Another new Contributor has joined Salisbury News, the Grinch. I'm confident everyone will enjoy his Posts as he is a life long resident of Salisbury, keepin it real.

50 Year Old Woman In Laurel Explodes

Last night a 50 year old woman from Laurel, DE. was sitting in her home with her Daughter in another room. She was on an oxygen tank and she fired up a cigarette and the tank exploded.

Her Daughter heard the explosion and ran into the room where her Mother was on fire. She wrapped her up in a blanket and dragged her outside of the home and away from the fire. She attempted CPR but it didn't help, she was gone.

The Delaware State Police arrived in masses thinking it was a fire bomb explosion but quickly learned what had really happened.

DON'T SMOKE AND USE OXYGEN!

Where are the Salisbury Street Sweepers

If you ride and look at the many drains around the downtown plaza this is the sight you will undoubtedly see. Is that the way to welcome people to our All American City Mayor?

Yard Sales

I'm not quite sure why this weekend's yard sales did not show up earlier this morning, but they're there now. Here's the link again:

Wicomico Dispensary - If You Tell A Lie Often Enough ...

... people may just start to believe it.

At least that seems to be the strategy of WCLCB manager Justin Collis.  In an op-ed in today's Daily Times, Collis tries to deflect attention from spending that may, in fact, be criminal by trying to make us believe that the money was spent on Christmas food baskets for dispensary employees.

No, Justin.  We won't fall for this ridiculous "bait and switch".  Why don't you try honest for a change?  Instead of trying to decieve the people of Wicomico County, why don't you:

  • explain why giving taxpayers' money to a Crisfield social club is somehow a legitimate dispensary expense?
  • explain how taking dispensary employees to play Junior Jeff Gordon in Dover is somehow a valid use of taxpayers' money?

Lower Shore Young Republicans Relay

Dear Friends and Family,

The fight against cancer goes on. There is no one I know who can say they DO NOT have a friend or relative that has battled this terrible disease. The Young Republicans have found a way to help in the fight against cancer- through the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Relay for Life is a team event that celebrates cancer survivors, and raises funds for the American Cancer Society research, education, prevention, advocacy and patient services. It is a fun, outdoor and overnight fundraising event where teams take turns walking or running around a track. Our team will be joined by hundreds of others September 26th and 27th at the Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Millions of people take part in Relay for Life events around the country and it raises over 40% of the funding for the American Cancer Society.

The Relay starts off with a Survivor's Walk, where cancer survivors walk the initial lap, symbolizing the courage that survivors and their families display and sustain in their lives. On the opening night, there is a beautiful and touching Luminaria Ceremony that pays tribute to cancer survivors and to loved ones who still live on in our hearts.

How can you help?
You can support the Young Republican team by making a tax-deductible contribution to the American Cancer Society. If you would like to make a donation send your contribution along with a completed donation form to:

Thank you for supporting the fight against cancer!

Can You Trust Pohanka?

My 78 year old Mother In Law took her Toyota up to Pohanka the other day because she was going to make a trip to North Carolina and she wanted to make sure her fluids were at the proper level and so forth.

Mind you, this vehicle is a couple of years old and it's her around town vehicle with very low miles on it, 9,000 to be exact.

By the time she got out of there she was hit with replacing the water pump and a belt that allegedly needed to be replaced.

Now I don't know about any of you but there was no noise coming from any belt and the damn belt better last for more mileage than 9,000 miles, especially on a Toyota. There were NO fluids leaking out of the vehicle onto the ground and no overheating problems whatsoever, but she is a woman and she is 78 years old. Need I say more?

No one is selling cars, so obviously they need to make it up on service.

Nasty Bacteria In Chesapeake Bay Waters

"It was just last Saturday that I was sitting down with Capt. Bob Ford and Capt.
Warren Tilton enjoying a couple of cold ones after a long day fishing at a small
restaurant in Princess Anne when it came up. Capt. Ford started telling a story
about how his arm got infected after sticking his arm in a live well full of
spot. It would seem that he had a small cut on him arm and the water he stuck
his arm into was contaminated with vibrio bacteria. He shortly there after
became very sick and when he finally made it to the doctor and they did a test
on him which at that time they found the bacteria. He explained that if he
waited any longer he would have lost his arm to the infection that ensued from
the vibrio bacteria. I was extremely floored over this as at that time I was
just getting over a very nasty infection in my finger I got after I got poked by
a rockfish fin on a fishing trip that Capt. Tilton and I were on 3 weeks prior.
A day after my finger got poked it started aching and within 3 days it was swollen to 2 times the normal size. It took 3 weeks for my finger to completely get back to its regular size. Capt. Tilton then told us that it happened to him a year before and he knew another captain it affected after getting poked by a fish 2 years ago. Capt. Ford went to the doctor and we know for a fact that it was vibrio bacteria that affected him but I did a little research of my own as my infection was bad but
not life threatening as Capt. Ford’s. It would seem that I was infected by
mycobacteria. This also is a nasty little bacterium that has been known for years as fish handler’s disease. I just wanted to let people know even though you may have fished for years please take precautions while handling fish. I personally do not handle fish without gloves anymore as my infection in my finger was very painful and I don’t want that to happen again and god forbid if I got infected with the vibrio bacteria. Please take a look at the two links below for any questions you may have on these nasty bacteria strains that are obviously in our tidal waters of the Chesapeake.

Sincerely,

Ted Hastings"

Gotta Love The Headlines

Careful Where You Shop

"I just wanted to let everyone in on this little scam and knew you could get the word out.

Of course I realize it is your decision if you post this or not.
Let me first say I usually go to Sam's for gas and was doing so before you starting posting the price on your blog.
I just happened to be on Snow Hill road today and saw the price for gas advertised at Vintage Wine /Universal (what used to be Super Soda). I had cash so I thought I'd stop since 3.39 is a good price this week. I went in to the store and handed the cashier $40 and asked for 40 on pump 7.

I went out and turned the pump on the price came up 3.44 so I went back in and asked why before I started pumping. The cashier told me the pump displayed the highest price when first turned on but would godown to 3.39 once I started pumping. So I went back out and started pumping surprise the price didn't change. I went in and told the girl it was still reading 3.44 she pointed at the other girl who I guess was management. I told them I wanted my money back and they weren't very happy.
I just want everyone to know when you go anywhere to get gas always check the price on the pump is the price that is advertised, especially when they have one price for cash and another for credit. As for me I'll stick with Sam's Club from now on.

BTW Who besides the better business Bureau Can I report this to?"

SSU SLASHES JOBS

Sent to the Daily Times.

"You guys just kill me. It's no wonder Gannetts stock is slumping.

Instead of reporting the cause and effect relationship for SSU - (i.e. government confiscation and takeover of hordes of former private enterprise buildings) - your media gives the perception that it is just a sagging economy.

DA. . . what do you think put the drain on the system to begin with. . . MASSIVE GOVERNMENT EXPANSION.

Look it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. . .just drive your car down Bateman Street, South Division Street, Rt. 13, College Avenue, and look at the hordes of government confiscations. Hell, the Allenwood Shopping Center was bought by the State for $300,000 more than the appraised value. How about Tri-State Electric, Old Purity Bacon Plant, oodles and oodles of residential frat houses on College Avenue.

Janet Dudley Eshbaugh isn't even from around here. But she does do one hell of a Propaganda job.
