Fatal Accident On Rt. 50
A vehicle heading East bound on Rt. 50, crossing over near the Shorebirds Stadium to pick up the Bypass was struck by another vehicle and the passenger in the vehicle that was struck has been pronounced dead.
There's been a serious backup for the past hour. Sorry Folks, I've been away from the computer for a little while today. There may be more to come......

I was in a conversation earlier today discussing the Candidate Interviews. They said, Norm Conway would have never done an interview with you in the past Joe but now he HAS TO. He went on to say, he doesn't have a choice any more.
While we're honored someone like Norm Conway and every other Candidate took the time to express their platform, we don't ever want to be in the position where someone MUST do something. However, its because people like YOU who come to SBYNews.com and publish comments, finally, our politicians are now made accountable.
5 years ago the "other side" of the story was never told. Even when we started telling the "other side", many didn't want to believe it. Today, it's a whole new ball game, again, because of YOU.

OK, here's the deal. If you use the Maryland Case Search link below it will take you to this guys criminal history. I have provided just a small example of what we're dealing with as a community. HOWEVER, as I rarely ever challenge the judicial system, I'm going to do so, two fold.
Number one, why did it take Joel Todd almost an entire year before he charged this guy with child pornography? BECAUSE ITS AN ELECTION YEAR! More importantly, (secondly) why are Judges these days NOT seeing the writing on the wall with these kind of criminals? We have experienced some of the most horrific crimes the Eastern Shore has ever seen, perhaps even in the history of America. Doctor Bradley in Delaware who allegedly raped hundreds of infants and young children and then Thomas Leggs who was released time and time again only to be arrested and charged with the murder of Sarah Foxwell.
Now I'm no Judge and I'm no States Attorney but I am raising a small child and scumbags like Kirt Greenburg need to be taken a whole lot more serious than they are as we have seen the end result of the judicial system not working for us. The system is clearly broken but I say, shame on Joel Todd for NOT charging this man IMMEDIATELY and waiting until election time to bring forth such a case. OUR children have been at risk for almost a year for his convenience.
Again, there's a criminal history that goes into a second page on this guy that clearly spells out the trouble he's seen with the law over many years. There's a pattern here and I personally believe it needs proper attention.

Ehrlich-Kane Campaign Exceeds Fundraising Goal, Shows Strong Momentum Heading Into Fall Campaign
ANNAPOLIS – More than 13,000 donors – 96 percent of whom reside in Maryland – contributed $3.2 million to the Ehrlich-Kane ticket for the reporting period ending August 10th, putting Bob Ehrlich and Mary Kane in a virtual dead heat with the O’Malley-Brown campaign for the period. The Ehrlich campaign exceeded its goal of $3 million raised for the period.
“It is truly humbling that so many Marylanders of all political parties would embrace our plan to get Maryland working again with more jobs, lower taxes, and less spending,” said Ehrlich. “We built a campaign operation from scratch just four months ago, yet ran virtually neck and neck with the incumbent in this fundraising period. The results reinforce what we hear in every community: Marylanders are embracing our positive, ideas-driven vision for Maryland and rejecting my opponent’s attack ads and cynicism.”
The percent of in-state donations and small dollar donations is a strong confirmation that the Ehrlich-Kane ticket’s momentum is fueled by working Marylanders, not powerful interests or out-of-state donors. The O’Malley–Brown campaign has thus far refused to release their percent of small dollar donors or out-of-state donors.
Ehrlich-Kane Campaign Finance Report Facts:
· More than 96 percent of all contributions are from Maryland
· The Ehrlich campaign has in excess of $2 million in the bank
· 14,730 donors made 22,150 contributions to the campaign since January, 2007
· Since April, the campaign received 18,267 contributions from 13,335 donors
· 63 percent of the donations were under $50 and 65 percent were less than $100
· 36 percent of the donors are first time Ehrlich donors
· Since April, the average donation is $171
· Mary Kane for Maryland reports $11,000 in donations
PA Violence Continues; Direct Talks Reported To Be Near
Palestinian Authority Arab terrorist groups have stepped up their attacks in Judea and Samaria as pressure over Israel-PA negotiations increases and rumors swirl regarding an impending move to direct talks.
Two IDF soldiers and a civilian woman were wounded in rock-throwing attacks in the past week. In other such attacks, vehicles were damaged but the passengers escaped injury. In one such case, a driver escaped unscathed despite being targeted by a barrage of Molotov cocktails; the vehicle was damaged.
PA officials recently admitted that Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is under intense pressure to agree to direct negotiations with Israel. Abbas has demanded that Israel freeze construction east of the 1949 armistice line and agree to use the line as the base for negotiations on the borders of a PA state. Only when Israel concedes will the PA begin talks, he says.
This week, two reports appeared to suggest that Israel is under pressure to agree to Abbas's demands. On Friday, the London-based Arabic daily Al-Hayyat reported that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has agreed to give Abbas 90% of Judea and Samaria for the establishment of a PA state, and to forcibly expel the roughly 50,000 Jews living in the area.
Netanyahu's office has denied the report.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Abbas may agree to direct talks if Netanyahu agrees to a PA state with borders based on the 1949 armistice line – an agreement that would leave the PA with all of Judea and Samaria and much of Jerusalem, including the Old City and other historically Jewish neighborhoods such as Shiloach (Silwan) and Shimon Hatzaddik.

On Friday, the London-based Arabic daily Al-Hayyat reported that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has agreed to give Abbas 90% of Judea and Samaria for the establishment of a PA state, and to forcibly expel the roughly 50,000 Jews living in the area.
Netanyahu's office has denied the report.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Abbas may agree to direct talks if Netanyahu agrees to a PA state with borders based on the 1949 armistice line – an agreement that would leave the PA with all of Judea and Samaria and much of Jerusalem, including the Old City and other historically Jewish neighborhoods such as Shiloach (Silwan) and Shimon Hatzaddik.
The Reuters report was based on a letter written by European Union representative Catherine Ashton. Ashton allegedly said that Abbas would agree to direct talks next week if Israel gives in to his demand.
Immigration Chief: 'We're Going To Get This Right'
The federal government has deported more illegal immigrants from the U.S. than ever before, the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Thursday as part of an effort to push back on the suggestion Washington isn't doing enough.
"For those who doubt the federal government's resolve in the enforcement of immigration law, let me say this: We are committed to strong, effective immigration enforcement, and the facts speak for themselves," ICE Director John Morton said.
He said his agency removed a record 380,000 illegal immigrants from the U.S. last fiscal year, and about a third of them were convicted criminals. So far this fiscal year, ICE removed 136,000 illegal immigrants who are convicted criminals, also a record, Morton said.
"Is there more work to be done? Absolutely. Is the problem a significant one, a challenging one for the nation? Absolutely," he said. But "we're in this for the long haul. ... We're going to get this right."
Border staffing also is at an all-time high, and will only increase under a $600 million plan by President Barack Obama to put more agents and equipment along the Mexican border, Morton said.
The measure would fund the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents to be deployed at critical areas along the border, 250 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, and 250 more Customs and Border Protection officers.
From politicians to average residents, many in Arizona and elsewhere say the federal government isn't doing its job despite the increased efforts and deportations.

Ehrlich Camp Now Dodging Brian Murphy
FYI - I am not connected with either candidate - (Ehrlich or Murphy). I am simply a political observer.

If Ehrlich does manage to prevail through the September primary I predict he will be DOA - (dead on arrival) - on the General election date - as most conservative republicans will then flee to O'Malley.
Simply put - there is not much difference in either candidate as both can be deemed to be liberal.

A previously unknown stepsister of Barack Obama died unexpectedly earlier this year.
Internet researchers made the link between the president and his previously undisclosed stepsister, Holiyah "Lia" Soetoro Sobah, after translating from obituaries published in Indonesia. She died Feb. 26.
The obituaries identified Lia as having been adopted by Lolo Soetoro, Obama's stepfather, and Ann Dunham Obama Soetoro, the president's mother.
The surfacing of Lia as an adopted child of Lolo Soetoro and Dunham raises the question of whether Barack Obama himself might have been adopted officially as Lolo Soetoro's stepson while in Indonesia from 1967 to 1971.
Even though Obama makes no mention in "Dreams from My Father" of having had an Indonesian stepsister, the Indonesian obituaries make clear that Obama slept in the same room as his stepsister while the two of them grew up together in the Soetoro home in Jakarta.

TARP Billions Shipped Overseas Can't Halt Global Slowdown
Economists and conservatives reacted sharply Thursday to reports that tens of billions in TARP bailout money flowed out of the United States and into the coffers of big banks in France, Germany, and other nations during the government rescue of the U.S. financial system.
That news came as the U.S. economic picture continued to worsen, with rising unemployment claims and a surge in U.S. homes lost to foreclosure.
CATO Institute budget analyst Tad DeHaven tells Newsmax: “The economy has become increasingly global, so it’s not shocking that TARP bailout money ended up at foreign financial institutions. Nonetheless, bailing out U.S. financial firms was bad enough — that foreign institutions also benefitted from the largesse just adds insult to injury.”
J.D. Foster, senior economics fellow at The Heritage Foundation, said: "The overwhelming force slowing the economy down now is a lack of confidence among American businesses and consumers. The primary reason for that lack of confidence is the policies out of Washington seem completely out of touch with that reality."

Federal workers have been awarded bigger average pay and benefit increases than private employees for nine years in a row. The compensation gap between federal and private workers has doubled in the past decade.
Federal civil servants earned average pay and benefits of $123,049 in 2009 while private workers made $61,051 in total compensation, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The data are the latest available.
The federal compensation advantage has grown from $30,415 in 2000 to $61,998 last year.
Public employee unions say the compensation gap reflects the increasingly high level of skill and education required for most federal jobs and the government contracting out lower-paid jobs to the private sector in recent years.

It amazes me that Congress made a special trip to Washington to spend more money, not to pass a budget or extend tax cuts that are about to expire. It’s been a great week on the campaign trail! Saturday, I went to the Blessing of the Combines in Snow Hill and got to ride a John Deere in the Parade of Combines! The festival was filled with antique farm equipment, local organizations, and is an amazing tradition that highlights the importance of the agriculture community on the Eastern Shore. I met people at the Caroline-Dorchester County Fair and the Triple Play GOP Picnic in Anne Arundel County. It was a beautiful Saturday to travel the District!
Last Wednesday, I spoke to the Associated Guns Club of Baltimore in Baltimore County. They have over 60 acres of conservation land that is used for gun education and safety training. The members know how important Second Amendment rights are to this country. They need someone in Washington to represent them and what they stand for. Also this week I spent the day in Easton, went to the Queen Anne’s County Fair, and sign-waved in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Queen Anne’s Counties.

Delegate Addie Eckardt announced today that she will be touring the MidShore by bicycle beginning August 26. She will travel the four counties in legislative District 37B to highlight the uniqueness of the counties, their rich beauty, history and cultural eco tourism and feature the small towns. “Our small towns have to adhere to the same laws and regulations as our larger cities without comparable resources” said Eckardt. “These communities depend on volunteers for fire and emergency services and financial assistance from various groups and organizations for cultural heritage and historical buildings and sites.” I have supported many projects over the years that preserve not only our heritage but our economy as well. As we plan for the future, let’s take advantage of our environment and history and build on our existing treasures.

Delaware State Police Friday July 23, 2010 responded to the Citizen’s Bank located at 146 Fox Hunt Drive Fox Run Shopping Center Bear, Delaware for a Robbery investigation. The robbery occurred around 5:58 p.m. inside of the Acme Supermarket located in the aforementioned location.
State Police Detectives advised a white male described as being in his mid forties, six foot in height and weighing 260 pounds entered the business and made contact with a teller. The suspect preceded to hand the teller a note demanding money. The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of United States currency after which he fled from the supermarket. The suspect did not display a weapon and there are no reported injuries.
The suspect is further described as wearing a khaki colored hat and short sleeved yellow shirt. The suspect had facial hair.

BARRICADE ENDS IN CARROLL COUNTY
(Sykesville, MD) – Maryland State Police have successfully rescued a 61-year-old man after barricading himself in his residence since noon yesterday.
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., the man, who is not being identified at this time, surrendered to state police after multiple attempts made by negotiators from the Hostage Recovery Team and the Maryland State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element (S.T.A.T.E. Team). The man exited the residence, alone and without injury. He was immediately taken into police custody and transported to Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster for an evaluation.
There was no one else found in the residence. There were no injuries. The man was alone when he barricaded himself in the house. Criminal charges are pending.
Around noon today, troopers responded to a single family home at the 900-block of Streaker Road in Sykesville, to check on the welfare of the man who was reportedly inside the home. When troopers arrived, gunshots were heard coming from inside the house. Troopers immediately established a perimeter. Streaker Road was closed from Route 97 to Route 94.
The collective expertise of numerous experts in tactical operations and hostage negotiations contributed to accomplishing the overall goal of resolving the situation peacefully and without injuries. Troopers from the Westminster Barrack, the Maryland State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element (STATE Team), negotiators from the Hostage Recovery Team and Trooper 3 from the Frederick Aviation Section responded to the scene. Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department and Sheriff Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted. Streaker Road will be reopened at approximately 11:00 p.m. tonight.

REWARD OFFERED IN HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION - UP TO $10,000 OFFERED
(Annapolis, MD) – A reward of $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for a hit and run that killed a highway worker in Annapolis on eastbound Rt. 50 at Bay Dale Drive on June 3, 2010.
Ghassen A. Sabra, 52, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, was working under contract with the Maryland State Highway Administration, when he was killed by an unknown vehicle. State police CRASH Team investigators believe he was in the roadway when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, state police at the Glen Burnie Barracks were notified that a Queen Anne’s County ambulance returning to its base was on the scene of a traffic fatality on eastbound Rt. 50 at Bay Dale Drive. The ambulance crew had been a short distance behind a tractor trailer that struck the victim’s body lying in lane two of the highway. Emergency care was immediately provided, but he was deceased.

From Kickball To Soccer: Wicomico County’s Adult Social Recreation Program Continues Into The Fall
(Salisbury, MD) Wicomico Recreation, Parks and Tourism’s Social Recreation Program for adults 16 and older will continue this fall with Adult Coed Soccer. Registration is currently open and will be accepted through Friday, September 3 at 5:00pm.
The coed soccer league is for men and women ages sixteen and older. It will feature eight players per side on shorter fields. Games will be played under the lights at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex (711 Naylor Mill Road) on Wednesday nights beginning Wednesday, September 8. The league will consist of eight regular season games and will also include playoffs (single elimination). Cleats are recommended but not required (no metal spikes).
Room is still available for individuals, small groups and whole teams. Individuals and small groups will be formed into teams accordingly. Individual registration is $27 per player ($32 for non-Wicomico County residents). Teams can register for $325. There is an additional referee cost of $10 per team/per game. The recommended team size is 12 to 15 players. Players can register at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center Box Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Registration forms can be downloaded in advance at www.wicomicorecandparks.org.

Annapolis - Today, Eric Wargotz M.D., a candidate for the United States Senate in Maryland, praised the passage of the "Border Bill" that provides $600 million in new funding to increase security along the border with Mexico. "We must secure our borders and this bill helps accomplish that." Wargotz said. The bill includes money for 1500 new border patrol agents, 2 unmanned drones, and military-style bases along the border.
"While this bill is a good first step, we have much more work to do to secure our borders." Wargotz added. "For thirty-four years Senator Mikulski has failed to secure our borders. It is time for new leadership."

NARRATIVE: On August 12, 2010 at 2223 hours the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack received a call indicating there was a victim at that residence who had been shot. Trooper, Deputies from the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office and Detectives from the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation responded and located the victim in the living room. EMS from the Salisbury Fire Department responded to treat the victim. The victim was walking in the area of Nikomis Ave alone when he was approached by an unknown suspect and shot. He was transported to PRMC and is expected to make a full recovery.

Swenson Earns First Win and Startup Earns First Save
Salisbury, Md. – The Delmarva Shorebirds broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning and went onto top the Lakewood BlueClaws 2-1 at FirstEnergy Park on Thursday night. The Shorebirds were outhit 9-4 but managed to win. The ‘Birds are 4-2 this season at FirstEnergy Park.
The Shorebirds sprinted ahead in the first inning. After the first two batters struck out, Brian Conley hit a double to right field. It was his first at-bat since hurting his quad on July 31. Then, Kieron Pope hit a chopper to third that tipped off the glove of Stephen Batts and into shallow right field, allowing Conley to score.
Lakewood knotted the affair at 1-1 in the fifth. Keoni Ruth hit a lead off double down the left field line. Two batters later, Leandro Castro hit a check-swing flare into shallow left field to plate Ruth.
The Shorebirds regained the lead in the eighth inning. T.J. Baxter reached on a fielder’s choice. He then stole his team high 29th base of the season. With one out, Ty Kelly ripped a double down the right field line to plate Baxter and give the ‘Birds a 2-1 edge.
Aaron Swenson earned the win in two shutout innings. He relieved Brent Allar in the sixth inning and allowed just two hits.
Will Startup earned his first save of the season by shutting down the BlueClaws in the eighth and ninth innings. Startup fanned three batters in the two innings.
Brent Allar pitched well in a starting role. In five innings, he allowed seven hits and one run.
Lakewood’s second reliever Ebelin Lugo was pinned with the loss.
