Chart Of The Day: DuckDuckGo

A month ago, I highlighted the explosive growthin privacy focused search engine DuckDuckGo. At the time, I also stated that I would start using it for my searches to see how it goes. Well I am very pleased to report that I have now successfully conditioned myself to use this search engine for about 90% of my online queries, and I have found the results to be excellent. It appears I am not the only one, as according to website information hub Alexa, DuckDuckGo’s performance has continued to go parabolic.

A Potential Cure For Alzheimer’s?

The accumulation of a specific protein in the aging brain may be the cause of numerous devastating neurodegenerative diseases – most notably Alzheimer’s disease.

But it’s not amyloids – the proteins that most health experts blame for the brain-wasting condition. It’s an entirely new culprit.

How Textbooks Push Children to the Left

Are you surprised that leftist ideas have penetrated the minds of the people? Chalk up this reality to the leftist teachers and, especially, to the left-oriented textbooks now in use in our secondary schools. One book in particular that has been gaining traction in New York City in recent years is “The Americans.”

Although even the leftist teachers claim not to like this textbook used in U.S. history (a one-year course required in NYC for all juniors) because it is so skimpy on facts and is written in an opaque style, any informed reader would have to agree that it is one of the most politically correct textbooks one could imagine. Reading this book, one gets the message that the history of America is a theme of victimization. The list of victims is well known: Native Americans, women, labor, immigrants, blacks, farmers, urban dwellers, the mentally ill, migrant workers, unions, etc. “The Americans” is a somewhat diluted version of Howard Zinn’s openly communist college textbook, “A People’s History of the United States.” It is also worth adding that this reference to Zinn’s “communism” is not putting labels on anyone, and is not a McCarthy-like type of red-baiting of an innocent individual; Zinn openly announced his communism decades ago when he taught at Boston University.

E.W. Jackson Calls Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton 'Idiots'

Speaking before a crowd of Republicans in Williamsburg Thursday, E.W. Jackson, the GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, narrowed in on race issues and lashed out against President Barack Obama and two prominent civil rights leaders, accusing them of dividing the country.

“I believe we can transcend some of these racial lines, of course we have to stop listening to idiots like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton,” Jackson said at the Colonial Area Republican Men’s Association monthly luncheon.
“Maybe I shouldn’t call them idiots, misguided might be a better word,” Jackson quickly added. “They want to divide us; they want to turn everything into a racial issue. I think the American people so desperately want to get past that. But it’s so hard when you got leadership that uses every opportunity and try to divide us.”

Another Media Ship Is Going Down

Another media ship is going down. Break out the champagne.

The big-3 Sunday morning news shows are basically politicians talking through the screen to their colleagues in Georgetown. Gibberish from idiots to other idiots.

In so far as the shows reach the general viewing public…

The unspoken premise of This Week, Meet the Press, and Face the Nation goes like this: Given the fact that America is making constant war to expand the imperial corporate empire, the military industrial complex is suffering a hernia from carrying so much money, multiple agencies are spying on everybody all the time, the medical system in America is killing 2.25 million people per decade, millions of acres of untested GMO food plus Roundup are a runaway health disaster, the Fed Reserve is a private banking monopoly posing as a government agency, the Mexican border is a sieve for the Sinaloa Cartel to kick off their Washington-approved drug routes to a distribution hub called Chicago, only “the cops and thugs should have guns,” the government-sponsored mental-health monopoly called psychiatry is destroying the brains of countless numbers of children, vaccines are filled with toxic ingredients, the federal government is pouring wet cement on the Constitution every hour of every day, more people are using food stamps than are working, our children are learning how to become little robots in school, the free and independent individual is an anathema, television is brainwashing 300 million people, and all presidents are vetted to ensure they’ll support a Globalist planet…NONE OF WHICH WE’LL TOUCH ON IN THE NEXT HOUR…

WHAT’S NEW THIS WEEK?

As 911 Anniversary Nears, Bikers Ride To Remember

ARLINGTON, Va. - This September marks 12 years since the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The America's 911 Foundation is paying tribute to the first responders by taking its message on the road.

Just after sunrise, a roar of engines shook the ground. One thousand motorcycles lined up in neat rows in the Pentagon's north parking lot. Attached to nearly every bike was an American flag.

Richard Betz's handlebars were decorated with the annual ride bracelets from years past. "I believe very much in the firefighters and the police and the military in this country. I'm here to support them," he says. "I don't think we can do enough for them."

THE SERIOUSLY DISGUSTING THING FOUND GROWING INSIDE BOY’S KNEE

Doctors in Aliso Viejo, Calif., initially thought 4-year-old Paul Franklin had a staph infection resulting from a cut on his knee. When a round of antibiotics did nothing to heal the would, his family discovered a much more bizarre problem.

Acting against a doctor’s recommendation, the boy’s mother squeezed the wound to drain it after her son’s knee started turning black.

It was then that a black sea snail shot out of the boy’s knee.

SAUERBREY: The Durbin Inquisition

Intimidation tactics should be beneath a senator
How does a conservative group know it is doing something right? It’s a pretty good clue when a heavy-handed leftist U.S. senator attempts to intimidate its supporters.

Sen. Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, has sent a chilling letter to some 300 organizations and individuals who are suspected of having supported the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) at any time since 2005.

The Durbin letter asks the recipients if they have served as a member of ALEC or provided any funding to ALEC in 2013. It also asks if the recipient supports “stand your ground” self-defense legislation that was promoted by ALEC a number of years ago. The letter demands a response by Sept. 1, for the purpose of a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The weeds that we used to shade our crops are also gone,” owner of the Garden of Eden Shellie Smith told WFAA of the scene after authorities came through.

Does Your Community Need You?

Just days after seeing a recruiting poster in a Frederick sandwich shop, Derek White became a member of the New Market Fire Co.

For years the 26-year-old had longed to be a firefighter. He applied for a position in Salisbury and, after pursuing the job for several months, he was turned down.

"I had lost all hope," he said in a recent interview.

So his expectations were low when in December he saw the poster at Firehouse Subs. He half-jokingly filled out an application. Much to his surprise, he received a call the next day.

White House Report: Power Outages Expected To Increase, Get More Expensive

Marylanders know the headaches that come with prolonged power outages, and now, a White House report warns there could be more to come. It says severe weather is the number-one cause of power outages in the United States, costing the nation an average of $18 billion to $33 billion a year. The Obama administration says it wants to strengthen the power grid as climate change increases the intensity and severity of storms.

According to Josh Saks, legislative director for the National Wildlife Federation, new protections are critical.

"We've seen hurricanes in the past ten years push up through Annapolis and parts of Maryland," Saks recalled. "And I would say Maryland needs to continue to work towards resiliency, because climate change issues are only going to exacerbate."

A Huge Breath Of Fresh Air

Wow!!! A young man too smart for college simply because they cannot teach him anything.

This is a short video clip from NBC Rock Center with Brian Williams. It's about a now 19 year old in Nevada who is in process of changing how we use Nuclear Fusion. He has a vision of a pure fusion but is in process of building small reactors that will not fail and contaminate like our 50's style we use.

But if his mind finds a way for pure fusion, it may be our path way to the stars and beyond.

He is a prodigy and his brother is a math whiz. They have him working with a professor at a school for the exceptionally gifted who said, after working with him for awhile, he has never encountered a smarter person than this kid. yet he is so down to earth. But mathematics and the vision to see and understand it, is the gateway to the unknown.

Anyway. Thought some of you may enjoy watching this and dreaming of a better future.

Ocean City Closing Out Summer Strong

This summer's wacky weather may have hurt the bottom line at local beach resorts early in the season, but end of summer totals are expected to be strong.

Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan says room tax numbers from June were the highest ever. The Ocean City Hotel-Motel Restaurant Association says Independence Day in July was one of the best ever. And Meehan says longer term condominium rentals have been doing very well.

The beach season however did get off to a slow start. Big events such as the Dew Tour and Air Show allowed hotels to bump rates in order to collect higher totals of room taxes, but record-setting rain in June kept overall visitor numbers down. Periodic stretches of cooler weather also discouraged people from heading to the beach.

Jeannie Haddaway On The Administration's Announcement Of Long-Delayed Bridge Project

Lt. Governor candidate Jeannie Haddaway on the Administration's announcement of long-delayed bridge project:
"It's great that the Eastern Shore is finally getting a new Dover bridge, but this project should have been completed much quicker and for less money. The O'Malley - Brown Administration, in a flailing attempt to justify the gasoline tax increase, is trying to take credit for the Dover bridge that was already funded in the last decade. When this Administration took over, $41 million previously set aside for this project suddenly vanished.
.
"Now, nearly ten years later, the Administration is ready to hold a press conference. As we've seen with other transportation projects across the state, the O'Malley - Brown Administration takes the money, spends it on whatever they want, then warns us that roads and bridges are falling apart and raises everyone's taxes to fix the problems they created.

"They are hoping that everyone forgets that tax payers are required to pay twice due to their reckless spending policies. This is also going to cost $9 million more now that the project has been delayed."

OCPD Joins Nationwide Drunk Driving Crackdown

From mid-August through Labor Day, Ocean City police will be out in force as part of the annual nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunk driving. The crackdown, which will include high-visibility enforcement throughout Ocean City, will run from August 16 through September 2, 2013.

The effective nationwide drunk driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement and will be supported by national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive campaign to curb drunk driving in August and through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Although it is illegal in all 50 States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to drive drunk (having a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher), far too many people across the nation get behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol. The latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration underscore the serious nature of the nation’s continuing drunk driving epidemic.

“Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaigns reduces drunken driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Ocean City’s roadways safer for everyone throughout the Labor Day period,” said Chief Ross Buzzuro.

“We want to remind everyone that getting behind the wheel drunk is a terrible idea. Unfortunately, not only does drinking impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely, it also impairs your judgment and good sense about whether you can, or should drive. There are many safe modes of transportation for our residents and visitors to take advantage of, such as municipal busses and our local taxi companies,” Chief Buzzuro said.

Being arrested for driving drunk brings a wide range of negative consequences into one’s life. Drunk drivers face jail time, loss of their driver licenses, and steep financial consequences such as higher insurance rates, attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of job. When family, friends and co-workers find out, violators also often face tremendous personal embarrassment.

“Driving drunk is simply not worth the risk. So don’t take the chance. Remember, we will be out in force and we will be watching, so ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’” said Chief Buzzuro.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 8-17-13

Parsons Cemetery
A brief history

The history of Parsons Cemetery has many twists that may never be unraveled. The burial of a horse (it took 4 lots) and the identity of several plots are just two of the mysteries. A pamphlet about the history of the cemetery exists and is an excellent source of many of the facts about the cemetery to this point in time.

While the majority of the land at Parsons was originally bequeathed to St. Peter’s Church by Benjamin Parsons, there was apparently a cemetery there prior to the Civil War. When he died in 1873 without any children, his will stipulated that his home and 53 acre farm were to go to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church as a cemetery. His farm abutted the already existing city cemetery. St. Peter’s moved the graves of their Church members from the small plot next to the Church to the newly acquired land. One of the graves contained the bones of a very large man. It is thought that they belonged to “Big Ben” Allen. He was a Tory during the Revolutionary War and caused great distress to the local population that was faithful to the cause of the Revolution. It is said that he had a hiding place that was a cave near where the East prong of the WicomicoRiver now runs under the railroad tracks. The burial of several Union Army veterans quickly made Parsons Cemetery a popular final resting place in Salisbury. St. Peter’s opened the cemetery to all denominations at that point in time and today is considered a non-denominational cemetery.

Another large influx of burials came about because of the new Rt. 50 going directly through two existing cemeteries known as Potters Field and Houston Cemetery on Ward St. The removal of the graves for the right-of-way began in 1955. Some of the old graves are still there.

The genealogy of the Parsons family was graciously provided by Pat Taylor of the NabbCenter. It begins with a George Parsons who was born in 1708. He had two sons, William and George. William had a son he named William and it was this latter William’s son, Benjamin, who was the benefactor of the cemetery. George Parsons’ other son, also named George, had a son he named Jehu. Jehu had a son named Alison, who named his son Jehu. This Jehu was the mayor of Salisbury from 1898-1900. He named his son Alison after his father and this Alison is the donor of the funds for the design and construction of the brick wall along N. Division St. and the iron gates to the cemetery. A noted Williamsburg architect designed the wall, and the iron gates were hand-fabricated by a noted craftsman in Norfolk. These were added in 1967.

In 1999, columbaria were added along the west side in a beautiful setting overlooking Johnson’s Lake.

In 2000, George W. Parsons of Pittville passed away bequeathing a generous amount in his estate for the perpetuation of Parsons Cemetery.

In 2006, the former cemetery office on London Ave. was sold and this new administration/maintenance building was erected on the south side of the cemetery grounds.

Only in 2007 did we become aware that we have another distinguished person interred here. This came about because the Federal Government sent a plaque to the cemetery to be placed on the grave of a Medal of Honor recipient. He is John Purnell Chatham, who was born in Worcester County, MD on July 2, 1872, and died on October 3, 1914. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his meritorious service as a Gunner’s Mate Second Class assigned to the USS NEWARK during the China Relief Expedition during the period of June 13,20,21 and 22, 1900. The award states that he was awarded the Medal of Honor by distinguishing himself by his conduct in the presence of the enemy.

The next project in the works is to computerize the cemetery’s operations, to include creating a digitized map of the cemetery grounds, using Ramaker software, which will facilitate finding anyone interred there.

An Open Letter To The Editor

The forty Fourth President of the United States has an agenda that he is generating as themasses stand back and watch. Yes we all complain amongst our friends and family, and do nothing. Five years ago he promised a great many things like every other politician, and nothing he has promised has come to be. Unless you consider the unemployment rate or more importantly the under employment rate or the number of people that have simply dropped out of the work force.
If we were to summarize his accomplishments as they have a website so that can be done. The top fifty accomplishments listed on a web site,as I looked at it I didn’t see anything about the scandals. Benghazi, or fast and furious, spying on the press and the I.R.S. problem. I believe the last count was roughly a dozen; that was as of today.
In the interest of fairness we have gotten the affordable care act using the administrations term for the fiasco also known as “Obama Care” to the rest of us. The different terms are one of this administrations easier sleight of hand tricks. Affordable Care act is nothing of the sort and it will bury the country and the citizens of this country and it citizens in insurmountable debt. Back to the different terms subject we have all known about the “illegal Alien” problem but that just sounds too harsh so now the politically correct term is “undocumented”. Would you like to buy a bridge?
Back to the promises, and I am only touching on the blatantly abusive use of power there is simply not enough time to get into all of the lies. I can’t forget the miserable unemployment numbers or more importantly the Under-employment numbers. And while unemployment is a major issue the administration has created jobs, “low competition jobs”. Eighty seven percent of the jobs created are part time and minimum wage jobs. Guess where they are going.
We the people is apparently not part of this administrations beliefs as the attorney general does not observe the rule of law and sees it as a hindrance. Much as the Director of homeland security that picks, and chooses which laws she wants to enforce. As the border is now being overrun by illegals claiming political asylum and we are putting them up in hotels. Call room service for meals as they are under guard and not permitted to go anywhere.
Another item missed by INS is the number of people that come here to have to have a baby while on a tourist visa and never leave. As they can’t leave the baby here and get the much needed health care they couldn’t get at home.Countless illegals in this country that have overstayed their work or student visa’s, there is no way to track them. But the Russian government knows more about that than we do. Remember the Tsarnev brothers and the Boston bombings.

This country is more divided now than any other time in history other than the civil war. The separation is less defined as the middle class is being systematically destroyed by the government by horrendous fees for licenses and rising taxes. Yet the biggest businesses in this country pay little or no taxes by hiding billions overseas.
If the current number of scandals gets to be too much to handle the presidents solution seems to be jump on air force one and take a vacation and if he’s forgotten anything Marine one can bring it to them.
The President took 131 vacation days in his first term so far he has only taken 84 days of vacation in his second term. So far the president seems to be on a better pace in his second term. During his time is office the president and the first family have taken thirteen vacations a total of eighty three days costing thetax payer over twenty million dollars.
In August of 2010 Michelle Obama took her family and friends to Spain costing taxpayers over $467,585 and the trip to Africa in 2011 cost tax payers $424,142. Michelle said in a TV interview that she hated living in the white house but, loved the perks and that is easy to understand considering what she has put on your credit card. While the majority of Americans vacation on a budget if they even take a vacation.
If this isn’t enough to get your attention or make your blood boil think about this, it is not the Republicans or the Democrats that have created this mess, it is the people we put in office. It is time to take the country back, if we allow this to continue the freedoms our fathers, sons and daughters have fought for will be taken away from us. Many of them have given everything for what many of us have taken for granted. It is time for us to take the country back from Washington.
Contact your congressman or senator today…let them know what you think.
