Wicomico County Council President John Cannon Caught Red Handed In A Lie
Earlier today we published an article referencing Council President John Cannon and his inexcusable attempt to go after County Executive Bob Culver and his "DAUGHTER" once again.
His mouth piece, the Daily Times quoted Cannon stating that Rick Pollitt's children never worked for the County. That is absolutely not true. Rick's "SON" worked for Parks & Rec. MAKING $15.00 AN HOUR PART TIME. Rick Pollitt and his Sister in Law signed checks together for the County before Rick was removed as County Executive by a major majority of County Voters.
Another thing we've come to learn are the, (AT LEAST) seven pages of documented information proving Family Members who work together for Wicomico County and I believe that excludes all of the people who are employed within the Fire Department.
In other words, THIS IS NOTHING NEW and was already in place while the former County Executive Pollitt was in office and Cannon never said a word!
That being said, it is NONE of the Council's business who the County hires unless it is a department head. There is a legislative branch and an executive branch. The LEGISLATIVE branch, (John Cannon) is forbidden to discuss PERSONNEL matters, period. So if ANY ethics charges should be filed it should be against the County Council.
Getting back to the Daily Times article, (above) while the print edition today clearly shows Cannon's blatant LIE about Rick Pollitt's "SON", they have changed their on line version, proving Council President John Cannon LIED.

Peninsula Regional Medical Pathology Sends Me To Collections
Last week I received a letter from a Collection Agency telling me my "account is seriously delinquent". Have you ever experienced the same kind of letter?
Knowing the bill had been paid, I immediately called the Collection Company, (after double checking the check had been made out and sent) and told them, THIS BILL HAS BEEN PAID.
The company was polite but they said I must retain a copy of the cancelled check. Look, I rarely EVER go to the Bank and I'm talking maybe once a year.
I was making a trip to Salisbury and on the way I was thinking, well, maybe it got lost in the mail. I stopped in the Bank on my way and low and behold, they cashed my check!
I called the collection company and told them I had confirmation. "OK, e-mail or fax us the copy of the cancelled check".
Unlike other Bloggers, I PAY MY BILLS! However, is that the problem here? I was in business for a LOT of years and my books were always balanced. You have an invoice, you have a payment, you have a deposit slip with account numbers on them and at the end of the month you have a zero balance. Could it simply be it's because I own Salisbury News?
Finally, since this went so far as being wrongly charged with not paying a bill, will this show up as "delinquent" on my credit report?
Funny how you do the honorable thing by paying your bills and rather then EVER getting a letter saying your payment is PAST DUE, I get sent to COLLECTIONS instead. Let me clarify, my payment was never late or past due and I never received any message/letter stating it was.
How many of YOU have had to do all the work to prove your innocence while being wrongly challenged?

Chief Barbara Duncan Wonders, WHERE'S THAT FIRE BOAT?
Obviously the real FIRST RESPONDERS, (the Salisbury Police) were able to be first on the scene for a water rescue, (shown above).
There was no waiting around for the Salisbury Fire Department, so Chief Barbara Duncan dove into the water herself to help make this rescue.
The Salisbury Fire Boat was nowhere to be seen. I guess it's only good for RECOVERIES.

JUST IN: Missing Chincoteague wild pony found dead
CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND, Va. (WAVY) – A wild pony missing for more than a month was found dead Wednesday night.
Chincoteague Police Chief Randy Mills confirmed “Dreamer’s Faith” was located on the fire company’s carnival grounds, in a corner where there is a chain link fence and several trees and bushes. A lawn maintenance contractor working in the area found the remains.
Investigators used a microchip to positively identify the pony. According to Chief Mills, there were no signs of any criminal activity and the department says the case is closed.

Berlin Citizens’ Tips Lead To Major Weapon Busts
BERLIN — Tips from concerned citizens are being credited for multiple significant drug and weapons arrests in separate incidents this week, reinforcing the importance of the adage “if you see something, say something.”
Around 11:30 a.m. last Thursday, Berlin Police responded to the Bay Terrace Apartments on Bay Street in response to a concerned citizen’s tip regarding suspicious drug activity in the parking lot. Officers arrived and observed a 1998 Buick Park Avenue in the parking lot which appeared to be engaged in illegal activity.
As the officers approached the vehicle, the suspects attempted to walk away, but two were detained. The driver, identified as Richard Tye Mumford, Jr., 19, of Bishopville, was allegedly emanating the odor of marijuana from his person. The odor of marijuana was also detected in the passenger area of the vehicle.
A search of Mumford revealed several packets of heroin, cash and call phone. A search of the vehicle revealed additional heroin packets, more cash and three more cell phones. In addition, a loaded .38 caliber handgun was located under the driver’s seat. During the investigation, a large caliber bullet hole was discovered in front of the driver’s compartment.

Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton & City Council Have Lost Their Minds!
Clearly most of you did not read the full report we put up the other day referencing Lot 1 and Lot 11 and even I have to admit, I didn't either.
I want to go back to a few years ago when I ran for Mayor. Before I announced I went to Jim Ireton at the Salisbury Festival and held a one on one conversation. I asked Jim, are you going to run for Mayor again. He replied, I'm not sure yet. If I sell the parking lots Downtown before the election I will not run again. If I don't sell the lots I'll probably run again.
Well, what does that statement mean to YOU?
TONIGHT, the Salisbury City Council has Parking Lot 1 and 11 up for approval. Now you listen very carefully Ladies & Gentlemen, here's what you didn't know...
There was only ONE bid on these two parking lots. Lot 1 appraised for, $980,000.00, JUST LOT 1. Lot 11 sits next to the Cannon building. Gillis and Gilkerson will purchase, (unless you stop this TONIGHT) for $225,000.00 for both lots!
Now I'm all for progress and revitalizing Downtown but I wouldn't be honest if I didn't share all this information with you and remind you that this group also purchased the Feldman's Building for $5,000.00, NO, that is not a mistake, number wise. They also purchased the Old Station 15 for less than $70,000.00.
I'm extremely confident that if ANYONE had any idea the City would actually consider selling those lots for that kind of money, many interested buyers would have stepped up to the plate and purchased it.
LOOK, in permits alone for just parking, you could easily manage a $225,000.00 mortgage and pay it off very quickly.
I can guarantee you the County would step up to the plate and buy it as well. I know there will be some of you out there saying, well, they should have put in an offer. NO! An offer so low is not only a smack in the face of each and every City and County taxpayer, IT SHOULD NOT EVEN BE CONSIDERED! Heck, I offered $250,000.00 cash for just the old Fire Station but they refused to sell it to me.
You people need to rise up and fight this TONIGHT. I'm talking about City and County residents and taxpayers and that goes for all the business owners as well. It's time your voices be heard. It's time to Mayor and Council know, you've had just about enough of this crap.
I'll remind all of you, you are not hearing about this anywhere else. Your local Media continues to fail you. You need to call your neighbors and friends and tell them about this article and tonight's meeting. Let's see how much this community really cares.
In closing, just what is $225,000.00 going to do for City taxpayers? Heck, that wouldn't cover repaving 20 car lengths of roads in the City and we ALL know how bad the roads are. It was your election to lose.

LETTER TO EDITOR:
We've all seen sheriff's deputies plenty of times with their elbows in the air jabbering away on their handheld cell phones while driving. They all claim they possess some superhuman abilities that us mere mortals don't have, and that they can drive with one hand and hold the phone with the other. Never needing to use a turn signal, turn on lights/sirens, operate a spotlight, operate their radio, etc. Just need two hands one for their phone and one for their steering wheel.
My question is this. Why can't Mike Lewis purchase $35 bluetooth speakerphones that clip onto the sun visor for these deputies to use? They are readily available at Walmart and Amazon. Wouldn't that make more sense?? Certainly they can afford $35 per car with all of the grants they receive and drug money they seize? What's their fancy light packages cost per car? And their expensive huge SUVs that their supervisors drive?
Speaking of the SUVS, since I saw a deputy driving his department issued SUV on Beaglin Park Dr. just a few minute ago, heavily engaged in his phone call - don't those come with bluetooth speakerphones built into them? Why don't the deputies sync with them? Perhaps the police issue cars might not have bluetooth built in, but there's no way those SUVs don't.
How many single vehicle accidents have all 3 local departments had over the past 2 or 3 years again? Oh, I forgot, deer ran out in front of all of them, right?

Should the Smoking Age Be 21? Some Legislators Say Yes
While a growing number of states have turned their attention to marijuana legalization, another proposal has been quietly catching fire among some legislators—raising the legal age to buy cigarettes.
This summer, Hawaii became the first state to approve increasing the smoking age from 18 to 21 starting Jan 1. A similar measure passed the California Senate, but stalled in the Assembly. And nearly a dozen other states have considered bills this year to boost the legal age for buying tobacco products.
“It really is about good public health,” said Democratic Hawaii state Sen. Rosalyn Baker, who sponsored the legislation. “If you can keep individuals from beginning to smoke until they’re at least 21, then you have a much greater chance of them never becoming lifelong smokers.”

While we encourage all of you to comment, agree or disagree with us, we have rules.
We know that the majority of you send us great comments that keep our posts loaded with great debate. However, there are some people who come here simply to attempt to get their nasty comments through.
We read ALL comments and we moderate them. To date we have published 725,000 comments. That's a lot of work on our behalf and Lord only knows how many we have rejected or spammed.
If you choose to curse, you are rejected. If you personally attack someone anonymously we'll reject your comment. If you use all capitol letters, (screaming/yelling) or racist comments you are immediately rejected. In some cases, (depending on the abuse) we'll spam you and you'll no longer be able to comment on Salisbury News.
So if someone ever tells you their comments never see the light of day, know that they are very verbally abusive people.
Thanks for understanding.

There were several home invasions last night that included weapons in Salisbury last night. We're awaiting multiple press releases as all of this was heard over the scanner. We'll update this information as it comes in.
More Evidence Of Yellow Journalism From The Daily Times
These people don't believe in the First Amendment. My name is on my comment and it attacks no one.
The Daily Times Editorial Board put out another hit piece this afternoon against County Executive Bob Culver and I have to say, it's whacked out.
It strongly suggests Culver is crooked and even threatens him in the next election. While I rarely ever give a link back to the Daily Times, I think it's best you all see how vindictive these people actually are. This isn't journalism, it's a hit piece.
Let me say this as well. Do you people remember when they put out the protocol article of which stated the rules that their journalists follow? Well, read this editorial and tell me if they told the truth. The link is below.

Should County Executive Bob Culver's "DAUGHTER" Sue Council President John Cannon For Discrimination?
Since a few of you still get the Daily Times, today they published a lengthy article about Culver's "DAUGHTER" getting a $13.00 an hour job with the County.
It turns out, (the DT's claims) a private citizen filed an ethics complaint over the "DAUGHTER" being hired.
The Ethics Board found absolutely NO wrong doing whatsoever.
Here's what was conveniently left out of the article. Council President John Cannon and the majority of the County Council were the ones who encouraged this investigation with the exception of Joe Holloway.
For far too many years I have heard far too many locals state that once their children graduate from school they are forced to move elsewhere because there are no decent paying jobs here on the Shore. Mr. Cannon, do YOU believe $13,00 an hour is a decent paying job AND would YOU encourage your children to remain in Wicomico County for such mentioned pay???
Yet YOU feel it was important to have Mr. Culver and his "DAUGHTER" investigated for wrong doing.
Mr. Cannon, you are simply making every possible attempt right out of the gate to not only make Mr. Culver's life more difficult, YOU are CAMPAIGNING to become the next County Executive.
In your political career you have been labeled a RINO as you have always played both sides of the fence. Whatever helps you get votes, that's how you will side.
Americans are growing extremely tired of your kind of politics and that clearly shows with the extremely low numbers O'Malley is experiencing in the Presidential Race. You're two of a kind.
As for my "DAUGHTER" quotes above, not once did the DT's ever state Bob's "DAUGHTER"s name in their verbose article on this matter.
This young Lady went through an extensive interview process, excluding ANYTHING to do with County Executive Culver. Clearly she was more QUALIFIED then ANY other applicant and she got the job. Yeah, for $13.00 an hour. If only a Father could be so proud of his own County!
While RINO's and Liberals like John Cannon picket for a $15.00 an hour minimum wage, SHAME on ALL of you Liberals for wasting everyone's time over $13.00 an hour!
Welcome to the BURY'. If I was his "DAUGHTER" I'd sue the County.
Good Luck "Courtney" Culver.

Michigan Man Fired Over Confederate Flag
A Michigan man employed at the Hillsdale Bob Evans plant was fired after refusing to remove a Confederate flag from his truck, the Hillsdale Daily News reports. According to the man, his bosses at the plant forced him to remove it after receiving a single anonymous complaint.
Angela Payne, a spokeswoman for the restaurant chain, told NBC24 that the flag was “offensive to many… customers and employees.”
The employee, Wesley Rogers, was told two weeks ago to remove the flag but refused, resulting in his termination.
“They said they were doing their best to follow up on a complaint,” Rogers told the Daily News. “To make [the person who lodged the complaint] more comfortable. But I wasn’t comfortable with it. I said ‘it wasn’t coming down, no way.’ Then they showed me my way out.”

People with Confederate Flags on Trucks Arrested under Anti-Terrorism Laws
Several pickup trucks with several large American and Confederate flags drove through a neighborhood where a black family was holding a birthday party for their child. The drivers of the trucks said they were coming back from a “Respect the Flag” event when people started throwing objects at the trucks. The party goers say they felt unsafe.
What’s not in dispute is that the drivers of the trucks were arrested under anti-terrorism laws.

Undisclosed Settlement Reached In Berlin Fire Company Harassment Lawsuit
BERLIN – A settlement has been reached in the $8 million harassment lawsuit filed against the Berlin Fire Company by one of its former paramedics.
The case filed by Zackery Tyndall against the Berlin Fire Company and members Bryon Trimble and Derrick Simpson in U.S. District Court was dismissed last week.
“The resolution is confidential,” said Jim Otway, Tyndall’s attorney. “I can state that it was resolved to my client’s satisfaction.”
The closure of the case comes three months after a federal court judge denied a motion to dismiss filed by the attorneys representing the fire company. In her opinion then, Judge Ellen Hollander wrote that the defendants claimed that what Tyndall called harassment was just teasing.

Rep. Cummings wants “Black Lives Matter” legislation
U.S. House Representative Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland), who for two decades has overseen some of his state’s most heavily black-populated precincts, is so convinced that black lives matter he wants it codified into law.
Elected to the House in 1996, Cummings is coming up on his 20th year representing Maryland’s 7th congressional district which includes over half of Baltimore City and most of Howard County. His district contains some of Maryland’s most “black” precincts, precincts in which statistics for crime and incarceration, homelessness, economic development, school drop-out, unemployment, drug conviction and out-of-wedlock birth rates all are consistently worse than both state and federal levels for all those same statistical categories.
Yet despite these facts, Cummings believes its time for EVERYBODY ELSE to realize that black lives matter.
In a piece published on afro.com Cummings laid out his plan new plan, “Enacting “Black Lives Matter” into law“, stating [in part]:
“America is at an historic crossroads. Either we will move forward in 2016 with public policies that support greater opportunity for everyone or we will continue to sink deeper into economic inequality, injustice and violence. These are the stakes in our current political struggles – and this is why black lives should matter for everyone.”

Obama Bans Pork from Prisons, CAIR Praises Decision
The federal Bureau of Prisons has banned pork products from being served in the 122 prisons it runs nationwide.
The ban started with the new fiscal year, which began October 1, and is attributed by the bureau to prisoners not liking pork. Surveys over recent years have found prisoners like pork least of all meats, and it is too costly, prison bureau spokesman Edmond Ross told the Post.
The National Pork Producers Council was skeptical.
"I find it hard to believe that a survey would have found a majority of any population saying, 'No thanks, I don’t want any bacon,'" Dave Warner, a spokesman for the group, said.

Uber-Liberal Billionaire Will Leave America If Donald Trump Wins
Uber-liberal billionaire Barry Diller – whose business empire includes the left-leaning Daily Beast website – says he will leave the United States in the event Donald Trump is elected president.
Diller, CEO of IAC/InterActiveCorp, told Bloomberg that if Trump wins he will “either move out of the country or join the resistance.”
“Donald Trump, all he is is about conflict, and all that he is is negative conflict,” Diller told the wire service. “He’s a self-promoting huckster who found a vein. A vein of meanness and nastiness.”
According to Diller, Trump “has no communication strategy – except to be what he has always been, a nasty mean person criticizing people and doing, you know, silly kind of showman stuff.”
Ouch … although that sounds eerily familiar to the “Republican” criticisms of Trump, doesn’t it?

Aerosmith Frontman Asks Trump Campaign To Stop Using Song
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is asking Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to stop using the power ballad “Dream On” at campaign events.
Attorneys for Tyler sent a second cease-and-desist letter to Trump’s campaign committee on Saturday.
The letter says that Trump does “not have our client’s permission to use `Dream On”‘ or any of Tyler’s other songs and that it “gives the false impression that he is connected with or endorses Mr. Trump’s presidential bid.”

Lower Gas Prices Means No Social Security Increase Next Year
WASHINGTON (AP) — For just the third time in 40 years, millions of Social Security recipients, disabled veterans and federal retirees can expect no increase in benefits next year, unwelcome news for more than one-fifth of the nation’s population.
They can blame low gas prices.
By law, the annual cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, is based on a government measure of inflation, which is being dragged down by lower prices at the pump.
The government is scheduled to announce the COLA — or lack of one — on Thursday, when it releases the Consumer Price Index for September. Inflation has been so low this year that economists say there is little chance the September numbers will produce a benefit increase for next year.
