The Wicomico County Grand Jury has handed down 5 Sealed Indictments on the principal players involving the Landfill Thefts, Ray Lewis included. I understand but am sworn not to say the figures that the Bond for Ray Lewis is significant.
Obviously there will be more to come as additional players will be coming forth very soon.

Only A Marylander Would Understand!
The day after his wife disappeared in a boating accident, an Ocean City man answered his door to find two grim-faced Maryland State Troopers.
'We're sorry Mr. Rice, but we have some information! about your wife,' said one trooper.
'Tell me! Did you find her?' Rice shouted.
The troopers looked at each other. One said, 'We have some bad news, some good news, and some really great news. Which do you want to hear first?
Fearing the worst, an ashen Rice said, 'Give me the bad news first.
The trooper said, 'I'm sorry to tell you, sir, but this morning we found your wife's body in the Assawoman Bay near the Rte 90 Bridge.
'Oh my God!' exclaimed Rice. Swallowing hard, he asked, 'What's the good news?
The trooper continued. 'When we pulled her up she had 12 huge blue crabs and 6 good-size blue crabs on her.'
Stunned, Mr. Rice demanded , 'If that's the good news, what's the great news?'
The trooper said , 'We're going to be pulling her up again tomorrow!'

BIG BREAKING NEWS!
The Grand Jury met today on the Ray Lewis / Wicomico County Landfill Theft Case and could not give an answer. I'm told they are at the States Attorneys Office working on the cases as we speak but no results have come forth as of yet. I'll let you know something just as soon as the information comes in.
Breaking News
I'm told the owner of Cropper Brothers Lumber Yard in Willards took his own life this morning. Philip Cropper shot himself.

526 W. College Ave. Fire
The fire department is now at this address responding to a fire in the upper floor. Neighbors say smoke was pouring from all of the shingle seams. The place was ventilated from the roof by the ladder truck and a chainsaw, and the fire knocked down. Damages are yet to be assessed. The property is a rental, approved in the spring for four residents from the previous three. Students had evidently vacated the building last week. Cause is yet to be determined.
T.J. Maloney and his girlfriend were there to watch the proceedings.

Wicomico Remembers:
A Ceremony to Honor those who Made the Supreme Sacrifice
(Salisbury, MD) A ceremony to honor those who made the supreme sacrifice will be held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Saturday, May 31. Beginning at 10:00am, the ceremony will be held outside at the Wicomico County War Veterans Memorial. All are encouraged to attend this rain or shine event, which is free and open to the public. As part of the ceremony, there will be a lowering of the colors, ringing of the Red Knights Memorial Bell, branch prayers, reading of names and a volley of arms by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department.
In 2002, a group of veterans from all branches of the military came together to honor and preserve the memory of Wicomico County’s fallen heroes. As a result, the Wicomico County War Veterans Memorial was erected at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, which is itself a living war memorial to all veterans. Flags from each service branch, along with a United States, Maryland, Wicomico County and the POW-MIA flag now proudly fly over a brick wall displaying bronze plagues with the 187 names of Wicomico County’s fallen veterans from World War II and beyond.
The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee has continued the work it began in 2002. Committee members are actively seeking information on those fallen listed on the memorial. If you have information to share about a fallen serviceperson please email Ed Hearthway at hearthwaye@aol.com.

Beat The Peak” Program To Begin At Delaware Electric Cooperative
Delaware Electric Co-op Members Asked To Be Energy Aware
Between 3 pm & 7 pm Tuesday, May 27
We are launching a “Beat The Peak” Program beginning Tuesday, May 27 in anticipation of the hottest day of this month.
We are asking all Delaware Electric Co-op members to voluntarily conserve or limit energy usage between the hours of 3 pm and 7 pm when our membership will be using the greatest amount of electricity and as a result when the Cooperative will be purchasing power from the market at extremely high prices.
During “normal” load periods we pay only pennies per kilowatt-hour for power. However, during “Peak” demand or energy periods, we can pay up to one dollar per kilowatt-hour and in turn, we must pass these higher costs on to our members which may have an impact on rates.
Tuesday, May 27 between the hours of 3 pm and 7 pm we will be asking our members to turn off all unnecessary lights or appliances that may not be needed. We would ask that our members delay major appliance usage such as dishwashers, washing machines and clothes dryers and if they can delay any hot water usage.
Other important steps to take might include closing window shades and setting thermostats higher during this “Peak” time of 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Our “Peak” message Tuesday that will be sent to the media and will be seen on our website will say “Delaware Electric Co-op is experiencing “Peak” energy usage. While loss of service is unlikely, please conserve energy at this time to help keep your rates low. Thank you”.
Together we can “Beat The Peak” by using our electricity resources wisely, but we must have our member’s help. Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated.

WANTED!
Ladies & Gentlemen, there has been a rash of stolen merchandise lately and this is one of them. I have had numerous messages lately about 4 wheelers being stolen and as a friend of mind just sold this to a gentlemen, it was stolen the following day from a locked shed.
If you have seen this 4 wheeler, please contact me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com so we can nail these SOB's before you become a victim next. Let's help these Police Officers solve these crimes.
Look, have you see someone new, maybe a neighbor, a friend, someone riding a 4 wheeler just like this one? It was stolen from a home near Sherwood in Salisbury. It's a 2003 Polaris Predator 500. Stolen Wednesday night the 21st of May.
If you know of anyone sporting around on this recently stolen Polaris, let me know and let's nail them!

Dee, Dee, Deeee!
This is how a Chicken hits a baseball. This is none other than Chicken Guru Jim Perdue at the plate hitting a baseball at the Shorebirds Stadium. Not very graceful, mind you. However, generous to a fault the Perdue's have given back to our community in a very big way and in this case Davis Ruark seemed to be taking back some vengeance against Jim as he aimed for his back and not the plate. This was a Fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center and I will follow up with more posts and fun photos later today.
Live Bands, Great Food and Skateboarding Is Coming To Downtown Salisbury
A Block Party Skate Park Fundraiser is Slated for June 7
(Salisbury, MD) Join local skateboard enthusiasts at a Block Party in downtown Salisbury on Saturday, June 7th from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. The event, taking place in the City of Salisbury parking lot between the Library and WMDT-TV, is a fundraiser to generate more funding to build a skateboard park in Salisbury. The afternoon will be filled with live bands, great food and skateboarding ramps. Admission is just $10 at the gate. All skaters will be required to wear helmets and submit a signed Release and Waiver form. Advance tickets and Release and Waiver forms will be available at the Connection Skate Shop in Salisbury beginning May 24th.
This is the second fundraiser hosted by the Skate Park Committee. In March, hundreds of skateboarding enthusiasts showed their support at an event held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. Through their combined fundraising efforts, the Skate Park Committee is working to promote the sport of skateboarding and raise the matching money required for state grant funding that may be available to build a skate park.

Bowflex for sale ----- NOT !!!!!
The following ad was in The Guide (this week):
Bowflex Ultimate Exercise Center, mint cond., 1 yr. old, asking $350 OBO. Call Al at 302-943-5817 to schedule a time to view the machine.
There's no need for the complete story, except for the ending. Yesterday after dinner, the family and I unloaded the trailer, hooked it onto the Excursion and we were Seaford-bound (from West Ocean City). We stopped by the ATM and made it in about an hour.
Once we arrive, Mrs. Al informs us that she just received a call from someone else that was interested...for more money than what we had agreed to. My smile faded...I thought it was a joke. I asked her if she had the cash from the other buyer yet, of course she said no. I told her I had the cash in my truck. She, again, said she had a better offer and will not sell to us. I told her that I spoke to her 1 hour ago and knew we were on our way. I also told her I just spent 1 hour plus at least $20 in gas to get there. She just gave me a blank look....nothing like "sorry," more like, "just leave." I left, before making more comments as I wished I would had if it weren't for my children with me, . . . stunned, upset, mad, bitter, pissed off!
NOW HERE'S THE KICKER! I offered them $800. Not $350 as posted in the ad. Al had put the bowflex in The Guide without his emotional bossy pregnant wife's consent, who wears the pants in the family very well! After striking a deal with him on Wednesday evening to pick it up following evening, Mrs. Al calls back less than 1 hour later, stating that her husband should not have placed the ad without her knowing about it. After speaking with Al 3-4 more times over the weekend, we decided on $800. I guess Mrs. Al reneged her agreement from the time I left home till the time I got in their driveway.
Is this a sign of the times in a slow economy? To sell something from under your buyer when you know your buyer is on the way, not to mention a 1 hour drive - one way?!?! Did Al really get a call with a better offer or were they just money-hungry? I could see selling to the other people if the other interested party was there, but they weren't.
Ladies and gentlemen, what could you do for me? Call them. Act interested. Make an offer. Set up an appointment, only to cancel so you waste their time like mine. I am bitter and upset. Am I over-reacting? Am I beating the dead horse? Am I just too nice because I would never do that to someone? I am very spiteful, I hope this mystery person doesn't pay up!!
By the way, Al is some big shot at Harrington Raceway & Casino. I guess he likes to gamble away money, before it's even in his hands.

More Salisbury Tax Money Circling the Drain
FLUSH
That's the sound you'll hear tonight as the Barrie Tilghman rubber stamp of Louise Smith, Gary Comegys, and Shanie Shields support over $100,000 of additional expenditures to come out of the Taxpayers' Surplus Account. As usual, Salisbury Mayor Tilghman WON'T be "taking full responsibility".
Most of this money will be appropriated because the Mayor and her crack team of bureaucrats (you know, the one's getting the big raises and title upgrades) simply forgot to budget for certain expenditures (like Retiree Healthcare). It's the $28,750 appropriating EVEN MORE tax dollars for City Attorney Paul Wilber that would shame almost anyone (except Tilghman and her rubber stamp).
Let's not forget that the city just awarded Wilber an additional $40,000 just a few weeks back. Let's also not forget that tax money going to Wilber is SO WELL SPENT!
Just last week, Louise Smith, et al had Wilber sit in on the public hearing for the budget. That was over $300 spent for NOTHING! It was a public hearing. No legislation would be considered. Since Smith doesn't allow questions to be answered from the public (unless it's to her advantage), Wilber certainly wasn't needed for that.
Now I'm sure that Tilghman and her crew will say that it was VITAL to have Wilber there. Even if it wasn't, it's only a few hundred dollars.
That's the problem with the Tilghman administration and a council majority that feels the need to approve every piece of legislation from the Mayor rather than actually legislate (in a responsible and thoughtful manner) and provide oversight. Remember, that was over $300 wasted on ONE ITEM, on ONE DAY! The hundreds add up to thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands.
To add insult to injury, look at Wilber's record as attorney for the city. In two of the highest profile cases that he's handled (supposedly for the taxpayer), Wilber lost. Not only did Wilber lose, but in one case he lost to a group of homemakers and retirees (the Old Mall Re-zoning Appeal) and in the most recent (defending abominable behavior by the city's Historic District Commission) he lost in both the Circuit and Appeals Courts to a slumlord who was reportedly appearing pro se (acting as his own attorney). That last one is reported to have cost the Salisbury taxpayers somewhere between $60,000 - $100,000.
Don't expect to read about that in the Daily Times.

The Salisbury City Council’s agenda for Tuesday night (May 27) includes yet another ordinance to amend this year’s budget to provide more legal fees for Paul Wilber’s law firm for being the “City Attorney.” If passed, it would increase their fees this year to more than $300,000 from the City’s “general fund.” Just a few weeks ago, the general fund budget was amended to provide another $40,000 for those legal fees, and apparently Wilber’s firm gets other fees through other City fund budgets.
The situation is out of control. The City needs review and revise its arrangements for legal services ASAP and before next year’s budget is passed – the Mayor’s proposed budget for next year includes even more money for Wilber’s fees.
Any additional stipend for the current fiscal year should be rejected by the Council. Let Wilber and his firm do Barrie’s bidding for free for a few weeks. He and his partners know better than to bite the hand that feeds them and their families.

Wicomico County Will Wait Till This Saturday To Honor Our Soldiers
I was going to head over to the WCYCC today at 10:00 to be there to honor our Soldiers on Memorial Day but was informed that they have delayed it till this Saturday?
Perhaps the Civic Center was too jam packed with wrestlers to hold a celebration today? You know, I'm curious to see if the Daily Times covered that in tomorrow's paper, since they didn't cover the wrestling the last time they were in town and I did?
Anyhow, I believe the ceremony will be at 10:00 AM at the Civic Center and perhaps Wicomico County will offer a Press Release this week for it?

Someone In The Know Writes In.......
"Well as someone who works the streets of Salisbury I can tell you that the gang and drug problem in Salisbury is much worse then anyone will ever tell you. There are two big problems: 1. The city and SPD admin wont admit that there is a problem. 2. The gang mentality, (no snitching). Without help from the cowards on scene this crime may not get solved. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP US!!"
Question of the Day, Tuesday 5/27
Do guns kill people or do people kill people?
There certainly is enough killing going on in Salisbury...

Lowe's, The Best Place In Town To Break The Law
Certainly there has to be weight restrictions on vehicles? I own two pickup trucks. One that could handle this kind of load and one that cannot. This vehicle cannot and is way overloaded.
However, if you're spending money and you want it loaded, Lowe's doesn't care much about sending someone down the road overloaded, as long as they get off their lot. That being said, YES, this vehicle proceeded onto the Bypass and hopefully made it to wherever they were headed?
I have seen pictures like this on the Internet before but I never saw it personally until this weekend. This is the difference between a Pro and Harry Homeowner. I'll even bet Sheriff Lewis is looking at this one and thinking, how could we have missed this one. LOL
Frank Kratovil Wants YOUR $2,300
As noted before, Queen Anne's States Attorney (and Democrat Congressional candidate) Frank Kratovil claims to be running as a moderate / conservative Democrat. Kratovil also loves to whine about where his opponent, Maryland Sen. Andy Harris (R-7), is raising his money.
Of course politics loves hypocrisy, particularly when coming from Democrats. Perhaps this explains why Kratovil is raising money at a fundraiser hosted by local lefty Mike Pretl.
Pretl, in addition to being a nice guy, possesses impeccable lefty credentials. In addition to his work with WET (our own local radical tree-huggers), Pretl is also affiliated with the "Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition" (a group whose ultimate goal is to socialize our healthcare system). While I never asked him, I wouldn't be shocked to find out that Mike is a '60's veteran of the SDS, the Rap Brown era SNCC, and / or even the Weatherman.
I will give Mike credit. He's a true believer.
Now there's certainly nothing wrong with Kratovil having a fundraiser in Wicomico County, or at Mike Pretl's home. The problem lies with Kratovil's rank hypocrisy.
He whines like a baby that Andy Harris is raising too much money from out of state. He also is trying to sell the voters of Maryland's First District that he is a "different kind of Democrat".
It is true that Harris is raising money from out of state. That money primarily comes from two sources:
That leads us to the little house on the Nanticoke on June 9th. Kratovil wants First District voters to believe that he is a died in wool, Eastern Shore conservative Democrat. Forget the fact that he's from PG County.
Why would a prominent arch-liberal like Pretl be raising money for Kratovil if his expected performance in Congress is more closely allied with my point of view than Pretl's? The answer is simple, Pretl and his liberal Democrat friends know that Kratovil would be more allied with "Little Tommy" Pelosi and the radical left wing of the Democrat party than Kratovil is willing to let on.

- Doctors - who are more likely to support one of their own for elected office (that's why Kratovil's contributor list is chock-a-block full of lawyers).
- Individuals who believe in personal liberty, low taxes, and a strong economy. Many of theses relatively small contributions are being bundled through the Club for Growth.

Donations Are Way Down
Last year Sam's Club had raised $30,250.00 in donations. This year, (so far) they have raised only $500.00. It's called a major Recession, if not a Depression Folks. It won't be long before you'll be opening your doors for neighbors and friends, certainly Family. Times are really tough and the foreclosure rate is through the roof.
I can recall less than 2 years ago Debbie Campbell single handily pleading to the Mayor and Council NOT to give back Developer Reimbursements because the City was not in a financial position it could afford to pay millions upon millions of dollars out. The Mayor felt that since they had the "borrowing power" to do so, they approved it and now the Citizens are in deeper financial strain than the City has ever been in the history of Salisbury.
The Zoo is asking for a total of $2,000,000.00 for a building that should cost less than $500,000.00 total. Don't let Alessi and this Council fool you Folks. What they want is the highest extreme of comfort at everyone else's expense, not theirs, (meaning the Zoo Commission, who is responsible for raising the $2,000,000.00 if necessary).
Public Works wants a new building for their mechanics and also for their main Office. They are bellyaching because the Fire Department got theirs, why can't they have the same? BITE ME, is what I'd tell them! Look, I certainly respect the men and women of Public Works but if we're going to get into this I want as nice as the other Department crap, they can go to hell. Now is NOT the time. Besides, they should take over the Shop just across the street from the new Fire Station that already has 5 Bays with 5 Lifts. It's perfect and I'll guarantee you it's cheap.
In the mean time, times are getting tougher and you must tell the Zoo now is not the time either. The Animal Services Building is NOT something necessary. It is something the AZA is forcing down the Zoo's throat and I say, screw the AZA. They do absolutely nothing for the Salisbury Zoo but cost the Zoo a ton of money.
Donations are down everywhere and unless the Zoo can handle raising their own money for these luxuries, stop the spending NOW!
