Come one, Come all...
Is it taxes? The war? Gun control? Wardrobe price tags (kidding)?
WHATEVER your reason, head to the polls tomorrow and vote!
The big question on everyone's mind is can McCain make it to the magic number 270? If he wins Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico, he can.
Other states to keeps our eyes peeled for... VA, FL, NC and PA. Even with a loss in a few of these big ones, if McCain can sweep the west, hes got a chance. It may be an uphill battle, but it's a battle!
See you out at the polls tomorrow... Country First!

What Are You Doing Election Day?
If you are not busy on election day and would like to get involved in the electoral process then come on out and be a part of this monumental point in history, we will direct you to the places where your help will be most utilized.
Polling places are always busy, and we can never have enough people helping out on election day.
If you have a few hours that you can volunteer, it would be greatly appreciated. The areas that still need coverage are Pocomoke Elementary School, Pocomoke High School, Stockton Fire Dept., Girdletree - First Baptist Church, Snow Hill Elementary School, Snow Hill Middle School, Newark Fire Dept. You would be needed to just say "hi" and thank folks for voting.
Wearing a McCain or Harris sticker would identify your support. We want to be sure to have signs posted as well. You may also be assigned as a poll watcher and periodically check with the Election Judge to get a count of votes. Nothing complicated, just fun!
Call Marty Pusey, Chr., Worcester County Republican Central Committee if you would like to help. Cell: 410-603-0855.
Is the Kratovil Campaign trying to mislead people?
Our office received a phone call today from a young lady who stated that she was from the Frank Kratovil Campaign. Since our daughters answer the phones, this young lady asked our daughter if Frank Kratovil could count on us for our support. Our daughter stated that Kratovil could not count on our support as we are voting for Harris. At that time the young lady thanked our daughter and told her not to forget to go out and vote and that the polls would be open tommorrow until 9:00 p.m. After the phone call was over, our daughter relayed the content of the conversation to my wife who knew right away that something wasn't right because the polls are only open untill 8:00 p.m. She asked our daughter if she was certain that the young lady had told her 9:00 p.m. and she stated that she was certain. The question I have is........was the young lady calling for the Kratovil Campaign mistaken about the time until which the polls would remain open or is there a specific unwritten plan to give anyone indicating that they are supporting another candidate incorrect information hoping that they will wait until the last minute to vote only to find the polls closed. Either way, don't let anyone mislead you! The polls will be open until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow.
Democrats Are So Desperate They're Breaking The Law
You can't place yard signs on a highway. The Democratic Headquarters is not far from the location they're placings illegal signs on. First they deface Republican Signs and now they're placing illegal signs on our roadways. Come on people, act like you know the law and start acting respectable. People that see this are only going to become upset and vote the other way because they're seeing what the Democratic Party is capable of. I'm sure Mr. Kratovil wouldn't appreciate having his sign ILLEGALLY placed there.
WBOC Goes Where The Winners Are
Why is WBOC at the Republican Headquarters? Because they know they can get a one on one interview with Andy Harris. Oh, they can go to the Democratic Headquarters and maybe they'll get a one on one with Jim Ireton or Kratovill's Wife but there's a FAT CHANCE they'll ever get the man who claims he's all about the Eastern Shore but never shows up here.
I think by now everyone has come to learn that Andy Harris is all about the Eastern Shore and has gone through every effort to prove he'll represent us far better than the other mystery man.
Will YOU Be Getting A Personal Telephone Call From Andy Harris?
If you live in Wicomico County, you just might. Andy Harris is at the Republican Headquarters ONCE AGAIN doing what a great Candidate should do. He's making phone calls asking for your support. Later this evening he'll once again be out on the street waving signs as well. If you have the time, stop by the Headquarters and say hello. I'm confident that if you have ANY questions you'd like to ask him before you go out and vote tomorrow, he'd be more than happy to answer them for you.
Everyone Must Be REALLY Interested In Politics Today!
We are well on our way to easily breaking a record day today on Salisbury News. You can make all the phone calls you want, there's nothing better than having people stop by in the thousands and get their accurate political information right here on Salisbury News. Boy, I'll bet Andy Harris is really pleased he worked with Salisbury News to get his message out.
Blogs are certainly the future, unless your like Duvall where you only get a hundred hits a day. I can't wait until the Salisbury Elections come about. What's Comegys going to do? Hey, won't that be funny to watch Duvall support Gary Comegys just because Duvall hates me so much. Kind of like when he supported Andy Harris until Andy chose to use Salisbury News to spread his message.
Rumor on the street today Folks is, Brad Gillis is going to also throw in his hat into the Mayoral Race. Heck, I've even been getting e-mails and telephone calls from Mike Dunn, of all people. He wanted to meet with me one on one and I told him I wasn't interested.
The Mayor's Office is desperately trying to get through to me because they know that without Salisbury News they don't have a chance. Too bad, too sad.

Circuit City Isn't Going To Make It
It's highly doubtful Circuit City will make it very far into 2009 without filing Chapter 11. Creditors are cutting them off and competitors like Best Buy, WalMart and CostCo are saying they're going to cut their prices to the bone to get whatever store traffic is available in a deep recession. They are closing 155 stores right away.
Be very careful what you buy there from here on out Folks.

Salisbury News Gets Invited To Washington DC On Election Night
"Do you have any interest in coming to DC to liveblog election night with a major national news organization and possibly some international ones as well?
David Mastio
Editor"
"Here's the basic info:
From time to time the MBA is offered interesting opportunities for its members and today we have another.
NPR will convert its conference center into a filing center for international broadcasters. They've done that for the past few elections. This year they are setting aside 30 spots for bloggers. They will provide wifi, some projection screens for watching the results come in, and "lots of free food and drink". They will encourage NPR reporters to visit with the bloggers if they have some time available, and will probably take the bloggers up in small groups to visit the broadcast command center in Studio 4A, where all of their on-air activities will be taking place. It will be an all-night event - probably 6pm to 4am - and several digital news producers will probably be embedded in the room with them so bloggers can find out about NPR's election calls as we make them.
Once I have your cell number, I can pass that on to NPR with your blog url and email address and we'll see if we can get you in.
David Mastio
Editor"
While slots are limited, (obviously) Salisbury News will not head to Washington and cover this event live. Instead, Salisbury News will cover the Local Elections instead. We were honored to be chosen and welcome such an opportunity in the future. I think everyone can tell just how involved we have been in the 1st Congressional District Race and feel it is important to follow that through to the end. We will update everyone soon and let you know how and when we will do so.
Thank You David for the offer.

New Credit Card Scam
Snopes.com says this is true. See this site - http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/creditcard.asp
This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want.
Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself.
One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA', and I was called on Thursday from 'Master Card'. The scam works like this: Caller: 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona ?'
When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?'
You say 'yes'. The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security.'
You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me to read it again?'
Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?' After you say No, the caller then thanks you and states, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do, and hangs up.
You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card.
Long story - short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.
What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a 'Jason Richardson of Master Card' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.
Please pass this on to all your family and friends. By informing each other, we protect each other.

The Harris Campaign Obviously Has More Support
Yeah, you might see some people coming out of the wood work tomorrow for the Kratovil Campaign but you have to admit, it's too late and a last minute cheering squad just won't cut it.
The Harris Campaign has been out in Wicomico County for months on end now showing their support for the McCain/Palin/Harris Campaigns, all the while there were ton of people on the phones making calls as well.
I don't know about you but I'm excited for Tuesday to come and get all of this election crap behind us. You won't see and haven't seen any of this kind of activity from the Kratovil Campaign. GO ANDY!
I've got to tip my hat to Mark and Hala McIver for all their support in coordinating all of this support for the Harris Campaign. Go by the Republican Headquarters today and watch these people show off how Grass Roots really works.
Have You Read Your Ballot Yet?
I received my voter information the other day and read through to discover two things that I previously wasn't 100% clear on.
Question 1:
This question is asking you the citizens of Maryland to allow early voting.
I believe that if we vote to have this instituted we are only asking for trouble. Trouble like they have seen in 14 different states that do allow it.
Election Day is election day period.
If you are in the service, or in a long term care facility, then I believe you should be qualified for an absentee ballot, but these should be the only reasons that one would qualify.
I have personally seen the corruption of absentee ballots, and over the last few weeks the corruptive ability of these ballots has been witnessed by the rest of the country.
Look the US goes into other countries to ensure that they have fair elections.
There is no reason why we can't conduct one of our own.
I would actually rather see the kind of voting that we provide for other countries for this election, because I am not so sure that it will be anywhere near accurate.
In other countries the if you want to vote with assistance of the US, you go to the polling place and stick your finger in cup of ink that doesn't come off for 72 hours, and your seal your vote with your finger print. No ID, no provisional ballots, no BS. You either have the ink on your finger or you don't and they can also use the blue light on it to see if there is any residue.
It is my personal opinion that all of the states that are in question this year should be polled in this very manner. If not, I believe that not one American will be satified with the outcome of the election, no matter who wins.
Question 2:
Slot machines. What I don't like about this question is the states ability to decide what regions receive them and what regions don't.
I believe in the free market and if a businessman feels he could make a good business in an area, I don't think it is up to the state to decide. I believe it is up to the community where he wishes to locate.
Look, Maryland has ZERO natural resources for exploitation, and there is nothing to support the huge bureaucracy that we know as our state. They are going to look endlessly for ways to support themselves, because they certainly never consider shrinking their size. The state always packages anything controversial by saying the proceeds will go to the kids, but it isn't long before they outgrow the proceeds and profits from any program they have set up and they look for something else.
I remember as a child when casino's lined the 301 corridor in Charles County. Charles was prosperous and everyone benefited from the casino's. Names that you see in Vegas lined the corridor, the Sands, the Desert Inn, the Stardust, the Flamingo, but they are long gone.
After they were done away with it took nearly 30 years for Charles to recover. The casino's sat empty and tumbleweeds blew across the highway. Now that it has recovered it is quickly going into another recession as the casino replacements have been retail outlets that are now closing up almost as quickly.
What would happen to Pocomoke City, if a River Boat Casino were allowed to tie up at our dock?
I personally believe, that it would give the downtown the economic shot that it needs. With a casino, there would be a reason to have outlets for all the other creature comforts people want and need, all without costing the town or the state a dime.
People are going to gamble and do things that aren't necessarily the best thing for them, there is no reason to send the money to DE when we can have it here.
In closing I don't mind the slots, I mind the state interference.

Salisbury News Endorses Andy Harris For Congress
Andy Harris for Congress
On Tuesday we all have an opportunity to participate in one of our most basic freedoms – the right to vote. In Maryland's First Congressional District, the choice of who we should vote for is clear – Andy Harris.
Harris personifies what our founders envisioned when our Founding Fathers were writing the Constitution. He is a true citizen legislator. A physician and professor at Johns Hopkins, Harris didn't need to get involved in partisan politics. A Commander in the Navy medical corps, “service” wasn't an issue. He already served his country – well. Andy Harris saw a need in the Maryland Senate. The district where he had lived for twenty years was being represented by a man who reflected neither Harris' values nor the values of a majority of his fellow citizens. Rather than sitting idly by and complaining, Harris tackled the tough task of unseating an incumbent from his own party.
As Rep. Wayne Gilchrest continued to exhibit, more and more, his natural liberal tendencies, Harris saw the necessity of challenging an 18 year incumbent. Attacked and vilified, Harris never wavered in his stance on the key issues facing Maryland's First District, and America.
Whether it is lower taxes to encourage job creation or fighting bureaucracy to promote economic growth, Harris has stood firm on economic principles. Whether it is his commitment to protecting innocent life or standing up for the traditional family, Harris reflects the values of the vast majority of voters in the First District. Attacked by every environmentalist group in Maryland, Harris continues to stand firm for true energy independence – including increased domestic supply through offshore drilling. While we have never heard Harris evoke the sainted names of Reagan and Goldwater, Harris' principles and actions prove that he is one of a few genuine heirs to their legacy.
His opponent, Queen Anne's State's Attorney Frank Kratovil fails on most these broad issues. While claiming to be “independent”, Kratovil panders to the majority of First District voters on myriad issues. However as the campaign moves towards its climax, Kratovil has been forced to admit to his liberal proclivities in order to guarantee votes from the leftward fringe of this district.
Immediately before the election, Kratovil now owns up (at least to some voters) to being part of “TEAM OBAMA”. He has promoted a scheme for the government takeover of our health care system – currently the finest in the world. Frank Kratovil's vision is one of rationing and standing on queue for even the most basic services. Kratovil is on board the Obama train for “Spreading the Wealth” - an economic disaster in the making.
Kratovil's stance on issues affecting the traditional family is also highly questionable. Kratovil is on record as supporting same-sex marriage (calling it “civil union”), a stance far outside the mainstream with First District voters. His stance on other social issues more closely reflect the views of Nancy Pelosi than those of the hard working, church going people of the Eastern Shore.
Worse than arguments over basic philosophy and policy is Kratovil's ability to flip-flop on issues at will. While we may not agree with Harris on every issue, he has proven to be a man of his word. When he makes a commitment, he appears to keep it. In contrast, Kratovil doesn't hesitate from telling a group of Democrat partisans that he supports an issues such as the government's trillion dollar bail-out package, while telling a group of non-partisans that he is opposed to the scheme. TRUST is a key issue with this candidate.
Kratovil has based his entire campaign on two tag lines - “Independent” and “Tough Prosecutor”. One week before the election it was revealed that Kratovil was taking campaign contributions from defense attorneys whose clients Kratovil was charged with prosecuting. As for independence, his allegiance to “TEAM OBAMA”, and all that entails, makes the question of his “Independence” questionable at best.
Oddly, some of the very votes that Kratovil has used to attack Harris prove Harris' independence and commitment to stand on principle rather than simple political expedience or allegiance to party. While we are sure that we will not agree with every vote made by Congressman Harris, we are confident that he will represent the First District first, and foremost. Just as importantly, we are confident that a Congressman Harris will always put principle before partisanship and his values before expediency.
Andy Harris is who we need during these economically uncertain and morally ambiguous times.

Kratovil Joins Team Obama ...
... Where's the "Independence" Frank?
While Frank Kratovil is mailing GOP, moderate Democrat and independent households telling them that he"s "Independent" and a "Tough Prosecutor", this is what's being distributed to heavily Democrat, primarily African-American neighborhoods on the Lower Shore:
Frank Kratovil has signed up for TEAM OBAMA! Was there ever any doubt?
Kratovil has publicly endorsed Obama's "tax plan" which isn't tax cuts as much as it is taking from those that pay taxes and redistributing it to those that don't.
Kratovil promises "Universal Health Care" - a nice euphemism for health care rationing and a government takeover of another 13+% of the nations GDP.
Kratovil promises to end "Big Oil's Free Ride" - another leftist euphemism for confiscating the profits of corporations which employ hundreds of thousands of Americans. If you thought $4.00 / gallon gas was tough, wait until it rises from its current, relatively low levels to $6, or $8, per gallon.
I have to give Frank and his masters at the DCCC credit. While he's been telling the majority of us that he's a "Tough Prosecutor" - while taking money from the attorney of a child molester who is now free to attack our children again - Kratovil is finally starting to tell the truth (if only to a portion of voters).
Frank Kratovil -

Wicomico County Doctors Endorse Andy Harris For Congress
By Drs. John Bartkovich and Vince Perrotta • November 2, 2008
On Thursday, we read with great dismay as a few local doctors misrepresented the views of Maryland Sen. Andy Harris and claimed Democrat Frank Kratovil was the better candidate when it comes to health care. Their reasoning was flawed and facts were misrepresented. There is no question Kratovil's plans for our health care system would be detrimental to patients, and the system at large.
Harris is not only a colleague, he knows a system of socialized medicine would spell the end of America's leadership in health care. As physicians, we know the economic hardship faced by our patients due to the rising cost of health care. Two primary factors in this continual escalation are endless, usually baseless, litigation by trial lawyers and state mandates on health insurers.
We need only look to see where trial lawyers are throwing their money in this election -- at Frank Kratovil -- to know doctors and their patients will receive no relief from unnecessary tests and procedures if Kratovil is elected to Congress. More litigation will only increase the cost of health care, while contributing nothing to the health of our patients.
We read baseless criticism of Harris' votes in the Maryland legislature. It is true Harris voted against mandating certain tests.
Why? The simple fact is almost every health insurer already covers these routine and necessary tests. However, every time the state mandates changes to coverage, the cost of health insurance rises. Why cause unnecessary cost increases when we are already receiving these benefits?
We read the ridiculous claims that America has a nearly Third World health care system. Do any of us really believe this? In the countries Kratovil and his supporters believe we should emulate, rationing of care is the norm. Patient choice has long gone by the wayside.
We are blessed with fine local hospitals. Just a short drive down the road we have Johns Hopkins, regarded as the finest medical facility in the world, and where Harris practices and teaches our next generation of physicians. When people think of excellence in health care, they think of great institutions like Hopkins, the Mayo Clinic, Sloan-Kettering, and the Cleveland Clinic. When was the last time you heard someone say they wanted to travel to Montreal or Berlin for top-flight medical care?
We cannot in good conscience advocate a system that strips away choice from our patients, rations their access to care and all but guarantees the systematic change of the world's leading health care system into a maze of bureaucracy and waiting lines. Why do a few of our colleagues?
We are forced to question their motives. While there is no question patient care would suffer under the schemes advocated by Kratovil, the doctors signing Thursday's op-ed are in a position to benefit from a system of socialized medicine. Perhaps some of us would benefit. That is not why we became doctors.
Our patients are and will continue to be our primary concern. That is why we firmly believe Harris will best serve us, our patients, our community and our nation as congressman.
Bartkovich and Perrotta write on behalf of the following doctors who are Wicomico County residents: Jason Arrington, Emerson Conrad, Ben Tacheron, Un Chin, Brion McCutcheon, David Sechler, Chris Pellegrino, David Schalk, Tom Brandon, Jim Skolka, Tom Kelly, Joseph Swartz, John Reilly, John Giustozzi, Nancy Tustin, Marvin Nielsen and Andrew Vennos.

Great Job Joe
"Hey Joe,
Just wanted to say what a great job you and you site are doing to shake up the region. I believe you are what our Founding Fathers were describing you when they formed the Constitution. A single man taking on the establishment. You would be shocked that this is coming from a registered Democrat who's voting for Obama and Andy Harris. I can't vote for Kratovil since Gordy is supporting him. Ever since the whole gas issue after Hurricane Katrina has really soured me on Gordy."

Kratovil Gas Cost 12 Cents More Per Gallon Now
If we were to use Bubba's Math on how far apart these two gas stations are from one and other they're almost next door to each other. A vote for Frank Kratovil is a vote for higher gas prices. Pictures don't lie. I should add, there are now several local Gas Stations selling gas at $2.17 a gallon. Can you spell, gouge?
Sheriff Mike Lewis
"Mr. Albero,
The residents in the area of Salisbury University have had their share of experiences, both good and bad with students. The usual loud parties and debris left on the neighborhood lawns are a weekly experience. Recently there has been a dramatic increase in vandalism and theft of every description. Most of the incidents are after midnight and never witnessed since hard working families are asleep. The frustration levels are extremely high and the problem is getting worse.
On Saturday afternoon a dark colored SUV cruised down the street and came to a stop. The driver was none other than Sheriff Mike Lewis himself and in uniform. He introduced himself and asked what types of problems the neighborhood residents had been experiencing on Loblolly Lane and Taney Ave. He was given a long list of the problems and the a good idea of those responsible. Sheriff Lewis went right to work on the problems and began knocking on doors of two of the problem houses in the neighborhood. It didn't take long for him to observe the evidence of criminal behavior and several Deputies soon arrived. Numerous stolen items were seen being removed from the home, such as street signs, City barricades and other public property. This came as no surprise to local residents.
I would like to commend the great work of Sheriff Lewis and his Deputies. Where else would you see the head of any police agency patrolling and speaking to residents about a problem on Saturday afternoon. With Sheriff Mike Lewis it is the norm. He is proactive and dedicated to the citizens of Wicomico County. In less than an hour he had gathered information and tackled the problem head on. I'm sure his visit will leave a lasting impression on the college students he spoke to. He assured me that he and his men would keep a watchful eye on the neighborhood. Thanks again Sheriff Lewis for the fantastic job that your doing.
College Area Resident"
So everyone knows, I know just the day before this happened, a citizen who had been contacting Sheriff Lewis regularly made that one final call where he knew things were just about to go down and Sheriff Lewis immediately left his Office in pursuit to the scene in which numerous drug deals were going down. Once the suspect saw Sheriff Lewis' vehicle approaching, he knew it was over. Sheriff Lewis fully expected the suspect to run but he knew he was nailed and Sheriff Lewis found narcotics on his person. After asking his parent to search the residence and they approved, Sheriff Lewis found additional drugs and with any luck we'll have a Press Release soon on that case as well.
Sheriff Lewis AND the entire Wicomico County Sheriff's Office are doing PROACTIVE Police work. Now I'm NOT knocking the SPD, because they have a completely different leader and while the SPD would LOVE to do this same kind of work, Chiefy Webster refuses to allow it to take place because their numbers would go through the roof, making crime look a lot closer to what it REALLY is. Webster SUCKS and is a disgrace to the Badge. Thank You Sheriff Lewis. You're not only an example of what is right, you're setting a bar in which other Officers are extremely proud to be a part of.

The Price Of The Daily Times Skyrockets Upwards
Even for Home Deliveries, the price of a daily paper is .41 cents per day and $1.75 for a Sunday Delivery!
Man am I glad I dumped that rag of a Newspaper. Do these people actually believe with the Blogs out there today that people will continue to support that Paper when the news is several days old and absolutely inaccurate. I mean, one day one Reporter writes one article and days later another Reporter changes the article, both saying two completely different things.
I hate to see what the new price at the News Stand is! They're probably asking $2.50 for a Sunday Paper. Remember Folks, November 4th is the kill date for the Daily Times. It is my understanding that most local Republicans will be dumping their subscriptions to the rag on that date. Can't say as I blame them. Did you see how thin the Sunday paper was too? The way I see it is, if I don't buy the Sunday Paper, I'll not see the sale ads and be lead into the stores to buy items. If I stay away from those ads, I'll stay away from extra trips for things I really don't need anyway. I give the Daily Times less than a year and they'll close their doors. That is, unless Gannet continues to fund a Newspaper not making any money. You'll see.
Barrie Tilghman’s October Surprise
Longer Building Moratorium in the North End of Salisbury.
Earlier this year the City imposed a partial freeze on building permits because the capacity of the sewer system “lift station” (pumps) located at the DP&L property on Route 13 was almost maxed out. That came as no surprise to the mayor and her administration – they knew for at least several years that the development occurring in that area was rapidly reaching the lift station’s limit, but had not addressed the matter.
A contract for expedited engineering services to build an enlarged lift station was rushed thru and awarded to the firm George, Miles & Buhr, which recently advised the City that work will require an even longer period and $500,000 more construction cost than estimated. But that’s only the minor shock, it seems. The engineering study has determined that the increased volume of sewage to be pumped thru the larger capacity lift station will be too great for the “downstream” sewer mains to handle. There is no estimate of the additional cost and further delay to upgrade those mains, which are located in Northwood Drive and North Division Street.
These latest disclosures by the mayor will be discussed at today’s work session of the Salisbury City Council in Room 306 of the Government Office Building, along with the cost of infrastructure work that developers promised but have have failed to do.

Thank You All
I just want to thank all of you for your educational e-mails over the past year. I am totally screwed up now and have little chance of recovery.
I no longer open a public bathroom door without using a paper towel or have them put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel.
I can't use the remote in a hotel room because I don't know what the last person was doing while flipping through the adult movie channels.
I can't sit down on the hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed.
I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking ones nose (although cell phone usage may be taking the number one spot).
Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats I have consumed over the years.
I can't touch any woman's purse for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public bathroom.
I MUST SEND MY SPECIAL THANKS to whoever sent me the one about poop in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing.
ALSO, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.
I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.
I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.
I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's Novena has granted my every wish.
I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.
I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.
THANKS TO YOU I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
BECAUSE OF YOUR CONCERN, I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer can buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm pumping gas.
I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put 'Under God' on their cans.
I no longer use Saran Wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.
AND THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face... disfiguring me for life.
I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS.
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.
I no longer receive packages from UPS or Fed Ex since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise.
I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army.
I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan .
I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.
THANKS TO YOU I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my butt.
AND THANKS TO YOUR GREAT ADVICE I can't ever pick up $5.00 dropped in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.
I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies!
I can't do any gardening because I'm afraid I'll get bitten by the brown recluse and my hand will fall off.
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician . .
Oh, by the way.....
A German scientist from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their e-mail with their hand on the mouse.
Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.

Woman Physically & Verbally Attacked At Her Own Home IN Fruitland
"Joe,
I wanted you to hear this from me first. This evening two juveniles were making lots of noise in my front yard. From what I saw from my front door it looked like one was beating the other one up. I went out on my front porch making sure I had my phone and both dogs with me. I told them they'd have to get out of my yard. This started a whole new problem. Both of them verbally attacked me. I have never in my life been called the things these two kids called me. When I told them I had called the police they laughed about it telling me to go ahead that they wouldn't do anything. Before I knew it the taller one and I were in a shouting match which I hadn't noticed how close he was getting to the porch. I ended up getting hit in the face. Honestly it shocked me more than I felt it.
Fruitland PD caught up with both of them eight houses up from me. The one who hit me was already wanted for another issue. I have a year and a day to decide if I want to press charges. I have no idea what I will do. The one thing I do want are restraining orders on both boys. This is the first time I have ever felt uncomfortable living alone in my own home. I guess I'm still in a stage of shock because I always get along with kids. This boy actually hit a woman in a wheelchair. Lets face it Joe, between the wheelchair and my dwarfism I'm not exactly a threat to anyone."
Perhaps everyone should share their opinion as to what this woman should do to these two young men.
