center for Responsive Politics.
Hillary Clinton was a senator from New York between January 2001 and January 2009. As the table below shows, she was the third highest recipient of Wall Street money during that time period. First and second place were taken by none other than President Barack Obama and former presidential candidate, Senator John McCain, respectively. Furthermore, three of her top five contributors were none other than investment firms Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Social Justice for Conservatives
Review: Arthur Brooks, ‘The Conservative Heart’
When articles are written about the American Enterprise Institute, space is frequently devoted to cataloguing the eccentricities of its president, Arthur Brooks. Brooks is not a stereotypical, or even typical, conservative. In his 20s, he was a professional French hornist in the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, and politics was far from his mind. He changed tack a few years later, earning an economics degrees by correspondence and entering academia. Now he is president of a Washington institution that is working to recast conservatism in both its practice, and its perception.
Brooks presents a stumbling block for those who imagine conservatives as heavily bearded duck hunters from the heartland. His sense of style is trim, colorful, and European. He trots the globe to derive inspiration from gurus. He brought the Dalai Lama to AEI’s office off K Street, prompting much confusion from left-leaning journalists who suspected the think tank might shortly issue a ransom note.
The media does not know what to make of Brooks, a fact that indicates he is succeeding in his political project. He writes jokingly that he is launching a “sneak attack” on the other side by challenging deeply held misconceptions about which ideology has more to offer the poor.

Dogs in Hot Cars and on Hot Pavement
Every year, dogs suffer and die when their guardians make the mistake of leaving them in a parked car—even for “just a minute”—while they run an errand. Parked cars are deathtraps for dogs: On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.
Animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes. Beating the heat is extra tough for dogs because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads.
If you see a dog left alone in a hot car, take down the car’s color, model, make, and license plate number. Have the owner paged in the nearest buildings, or call local humane authorities or police. Have someone keep an eye on the dog. Don’t leave the scene until the situation has been resolved.
