Officer Involved Shooting In Salisbury

Early this morning I received a call from a friend telling me that they had come home to Salisbury at around 3:00 AM. They were coming down Camden when they came upon a scene in which the road was closed but the area was light up like daylight, yet no one would tell them what was going on.

I finally found out what went down and it was very similar to what happened recently in Princess Anne.

It turns out a drunk driver had struck a couple of vehicles. The Police were called and when they caught up with the vehicle it turned into a high speed chase. Unfortunately TWO Salisbury Police Cruisers were totalled last night, yeah, like they need that, right.

Nevertheless, the drunk driver wrecked and refused to follow police commands and put the vehicle in reverse and attempted to get away. Feeling threatened Officers opened fire on the vehicle and struck the driver in the leg.

I did make attempts to contact the Police but never received a return phone call. In the mean time we got the information, (as usual) without the help of local authorities. No Officers were injured, so we're told.

Socialist Party Member - Hollande wins French presidency over Sarkozy, Greek Voters Also Turn On Leaders

LATE BREAKING NEWS! Outgoing French President Nicolas Sarkozy addressed supporters at the headquarters of his Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party after the preliminary results of the second round of the presidential elections were announced in Paris on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The first results showed a 52 percent lead for Socialist Party candidate Francois Hollande.

Mr. Hollande wants to renegotiate a hard-won European treaty on budget cuts that Germany’s Angela Merkel and Mr. Sarkozy had championed. He wants more government stimulus and more government spending in general despite concerns from markets that France urgently needs to trim its huge debts.

In light of this late breaking event - I anticipate that the US stock market will be poised to open down as European debt concerns continue to weigh heavily on the US stock market.

More Than 15 Percent Still Paying Back Student Loans at Age 50, Economics Professor Says

Many college students are not earning enough to pay back their student loans, because they choose majors that pay too little upon graduation, and 15 percent of college grads are still paying back student loans at age 50, Peter Morici, University of Maryland Economics Professor, said Thursday.

College graduates owe on average $25,000 when they finish school, Morici said, and in some cases, graduates can rack up debt close to six figures.

“You know, if you go to a liberal arts college, and your family has reasonably decent means, but not enough to qualify for really substantial financial aid, you can get up close to six figures if you work at it, though it’s unusual. The bottom line is though is that graduates are not earning enough money to reasonably service their loans in many majors,” he said.

What Makes A Great Leader?

It's often been said that some people are born leaders. The question is, will those people lead their business, institution, congregation, or whatever group they head to greater heights of success and fulfillment? Or will they use their position simply as a means to further their own personal agenda and goals?

Headlines might make you think the latter is the more common scenario, that excessive greed and a “me first” attitude have become the mantra of today’s leaders.

But I don’t believe it.

71 Percent of Top Companies Could Drop Insurance Under Obamacare

A report from the House Ways and Means Committee finds that 71 of the nation’s top 100 companies would find it far more economical to drop their health care plans and simply pay the penalty for not complying with the Obamacare employer insurance mandate.

The report, published May 1, surveyed 71 of the 100 companies in the Fortune 100 list of large corporations and finds that all of them would save considerable amounts of money by dropping their health care coverage instead of complying with the Obamacare insurance mandate.

“According to data provided by the 71 Fortune 100 companies that responded to the inquiry, they could save a total of $28.6 billion in 2014 alone if they stopped offering health insurance to their U.S. employees and instead paid the employer mandate penalty for not doing so,” the report said.

"And quite frankly, I don't see much of a distinction beyond that." (Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal.)

Allen West: Obama’s Economic Policies Are ‘Destroying the Black Community’

President Obama’s economic policies are “destroying the black community,” Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said Friday afternoon.

In a message on his Facebook page, West wrote:
As a Member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the House Small Business Committee, I am seriously concerned with the 13 percent unemployment number for Black Americans. The failed economic policies of President Obama are destroying the black community and lessening the chances for economic freedom while promoting economic dependence. Perhaps this is what the NAACP was afraid to hear me address.
The statement from the outspoken House GOP freshman comes on the heels of the Labor Department’s April unemployment report, which was released in the morning. The nation’s jobless rate fell to 8.1 percent in April, but the economy added only 115,000 jobs last month.

The Way The Economy Works

Democrats Fantasizing About Retaking the House

After a monumental 2010 midterm election that saw them swept from power, Congressional Democrats are fantasizing again about holding the levers of the House of Representatives.

Politico's Arena has a discussion among both Democrat and Republican legislators that sees a surprising optimism for Democrats. This comes in the wake of John Boehner putting Dems' chances at about one-in-three.

Democrat Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio thinks the Ryan budget will be the GOP's millstone, claiming they want to "dismantle" Medicare. (If only, right?) The hat-loving Rep. Frederica Wilson dips into delusion, saying that Republicans "are intentionally starving efforts to jump start the economy" - as if the GOP holding one-half of one of three government branches gives them ultimate control.

Ohio Court Reverses $2 Billion Judgment Against Ford

The Ohio Court of Appeals reversed a $2 billion judgment against Ford Motor Co this week and ordered a new trial for a group of dealers who said the No. 2 U.S. automaker overcharged them for commercial trucks over an 11-year period.

In its Thursday ruling, the appeals court said the contract at the heart of the dealers' class-action suit was "ambiguous." It also said evidence submitted by Ford was wrongly excluded.

"We hold that the trial court abused its discretion in excluding Ford's mitigating evidence at the damages trial," the court said in its ruling.

Ford disclosed the reversal in a quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Black Farmers' Quest for Justice Draws to a Close

After decades of discrimination and years of legal wrangling, black American farmers are rushing to beat a May 11 deadline to file racial discrimination claims against the U.S. Department of Agriculture over its lending practices.

Many of them missed an earlier deadline to file claims for part of what has become a $1.25 billion settlement resulting from a 2008 federal farm bill and subsequent congressional action.

For those filing claims to shares of the settlement fund before the new May 11 deadline — as many as 40,000 farmers and their heirs — there is a sense of relief, if not of justice.

"Justice is a very personal thing," said the farmers' co-lead counsel, Gregorio Francis of Florida-based Morgan & Morgan PA.

"Many of these farmers lost their land and their livelihoods. With the settlement, there seems to be a sense that finally there's at least an acknowledgement of what was done. In that sense, there's gratitude. Is there justice? I don't know."

NJ Judge to Decide if Text Sender Liable for Crash

A New Jersey judge will likely soon decide whether a woman who sent a text message to a male friend can be held liable for a car crash he caused while reading the message.

The Daily Record reports the legal question stems from a lawsuit filed by two Dover residents who were seriously injured when a 19-year-old driver crashed into their motorcycle in September 2009. The driver received three motor vehicle citations and pleaded guilty earlier this year.

The victim's lawyer claims the woman aided and abetted the driver's negligence by texting him when she knew or should have known he was driving.

But her lawyer is seeking to have her dismissed as a defendant, saying she had no control over when the driver would read the message.

Rare White Buffalo Sacred to Some in Native American Community Killed and Skinned

The Hunt County Sheriff's Department is among several agencies investigating the gruesome death of a rare white buffalo, born nearly a year ago on a ranch near Greenville, Texas.

Lakota Buffalo Ranch owner Arby Little Soldier said he and his wife returned from out of town to find the calf, considered sacred by some in the Native American community, killed and skinned. The next day its mother was also found dead.

The non-albino white buffalo was named Lightning Medicine Cloud in a special ceremony last summer. The chance of a white buffalo birth is said to be 1 in 10 million.

"My people – my brothers, my sisters – are hurt for what has happened here at this ranch," Little Soldier said. "You don't think things like this are going to happen to such a sacred animal, a sacred family."

Civil War Shipwreck Creates Hurdle for Government's $653M Plan

Before government engineers can deepen one of the nation's busiest seaports to accommodate future trade, they first need to remove a $14 million obstacle from the past -- a Confederate warship rotting on the Savannah River bottom for nearly 150 years.

Confederate troops scuttled the ironclad CSS Georgia to prevent its capture by Gen. William T. Sherman when his Union troops took Savannah in December 1864. It's been on the river bottom ever since.

Now, the Civil War shipwreck sits in the way of a government agency's $653 million plan to deepen the waterway that links the nation's fourth-busiest container port to the Atlantic Ocean. The ship's remains are considered so historically significant that dredging the river is prohibited within 50 feet of the wreckage.

U.S. Revamps Student Work-Visa Program After Abuses

The State Department announced major changes Friday to one of its premier cultural-exchange programs following an investigation by The Associated Press that found widespread abuses.

The agency issued new rules for the J-1 Summer Work and Travel Program, which brings more than 100,000 foreign college students to the United States each year.

The changes are the latest in a series of steps the State Department has taken to fix the program since the 2010 AP investigation. The investigation found that some participants were working in strip clubs, not always willingly, while others were put in living and working conditions they compared to indentured servitude.

80 Watch KSM Arraignment At Fort Meade

Moans, sighs and exclamations erupted Saturday as relatives of Sept. 11 victims watched four closed-circuit TV feeds from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, that showed the self-proclaimed mastermind of the attacks and co-defendants trying to slow their arraignment, a move that drew outbursts from viewers of "c'mon, are you kidding me?"

"It's actually a joke, it feels ridiculous," said Jim Riches, whose firefighter son, Jimmy, died at the World Trade Center. Riches watched the hearing from a movie theater at Fort Hamilton in New York City, one of four U.S. military bases where the arraignment was broadcast live for victims' family members, survivors and emergency personnel who responded to the attacks.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the other defendants were arraigned on charges that include terrorism and murder, the first time in more than three years that they appeared in public. During the hearing, they generally refused to cooperate. At one point, one detainee leafed through a copy of The Economist magazine, then passed it to another. At other times, defendants knelt in prayer.

National Christmas Tree has Died, is Removed

The National Park Service says the National Christmas Tree planted near the White House a year ago has died.

Park service officials say the Colorado blue spruce was lost due to "transplant shock." It came from a tree farm in New Jersey last year and was planted on the Ellipse just south of the White House in March 2011.

The tree replaced a tree that had stood on the Ellipse since 1978 but was destroyed by high winds in
February 2011.

After cutting away the lower branches, workers removed the dead tree Saturday.

What Are They Thinking?

Joe,

We got these one each door step of the apartments we live in. I can't understand why they would think the sales of some of these names would be acceptable on their menu. I find it rather disturbing they would hand these menus out to the public considering most would find this disgusting and unacceptable.

You Are Deceived, Manipulated And Disrespected

In 2010, in order to get his healthcare bill passed,President Obama lied about and demonizeddoctors because the great majority of them opposedhis healthcare bill.

Please review the document below:

This document is the actual web site posting by Trailblazer, a private company, whichperforms administrative functions for Medicare. This documentsimply shows the actual amount of the payment Medicare made to surgeons who performedfoot or lower leg amputations backin 2010. The payment Medicare made to each surgeon for a foot or lower leg amputation was approximately $1000.

Now click the link below to watch our president give one of his crafty healthcare speeches in 2010:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG56B2et4M8

Obama made the assertion that a surgeonwas paid 30, 40 or 50 thousand dollars for amputation of a foot (lower leg)! However, you now know that the true figure is approximately $1,000. Clearly, Obama lied. The total cost of a lower leg amputation might be as high as 30 thousand dollars, but the great majority of the 30K or 40K or 50K goes to the hospital, not the surgeon.

Obama also stated Medicare pays the doctor immediately. Actually, it takes weeks, months or years for a doctor to receive payment from Medicare. Obama lied yet again.

In that single video you saw Obama make two false claims about surgeons. And, notice he did it with his charming smile, smooth-as-silk delivery, and the appearance of empathy for the people. He attempted to deceive you and marginalize doctors. Was he successful?

Watch another video below to see how he demonized doctors who perform tonsillectomies on children:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm9jdDHdFV0

In this video, Obamasaid doctors “a lot of times, are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that is out there.” To illustrate this, he used the scenario of your child having repeated sore throats. Obama then said that, when the doctor is deciding whether to treat your child with an antibiotic or surgery, the doctor says to himself, “I make a lot more money if I take this kid’s tonsils out.” I know of no doctor with this evil mindset.

Obviously, Obama has a very low opinion of doctors, and he wantsyou to have the same. He believes doctors, in order to simply make more money, would choose to put your child through the pain and suffering and risks of surgery, even if an antibiotic could have worked just as well. It is no wonder he feels a need to rule over the health care professions. Of course, regarding the mindset of physicians, he is delusional. Was he brainwashed during his leftist indoctrinations?

Here you have seen in these two videos that your president, the man who promised to unite all Americans, slandered and demonized doctors. Some of you have difficulty believing Obama would lie like thisbecause you consider him an individual of high moral standing. He appears to be a great father and family man. It appears that he strives to help the downtrodden. However, once you understand a bit about the psychology of ethical thinking, you will understand the apparent paradox inside our president.

Like many liberals, Obama uses utilitarian ethical thinking rather than deontological ethical thinking. With deontological ethics, a lie is always evil, regardless of the consequences that follow that lie. With utilitarian ethics, a lie isevil only if the consequences that follow it are undesirable. With utilitarian ethics, if the consequences that follow a lie are desirable, then the lie is good and therefore perfectly moral. Obama lied about doctors because he believed doing so would aid him in winning the support of the American people for passage of his healthcare bill. Although the American Medical Association (AMA) supported passage of the bill, the great majority of doctors opposed it (only 16% of doctors are members of the AMA).Obama believed he was perfectly moral in lying about and demonizing doctors because he believed it would result in “the greater good.” So please understand that Obama feels perfectly comfortable lying to you all day long; he believes it is his duty to do so, provided it helps him achieve the “greater good.”

The question is: For how long will you allow yourself and your loved ones to be deceived, manipulated and disrespected as such.
