Video Shows Cop Standing Toe-to-Toe with Handcuffed Middle Schooler Outside School Bus — What Happens Next Is More Than a Little Alarming
As a video makes the rounds showing a Boynton Beach, Florida cop apparently kicking the back of a middle schooler’s legs and sending the handcuffed 13-year-old to the ground, the department has placed an unnamed officer on administrative duty and launched an internal affairs review.
“They said don’t speak when I was spoken to and the man spoke to me and said ‘be quiet I was talking’ and he slammed me, as simple as that,” Kevens Jeanbaptist, a student at Congress Middle School, told WPTV-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jeanbaptist said last week’s incident started after his school bus driver told him not to open the window, according to WPLG-TV in Miami.
“The girl sprayed perfume and I got asthma,” he told WPLG. “I was coughing and I tried to turn on the AC. He said no, so I rolled down my window.”

Republican Establishment On Brink of Imploding Once More
Rubio Has Blunt Words on Climate Change, Hillary Clinton ... Florida Sen. Marco Rubio told ABC's "This Week" that he believed he was ready to be president and would take an all-or-nothing approach to running if he does decide to go ahead, while also sounding skeptical notes on climate change and Hillary Clinton's tenure as secretary of state — two likely hot issues in 2016. – AP
Dominant Social Theme: Rubio, right man for the time.
Free-Market Analysis: In this past presidential election, the Republican Party establishment brain trust was so worried about libertarian Ron Paul that the party furiously staved off the congressman's bid before settling on the more establishment friendly Mitt Romney.
Of course, they might have well have settled on Puff the Magic Dragon, as Romney's candidacy soon went up in smoke, and the result was the election of Barack Obama.
The fundamental problem faced by Republican insiders is that the libertarian strain in US politics is a dominant one. When one adds up both democratic and republican libertarians, it can be seen that this worldview is immensely popular. How could it not be? Most people do not enjoy high taxes, rapid price inflation, unemployment, serial wars, virtually untrammeled regulation and all the other features of the current regulatory democracy.
And when it comes to this sort of social organization, the negatives are rapidly outweighing the positives. There is only so much redistribution that can be offered; a collapsing economy cannot simply be redistributed into comity. At some point, enough people will have had enough.
This is one reason that we have predicted the rise and possible victory of someone like Rand Paul. Ronald Reagan came along after the Jimmy Carter years and his rhetoric, if not his actions, took the edge off the libertarian fever of the time. Margaret Thatcher did the same thing in Britain. Presumably, someone like Ron Paul's quasi-libertarian son Rand Paul could provide the same sort of service to those dedicated to maintaining the current system.

Walter Jones Repels a War Party Attack
The GOP Beltway establishment is celebrating the victory of Thom Tillis, Speaker of the North Carolina House, over his Tea Party and Evangelical rivals in Tuesday’s primary for the U.S. Senate.
But the story ended less happily for the Beltway elite in the Tar Heel State’s 3rd Congressional District. There, the planned purge of Rep. Walter Jones was repulsed by his loyal Republican base.
Yet, this massively funded effort, to kill the career of a 20-year House veteran, whose father held the seat for decades before him, testifies eloquently to the intolerance of the ideological and monied elite of the party to which conservatives give allegiance.
Reportedly, a million dollars of super PAC money poured into the 3rd, from Republicans, in support of a brazen Big Lie campaign to paint Walter Jones as a liberal. But what is the Congressman’s real record?
In the Bush I era, he voted against No Child Left Behind.

CAUGHT ON TAPE: Teacher Grabs Boy By Face, Slams Him Into Wall
An Ohio kindergarten teacher is under investigation after surveillance video showed her violently grabbing a six-year-old boy by the face and slamming him against a wall.
The incident happened months after Ian Nelson's parents had confronted officials at the Riverdale Schools about the teacher, Barb Williams.
“We asked for him to be moved to a different classroom. ... The principal told us at the time that she’s a highly recommended teacher and they are unwilling to transfer him to a different class,” said Anthony Nelson said.

More Anti-Islamic Metro Bus Ads On The Way
A group that got in a free-speech court fight with Metro a few years ago is back with new eyebrow-raising ads on the sides of buses.
In 2012, Metro tried to block a group called the American Freedom Defense Initiative from placing anti-Jihad ads in the Metro system.
Metro argued that they could be a threat to public safety. In the end, Metro lost a federal court fight that cost it $35,000.

Roommates Buy Lumpy Used Couch, Find $40K In Cash
For all the screaming and carrying on, their neighbors thought they'd won the lottery. But it was a lumpy old sofa stuffed with $40,000 in cash that had three young roommates raising a ruckus.
And here's the other side of the ticket: They returned the money to the 91-year-old widow whose couch had been given away.
"We just pulled out envelopes and envelopes," said Cally Guasti, a social worker with Family of Woodstock who shares an apartment with two friends in New Paltz, 75 miles north of New York City. "My mouth was literally hanging open -- everybody's was -- it was an unfathomable amount."

American Shoppers Take Breather Following Retail Sales Surge
American consumers took a respite from going to malls and restaurants as retail sales climbed less than forecast in April after the strongest gain in four years.
The 0.1 percent increase followed a revised 1.5 percent surge in March that was the biggest since March 2010, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast of 83 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 0.4 percent advance.
Consumers were less inclined to ramp up again after March saw a release of pent-up demand caused by harsh winter weather. At the same time, a pickup in hiring, rising home values and higher April sales at retailers from Gap Inc. to Cato Corp. signal household spending, which makes up about 70 percent of the economy, is poised to resume growth.
“Things are still set up for a strong second quarter,” said David Berson, chief economist at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, who correctly projected the gain in sales. “We’ve seen a reasonably good pickup in job growth. That’s ultimately the key to everything. The economy is getting stronger.”

Sallie Mae, Navient To Pay $139 Million Settling Probes Into Cheating Troops On Student Loans
WASHINGTON -- Sallie Mae and its former loan servicing unit agreed to pay a combined $139 million to resolve federal allegations that the companies cheated soldiers and charged other borrowers unfair fees on student loans.
The Department of Justice and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. accused Sallie Mae and its loan unit, now called Navient, of intentionally violating the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act by overcharging active-duty troops beginning in 2005, a period in which service members were fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The FDIC said Sallie Mae and Navient processed borrowers’ monthly student loan payments in a way designed to maximize late fees.
Despite the settlement and the evidence amassed by federal investigators, the Education Department hasn't determined whether it will take any action on Navient's loan servicing contract with the federal government. Education Secretary Arne Duncan said he instructed department officials to immediately conduct a review to determine "what appropriate actions, if any," should be taken against the company.

America's not going broke. It IS broke. (Here's why it doesn't matter)
Last week in the Land of the Free, I heard a radio campaign ad for a local political candidate while in Texas.
In the ad, he was talking about the debt and excessive government spending. And then he said something along the lines of, “We need to get this under control before America goes bankrupt.”
‘Buddy,’ I remember thinking, ‘America isn’t going bankrupt. It already IS bankrupt.’
Just so that we don’t mince words, my dictionary defines ‘bankrupt’ as “any insolvent debtor,” i.e. a debtor whose liabilities exceeds assets.
That’s the US government, by its own admission.
As we’ve discussed before, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) publishes financial statements each year in which they list all official government assets and liabilities.
The liabilities far exceed the assets. Big time. And the hole is getting deeper each year.
At this point the government’s net worth is roughly NEGATIVE $17 trillion, about 110% of GDP. That’s textbook insolvency.

Ocean City Officials Reject Proposed Beach Foam Party
OCEAN CITY – Hopes for holding a large foam party on the beach were grounded this week amid concerns over timing and the event’s fit in Ocean City.
Brothers Kyle and Corbin Kelly, of ALFP Inc., presented the event, Foam N’ Glow “World’s Largest Foam Party” Summer Fest 2014, to the Recreation and Parks Commission on Tuesday afternoon. The event is described as a foam party fused with high-energy music, ultraviolet dancers and CO2 shows.
Foam N’ Glow is estimated to host at least 3,000 attendees. The event was proposed to take place on the beach downtown in the area of N. Division Street on the night of July 5. While the target age to participate is 16 years old and older, the event is open to all ages.

Wages Of Young Female College Grads Are Lower Today Than In 1989
One of the most shocking findings from Heidi Shierholz’s, Will Kimball’s, and my research on young graduates is that inflation-adjusted wages for young female college graduates are lower today than they were in 1989. Average real wages for young female college graduates are currently $15.29, whereas 25 years ago they were $16.12 (in 2013 dollars) — a decrease of 5.2%.
This is part of a wider trend of wage stagnation and decline since 1989 for both men and women. For all college graduates ages 21-24 (male and female combined), wages today are only 2.4% higher than they were in 1989. This growth was driven entirely by the prosperous economy of the late 1990s, when young grads of both genders saw wage increases of close to 20%. Outside of that time period, however, wages have stagnated or declined, with women seeing especially large declines in the 2000s.

When The Real Cost is Hidden, Making Good Decisions Is Impossible
When good decisions are no longer possible, bad decisions are inevitable.
If we had to summarize the response of the Federal government and the Federal Reserve to the structural financial crisis of 2008-2009, we could say that both institutions went all-in to obscure the real price of credit and capital.
The real cost of credit and capital is discovered by open, transparent markets. When a central bank sets the price of credit, it destroys the market's price-discovery process. When the government subsidizes certain types of credit, for example, home mortgages and "cash for clunkers" auto loans, it destroys the market's price-discovery process.
This distorts not just the price of credit, but the price of everything purchased with credit. This is the origin of bubbles, and of the resulting busts.

Half of U.S. doctors no longer accept Medicaid
Survey shows Obamacare making life harder for poor
Under Obamacare, you may have a right to get health care, but with increasing numbers of physicians not taking new Medicaid patients, good luck finding a doctor if you happen to be a low-income patient.
A recent survey of the medical profession found that fewer than half, 45.7 percent of physicians surveyed, are willing to accept new Medicaid patients, notes Joshua de Gastyne, a member of the Young Leaders Program at the Heritage Foundation.
The survey, by the physician search and consulting firm Merritt Hawkins, found the overall rate of acceptance of Medicaid as a form of payment in five medical specialties across 15 metro markets is 45.7 percent. Boston was the highest, at 73 percent, and Dallas the lowest, at 23 percent.

Common Core: Federal Agents To Be Placed In Schools
Under a new program implemented by education czar Arne Duncan, employees from the federal department of education will be placed in schools throughout the nation to oversee their operations and ensure they’re following federal guidelines and procedures. This doesn’t sound so horrible, until you remember that the federal government isn’t supposed to have any hand in education and they’re continually telling us that their role is ‘limited’.
According to the website for the DoE, the “Principal Ambassadors Fellowship” was created “in order to implement needed reforms” and to “recognize the important impact that a principal has on instructional leadership, the school environment, and talent management and to better connect this expertise and knowledge with education policy makers.”
The PAF’s will be provided free of charge to the schools and will work alongside their administrations to ensure that they understand federal policies and guidelines, acting more like Common Core police than assistants. They’ll spend 20 hours a week in the schools and according to the website will “spend time gaining greater knowledge of the content of key federal programs and policies, in addition to the context and process by which they are designed and implemented.” In other words make sure that they’re doing what the federal government wants them to do.

Female deputy delays emergency call for sex
'She was in her full uniform and in her marked patrol unit'
(ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION) Two Rockdale County deputies resigned instead of being terminated after two separate internal investigations into alleged misconduct, the Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Deputy Loretta Hernandez, 39, engaged in several incidents of sexual activity while on duty and admitted to delaying her response to a call, Cpl. Michael Camp said in an emailed statement. Hernandez resigned in lieu of termination during a disciplinary hearing, Camp said.
“In at least two of the incidents, she was in her full uniform and in her marked RCSO patrol unit in public,” Camp said. “In the third incident, Deputy Hernandez, while on duty, was outside of her patrol car inside a local business that was closed.”

It’s various agents have executed an agenda which has ensured the unparalleled debasement of its once civil society, as well as the corruption of its people. With the rapid proliferation of information technology and deep penetration of the internet into every sphere of life, this societal degeneration has accelerated exponentially over the past five years.
So much of what has occurred in the USA over the past five plus years has served to profoundly undermine the moral fabric of society. It is now clear that an ultra-liberal and brazenly permissive agenda has been foisted on the nation, whether the people wanted it or not. Yes, there are plenty of devotees to this overly materialistic and hedonistic philosophy of life; however, the vast majority of Americans are repulsed by it. How then has this dubious agenda been able to proceed with such force and speed. And, with so little resistance.
When the executive branch of the US Federal Government colludes with the Mainstream Media and Corporate Sector, there is simply no stopping it. Especially when both the legislative and judicial branches have been sufficiently threatened and intimidated, there is even less chance of slowing down this unparalleled Juggernaut. How then will We the People take back our power, our government, and our lives from the locus of power that seems hellbent on national destruction?

Ocean City To Ban Sale Of Knives, Laser Pointers
OCEAN CITY – The Mayor and City Council voted to ban the sale of “assisted opening knives” and laser pointers in Ocean City with both most likely being passed by an emergency ordinance next Monday to become effective immediately.
On Tuesday afternoon, Ocean City Police Department Chief Ross Buzzuro and Lt. Mark Pacini requested the Mayor and City Council move an amendment to Chapter 58, Sections 121 and 123, of the town code to add the definition and prohibition of “assisted opening knife.”
This change would go along with Maryland State Law that states a person may not sell, barter, display, or offer to sell or barter a switchblade or shooting knife. Ocean City plans to take it one step further by banning “assisted opening knives.”

Study: It's Getting Harder for Middle Class to Afford Buying a Home
The number of middle-class Americans who can afford home ownership is falling in more cities, according to a new industry study.
The report from real estate research firm Trulia concludes that in 20 of the top 100 largest metro area, the middle class are now frozen out of the home buying market.
Trulia considers a home affordable for a median income buyer in a given market if total monthly costs — including mortgage, insurance and property taxes — after a 20 percent down payment are less than 31 percent of a region's median household income.

Feds released hundreds of immigrant murderers, drunk drivers, sex-crimes convicts
Immigration officials knowingly released dozens of murderers and thousands of drunken drivers back into the U.S. in 2013, according to Obama administration statistics that could undercut the president’s argument that he is trying to focus on the most serious criminals in his immigration enforcement.
Among the 36,000 immigrants whom U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released from custody last year there were 116 with convictions for homicide, 43 for negligent manslaughter, 14 for voluntary manslaughter and one with a conviction classified by ICE as “homicide-willful kill-public official-gun.”
The immigrants were in deportation proceedings, meaning ICE was trying to remove them from the country and could have held them in detention but released them anyway, according to the Center for Immigration Studies, which published the numbers Monday. The Washington Times also obtained the data.

Morgan State Dining Contract Upsets Franchot
Comptroller Peter Franchot turned up the heat on Morgan State University officials at the Board of Public Works Meeting Wednesday, accusing them of selecting their dining services contractor with a biased eye.
“This stinks,” Franchot said. “It’s just handed with a big bow-tie around it to to the incumbent.”
The university recently accepted a $35 million bid with Thompson Hospitality Services, a food service company and current contractor with Morgan State. But two other companies were disqualified before Morgan officials even reviewed the financials in the bid they placed, because they failed to meet either the technical or Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) standards set by the university.
Franchot called the companies’ disqualification “arbitrary” and said it appeared Thompson was selected because Morgan officials knocked out the competition.

Edward Snowden's guide to encryption is made public for the first time
Ordinary people must learn to scramble their emails, privacy campaigners said today, as an encryption how-to video made by Edward Snowden was made public for the first time.
The former NSA employee who blew the whistle on the agency's all-pervasive online surveillance made the video to teach reporters how to communicate with him in secret.
The 12-minute clip, in which Mr Snowden has used software to distort his voiceover, explains how to use free software to scramble messages using a technique called Public Key Encryption (PKE).
The video's description on Vimeo says: 'By following these instructions, you'll allow any potential source in the world to send you a powerfully encrypted message that ONLY YOU can read even if the two of you have never met or exchanged contact information.'

ObamaCare contractor pays employees to do nothing, whistleblower says
Employees at an ObamaCare processing center in Missouri with a contract worth $1.2 billion are reportedly getting paid to do nothing but sit at their computers.
"Their goals are set to process two applications per month and some people are not even able to do that," a whistleblower told KMOV-TV, referring to employees hired to process paper applications for ObamaCare enrollees.
The facility in Wentzville is operated by Serco, a company owned by a British firm that was awarded $1.2 billion in part to hire 1,500 workers to handle paper applications for coverage under the law, according to The Washington Post.

Overtime Pay For State Employees Rises; Some Double Their Salaries
Although the number of overtime payments to state employees made in 2013 remained roughly the same as those made in 2012, the sum of those payments rose by more than $8 million, according to a database provided by the state comptroller’s office in response to a Public Information Act request.
In 2012, the total amount of overtime paid out to all state employees totaled $126,719,585. Over 2013 the total payments rose to $135,050,262 — over $8 million more. Roughly one-third of this increase is due to an across-the-board living allowance raise which occurred in January of 2013.
The extra rise in overtime indicates either that more total overtime hours were worked this past year, or that higher-paid employees were working the same number of hours.

Judicial Watch: New Documents Show IRS HQ Control of Tea Party Targeting
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today released a new batch of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) documents revealing that its handling of Tea Party applications was directed out of the agency’s headquarters in Washington, DC. The documents also show extensive pressure on the IRS by Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) to shut down conservative-leaning tax-exempt organizations. The IRS’ emails by Lois Lerner detail her misleading explanations to investigators about the targeting of Tea Party organizations.
The documents came in response to an October 2013 Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed after the agency refused to respond to four FOIA requests dating back to May 2013 (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Internal Revenue Service (No. 1:13-cv-01559)).
One key email string from July 2012 confirms that IRS Tea Party scrutiny was directed from Washington, DC. On July 6, 2010, Holly Paz (the former Director of the IRS Rulings and Agreements Division and current Manager of Exempt Organizations Guidance) asks IRS lawyer Steven Grodnitzky “to let Cindy and Sharon know how we have been handling Tea Party applications in the last few months.” Cindy Thomas is the former director of the IRS Exempt Organizations office in Cincinnati and Sharon Camarillo was a Senior Manager in their Los Angeles office. Grodnitzky, a top lawyer in the Exempt Organization Technical unit (EOT) in Washington, DC, responds:
EOT is working the Tea party applications in coordination with Cincy. We are developing a few applications here in DC and providing copies of our development letters with the agent to use as examples in the development of their cases. Chip Hull [another lawyer in IRS headquarters] is working these cases in EOT and working with the agent in Cincy, so any communication should include him as well. Because the Tea party applications are the subject of an SCR [Sensitive Case Report], we cannot resolve any of the cases without coordinating with Rob.
The reference to Rob is believed to be Rob Choi, then-Director of Rulings and Agreements in IRS’s Washington, DC, headquarters.

O’Malley Still Weighing Signature Or Veto On Bill To Delay Somerset County Wind Farm
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s final scheduled bill signing ceremony came and went Thursday with no word on what he plans to do about legislation that would delay — and perhaps effectively kill — a proposed wind farm in Somerset County.
While O’Malley (D) has no more signing ceremonies planned, aides said that state constitution gives him until the end of next week to decide whether to veto the legislation, as environmentalist have urged, or to allow it to become law.
“The governor has not made a final decision on the bill,” spokeswoman Nina Smith told reporters following a morning ceremony at which O’Malley signed more than 200 other bills passed during the legislative session that ended last month.

Congressman Andy Harris Announces Winner of Congressional Art Competition
Winner’s Art Will Be Displayed for a Year in the Capitol
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris is pleased to announce the winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition: Elizabeth Geckle, an 11th-grader at Rising Sun High School in Cecil County, Maryland. Elizabeth's black ink scratchboard rendering of a crab, titled “Blue,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year. (Please see a photo of “Blue,” below.)
“I was amazed by Elizabeth’s attention to detail, and I am excited to see her artwork hang in the U.S. Capitol for all to enjoy,” said Rep. Harris. “All 38 of this year’s participants were impressive, and I hope they will continue to share their artistic talents with others throughout their high school career and beyond.”
Both the Congressman and a professional artist from his district—Nancy O’Brien, co-president of the Kent Island Federation of Art—judged the artwork. The Congressman and Ms. O’Brien also selected a 2nd- and 3rd-place winner, while the Congressman’s Facebook followers voted for a “People’s Choice” winner. They are as follows: YeJin Han of Parkside High (2nd place), Cristina Perez of Elkton High (3rdplace), and Lauren Gomez of Easton High (People’s Choice). You can see all submissions and winning pieces on Rep. Harris’ Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AndyHarrisMD.
Every year since 1982, the U.S. House of Representatives has sponsored the competition to recognize the artistic talents of high school students in each Congressional district throughout the country. Each Congressional district selects one winner, and that student has the opportunity to display his or her artwork for one year in the U.S. Capitol building, alongside the work of other contest winners from around the country.

Honor the Servicemen & Women of Wicomico County this Memorial Day
(Salisbury, MD) Area residents are invited to honor those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country at the 12th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony to be held on Monday, May 26, 2014 at 10:00am. The ceremony will take place at the Wicomico War Veterans' Memorial in front of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this free event, which is organized by members of the Wicomico War Veterans’ Memorial Committee. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Civic Center’s Midway Room.
As part of the ceremony, there will be a lowering of the colors by the Wicomico County JROTC, ringing of the Red Knights Memorial Bell, branch prayers, and a volley of arms by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department. Veterans, as well as their families, will be recognized during the ceremony…including a special family tribute to Gold Star Mothers. War Memorial Committee Member Sgt. Ed Tattersall, US Army, will perform the Reading of Veterans Names, which recognizes those Wicomico County residents who have fallen in the line of service.
In 2002, a group of veterans from all branches of the military came together to honor and preserve the memory of Wicomico County’s fallen heroes. As a result, the Wicomico County War Veterans Memorial was erected at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, which is itself a living war memorial to all veterans. Flags from each service branch, along with a United States, Maryland, Wicomico County and the POW-MIA flag, now proudly fly over a brick wall displaying bronze plaques with the names of Wicomico County’s fallen veterans beginning with World War I.
The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee has continued the work it began in 2002. Committee members are actively seeking information on those listed on the Memorial. If you have information to share about a fallen serviceperson please email Ed Hearthway at hearthwaye@aol.com. To help preserve the Memorial and honor a loved one who has or is serving, citizens may purchase a Tree of Honor Gold Leaf. Engraved with his or her name and a short message, the leaf will be displayed on the Veterans' Tree of Honor in the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center lobby. Leaves are $100 each. Please contact Tammy Taylor at 410-548-4900 ext. 115. All proceeds are placed in a fund designated to maintain the War Memorial into perpetuity.
