Back in March 2009 I put up a Post about Energy Saving Windows And Tax Credits. My friend Bob Harris owns the company that provides very reasonably priced replacement windows and shared an interesting telephone call he received earlier today.
An woman called and said she had read about his windows and would like to place an order. She then asked, how far do you go to replace windows? They replied, well, we usually install them on the Eastern Shore, how far away are you. The woman replied, CALIFORNIA.
California, just how did you hear about our windows. She replied, www.sbynews.com. Unfortunately they weren't able to service her request but they sure did like the attention from one free ad on Salisbury News.

Robinson Makes The News AGAIN!
The Daily Times featured John Robinson this weekend in their newspaper boasting about all these new business ventures he and his Wife have been getting into. One of them is a new indoor skate park. Another Blogger was kind enough to apparently provide photos of the newly renovated building and an outdoor skating area that WAS fenced in, until today.
It seems the wide spread attention brought forth the head Inspector for Wicomico County in which Robinson once again didn't file for permits and broke several laws. One of which was the new fencing he had just installed without permission.
Word has it he is outside right now screaming and yelling, throwing fits and demolishing the brand new fence as the County demanded it come down immediate. Why the urgency, it turns out Robinson blocked off the Fire Lane access to the back of the building and if there was a fire, no one would have been able to get to the rear of the building.
I'm sorry Folks but this Idiot never ceases to crack me up to no end. Karma John Robinson, Karma! ROTFLMAO! We'll have an update of violations tomorrow some time. For once I'm actually pleased at the Daily Times work. John, "YOU'VE BEEN BLOGGED!"

I received a call from J.D Lyons, (the man in the tux) telling me how much he loves Salisbury News and especially the photos we provide.
He asked if he could have a few of them for his Face Book Page and of course we provided them.
During our conversation he went on to say how he has been announcing fights and other sporting events for the past 15 years now and he has NEVER experienced a better crowd that Salisbury, Maryland.
He went on to mention to me that Brian "The Assassin" was supposed to weigh 170 pounds before the fight, (in which he was close) but he weighed 180 pounds just before he entered the ring.

Town Of Hebron Violates Charter Requirement
The Town voted on a UNBALANCED Hebron Budget which was passed last week. The Town's Charter REQUIRES a balanced budget.
For some reason, the staff and Commissioners "forgot" about their Charter requirement! Word has it they're going to possibly have a re-do on the budget to get it balanced.

On Saturday June 20, 2009 Salisbury Police Officers were called to 712 Alvin Avenue about an assault in progress. Officers witnessed Johnathon Johns attacking a man who was lying on the sidewalk. The man was George Johns, father of Johnathon, who had massive head trauma. Johnathon Johns admitted to attacking his father and made the statement "he deserved it". Johnathon Johns was arrested and taken to WCDC Central Booking. He refused to talk with the district court commissioner and was put on a temporary committment. Johnathon Johns was to be taken to district court on June 22, 2009 for an apperance before the judge.
Johnathon Johns has been charged multiple times since 1990 for violent crimes against others and found to be not compentent for his crimes. He was committed to various mental institutions for treatment each time.
George Johns is in intensive care at PRMC. I feel very sorry for him and his family. It is very hard for any father to love their children no matter what. Our prayers will be with you and your son.

Narrative: On 21 June 2009 at 5:01 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Montez Scott for speeding on Old Ocean City Road. A Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office K9 team assisted and conducted a scan for the presence of the odor of illegal drugs, during which the K9 alerted positively to that odor. Based on the alert, the deputy searched both the vehicle and subsequently Scott, and discovered marijuana in Scott’s possession.
Scott was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Disposition was unavailable.

Narrative: On 22 June 2009 at 1:06 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a bicyclist, later identified as Clarence Jones, for traffic infractions committed by Jones. Instead, Jones began pedaling rapidly in an attempt to flee from the deputy. The deputy chased Jones on foot and caught up to Jones on Dennis Street. When the deputy attempted to place Jones into custody, he yelled loudly and struggled against the deputy’s efforts, causing residents to come and see the commotion.
The deputy managed to take Jones into custody and discovered that Jones had amphetamine pills in his possession. Jones was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Jones was detained by the Commissioner in the Detention Center in lieu of $7,500.00 bond.

Narrative: On 15 June 2009 at 10:30 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault that had taken place inside a residential youth facility in the 22000 block of Royal Oak Road in Quantico. Upon arrival, the deputy met with employees of the facility who stated that one of the residents, Jimmie Lincoln, had become involved in a verbal altercation with another resident when Lincoln assaulted that other resident. One of the employees of the facility attempted to intervene and stop the assault, but was instead assaulted by Lincoln. The deputy observed injuries on the employee consistent with the assault.
The deputy placed Lincoln under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Lincoln was detained by the Commissioner in lieu of $3,000.00 bond.

Local Man Needs Your Blood
As some may have already heard, there was a severe accident Saturday in Bishopville. One of the victims of this accident, William Bruce Somers, is currently in critical condition at PRMC and is in desperate need of blood.
Apparently, they will cut a patient off at a certain amount of units of blood and he is coming close to that point. If you are able to donate blood, please donate on behalf of William Bruce Somers, the family would be eternally grateful.

Wicomico Equestrian Center Anniversary Horse Show Returns to Salisbury for its 13th Year
(Salisbury, MD) Over 300 horses and ponies from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia will be in attendance and participate at the 13th Annual Wicomico Equestrian Horse Show. The Wicomico Equestrian Center at Winterplace Park (6742 Blue Ribbon Road Salisbury, MD 21804) will host the show on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 beginning at 8:00am both days. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Wicomico Equestrian Horse Show will feature an English and Western Classes competition as well as a Breed Classes competition. There will also be exhibitors from the mid-Atlantic region, food and retail vendors.
The media is invited to preview the event during move in on Friday afternoon at 2pm. Interviews and filming opportunities will be available. For more information please contact Stanley Morris at 443-783-0019.

Talk about a control freak! Chief Webster goes away for a Honeymoon while the citizens of Salisbury are placed on hold because there is no crime and there are no gangs, so just wait until I get back so I can pick and choose just what I want you to see.
It has been 10 days since we've seen any kind of Press release from the Salisbury Police Department and I don't know about you but I'm feeling less safe every day that passes and this guy is still the Chief of Police.
Is there anyone else out there besides the typical Barrie Tilghman, Lynn Cathcart and a few others that actually like this man and appreciate his work? I know the new Mayor has a lot on his plate but once again the citizens are in the back seat and crime is not an issue to take lightly here in Salisbury any more.
Some stats say Salisbury is the 9th most dangerous city in America.I can hear the Chief now, well, someone has to be in 9th place somewhere. What I'd like to know is who is the jackass who keeps accrediting the SPD when crime is so high, the Chief only allows the citizens to see what he wants them to see and ten days go by before any crime information is released.
If he worked for me directly, he would have been fired years ago.
MARYLAND STATE POLICE HELICOPTERS RESCUE 12 FROM RAGING RIVER
(Harpers Ferry, WVA) – One dozen people, most of whom were children, are likely tired but thankful this morning after they were rescued from the raging waters of the Shenandoah River late last night when two Maryland State Police helicopters appeared out of the darkness and hoisted them to safety.
The stranded victims are said to have included ten children and two adults, ranging in age from four to 41 years old. The Maryland State Police does not have the identity of the victims. They were released to the care of the Friendship Fire Department from Jefferson County West Virginia after they were rescued.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. yesterday, Jefferson County Fire and Rescue received a call from someone who heard people screaming for help in the Shenandoah River near Bull Falls, not far from Harpers Ferry. The Friendship Fire Department responded to the scene and found that the raging waters and large number of rocks in the river at that location prevented any type of rescue by boat or rope line. The fire department called for help from the Maryland State Police Aviation Command.
Trooper 3 from Frederick was dispatched to the scene with Pilot Russ Zullick and flight paramedic Sergeant Donald Lehman on board. When the crew arrived on scene, they called for Trooper 5 from Cumberland to assist with hoist operations.
The scene was dark and dangerous. A mountain was on one side of the river bank and trees were along the river on the other side. There were also trees growing from rock islands in the middle of the river.
Using their spotlight to illuminate the area below, the crew of Trooper 3 began their rescues with victims clinging to a rock that was only one foot above the river rapids. The children were being splashed by the water and appeared to be in imminent danger of hypothermia and exposure. Hovering over the scene, Pilot Zullick and Sgt. Lehman dropped the rescue basket to the rocks four times and hoisted five victims into the helicopter. The victims were flown to an elementary school in Harpers Ferry where they were turned over to fire and EMS personnel.
Trooper 5 from Cumberland arrived on the scene, with the crew of Pilot Scott Russell, Training Pilot Chris Pysz, and flight paramedic Trooper First Class Larry Levasseur. Also on board were two members of the Cumberland Fire Department HEAT Team who are trained in aerial rescue operations.
While Trooper 3 was off-loading patients, the crew of Trooper 5 took over rescue operations for the remaining victims. TFC Levasseur repeatedly dropped the rescue basket to the victims clinging to rocks throughout the river. Three more victims were taken to the landing zone for treatment and Trooper 5 returned to the river and hoisted the remaining four victims to safety.
All the victims are expected to survive their ordeal. It is believed the group had been rafting or tubing in the river when the fast moving rapids caused them to become stranded on the rocks.
TRAFFIC ALERT
Inbound Rehoboth Avenue Extended Closed For Paving Wednesday, June 24
Rain Date to be Thursday, June 25
Rehoboth Beach -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that in order to complete paving work at the Church Street intersection it will detour the inbound lane of Route 1A/Rehoboth Avenue Extended on Wednesday, June 24. The outbound lane of Rehoboth Avenue Extended will be open at all times and is not impacted by the work.
Consequently, the two turn lanes from Route 1 accessing Rehoboth Avenue Extended will be closed, and motorists will need to use the Route 1B/State Road exit to enter Rehoboth. This closure allows for the completion of paving work for Rehoboth Avenue Extended from Route 1 to the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal drawbridge. Paving work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. This work is weather dependent, and if inclement weather occurs, the work will be done on Thursday June 25.
Access to businesses in the area of the closure will be maintained during the work, but motorists must access them from Route 1B/State Road and then head north on Rehoboth Avenue Extended.
Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists. The detour directs motorists to stay in the right hand lane on Route 1 south, and continue straight going over the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal Bridge, turning right onto Route 1B, and follow signs along State Road into Rehoboth.

Rehoboth Beach -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that in order to complete paving work at the Church Street intersection it will detour the inbound lane of Route 1A/Rehoboth Avenue Extended on Wednesday, June 24. The outbound lane of Rehoboth Avenue Extended will be open at all times and is not impacted by the work.
Consequently, the two turn lanes from Route 1 accessing Rehoboth Avenue Extended will be closed, and motorists will need to use the Route 1B/State Road exit to enter Rehoboth. This closure allows for the completion of paving work for Rehoboth Avenue Extended from Route 1 to the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal drawbridge. Paving work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. This work is weather dependent, and if inclement weather occurs, the work will be done on Thursday June 25.
Access to businesses in the area of the closure will be maintained during the work, but motorists must access them from Route 1B/State Road and then head north on Rehoboth Avenue Extended.
Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists. The detour directs motorists to stay in the right hand lane on Route 1 south, and continue straight going over the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal Bridge, turning right onto Route 1B, and follow signs along State Road into Rehoboth.

Dying Girl Granted Wish To See 'Up'
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (June 19) -- Colby Curtin got her final wish.
The 10-year-old girl desperately wanted to see the new Disney-Pixar movie, "Up." But the cancer-stricken girl was too sick to go to a theater.
Thanks to a family friend who got in touch with the movie studio Pixar, an employee of the Emeryville-based company arrived at Colby's home with a DVD copy of the movie, The Orange County Register reported Friday. The girl died later that night.
Colby's mother, Lisa, said she had asked her daughter if she could hang on until the movie arrived.
"I'm ready (to die), but I'm going to wait for the movie," she said her daughter replied.

Will Facebook Members Welcome Upcoming Inbox Changes?
Facebook has been embroiled in controversy for much of 2009. In February, the social networking site tinkered with its Terms of Service and members immediately revolted, claiming the changes would give the site perpetual ownership of posted content. A month later, Facebook made some homepage alterations, which also resulted in immediate and heated criticism.
The site recently posted news of more upcoming changes (detailed here), this time to members' inboxes. So far, though, judging from the thousands of thumbs-up responses, people seem to be overwhelmingly in favor of the updates. The changes -- which will be implemented in "coming weeks" -- include smoothing over the presently clumsy interface, the introduction of message filters, and the addition of a spam alert. With the modifications, you'll also be able to consolidate messages from fan groups and events with updates from friends and family members. Thanks, Facebook, you've brought your inbox functionality up to that of webmail circa 2002.
Despite the nearly constant negativity surrounding the site's changes over the past few months, Facebook finally seems to be regaining some positive fan momentum, especially with its long-awaited allowance of personal URLs. Bravo. [From: Facebook]
Obama Job Approval Slips To 58 Percent

PRINCETON, N.J. (June 21) - President Barack Obama's job approval rating fell to 58% in Gallup Poll daily tracking from June 16-18 -- a new low for Obama in Gallup tracking, although not dissimilar to the 59% he has received on four other occasions.
Thirty-three percent of Americans now disapprove of the job Obama is doing as president, just one point shy of his record-high 34% disapproval score from early June.

Friday Night Fights Part III
It was certainly a night to remember. Five great fights and while everyone was on the edge of their seats in the first round, Brian "The Assassin" Norman pounded Fernando with some body shots that anyone watching would think, just how long could Fernando take those punches. Instead, Fernando started returning the body shots and this guy had no clue what he was in for.
In the Press Conference weeks before the fight I challenged the Brian "The Assassin Norman after taking smack and I said, what makes you so different from all the others that came to Salisbury and said they would defeat Fernando. He said he was stronger and more experienced. I responded by saying, you have no clue what you're in for and I was right.
Before the fight, several fans asked me what I thought and honest to God I replied, two rounds, it will be over in two rounds. Low and behold, I was right again. Fernando knocked him down in the first round and quite frankly I was very surprised when the Ref let him go on. They were able to finish the round but when Fernando connected again in the second round it was all over. He went in for the knock out and punished his so fast and furious the Ref had finally seen enough after the second knock down.
Alex was yet another pleasure to watch. His fierce body shots were extremely punishing and I was surprised his opponent was able to hang in there for four rounds. Alex took a couple of decent shots but he seriously controlled the fight from the very beginning.
Shawn Porter, now that's an unbelievable fighter too. This kid is another fighter to keep a close eye on. He's very shy and quiet but man, when he puts those gloves on and starts hitting you, WOW! I called him Mini Mike Tyson. He smiled and said, man, no one has ever called me that.
Hal Chernoff and Prize Fight Boxing delivered once again and we were very pleased to see it as crowded as it was by the time Fernando's fight came about. There was a concern if they'd sell enough tickets to break even but as the night went on there were very few seats left in the Civic Center.
We'd like to thank ALL of you for coming out and supporting the Main Street Gym and Prize Fight Boxing. It was very clear that they didn't need Showtime or ESPN to fill the Civic Center and I can guarantee you one thing, there isn't a person who attended that didn't feel they got their money's worth!

Billboard cartel says no to questioning ObamaTrade group, headed by Democrat donor, discouraged acceptance of eligibility ad
WASHINGTON – A fourth billboard company has rejected a campaign designed to raise visibility on questions surrounding Barack Obama's eligibility for office– this time by claiming the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, a trade and lobbying group that claims to promote freedom of speech, actually discouraged acceptance.
Just one day after WND broke the story of CBS' rejection of the eligibility billboard campaign, the OAAA issued a press release defending the decision.
Since OAAA's job is lobbying for influence in Washington and negotiating the hurdles of a heavily regulated industry, it is understandable, said Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND and the initiator of billboard effort, that it jumped to the defense of the president."We simply reported the fact that this giant media conglomerate, that Rush Limbaugh would probably characterize as part of the 'state-run media,' was doing what we have witnessed the Big Media do over and over again – protect Obama at all costs."
"It's understandable," he said. "It's even predictable. But it is not moral. It is not right. It is not ethical. It is not in the spirit of a vigorous and free and independent media. These guys are looking for favors from government.

60 Minutes Has No Class
While I enjoy Andy Rooney and many of the stories 60 Minutes provides, one thing I don't enjoy is the commercials.
When you have an 8 year old sitting in the living room watching 60 Minutes, the next thing you know they go to a commercial discussing erectile dysfunction. Contact your Doctor if you're erection lasts too long.
Come on now, do they think these children are already in bed while on summer vacation? So when your 8 year old says, what's an erection, what do you tell the little guy! What happened to the Pepsi Commercials or Coca Cola?
Look, I just think they should save these kind of commercials to at least 9:00 PM or so and the TV Networks should simply act like Americans do have children and consider them FIRST. This is one reason why this Country has so many issues.
Oh, don't come back feeding me the First Amendment crap. There's a time and a place and more importantly everyone should be more responsible with their First Amendment rights.
