Gay Activists Have Met Their Match With Muslim Barbers

So a lesbian walks into a Muslim barbershop, and asks for a “businessmen’s haircut”.

It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it really happened, and now a government agency called the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario will hear her complaint.

Faith McGregor is the lesbian who doesn’t like the girly cuts that they do at a salon. She wants the boy’s hairdo.

Omar Mahrouk is the owner of the Terminal Barber Shop in Toronto. He follows Shariah law, so he thinks women have cooties. As Mahrouk and the other barbers there say, they don’t believe in touching women other than their own wives.

But that’s what multiculturalism and unlimited immigration from illiberal countries means. A central pillar of many immigrant cultures is the second-class citizenship of women and gays.

So if we now believe in multiculturalism, and that our Canadian culture of tolerance isn’t any better than the Shariah culture of sex crimes and gender apartheid, who are we to complain when Omar Mahrouk takes us up on our promise that he can continue to practise his culture — lesbian haircuts be damned?

Hotel Guest Leaves Parents Nasty Note for Bringing 'Crying Baby' On Vacation

Recently, a mom and a dad and their baby went on a vacation. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? The family went to a ski resort in Colorado, where the brain surgeon dad had a conference, staying at a local hotel. And hotels, for those of you who have never been, have thin walls. During the night, the baby did what lots of babies do: cried. And the people staying next to the parents and the baby, understandably, weren't happy. But instead of talking to the front desk about a room change, they slipped an incredibly nasty letter -- anonymous, of course -- under the family's door, essentially telling them they were the worst people in the world and they completely ruined their vacation. How is that smackdown of a woman with cancer a victory for anyone?”

A Florida orthodontist has taken his case against Barack Obama’s “I’ve got a pen” plan of rule by executive order to a federal appeals court, challenging the president’s multiple and arbitrary changes to the deadlines in the Obamacare law.

“The Obama administration is desperate to keep us out of court, and I am confident that the 11th Circuit will rule that the lawsuit may continue,” said Larry Kawa of Kawa Orthodontics.

Oops: Oregon’s ObamaCare Exchange ‘Accidentally’ Signs Up 4,000 Illegal Aliens

Just a glitch.

Nearly 4,000 applicants for a state programthat provides undocumented immigrants with pregnancy services were instead enrolled in full Oregon Health Plan coverage, contrary to federal law, thanks to problems with the Cover Oregon health insurance exchange.

State officials say they discovered the problem several weeks ago and are correcting it.

But wait. The latest claim from Democrats is you can’t possibly be so cruel and mean to take away ObamaCare now that so many people are allegedly enrolled. But we guess this is too humiliating even for them. Oh, and by the way, why are illegals receiving pregnancy services on the taxpayer dime?

The pregnancy program goof, however, is just one of many little-known problems that Oregon Health Plan members, providers, care groups and state officials have wrestled with as Oregon’s system for enrolling people undergoes chaotic change.

Little-known, thanks to an uncurious media. Meanwhile, Cover Oregan has been plagued with incompetence from the start. If only there was a group of people who saw this stuff coming:

“It’s been a mess for us,” said Jeff Heatherington, CEO of Family Care, Inc., one of the organizations that cares for Oregon Health Plan members in the Portland area. “It makes it very difficult for us to tie families together in our database. We can’t identify them, so we have to go through and set up a new data structure internally and then match addresses — all of which have been hand-entered so they don’t necessarily match.”

House Rejects Plan To Index Minimum Wage To Inflation

House rejected 11 other amendments Wednesday pertaining to bill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —The minimum wage debate took center stage Wednesday in the House of Delegates, where legislators turned full force against Gov. Martin O'Malley's plan to index the minimum wage to inflation.

On Monday, a House committee passed the governor's bill that would raise the state's rate to $10.10 per hour over the next few years for minimum wage workers.

The bill went to the full House floor for its second reader on Wednesday, and only eight delegates voted to put an indexing provision back into the bill. Another 124 followed the House Economic Matters Committee's recommendations that were adopted Monday.

Rep. Dereck Davis, D-Prince George's County, the committee chair, said the Senate would almost certainly reject the provision. Del. Heather Mizeur, D-Montgomery County, urged delegates to vote for it anyway.

SEAFOOD LABELING LEGISLATION COULD POSE PROBLEMS FOR MARYLAND RESTAURANTS

ANNAPOLIS – Marylanders — lawmakers included — take their crabs very seriously, which prompted a legislative proposal that would let residents know when their “Maryland style” crabcakes aren’t the real deal.

Some members of the seafood and restaurant industries fear that legislation introduced in the state House of Delegates proposing tighter regulations on seafood labeling could be impractical and costly for Maryland restaurants.

Currently, the Maryland Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act as well as guidelines set in place by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration prohibit mislabeling of seafood products. But, in an effort to inform consumers about what they’re eating and where it’s coming from, legislation has been introduced in the House Environmental Matters Committee to propose even tighter regulations on the labeling of seafood products, such as the requirement that restaurants clearly display state of origin for all seafood and state or country of origin for crab products on a sign or menu.

Ex-Black Panther Freed 4 Decades After Cop Killing

A former leader of the Black Panthers has been released from prison more than four decades after being convicted of killing a Baltimore police officer.

Sixty-seven-year-old Marshall "Eddie" Conway was freed from the prison in Jessup on Tuesday. It came after state prosecutors agreed to change his life sentence to time served and probation.

Whiny People Sue Over Cross Shaped Memorial In Maryland

Why? Because they’re “offended”, and we wouldn’t want an itty bitty tiny number of people to be offended, so they have to ruin it for everyone

(Fox News) A humanist advocacy group has filed a federal lawsuit to remove a cross-shaped World War I memorial in Prince George’s County, alleging the display violates the First Amendment.

The American Humanist Association says it does not object to the fact that the Bladensburg Cross memorializes soldiers, but rather the placement of the Christian symbol on property owned by a government agency, The Daily Record reported.

“We are certainly recommending coming up with a monument inclusive of all religious groups,” said Monica Miller, a lawyer with the association’s Appignani Humanist Legal Center.

Which is a load of mule fritters, because they are demanding that the memorial be removed, rather than changed to include symbols from other religions. The memorial has been there since 1925, and is in honor of the 49 men from Prince George Country who were killed in WWI.

Candy-filled Easter baskets are one of the great Easter traditions, along with dying Easter eggs and holding Easter egg hunts. I am not one to complain about a basket full of candy (in fact, I wish every holiday had that tradition) but what if the basket could be improved upon? What if the basket, itself, was edible? Last week, two congressional committees issued a little-noticed report detailing how Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, and Health and Human Services officials conspired to create a massive new entitlement not authorized anywhere in federal law.

In the summer of 2012, the House of Representatives’ Committee on Oversight & Government Reform and Committee on Ways & Means launched an investigation to determine “whether IRS and Treasury conducted an adequate review of the statute and legislative history prior to coming to [the] conclusion that [the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's] premium subsidies would be allowed in federal exchanges.” Over the next 18 months, the committees held numerous hearings with senior Treasury and IRS officials, while investigative staff conducted interviews with key agency attorneys responsible for developing the regulations in question. RadioShack To Close Up To 1,100 Stores

(Reuters) - Struggling retailer RadioShack Corp reported a wider quarterly loss on Tuesday and said it will close up to 1,100 U.S. stores after a huge drop in sales over the holidays, sending the stock down more than 15 percent.

Sales at the Fort Worth, Texas-based chain have been in free fall amid executive departures, tough competition and an image problem. Despite its ubiquitous presence in the United States, analysts say it has not done enough to transform itself into a destination for mobile phone shoppers or become hip enough to woo younger shoppers.

Its net loss widened to $191.4 million, or $1.90 a share, in the fourth quarter, from $63.3 million, or 63 cents, a year earlier.

Senate OKs Bill To Stop Transgender Discrimination

The Maryland Senate passed legislation on Tuesday to prevent discrimination against people who are transgender.

The bill, approved on a 32-15 vote, would prevent discrimination on matters relating to housing, employment, credit and use of public accommodations such as hotels and restaurants.

The measure defines gender identity as the gender-related identity, appearance, expression or behavior of a person, regardless of the person's assigned sex at birth. In the legislation, gender identity can be demonstrated by "consistent and uniform assertion of the person's gender identity or any other evidence that the gender identity is sincerely held as part of the person's core identity."

60 Firefighters Face Layoffs In Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. -

The city of Fall River finds itself in a familiar spot, facing the possibility of significant layoffs in the fire department.

Mayor Will Flanagan is warning of significant staff reductions. About one-third of the city's firefighters are on the chopping block.

“I'm doing everything I can as mayor to prevent layoffs within the Fall River Department,” Flanagan told NBC 10 Monday.

Firefighters’ union president Jason Burns said, “It's a scary day. It's a scary thing.”

This all started 5 years ago. A budget mess back then meant big cuts. The fire department was reduced to 153 firefighters in 2009.

But temporary federal grant money brought the numbers back. Now that money is running out in June.

The city has not added funding to the budget to replace the expiring grant money.

“This is a difficult fiscal year for me,” Flanagan said.

Should a Christian florist be compelled to create and provide black floral arrangements to a hell-bound customer for her upcoming Satanist ritual?
Should a progressive environmentalist sign-maker be required to design and manufacture “Global Warming Is a Farce” signs for a tea party rally?
Should a Muslim photographer, commissioned by San Francisco’s “Folsom Street Fair,” be forced to document that vile event – rife with nudity and public sex – simply because the customers identify as gay?
Should a “gay married” lesbian hotel owner – a card-carrying member of GLAAD – be required, under threat of incarceration, to host and cater a fundraiser for the “National Organization for Marriage,” a group that opposes “marriage equality”?

Democrats Are Getting Destroyed In Key Senate States

Republicans have a large, 8-point advantage among voters in states with Senate races, according to a new Washington Post/ABC News poll released Tuesday.

Democrats hold a slight edge in the overall generic congressional ballot. But in the key battle for the Senate, Republicans lead the generic ballot by a 50-42 margin in states with a 2014 Senate race.

Republicans need to pick up six seats in November to retake control of the Senate, something that could instantly make President Barack Obama a lame duck president of sorts in his last two years.

Overall, 36 Senate seats are up in 2014: Twenty-one seats are currently held by a Democratic incumbent and 15 seats are held by a Republican.

Bill in House of Delegates Seeks To Link Gun, Criminal Registries

ANNAPOLIS — The House of Delegates is considering a bill that would link Maryland’s gun registry to its criminal database.

State law requires gun owners to surrender their weapons if they’re convicted of felonies or any violent crimes, but Del. Luiz Simmons, D-Montgomery, said Maryland State Police lack a systematic way of enforcing this. They can’t use their databases to identify gun owners convicted of crimes.

Simmons is chief sponsor of legislation to make that link.

State Police estimate that if they linked the databases, they would find 10 percent of registered gun owners — about 110,000 people — would be disqualified. They estimate a rate of 1 percent each year thereafter.

There's a new reason to put down that soft drink. In addition to causing weight gain and other health issues, canned beverages may be exposing your baby to cancer. A new study by doctors at the University of Illinois found that fetal exposure to a chemical called BPA makes men more susceptible to prostate cancer. That chemical acts like estrogen in the body, and it's commonly found in plastics and canned food and drinks. This is not the first study to document the dangers of BPA, and many plastic companies have already removed it from their products. However, the chemical is still being used to make food cans, beverage cans, paper receipts, and even dental sealants. So, you may want to think twice before picking up that next can of soda.

Moments ago, embattled ex-Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner appeared before Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee. She was supposedly there to answer questions about the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups. You may remember that President Obama has dismissed this entire scandal because he claims there wasn't "even a smidgen of corruption" involved.

That's weird, because Lois Lerner promptly invoked her rights under the 5th Amendment and refused to answer any questions. For the record, the 5th Amendment is the one that deals with not offering testimony that might incriminate yourself. You'd think that would be hard to do if the President's "not a smidgen" claim was true.

Man Suing McDonald’s For $1.5 Million Because He Only Got One Napkin With His Food

Anyone who’s ever used a fast food napkin knows that if you’ve got a real mess on your hands, often just one won’t do. But one man reportedly suing McDonald’s claims that when he asked for more napkins after only getting one with his meal, he was treated poorly. He’s suing for $1.5 million. In American dollars.

That money would buy a lot of napkins for the California customer who says he got short shrift on Jan. 29 after ordering a Quarter Pounder Deluxe, reports TMZ.

He claims that when he asked for more, a manager said no, insisting that he’d already gotten some.

Western North Dakota isn't a boom town just for oilers. Mailmen and women can make a mint, too. The Postal Service gives mail carriers pay raises up to 20 percent and $1000 bonuses. Newcomers will earn more than $21 an hour, plus benefits. The Postal Service says it will fill about 36 positions. Rapid population growth has led to long lines at post offices and late or undelivered mail. Donald Maston is executive committeeman for the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. He says even fast food restaurants in the area paid employees more than the postal service did before this agreement.

STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION PERFORMS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON FOUR MOVABLE BRIDGES THIS MONTH

Drivers Should Remain Alert for Work Crews and Minor Traffic Impacts

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) is performing routine maintenance on four State-maintained movable bridges during the month of March. Crews will work on site during the day and traffic may be impacted no longer than a normal opening for each bridge. Outlined below are the dates and times for the routine bridge maintenance:

• Friday, March 7:MD 181 (Compromise Street) Bridge over Spa Creek in Anne Arundel County, 8:30 a.m. to Noon, and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

• Thursday, March 12: US 50 Bridge over the Sinepuxent Bay (Harry W. Kelley Memorial Bridge) in Ocean City, Worcester County, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Monday, March 17: MD 331 Dover Bridge over the Choptank River at the Caroline / Talbot County line, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Thursday, March 27: MD 213 Bridge over the Chester River at the Queen Anne’s / Kent County line, 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Dates and time are weather dependent. This work is being performed as a part of bridge maintenance contracts with Covington Machine and Welding, Inc. of Annapolis.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving behavior to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!

On 4 March 2014 at 11:00 AM a deputy arrested Marquis Daquan Ballard, 19 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Ballard violated the terms of his probation following a conviction in an assault case. Ballard was detained without bond.

 On 4 March 2014 at 12:49 PM a deputy arrested Christopher Dale Friend, 25 of Monrovia, MD, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Friend failed to appear for a DUI trial. Friend was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $3,000.00 bond.

FDA: Generic Morning-After Pills Can Be Sold Off The Shelf Without Proof Of Buyer’s Age

When the Food and Drug Administration decided last year that the brand name version of the morning-after pill, Plan B, could be sold to anyone of any age without a prescription, it granted the drug’s manufacturer three years of protection from generic competition. The FDA has now reconsidered that concession.

The FDA announced its decision to increase access to generic versions of emergency contraception pills to anyone of any age, off the shelf without a prescription, in an 11-page letter (PDF) to manufacturers of the generic products(via NPR).

Black People Duped

People in the media and academia are mostly leftists hellbent on growing government and controlling our lives. Black people, their politicians and civil rights organizations have become unwitting accomplices. The leftist pretense of concern for the well-being of black people confers upon them an aura of moral superiority and, as such, gives more credibility to their calls for increasing government control over our lives.

Ordinary black people have been sold on the importance of electing blacks to high public office. After centuries of black people having been barred from high elected office, no decent American can have anything against their wider participation in our political system. For several decades, blacks have held significant political power, in the form of being mayors and dominant forces on city councils in major cities such as Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, Memphis, Tenn., Atlanta, Baltimore, New Orleans, Oakland, Calif., Newark, N.J., and Cincinnati. In these cities, blacks have held administrative offices such as school superintendent, school principal and chief of police. Plus, there’s the precedent-setting fact of there being 44 black members of Congress and a black president.

The Justice Department is suing Sprint Communications for $63 million. Prosecutors say Sprint overcharged agencies $21 million for court-ordered wiretaps. Justice is seeking treble damages. The suit alleges Sprint bilked the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and other agencies. 

A 1994 law required carriers to upgrade their equipment so they could comply with wiretapping orders. It took until 2006 for the FCC to rule the government didn't have to pay for the upgrades. The Justice suit alleges Sprint charged for them anyhow from 2007 to 2010.

Molon Labe: Connecticut Gun Group Issues Ultimatum To Government

Either enforce gun ban or repeal law

After gun owners in Connecticut revolted against a gun control law by refusing to register their assault rifles and high capacity magazines, one Second Amendment group is calling on the government to either enforce gun confiscation or repeal the law in full.

Following the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, Connecticut passed a law which banned ammunition magazines capable of carrying more than 10 rounds. Residents who had acquired such magazines before the law came into effect were mandated to register them with state police by January 1, 2014. The law also banned assault rifles manufactured after 1994, requiring them to be declared to authorities.

Weeks after the deadline expired, authorities revealed that just 50,016 assault weapons and 38,290 ammunition magazines had been registered, meaning that some 320,000 assault rifles and around 2.4 million high capacity magazines were not declared.

Now the Second Amendment organization Connecticut Carry is calling on authorities to “enforce the tyranny they passed or repeal it entirely.”

DC's Green-Approved Buildings Using More Energy

Washington, D.C. may have the highest number of certified green buildings in the country, but research by Environmental Policy Alliance suggests it might not be doing much good.

The free-market group analyzed the first round of energy usage data released by city officials Friday and found that large, privately-owned buildings that received the green energy certification Leadership in Energy Design (LEED) actually use more energy than buildings that didn’t receive this green stamp of approval.

LEED is the brainchild of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a private environmental group.

Vietnam Veterans Sue The Military

Vietnam veterans sue the military over its treatment of their post-traumatic stress. The vets say the Army, Air Force and Navy failed to recognize that their disorders developed during their military service. They got other-than-honorable discharges. With that black mark, they could not get benefits. The lawsuit seeks class-action status. It accuses the Pentagon of refusing to re-evaluate Vietnam-era vets' medical conditions, despite better understanding of PTSD. A Pentagon spokesman says the department doesn't comment on pending litigation. He says it has taken steps to address concerns about the disorder, including assessing service members at military treatment facilities.

Police Dept. Covers Up Its NSA-Style, Warrantless Cell Phone Tracking

Device captures private cell data from innocent third-parties not involved in investigation

Florida police used a cell phone tracking device at least 200 times without a warrant because they conspired with the device manufacturer to keep its use a secret, according to the ACLU.

Through a recent motion for public access, the ACLU determined that at least one Florida police department never told judges about its use of the cell phone tracking device, known as a “stingray,” because the department signed a non-disclosure agreement with the stingray’s manufacturer to keep its use from being publicly known.

The manufacturer, which the ACLU said was likely a Florida-based company, also retained ownership of its stingrays and only let the department borrow them, further aiding in its secrecy.

Connecticut Veteran Says "I Will Not Comply" To Unconstitutional Gun Laws

Sen. Colburn Request Oyster Shell Purchase Policy Change

ANNAPOLIS – State Senator Richard F. Colburn (R-Eastern Shore) announced today that he has sent a letter to Department of Natural Resources Acting Secretary Joseph Gill requesting a change in DNR’s oyster shell purchase program. In his letter Senator Colburn stated, “I am writing with a request regarding the fresh oyster shell purchase policy currently in place for Maryland counties. Current policy only allows counties to purchase fresh shell through Horns Point; however, many counties have expressed their opposition to this policy including Dorchester County. There are currently only 60,000 bushels of fresh shell available through Horns Point. Florida fossilized shell has been purchased, however, the counties are opposed to this type of shell due to the weight and composition of the shell. Therefore I would like to request that the current policy be changed to allow the counties to purchase fresh shell from Virginia as there are 200,000 bushels available for purchase. It should also be noted that the counties have purchased Virginia shell in the past.”

Also in the letter dated March 4th, Senator Colburn requested an update on the request to extend the oyster harvest season until April 30th.

$10M Gold Treasure Found By Couple May Have Been Stolen From US Mint, They Could Lose It All

File this one under: “knowing when to keep your mouth shut”

The California couple who we reported found the largest gold treasure horde in history may now lose every dime. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the gold they found buried in rusty cans may have been stolen from the U.S. Mint. The coins have a face value that adds up to $27,000, but the total value of what is being called the Saddle Ridge Horde is estimated to be at $10 million.

A search of the Haithi Trust Digital Library found by a fishing guide and historian named Jack Trout revealed the news about the alleged theft. Trout claims there is evidence that one specifically rare 1866 Liberty $20 gold piece was part of the buried stash, and alone it is worth about $1m.
