It was the middle of the summer in 1985 when Lea Thompson and her boyfriend went to the famous Cinerama Dome theater in Hollywood to see what was quickly becoming the movie of the season, then the year and ultimately the decade.
When Thompson was cast in the Steven Spielberg production of "Back to the Future" she knew it was a big deal, but it wasn't until that moment that the she realized just how huge the movie was.
"They took us through the backdoor and the theater was completely full and we had to stand," she remembered.
Standing in the darkened movie theater, Thompson, who was 24 at the time, watched as members of the audience reacted to what was on the screen.
"I could see how it played and I could tell that people were just so with it," she said. "You could tell that people had already seen it a couple of times."
Three decades after the film's release, it continues to have an impact.
Friday, Thompson will be at the Maryland Live casino in Hanover as part of promotion celebrating the film's 30th anniversary. She will be on hand to give away a custom-built replica of the film's DeLorean DMC-12 time machine.

Sen. Simonaires want good Samaritan legislation for children locked in cars
The Simonaire legislative duo has requested a bill be drafted to protect people from civil liability when damaging a motor vehicle to save a trapped child.
"With sweltering summer temperatures, no one is safe inside an unattended vehicle, especially a child," Sen. Bryan Simonaire, R-Pasadena, said in a statement. "Providing immunity to everyday concerned citizens will allow fast acting responses to a dangerous situation."
Simonaire and his daughter, Del. Meagan Simonaire, R-Pasadena, are the first father/daughter duo to serve in the legislature at the same time.

POLLS: 'The Trump steamroller' continues to crush GOP rivals — even in their own states
Polls continue to shower good news on real-estate mogul Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
A Tuesday StPetePolls.org survey even found Trump leading two of his GOP rivals — in their home state of Florida.
The poll found Trump with 26% of the vote among Republican primary voters in the state, compared to 20% for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and roughly 10% for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida). Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), with 12%, also led Rubio.
Both SaintPetersBlog and the Drudge Report labeled it a "SHOCK POLL."
Trump reportedly reacted to the poll by telling Breitbart News, "I have always loved Florida, what a great honor."

A Letter To The President
Dear Mr. President,
Where are you? As I sit here at 4:30 in the morning with my-seven-year-old daughter who hasn't slept since our City was attacked by a terrorist who grew up here and called it "Home" for 24 years of his Muslim life..
Where are you? As I sit here at 4:30 in the morning with my-seven-year-old daughter who hasn't slept since our City was attacked by a terrorist who grew up here and called it "Home" for 24 years of his Muslim life..
Where were you? When the families of our five brave men who lost their lives that day were informed of the dreadful news, did they receive a call from you, our concerned, caring, president? I beg to differ. Instead you gave a nine-minute very insincere apology about what occurred in Chattanooga Tennessee. From my heart Mr. President, as a Native Chattanoogan, you have no right to even utter the words of my hometown. When the 9 Church members were
killed in Charleston, why you made no hesitation to scurry there, even rush behind a pulpit even preach a funeral! Then you took it upon yourself to sing the old hymn "Amazing Grace" trying so hard to bring God's spirit into that place and thru the TV screen. Let me be the first poor single mother to tell you Mr. President you didn't fool me. There was no God in your "Presentation", no God in that "Speech" that your overpaid blind-to-your- B.S. Muslim Personal Assistant prepared for you. No no no Mr. President, you see We The People are fed up with you. Instead of being an Honorable
President, and ordering ALL flags at half mass, you didn't order any.
Instead of trying to find out what this idiot had been doing to plan this attack all these months, you go on VACATION. WE SEE where your priorities lie, we see that you don't care these men protected your family as well.

Helping family and friends: The best ways to make gifts, loans
WASHINGTON — At some point in your life, you may decide to give or loan money, a car or other property to a loved one and/or friend.
Whether you want to make a gift or a loan, there are a few things that will help you to do it correctly and avoid problems down the road with the IRS.
Making a gift:
A gift can be made in the form of cash or other property. Planning to give your adult son $10,000, or your nephew a new car? Those are both considered gifts.
But gifts also include a sale or exchange of property for less than its fair market value. In either event, if you give a gift to someone who is not your dependent, there are rules and limits that you need to know to handle the gift correctly.

Ex-Navy SEAL alleges anti-gay bullying by CIA workers
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A former Navy SEAL has filed an internal complaint alleging the CIA bullied him for being gay during a work assignment in June in Afghanistan.
Brett Jones said he filed the complaint last week against the federal agency, saying he was forced to endure homophobic slurs and other inappropriate comments on June 11 in Afghanistan as a group of contractors and civil servants in the CIA’s Global Response Staff watched news of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage.
He also said he was abandoned and forced to walk in 120-degree temperatures without water while he worked there as a CIA contractor.
Jones, the author of “Pride: The Story of the First Openly Gay Navy SEAL,” said he feared for his safety and returned home early from Afghanistan. He told his story to ABC and the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Mia Farrow puts lion dentist's address on Twitter, faces backlash
Mia Farrow took some Twitter heat Wednesday for joining other angry social media posters and blasting out the business address of the dentist who killed the beloved lion Cecil in Zimbabwe.
Some apparently thought the actress had listed Walter Palmer's home address in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, calling for her verified Twitter account to be suspended under the site's terms of service.
A Twitter spokesman said the company does not comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons. He directed The Associated Press to official Twitter rules and policies that allow wiggle room on disciplinary action when information was previously posted or displayed elsewhere on the Internet prior to being put on Twitter.

The Missing Hillary Emails No One Can Explain
There is a two-month gap in Hillary Clinton’s emails that coincides with violence in Libya and the employment status of a top Clinton aide, Huma Abedin.
Among the approximately 2,000 emails released by the State Department from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private account, there is a conspicuous two-month gap. So far, there are no emails between Clinton and her State Department staff during May and June 2012, a period of escalating violence in Libya leading up to the September 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.
A State Department spokesman told The Daily Beast that for the year 2012, only those emails related to the security of the consulate or to the U.S. diplomatic presence in Libya were made public and turned over to a House committee investigating the fatal Benghazi assault. But if that’s true, then neither Clinton nor her staff communicated via email about the escalating dangers in Libya during those two crucial months. There were three attacks during that two-month period, including one that targeted the consulate. (Of course, email isn’t the only or even the preferred way State Department officials communicate about sensitive issues—especially if one of those officials is using a private server ill equipped to handle classified information.)
That two-month period also coincides with a senior Clinton aide obtaining a special exemption that allowed her to work both as a staff member to the secretary and in a private capacity for Clinton and her husband’s foundation. The Associated Press has sued to obtain emails from Clinton’s account about the aide, Huma Abedin. So far, the State Department has rebuffed those efforts. Nor, understandibly, did Foggy Bottom turn over any emails about Abedin’s employment status to the Benghazi Committee, which asked only for Libya-related material.

VIDEO: PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOCTOR ON HOW TO AVOID GETTING CAUGHT SELLING BABY PARTS
The latest video released today shows Dr. Savita Ginde of Planned Parenthood talking to buyers from a fictitious company about how to avoid the appearance of violating federal law against selling fetal body parts that are the result of abortion. Ginde talks specifically about how to avoid getting caught.
“Because if you have someone in a really anti- state that’s going to be doing this for you, they’re probably going to get caught,” she says.
Ginde talks about how she’s very confident that Planned Parenthood lawyers had worked out the details on how not to get caught. “We talked to him in the beginning, you know, we were like, ‘we don’t want to get called on,’ you know, ‘selling fetal parts across states.’ I’m confident that our legal will make sure that we are not put in that situation.”

Rep. Mark Meadows: From 'Fat Nerd' to 'Rock-Ribbed' Boehner Opponent
North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, a conservative Republican who has introduced a procedural move to try and unseat House Speaker John Boehner from his post, has gained a lot of confidence since his self-described days as a "fat nerd" during high school in Tampa Bay, Florida.
"It’s tough. When you grow up as a fat kid, everybody makes fun of you, and all you want to do is fit in," the second-term congressman told the Smoky Mountain News in 2012. "When you run for office, people say stuff. It, at times, can step on pains. We just want to like everyone and be liked."
The evangelical Christian and real estate developer from western North Carolina is known around Washington for being "collegial" with both sides of the aisle, though Politico reports that Meadows is also a "rock-ribbed conservative" with a rebellious streak.
"He’s among the cadre of conservatives who earlier this year launched the House Freedom Caucus, which has been a hotbed for scheming against leadership," according to Politico. "He voted against Boehner for speaker on the House floor in January — one of 25 Republicans to do so. He also cast one of just 34 Republican votes against a pivotal procedural move on trade.
In June, Meadows was briefly removed from his chairmanship as retaliation for opposing a procedural trade vote.
Meadows has couched his move to unseat Boehner, which he initiated Tuesday, as a way to spark a "family discussion" within the GOP "about how the House is run," according to Politico. Punishing members who don’t tow the party line is unacceptable, he said.

Governor Larry Hogan Announces Closure of Baltimore City Detention Center
Addresses Men's Detention Center's Long History of Corruption, Appalling Conditions, and Waste of Tax Dollars
ANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the notorious Baltimore City Detention Center (BCDC) - Men's Detention Center will close immediately, bringing to an end the facility’s long history of corruption, appalling conditions, and waste of tax dollars. The closure of the Men’s Detention Center will dramatically improve staff, detainee, and public safety conditions, while also saving Maryland taxpayers millions of dollars per year.
“For years, Maryland taxpayers were unwittingly underwriting a vast criminal enterprise run by gang members and corrupt public servants," said Governor Hogan. "Ignoring it was irresponsible, and one of the biggest failures in leadership in Maryland history. That is why today, I have instructed Secretary Moyer to immediately shut down the Men's Baltimore Detention Center."
The Baltimore City Detention Center made national and international headlines in 2013 when it was revealed that a number of employees at the state-run facility had allegedly collaborated with a Baltimore jail gang, the Black Guerrilla Family, to smuggle drugs, cellphones, and other banned items into the jail. It was also discovered that gang members were using contraband and intimidation to orchestrate crimes inside and outside jail walls. More than 40 people were indicted, and last February, five were convicted in this massive jailhouse corruption scheme.

Larry Hogan, Maryland governor, to close Baltimore City Detention Center
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said he plans to immediately close a Baltimore jail where corruption was so bad just two years ago that inmates were said to run the facility.
“This facility is done. We will not be using it again,” Mr. Hogan said Thursday at a press conference held outside the Baltimore City Detention Center.
The 156-year-old jail houses hundreds of inmates awaiting trial or serving short sentences and the governor said those individuals would be transferred shortly to other area facilities. He declined to say exactly where or when the inmates would be moved for security reasons.

The Colossal Hoax Of Organic Agriculture
Consumers of organic foods are getting both more and less than they bargained for. On both counts, it’s not good.
Many people who pay the huge premium—often more than a hundred percent–for organic foods do so because they’re afraid of pesticides. If that’s their rationale, they misunderstand the nuances of organic agriculture. Although it’s true that synthetic chemical pesticides are generally prohibited, there is a lengthy list of exceptions listed in the Organic Foods Production Act, while most “natural” ones are permitted. However, “organic” pesticides can be toxic. As evolutionary biologist Christie Wilcox explained in a 2012 Scientific American article (“Are lower pesticide residues a good reason to buy organic? Probably not.”): “Organic pesticides pose the same health risks as non-organic ones.”

This Country Just Made It Legal For Cops to Keep 70% of All the Traffic Fines They Collect
Officials do not foresee a rash of spurious fines being handed out as a consequence
Drivers in Cambodia have a lot to contend with: cavernous potholes, weaving motorcycles kicking up clouds of choking dust and noodle hawkers trundling down the “fast” lane. Now motorists may find their pockets as ravaged as their nerves, after officials announced a fivefold bump in traffic fines and gave permission for issuing officers to keep 70% of all cash collected.
The new rules, coming into force in January, are an attempt to curb corruption, reports the Phnom Penh Post. Currently, traffic cops keep half of much smaller penalties, meaning that many supplement their meager salaries by soliciting bribes.
The current $1.25 official penalty for not wearing a car seat belt, for example, will rise to $6.25, with the officer allowed to keep $4.38. Of the remaining 30%, some 25% will go to the station where the officer is based, with the final 5% sent to the Ministry of Finance.

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. — Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Chincoteague helped enforced the safety zone Wednesday at the 90th Annual Pony Swim between Assateague and Chincoteague islands off Virginia's Eastern Shore.
Thousands of spectators gathered for the event both on shore and on the water.
The Station Chincoteague crews used the 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boat for the event.

Gold Is Only Going to Get Worse
The problem for gold isn’t just that prices are dropping. For many, the metal also has lost its charisma.
Sentiment means a lot in the bullion market, where only about 60 percent of what gets mined or recycled each year is used in jewelry and industrial applications. The rest is sold as coins or bars, so when demand from investors dries up, there can be painful consequences for the bulls who remain.
Prices will drop to $984 an ounce before January, according to the average estimate in a Bloomberg News survey of 16 analysts and traders. That would be the lowest since 2009 and a 10 percent retreat from Tuesday’s settlement. Speculators are shorting the metal for the first time since U.S. government data began in 2006, and holders of exchange-traded products are selling at the fastest pace in two years.

Billions in Unfinished Business as Congress Heads Out for Vacation
Although the new Republican-dominated Congress can point to a number of bipartisan successes – including new fast-track Pacific Rim trade legislation and a long-overdue revision to Medicare’s reimbursement policies for doctors – a shocking array of must-pass fiscal and budget legislation will remain while lawmakers celebrate the month-long August holiday.
“Congress is not getting its job done because it’s too polarized and its ordinary processes have broken down,” said Alice Rivlin, a former director of the Congressional Budget Office and a senior economist at the Brookings Institution. “There have been lots of promises [of an improved legislative system] but it’s not happening. It’s very discouraging.”

Unlike Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders Never Says, 'When I Become President, I Will Answer Your Question'
One attribute shared by Ronald Reagan and Barrack Obama is the ability to communicate a message. While their messages differ politically, the speeches of both two-term presidents seem to hit the core of what voters were looking for during their respective eras. When a person is straightforward and forthright in their words, even a xenophobic and nativist New York billionaire can reach the hearts and minds of his constituency. After so long of being forced to hear vapid talking points and carefully crafted political rhetoric, Americans yearn for honesty and clarity in leadership.
This is why Hillary Clinton's style of communication is not only vague, but lends itself to criticism. A Washington Post article titled "Hilary Clinton's ridiculous hedge on Keystone XL" quotes the former Secretary of State's answer to a simple question about her stance on the pipeline:
Here's Hillary Clinton's "answer" to a question about whether she supports or opposes the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline at a townhall in New Hampshire today.
"If it's undecided when I become president, I will answer your question," Clinton said. "This is President Obama's decision. I'm not going to second-guess him."
Er, what?
Clinton went on to note that she was in a position unique among the 2016 field due to her time as secretary of state. "I'm in a different position than any other candidate," Clinton said. "I was there. I put this process together. I oversaw it for four years."

Clinton went on to note that she was in a position unique among the 2016 field due to her time as secretary of state. "I'm in a different position than any other candidate," Clinton said. "I was there. I put this process together. I oversaw it for four years."

Banks Squirm As Congress Moves To Cut The 6% Dividend Paid To Them By The Fed
On December 23 of this year, the Federal Reserve will be 99 years old. And throughout that 99 years, regardless of boom, bust, recession or Great Depression, the biggest Wall Street banks have been enjoying a 6 percent, risk-free return on the capital they hold at the Fed in the form of dividends.
Have you looked at your checking or money market bank statement lately from JPMorgan Chase or Citibank? How about the statement showing the interest you’re earning on your mortgage escrow account with the big banks? While the country suffers through the lingering effects of the Great Recession caused by the biggest Wall Street banks, the public typically receives less than 1 percent on their deposits at the big banks, while the government has legislated a permanent, risk-free 6 percent guarantee to the Wall Street banks for their capital on deposit at the Fed. Now that’s an entitlement program that needs to die!
This corporate welfare program gets even better: if the shares of stock were acquired prior to March 28, 1942, the 6 percent risk-free dividend is tax exempt and the bank doesn’t have to pay corporate taxes on it.

River bacteria that killed Mechanicsville man identified
The river bacteria that contributed to the death of a Mechanicsville man last week has been identified as Vibrio vulnificus, a health official said.
Charlie Horner, 75, died after a cut from a catfish barb became infected with the bacteria Saturday at the Rappahannock River in Essex County. His leg was amputated Monday to stall the spread of the infection, but he died two days later.
Horner’s was the first death of 2015 reported in Virginia attributed to Vibrio vulnificus. There have been 17 cases so far this year, five of which were from wound infections, according to preliminary state data.
Human cases are rare, but health departments say residents can take steps to prevent infection.

Keep This on Hand - Treats Pet and Human Wounds When Other Treatments Fail
By Dr. Becker
Scientists have recently discovered yet another reason we MUST save nature’s pollinators from extinction, specifically in this case, honeybees. In addition to the invaluable pollination services they provide, honeybees may also be a source of alternative tools to fight infections in the face of ever-increasing numbers of antibiotic-resistant pathogens.
Researchers at Lund University in Sweden have identified 13 lactic acid bacteria strains found in fresh honey that produce a multitude of active antimicrobial compounds. Their study results were published in the International Wound Journal in September 2014.1
Bacteria in Fresh Honey Heals Wound Infections
Fresh raw honey has been used throughout history to treat infections. It is found in the honey stomach of bees and is quite different from the manufactured honey sold in grocery stores. In fact, highly processed store-bought honey is akin to high fructose corn syrup, which is more likely to increase infection and should never be used to treat topical wounds.
The bee honey bacteria was tested in the laboratory on severe human wound infections such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus),Pseudomonas aeruginosa and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE). When the bacteria was applied to the infectious organisms in the lab, it neutralized all of them.
The lactic acid bacteria has also been tested on horses with persistent wounds. The bacteria was blended with honey and applied to the wounds of 10 horses – wounds that had not responded to any other treatment.
The result? The honey mixture healed all of the horses’ wounds.
The same formula has also previously been shown to protect against bee colony collapse.

Report: Maryland prison admissions down 19 percent in decade
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland’s prison admissions fell 19 percent over the last decade, driven by a 43 percent drop in admissions in Baltimore, according to a data analysis presented to a state panel on Wednesday.
The analysis by The Pew Charitable Trusts counted inmates in state prisons who are serving sentences of a year or longer. Overall, Maryland’s prison population declined about 5 percent, from 22,466 to 21,326.
“Fifty-eight percent of prison admissions coming in the door were sentenced for nonviolent crimes, but there has been a statewide decline in drug offenders sentenced to prison over the last decade,” said Felicity Rose, a senior associate for the Crime and Justice Institute, a partner with Pew.
Pew is gathering data for a state panel that is seeking ways to reduce spending on corrections. Wednesday’s presentation was the first given to the Justice Reinvestment Coordinating Council. Analysts are collecting more background to try to explain the findings. The panel plans to submit recommendations to the General Assembly.

Murder Suspect Found To Be In Country Illegally During July 7 Traffic Stop
PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Lake County sheriff's deputies learned that Juan Emmanuel Razo was in the U.S. illegally from Mexico more than two weeks before his arrest in the death of a 60-year-old Concord Township woman.
Razo made his first court appearance Tuesday in the death of Margaret Kostelnik where a judge set a $10 million bond. He's also accused in the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl and the shooting of another woman who survived.
Razo pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder, but still faces possible murder and other charges in connection to the other incidents.
Lake County Sheriff's Det. Brian Butler said during the court hearing that during a July 7 traffic stop, deputies contacted border patrol agents who advised the sheriff's office not to detain Razo despite his status as an undocumented immigrant.
A 14-year-old girl told police that Razo tried to rape her about 10:40 a.m. in Helen Hazen Wyman Park in Concord Township.
Detectives canvassed the area looking for Razo. They also searched his Lusard Street home in Painesville, but didn't find him.

Congress proposes this new law to “fix” Social Security
On January 31, 1940, the very first Social Security check ever delivered went to Ms. Ida May Fuller, a former legal secretary who had recently retired.
Ms. Fuller had spent just three years paying into the system, contributing a total of $24.75 to Social Security.
Yet her first check was for nearly that entire amount. Quite a return on investment.
She went on to live past 100, collecting a total of $22,888.92, over 900 times the amount she contributed to the program. Her story is quite the metaphor.
If you’re not familiar, Social Security is comprised of two primary trust funds: Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) and Disability Insurance (DI).
Essentially, all of the taxes paid in to Social Security end up in one of these two trust funds.
The trust funds then ‘manage’ the money to generate a rate of return, and then pay out distributions to program recipients.

Democrat: Black Lives Matter Protesters ‘Should Be in Front of Planned Parenthood’
During a rally outside the Ohio statehouse on Tuesday, Ohio State Rep. Bill Patmon, a Democrat, said the demonstrators from the Black Lives Matter movement, which targets the police, should include Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
“You hear a lot of demonstrations across the country now about ‘black lives matter.’ Well they skipped one place. They should be in front of Planned Parenthood,” said Patmon, who is African-American.
Patmon, along with state officials, representatives from the Ohio Right to Life, and other pro-life groups spoke during the rally, urging action against Planned Parenthood on the heels of the release of videos showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing the delivery of baby body parts obtained during abortions.
In Cuyahoga County alone, which Patmon represents, a majority of the women who had abortions were black.
“You say, ‘Well, you’re kind of strident, aren’t you?’ I say, ‘no, not when 5,499 abortions are in Cuyahoga County, which I happen to represent, and 63 percent of them are black women. 63 percent of them are of a certain hue in their skin,” he said.
“Black lives matter,” and “American lives matter,” Patmon said.

Dems' Economic Policies Will Hurt Those They Claim to Help
Democrats are bickering over how high to raise the minimum wage, even though doing so would hurt constituencies the party claims to represent. Democrats all agree the minimum wage must be raised. The party's establishment politicians — Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi — propose a minimum wage hike to $12. Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is calling for a $15 minimum wage, even though the socialist only pays his interns $12 an hour.
Is that all he can afford to pay them?
A study published by the American Action Forum and the Manhattan Institute for Policy found both proposed minimum wage policies would decimate the jobs held by low-skilled workers who often vote Democrat. If the minimum wage rose to $12 an hour, the economy would lose 3.8 million jobs. If the minimum wage rose to $15 an hour, 6.6 million jobs would disappear.
Besides putting the jobs of fast-food workers at risk, the Democrats' plan would hurt their supposed darling constituency: illegal immigrants. Of the 11.3 million illegals in this country, 8.1 million hold jobs.

Total Collapse: Greece Reverts To Barter Economy For First Time Since Nazi Occupation
Months ago, when Alexis Tsipras, Yanis Varoufakis, and their Syriza compatriots had just swept to power behind an ambitious anti-austerity platform and bold promises about a brighter future for the beleaguered Greek state, we warned that Greece was one or two vacuous threats away from being "digitally bombed back to barter status."
Subsequently, the Greek economy began to deteriorate in the face of increasingly fraught negotiations between Athens and creditors, with Brussels blaming the economic slide on Syriza’s unwillingness to implement reforms, while analysts and commentators noted that relentless deposit flight and the weakened state of the Greek banking sector was contributing to a liquidity crisis and severe credit contraction.
As of May, 60 businesses were closed and 613 jobs were lost for each business day that the crisis persisted without a resolution.
On the heels of Tsipras’ referendum call and the imposition of capital controls, the bottom fell out completely as businesses found that supplier credit was increasingly difficult to come by, leaving Greeks to consider the possibility that the country would soon face a shortage of imported goods.

US official: Plane debris in Indian Ocean same type as MH370
WASHINGTON (AP) — Air safety investigators have a “high degree of confidence” that aircraft debris found in the Indian Ocean is of a wing component unique to the Boeing 777, the same model as the Malaysia Airlines plane that disappeared last year, a U.S. official said Wednesday.
Air safety investigators — one of them a Boeing investigator —have identified the component as a “flaperon” from the trailing edge of a 777 wing, the U.S. official said.
A French official close to an investigation of the debris confirmed Wednesday that French law enforcement is on site to examine a piece of airplane wing found on the French island of Reunion, in the western Indian Ocean. A French television network was airing video from its Reunion affiliate of the debris. U.S. investigators are examining a photo of the debris.

One Tough Bite: T. Rex's Teeth Had Secret Weapon
Secret structures hidden within the serrated teeth of Tyrannosaurus rex and other theropods helped the fearsome dinosaurs tear apart their prey without chipping their pearly whites, a new study finds.
Researchers looked at the teeth of theropods — a group of bipedal, largely carnivorous dinosaurs that includes T. rex and Velociraptor — to study the mysterious structures that looked like cracks within each tooth.
The investigation showed that these structures weren't cracks at all, but deep folds within the tooth that strengthened each individual serration and helped prevent breakage when the dinosaur pierced through its prey, said study lead researcher Kirstin Brink, a postdoctoral researcher of biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga. WHOA: What this Alabama sheriff is suggesting will scare liberals to death
I guess we’re not the only ones who think this country is going in the wrong direction.
Last week, Alabama’s Sheriff Jimmy Harris issued a statement urging citizens to take up arms to protect themselves, saying, the world is in a state of disarray and the United States is going down fast. We are losing everything that our Founding fathers based this country on. Until last week almost all the bad terrorist or mass shootings were somewhere else and now they are in our backyard.
In his official statement, Harris said “when people can walk into schools, movie
theaters, recruiting stations etc and pull a gun it’s time for all of us law abiding citizens to take a look at how we protect ourselves, family and friends. This Country is based on God, guns, and the right to protect ourselves. I think as Sheriff it is my place to protect the safety and security of our citizens. And help citizens in ways to protect their selves and their families.
I ask each and every one of you to take a look at how you are prepared to protect yourself. If you are not prepared it is time that you get self-defense training or firearms training. As a Christian I ask you to put your faith in God, and as a life time NRA member it is time you learn to protect yourself by learning the proper and safe ways to handle a weapon.”
Harris also said he called a supervisor meeting to change the policy on firearms. His department is trying to raise the money now to buy every Certified Deputy a backup weapon to carry concealed on his person everywhere he goes.
