OCPD And Worcester Co. Sherriff Crack Down On Drugs

During this Memorial Day weekend, the Ocean City Police Criminal Investigation Division and Narcotics Unit, as well as the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted multiple undercover drug enforcement operations at various locations in Ocean City. These plain clothes drug investigations resulted in eight felony arrests, one citation, and the seizure of various drugs and paraphernalia.

The following people were charged with various drug charges by Ocean City Police:
  • Shawn Matthew Gilmore, 25, of Ocean City, MD
  • 17-year-old juvenile male of Stevensville, MD
  • 16-year-old juvenile male of Easton, MD
  • James David Brooks, 25, of Snowshoe, PA
  • Danielle Clarissa Jones, 32, of Randallstown, MD
  • Rodney Lamont Burnett, 32, of Baltimore, MD
  • Thomas Edward Dalton, 27, of Bryans Road, MD
  • Jeremy Adam Thomas, 27, of Welcome, MD
Police seized approximately $600 in cash, a 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, assorted drug paraphernalia, and multiple controlled dangerous substances.

Citizens are encouraged not to buy, use or sell illegal drugs in Ocean City and Worcester County. Police remind citizens that undercover officers will be actively ensuring the safety of residents and visitors this summer on the boardwalk and throughout the town of Ocean City.

Patriots Defending America

Many of you may have been exposed to the nationally syndicated article relating to the 23 people shot in Chicago over the Memorial Day weekend.

For those who know no better, it seems to be more fuel for the fire for Obama’s Gun Control Crusade. But, as is usual with both Obama’s and the media’s efforts, they carefully place only a single piece of the entire puzzle under the spotlight.

For those who have been following the Gun Violence Facts series on “Patriots Defending America”, you have seen the referenced and verified statistics. The vast majority of gun and criminal violence is being conducted by minority males, in their mid-twenties or younger, involved in gangs or drugs, and typically with a long criminal record, and are located in low-income metropolitan areas.

The map with this article shows pinpoint locations of the 2,670 people that were shot in Chicago in 2012. Almost every shooting matched the qualifications that I stated in the prior paragraph.

With the map as a background, I searched the addresses of each shooting in the article that occurred over the Memorial Day weekend and placed a green dot for each shooting on the map. Not surprisingly, EVERY shooting that the article referenced occurred in the SAME area as the 2012 shootings.

Once more this validates our argument. Gun & Criminal Violence is not Blanketing the entire Country. It is occurring in Specific Locations and is Conducted by Specific Types of people.

We know where the problem is and we know who the problems are.

And, they are not law-abiding citizens with guns.

Drunk Driver Hits Pedestrian

Daniel Allen Marshman
On May 25, 2013, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Ocean City Police responded to a pedestrian collision on Baltimore Avenue north of 19th Street. The pedestrian, identified as Gina Marie Corio, 26, of Staten Island, NY was intoxicated, did not use a marked crosswalk and failed to yield to a vehicle when she was struck by an SUV driven by Daniel Allen Marshman, 46, of Gordonville, PA.

During the on-scene investigation, witnesses related to officers that Marshman, had been driving the vehicle at the time of the collision, Officers also suspected that Marshman was under the influence of alcohol. Officers, who suspected that Marshman was under the influence of alcohol, administered a field sobriety test, which he was not able to successfully complete. Marshman was charged with Driving under the influence of alcohol and agreed to a chemical test. The results of the test indicated a .15 Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC). Corio, who was also under the influence of alcohol, was cited for illegally being in the roadway.

Ocean City Police are committed to enforcing drunk driving and pedestrian safety. Police urge citizens to utilize the many safe modes of transportation available in the town of Ocean City. Citizens are also reminded to always use marked crosswalks and “Walk Smart”.

CSX: MD. TRAIN EXPLOSION CAUSED BY CHEMICAL CARGO

ROSEDALE, Md. (AP) — Train operator CSX Transportation on Wednesday pointed to a hazardous chemical in a rail car as the source of an explosion on a derailed train near Baltimore that sparked a fire, rattled homes and damaged buildings. A company spokesman said officials still weren't sure what caused the sodium chlorate to explode in the first place, but it ignited another chemical in a second car.

Robert Sumwalt, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, said investigators were examining evidence on the scene and reviewing train video that shows the collision with a garbage truck that led to the derailment. The fire that followed sent a plume of black and gray smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.

On Wednesday afternoon, workers were using heavy cranes to move the damaged rail cars, and an excavator was picking up broken pieces of track. The mangled truck lay on its side on the side of the railroad tracks, its contents littering the ground. Next to the track, the corrugated metal walls of a warehouse were bent and warped.

Former Md. U.S. Navy Reservist Pleads Guilty To Exploiting 30 Boys

WASHINGTON - A former U.S. Navy reservist from Maryland is pleading guilty to sexually exploiting more than 30 boys.

Anthony K. Mastrogiovanni, 30, of Crofton, Md., collected and produced child pornography, according to Department of Defense documents.

Between 2006 and 2012, Mastrogiovanni befriended the kids between the ages of 9 and 16 in Maryland and Louisiana, the documents say.

Americans Deserve The IRS

Individually, Americans do not deserve to be subservient to such a fear-mongering, intimidating and powerful agency as the Internal Revenue Service; but collectively, we do. Let's look at it.

Since the 1791 ratification of our Constitution, until well into the 1920s, federal spending as a percentage of gross domestic product never exceeded 5 percent, except during war. Today federal spending is 25 percent of our GDP. State and local government spending is about 15 percent of the GDP. That means government spends more than 40 cents of each dollar we earn. If we add government's regulatory burden, which is simply a disguised form of taxation, the government take is more than 50 percent of what we produce.

Farmer Acquitted Of Producing Milk Without License

It is a sad fact of modern life that seemingly everything is both heavily regulated by the government and politicized. This applies to, yes, even cow’s milk. Witness the case of Wisconsin farmer Vernon Hershberger, who was prosecuted for selling raw milk to willing consumers — in this case friends and neighbors:
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Jurors found Vernon Hershberger, a 41-year-old Loganville, Wis., farmer, innocent of producing milk without a license, selling milk and cheese products without a license, and operating a retail establishment without a license. He was found guilty of one count of breaking a holding order issued by the state in June 2010, which barred him from moving any of the food he produced without a license.

Sitting Inside A Tornado

Brandon Ivey and Sean Casey were in the above specialized tank-like vehicle called a tornado intercept vehicle.

A couple of storm chasers recorded the video below in Smith County, Kansas Monday afternoon.
They say the winds were blowing between 240-280 km/h. Strong enough to blow open a hatch, blow open a door and rip instruments off the top of the vehicle, but it did stay on the ground.

We ARE At War

We’re just too stupid and enervated to fight on our own behalf, or to acknowledge or even realize it.
The strategy has been called “voluntary apartheid.” The idea is to provide Muslim immigrants in the West — particularly, energetic young Muslims like the Tsarnaevs — with cultural, psychological, and even physical insulation from Western mores, traditions, and institutions. It was the bedrock of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna’s framework for ground-up revolution. In every city and town, the Egyptian academic taught, Muslim leaders must establish a mosque-cum-community center. These, he explained, would become “the axis of our movement,” serving as the “House of Dawa” — that is, of Islam’s particularly aggressive form of proselytism — and providing “the base for our rise…to educate us, prepare us, and supply our battalions.”

As McCarthy adds in the next paragraph: It is working. And we are losing. Here’s a list of cities in the Islamic Emirate now or soon to be lost to once-great Britain:
Many of the “no-go” zones function as microstates governed by Islamic Sharia law. Host-country authorities effectively have lost control in these areas and in many instances are unable to provide even basic public aid such as police, fire fighting and ambulance services.

The “no-go” areas are the by-product of decades of multicultural policies that have encouraged Muslim immigrants to create parallel societies and remain segregated rather than become integrated into their European host nations.

In Britain, for example, a Muslim group called Muslims Against the Crusades has launched a campaign to turn twelve British cities – including what it calls “Londonistan” – into independent Islamic states. The so-called Islamic Emirates would function as autonomous enclaves ruled by Islamic Sharia law and operate entirely outside British jurisprudence.

The Islamic Emirates Project names the British cities of Birmingham, Bradford, Derby, Dewsbury, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Sheffield, as well as Waltham Forest in northeast London and Tower Hamlets in East London as territories to be targeted for blanket Sharia rule.

That’s a partial list, of course, and it doesn’t even touch on the banlieues in Paris, or Stockholm (where people whose cars have been burned up by “youths” of apparently indeterminable extraction are now receiving parking tickets–no, really–in one of the most ludicrously outré examples of Western impotence and futility against thejihadists I can conceive of). And nobody here in the USSSA needs to be especially smug or sanguine about it, either–especially if he hasn’t been to Dearborn, Michigan lately.

Bill ran across a reminder of a few inconvenient truths that’s just as relevant today as it was when it was written, in 2006

Report Questions Health Care Premiums in Maryland

Elkridge, Md — A new report from the Maryland Hospital Association, Health Insurance Premiums: What are You Paying for? questions the huge difference between premium increases being sought by health insurance companies and the actual increases being allowed by the state insurance administration. The report also points out the lack of available information about how insurance premiums are set, and notes that Maryland insurance companies have had to repay millions of dollars they overcharged consumers under the new rules of federal health care reform.

According to the report:

• Premium increases requested by Maryland insurance companies so far in 2013 have ranged from 5.3 percent to 16.8 percent. Premium increases actually approved by the Administration for those requests were significantly lower – from 1.8 percent to 5.8 percent. In several cases, the approved premiums were less than a third of the request.

• Proposed premium increases recently filed under the state’s new health care reform-created insurance exchange are even higher, from 2.8 percent to 4.3 percent for the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, from 6.4 percent to 87.5 percent requested by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and from 29.4 percent to 120.4 percent increases requested by Aetna.

• Under the new rules of health care reform, health insurers overcharged Marylanders $22 million in 2012. Maryland health insurers ranked 11th largest in overcharge amounts among the 50 states, with an average rebate of $340 per covered family.

• Insurance company claims that premiums are increasing due to rising hospital prices don’t add up. Hospital revenues for all services have grown at low single-digit rates for several years. Hospital spending makes up nearly 40 percent of insurers’ costs; with hospital revenues growing at 5 percent or less, premium increases as high as 16 percent are difficult to explain.

"Maryland has a strong insurance administration with broad authority," said Carmela Coyle, President & CEO of the Maryland Hospital Association. "It is important for consumers and hospitals alike that the authority be fully exercised to scrutinize these exorbitant premium requests and the assumptions insurance companies are using to attempt to justify them."

About the Maryland Hospital Association
The Maryland Hospital Association is the advocate for Maryland’s hospitals, health systems, and their patients before legislative and regulatory bodies. Its membership is comprised of community and teaching hospitals, health systems, specialty hospitals, veterans’ hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Eric Holder Under Investigation By House Judiciary Committee For Lying Under Oath

With the euphoric market once again serving as a much needed distraction from far bigger geopolitical issues, many have forgotten the plethora of scandals the Obama administration has recently found itself engulfed in. This may change shortly, following news that the head of the US Department of Justice, Eric Holder himself, is now being investigated for lying under oath. Will he too receive an extended absence of leave (with pay) after pleading the fifth, or will the circle of lies slowly but surely start to unwind? Of course, in the New Normal it is probably not only expected, but given, that the chief legal enforcer is just a little more equal when it comes to the same justice he is tasked to enforce.

If attendance is not possible we would like to make alternative arrangements. We will be contacting blogs individually in the days ahead or you can reach the press contacts above as important announcements are forthcoming this week.  Our goal is to make County Executive Craig as accessible as possible to our state's leading blogs.   Thank you for the work you do - you are making Maryland work for us.

‘Rain Tax’ Falls All Over The Place: Stormwater Fees Uneven, From A Penny To Thousands

To comply or not to comply with the new so-called “rain tax”? There is no question.

The state’s 10 most populated counties are required by law to implement a stormwater utility fee by July 1. The revenue will be used to fund their respective watershed protection and restoration programs, designed to prevent pollutants from entering the Chesapeake Bay. Seven jurisdictions have set a fee, but three others are still in the process of setting fees or getting local approval.

The bill requiring the tax, HB 987, passed in 2012, left it up to counties to set the fees themselves. Here is the Maryland Department of the Environment’s explanation of the fees.

Main St Gym’s Calixto Brothers Invade Va.

With the Maryland State Jr. Olympic Boxing tournament wrapped up, three Maryland Champions from the Main St Gym advanced to the Regional Tournament in Chesapeake VA. It happens that they are all brothers and it created a little confusion when they got to the tournament.

The registration people could not seem to understand that there can be two brothers in the same weight class but in different ages division. Still the young boxers, along with Coach Hal Chernoff, took it in stride and can expect much more of that in the future since the three fightingCalixto brothers, Ivan, 15, Rudy,13, and Adams, 11, will more than likely continue their rise through the ranks in USA Boxing’s Jr competitions.

Ivan Calixo the oldest has been working very hard since the day he came in the gym and is really starting to make a name for himself. “Each time he fights he gets better and better so he contunes to advances. As he does he meets up with better and higher caliber boxers with more experience. Yet Ivan continues to show that his hard work is paying off. In Chesapeake VA last weekend he lost a very close decision against a very tough and highly experienced Troy Isley of Virginia. The two battled for three round with Calixto throwing solid body shots that caused Carpenter to lose his mouthpiece three times. In the third round the Referee stopped the bout to disqualify Isleyfor the three mouthpiece viloations, however a meeting of officials ensued the stoppage and adecision was made to let the bout continue, due to a technical rule stating that the referee did not give the appropriate caution warning for the first time that Carpenters mouthpiece came out. The bout continued and went to scorecards where Isley had the slightest edges to win the bout and move on to theNational Championshipsto be held in Mobil Alabama. “Evan definitely stepped up anther notch and with a fraction of the experience he made it a very close bout against one of the top guys in USA”said Coach Hal Chernoff. “ What I liked was that Ivan was listening better and kept very focused through the bout. That has been a problem in the past and sometimes he would just choose to battles and forget game plans. He didn’t do that this time and he said that he felt more relaxed and focused. The fact that he did so well against a past National Champion shows that his time is coming, I guarantee it”. Added Chernoff.

Younger brother Rudy Calixto, matched up again the best young boxer from Washington D.C,’s PotomacValley Association on Friday night and put together a very slick performance to earn him the right to fight in the Championship bout on Saturday. He met Virginia’s top 90lb boxer Travion Carpenter in the 13-14 year old division and put on a boxing clinic, as he used constant head movement to evade punches, then fakes and faints to set up clean one-two combinations, landing time after time. In the second round the doctor was called to the ring to check Carpenter’s nose, after a barrage of punches left his face bloodied. After a quick assessment the doctor allowed the contest to continue but Calixto continued hisassault on Carpenter winning on all 5 judges scorecards. With his fist place Gold medal in hand, Rudy Calixto had advancement as far as he could, since only 15 & 16 year old boxer are eligible to advance to the national level. But his performance this year is good indication that he is someone to watch closely in the future.

Adam Calixto the youngest of the three won his way to the Regional level and was awarded a walk over victory. So the three Main St Gym boxers came home with two gold medal and a fire to train harder for the next time.

Main St Gym will spend much of June competing in club shows around the east coats as the Calixtos and others boxers from the gym continue to gain more and more experience.

Congressman Harris Calls For A Further Investigation Into Misspent Stimulus Dollars In Maryland

Congressman Harris spoke with WBFF FOX 45 Baltimore last night about the story they broke last week regarding misspent stimulus dollars by Baltimore City and Prince George’s County Schools. The taxpayer dollars were intended for needy children but were spent on things like dinner cruises and a makeover day.

He will be using his position on the Committee on Appropriations to look into this matter further.

Watch the interview here
From Congressman Harris:

"Wasting taxpayer dollars intended for needy children on things like dinner cruises, makeovers, and theater performances is reprehensible. The people who showed such poor judgment need to be held accountable and the taxpayer needs to be repaid.

“The waste, fraud, and abuse that went on in the Maryland school system is exactly what makes the American people angry about government spending. Many are struggling to make ends meet in this tough economy. Marylanders have had to cut back, so when they read about school officials spending their hard-earned tax dollars on dinner cruises and makeovers, they have a right to be angry.

“Marylanders deserve better and that’s why I’m calling for an expanded review of the Maryland Department of Education’s use of federal tax dollars. From my position on the Committee on Appropriations, I will demand answers about how a $500 makeover day and $4352 for dinner cruises came to be; find out if the waste, fraud, and abuse goes further; hold the offenders accountable; and make sure any wasted taxpayer dollars are repaid.”

Most Illegal Immigrant Families Collect Welfare

Surprise, surprise; Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies.Even before the recession, immigrant households with children used welfare programs at consistently higher rates than natives, according to the extensive census data collected and analyzed by a nonpartisanWashington D.C. group dedicated to researching legal and illegal immigration in the U.S. The results, published this month in a lengthy report, are hardly surprising.Basically, the majority of households across the country benefitting from publicly-funded welfare programs are headed by immigrants, both legal and illegal. States where immigrant households with children have the highest welfare use rates are Arizona (62%), Texas, California and New York with 61% each and Pennsylvania(59%).The study focused on eight major welfare programs that cost the government $517 billion the year they were examined. They include Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the disabled, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), a nutritional program known as Women, Infants and Children (WIC), food stamps, free/reduced school lunch, public housing and health insurance for the poor (Medicaid).Food assistance and Medicaid are the programs most commonly used by illegal immigrants, mainly on behalf of their American-born children who get automatic citizenship. On the other hand, legal immigrant households take advantage of every available welfare program, according to the study, which attributes it to low education level and resulting low income. The highest rate of welfare recipients come from the Dominican Republic (82 %), Mexico and Guatemala (75%) and Ecuador (70%), according to the report, which says welfare use tends to be high for both new arrivals and established residents.

Confirmed: Obama’s Brother In Bed With Terrorists

It has been learned that the relationship between President Barack Obama’s half-brother Malik Obama and Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir is much closer thanpreviously thought. Malik is the Executive Secretary of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) as reported by all major Saudi press, including Okaz.

How significant is this?

Very significant. The IDO has been created by the Sudanese Government, which is considered by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist state. This places Malik Obama in bed with terrorists and working as an official with a terrorist state.

We have the evidence to prove it – meetings, photos, et. al.

Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on seven counts relating to crimes against humanity. As such, Bashir is the head of a country that the U.S. State Department has identified as a State Sponsor of terrorism, a designation issued in 1993.

WICOMICO COUNTY PRESCRIPTION DRUG DROP OFF BOXES SUCCESSFUL

(Salisbury, MD) Drug Free Wicomico, Wicomico County Prescription Drug Task Force, Culver Enterprises and the Wicomico County Health Department are excited to announce that four hundred eighty-one pounds of prescription drugs have been collected in Wicomico County since September 2012.  “We realized there was a need for stationary sites where people could anonymously dispose of unused and expired medications all year long.  Due to the hard work and diligence of many, we were able to launch the Prescription Medication Disposal program on August 30, 2012,” says Lori Brewster, Health Officer for Wicomico County.   “This would not have occurred without the commitment of the Enforcement Agencies, Drug Free Wicomico, the Wicomico County Prescription Drug Task Force, Culver Enterprises, and the Wicomico County Health Department who are committed to reducing prescription drug abuse and increasing the safety of our citizens in Wicomico County.  Four-hundred eighty-one pounds of prescription drugs are off our streets due to this collaborative effort!”
Wicomico County has four Prescription Medication Disposal sites for the community to safely and anonymously dispose of expired and unused prescription medications.  Sites and times are as follows:  Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00); Fruitland Police (Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00); Delmar Police (Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00); Salisbury Police (Monday-Sunday/24 hours a day).  Personal information should be removed from the original container prior to dropping it off at one of the sites.  Prescriptions drugs, over-the- counter medications, vitamins, and pet medications are accepted.  No liquids, needles, thermometers or bio-hazard materials are allowed.
Prescription medication abuse is a concern among communities across the United States.  Two-thirds of teens who report abuse of prescription medicine get them from friends, family and acquaintances.  Unintentional drug overdoses in the U.S. now outnumber traffic fatalities, and prescription drug abuse is the sad reason why.

Residents are encouraged to change their thinking about prescription drugs by monitoring, securing, and disposing of them:
Monitor:
  • *Start by noting how many pills are in each prescription bottle;
  • *Keep track of your refills;
  • *If your teen is prescribed a medicine, be sure to control it and monitor the dosages and refills;
  • *Make sure others, like grandparents, are aware of the risks. Encourage them to monitor their own medications;
  • *Talk to other families where your youth frequents about the importance of monitoring and safeguarding their medications.
Secure:
  • *Take prescription medications out of the medicine cabinet and put them in a locked cabinet and/or prescription lock box;
  • *Advise others of securing their medications as well.
Dispose:
  • *Discard expired or unused prescription and over-the-counter medicines at one of the four Wicomico County drop off locations;
  • *If throwing any medicines in the trash, dispose within undesirable substances, like kitty litter, coffee grounds, etc;
  • *Do not flush the medicine down the drain or toilet;
  • *Before disposing of prescription bottles, remove identifiable information from the prescription bottle to prevent unauthorized refills.
For more information or to get involved in the effort to reduce prescription drug use/abuse in Wicomico County, please contact the Wicomico County Health Department at (410) 219-7544.

Maciarello Makes Claim He Will Attempt To Get Stiffer Sentences For WCDC Assaults

Wicomico County States Attorney Matt Maciarello stated on WMDT that he is going to go after stiffer sentences on inmates assaulting the WCDC Staff.

However, (above) here is a case in which an inmate recently assaulted the staff. Her sentence, 10 days but here's the kicker. She got to spend them in jail on weekends. Nevertheless, it seems clear why.

I'll bet WMDT wishes they had this case in hand BEFORE they did the interview.

The Scorecard: 8,000 Wall Street Protesters Arrested, Zero Bankers

America really has become the “land of the thief, home of the slave.” While a minority of awake citizens desperately tries to shake their neighbors from their deep slumber, the masses continue to sit in front of the television, suck their thumbs and watch Desperate Housewives, while the oligarchs laugh incredulously at them all the way to the bank.

We all know that Attorney General Eric Holdercouldn’t find a guilty banker if it came up to him and sat on his lap, but these statistics are pretty amazing and a testament to how apathetic and lost of a culture we have become. This database of all the Occupy protestors arrested and whereit happened is pretty cool.

From the Huffington Post:

Here’s a fact that may make your blood boil: Nearly 8,000 Occupy Wall Streetprotesters have been arrested in association with the activist movement, while not one banker has been prosecuted for the actions that lead up to the country’s financial meltdown.

The website OccupyArrests.com has tracked 7,736 in 122 cities nationwide since the Occupy movement began in September 2011.

Should The U.S. Pull Out Of Chicago?

Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago compared to 221 killed in Iraq, and Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.

President: Barack Obama
Senator: Dick Durbin
Congressman: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Governor: Pat Quinn
House leader: Mike Madigan
Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Mayor: Rahm Emanuel

The leadership in Illinois - All Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.

Of course, they're all blaming each other.
Can’t blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
Can’t blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Can’t blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
Can’t blame Republicans; there aren't any!

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.
And he is going to “fix” Washington politics for us???
George Ryan is no longer governor; he is in prison. Of course he was replaced by Rod Blagojevich who is... that's right, also in prison. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned recently. That’s because he is fighting being sent to…right again, prison!

The Land of Lincoln, where governors make our license plates!!!!

75 More Trash Removal Systems Headed To Help The Wicomico River

Mayor James Ireton Jr. is pleased to announce a demonstration tomorrow at 1pm at the corner of Church Street and Isabella Street. He will be introducing the installation of 74 additional innovative  stormwater management products for the Wicomico River. The  FloGuard Plus Catch Basin Inset Filters will be installed at various  locations throughout the City. They are designed to catch the trash and runoff headed for the Wicomico River.

In support of efforts to improve the health of the Wicomico River, these
insert filters will decrease the amount of contaminants in storm water runoff. In May 2012, 31 of the inserts were installed. Since then, some the filters have had to be replaced due to the amount of petroleum runoff they have captured. There will now be over 100 collections systems in place.

The Inlet inserts, are supplied and installed by KriStar/Americast
Enterprises, Inc. This insert project is made possible through a grant
from Community Development Block Grant and the Federal HUD
program. Attached are the geographic locations and physical
descriptions of the trash collection systems.

Experts: Gas Tax Shift Means Virginia Will Attract Thrifty Drivers

Transportation experts expect Virginia prices to stay low and Maryland's to climb under their new plans.

"Virginia will remain one of the cheapest places in the country to buy gasoline," said Townsend. "In the out years, Maryland will become one of the most expensive places in the country to buy gasoline and will likely surpass D.C. with some of the highest gas prices around."

D.C.'s prices currently top its neighbors', with gas costing an average of $3.74 per gallon on Tuesday. Maryland was at $3.52, and Virginia averaged $3.39.
