Breaking News: A Republican senator who was at the White House immigration meeting said President Trump did not use a vulgarity to describe Haiti and Africa
Senator David Perdue, a Republican from Georgia who attended the White House meeting, forcefully denied on Sunday that President Trump had used a vulgarity to describe Haiti and African nations, saying a Democratic senator’s account of the session was “a gross misrepresentation.”
Just Another 5-Star Week!
By Thornton Crowe
What began with a bang as the blizzard snow still hung around like a house guest overstaying his welcome, the City's never-ending drama creation machine was in full throttle during the week.
It started out with the City making some unreasonable demands on many citizens. Either shovel your sidewalks, even though they've plowed 3'+ off the roads onto your sidewalk or risk being fined. Remember the fines went up due to the need to finance the big Folk Festival!
Considering the elderly population is ever-growing, not an easy demand to be met when one can't even walk outside without a walker, cane or wheelchair. Furthermore, many elders have fixed incomes based on Social Security; therefore, just paying someone is not an option.
As if this weren't enough to add salt to wound, we move to the tidbit about the Downtown renovation project where the City is now seen as a bad risk for construction companies. Contaminated soil drove the cost up way beyond the original budget; however, because many at City Hall now were not born before the Seventies, it's no shocker they didn't know there was a gas station on almost every corner downtown in the Fifties and Sixties. It should come as a no-brainer that gas stations contaminate the soil in their immediate areas because their tanks leak. There's no getting around it. It is what it is.
The City Hall gang doesn't bother themselves with such particulars because to do land studies or researching archaic records, because it tasks one to actually dig through paper records. Perish the thought! All those paper cuts are simply too horrifying to endure.
Corrado Construction, as mention in the Salisbury News article, has left the project but not before allegedly filing a lawsuit (as per abovementioned article) against the City for not paying for work already completed.** Why is this not a surprise to many local residents, privy to the kid government machinations? Well, it would seem right on par with all the other clown-car rubbish we've witnessed here in "Da Bury" for a long time.
Bear in mind, they're not recklessly spending monopoly money here, folks. This money is coming out of YOUR pockets. This means you can't afford to buy your kid the GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip because the kids running City Hall don't know blip one about business, money management or how to price out a seemingly simple project.
You may ask, "What will the City do now that the Downtown is half tore up?"
Good question which will surely add yet more drama to another fun-filled week down the road. However, for now, we can thank the city for not disappointing our never-ending fascination for governmental drama this week -- and that's in addition to the 10" snow pile up.
Thanks for the memories!
TC NOTE: ** Maryland Caseseach reveals no current filing against the City of Salisbury. The only two cases are closed from 2011 and 2012 in Dorchester County, citing Corrado Construction as Plaintiffs on record at this time.

BREAKING NEWS: Corrado Construction Co. Walks Off Downtown Salisbury Job & Files Lawsuit Against City
The company that the City of Salisbury, Maryland hired to do the Downtown revitalization, (Corrado Construction) filed a lawsuit today against the City for refusing to pay them for outstanding contaminated soil bills.
Salisbury News came to learn today that the City owes this company $450,000.00 and the Mayor simply refuses to pay them. We're told the City just doesn't have the money, yet they continued to contract this company to do work they knew they couldn't pay for.
It was Salisbury News that broke the news the City had hit contaminated soil from the very start and we again reported that they had hit contaminated soil for the second time, I believe it was in phase III near the Chamber of Commerce.
Corrado has in fact paid the County Landfill for the contaminated soil they brought there but since the City is refuses to reimburse the company they have actually gone in and removed ALL of their equipment and have no abandoned the project.
So where does this leave the City. Well, what contractor is going to go in there now and do the work, knowing the City doesn't have the funding and also refuses to pay for work already completed.
I'm thinking, all that work/contractors that needs to be done for Jake's Folk Festival better open their eyes and run like a bat out of hell. THAT IS, unless local Good Ol' Boys step up to the plate, (possibly pre planned) and allegedly come to the rescue on this massive project and get the funding from the City at a much higher rate. I mean, we are talking about Salisbury Maryland politics.
Nevertheless, the project is now at a stand still and this will get very interesting from this point forward. Put a Boy in a mans job and this is what you get. Keep your eyes open for new fine legislation in the near future Folks.

How Warm Are You Able To Keep Your Home?
I'm sure a lot of people have frozen pipes and are wondering who they can call to repair them. You might want to put your company name and number in comments here to let people know who they can call.
Aside from that. how warm are you able to keep your home? Heat pumps just can't keep up. I have electric heat in one home, a heat pump in another and a pellet stove in another. Honestly, none of them are doing what we expected but the pellet stove is the warmer of the three. I also have a 20 seer, (sp?) heat pump and that's not doing what I expected either. Bundle up people.

Mayor Day Calls For A Mandatory Meeting Tomorrow At 8 AM For Every Single Employee In The Entire City
It's a super duper secret and one can only guess what brought this chump of a kid to completely stop all functions of the City, but he's done it. I don't believe Banks will be open till 9 AM and junkies are always asleep at that time, so no worries there. Rapes and stabbings rarely occur at 8 AM, so your probably safe there as well.
My guess is this meeting will cost the taxpayers around $30,000.00 in expenses and since this will take place at SU, hopefully they've paved the parking lot and Lord only knows if they've shoveled the sidewalks there, so do be careful Staff.
Nevertheless, if you had any plans to visit the GOB tomorrow morning, DON'T. No one will be there and I'm being very serious. If you happen to know why this mandatory meeting is taking place, do let us know.
A Viewer Writes: Seriously disturbing footage from the Dough Roller
Hey Joe,
I have a son who lives with his mother on the shore and works part time at the Dough Roller. He has told me time and time again about how disgusting they are and how the Russian students purposely drop food on the floor in efforts to serve Americans dirty pizza.
At first this seemed a little far fetched, I mean perhaps one incident from a bad apple? I dug a little and found the most disturbing video that I have ever found. Footage of Russian students throwing ENTIRE BLOCKS OF CHEESE into the garbage and floor prior to shredding it and serving it to hard working AMERICANS ON VACATION!!!!
I am a Republican through and through and this is NOT what our country was founded off of. Immigrants come here for a second chance, but it looks like these students just come here to exploit tax free income while absolutely disrespecting our good citizens and culture. I beg for you to let the community know what is going on behind the scenes there. Shame on the owners of this establishment!

Why I Favor Jim Mathias For Re-Election
You're not going to hear a great majority of Republicans admitting they too agree with my thinking of supporting Jim Mathias again to represent the Eastern Shore as Senator, let me assure you there's a LOT out there that do.
Governor Larry Hogan is supporting Marybeth Carozza for one reason only, he needs more republicans to stop over riding his vetoes. That's It!
Now you have to very seriously consider what's at stake here. I may not always agree with Jim Mathias, like his sprinkler bill for example or even the elected school board situation years ago. However, Jim Mathias has dedicated his life to the Eastern Shore and has truly helped ALL of our Republican Representatives from the Shore. You may not be aware of that but it is an absolute fact. His wisdom and experience truly gets things done. He is well respected in Annapolis and for what it's worth, that goes a long way and sometimes there's some give and take.
If you'll recall, before Carl Anderton came along I even supported Norm Conway. When Mike McDermott decided to step up and run against Jim, I fully supported Mike McDermott because Mike was also well respected as a state Delegate in Annapolis and Mike was and still is extremely passionate for the Shore.
What has Marybeth done? Truthfully, nothing. She is new to the political scene and has zero influence in Annapolis. Sorry but that is the truth. Yes, she is a Republican and I usually support my party but I've always voted for who I firmly believe is best for the job.
In the future I'll deliver more detailed information as to why I politically support Jim Mathias. However, I want all of you to know right out of the gate where I stand on this particular race.
Marybeth is a very nice person and I certainly appreciate her hard work and dedication but let me assure you, she's in way over her head and if she got elected it could easily take well over a decade before we'd regain the same influence Jim Mathias holds at this time. I truly believe she needs a lot more time and experience to truly represent the Eastern Shore on that level.

Dear Mayor Jake Day,
So here is my question. If you are an elderly or disabled person in Salisbury and need your walkway cleaned you call someone to do it most likely. They have to be able to get to your street to do this. Many streets have not been plowed and they are telling people to stay off the roads. So Aunt Betty and Uncle Joe can't get their sidewalks cleared and will get a fine? If they want people to stay off the roads how do people get to those needing driveways and walkways cleared?
Trump's Crazy Train
By Thornton Crowe
This last week, we've seen a lot of nothingness with this new book, Fire & Fury, by a well-known gossip writer. Chock full of salacious National Enquirer fictionoids, the author even admits most of it isn't true but he wanted to write a catchy story.
Of course, the fallout from this is a severed relationship between the President and his former advisor, Steve Bannon of Breitbart. The spectacle has been quite amusing to watch as the Left has gone into an absolute frenzy, now questioning the President's competency and mental state.
For those who didn't remember or live through the Eighties, they tried the same thing with Ronald Reagan minus the overpriced, hardcover Globe. Many Democrats at the time, made wild claims just before the 1984 election, due to the former President's age, he was unable to serve a second term. As history now tells us, not only did he serve, he continued to win marvelously and brought down the Iron Curtain.
Fast forward to this week and we've seen the same old song and dance. Morning Joe Scarborough and his ilk have all clamored about Trump's supposed mental disorders - questioning with feigned gravity. And then come the clowns as the House Democrats have even come up with this ridiculous story about a Yale psychiatrist who supposedly told them, in short, Trump is nuts.
Anyone whose had any dealings with the medical community will know, with HIPAA (1996) and medical license requirements, a real psychiatrist would never do two things: A) Discuss someone's mental state without an extensive interview process with the subject and B) talk about findings even if that process had occurred with anyone as Doctor-Patient confidentiality prevents such a disclosure.
Could it be the Left is scrambling because there's nothing like the smell of Corruption?
We also learned through valid news outlets, the Clinton Foundation and Email investigations have been reopened by the Department of Justice. This could possibly explain the computer room at the Clinton's New York home, burning beyond recognition after the announcement was made midweek.
Coupled with the politicization of the Mueller investigation and the Dossier that we now know was paid for by the DNC and used for FISA warrants to illegal spy on the candidate and then-President Elect, this week was horrific for the Left - much worse than the firestorm over mental health issues and tawdry Trump tales. Perhaps we can surmise the whole outcry over Trump's mental health is nothing more than a smokescreen to deflect their wrongdoings and criminality.
Crazy Reality...
Looking at what President Trump has achieved over the last year, if he is 'nuts' then, by God, bring on the nut brigade because average Americans haven't seen prosperity like this since the Reagan years. As for real mentally insanity, we need not look any further than the Left and their conduits for a plethora of examples of mentally unhinged.
Someone, please pass me the popcorn!

A Viewer Writes: Cedarhurst Mobile Home Park in Salisbury
Joe,
We live in Cedarhurst Mobile Home park in Salisbury. In mid October we came home to find a letter on our door that the park was being sold. Our park is at least 95% senior citizens living on a fixed income. On December 1 we all got a letter taped to our front doors with a lease stating all lot rent would increase to $395 a month (most of us were paying around $250) so this a large increase to take effect January 1, 2018 and to sign the lease and return it or move by January 31, 2018. The company that purchased our park has also purchased Walston Switch and we are told they are also purchasing 3 other parks in our area. We did a petition, we have had resident meetings and we invited the manager to one of those meetings. The park managers are unprofessional, they have slammed the office door in the faces of some residents, have hung up the phone on others and generally don’t have a clue on how to manage a property. The lease is a joke 3 separate addendums, and this recent storm was a joke they didn’t even send in anyone until Friday to attempt a plow and even then it was a partial swipe, if anyone would have needed an ambulance they wouldn’t have been able to get in. This is the same company that purchased Frontier Town and Fort Whaley last year. We the residents are fighting, kicking and screaming to get the word out, we have sent copies (certified mail to the owner and managers) requesting a face to face and why the rent was increased so much. We have told them many of our seniors residents will be either homeless or unable to eat or pay for medications with this large increase. Can you help us get the word out? We have called our elected officials, MAC, Legal Aid, the TV Stations (no one would call us back) and we just don’t know where to turn to next.

Salisbury Maryland Fire Department Leadership Proven To Be Idiots
Blue Stick On Reflectors being found all over Salisbury Maryland. Snow Plows did exactly what everyone said they would do. What a bunch of Idiots! Folks, "it was your election to lose".
Salisbury Maryland Mayor & Police Chief Screwing Over Police Officers For Life
In past lawsuits, Officers left the City with what should've been a black eye on their records, yet these officers have vibrant opportunities elsewhere and are hired immediately.
However, God Forbid you stand up for yourself, leave on honorable terms and are told you'll have a great recommendation. Even your Mayor swears to support you and when these officers relocate, fill out applications, get hired, buy new uniforms and out of nowhere at the very last second, (once the Mayor and Chief find out you've actually been hired) a RED FLAG shows up and the new agency tells you that they cannot hire you after all.
So contractors will refuse to do any work for the City because the Mayor refuses to pay for services rendered. Now Police Officers will read this article after they Google Salisbury Maryland Police Department and it WILL be one of the top 10 articles for YEARS and they'll realize it's a piece of sh!t agency to work for. You can even leave on good or great terms and if they want to screw you simply because you weren't going to put up with their BS, you'll get flagged and can't find work elsewhere. Keep in mind Folks, this is FOREVER. Once a piece of sh!t Police Chief flags you, you're done.
I hope these Officers file a class action lawsuit against the City and get what they deserve. By the way, this isn't the only agency that flags Officers here on the Shore. I'm telling you, these people are just evil. It's called "abuse of power".
You see the crime in Salisbury and this is just what's reported. Yesterday we published a 1st degree rape conviction that had been covered up. However, Officers are being forced to change the CHARGES and are not even willing to arrest people any more, (for the most part) because, why! The Mayor and Chief will just downplay it to lesser charges to keep their stats where they want them to be.
Just out of curiosity, is Mike Lewis, Jake Day and or Barbara Duncan over 5 feet tall?
Trump: "Why Are We Having All These People From Shithole Countries Come Here?"
While a bipartisan senate group had reportedly reached an "agreement in principle" on DACA, as well as packaging immigration reform in order to avoid a government shutdown next Friday, things took another turn for the bizarre, when the WaPo reported that Trump "grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they floated restoring protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries" as part of the proposed deal.
"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" Trump burst out, referring to African countries and Haiti. Instead, he suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway.
The comments left lawmakers "taken aback."
Sens. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) proposed cutting the visa lottery program by 50 percent and prioritizing countries already in the system, a White House official said.
As reported earlier, the administration announced this week that it was removing the protection for over 200,000 citizens from El Salvador; meanwhile, as part of a potential bipartisan deal, lawmakers discussed restoring protections for countries that have been removed from the temporary protected status program while adding $1.5 billion for a border wall and making changes to the visa lottery system.
And, as so often happens, what was until noon a tentative deal, exploded in the afternoon when Trump changed his mind:
Trump had seemed amenable to a deal earlier in the day during phone calls, aides said, but shifted his position in the meeting and did not seem interested.

Maryland Senate overrides Hogan's paid sick leave veto; changes to become law
A controversial measure requiring Maryland employers to provide sick days for their workers will become law.
State senators voted 30 to 17 on Friday to override Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's veto of the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act, which the majority-Democrat General Assembly first passed last year.
The law requires businesses with 15 or more employees to offer up to five days of paid sick leave, while employers with fewer than 15 workers will need to provide five unpaid sick days. It was a top priority for Democrats, who scheduled the override votes to be among the first actions of the 2018 legislative session, which kicked off Wednesday.
The Senate vote came on the heels of the House of Delegates' decision Thursday to overturn Hogan's veto by an overwhelming 88 to 52 vote.

If Only Local Liberal Leaders Used Their Brains
We all saw how Mayor Jake Day instantly came forward with the threat of a fine if you didn't have your sidewalks cleared by 3 PM the following day.
As tight as money is here on the Shore and if I were your leader, I'd create a list of names of people interested in working as sub contractors willing to make a specific amount of money to clear residential sidewalks any time we have a snow storm.
This rate would be reasonable enough for residents to afford and leaves absolutely NO EXCUSE as to why you can't have it cleared in time, SINCE CITY OFFICIALS SEEM TO THINK ITS SUCH AN IMPORTANT THING TO HAVE DONE.
For those who simply want to abuse this BS law anyway, well, they'll get what they deserve because they didn't get out to vote or run for office. Think of all those wives out there sick and tired of their man sitting on their rear end making excuses as to why they're broke or can't find work. It's a win/win all around. And don't think for a second that a large group of determined women wouldn't get on the list, because they would.
What say you now Mayor Day and City Council. Put your money where your mouth is, since you think it's so damn important to have your sidewalks cleared.

Costco price labels perfectly expose the absurdity of Seattle’s new sugary drink tax
To ring in the new year, Seattle implemented a new tax on its residents: the dreaded sugary drink tax. Now, we know just how much the tax will hurt consumers.
How bad is it?
Pricing labels at a Seattle Costco have garnered much attention because they show just how much soda and other sugary drinks now cost Seattle residents. A CBS News manager tweeted pictures showing the price increase of two drinks.
In the first case, the price of a case of Dr. Pepper (36 cans) nearly doubled. According to the picture, Costco sells the soda for $9.99. But with an added tax of $7.56, the soda now costs customers $17.55. In the second case, Costco sells a case of Gatorade for $15.99. But the tax adds $10.34 to the price, which brings the total cost to $26.33.

Salisbury Has Best Year for Construction Since Housing Bubble
Salisbury, MD — Mayor Jake Day announced today that 2017 was Salisbury’s best year for new and infill construction since 2007, with the City tracking over $55.5 million in construction projects.
Several factors influenced the numbers, including an increasingly stronger economy, and incentives in the form of permit fee waivers for builders.
The fee moratorium, adopted by the City Council last February, led to a total of 19 permits being issued for new, single-family homes inside City limits. This makes 2017 the first year since 2007 that a new, single-family housing development has been built in Salisbury. 12 new homes are currently under construction from Sassafras Meadows to Sleepy Hollow, to East Church St, to Camden, to the Hunter’s Crest development on the City’s Eastside.
“As a direct result of the fee moratorium, we see the first new housing development inside the City in a decade. The first new neighborhood,” said Mayor Day. “Direct proof that these incentives are breathing new life into the residential construction market here in Salisbury.”
Construction City-wide has been on the rise as well, with a multitude of commercial projects driving employment up within the sector. From 2016 to 2017, the City of Salisbury Metropolitan Statistical Area added 200 permanent construction jobs.
“Beyond just adding attractive new single-family homes and strengthening our core, we’re strengthening our workforce, putting local paychecks in local pockets,” said the Mayor.
With even more commercial and residential projects lined up for 2018, Mayor Day sees success in the City’s future.
“The progress doesn’t stop with 2017. We will continue to do everything we can to make this City a place where developers, builders, and homeowners can turn lots into houses, houses into homes, and homes into communities. “

BREAKING NEWS: Report Shows Cancerous Contaminants In Local Municipal Water Plants
This is very disturbing information. Who would've ever know, or even thought, that the City of Salisbury is buying water from Fruitland. The more you dig, the more you come to learn some municipalities have some very serious and questionable contaminants. Willards, Delmar and Salisbury show the most concern, IMHO.
The link provided below allows you to type in your zip code and gives you the details you need to know.
Once again SBYNews delivers incredible local information not provided by your mainstream media sources. Have you watched or read them lately? Notice how WE are delivering you major local news while they are a day or two behind us. In fact, I loved how the Mayor of Delmar stated in her interview last night, "we're thinking out of the box". LMAO! I wonder where she got that from.

Amazon Ranks High Among Ohio Employers With Workers on Food Stamps
Amazon ranks high on a list charting Ohio's employers with the most workers and their family members on food stamps — estimated at more than 10 percent of its workforce, the Columbus Dispatch reported.
As of August, Amazon had 1,430 workers and family members on food stamps, ranking 19th on a list of 50 large employers in the state, according to the progressive policy group Policy Matters Ohio, the Dispatch reported.
Since a typical food-stamp beneficiary receives benefits for about two people, Amazon likely has about 700 workers receiving food stamps, more than 10 percent of its Ohio workforce, the news outlet reported.
"We've appreciated having more employment, but maybe we should be focusing economic development dollars on good jobs," Zach Schiller, Policy Matters' research director, told the Dispatch. "It's pretty clear that a lot of these jobs are not good jobs. That should raise a policy question for our public officials, and that's why we think it's worth pointing out."

Dairy farmer gets prison time for hiring illegals

Former Dem 2016 Candidate: Let 'Obsessed' Trump Build Wall If It Saves DACA
Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D) said it is "morally defensible" for Democrats to approve President Trump's planned border wall if it means protecting 800,000 DACA recipients living in the United States.
O'Malley said the wall is unnecessary and said the president has a history of "scapegoating" immigrants like those coming from Mexico.
But, he said that building a wall as Trump intends is small ball compared to his party's wish to give DACA recipients the ability to live freely in the country.
"I don’t think the people of the country believe that [the wall] is needed... But having to say that, if the trade-off for some legislators is that you have to accept Donald Trump’s obsession with his big wall, given the stable genius that he is, in order to make 800,000 people secure in their citizenship in the United States, I think that’s a morally-defensible trade-off," O'Malley, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, said.

White men who can’t get jobs say they’re being discriminated against
An engineer who was fired by Google for circulating an anti-diversity memo sued the company this week, alleging that the tech giant discriminates against white, conservative men. He’s likely not alone in that belief.
There are other white men working in tech who believe their gender and race are making it difficult for them to get ahead, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center about diversity in the science and technology fields.
Pew asked a nationally representative sample of white men with jobs in science, technology, math and engineering (or STEM) fields whether they thought their gender made it harder for them to succeed. Of the 14% who said yes, more than 1 in 10 said they had been affected by reverse discrimination.
When Pew posed a similar question about race to the survey respondents, nearly 20% of those who said race made their job harder cited reverse discrimination as the reason for their challenges.

Some Maryland patients will face a choice: medical marijuana or their gun
Now that medical marijuana is legally available in Maryland, some who want to use the drug to manage health problems face a dilemma: To get the pot, they surrender their right to own a gun.
The question arises because marijuana, even for medicinal purposes, is still illegal under federal law. Authorities have long made it clear to gun dealers that they shouldn’t sell to people who use marijuana medically, and federal law prohibits drug users from owning guns.

Foods that fight inflammation
Doctors are learning that one of the best ways to quell inflammation lies not in the medicine cabinet, but in the refrigerator.
Your immune system becomes activated when your body recognizes anything that is foreign—such as an invading microbe, plant pollen, or chemical. This often triggers a process called inflammation. Intermittent bouts of inflammation directed at truly threatening invaders protect your health.
However, sometimes inflammation persists, day in and day out, even when you are not threatened by a foreign invader. That's when inflammation can become your enemy. Many major diseases that plague us—including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression, and Alzheimer's—have been linked to chronic inflammation.
One of the most powerful tools to combat inflammation comes not from the pharmacy, but from the grocery store. "Many experimental studies have shown that components of foods or beverages may have anti-inflammatory effects," says Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology in the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health.
Choose the right foods, and you may be able to reduce your risk of illness. Consistently pick the wrong ones, and you could accelerate the inflammatory disease process.
