On Dec. 4, 2016, beginning at 4pm in the historic village of Barren Creek Springs – also known as Mardela Springs! -- the joint efforts of the town’s historic societies and Volunteer Fire Department will once again welcome visitors to the Annual Christmas Heritage Tour. Since 2006 this tradition of celebrating “Christmas Present” with reminders of “Christmas Past” has become a highlight of the season. Led by the members of the Adkins Historical Museum and Complex and the Westside Historical Society, and with great support from the Mardela Volunteer Fire Dept., the goal is to recall the true meaning of Christmas – of simpler joys of friendship, celebrating with family get-togethers, sharing happy times, listening to the music of the season and being inspired by the real meaning and reason for the holiday.
So in that spirit there will be beautiful decorations to see throughout the town, horse-drawn wagon and tram rides, musicians and singers all around the village, and entertainment everywhere. A program with a walking route marked with special sites to see and visit will be available at the Fire Department, where vendors will be set up to offer all kinds of special goodies, and food also will be available – including the Eastern Shore specialties of oyster fritters and Chicken Salad! The Emmanuel Methodist Church also will be selling food, and warm drinks and tasty sweets also will be sold at the historic Brattan-Taylor General Store. Santa will be arriving on a Fire Truck (giving the reindeer time to rest-up for the Big Night!).
In keeping with the historic theme of the event, the Barren Creek Springs Church, built in 1842 and lovingly restored by Westside Historical Society will be open, with several musicians giving free “mini-concerts” throughout the evening. Nearby, the Barren Creek Spring House, recalling the town’s days as a popular mineral water spa town, also can be visited. Also open and welcoming visitors will be the Barren Creek Heritage Museum, 413 Main St., with special Christmas exhibits and other exhibits telling the story of the beginnings and growth of the western part of Wicomico County from the 17th century through the mid-20th century. In The Eyeful Hummingbird, an art and antiques shop on Fire Prevention Road, Santa’s Workshop and some of his elves will be set up to help the kiddies make special take-home (free) Christmas crafts! The Olympian 4-H Club members will be on hand to give the elves a hand! In the Adkins Complex of a number of restored buildings recalling the town’s busy Victorian-era past, visitors can tour the turn-of-the-century Whitelock House, General Store, English One-room School, Young’s Family Farmhouse, the Cannery with model trains and special exhibits of the town’s history. A walk-in Petting Zoo for children also will be set up on the grounds of the Complex.
There is no admission to any of the sites or events during the evening. Parking will be available on Station Street, near the Fire House, and around town on some streets, but guests are asked please not to block driveways. Also, since some streets are not as well lit, a good flashlight might be advisable. The Tour begins at 4 and will close at 7pm. For more information regarding setting up as a vendor, contact Carolyn Adkins at 410-883-3139; for other questions contact either Westside Historical Soc., westsidehistorical@gmail.com or 410-726-8047, or Adkins Historical Complex , D. 19-year-old sentenced to death in Kent State student slaying
Beaming from ear to ear without a scrap of remorse, this twisted teenager smiled as he was sentenced to death for killing a Kent State University student.
Damantae Graham, 19, was one of three teens charged with murdering Nicholas Massa, 18, after they broke into his friend's apartment near Akron, Ohio.
Police said Mr Massa was in the wrong place at the wrong time when Graham shot him on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7.
A Portage County judge sentenced Graham to death on Tuesday after considering mitigating factors including his age, neglectful parents and an unstable home life.
Police say Graham and two 17-year-old co-defendants broke into an apartment near Kent State's campus and demanded money. Graham shot and killed Massa before the three fled.
Graham was convicted on charges of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and kidnapping on November 8.

Median fence project starts in January, expansion unclear
Dates have been set for the installation of the dune-style median on a portion of Coastal Highway project, but expanding it all the way up the highway could take a little more time than local officials expected.
When SHA District Engineer Donnie Drewer updated the City Council on this and other state highway projects, he said that bids for the fence and lighting on the medians from the Route 90 bridge to Convention Center Drive would be opened next week. The projected construction start date is Jan. 23.
Although the work is expected to be finished by May, Drewer said that there might be delays in installing the fence slats themselves.
“I don’t know how long it will take to fabricate it, but the plan is to have the bases built in, and install the fence quickly at night,” he said. “The next phase is yet to be determined. We’d like to see how it works and looks and then make a determination.”

US RELEASES HAITIANS COMING FROM MEXICO
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- A surge in border crossings and a lack of immigration jail space have prompted the federal government to start releasing Haitian immigrants who have been entering the country in large numbers in recent months, backtracking on a pledge to jail the migrants.
A U.S. government official told The Associated Press that the decision to free Haitians arriving in Arizona and California is in response to a lack of jail space.
The official said releasing immigrants with orders to report later to immigration court is a tactic used when detention space is scarce, under certain humanitarian conditions or as part of efforts to keep families together.
Before the Haitians are released, they are subjected to a criminal background and national security check. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and insisted on speaking on condition of anonymity.
The influx of migrants and lack of jail space on the border will be one of the most immediate immigration challenges for President-elect Donald Trump, whose hard-line rhetoric on the issue won over conservatives and contributed to his historic upset last week. Trump vowed to build a wall on the border and carry out mass deportations.

Venezuelan Diplomat Joins Communists Plotting Against Trump
A Marxist, a Venezuelan diplomat and an illegal alien headlined a meeting of organizers of the Trump resistance as they announced their plan to shut down Chicago on Saturday and Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day.
The Chicago branch of Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) met in Chicago’s northwest side neighborhood of Albany Park to plot their next move in their resistance of the Trump presidency.
Chicago ANSWER was one of the radical leftist groups that helped to organize anti-Trump protests when his campaign tried to hold a rally in March; that rally was canceled after protesters clashed with attendees.
As TheDC reported last week, the group is responsible for organizing rallies in Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Albuquerque.

Rule Change Pushed By Harry Reid Could Allow Trump To Get All Of His Appointments Confirmed
A senate rule change championed by outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid could leave Democrats powerless to stop any of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet appointments.
In 2013, Sen. Reid and other Democrats pushed forward with a rule change dubbed the “nuclear option” to eliminate filibusters for all presidential nominations except Supreme Court justices. This means that a simple majority of 51 votes instead of 60 votes is necessary to confirm executive office appointments.
The Republicans are set to enter 2017 with at least 51 senators and can gain another seat with a likely win in the December senate run-off race in Louisiana.
So while Democratic National Committee interim chairwoman Donna Brazile has called for the senate to reject Trump’s nomination of Republican Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general, Trump’s cabinet will get confirmed as long Republicans vote along party lines.

Obama And Merkel: We Won't Return To Pre-Globalization
President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a joint press conference and penned an article Thursday, and both stressed that globalization is here to stay.
“Today we find ourselves at a crossroads — the future is upon us, and we will never return to a pre-globalization economy. As Germans and Americans we must seize the opportunity to shape globalization based on our values and our ideas,” Obama and Merkel wrote in the article published in the German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Merkel during her remarks at the press conference said something similar when speaking about “progress” with trade between the United States and Germany. “I think we share this conviction is that globalization needs to be shaped politically. It needs to be given a human face, but we cannot fall back into pre-globalization times.”

Inauguration prep underway: Parade stands take shape
WASHINGTON – Before the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, D.C. officials have some important construction work to do shaping the viewing areas for the parade.
“We’re approximately two to two-and-a-half weeks into the construction process,” said Jeff Bonvechio, deputy director of the District’s General Services Department.
The agency is in charge of building three stands along the parade route.
Two of the stands will go outside the White House for President-elect Donald Trump, his guests and the media. The other stand will be outside the Wilson Building for Mayor Muriel Bowser and members of the D.C. Council.
“The steel support frames are going up,” Bonvechio said. “Soon we will begin putting in the remaining walls and the ceilings.”

Obama Won't Denounce Anti-Donald Trump Protesters
President Obama said Thursday that he will not try to call off or denounce the anti-Donald Trump protests that have broken out nationwide, ignoring requests from the president-elect’s advisers for him to do so.
Obama made the comment at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“I would not advise people who feel strongly or are concerned about some of the issues that have been raised over the course of the campaign, I would not advise them to be silent,” Obama said.
“I’ve been the subject of protests during the course of my eight years,” the president added, defending his position.
He also stressed that Americans should exercise their right to free speech and not take such freedoms for granted, the Hill reported.

More Coastal Highway Repaving Planned After Year Off
OCEAN CITY — Resort residents and visitors will get a reprieve with no major paving projects planned this offseason, but they will likely return in the spring of 2018.
The Mayor and Council on Tuesday got a briefing from State Highway Administration (SHA) officials on a variety of projects planned in the coming months. Through much of last winter and early spring, the north end of Coastal Highway underwent a major paving project from 62nd Street to the Delaware line. On Tuesday, SHA District Engineer Donnie Drewer told the council the next major paving project in Ocean City is tentatively set for spring 2018 when a vast section of Coastal Highway from 62nd Street to 26th Street will be milled and repaved.
“We’re going to do the same thing for this section as we did this year on the north section to the Delaware line,” he said. “We’re going to give them a drop dead date to be done by Memorial Day weekend in 2018. We’ll have it all paved and ready to go.”
Last spring, SHA conducted a major milling and repaving project on the north end of Coastal Highway in both directions. Coastal Highway from 62nd Street to the Delaware line was completely milled and repaved as part of SHA’s ongoing enhancements along the resort’s main drag.

DOJ’s Civil Rights Division Head Is Violating Federal Law and Her Actions May Be Void
Vanita Gupta, the acting head of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, apparently has been working in violation of federal law for more than a year and a half.
That may render all of the official actions she has taken during that period—lawsuits, demand letters, hires, you name it—“void” and of no effect.
To deter presidents from trying to get around the Senate’s constitutional “advise and consent” role in executive branch appointments, Congress passed the Federal Vacancies Reform Act in 1998. A key section of the law sets restrictions and time limitations on how long someone can remain as the “acting” official in a position that must be confirmed by the Senate.
The assistant attorney general for Civil Rights is one such position, according to the “Plum Book,” the official list of all such positions in the executive branch that is published by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, when an office that requires Senate confirmation becomes vacant, “the first assistant to the office of such officer shall perform the functions and duties of the office temporarily in an acting capacity subject to the time limitations of section 3346.” The time limitation set by that section is 210 days.
The law stipulates that, if the president submits a nomination to the Senate, the 210-day limit can be extended as long as the nomination is pending in the Senate. But it also stipulates that if an acting officer violates this time limitation, all actions taken by that individual “shall have no force or effect.”

Sewer Service Extension OK’d For Campground To Grow
SNOW HILL – At the request of Frontier Town, the Worcester County Commissioners this week agreed to extend sewer service down Route 611 to the campground.
Following a public hearing Tuesday, the commissioners voted unanimously to approve extending the Mystic Harbour Sanitary Service Area to include Frontier Town and the properties across the road from it. Attorney Hugh Cropper presented the request on behalf of Sun Communities, owner of Frontier Town.
“It’s where these properties should be served,” Cropper said.
According to Bob Mitchell, the county’s director of environmental programs, the expansion of the service area would involve Frontier Town purchasing 166 Equivalent Dwelling Units (EDUs). That wastewater treatment capacity would serve the existing campground and the 213-site expansion planned for the near future.

Gallup: Half of Americans More Confident in Trump Since Election
A little over half - 51 percent - of Americans are “more confident” in President-elect Donald Trump’s ability to serve as president based on his actions in the past few days post-election, according to a national Gallup poll released Wednesday.
Forty percent of those surveyed described themselves as “less confident” in the president-elect in the November 9th to 13th poll, while nine percent had no opinion on it or were indifferent.
Gallup noted that the percentage who are “more confident” in Trump days after his election is similar to the percentage more confident in Bill Clinton (53%) and in George W. Bush (54%) after they won their respective elections in 1992 and 2000.
“The fact that similar percentages of Americans say they have more confidence in Trump in the days after his election as did so for Bush and Clinton is notable, given that Trump is much less popular as president-elect than they were,” Gallup added.

FEMA’s Decision To Adjust Flood Zone Maps Called ‘Critical Win For Ocean City’
OCEAN CITY — Many resort oceanfront property owners could be getting a kick-back on exorbitant flood insurance premiums after a federal agency agreed there were flaws in the mapping of Ocean City’s most vulnerable areas.
Ocean City officials learned last week FEMA had agreed to adjust the maps after reviewing the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR), which essentially moved many beachfront properties, particularly along the north end of Ocean City, from the VE zone, or the highest flood zone designation.
“Yes, it was very good news,” said City Engineer Terry McGean, who led the effort to correct the maps along with the Mayor and Council and the resort’s state and federal delegations. “The LOMR moves the VE flood zone boundary to coincide with the beach replenishment project line and, therefore, removes all properties in the condo row area between 93rd Street and 123rd Street from the high-hazard VE zone and the associated high flood insurance premiums.”

Democrat Lawmaker Calls Trump a ‘Bigot,’ ‘Demagogue,’ ‘Sexual Predator,’ ‘Liar,’ ‘Con Artist’
A Democrat congressman told the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday that the next president of the United States is a bigot, a demagogue, a liar, a sexual predator and a con artist.
Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) said in a floor speech at the end of the day’s proceedings that President-elect Donald Trump could not be treated like any other politician or like any other Republican.
“Because he is not. Trump represents something much more dangerous,” he said. “While none of us want to be in this case, we have a duty to treat him like the threat that he is – a threat to our values, a threat to our people, and a threat to our national identity.”
Gallego noted that Trump is 70 years old, and he said it was unrealistic to expect him to change.
Gallego then called Trump, in turn, a “sexual predator,” “a demagogue,” “a bigot,” “a liar” and a “con artist.”

More Frustration Expressed By Employers At Overtime Seminar; Law Change Viewed As Harsh For Seasonal Businesses
OCEAN CITY – Agitation among local business owners is growing in regards to new overtime laws that take effect Dec. 1.
In a meeting with the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation attorney David Stevens Wednesday morning, a large crowd of business owners and officials voiced questions and concerns about the local economy’s ability to shoulder the financial changes.
Currently, white collar salaried workers, like those with executive, administrative and professional duties, making more than $455 a week, are not eligible for overtime pay. This threshold will soon increase to $913 weekly.
Any of the 4.2 million U.S. citizens now eligible for overtime pay will receive time-and-a-half for any work that exceeds the 40-hour work week.
Some business owners in the meeting argued that these new laws are not reasonable for the seasonal resort town.
“I believe everyone in this room tries very hard to pay their employees correctly and there may be a few exceptions,” BJ’s on the Water owner Maddy Carder said. “But for this to happen without any say, as usual, in a small business person’s life is just like everything else that the government passes. To heck with the little guy. This country was founded on small businesses, and God bless [the government] is trying their best to get rid of them.”

Republicans Now Control Record Number of State Legislative Chambers
Republicans added to their historic 2014 gains in the nation’s state legislatures with the addition of five state House chambers and two state Senate chambers in last week’s election, while Democratic control was reduced to levels not seen since the Civil War.
Republicans are now in control of a record 67 (68 percent) of the 98 partisan state legislative chambers in the nation, more than twice the number (31) in which Democrats have a majority, according to the bipartisan National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL).
“That’s more than at any other time in the history of the Republican Party,” according to NCSL. “They also hold more total seats, well over 4,100 of the 7,383, than they have since 1920.”
Next year, the GOP will control both legislative chambers in 32 states - an all-time high, according to NCSL - while Democrats will have total control of just 13 state legislatures.
In 24 of the 32 states with Republican-controlled legislatures, voters have also elected Republican governors. In contrast, Democrats have a “political trifecta” in just six states.
Since 2009, when President Obama took office, his party has lost a total of 919 seats in state legislatures nationwide, according to NCSL data.

$500K Restitution Ordered In Businessman’s Fraud Case
OCEAN CITY — An Ocean City business owner, who pleaded guilty last spring to one count of wire fraud for his role in a $2.5 million counterfeit sports memorabilia scheme carried out over the Internet, still awaits his fate at sentencing, but this week was ordered to pay $500,000 in restitution in the case.
In January, Ocean City Brewing Company owner Joshua Shores, 41, of Pennsylvania and Ocean City, was charged in U.S. District Court in connection with a $2.5 million fraud scheme involving counterfeit sports memorabilia sold over the Internet through his various companies over a period from January 2008 to May 2013. Shores, who owns and operates the Ocean City Brewing Company, created various Internet businesses in Pennsylvania and Maryland to traffic counterfeit and fraudulent sports memorabilia.
In March, Shores entered an agreement in which he pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison along with the forfeiture of a residential property on Chicago Avenue in Ocean City along with various vehicles and other property allegedly obtained through the proceeds of the fraud scheme and many of those forfeitures have already been conducted. However, not listed among the property for potential forfeiture is the Ocean City Brewing Company on Coastal Highway in Ocean City or its sister brewery and restaurant operation in Bel Air.

However, not listed among the property for potential forfeiture is the Ocean City Brewing Company on Coastal Highway in Ocean City or its sister brewery and restaurant operation in Bel Air.

San Francisco Teachers’ Union: ‘Do Not Tell Them That We Have Lost’
The United Educators of San Francisco, the union that represents teachers in the city’s public schools, released a controversial guide Wednesday to teaching public school children about Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in the recent election.
The guide, called the “Lesson Plan on the November 2016 Election,” informs teachers that “a racist and sexist man has become the president of our country by pandering to a huge racist and sexist base,” and suggests they teach children the same.
In fact, the lesson plan urges teachers not to tell students that Hillary Clinton lost the election (original emphasis): “DO NOT: Tell them that we have LOST and that we have to accept this. We do not have to accept ANYTHING except that we must and will fight for justice against an unjust system and against unjust people.”
The guide also recommends that teachers allow students to use profanity when expressing their feelings about the election, because “you would too if you have suffered under the constructs of white supremacy or experienced sexism, or any isms or lack of privilege.”
The Associated Press reports that the union “posted the plan on its website and distributed it via an email newsletter to its more than 6,000 members. The school district has more than 57,000 students.”
The school district refused to condemn the plan, saying that it was optional.

Israeli Ambassador to U.S.: We Look Forward to Working with Steve Bannon
TEL AVIV – Ron Dermer, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, on Thursday praised President-elect Donald Trump as a “true friend of Israel” and said he looks forward to working with incoming White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.
“Israel has no doubt that President-elect Trump is a true friend of Israel,” Dermer stated. “We have no doubt that Vice-President-elect Mike Pence is a true friend of Israel, he was one of Israel’s greatest friends in the Congress, one of the most pro-Israel governors in the country, and we look forward to working with the Trump administration, with all of the members of the Trump administration, including Steve Bannon, and making the US-Israel alliance stronger than ever.”
Dermer was speaking to reporters at Trump Tower in New York, according to a press pool account.
Dermer spoke as the baseless charge of “anti-Semitism” against Bannon collapsed with the Anti-Defamation League conceding on Thursday that it is “not aware of any anti-Semitic statements made by Bannon himself.”

Obama Assails Spread of Fake News on Social Media
BERLIN — In his strongest public comments since the election, President Obama on Thursday sharply criticized the spread of fake news online and said that President-elect Donald J. Trump would not remain in office for long if he failed to take the job seriously.
Mr. Obama made his remarks at a news conference in Berlin beside the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, one of his closest allies on the Continent, calling the pair “veterans” of the international political stage. Ms. Merkel was unusually sentimental. “It is hard to say goodbye,” she said.
But instead of basking in the glow of his valedictory tour of Europe, Mr. Obama used the moment to make a passionate and pointed attack on bogus news stories disseminated on Facebook and other social media platforms, twice calling such false reports a threat to democracy in his hourlong news conference.
Mr. Obama also warned Mr. Trump of the need to take the job of the presidency seriously and to be tough on Russia.

LAMESTREAM MEDIA SUDDENLY CARES ABOUT FREE SPEECH!
These are the same people who contributed to the First Amendment's destruction
Now that they no longer control the narrative, the disgraced establishment media is concerned about the First Amendment.
This is after systematically destroying it by becoming political campaign hacks and watching idly as college crybabies demand their feelings are more important.

Maryland teenager receives probation for incident in OC
Another man that was arrested for a large-scale confrontation with police last July had his day in court this week and pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and failure to obey police.
Germaine Levenbury, 19, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland was also charged with interfering with an arrest, but Deputy State’s Attorney Paul Haskell declined to pursue that charge because of a lack of evidence.
Levenbury was one of 11 people who were arrested on the Boardwalk on July 23 and July 24. According to police, a crowd became out of control and assaulted officers after a man was arrested for throwing a trash can around 10 p.m. on July 23.
The situation became worse after midnight. Haskell told the court that hundreds of disorderly people gathered on the boards near Seventh Street.

Some African-Americans Cautiously Welcome Donald Trump’s Election
A significant number of African-Americans in New York are cautiously supporting President-elect Donald Trump, according to a writer in the Wall Street Journal.
The article by Jason Riley illustrates some of the reasons Trump won far more support from African-Americans on Nov. 8 than did the 2012 candidate, Gov. Mitt Romney. According to the flawed exit polls, he was supported by one-in-sex African-American men nationwide.
This may come as a shock to the political left, but not everyone who opposed Donald Trump is as angry or despondent as the demonstrators who grabbed headlines nationwide over the past week or the pundits who intellectualized the Democratic hissy fit.
On Monday I took a stroll around New York City’s Harlem neighborhood …
“Hillary wasn’t strong enough. She didn’t fight enough,” said a gentleman leaving a drugstore, who introduced himself as Pace. “People saw her as weak and thought she’d be weak in the White House.”

District Court commissioner retires after 15 OC summers
Picture a young woman distraught after learning that a report of her sexual escapades will be posted on the Internet, while minutes later her male partner in the illegal incident expressed excitement at the same news. Such is the stuff District Court Commissioner Joe Potter, has seen and heard for 15 summers in Ocean City.
“I really enjoyed it for many, many years,” Potter said. “The people I worked with down here are great.”
Potter, 75, was the sole district court commissioner working the 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift, five days a week, at the Public Safety Building from April through October. Another commissioner, usually reluctantly, worked the graveyard hours on his two days off.
Potter was responsible for seeing defendants from all over the county, as they were brought in by Ocean City police, Maryland State Police, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, police from Ocean Pines, Snow Hill and Pocomoke and the Natural Resources Police.

Democrat Education Reform Leader: Trump’s Agenda ‘Threatens Grave Harm’ to Nation’s Children
The president of Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) is urging members of his Party to refuse to serve in the U.S. Department of Education under President Donald Trump, citing an agenda he describes as threatening “grave harm” to children.
Shavar Jeffries writes in a statement Thursday in response to the fact that lists of potential education secretary candidates in the future Trump administration include some Democrats, such as Michelle Rhee, the former chancellor of Washington, D.C. schools, and Eva Moskowitz, CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools.
“It is, generally speaking, an honor for any person of any political persuasion to be asked by the President of the United States to consider a Cabinet-level appointment, but in the case of President-elect Trump, DFER encourages no Democrat to accept an appointment to serve as Secretary of Education in this new administration,” Jeffries asserts. “In so doing, that individual would become an agent for an agenda that both contradicts progressive values and threatens grave harm to our nation’s most vulnerable kids.”

First-Degree Assault Charge For Knife Threat
OCEAN CITY — An Ocean City man was arrested on first-degree assault and other charges last weekend after allegedly threatening a female victim with a knife.
Around 7:45 p.m. last Saturday, an Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officer responded to a residence on Colonial Avenue for a reported assault that had occurred. The officer met with a female victim who told police her friend had called 911. The victim told police another female friend had called her the day before upset and crying about her current living situation. The victim’s friend had been living with a male, identified as Randolph Main, Jr., 44, of Ocean City, and another female.
The victim’s friend stayed over the night before, but when the victim woke up early Saturday morning, her friend was gone. Exit Poll: 58 Percent of Hispanic Voters Back Donald Trump’s Immigration Policies
A majority of Hispanic voters said they “support Donald Trump’s immigration policies,” undercutting the narrative that enforcing immigration law will drive away Latinos, one exit poll found.
The poll, conducted from Nov. 9 to Nov. 10 by Zogby Analytics for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), found 58.5 percent of Hispanic voters favored President-Elect Donald Trump’s immigration policies, compared to 32.9 percent for failed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Of all voters, 57.4 percent said they support Trump’s immigration policies, with 38.4 percent backing Clinton’s.
Twice as many Hispanic voters think immigration enforcement is too lax than those who think it’s too strict (36.3 percent versus 18.3 percent).
“The conventional wisdom that advocating enforcement of immigration laws is a deal-killer for Hispanic voters is just plain wrong,” Dan Stein, president of FAIR, said in a statement. “It is a myth perpetuated by groups and individuals with a political stake in maintaining mass immigration and by a bunch of high-price political consultants who continually misread public sentiment.”

Sanders to Newsmax: Trump Prosecution of Hillary Is 'Beyond Comprehension'
Despite some hints from Donald Trump before and after Nov. 8 that he would support criminal prosecution of Hillary Clinton if elected president, former Democratic presidential hopeful Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders dismissed the possibility of such prosecution as "almost beyond comprehension."
Sanders, who waged a strong campaign against Clinton for the Democratic nomination this year, made his view of such a prosecution known to Newsmax Wednesday morning at a press breakfast in Washington, D.C. hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.
"He said a whole lot of things," Sanders said of Trump's talk of prosecuting the former secretary of State, "Was he serious or were these just campaign slogans out there to gain some votes?"
The self-styled socialist told us, "It would be almost beyond comprehension to think that a new president would be involved in the prosecution of his opponent who ended up getting some 2 million more votes than he did."

Mexico's Raises Overnight Rate after Trump's Win
Mexico’s central bank raised borrowing costs for the fourth time this year after Donald Trump’s election dragged the peso to never-before-seen levels of more than 20 per dollar, boosting the risk of faster inflation.
Policy makers increased the key rate a half point to 5.25 percent Thursday, the highest level since 2009. Most of the 23 economists surveyed by Bloomberg beforehand expected a half-point increase, with the rest split between a hike of three quarters of a point and a full-point. The peso fell 0.9 percent to 20.3859 per dollar at 3:18 p.m. in New York, signalling that the market may have expected a bigger increase or more measures.
Before the election, central bank Governor Agustin Carstens said he and the Finance Ministry had a contingency plan for panicked markets. So when Trump’s victory sent the peso plunging as much as 12 percent and Mexico’s government took no action, attention shifted to today’s meeting. The statement following the meeting focused on the risks of pass-through from peso depreciation to consumer prices and said that the rate hike seeks to counter price pressures and keep inflation expectations anchored.
Today’s decision is meant to "avoid having the depreciation un-anchor inflation expectations," Carlos Capistran, the chief Mexico economist at Bank of America Corp., said in an e-mailed response to questions. "We expect the next movement to be a quarter-point hike in December with the Fed."

Trump Said It, EVERYONE Doubted Him, But Now Apple Might Make iPhones In America!?!?
Donald Trump hasn’t even been inaugurated and he might already be returning jobs to American soil!
During his campaign, Donald Trump used Apple as an example of companies that have sent jobs to overseas workers, and promised that he would bring those opportunities back to American workers and a mere week after he was elected to be the President of the United States, a headline pops up among tech blogs that Apple may be doing it voluntarily.
Rush Limbaugh discussed this on his radio show Thursday morning, and discussed the ramifications of such an action.
So there I am reading my tech blogs today. I took a little break, scoured the tech blogs. Not to delve deeply; just to see what was popping. And I saw a headline: “Apple Could Make iPhones in U.S. in Future.” And I said, “Whoa! Now wait a minute.” Remember during the campaign Trump said he was gonna make Apple make iPhones in America. And everybody said, can’t happen, including me. I said this cannot happen, and the reason it can’t happen — well, there are many reasons why I thought it couldn’t happen.
I mean, I can go through some of them right now. I mean, you could do it, but you couldn’t keep the price what they are now. They would be significantly more expensive simply because of the volume. We don’t have, in the United States, factory infrastructure to manufacture iPhones. Not if they were all made here. They could make a few here, if they wanted to split it up. But the factories in China where iPhones are made, there’s two companies that make iPhones. One’s called Hon Hai Precision, and the Anglicized name is Foxconn. And another company is called Pegatron.
Without a doubt, this could be early evidence that a Donald Trump Presidency is already setting out to fulfill campaign promises.

Beefed Up Shopping Patrol Turned Down By County
SNOW HILL – Deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department will not be providing extra patrols at Walmart this holiday season following a recent decision by county leaders.
On Tuesday the Worcester County Commissioners voted 5-2 against approving a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that would have allowed deputies to perform extra patrols at Walmart on Black Friday and Christmas.
“I’ve been on the record as not in favor of any MOUs with anybody,” Commissioner Jim Bunting said. “I don’t think our sheriff’s department should be security.”
Lieutenant Mark Bowen approached the commissioners seeking approval of the MOU, which outlined the time periods the extra patrols would occur, the rate Walmart would pay and the fact that the deputies would be on-duty and under the supervision of the sheriff during that time. Bowen said Walmart would be charged $75 per hour per deputy, as that was the rate that had been set by the county.

Baltimore Expected to Approve Law Banning Possession of ‘Replica’ Guns
A Baltimore police detective shot and wounded 14-year-oldDedric Colvin earlier this year during a foot chase. Police say they gave chase and ultimately fired shots after seeing Colvin carrying a weapon that appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol. After the shooting, however, officers discovered the weapon was actually a BB pistol modeled after a popular type of semi-automatic handgun. Authorities ruled the shooting was justified and no charges were filed against the officer.
If the aftermath of the incident, the Baltimore City Council decided that it wanted to do more to prevent another similar incident from happening.
How do they plan to achieve their goal?
By passing a citywide ban on the possession of toy or replica guns that appear similar to real handguns and rifles.

Court Upholds Federal Ban On Gun Sales To Medical Marijuana Cardholders
A large number of states have legalized marijuana use for medicinal purposes, even as the federal government continues to maintain that pot is as dangerous and addictive as heroin. However, even though you can’t currently be prosecuted by the feds for properly obtaining medical marijuana in a state like Nevada, your status as a confirmed marijuana user could be used to prevent you from buying a gun.
Federal laws regarding firearms sales include a prohibition against selling guns to fugitives, convicts, “mental defectives,” and anyone who is an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance” as defined by the Controlled Substances Act.
As mentioned above, not only does the DEA consider marijuana a controlled substance, but lists it as a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning the agency considers it to be highly addictive, dangerous, and having no legitimate medical application.

LEGENDARY COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 11-19-16
Nannie Rider Jackson
(The portrait above is an original oil painting of Mrs. Jackson and
can be seen displayed in the lobby of the Wicomico County Library)
Born on August 10, 1849, she was the daughter of Dr. William H. Rider, whose residence was Honeysuckle Lodge. It is still there on the east side of Camden Ave. and the south side of Tony Tank Lake south of Salisbury. The Rider family cemetery is still on the property.
Early in her life, in 1866, a year before she married Elihu E. Jackson, she was invited to attend the organizational meeting of a new Methodist Church. This was to become Trinity Methodist Church. She was the only woman in attendance, so the men elected her to be Secretary and keep the minutes. She remained faithful to Trinity Church all her life and convinced her husband, Elihu E. Jackson, former governor of Maryland, to build a new Trinity Church in 1904. Trinity Church still remains at its Division Street location near Route 50 to this day and is still an active Church.
She built and donated the Jackson Memorial Building to Trinity Church in 1913 as a memorial to her late husband, who had died in 1907. It was originally built as a YMCA. Trinity Church finished a $1.2 million project in 2008 to bring the building up to the standards of the 21st Century. It should stand as a loving tribute to her husband for many years to come.
A tribute was paid to her in her lifetime by her brother, Noah Harrison Rider. While in Alabama looking after his brother-in-law’s lumber interest, he gave the mill town that was built around the mill there the name of Riderville. Another town was named Riderwood in honor of their family name.
The Jackson’s residence at the corner of N. Division and Isabella Streets was an imposing 40 room mansion on 23 acres named “The Oaks”. She sold it for $100,000 in 1925 to an out-of-town buyer who sub-divided it for residences. The only existing remembrance of the grandeur of the property is a remnant of the brick wall along Isabella St. that once surrounded the entire property.
Nannie Jackson died on October 3, 1914 and is interred beside her husband in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
Three Pakistani Men Apprehended in U.S. at Arizona Border
Three Pakistani men were apprehended after crossing into the U.S. from Mexico in the Tucson Sector. A combination of sources — including official confirmation from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — revealed the men were in fact apprehended and are currently in U.S. federal custody.
Breitbart Texas sources first released the information and CBP confirmed via email. CPB responded:
U.S. Border Patrol agents in Nogales, AZ, apprehended three Pakistani nationals on Nov. 11. As a standard procedure, agents processed the individuals and checked their identities against numerous law enforcement and national security related databases. Record checks revealed no derogatory information about the individuals. The individuals are currently in Federal custody while they await the outcome of their immigration cases.
Additional information on the individuals was obtained by federal agents working under the umbrella of CBP, but it is important to note that the additional details were not confirmed by CBP.

A Tale Of Two Americas: Trump Vs. Clinton
It is no surprise that Democrats derive most their support from the large metropolitan areas of the United States while Republicans appeal more to people living in the rural areas. That said, the following two maps, created by the New York Times, provides a stunning look at the divide.
According to the NYT's, while Hillary won the popular vote on November 8th, Trump was supported by residents occupying 85% of the land area of the country.
Meanwhile, Hillary derived her support from the large coastal cities of the Northeast and West coast which comprise the other 15% of the country's land area.

The 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier wandered away from her White Marsh home around 9 a.m. on Oct. 16 and was found by a Good Samaritan who placed a lost dog ad on Craigslist, police said. When contacted by the teen who allegedly claimed to be the owner, the Good Samaritan gave her the dog.
“The girl had seen the ad, pretended to be the dog's owner, took the dog, then sold the dog on Craigslist,” police wrote in a release on Wednesday.
Detectives identified the teen and charged her as a juvenile.

Elon Musk: Tesla solar roof will likely cost less than a normal roof
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the solar roof that will be sold under a combined Tesla-SolarCity will likely cost less than a normal roof to install.
Tesla and SolarCity shareholdersvoted in favor of the $2 billion deal Thursday. In late October, Musk unveiled a new solar roof product to show his vision for a combined company with SolarCity, but did not provide specifics on how much it would cost.
On Thursday after the shareholder vote, Musk said its solar roof will likely cost less than a normal roof:
“It’s looking quite promising that a solar roof will actually cost less than a normal roof before you even take the value of electricity into account. So the basic proposition would be ‘Would you like a roof that looks better than a normal roof, lasts twice as long, costs less and by the way generates electricity’ It’s like, why would you get anything else.”
Musk added the price he is speaking to factors in the cost of labor, as well.

Twitter mocks selfie of Mike Pence and Republican members of Congress
A selfie taken by Mike Pence was mercilessly mocked online on Thursday for its apparent lack of diversity.
The picture, tweeted by Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, showed the vice president-elect surrounded by more than 100 Republican representatives.
Great having @mike_pence visit today! I’m excited to work with him and @realDonaldTrump to shake up the status quo in Washington, D.C. #MAGA
But social media users quickly jumped on one conspicuous detail about the picture — virtually everyone in it is white.
Tesla’s acquisition of Solar City has been approved by its shareholders
Over 85 percent of Tesla shareholders approved the deal
Tesla’s shareholders have approved the acquisition of Solar City, bringing together two of Musk’s companies under one (solar-powered) roof. The vote clears the way for the $2.6 billion deal to close “in the coming days,” Tesla said.
The acquisition of Solar City is part of Musk’s master plan, which has Tesla expanding its offerings to include integrated energy generation and storage, entering the electric truck and bus markets, and vehicle sharing. The first product to come out of the newly combined company is likely to be the Solar Roof Tesla showed off last month.
