Maryland congressional candidate Dan Bongino (R) is down roughly 2,000 votes in the race against John Delaney (D) in the 2014 midterm elections, and says he is waiting to concede until the remaining absentee ballots are counted.
“There’s 6,000 outstanding ballots. We’re only down by about 2,000. A lot of them are military. So there’s still a shot, however small it may be,” Bongino said, speaking in his first interview since the ballots were counted on TheBlaze Radio’s Pat and Stu Wednesday.
“Is there a recount in the future do you think, Dan?” co-host Stu Burguiere asked. “Especially if it closes at all?”
Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, said he didn’t want to “spin anybody’s wheels” with boastful talk of certain victory. Officials will begin counting absentee ballots on Thursday, and he said they will see how it shakes out.

The Obamacare Shuffle
Playing politics with health care before the midterms
I received a letter from my health-care exchange last month informing me that I could keep my health plan. In all caps, the letter included the following sentence: “If you are satisfied with your current plan, you do not have to do anything.”
What a relief! This letter indicated that there was at least some competence associated with Obamacare, and I was happy that I wouldn’t have to spend more time searching for a new plan. Lots of other Americans probably received a similar letter and had similarly positive reactions.
I flipped to the last page, and it was a voter-registration application. Why did my exchange include a voter-registration form in the mailing about my health care? That seemed odd.

Ben Stein: 'This President Is the Most Racist President There Has Ever Been in America'
On Fox News Channel’s “America’s Election HQ” on Sunday, hosted by Shannon Bream, actor and commentator took on President Barack Obama and the notion that Republican budget cuts have been used to hurt people of color since they sometimes rely on assistance from the federal government.
Stein downplayed those cuts and explained that using them as a political tool was a means by Obama to racialize the vote.
“The [budget] cuts have been absolutely minuscule, absolutely tiny unbelievably small,” Stein said. “And much more important has been the fact the Republicans by virtue of supporting the policies that stopped the crash in 2008-2009 from being a Great Depression stopped a real economic catastrophe. The Republicans are the ones who save this economy, not the ones that ruin this economy and as I say, whatever little tiny cuts they made here or there in welfare programs -- they were tiny, absolutely tiny.”

Ben Carson officially changes political parties, rejoins GOP
The Senate wasn’t the only political player bracing for a party switch on Tuesday.
Ben Carson, the pediatric neurosurgeon turned conservative sensation after he confronted President Obama at a prayer breakfast last year, used Election Day to officially change his party affiliation from independent back to Republican, moving yet another step closer to a possible 2016 presidential run.
Mr. Carson, who grew up poor in Detroit and rose to success as a doctor at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Maryland, made the paperwork change in his new home state of Florida. He filed the paperwork in Palm Beach County.

More Guns Plus Less War Equals Real Security
Last week's tragic shootings in Canada and Washington state are certain to lead to new calls for gun control. The media-generated fear over "lone wolf terrorists" will enable the gun control lobby to smear Second Amendment supporters as "pro-terrorist." Marketing gun control as an anti-terrorist measure will also enable gun control supporters to ally with those who support any infringement on liberty done in the name of "homeland security."
As with most infringements on liberty, gun control will not only make us less free, it will make us less safe. Respecting the right of the people to keep and bear arms is the original and best homeland security policy. Restricting the right of people to arm themselves leaves them with no effective defense against violent criminals or a tyrannical government.
Every year, thousands of Americans use firearms to stop violent criminals. One notable example occurred in September, when Oklahoman Mark Vaughan used a rifle to stop a knife-wielding co-worker who had already killed one person and wounded another. Unfortunately, most of the media coverage focused on speculation that the assailant was motivated by "radical Islam" rather than on Vaughan's use of a firearm to protect innocent lives.
It is no coincidence that states that pass "concealed carry" laws experience a drop in crime. Since passing concealed carry in Texas in 1995, murder in the state has declined by 52 percent. In comparison, the national murder rate declined by only 33 percent.

Police charge 90-year-old man, 2 pastors with feeding homeless
Fort Lauderdale police charged three men -- including two pastors and a 90-year-old man -- for feeding the homeless in public on Sunday, the first such cases made by the city after the a new ordinance effectively banning public food sharings took effect Friday.
The first to be charged was homeless advocate Arnold Abbott, 90, who has been feeding the homeless in Fort Lauderdale for more than 20 years. Also cited were two Christian ministers -- Dwayne Black, pastor of The Sanctuary Church in Fort Lauderdale, and Mark Sims of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Coral Springs.
All three men face up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
"One of the police officers said, 'Drop that plate right now,' as if I were carrying a weapon," said Abbott, who runs a nonprofit group called Love Thy Neighbor, Inc. "It's man's inhumanity to man is all it is."

Why Did Kenneth Tate Lose His Job?
Kenneth Tate, the dude who was on the elevator with President Obama at the Centers for Disease Control, carrying a gun, got fired from his job with a contractor working for the CDC. And Tate wants to know: Why?
Several things as first reported about the story appear to be wrong, according to the New York Times.
1. Yes, he was carrying a gun. But unlike the first impression conveyed to us, he wasn’t just carrying a gun. He was a security officer carrying the gun issued to him by the CDC.
2. He doesn’t have any felony convictions. In fact, he hasn’t even been convicted of a misdemeanor. He may not quite be a boy scout. He has been “arrested several times, including on charges of robbery and assault, but never convicted,” according to the New York Times. Still, innocent until proven otherwise.
3. It appears he was taking photos not in the elevator – which made him seem like some kind of personal-space-invading lunatic – but outside as Obama left. He claims he stood back when the Secret Service told him too.

How The Clintons’ Candidates Did (Not Well)
Bill and Hillary Clinton were the most sought-after surrogates on the campaign trail this cycle – criss-crossing the country to stump for Democrats in places where President Barack Obama couldn’t.
They flew into red states to stump for vulnerable Democrats, aided candidates from their home states and campaigned for family friends, former aides and other longtime confidants. Their itineraries included several stops in the politically significant states of Iowa and New Hampshire for Democrats in competitive Senate and House races.
But not even the Clinton’s political star power could spare Democrats from Tuesday’s bloodbath. Just 17 candidates backed by either Clinton won, compared to 31 who lost. One race will go into a December runoff, and 9 races had yet to be called as of early Wednesday.

Verizon, AT&T tracking their users with ‘supercookies’
Verizon and AT&T have been quietly tracking the Internet activity of more than 100 million cellular customers with what critics have dubbed “supercookies” — markers so powerful that it’s difficult for even savvy users to escape them.
The technology has allowed the companies to monitor which sites their customers visit, cataloging their tastes and interests. Consumers cannot erase these supercookies or evade them by using browser settings, such as the “private” or “incognito” modes that are popular among users wary of corporate or government surveillance.
Verizon and AT&T say they have taken steps to alert their customers to the tracking and to protect customer privacy as the companies develop programs intended to help advertisers hone their pitches based on individual Internet behavior. But as word has spread about the supercookies in recent days, privacy advocates have reacted with alarm, saying the tracking could expose user Internet behavior to a wide range of outsiders — including intelligence services — and may also violate federal telecommunications and wiretapping laws.

Voters in Three More States Reject Photo Enforcement
Voters in four US jurisdictions had the opportunity to vote on red light or speed cameras yesterday, and voters rejected the cameras. From TheNewspaper.com:
Voters in four jurisdictions were emphatic Tuesday in sending the message to local politicians that they do not want speed cameras or red light cameras in their community. By margins of over 70 percent, residents of Cleveland and Maple Heights, Ohio; Sierra Vista, Arizona (with 26 percent of votes tallied); and St. Charles County, Missouri voted to add themselves to the growing list of cities and counties that have outlawed photo ticketing."After four-and-a-half years we've finally done it," initiative organizer Jason Sonenshein told TheNewspaper. "It's great to have finally accomplished our goal."More
With the vote was 77.5 percent in favor of the ban, Sonenshein expressed surprise at how late in the election campaign that Xerox, the city's private camera vendor, began pouring money into saving the lucrative program. Local radio and television advertisements featured former Senator George Voinovich praising cameras on Xerox's behalf. At the end of the night, it turned out not to matter with late results matching the sentiment of the early returns.
Activists in nearby Maple Heights also spent their time and effort with street-corner protests to bring awareness to the ballot initiative, not having the funding for a slick advertising campaign like the camera industry does.
Forget the ‘Scholar-Athlete’
Last year’s column “Dishonest Educators” (1/9/2013) reported on the largest school cheating scandal in U.S. history. In more than three-quarters of the 56 Atlanta schools investigated, teachers changed student answers on academic achievement tests. Cheating orders came directly from school administrators. The cheating was brazen. One teacher told a colleague, “I had to give your kids, or your students, the answers because they’re dumb as hell.” Atlanta’s not alone. Teacher cheating has been discovered in other cities, such as Philadelphia, Houston, New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles and Washington.
Rampant academic cheating is not confined to primary and secondary schools. Cheating occurs in the nation’s colleges, as discovered during an investigation at the Chapel Hill campus of the University of North Carolina, the state’s flagship university. Over two decades, more than 3,100 students enrolled in and received credit for taking nonexistent phantom classes in the university’s department of African and African-American studies. Nearly 50 percent of the students taking the phantom classes were athletes on the university’s football and basketball teams.
Students officially enrolled in African and African-American studies lecture courses that never met. According to a university-commissioned report, Deborah Crowder, the department’s administrative assistant, required students to turn in a single paper. The papers were often largely plagiarized or padded with fluff. The students were given A’s or B’s after a cursory read. The classes were widely known on campus as “paper classes.” The department’s chairman, Julius Nyang’oro, was the professor of record for many of the fake classes. The university’s academic support program for student-athletes notified both Nyang’oro and Crowder of what grades students needed “to remain academically or athletically eligible.”

When Democrats Lose Elections the Media Push to Annihilate the Constitution
Although I have no idea what will happen tonight, based on the insane, anti-Constitutional, and un-American proposals being floated by the New York Times, Vox.com, and CNN, I do know what the media believe will happen: a historic shellacking is in store for Democrats and President Obama.
How else to explain why the New York Times wants to forever cancel the midterm election. You read that right, cancel them. Outright. According to the Times, midterm elections no longer make sense. The problem is that the midterm electorate "has been whiter, wealthier, older and more educated than during presidential elections."
Mind you, no one is stopping the non-white, non-old, or non-educated (i.e., Democrats) from voting in midterms. There is no law against Democrats voting (except for that pesky citizenship stuff). The only problem, according to our media overlords, is that voting every two years is something conservative-leaning voters are more willing to do than Democrats.
The answer to this hideous crisis, obviously, is to rewrite the Constitution so that voting is more convenient for Democrats -- meaning you only have to make that arduous journey to the polling place once every 4 years instead of 2. The way to do this is easy: Congressional terms become 4 years instead of 2, and Senate terms move from 6 to 4 or 8.
And…
Voila! Democracy is fixed.

Flu-Shot Coverup? CDC Accused of Ignoring Data Showing Vaccine Doesn't Work
News reporter Sharyl Attkisson is making headlines with her memoir Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation, and Harassment in Obama's Washington. She details in her book how officials at CBS quashed her reports on topics that were perceived as anti-Obama, such as her reporting on the terrorist attack on our embassy at Benghazi, the "Fast and Furious" debacle, the green energy company Solyndra that went bankrupt after accepting hundreds of millions of dollars in government money, and the Obamacare disaster.
On Twitter, however, she accused the government of ignoring numerous scientific studies that showed the flu vaccine was ineffective in the elderly.
"One of the most instructive things at the time, for me, was when gov’t researchers told me that even though all the studies showed flu shots didn’t work in the elderly, they figured the STUDIES were wrong because they 'knew' flu shots worked!" she tweeted.
"Kind of reminds me of today’s CDC that looks at all the scientific links between vaccines and autism but 'knows' it can’t be so, so it changes the study data or finds other explanations for why the data says what it says," she wrote.

Carson: Progressive Policies Caused Black Community to ‘Disintegrate’
Dr. Ben Carson, author of “One Vote: Make Your Voice Heard,” argued that Progressive policies have caused the black community to “disintegrate” on Monday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.
Carson said he did not believe President Obama was a “racist” as Ben Stein claimed earlier, but argued that “his ideal of what America should be is really not consistent with the ideals of the Founders of this nation.”
He continued “we’ve had 50, maybe 60 years now of Progressive policies, and what they have done is they have halted the tremendous progress particularly in the black community,” adding that the black community “really began to disintegrate” after Progressive policies were implemented.

Here's Why You May Not Want to Celebrate "Flu Season"
It’s that time of year again.
You can’t even go to stores without being bombarded with signs and displays promoting it.
Everywhere you go, people are talking about it.
After all, it is a very profitable time of year.
‘Tis the season, as they say.
No, I’m not referring to the holiday season – I’m referring to flu shot season.
What are the reasons the flu vaccine is being pushed onto us so forcefully? Is the flu THAT deadly? Does the government truly have our best interests in mind?
As someone with a health sciences background who has been researching vaccinations for over twenty years and has personal experience with vaccine reactions and failures, I have made an informed decision to opt out of getting the flu shot.
Here are my reasons.
Hype, fear-mongering, and propaganda: What’s the underlying agenda?

New Standards Require States to Disclose Cost of Incentives
For the first time, state and local governments may soon be asked to report the full costs of tax subsidies for economic development.
Under new standards recently proposed by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), a private organization whose accounting rules nearly all state and local governments conform to, government entities would be required to include the full cost of tax abatement spending in their Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports.
The umbrella term “tax abatements” would cover any agreement “in which (a) one or more governmental entities promise to forgo revenues from taxes…and (b) the taxpayer promises to take a specific action…that contributes to economic development.”
In a press release issued on Monday, Good Jobs First, a group that promotes corporate and government accountability, expressed cautious optimism that the new standards would shed light on the true costs of corporate tax incentives.

In a press release issued on Monday, Good Jobs First, a group that promotes corporate and government accountability, expressed cautious optimism that the new standards would shed light on the true costs of corporate tax incentives.

Obama sued for changing Obamacare
Case charges president illegally flipped federal law 'upside down'
Major Garrett wrote in National Journal, “The Affordable Care Act means what it says and says what it means. Until it doesn’t.”
And the New York Times compiled a list of more than a dozen significant changes Barack Obama made to the law that was approved by Congress in just over a year, such as changing deadlines that had been set in the law and allowing insurers to reinstate plans that were canceled because of the law.
All of that could be the subject of a federal court hearing in Washington on Wednesday, where a lawsuit is pending that challenges as unlawful the executive orders Obama used to unilaterally change Obamacare, without any approval or endorsement from Congress, which wrote the law.
David Yerushalmi, senior counsel for the American Freedom Law Center, said, “In order to keep his broken promises and clean up the political mess he made, President Obama disregarded his constitutional duty to obey the law of the land and flipped Obamacare upside down without congressional approval.”

How Dem Moneyman Nat Simons Profits from Political Giving
A high-dollar Democratic donor whose foundation spends tens of millions of dollars each year promoting green energy policies also runs a venture capital firm that invests in green energy companies that have benefited from those policies.
Nathaniel Simons may take a 54-foot yachtto work every day, but his bona fides as an environmentalist donor are unimpeachable. Through contributions to Democratic candidates, interest groups, and environmental nonprofits, he helps advance liberal climate and energy policy.
Simons is a hedge fund manager, but he also provides venture capital for early-stage green energy companies through Elan Management and an offshoot VC firm, Prelude Ventures.
As Simons’ firm has invested in cleantech firms, he has promoted increased federal involvement in the energy sector. Policies advanced by Simons and the Sea Change Foundation, which he runs with his wife Laura, would benefit green energy companies such as those backed by Prelude.
The firm’s website lists 12 companies in its portfolio. Seven of them have received federal grants, loans, contracts, or other government assistance since 2009, when Prelude was founded.
Prelude-backed solar cell manufacturing firm Suniva was awarded a $141 million stimulus-funded Department of Energy loan guarantee in 2010.
The company passed on the award, saying it was “uncomfortable” with its terms. But it has since received additional federal support: a $5 million DOE grant last year, a $2 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Export-Import Bank, and more than $750,000 in Justice Department contracts to build solar panels for federal prisons.

Veterans Day Ceremony to be held at the Wicomico County War Memorial
(Salisbury, MD) The Wicomico War Memorial Committee invites the community to join them in honoring our military veterans at a ceremony on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Wicomico County War Memorial located directly in front of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury, MD. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the Youth & Civic Center.
The ceremony includes patriotic music, prayer and remembrance to honor all veterans. Veterans Day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military, in wartime or peacetime.
Veteran’s Day, initially termed Armistice Day, was created to honor World War I veterans and celebrate the official ending of the First World War which occurred at 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918. In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, legislation was approved by the 83rd US Congress to change the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day – thereby making November 11 a day in which all American veterans of wars could be honored.

Extending Your Dog's Life? Scientists Think Its Possible
Researchers at the University of Washington want to find out if it's possible to extend the lifespan of a dog.
They believe a drug used by transplant patients could also have an impact on the health and longevity of man's best friend.
Matthew Kaeberline and Daniel Promislow received an unrestricted $200,000 grant from the UW to study Rapamycin's potential effects on the longevity of dogs.

Bubble Exit Rule: "You Only Get Out If You Panic Before Everyone Else Does"
The stock market reached all-time highs last week based upon the machinations of central bankers and the perceptions of speculators that these bankers will always have their back. Yellen, Kuroda, and Draghi are growing increasingly desperate as everything they have done in the last five years has failed to revive their moribund economies. The average person in the U.S., Japan and Europe is far worse off today than they were in 2009 at the height of the worldwide recession. The .1% have vastly increased their riches through the ZIRP and QE policies of central bankers. The rise in stock markets is nothing but a confidence game built upon the false belief that there will always be a greater fool to buy overvalued assets acquired by borrowing from the central bankers at 0%. John Hussman understands the nature of markets:
We’re mindful that the financial markets move not based on what is true, but by what is perceived.
At present, the entire global financial system has been turned into a massive speculative carry trade. A carry trade involves buying some risky asset – regardless of price or valuation – so long as the current yield on that asset exceeds the short-term risk-free interest rate. Valuations don’t matter to carry-trade speculators, because the central feature of those trades is the expectation that the securities can be sold to some greater fool when the “spread” (the difference between the yield on the speculative asset and the risk-free interest rate) narrows.

HERE’S Why Ebola Is No Longer In the News
Forbes’ David Kroll – an adjunct professor at Duke University Medical Center - notes:
The Associated Press and other press outlets have agreed not to report on suspected cases of Ebola in the United States until a positive viral RNA test is completed.
In other words, the mainstream media has agreed not to report on any suspected Ebola cases.
I guess the Ebola czar has been a busy boy, after all... you know, preventing panic and all that.

Witnesses Recount Night’s Events Leading Up To Reported Homicide
OCEAN CITY — Witness statements in the manslaughter case against two men appear to raise more questions this week on what specifically caused the death of a Pennsylvania man in Ocean City.
Around 3 a.m. on Aug. 24, Ocean City Police and Emergency Services responded to 2nd Street for a reported assault that had already occurred. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, later identified as Justin D. Cancelliere, 37, of North Whitehall, Pa., unconscious and unresponsive. He later died. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the nature of Cancelliere’s injuries as head and neck trauma and the cause of death a homicide.
After an investigation, OCPD detectives determined the assault occurred during an altercation in the area of Talbot Street and Baltimore Ave. Two suspects, identified as Caleb Edwin-Earl Ochse, 27, of Ocean City, and Christopher Blake Kendall, 22, of Ocean City, have been charged with manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, affray, disorderly conduct and alcoholic beverage-did endanger for their alleged roles in the confrontation.

The 'NIMBY' Cities Who Ban The Feeding of the Homeless
With the weather becoming more chilly and the season of goodwill rapidly approaching you would think that the homeless would be a high priority in the minds of the authorities. Well the good news is…they are. The bad news is the only aim the authorities have is to drive them out of town.
Police in Fort Lauderdale, Florida removed at least three people who were serving warm food to the homeless on Sunday.
In video footage from Sunday, three police officers arrive and interrupt the feeding program by removing 90-year-old Arnold Abbott, the Rev. Canon Mark Sims of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Dwayne Black of the Sanctuary Church. A chorus of protest erupts from the crowd and follows the officers as they take the men to their patrol cards – “Shame on you, arresting an elderly man!” someone in the crowd says. “The whole world is watching!” says another.
Then, a police officer explains to the men: “Basically you are going to be cited for serving to the community without proper accommodations. Everything is explained in here. This is a citation. If you guys continue to come out here you will face arrest.” (My emphasis)

Quadrofoil 'flies' above water at up to 25mph without making a noise
A super-slick, catamaran-like craft is being touted as the 21st century answer to the speedboat.
The Quadrofoil uses C-shaped hydrofoils to lift the craft out of the water, allowing it to reach a top speed of 25mph (40kph).
The shape of the four foils creates lift, to haul the vessel above the surface of the water and travel with minimal water resistance and in turn very little noise.

Sheriffs: Exec. Amnesty Will Unleash Illegal 'Tidal Wave'
Law enforcement officials have a message for the American people: If the president issues an executive amnesty, be prepared for a new wave of illegal immigration at the nation's southern border and beyond.
Breitbart talked to sheriffs about the issue.
"The law applies to you and I as citizens, and yet it appears there is no law when it comes to illegals," Pinal County, Arizona, Sheriff Paul Babeu said. "The message the president's action will send is this: If you can get to the border, you're home free. It completely undermines the rule of law and makes the job of every law enforcement officer — which is already difficult — impossible.
"We already have our hands full because the border is not secure. Imagine what the situation will look like when the president gives executive amnesty to those already here. It would unleash a tidal wave of illegal border crossings, overwhelming law enforcement. It will be open season for the cartels."
There is talk that President Barack Obama will push through an executive amnesty order after the midterm elections that would grant amnesty to at least some of the estimated 11 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States.

Halloween Hit-and-Run Suspect Has DUI Record
(NEWSER) – The man accused of killing three 13-year-old girls in a Halloween hit-and-run should never have been behind the wheel. Court records show that Jaquinn Bell, who had his two teenage children in the car at the time of the incident, was driving on a suspended license and has violated probation at least seven times since 2009, when he was arrested for domestic abuse, driving under the influence, and driving on a suspended license, the Los Angeles Times reports. He was convicted of hit-and-run driving, driving under the influence, and child endangerment on Aug. 4 and had his license suspended. DMV records show that it was suspended again for excessive alcohol on Oct. 4, KABC reports.
After Bell's August conviction, he was ordered to enroll in treatment programs for alcohol abuse and child abuse. Police initially arrested several people over the Santa Ana deaths but have now released everyone except Bell. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the 31-year-old was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. A police spokesman tells KTLA that a Honda SUV found abandoned after the incident had significant damage and "there's no doubt in my mind that anybody who was driving in a vehicle that impacted three individuals ... probably knew they hit something."

Punkin Chunkin President Calls It Quits
For the first time in its nearly 30-year history, Punkin Chunkin machines are silent this fall. |
In an email this past weekend, John Huber said: “I am resigning this year. Not for the bullies in this organization because they don't scare me or add any value to you; they are shameful. I am resigning because I just don't need it. I held this position for the best of the chunk always.”
Huber's resignation comes a month after the organization postponed the 2014 event for the first time in its nearly 30-year history. Citing logistic and time restraints, the organization pulled the plug on the chunk, scheduled for Dover International Speedway the last week in October.
While the move to Dover from its home in Sussex County was announced in early summer, organizers had been threatening to move out of county for months in part because of a lawsuit involving a volunteer spotter who seriously injured in an ATV crash during the 2011 chunk that still hangs over the association. Because of the lawsuit and concerns over liability and the cost of insurance, the association left its seven-year location at the Wheatley farm near Bridgeville after the 2013 event.

Weather Channel Founder: Man-Made Global Warming is ‘Baloney’
"Science isn’t a vote, science is about facts”
On the same day that the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a major new global warming report, John Coleman, a founder of the Weather Channel, appeared on CNN Sunday to reiterate his stance that “climate change is not happening.”
Describing himself as a “skeptic,” not a denier – “that is a word meant to put me down” – the veteran weather forecaster told CNN’s “Reliable Sources” that the news network was promoting an inaccurate view on the issue.
“CNN has taken a very strong position on global warming, that it is a consensus,” he said. “Well, there is no consensus in science. Science isn’t a vote, science is about facts.”

REV. GRAHAM/OBAMA WRONG/ISLAM FALSE RELIGION
(CNSNews.com) – Reverend Franklin Graham, son of world renowned evangelical pastor Billy Graham, said that President Barack Obama was “fundamentally mistaken” about radical Islam; questioned why peaceful Muslims do not collectively condemn jihadist terrorism; and argued that Islam “is a false religion” and that “it is impossible for a false religion to be a true religion of peace.”
Rev. Franklin Graham also cited examples from a speech he recently gave outside the White House, decrying the actions of followers of a “peaceful religion” who practice “female circumcision,” hijacking, kidnapping, “honor” killings, and decapitation.
Rev. Graham commended President Obama for sending some U.S. troops to fight the Islamic State but, citing Obama’s Sept. 24 speech at the United Nations where the president said “Islam teaches peace,” the reverend said, “I also believe our president is completely and fundamentally mistaken about the intolerant and violent nature of hardened Islamic followers.”
"For Muslims, peace comes only through submission to Islam,” said Rev. Graham in his November commentary for Decision magazine, published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “When they speak of peace, they mean submission to their religion. Worldwide, tens of thousands of men, women and children have been slaughtered in the name of Allah, under the bloody flag of Islam.”

Fed Using Uber Service Points Gun at Driver’s Head
"Do you want to live or die?"
A man who pointed a gun at the head of an Uber driver in Salt Lake City, Utah last week has turned out to be a federal police officer.
According to reports, 44-year-old Byron McDonald, a Lieutenant with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Justice Services, was picked up at a downtown bar by Uber driver James Brothers on October 20 after spending the evening with a group of friends.
“Immediately I kind of felt there was something off with him. Not only was he intoxicated, but there had to have been something else,” Brothers said. “As I’m driving, he’s like really paranoid. I have my hand on my leg. And he grabs my hand and firmly places it on the gear shift, and he says, ‘You need to keep your hand there.’”

Soda Can Kill You in 7 Ways
Many Americans have taken to heart the onslaught of studies indicating that drinking sodas is bad for their health. Consumption has been steadily decreasing during the past decade, and the downward trend continues. A recent Gallup poll found that 63 percent of people "actively" tried to avoid soda compared to only 41 percent in 2002.
The average American still drinks gallons of the sweet stuff — an average of 45 gallons a year, and we still drink twice as much as we did 30 years ago. Studies increasingly show its deadly effects, from our expanding waistlines to the epidemic of diabetes sweeping the country. Research published this month by the University at California at San Francisco found even more bad news: Sugary sodas shorten your life by shortening telomeres, which are the caps that protect DNA by keeping chromosomes from unraveling.
Researchers studied DNA from more than 5,300 volunteers ages 20 to 65. They found that drinking 20 ounces of soda a day shortened telomeres to the equivalent of an additional 4.6 years of aging, comparable to the effect of smoking.
Seven health problems linked to soft drinks include:
1. Obesity.

Were Sledgehammer Attacks Racially-Motivated?
Crime may fit pattern of downplayed black on white crime
Las Vegas resident Damien Robins, 31, faces six attempted murder charges and one count of assault with a deadly weapon after he launched a series of random assaults last Friday on drivers in Boulder City, carrying out multiple sledgehammer attacks on nearly 10 people within the course of an hour.
Fox 5 Vegas reports:
[Henderson Police Department spokesperson Keith] Paul said the incident started in Boulder City around 8 p.m. Friday when Robins is accused of attacking a woman in a car with a one-handed sledgehammer in a convenience store parking lot. He then attacked two elderly people in the parking lot of a Boulder City auto parts store, according to Paul.
Next, police said Robins ran a driver off the road on U.S. 93 and hit the male driver several times with the hammer. Authorities said after that attack, Robins drove off and ran another driver off the roadway and attacked that driver with the hammer.
Attack victim Nicole Thompson (pictured below) told CBS affiliate 8 News Now she pleaded for her life as Robins smashed out her windows and proceeded to hit her in the head.

Plutocratic Populism Pays
What’s with rich liberals who blast other people for being rich?
In early October, Barack Obama went to a $32,000-a-head fundraiser at the 20-acre estate of the aptly named billionaire Richie Richman. The day before he charmed his paying audience of liberal 1 percenters, Obama had sent out an e-mail alleging that Republicans were “in the pocket of billionaires.” Does that mean that Republicans who accept cash from billionaire supporters are always in their pockets, but that when the president does likewise, he never is? And if so, on what grounds is he exempt from his own accusations?
In mid-October, Hillary Clinton gave a short lecture at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas bewailing the crushing costs of a university education. “Higher education,” Clinton thundered, “shouldn’t be a privilege for those able to afford it.”
One reason tuition and student indebtedness have soared — UNLV’s tuition is set to go up by 17 percent next year — is that universities pay exorbitant fees to multimillionaire speakers like Hillary Clinton. College foundations sprout up to raise money for perks that might not pass transparent university budgeting. Clinton — or her own foundation — reportedly charged a university foundation $225,000 for a talk lasting less than an hour. For that sum, she could have paid the tuition of over 320 cash-strapped UNLV students. Is there a Clinton Tuition Fund, to which Hillary contributes a portion of her honoraria to exempt herself from the ramifications of her own accusations?

The 600 Smartest Colleges In America
Schools are constantly being ranked on everything from student happiness, campus beauty, success of alums, and professor prestige. But where should you go if you want to be among the most intelligent students in America?
Exclusively for Business Insider, Jonathan Wai, a Duke University Talent Identification Program researcher, calculated a ranking of America's colleges and universities based purely on smarts, as reflected by the school's average scores on standardized tests.
These tests are often criticized, but research shows that both the SAT and ACT are good measures of general cognitive ability; and the average scores that schools report to U.S. News gives a reasonable snapshot of the brainpower level of that school.
We updated our ranking from last year by including all the schools in the national university, liberal arts college, regional university, and regional college lists that reported SAT or ACT scores in the latest U.S. News ranking.
ACT scores were translated into SAT scores (math + verbal) using this concordance table so that all schools could be compared using one metric. Finally, an average of the 25th and 75th percentile was computed (see a full description of the methodology and limitations here). This resulted in a total of 1,339 schools analyzed, from which we pulled the top 600.
