TX Governor-Elect Abbott: I'll Sign Open Carry Handgun Bill As Soon As It Reaches My Desk
Texas Governor-elect Greg Abbott (R) says he will sign a bill to legalize the open carry of handguns as soon as the legislation reaches his desk. Abbott spoke to reporters in Austin the morning after he won the Lone Star State's gubernatorial election.
According to WFAA 8 ABC, Abbot said: "If an open carry bill is passed by the House and Senate, I will sign it into law."
Abbott added, "If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it's good enough for Texas."
It is interesting to note that open carry of rifles is already legal in Texas. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America has hung its hat on protesting the open carry of rifles in that state. Abbott is determined to be sure Texans will have the choice to carry a handgun openly with their rifle, if they so choose.

Poll: Support For Legalizing Pot Drops
Americans’ support for marijuana legalization is down 7 percentage points from last year and stands at just over 50 percent, a new poll says.
According to a Gallup poll released Thursday, 51 percent of Americans favor legalizing cannabis use, while 47 percent oppose legalization. The approval figure is down from 58 percent last year, a result that garnered significant media attention as a sign that the legalization movement had considerable momentum.
Legalization advocates are coming off major midterm election victories in Oregon, Alaska and Washington, D.C., which joined Colorado and Washington state in legalizing marijuana. The survey was conducted before Tuesday’s election.

Number of People Under "Active Monitoring" for Ebola in NYC Triples, City Officials Say
The number of people under "active monitoring" for Ebola symptoms has increased from 117 on Monday to 357 people Wednesday, health officials said.
The vast majority of those being monitored arrived in New York City within the past 21 days from the three Ebola-affected countries, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation said in a statement.
Others being monitored include the staff caring for Dr. Craig Spencer, the physician being treated for Ebola at Bellevue Hospital, the lab workers who conducted his blood tests and the FDNY EMTs who transported the doctor.
All of those being monitored showed no symptoms but are being checked on out of "an abundance of caution," the statement said.

Obama Just Released Another Terrorist
This is just disgusting. A few days removed from a complete shellacking in the midterm elections, Obama has decided to stick his nose up at the American people and release another dangerous terrorist from the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility.
Fawzi al-Odah was one of the longest-held terrorists in GITMO. Instead of keeping him in Guantanamo where we know he can be stopped, the Obama administration released him back to Kuwait.
Once home, al-Odah will be forced to spend a year in a Kuwaiti “militant-rehabilitation center,” however after six months he will become eligible for ‘parole,’ specifically more time outside the center to spend with family and friends.

Document dump shows Holder ‘at the heart’ of Fast and Furious debate
House oversight committee Chairman Darrell Issa told Fox News on Thursday that a massive trove of emails handed to his office on the eve of the elections indicates Attorney General Eric Holder was “at the heart” of deliberations over the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.
More than 64,000 pages of documents were given to the committee Monday night, a move Issa, R-Calif., said was a ploy to make sure they didn’t sway the election. But he said his staff is starting to go through them – already, one email exchange has surfaced in which Holder in 2011 blasted Issa “and his idiot cronies” looking into the botched anti-gun trafficking operation.
In that email, published by The Wall Street Journal, Holder claimed Issa and others “never gave a damn about” the program “when all that was happening was that thousands of Mexicans were being killed with guns from our country.” He accused them of trying only to “cripple ATF and suck up to the gun lobby.”
Issa rejected the charges, saying on Fox News the culpability lies with higher-ups, not the ATF, anyway.

Judge Rejects the ‘Disparate Impact’ Fraud
On Monday, one of the Obama administration’s foremost racial arsonists was given his comeuppance by a federal judge. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, who is on the American left’s short list for replacing U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, was informed by Judge Richard J. Leon that his effort to find housing discrimination where none existed amounted to “wishful thinking on steroids.”
Perez sought to apply the policy of “disparate impact” to housing. Judicial Watch explains this contemptible concept. “Under the theory of ‘disparate impact,’ a defendant can be held liable for discrimination for a race-neutral policy that statistically disadvantages a specific minority group even if that negative ‘impact’ was neither foreseen nor intended,” they write. “In such cases, defendants can be forced to pay for harm caused not by their own actions, but by economic and statistical realities, even if beyond their control.” (italics original)

Jay Carney to GOP: Your Party Is Racist — and ‘You Know It’
Former Obama White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, now a political commentator for CNN, casually admitted that, yes, his party uses race to convince minorities that Republicans seek to oppress them.
Before the midterm election, Carney said: “Republicans are going to pick up seats in the Senate and the House, and they may win control of the Senate. So (Democrats) need to mobilize their base voters, and that is especially true of minority voters.”
Carney also admitted that the use of the race card is cynical: “Equating support for stand-your-ground law … doesn’t mean you supported the action that took Trayvon Martin’s life. So that’s the kind of, you know, rough ad — similar to the one we saw from the Republican. I think we’ve come to expect that, and hopefully a lot of voters … kind of tune it out.”
Carney claims both sides use race to gin up their base. But when Republicans do it, he insists, they do so out of racism. Consider this exchange with Bill Kristol, the conservative publisher of the Weekly Standard. Carney claims that the Republicans’ push for voter ID is motivated by the racist Republican desire to suppress the black vote:
Kristol: I voted in Virginia last Saturday. Since I was going to be in New York next week, I voted early absentee in person, and I had to show my driver’s license. Do you think that’s really a problem?
Carney: You know what the statistics say. You know who is most affected by the requirements, essentially poll tax-type requirements.
Kristol: Poll tax? Showing an identification is like charging people a fine, a tax?
Carney: Bill, you know that the fraud isn’t substantial and real. You know it doesn’t have a significant impact, because it’s so minimal, on election results and you know what the motivation is behind it. You know it.
Kristol: I just totally disagree. But that’s OK.

INVESTIGATION LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS FOR VANDALISM
On October 31, 2014, Ocean City police observed multiple acts of vandalism to city property in the area of 2nd Street and the boardwalk. A fire hydrant, dumpsters and railing had been marked using spray paint. Through investigation, officers were able to identify two suspects - William Kazimierz Placek, 23, of Laurel, MD and Poppy I Walker, 25, of Washington, DC. Officers also determined that the suspects were still in Ocean City.
Placek and Walker were located a short time later in the area of 112th Street and Coastal Highway after officers located a vehicle registered to Placek. Police located empty spray paint cans in the vehicle and placed Placek and Walker under arrest. Officers also located a knife in the vehicle. In addition, officers determined that Placek and Walker were responsible for three additional markings throughout Ocean City previously reported to police. While in custody at the Ocean City Public Safety Building, Placek destroyed a sprinkler head in his jail cell.
Police have charged Placek with six counts of malicious destruction of property, malicious destruction scheme and concealing a deadly weapon. Walker has been charged with one count of malicious destruction of property. Both suspects were seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released on personal recognizance.
GOP Makes Record Gains At State Leve
Republicans won big at the state level Tuesday, and now control a record 67 chambers across the country.
The previous all-time high was 64 chambers in 1920. In 27 states, Republicans control both chambers, and in 23 states they control both chambers and the governor’s mansion. Democrats have complete control of just seven.
Arkansas is one of those states, following Asa Hutchinson’s win in the governor’s race over Democrat Mike Ross. Democrats lost majorities in ten chambers, including the Colorado, Maine and New York state senates, plus both houses of West Virginia.
“Voters overwhelmingly elected a new, open, innovative future for their families by electing state-level Republicans in record numbers across the nation, including in traditionally blue states,” Republican State Leadership Committee President Matt Walter said in a statement.
Democrats have dominated state chambers for much of the past century with the help of a process of redistricting that occurs every 10 years following the national census. Democrats used that system to redraw district lines to their advantage.

The Biggest Loser
The 2014 election was a disaster for Hillary Clinton. Why? Let us count the ways.
She will have to run against an energetic and motivated Republican Party. If the GOP had failed to capture the Senate, the loss would have been more than demoralizing. It would have led to serious discussion of a third party. Donors would have reconsidered whether their spending was worth the reputational cost. Candidate recruitment efforts would have stalled. Republican voters would have asked why they bother to show up. The Republican circular firing squad, always a problem, wouldn’t use conventional weapons. They’d use ICBMs.
Clinton would have loved to capitalize on this scenario. It would have enabled her to prolong strategic decisions such as how and when and to what degree she breaks from Obama. She would have claimed partial credit for saving the Senate. She would have promised to build on Democratic success. You would have been able to see her aura of inevitability for miles.
But she has been denied. Instead she must calculate how to salvage the wreckage of 2014. She must convince Democrats that their savior is a grandmother who lives in a mansion on Massachusetts Avenue. It is her party that is shell shocked, not the GOP. Trust me: You don’t want to be in that position.

Feds sued for Obamacare’s privacy rights violation
Law 'forces Americans to choose between disclosing personal information, or paying penalty'
Challenges to Obamacare have been to the U.S. Supreme Court twice already, winning once and losing once, and several other cases are moving that direction, one claiming the law is unconstitutional since it was a tax bill that started in the U.S. Senate and another that it is illegal because President Obama has made virtually dozens of arbitrary changes to the law without the consent of Congress.
Should Obamacare survive those claims, a new petition is being submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court asking for a review alleging the law violates the Fourth, Fifth and Ninth amendment provisions on privacy.
The complaint also cites Articles I, II and III of the Constitution regarding the separation of powers and focuses on two issues: the requirement to buy insurance and the control that will be vested in the Individual Price Advisory Board, a new creation of the federal law that is unanswerable to Congress and unaccountable to the federal courts.

Executive amnesty will ‘ignite a civil war’
'Great, great damage not only to the Democratic Party, but to America'
Barack Obama’s famous observation about the 2008 election was, “Elections have consequences.”
But what if national leaders respond to an election by ignoring the will of the voters?
Then the election might have tempestuous consequences.
At least, according to longtime conservative fundraiser Richard Viguerie, who has a warning for President Obama about his stated plans to take executive action on immigration reform even though voters just repudiated his policies by voting his party out of power in the Senate.
“If President Obama, by executive order, extends amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, as he’s promised to do shortly, this could ignite, quite frankly, a civil war across America against the Democratic Party,” Viguerie cautioned.
He continued, “It could be a major, major blow to the Democratic Party and brand them as the party that rewards illegal activity, and it could do great, great damage not only to the Democratic Party, but quite frankly, to America.”
Viguerie said he thinks Republicans would oppose executive amnesty. However, he also voiced words of caution for Republicans on the heels of their big election night victory.

Woman Reunites With Daughter She Gave Up For Adoption 47 Years Ago
Candy Wagner was what one would call “a searcher”. For nearly 20 years, the 62-year-old retired physical therapist looked for a baby she gave up for adoption in 1967.
At 14 years old, with a newly absent father and a devastated mother, Wagner began dating a high school senior.
“[He was] my first for everything,” Wagner told ABC News’ “20/20.” “He was my rock, and there was no question that I was in very deep young love.”

Pay The Fine - Or Pay The Shyster
Why is it effectively impossible to contest a traffic ticket without a lawyer?
Emphasis on effectively.
Yes, it’s possible to learn the legalisms and procedures; the dance steps that are required in order to perform before a judge. But – like trying to learn how to tango – it is a dance few non-lawyers ever master. Which is, I think, precisely the point.
The legal profession is a kind of high-brow cartel that – like any other cartel – manufactures work for itself. Work that is not actually needed but merely required. Like tax preparation assistance, for example. No one genuinely needs this “service” – taxes being illegitimate takings-by-force of other people’s money. But most of us have no choice but to hire (and pay) a tax preparer, else we’re forced to pay even more in taxes.
So it is also with lawyers.
Especially traffic lawyers.
Why, pray, should anyone charged with “speeding” require the “services” of a lawyer to present the relevant facts to a judge? It is not – as they say – rocket science. The cop – acting in his absurd capacity as the aggrieved party – presents his evidence that you were “speeding:”

The Democrats’ Waterloo
Their refusal to acknowledge the administration’s failures did not make them go away.
The Duke of Wellington said of his close-run victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo that the French “came on in the same old way, and we sent them back in the same old way.”
Something like that happened to the Democrats in Tuesday’s midterm elections, as they lost the Senate, a few more seats in the House, and additional governorships. They came on with the same old strategy, but this time they went down with it.
Obama and the Democrats chose not to defend the administration’s record of the last six years. On foreign policy, no Democratic chorus seconded Obama’s 2013 claim that this chaotic period in world affairs has been the most stable time in recent memory.
No Democratic senator insisted that Obama’s Russian reset had calmed Vladimir Putin.
Democrats did not argue that Obama had rightly distanced the U.S. from Israel.
Could Democratic candidates have pointed to the Middle East — the Iranian bomb-making efforts, the civil war in Syria, the collapse of post-surge Iraq, the rise of the Islamic State — to confirm Obama’s diagnosis that these were mostly manageable problems?

Thank You Liberals For Putting Me On Your Mailing List, I Trule Enjoy The Comedy
To Joe Albero alberobutzo@wmconnect.com
Thank you, Joe
Joe, the hardest thing in politics is changing the status quo. The easiest thing is to get cynical.
The Republicans had a good night on Tuesday, Joe -- but believe me when I tell you that our results were better because you stepped up, talked to your family and friends, and cast your ballot.
I want you to remember that we're making progress. There are workers who have jobs today who didn't have them before. There are millions of families who have health insurance today who didn't have it before. There are kids going to college today who didn't have the opportunity to go to college before.
So don't get cynical, Joe. Cynicism didn't put a man on the moon. Cynicism has never won a war, or cured a disease, or built a business, or fed a young mind. Cynicism is a choice. And hope will always be a better choice.
I have hope for the next few years, and I have hope for what we're going to accomplish together.
Thank you so much, Joe.

Berlin Gains Sustainable Title
BERLIN – A designation as one of the state’s “Sustainable Communities” is expected to allow Berlin’s successful façade grant program to continue.
Berlin is now one of 77 certified Sustainable Communities in Maryland. The designation, created by the Department of Housing and Community Development, allows municipal and county governments to apply for state funding for revitalization projects.
“We’re trying to make the towns a better place to live, work and shop,” said Kevin Baynes, director of community programs for the Department of Housing and Community Development. “This designation brings dollars.”
Baynes said the state passed the Sustainable Communities Act in 2010 in an effort to create a new target area for revitalization. It was also an attempt to consolidate several existing programs.

Sheriffs Across America Issue Dire Warning About What Obama's About to Do
It has been promised, and confirmed by the administration, that President Obama intends to bypass Congress and take “Executive action” to grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, including the criminals and terrorists among them.
But now sheriffs around the country are speaking up, issuing a dire warning about the likely results of a blanket amnesty granted by Obama. (H/T MRCTV)
They are warning of the coming increase in crime, disease, and terrorism, should Obama grant amnesty. They also they believe Obama’s amnesty will encourage more criminals and terrorists to join the millions of illegal immigrants already flooding across our porous southern border.
Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, Frederick County, Maryland:
“In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, every county in America will become a border county. This is absolutely going to worsen the crisis.
What we’re going to see is not only the cost to healthcare, social programs, and education, but the increase in criminals coming into our country, you’re going to see increases in crime, infiltration from transnational gangs, the drug trade and human tracking.”

Make D.C. Listen: Voters Reject Illegal Alien Rewards
Enough is enough. An important bloc of voters made their voices heard on Tuesday. Their message: Quit rewarding people who violate our immigration laws. They chose a sovereign nation over an illegal alien sanctuary nation, and they told politicians in both parties loud and clear: Put Americans first.
Will D.C. listen?
These voters are tired of politicians creating magnets for illegal immigrants. They’re tired of preferential treatment for defiant border-crossers, visa overstayers and deportation fugitives. They’re tired of the heavy costs and consequences of the government’s systemic refusal to protect its borders and fully implement interior enforcement.
Pay attention, both parties in the Beltway: These aren’t voters in a red-state bastion. They’re fed-up voters in bright blue Oregon — a whopping 941,042 of them, to be exact — who overwhelmingly rejected a ballot measure to provide special driver’s licenses “without requiring proof of legal presence in the United States.”
When Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber and radicals in the state legislature tried to push through illegal alien driver’s cards against the will of the people, the people struck back and forced a full public vote and electoral accountability.
“Citizens expect our lawmakers to uphold our laws, not work at finding ways to circumvent them,” said the group Protect Oregon Driver Licenses. “Oregon is the only state in the country that (gave citizens the) opportunity to vote on giving driver cards to those who cannot prove legal presence in the United States.” If only every state had the power of initiative and referendum. Ten states, including California, Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Vermont and Washington, plus the District of Columbia, “have had the law forced upon them with little or no recourse available to them.”
Listen up, D.C.: The Oregon proposal went down in flames by more than a 2-to-1 margin. More voters weighed in on Measure 88 than any other single candidate or question on the ballot, including the campaigns for governor, U.S. senator and marijuana legalization.

Anti-Texting And Driving Survey Shows People Addicted To Their Phones
Texting and driving. It is dangerous, deadly and many people are still doing it. Every day in the United States, nine people are killed and more than a thousand are injured from distracted driving.
Tracey Leong looks at a new surprising study about this road hazard.
This new study shows that while most people know it’s dangerous to text and drive, 74 percent admit they still do it.
Texting while driving can have deadly consequences.
“An old friend of mine, I knew him since I was eight years of age, really nice guy. He died instantly. Cars were stopped, had a complete stop, and he just took his eyes off for a complete second and that was it, it was all over,” said Richard Dalcin, driver.

The man who would not pivot
President Obama took to the podium today to inform the nation that he will change exactly nothing about how he does his job after a historic drubbing in the midterm elections. He will tout the same policies in the same ways, with no particular plan for how to get any of them passed, with no particular nevermind paid to how the politics have shifted tectonically beneath his feet, armed with nothing but his assertions of his rightness. Again.
Many of you will note that the president does pivot, often, back to the economy. As the economy—by his own admission today—has limped along without conferring upon the middle class any of the progress the president claims abounds, the president periodically announces that he’s pivoting. He wants to communicate he is concerned with the country’s top concern. So, he pivots— 19 times as of 2013, and I’m sure there are more since then. Again and again. But he doesn’t really pivot, does he? He says he’s pivoting. There’s no particular plan for how to get anything passed, no particular nevermind paid to what the political dynamic might allow him to do. There’s nothing but an assertion. That’s he’s pivoting.
And, today there wasn’t even that. Nor will there be. Dana Milbank, of all people, zeroes in on the disinterested nothingness Obama offered today and his constant avoidance of responsibility, as the message the American people sent went “in one presidential ear and out the other.” The whole thing is worth a read:

Senate Dems Plan to Rush Bills Through Before GOP Takeover
Senate Democrats are planning to rush masses of bills to the president's desk before January, when they will be forced to cede control of the upper chamber to Republicans following the GOP's midterm victories.
According to The Washington Post, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to advance a range of measures, including legislation to fund the government until September 2015 so as to avoid a government shutdown that would otherwise be triggered on Dec. 11 when the current funding arrangement expires.

Polls: White Voters Turned On Democrats, Favored GOP
Voters who cast ballots in Tuesday's election had a strikingly similar demographic profile to those who voted in 2010 and weren't all that different from those voting in 2006. But how they voted this year was very different from years past.
Exit polls are generally a bad way to measure changes in turnout. In addition to the usual concerns about sampling error in any poll, exit polls could show additional bias on some traits, such as race or population density. That's because the sample of precincts where voters fill out the surveys are chosen based on geography. If this year's exit poll includes more precincts located in an area where a cluster of voters share characteristics, such as race or income, it might overestimate the size of that group. Estimates of characteristics that aren't clustered this way, such as gender, are not subject to this type of bias, because men and women live in all precincts.

Robin Williams' Autopsy Found No Illegal Drugs, Alcohol
SAN FRANCISCO – Robin Williams' autopsy found no alcohol or illegal drugs were in his body when he killed himself at his Northern California home in August, sheriff's officials said Friday.
The autopsy results released by the Marin County sheriff's office found that the actor had taken prescription medications, but in "therapeutic concentrations."
The coroner ruled Williams' death a suicide that resulted from asphyxia due to hanging.
Sheriff's officials have said Williams was found in the bedroom of his home in Tiburon on the morning of Aug. 11. His death had been preliminarily ruled a suicide.

Dad Confronts Kidnapper, Saves 5-Year-Old Daughter
A set of Utah parents were awakened Friday to an unsettling noise for 4:30 in the morning: the sound of their front door opening and their 5-year-old daughter talking.
When the father rushed outside in his pajama pants and hoodie he saw the terrifying sight of his 5-year-old stepdaughter in the arms of a stranger who was carrying her away across the front lawn. The man had snatched the girl out of her bed in the basement moments earlier after coming in the house through an unlocked door, police said.
The father confronted the man, demanding that he give the girl back. Without a fight, the intruder handed her over, and then fled the scene.

Bank Of America Finds It Did Some More Crime In Q3, Revises Previously Released Earnings Lower By $400 Million
A week ago it was Citi, which took farcical non-GAAP earnings through the rabbit hole when it revised its already reported Q3 earnings lower by $0.20 to, as described in "Algos Please Ignore: Citi Slashes Previously Reported Net Income Due To "Legal Investigations" Over FX Rigging Probe" and now it is that other bank which has made crime an ordinary course of business.
From the just released press release which sees its Q3 EPS revised down from $0.04 to -$0.04
Bank of America Corporation today announced an adjustment to its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2014 to include additional litigation expense related to its foreign exchange business.
Subsequent to the company’s earnings announcement on October 15, and prior to the filing of the company’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2014, the company has been engaged in separate advanced discussions with certain U.S. banking regulatory agencies to resolve matters related to its foreign exchange business. As a result of those discussions, the company recorded a $400 million non-deductible charge and adjusted its third-quarter 2014 financial results to a net loss of $232 million or $(0.04) per share. There can be no assurance as to the ultimate outcome of these matters.
The company’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, which is being filed today with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will reflect the adjustment.

Orphaned otter on California beach finds new home at Chicago aquarium
An orphaned sea otter found all alone on a California beach four weeks ago has finally found a new home.
The pup was discovered on Coastways Beach in central California by a jogger four weeks ago, and immediately taken to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for care.
The southern sea otter was severely underweight and had been abandoned by her mother at least 16 hours prior to being discovered workers there said, so it was immediately a rush to get her fed and healthy.

Central Banking Kills
As the world reflects on the incomprehensible horror of the Great War which erupted 100 years ago there is a question which goes unasked in the media coverage. How was there no peace deal between the belligerents in 1915 or at latest 1916 once it became clear to all — especially after the Battle of the Somme — that the conflict had developed into a stalemate and holocaust of youth?
While there had been some early hopes for peace in 1916, they quickly evaporated as it became clear that the British government would not agree to a compromise deal. The political success of those who opposed compromise was based to a considerable degree on the argument that soon the US would enter the conflict on the Entente’s (Britain and France) side.
Although the US had allowed the Entente (but not the Central Powers) to access Wall Street without restriction during the first two years of the war, the historical evidence shows that President Wilson had been inclined to threaten Britain with the ending of its access to vital US market financing for its war effort if it failed to negotiate seriously for peace. But Wilson was dissuaded from urging peace on the negotiators by his political adviser Colonel House.

Krauthammer: ‘Seething’ Obama would welcome impeachment
A Fox News commentator whose background includes a stint as chief resident in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital says Barack Obama is “seething” over his election losses and likely will do something “reckless” – even to the point of provoking an impeachment proceeding so he once again can be the center of attention.
The comments from Charles Krauthammer came on Bill O’Reilly’s Fox News show.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Krauthammer is a columnist for the Washington Post and a contributing editor to the Weekly Standard. He has won many journalism awards, including the 2013 William F. Buckley Award for Media Excellence.
He was discussing with O’Reilly the Republicans domination of Tuesday’s midterm elections in which the GOP took control of the U.S. Senate and increased its margin in the U.S. House, building a majority described by the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee “as big as any we have seen in our lifetime.”
Obama, at a post-election news conference, denied Tuesdays result was a rejection of his policies.
“The principles that we’re fighting for, the things that motivate me every single day and motivate my staff every day … those things aren’t going to change,” he said.

The Kumbaya Temptation
Nov. 4 was a national vote of no confidence in Barack Obama. Had a British prime minister received a vote like this, he would have resigned by now.
The one issue on which all Republicans agreed, and all ran, was the rejection of Obama. And by fleeing from him, some even refusing to admit they voted for him, Democrats, too, were conceding that this election was about Obama, and that they were not to blame for his failures.
Yet, though this was a referendum on Obama and his policies, and though both were repudiated, some pundits are claiming that America voted for an "end to gridlock" and a new era of compromise and conciliation.
How so? If the American people were truly saying that, why did they vote to turn the Senate over to Mitch McConnell? Why did they vote to send more Republicans to strengthen the hand of John Boehner and those in the House who had "shut down" the government?
Did America vote for the GOP to go back to Washington and work with Obama? Or did America reward the GOP for promising to return and continue to oppose Obama's policies?
Is the answer not obvious?

Sen. Jeff Sessions: Congress Must Prohibit Funding for Unilateral Obama Amnesty
(CNSNews.com) - Granting "executive amnesty" to millions of people who came to the U.S. illegally "needs to be stopped," Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) told Fox News's Megyn Kelly Thursday night.
"Congress simply has to bar the expenditure of any money to carry out such a scheme because it would be a very expensive scheme," Sessions said.
"How do you shut down funding for a deferred prosecution?" Kelly asked.
"Well, it's real easy," Sessions replied. He noted that in granting deferred deportation for hundreds of thousands of young "dreamers," the Obama administration "gave those individuals ID cards with the words 'work authorization' on it, and gave them the power to take a job, which is improper and contrary to what the laws of the United States are.
"And so now the president is saying he's going to do up to five to six million more. And so Congress simply has to bar the expenditure of any money to carry out such a scheme because it would be a very expensive scheme. And we do that all the time."
(Sessions mentioned that the detention center at Guantanamo Bay would have closed a long time ago if Congress hadn't barred the president from spending money to do that.)

This may be the oldest surviving photo of a human
(CNN) — At first glance, it doesn’t seem that remarkable: An old black-and-white scene of a strangely deserted city, smudged in places by some primitive photographic process.
But this image, taken in Paris, France, in 1838, is believed to be the earliest known photograph featuring a person.
Look in the photo’s lower left corner and you’ll see a man getting his boots cleaned on the sidewalk. The boot-cleaner is there too, although he is harder to spot.
The image has been posted online before, but it gained a higher profile after news site Mashable published a full-page version on Wednesday in partnership with Retronaut, a website that archives photos from the past.

The image has been posted online before, but it gained a higher profile after news site Mashable published a full-page version on Wednesday in partnership with Retronaut, a website that archives photos from the past.
