Obamas Car on Ebay - Buy It Now $1,000,000

Obamas Car in the News

Obamas Car on Ebay

On Comcast's homepage, there is a link to a FOX news interview.

Apparently Obama's Chrysler 300 is for sale on Ebay for a Buy It Now Price of 1 million dollars!
They said the bids are already over 100,000.00.

10 More County Employees To Be FIRED

There are around 10 additional Employees still working for the County in which Rick Pollitt stated very clearly today and a Press Conference, "These people will be fired!"

They started off calling it the Landfill Scandal. Davis Ruark stated the $430,000.00 stolen actually came to around $300,000.00 from Ray Lewis and others. There's around $100,000.00+ that was stolen by other County Employees STILL WORKING FOR THE COUNTY. These Employees will be terminated within the next few days but they couldn't release names at this point and time due to personnel laws.

I brought up several questions referencing Mr. Rai Sharma and his liability/responsibility to the thefts, since he kind of walked out flying under the radar. I felt it was important for taxpayers to have closure to this case as well as where things stand with Mr. Sharma. Rick & Davis both expressed how no one involved ever said that Rai had his hands in it or had any knowledge to any of the thefts. I asked, as a businessman, if I had lost $400,000.00, I would know it right away. Was there a significant amount of fuel increases from one year to the next in which Rai should have noticed? Davis replied, YES. I then said, are we talking double, perhaps triple the amount of fuel from one year to the next? Davis replied, at least double. He added that Mr. Sharma was responsible for that department and should have known about it. Mind you, this had been going on for 3 to 4 years.

I then asked Mr. pollitt, the taxpayers want some kind of accountability and there doesn't seem to be real closure here. What, if anything will happen to Mr. Sharma? He replied, Mr. Sharma ultimately sacrificed his job. Rick went on to explain how he wanted every County Employee to know that if they see any other suspicious activity to please come directly to him personally and he will handle it right away. The County plans on creating a Hot Line for Employees to call in tips as well.

Hopefully in the near future we can provide the names of those individuals that were terminated from the County. These are individuals that stole fuel, many of which had purchased diesel trucks and regularly filled their tanks for free. Or should I say, at taxpayers expense.

One Down, One To Go

Joe,
We found Cloe (the golden brown one) this morning in the woods. We still haven't found Zoey (the black one). Lost in Delmar. Please keep your eyes out for this dog.

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALISBURY MAYOR TOHOLD PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY

Salisbury Mayor Barrie P. Tilghman will hold a press conference at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon (Friday, January 16, 2009). The intent of the press conference is to provide a briefing on the history and purpose of the Waverly Drive Stormwater project.
The press conference will be held in Conference Room 305 of the City-County Government Office Building (125 N. Division Street).
Isn't it very odd that every time Jim Ireton does something, the Mayor has a press conference or release hastily scheduled the day before. Remember the 4% Crime is down press conference the day before he announced. Now this on the Waverly outfall pipes... Does it make you wonder why Gary Comegys isn't doing any of this????
93 more days Folks, unless she comes out of nowhere and announces she's running again? Jim, take this as a compliment. You know, kinda like I just took it as a compliment that the Daily Times stole one of my articles today. It's cool, she's an Idiot too.

IF YOU SIMPLY MUST BE WITH BARACK TOMORROW

In Maryland, he will be making two stops – Baltimore and Edgewood. The latter will be a brief "whistle" stop and he will say "hi" from the back of the train (OK, he will probably pontificate, too). Here’s info if you want to avoid the chaos that will surely occur in Baltimore:

Gates to the Edgewood Train Station will open at noon (parking is very limited) . The train station entrance is at 2127 Old Edgewood Rd., just off US Rt. 40, then take the SHUTTLE BUS running from Edgewood High School (2415 Willoughby Beach Rd.) to the station. The train is scheduled to arrive at approximately 2:30 pm -- allow time to pass through security.

Apparently, Biden will be at the event in Baltimore only – it starts at 4:15 PM. If you decide join the chaos in Charm City, you will probably have to park at the lots by the Orioles and Ravens stadiums. And, if you go, prepare to almost freeze, folks.

PS -- security will probably prohibit any containers, possibly backpacks, too.

O. M. G!!!!!

You have to CHECK THIS OUT!

Here's a taste of what you'll see.

Parent objects to 'hoopla' of schools' presidential events
By Sarah Lake • Staff writer • January 16, 2009

BERLIN -- A concerned parent is planning to pull her child out of school Tuesday because of what she calls "biased, politically motivated hoopla."

The day of the inauguration, Buckingham Elementary School, along with many other schools on the Lower Shore, plan to conduct activities they say will provide a valuable educational experience for students. Buckingham in particular has scheduled a viewing of the inauguration for President-elect Barack Obama in the cafeteria; the entire school is expected to watch.

"At BES, we are a learning community," said Principal Roger Pacella. "We believe that both our students and staff will benefit from viewing the inauguration -- an opportunity to understand and celebrate our great democratic tradition."

HELLOOOOOO! I want to thank my Parents, my Wife, my Children, my Grandson and ALL of the Visitors to Salisbury News for this unbelievable award. What can I say, I'm speechless. Most of all I'd like to thank God for sending me down the path of leadership in order to set examples for others. LOL! I think I missed the link back to Salisbury News on this article. Did I miss it? Maybe I was reading too fast?

Notice how the Daily Times conveniently left out the red, white and blue clothing and or their Sundays Finest. IMHO, this is pitiful reporting because it doesn't give you the entire picture of what the BOE is doing.

Mayor McDermott Responds... Pocomoke Citizen News Blackout Continues...

On January 6th I emailed Mayor McDermott after reading a 'State of the City' report by him that was on the Daily Times website. In this article he lauded the progress that the city has made during the past year, and I asked him if we would submit one to the Tattler.

This morning I recieved this response...

Stephanie,
Thank you for the offer of posting articles, etc. on your site. I try and make news articles and all press releases available on the city website for those who are interested.

Sincerely,
Mike

UMMMH Ok...

So, I went to the City's website and on the front page is all of the happy horse sh*t about what a great town we have, and I scanned the page for a 'News' link, this is the what is posted on that link as of today:

PCity Website

then, I went to the good Mayor's Blog and found this:

mayorswebsite1-15-09.JPG

So, Dear Citizens this is the latest news that 'Boss Hogg' wants you to know.

This is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!

Mr. Mayor, I am completely flabbergasted. You have got to be kidding!

You are the man who ran on the campaign promises of open government.

You are the man who talked about open communication being the key to success!

Yet, when the kitchen has got too hot here in Pocomoke you disengage, and start courting the Salisbury audience by addressing your public from a dying newspaper that doesn't cover enough Pocomoke News to warrant a subscription .

You are the Mayor of Pocomoke. If you want to be State Delegate, that is fine, but you are alienating all of those who supported you in successfully obtaining public office in the first place.

In the 'Tell it to the Mayor' section made for you; there remain several unanswered questions from people who are truly interested.

The Tattler gave you the opportunity to engage in real debate that could be read by your supporters and detractors alike. It is a shame that you choose not to participate any longer and that you would think that these multiple month old postings will sufice for news.

Give us a break!

I'm not stupid and neither are the citizens of the town over which you have been elected to be an ambassador.

If the people of Pocomoke City were un-interested then I don't think that we would have over 2000 page views per day!

Just because people don't come to the meetings of the Mayor and Council does not mean they are not interested; it means that they are busy, and is exactly why we have pushed to try and have them webcast.

As for your radio show, only people in certain sectors of the population are able to listen to the radio at 10:00 AM on Wednesday mornings.

And just like newspapers, commercial radio is and has lost it's grip in the marketplace for effective communication. Both are going the way of the dinosaurs and are being replaced by the internet, as sattelite radio is what folks listen to in their cars and the web is second behind TV where people get their news and information.

Once again the line is drawn between the 'Elect Few' and the 'Commoners'.

Thanks for nothing!

Circuit City To Liquidate, Adding To U.S. Job Losses

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- After failing to secure financing from creditors and lenders, bankrupt electronics vendor Circuit City Stores Inc. said Friday that it will liquidate, joining the list of retailers like Linens 'n Things that are closing up shop due to the economic downturn.

Big Post At Exactly 1:11 PM Today

Oh, you're going to LOVE this one Folks!

DiCarlo Digital Copy Center Offers Their Services For Brooke

"Joe,

Good morning!

I was talking with my brother Joey from DiCarlo Digital Copy Center last night about the Brooke Mulford Benefit tonight, while we were talking I received a phone call asking if I knew anyone who could print flyers for the Seacrets benefit they are having for her.

Joey overheard me and said we will print flyers, banners, posters whatever is needed to help. So he got to work early today and started printing flyers and posters so we have stuff to hand out tonight at the bonfire!"

So everyone knows, there is a benefit for Brooke Mulford at SEACRETS on March 7th, 2009. This thing is going to be unbelievable, so mark it on your calender. More to come on that later.....

Is It Just Me?

Or are you getting the feeling we're catching this scene far too often lately? Watch your wallets Folks because you can expect the SFD to come to Council asking for even more perks. I heard the new Fire Trucks were coming in this week and that the bid on the old Ladder truck is at $3,500.00? The tools alone on that Ladder Truck are worth more than $35,000.00!!!!! Pittsville thinks they'll be able to get that Truck for $5,000.00, according to one commenter.

So how do YOU feel about selling a Ladder Truck probably worth $30,000.00 to $40,000.00 for just $5,000.00? Here's another thing I find QUITE INTERESTING! How does ANYONE, (including me) know that the sealed bids were up to $3,500.00????? Let's see if I can put two and two together. Paul Wilber is the attorney for the City of Salisbury, right? Isn't Paul Wilber the attorney for Pittsville too? I'm not suggesting Mr. Wilber has anything to do with it but that's the first thing that came to my mind, how about you?

A Warning To ALL Local Drivers

"The Guidance Counselor I work with just told me the following this morning that happened to his wife yesterday at the Kmart light and today at the ATM on Nanticoke and RR 50.

She was on RR 50 at the Kmart light yesterday morning, (she works at Salisbury School) and was looking at something in the car when her daughter asked Mommy "who is that." A man with a blanket over his head bent down to open the front passenger door and she then hit the auto lock button to lock the doors. He then veered off on another path.

Then, today she was at the ATM, PNC Bank at Nanticoke and RR 50 and after she received her money, a man got between her car and the machine and asked her for some money.

With the weather so cold, it's a scary time. Please be careful and stay alert."

14th Annual Delmarva Classic This Weekend At The Wicomico Civic Center

(Salisbury, MD) The 14th annual Delmarva Classic is bringing 18 teams to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center this weekend in high school wrestling action.

More than 18 state-ranked wrestlers from Maryland and Delaware will be competing in this year’s tournament. The Delmarva Classic has consistently ranked among the top 10 toughest public school tournaments offered in Maryland, and this year is no exception.

Three-time Maryland private schools champion Andrew Bannister (130 lbs.) returns to seek his third Delmarva Classic crown, and could possibly meet MD 2A/1A #1-ranked Joe Kidwell of Arundel in the finals. Alex Thomas (189 lbs.) of Sussex Tech seeks his third Delmarva Classic title as well. Sussex Tech will also seek to defend its team title, with strong bids from Milford, Easton, and Calvert expected.

Host school Wi-Hi will send undefeated Nick Leto (152 lbs), who placed third in MD’s 2A/1A state championships last year, in search of the first Delmarva Classic title for Wi-Hi since the inaugural tournament in 1996. The tournament has seen 6 state champions fail to win the Delmarva Classic in the year they won states.

Each day will cost $10 and a weekend pass will cost $15. We will have the entire lower bowl of the Civic Center – the seating configuration will allow for almost 1,100 seats. Finally, seating won’t be a problem!

Weigh-ins will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with wrestling starting at 2:45 and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, and finals are slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

JUST IN THE KNICK OF TIME!

"Joe,

Would you believe, a teacher and great family friend told us this last night?

"I have been asking for a tv in my room for three years and never got one. Would you believe one showed up today? Although it was not new and was way before the time of remotes I did get one"

They are digging these things up out of storage, attics and everywhere now. I wonder, just wonder, if this has anything to do with allowing all kids to watch tv in class this tuesday. Lets make sure not one kid misses this.....You got to love it, what a disaster!

Thanks,

News No Longer Newspaper's Forte

According to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, the Internet has now surpassed all other media except television as an outlet for national and international news. Currently, 40% of the survey respondents say they get most of their news about national and international issues from the internet, up from just 24% in September 2007. For the first time in a Pew survey, more people say they rely mostly on the internet for news than cite newspapers. Television continues to be cited most frequently as a main source for national and international news.

Sometimes our Govt. just Sucks!

American initiative and the ability of Americans to improvise is hard to beat. The internet comes along and we learn to communicate with those worlds away at the speed of light. When our economy goes in the toilet we tighten up our belts and move on. Some folks have even gone so far as to blend their own bio-diesel to try to save a few dollars in order to make ends meet when fuel prices were going through the roof. But click on this link http://mlis.state.md.us/2009rs/billfile/SB0093.htm and I think you'll agree that we're looking at another example of when Americans face adverse conditions and adapt in an attempt to overcome said adversity, the govt. is right there to make sure they can make some money from it - knowing all well it will hurt you even more. This is the kind of thing we need to remember when the supporters of these types of bills come up for re-election.

Remember what Reagan said when speaking of overbearing govt...."If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Well it would appear that these Representatives are trying to get the first two objectives taken care of promptly.

How dare we try to deprive them of a few tax dollars so that we can pay our bills! When will we ever learn?

Sheriff Mike Lewis Speaks Out About The Massive Fight At The Regal Cinemas In Salisbury

"Joe-

Inasmuch as I’d prefer to continue with important tasks at hand, I’ve felt it necessary to stop and respond to allegations of inaction by members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office in Saturday night’s assault of a female outside of the Regal Cinemas in Salisbury. First of all, I was there! The following is an accurate account of what occurred. It’s not exaggerated or embellished as has been reported in a previous letter to you.

I chose to attend the ten o’clock showing of “The Unborn” with my thirteen year old daughter and another member of my staff, Chief Deputy Gary Baker. We located three seats together, near the back of the theater in the next to the last row. The theater was alive with a talkative group of moviegoers in the last row who continued socializing, cracking gum and using their cell phones while the movie was showing. Although we found this disruptive, we still attempted to ignore them and enjoy our movie. After all, there were nearly four hundred fifty people inside this theater and only about a dozen or so appeared to be disruptive. Over the years, I’ve found this to be the best course of action if viewing a movie with my daughter.

Suddenly, from a seat directly in front of me, a teenage female stood up and demanded “Stop cracking that f------ gum.” This prompted a number of profanity laced comments directed towards the teenager from a number of kids from the disruptive group. These comments quickly died out but the loud cracking of gum persisted. I saw no popcorn being thrown and there was no one kicking anyone’s seat as previously reported. At no time did we witness a criminal offense or an arrestable offense which warranted police action.

Towards the end of the movie, the teenager seated within arm’s length of me, obviously frustrated, stood up and quickly exited the theater-leaving behind another female friend with whom she was seated. Minutes later, she returned to her seat. Shortly thereafter, two uniformed Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies entered the theater and stood on either side near the back. As the movie concluded and the lights came on, the theater emptied out in an orderly fashion while we stopped to talk with the sheriff’s deputies.

While talking with my two deputies, an employee of Regal Cinemas came into the theater and reported a large fight outside. Almost simultaneously, and from one of two deputies’ radios, I overheard a dispatcher from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office notify deputies of a large fight in progress involving 75-100 people in front of the Regal Cinemas. As we quickly proceeded towards the front where the fight was reported, I secured my daughter near the concession stand and Chief Baker and I proceeded outside with our deputies.

Once outside, we found a female in the rain standing on her feet. She was obviously distraught and reported that she had just been beaten by a group of teenagers-the same ones she had exchanged words with inside the theater. She said they had been waiting for her outside. There were no obvious signs of injuries and there were no suspects in sight. According to bystanders, someone hollered “the cops are coming” which prompted the suspects to flee.

Within two minutes, there were seven uniformed sheriff deputies on the scene. We stood with the victim and comforted the victim until Salisbury Police Officers arrived on the scene to conduct their investigation. As a direct result of a long-standing jurisdictional agreement and relationship with the City of Salisbury, the Salisbury Police Department investigates all crimes which occur within their jurisdictional boundaries except those occurring in the presence of sheriff’s deputies. We handle our own cases including those occurring within the city should they occur within our presence.

Obviously, this was not the case. The victim’s assault wasn’t witnessed by any law enforcement personnel. She was never denied law enforcement services. In fact, it was quite the contrary. She was contacted and comforted while being questioned about the identity of the suspects while awaiting the arrival of the Salisbury Police. At no time did a sheriff’s deputy refuse or fail to take action because of “jurisdictional boundaries.”

I was there Joe and I witnessed the aforementioned events unfold!

I have attended dozens of movies over the years at the Hoyt Theaters and the Regal Cinemas 16 Cineplex, and I’ve always enjoyed myself. However, I’ve never witnessed a level of disruption during any movie as I witnessed Saturday night during the showing of “The unborn”.

Chief Baker and I have since met with the management of Regal Cinemas to discuss this incident. We learned that whenever a rated PG-13 horror movie is released, there is an acceptable level of disruption which frequently occurs during the viewings. I learned that this is a common occurrence when teenagers under the age of seventeen attend these showings without parental supervision as was witnessed by me Saturday night.

However, the violence associated in the brutal attack of the female teenager is unacceptable. I have spoken with the victim’s mother on at least two occasions and I’ve assured her that the Salisbury Police Department will assist her daughter in identifying and arresting those responsible for this cowardly act. I have also spoken to Chief Allan Webster who is making sure that proper steps are being taken to hold these thugs accountable. Right now, with the invaluable assistance of the victim, suspects have been identified and will be soon arrested.

Should you or your viewers have any questions of me or my sheriff’s deputies, please don’t hesitate to contact me @ 410-548-4891 or via email @ mikelewis@wicomicocounty.org

Thanks Joe!

Michael A. Lewis
Sheriff
Wicomico County"

As many will recall, I had a Post up two days ago referencing a Brother coming to his Sisters rescue. I had received an e-mail from the Brother explaining what had happened.
After I put up the Post I even made a remark after several comments that I had been at this, (blogging) for 3 years now and I could tell when one person was making numerous comments. IMO, I felt it was the Brother making very harsh remarks about the Sheriff's Department. I sent Sheriff Lewis a text message asking him to look at the Post because I was concerned this was headed in the wrong direction and something was clearly wrong.

Sheriff Lewis read the Post and comments and immediately contacted me while Chief Baker joined Sheriff Lewis on speaker phone. They both explained to me how they were there that night and sat right behind the young lady who had been injured/assaulted. You know the story now, (above). Once I heard the whole story I knew the Sister had lied to the Brother and in fact the Mother read the Post and comments and actually attempted to make a comment stating her Son had several of the facts wrong but I had already pulled the Post and her comment never saw the light of day.

I have received numerous comments and e-mail messages asking me what had happened to the Post as many seemed touched and concerned and now you know why I pulled it. The story the Brother told was quite different from the one Chief Baker and Sheriff Lewis witnessed. Freak as it was, they were right behind this young lady the entire time and knew exactly what had happened. I pulled the Post because the Brother was becoming irate because I stopped allowing his comments up and he just became very angry. Hopefully he now sees what truly happened at the Theater and understands why I took the Post down. While I'm proud of him sticking up for his Sister, as I would do, things aren't always what were told and emotions can sometimes get the best of us.

I respect Sheriff Lewis' word as well as Chief Baker's word. The Brother was making it sound like the Police were doing everything wrong. Little did he know two of the biggest names in the Police Business were right there in the very same Theater.

My sincere thanks goes to Sheriff Lewis for drafting this message. I personally believe it's the very first step in the right direction as I have always felt Department Heads should defend their positions when necessary. There was no favoritism played whatsoever when I chose to pull the Post. I did what I felt was the proper thing to do and I never coached or asked Sheriff Lewis to draft this message. In fact I'm very surprised, yet also very pleased he chose to do so.

A CECIL COUNTY SPCA COMMENT THAT MUST BE EXPOSED

"PROPAGANDA. Do you think they shot KITTENS??

Cry about if the guy makes more money than you. This is the only HUMANe thing I've ever seen from the SPCA. Its not like they tortured and killed the cats in cold blood... they put them down, without all the complications of putting them "to sleep".

I hate the SPCA, normally. All those green faced liberals believe that animals are more important than PEOPLE (for all you green faced liberals out there, yes, you are part of the human race, too). SPCA commercials ask for 18 dollars a month... How about a fraction of that to help starving PEOPLE in africa or even our own nation? Animal lovers: they're "so horribly gut wrenching that i don't even know what to think."

Cluster Development In Hebron Striving With Wildlife

"Hi Joe;

First let me say I really enjoy your website.

I live on my family farm (in the family since circa 1860) near Hebron. I was at the Blackwater transfer station last Saturday and a neighbor was there at the same time and told me that beavers were living in the borrow pits around the transfer station. I investigated and sure enough there is lots of evidence that they are there and thriving.

Looks to me that "cluster development" is not hurting anything! Now we have beavers, ground hogs, turkeys, etc!!

I took some pics with my camera phone and would be glad to share them with you or would also love to give you a tour of the area.

My neighbor called DNR who said they would trap and move them. What a shame---they are not damaging anything--not damming streams etc..

Bob"

Puppies, Puppies, Puppies!

There are several people out there reading this Post and viewing these puppies that are proud owners of previous litters from the Albero Ranch. We had six puppies this go around, five males and one female.
They're 4 1/2 weeks old now, eyes open, walking, playing and barking like only puppies can do. If you're interested in a Yorkie, we still have some males available. Just e-mail me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com.

Pre-K School Drawing

Here is what my daughter did today in Pre-k. Not too much of a big deal, because she knows who he is, but doesn't have the adult criticism tied to it.

Waste @ the Worcester County Health Department

The Worcester County Health Department in Snow Hill is less than five years old.
During the construction they apparently hired a landscape contractor to landscape the new building. They planted bushes around the building and contrasted them with rock.
It was very simple but very nice.
At some point recently they must have hired someone else that told them to get rid of what the landscaper had installed.
So today a crew of men showed up at the Health Department and pulled out all the bushes and with bobcats picked up all of the rock.
This was all loaded up into a truck and taken guess where?
To the landfill!
Everyone know that the county paid a premium price for all the work that was done during the construction of that building including the landscaping. Only to have it ripped out and thrown away. To fill up the land fill further on perfectly good landscaping materials is inexcusable.
Worcester County is home to the Worcester County FreeCycle, that if notified would have had people racing to Snow Hill to pick the materials .
In this day of drastic budget cuts, and no one knows if there job is next; I find this an extreme waste our our tax dollars and I expect better from the County to set a high example for it's citizens to follow.
What a waste!

Delegates Norm Conway and Jim Mathias to Hold Town Hall Meeting

A reader called today to let me know that there will be a ‘Town Hall Meeting’ held this Saturday at 10:00 am till 11:30 am at the new Pocomoke Firehouse on Market Street.

In anticipation of the upcoming 426th Session of the Maryland General Assembly, Del. James Mathias and Del. Norman Conway will be holding this meeting.

These are the folks who bring your concerns to the State House. These men are the ones whose ear you need in order to let them know how you feel on the issues that affect your life.

If you have a concern on the State level, then it is important for you to be there on Saturday morning and let them know your concerns.

What perfect timing! After the letter that I got last night, about upcoming State Budget Cuts for the elderly and disabled, we need to be there as an advocate for our elderly, not to mention the thousands of Maryland homeowners that are facing foreclosure.

If you can’t make the meeting; please email Delegate Mathias at

delegate@jimmathias.com

and let him know your concerns for the future of our State.

Future meeting will be in

  • Saturday, Jan. 24, Pittsville Fire House, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.; Ocean Pines Library, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 31, Ocean City Library, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 7, Salisbury, Wicomico Public Library, 11:30 a.m.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR HEBRON--HEADS UP!!!!

Last week, Hebron heard its planning 'expert' make a presentation where he explained how the town could expand its boundaries for future annexations. The expansion would include all the land from Porter Mill Road to Railroad Road to Rt 50; along Rt 50 going toward Salisbury to include the NORTH side back to the historic Springhill Church all the way to the Valero Gas Station.

This is in addition to Hebron's already-existing annexation and plans for its mega-development, Waller Landing. The hearing on Waller was months ago, but no official vote yet--County has not given a waiver so Five Year Rule requires no voting to rezone until 2010. Will Commissioners vote soon anyway?

Three Hebron Commissioners up for re-election this Spring—sounds like time for 'change' in Hebron, too?

Quote of the Day

"To think deeply in our culture is to grow angry and to anger others; and if you cannot tolerate this anger, you are wasting the time you spend thinking deeply. One of the rewards to deep thought is the hot glow of anger at discovering a wrong, but if anger is taboo, thought will starve to death." --Jules Henry, Culture Against Man, 1963.

The 2008 Darwin Awards

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.

Here are the glorious top 10 winners:

1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California , would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. And now, the honorable mentions:

2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company.
