It’s the image that’s launched an ever-growing tide of Internet outrage.
Shown is a smiling father standing behind his apparently none-too-pleased daughter, who’s wearing a T-shirt featuring an image of her muscular dad’s bare torso with this message: “Stay Clear Boys, this is my dad!”
The photo was posted to Reddit on Saturday accompanied by the heading, “Dad security.” While it was on the site’s “Funny” section and some saw it as a joke, not everyone was laughing at the image.

Officer orders woman to sit in hot car after finding her dog locked inside
I think the punishment fits the crime. You know how you see dogs locked in cars on hot days? This police office did what we’ve all wanted to…
A Strongsville police officer who responded to a call about a dog locked inside a hot car said when the owner returned to the car, he ordered her to sit in the hot vehicle with the doors closed and windows rolled up.
An animal lover made the 911 call from Walmart on April 12.
The dog was fine. The woman was said to be fine too, but she looked uncomfortable.

Martin O’Malley’s modern-day know-nothingness
Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is thinking about running for president on the Democratic ticket by appealing to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s populist fans. Warren is a very bright former Harvard law professor. So it is interesting that O’Malley thinks the best way to reach out to her fans is to say remarkably stupid things.
Steve Inskeep, host of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” recently interviewed O’Malley, asking him to respond to something GOP presidential contender Sen. Marco Rubio had said.
Inskeep: “[Rubio] argues that an active government actually keeps people frozen at their economic status because if you are well off, if you can afford a lawyer, if you can deal with regulations, you can maneuver through government and stay prosperous. And if you are not so well off, it’s harder to work the system. Is there some truth to that? You were a big-city mayor; you know how government works.”
O’Malley replied: “No, I don’t think there’s any truth to that.”

Too much sex in colleges? Check out THIS student housing option.
Wesleyan University was founded as an all-male Methodist college in 1831, an independent institution under the auspices of the Methodist conference.
In 1872, Wesleyan was one of the first U.S. colleges to allow a small number of women to attend, known as the “Wesleyan Experiment.” However, in 1909, the board of trustees began to fear the school was losing its “masculine image” and voted to stop admitting women, which it continued until 1970.
MY how things have changed. Now Wesleyan not only accepts women, but every other gender and/or preference in between. In fact, just take a gander at this page from the Wesleyan website regarding student housing at the appropriately-named “Open House.”

ROTC Cadets Required to Wear High Heels With Combat Uniform
Army ROTC cadets at Arizona State University say they were told they had to wear red high heels for an event to draw attention to sexual assault against women.
As part of the the event, "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes," which was hosted by ASU's Army ROTC program on Monday, the cadets wore heels and ran for 1.26 miles for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, according to The State Press, ASU's student newspaper.
However, the Independent Journal Review is reporting that participation was mandatory. One of the cadets explained how he and other members of his battalion were pressured into participating in the event on the social media sharing site Imgr.
"Tomorrow morning our entire rotc battalion [sic] is doing this 'walk a mile in her shoes' event where we all walk a mile in ACUs [Army Combat Uniform] with bright red high heels in place of our boots to promote awareness for sexual abuse on campus," he wrote.

VA Official Grilled In House Hearing Over $300K Relocation Incentive
A House Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing was the scene of a tense exchange Wednesday as a top-ranking VA official was forced to answer questions about a $300,000 relocation package the agency gave her to take a job in Philadelphia last year.
Committee chairman Jeff Miller, a Florida Republican, grilled Diana Rubens, the current director of the Philadelphia VA Regional Benefits Office, about whether such a large payment was needed to incentivize her to move the 140 miles from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia.
“I don’t know that, sir,” Rubens said when Miller asked her during the hearing if she would have taken the Philadelphia job without the package.

Too Often, Some Say, Volunteer Officers Just Want To Play Cop
Bob Ball is a real estate investor in Portland, Ore. — but that's just his day job. For the last 20 years, he's also been a volunteer cop.
"When I was new, it was the best time of my life. I got to go out there and wear a white hat and help people and make a difference in my community, one little piece at a time," Ball says. "That's a very, very fulfilling thing to do."
This is real police work: On one occasion, Ball had to pull his gun on a guy threatening a woman with a knife.
"He ended up dropping the knife and I didn't shoot," he says. "Time sort of slows down a little bit, too, when you get adrenaline, and in my case I saw his eyes get afraid."
Not shooting that guy earned Ball a medal for valor. But police reserve programs vary a lot. Some departments restrict their volunteers' duties to things like handling crowds, while others let reservists go on patrol and make arrests.

Maryland lost 5,700 jobs in March
Maryland employers shed about 5,700 jobs in March, a month when the nation experienced its weakest job growth since 2013, according to estimates released Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The March losses followed seven consecutive months of increased hiring in Maryland, as the state's labor market — which had lagged behind the rest of the country — appeared to be picking up steam.
Payrolls in the public sector fell by 3,300, while the largest private-sector declines came in the professional and business services sector, which cut about 1,700 jobs. Jobs in the construction sector — often used as a bellwether for broader economic activity — declined by about 1,500, while manufacturing lost roughly 900 positions.
There were small gains in sectors such as financial activities, education and health services, and leisure and hospitality.
The unemployment rate in March was unchanged at 5.4 percent, just below the national average of 5.5 percent.
Daraius Irani, chief economist at Towson University's Regional Economic Studies Institute, said he is hopeful that the figures represent a temporary slowdown, as construction and tourism activity usually picks up in the spring.
"The national numbers sort of led the way," he said. "I don't think it portends anything too negative on the horizon. … Right now I'm going to say it's an aberration."
Maryland was one of 31 states to see payrolls decrease in March, the first time in 12 months that the U.S. added fewer than 200,000 jobs.

Why are teens oblivious to the pile of dirty clothes on the bedroom floor?
Teenagers always have been a mystery puzzling their parents: What was he thinking when he drove down a one-way street the wrong way just for kicks? Why is she oblivious to the heap of clothes piled on the bedroom floor for two weeks?
Frances Jensen, a neuroscientist and single mother of two boys, pondered these questions and many more, then delved into the emerging science of the adolescent brain. She came out with provocative new insights for parents, educators, public policymakers and teens themselves.
“I thought, I’ve got the skill set for this. I’m a parent, a neurologist and I care for teen patients,” said Jensen, who was in Washington this week for the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology. “And it was all in the scientific journals not available to the public, locked away in the ivory tower.”

Ex-Cops Get High For 4/20
Here are three cops who are about to change the way we think about police officers. The video is filmed in Washington State, where the use of marijuana has been legalized for recreational activity. These officers were law enforcers for many years. Each has a pot story that goes all the way back to their wonder years. They are normal stories that you might immediately relate to.
When asked if it’s a gateway drug, they’re awesome about their responses. One said it could be used as a gateway drug, but another man on the far right also said that milk could be used as a gateway drug. After all when a baby is born they start drinking milk. So does milk lead people down the road to shooting heroin? Why not!? It’s the same freaking argument. Of course not all milk drinkers shoot heroin, and not all stoners go down the road to smoking crack. That’s the general idea.
After 25 minutes in the video the cops begin doing sobriety tests. This is amazing! They all fail, sort of, but one manages to do better on his second try.

How to know when migrant gravy train arrives in your town
What are the signs that your community has been secretly selected for an infusion of refugees from Muslim nations like Syria or Somalia, or migrant workers from Central America?
The Obama White House released a report last week on the integration of immigrants and refugees that provides some clues.
It could be something as simple as a new billboard along the highway touting the contributions of diverse immigrant populations and refugees. Or maybe you’ll hear a radio spot or see a TV ad delivering the same type of message.
Your city council may pass a proclamation “celebrating” and “welcoming” the “cultural diversity” and economic benefits of refugees and other “new Americans.”
Below is an example of the ads circulating in North Carolina sponsored by a group called Welcoming America, which was started in 2010 with seed money from billionaire George Soros and now works with the federal government to influence Americans’ attitudes toward immigration.

Obama regrets U.S. drone attack that killed 2 Al-Qaida hostages, including Maryland man
WASHINGTON (AP) -- An American and an Italian held hostage by al-Qaida, as well as two Americans working with the terror group, were inadvertently killed by U.S. drone strikes earlier this year, the government revealed Thursday.
President Barack Obama said he took "full responsibility" for the counterterror missions and offered his "grief and condolences" to the families of the hostages.
Obama defended the legality of the January drone strike that killed the hostages and said there had been no evidence that the two men were present at what the U.S. had determined was an al-Qaida compound.

In the Next Decade, Russia Could Deploy 400 Heavy Tanks Anywhere On Earth in Seven Hours
A fleet of heavy transport aircraft, capable of moving a unit of 400 tanks, with ammunition, to anywhere in the world at hypersonic speed. If that sounds like the US to you, I hate to burst your bubble. Alright guys, cue the ominous-yet-epic music:
According to a new design specification from the Military-Industrial Commission in Moscow, a transport aircraft, known as the PAK TA, is able to do all of the above. The PAK TA program envisages 80 new cargo aircraft to be built by 2024. In a decade Russia’s Central Command will be able to place a battle-ready armored army anywhere, Expert Online reports, citing a source in the military who attended the closed meeting.
The new PAK TA will transport Armata heavy missile tanks, and other military hardware such as enhanced self-propelled artillery weapons systems, anti-aircraft missile complexes, tactical missile carriers, multiple launch missile systems, and anti-tank missile fighting vehicles.
A fleet of several dozen PAK TA air freighters will be able to lift 400 Armata heavy tanks, or 900 light armored vehicles, such as the Sprut-SD airborne-amphibious-self-propelled-tank-destroyers. That’s one long description, but where’s the laser fireballs?

Foundation donor and Dem fundraiser Gupta loses Supreme Court appeals bid
Rajat K. Gupta, a former Goldman Sachs executive and Clinton ally, will have to serve out his two-year insider trading sentence after the Supreme Court refused to hear his case on Monday.
Gupta was convicted of insider trading after providing illegal information to the hedge fund billionaire Raj Rajaratnam. The 2012 conviction sidelined one of the Democratic Party’s biggest contributors; the Center for Responsive Politics described Gupta as one of the “most active as donors in the 2008 cycle.” He and his wife Anita gave the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee $30,000 between 2006 and 2008.
“Gupta maxed out on his individual contributions to President Barack Obama’s general election campaign and donated another $2,500 to his Victory Fund, while his wife gave $4,600 to Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid—half of which had to be returned after she failed to advance to the general election,” a 2012 CRP blog post says.
The Guptas poured their money into more than just political campaigns. The couple also gave between $10,001 and $25,000 to the Clinton Foundation. It is unclear whether that donation occurred before or after his 2010 arrest.

Scott Walker Proposes Bold Immigration Platform
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely 2016 GOP presidential candidate, is marching forward with his bold new pro-American worker immigration policy. He’s not afraid to push for a legal immigration system that doesn’t box out American workers with a massive influx of inexpensive foreign labor.
After first rolling out his new ideas on Glenn Beck’s radio program on Monday, Walker appeared on Fox News’ Megyn Kelly’s show to further elaborate on how he hopes to protect Americans economically from special interests pushing for a massive influx in cheap foreign labor from around the world.
“When it comes to immigration, as a governor I don’t have any direct role in that—but having talked to border state governors and having talked to other people, seeing how screwed up immigration has become under this president, it was clear to me talking to them and listening on this issue, traveling to the border actually going there with the governor of Texas Gov. Abbott, seeing the problems there, yeah from my standpoint going forward we need to secure the border, we need to enforce the laws that we currently have with an e-verify system,” Walker said.
“You’re pretty much in line with the other Republican candidates on this,” Kelly asked as a follow-up.
“Well the one thing they’re not saying is we need to make sure as part of that any future legal immigration system that goes forward has to account for American citizens and the workers of this country and their wages to make sure that even with legal immigration in this country we respond to it in a way that doesn’t take jobs away from hardworking Americans,” Walker added, separating himself from the rest of the 2016 field.

Don't Forget To Visit Pork In The Park This Weekend
County Executive Bob Culver wanted to make sure everyone enjoyed this event by making it affordable to all. He reduced the entrance fee from $7.00 per person down to $3.00 per person.
Another exciting announcement is that two Wicomico County Schools have reserved the Wicomico County YOUTH and Civic Center for their Proms this year. This is something that hasn't happened in many years.
Executive Culver REDUCED the fees, making it the most affordable place to celebrate these type of events. Throughout his campaign Mr. Culver listened to the public and agreed, it isn't called the YOUTH and Civic Center for nothing. He agrees that this location shouldn't be about MAKING MONEY.
As for those complaining, (or trying to) about Pork in the Park not being a competition this year, SO WHAT! YOU were never able to taste ANY of the food from the competition anyway. I tip my hat to ALL the people involved by bringing this event back to the County. Next year the County will be back on the competition schedule and you'll see the competition return.
In the mean time, children can enjoy all of the activities as well as all of the Bands that will be performing. I can add that ALL of the vendor spots have been SOLD OUT, so there will be plenty of stuff to purchase and eat.

Police Kill More Whites Than Blacks
Toni Morrison, a black Nobel Prize-winning novelist, says she wants to see an officer shoot an unarmed white teenager in the back before agreeing that the “conversation about race” is over, but she almost certainly already has received her wish.
An analysis released last week shows that more white people died at the hands of law enforcement than those of any other race in the last two years, even as the Justice Department, social-justice groups and media coverage focus on black victims of police force.
“People keep saying, ‘We need to have a conversation about race,’” Ms. Morrison told the (U.K.) Telegraph in an April 19 interview.
Her comments reflect a widespread view that blacks are routinely targeted by law enforcement while whites shot by police are a rarity. Outrage has surged in recent weeks over the high-profile deaths of black men at the hands of police, notably 50-year-old Walter Scott of South Carolina, who was shot in the back and killed April 4 as he tried to run away from an officer after a traffic stop.
The deaths of whites at the hands of law enforcement typically receive less attention, even when the case is shrouded in controversy.
For example, Gilbert Collar, an 18-year-old white student at the University of South Alabama, was shot and killed while naked, unarmed and under the influence of drugs by a black police officer.
The officer, Trevis Austin, was cleared of wrongdoing in 2013 by a Mobile County grand jury in a case that received little media coverage outside Alabama. Mr. Collar’s parents filed a federal lawsuit last year against the officer.

Judge Orders NY Transit Agency to Run ‘Killing Jews’ Ad
A federal judge on Tuesday ordered New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority to display on its buses a controversial ad that refers to Muslims killing Jews, rejecting the argument that the ad could incite terrorism or imminent violence.
U.S. District Judge John Koeltl in Manhattan said the ad from the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which had previously run in Chicago and San Francisco, was protected speech under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
The ad portrays a menacing man wearing a scarf around his head and face, includes a quotation “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah” attributed to “Hamas MTV,” and then states, “That’s His Jihad. What’s yours?”
Koeltl said he was “sensitive” to the security concerns, but noted that the MTA and Chairman Thomas Prendergast “underestimate the tolerant quality of New Yorkers and overestimate the potential impact of these fleeting advertisements. It strains credulity to believe that New Yorkers would be incited to violence by ads that did not incite residents of Chicago and San Francisco.”
MTA buses and subways are often forums for policy debates. The agency has accepted other ads from the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which is characterized as an anti-Muslim group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Top Donors Help Steer Democracy Alliance’s 2016 Strategy
Wealthy liberals who “make significant investments” in Democracy Alliance-backed projects will help guide strategy in 2016 and beyond for the left’s most powerful network of political moneymen, documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon reveal.
High-dollar donors to a new Democracy Alliance effort focused on building Democratic power in the states will be appointed to a panel that will help direct millions in contributions to state-level political and advocacy groups, those documents state.
Alliance president Gara LaMarche said in an email that the group has not yet determined what the contribution threshold will be for a spot on SEI’s advisory board, saying “we have not determined answers to those governance questions yet.” He declined to address questions about disclosure of the group’s donors.
The names of those donors will likely remain a secret, even as the Alliance tries to drum up populist opposition to the post-Citizens United campaign finance landscape that it blames for corrupting American democracy.

This Map Will Let You Know What Your State Can Cheer "We're #1!"
The real estate blog at Estately discovered what each state had more of than any other and compiled this map from the data. A few states, such as Michigan with the most engineers, have something to actually be proud of. Most others, such as Alabama with the most racists tweets, won't be bragging about their number 1 ranking. So are you proud or ashamed?

MIKULSKI, CARDIN AND EAST COAST SENATORS INTRODUCE BILL TO PREVENT ATLANTIC OFFSHORE DRILLING
WASHINGTON – On Earth Day and the week of the five-year anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf Coast, U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.), Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-N.J.), Edward Markey and Elizabeth Warren (both D-Mass.), Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse (both D-R.I.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced the Clean Ocean and Safe Tourism (COAST) Anti-Drilling Act. The legislation prohibits the U.S. Department of the Interior from issuing leases for the exploration, development, or production of oil or gas in the North, Mid-, or South Atlantic Ocean. Earlier this year, the Obama Administration announced plans to open parts of the Atlantic Ocean to offshore oil and gas drilling.
“I am absolutely opposed to offshore drilling and always will be,” Senator Mikulski said. “Offshore drilling can devastate the environment, harming our unique and fragile coastline and wreaking havoc on the coastal communities whose economies rely heavily on tourism. Drilling along the Eastern Seaboard could pose great risks to the coastal economy of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay. I’m proud to support this legislation, and will keep fighting to protect Maryland’s beaches, precious waterways and tourism economy.”
“Oil spills do not respect state boundaries, making the risks of drilling off the Atlantic Coast far greater than the rewards,” said Senator Cardin, a senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. “We are still trying to clean up after the BP oil spill. The Chesapeake Bay, which generates more than $1 trillion in economic activity for the Mid-Atlantic region, does not need yet another threat to its future health and vitality.”

Maryland State Departments To Lay Off 3% of Their Staff
Pink Slips are flying around in the state like there's no tomorrow. ALL "Contractual Employees" in the state are the first to be targeted. The state is asking for volunteers first but get this, by the end of this month, each state department is expected to release 3% of their staff.
Other things you are not hearing from the main stream media is additional companies that are leaving the state of Maryland.
Radio Shack, (for example) just closed their Hagerstown facility/warehouse. 3,000+ employees lost their jobs.
Sardina Cheese closed their operations in Maryland and moved to North Carolina.
I'm told there are companies closing shop like there's no tomorrow and relocating to other states, yet we keep hearing the economy is rebounding. NOT in Maryland, that is.
Governor Hogan has been left with an incredible mess, as has County Executive Bob Culver. I will admit, I am truly enjoying how Hogan is handling this mess and I have to say, he's perfect for the job. He understands business and how business people think. If anyone can turn this difficult situation around, he's the man who will get it done.
To the nay sayers, no, I do not believe it can be done in four years. Hogan will absolutely need a second term to show positive results and that goes for Culver as well.
In the mean time you can all expect people like Jim Ireton to keep throwing sh!t bombs like the Fire Department crap at Culver too distract him. The Media will certainly be ignored because Bob has a difficult job to do and fabricated distractions are nothing but road blocks.
Finally, the tax base in Wicomico County will continue to drop based on the loss of jobs and income. This makes Hogan and Culver's jobs that much more difficult. You can't throw another tax increase at the residents and you can't ask the County to pony up millions of dollars during these hard times and Ireton knows it. Heck, the Liberal Party knows this and that is exactly why they are doing it.
The old saying, "it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better" holds true for the state of Maryland. However, we ALL know cutbacks were a necessary evil based on our former tax and spend liberal leadership. It's going to be a very bumpy ride for a while.
Oh, you should also know that other Counties have already lowered their unemployment times. In other words, you'll get 6 to 8 weeks unemployment and that's about it. There's just not enough money to support long term unemployment any more.

A Letter To The Editor: Hazardous Parking Lot Conditions.
Hello Joe... I just wanted to share with you these pictures. These are only half showing the hazardous conditions in the Milford Street Professional Center parking lot. It has been like this for at least two weeks. There used to be cones marking these areas, but the UPS truck, medical transport vans, and Shore Transit would run over them because there is no way to maneuver around them. You can barely get through this complex with a regular car anyhow by the way the parking was designed to begin with. The first picture shows there are chunks of loose pavement the whole way down the side of this particular building and right in front of the slope to step on to the sidewalk and for wheelchair accessibility. As you can see in the second photo the thrash truck has not picked up the trash out of this dumpster for two weeks because of the barrels are blocking accessibility of the truck getting by. Thank you Sperry Van Ness for being so efficient in getting this repaired quickly. Having patients come in multiple times a week for therapy and being questioned as to who is responsible for getting it done has become tiring. Whoever they have hired to do the job though hasn't had a problem parking their equipment taking up several parking spaces for a week and a half. When it rained a couple of days ago it covered these areas and you could not tell just how deep these areas where. It can do a lot of damage to your car. I am sure the Miller's would not want to drive their nice vehicles through this mess daily! Not to mention some people have to be transported to their wheelchairs to go back and fourth from there doctors office to their car. This whole complex was suppose to be repaved three years ago. But I guess we are just getting patched, and we all know how long that lasts. This complex is so neglected.

Congressional Republicans Go to Bat for Right to Work
Congressional Republicans said they are prepared to defend right to work laws if the National Labor Relations Board attempts to force non-union members to pay union fees and dues.
The NLRB announced a call for briefs last week following a regional ruling that a local AFL-CIO affiliate improperly demanded grievance fee payments from non-members.
A call for briefs is generally seen as an indication that the board, which oversees labor relations and union elections, is reconsidering standing precedent. In this case the board is examining whether non-members exercising their rights to opt out of coercive unionism can still be made to pay labor groups.
“The [union] asks the Board to adopt a rule allowing unions to charge nonmembers a fee for grievance processing,” the agency said in its call for briefs. “If such fees were held lawful in principle, what factors should the Board consider to determine whether the amount of such a fee violates [existing labor law]? What actions could a union lawfully take to ensure payment?”
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Labor Committee, pledged to fight for the rights of employees to resist union pressure. He said the federal agency was overreaching into the nation’s 25 right-to-work states.
“This is an ominous move and one which I will do everything in my power to stop,” he said in a statement. “For nearly 70 years federal labor law has expressly given states the right to decide whether or not to have a right-to-work law.”

Kochs May Back Five GOP Presidential Candidates
One day after billionaire businessman and Republican mega-donor David Koch lauded Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, his brother Charles Koch said the brothers' network might back several GOP presidential hopefuls.
The Kochs have settled on five candidates they think have a good message and "a good chance of getting elected," Charles Koch told USA Today.
The five are Walker; former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush; and Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Marco Rubio of Florida.
"What we've told them all is that right now, we're not supporting anyone," Koch told USA Today. "We're telling them that if they want our support, one way to get it is articulating a good message to help Americans get a better understanding and a better appreciation of how certain policies … will benefit them and will benefit all America."
The Kochs would select one over the others only if someone stands out with a message detailing what he would do to benefit America and has a legitimate chance of being elected, Koch said.
"What we expect them to do is to compete on who has a more positive message for America, rather than what's wrong with some other candidate and did he smoke pot when he was 15 or whatever."

Big Oil’s Latest Fear: A Price Shock After $114 Billion of Cuts
As the oil patch grows accustomed to a new world of $50 to $60 crude, it’s now looking ahead to a different but equally daunting sort of cliff.
Oil companies are warning there will be a price to pay -- a much higher price -- for all the cost cutting being done today to cope with the collapse in the crude market. Big projects intended to start pumping oil and natural gas 5 to 10 years from now are being canceled or put on hold as the price crash forced $114 billion in spending cuts on the industry.
Energy giants from Exxon Mobil Corp. to Royal Dutch Shell say they’re taking a much more cautious approach to approving projects that cost billions and take years to complete. That’s setting the table for a future oil-price shock when a growing world population drives higher demand, said oil executives and financiers at the IHS CeraWeek Energy Conference in Houston.
“What we decide today will have an effect on the future,” Patrick Pouyanne, chief executive officer of Total SA said Tuesday during the event. Postponing spending on mega-projects that usually deliver significant quantities of oil or gas “will have an impact. This could affect supply in three or four years.”
Demand has already begun to show signs of strength. The Paris-based International Energy Agency last week raised its forecast for 2015 demand, projecting that the world will consume 94.7 million barrels a day of crude in the fourth quarter, a potential increase of almost 1 million barrels over the same period in 2014.

A new documentary blows the lid off the shady underpinning of the Taser industry
You won't find a timelier or more relevant film at this year's Tribeca Film Festival than "Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle."
Nick Berardini's debut feature explains how two brothers built the world's largest Taser manufacturer, armed and helped train most of America's police departments, and became millionaires in the process.
Rick and Tom Smith founded Taser International in 1993 and have sold their stun gun to almost all of the US' 18,250 law-enforcement agencies (only about 450 police departments do not deploy the Taser), according to the company.
As the film progresses, these seemingly innocuous figures appear more and more sinister as we see them jump through hoops to avoid taking responsibility for the potential harm their product inflicts.

MSP Press Release 4-23-14 (Berlin Barrack)
ANOTHER CITIZEN REPORT OF IMPAIRED DRIVING LEADS TO ARREST OF SAME SUBJECT: On April 21, 2015, the Berlin Barrack arrested 24 year old Justin Michael Sauve for driving while under the influence of drugs, as well as driving on a suspended and revoked driver's license. On April 22, 2015, at approximately 1740 hrs (5:40 pm), another lookout was received by a concerned citizen regarding the negligent driving pattern of the same vehicle Justin Michael Sauve was driving yesterday. Troopers again located the vehicle traveling eastbound along US Route 50 in the area of Seahawk Road, and they once again identified the operator as Sauve. He was arrested for driving on a suspended and revoked license, as well as driving under the influence of drugs. He was transported to a court commissioner where he was ordered to be held at the Worcester County Detention Center on a $5000 bond.
CITIZEN REPORT OF IMPAIRED DRIVING LEADS TO ARREST: On April 21, 2015, at approximately 1647 hrs (4:47 pm), a citizen reported to the Berlin Barrack a vehicle that was swerving from lane to lane traveling along US Route 50. A short time later troopers located the vehicle identifying the driver as 24 year old Justin Michael Sauve. It was determined Sauve's license to drive was suspended and revoked. He also exhibited signs of impairment by CDS (drugs). Probable cause was developed to search the vehicle and several items including trace amounts of suspected heroin and trace amounts of suspected marijuana were located along with several hypodermic needles. Sauve failed standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for driving while impaired, CDS charges, and driving while suspended and revoked. Case # 15-MSP-014081
Japanese train sets world speed record at over 373 miles per hour — further humiliating the US rail industry
Japan's seven-car maglev, short for "magnetic levitation" train, set a world speed record Tuesday in a test run near Mount Fuji, clocking more than 373 mph (600 kph).
The record came less than a week after the company clocked 366 mph (590 kph), then breaking its own 2003 record of 361 mph (581 kph).
The maglev hovers 4 inches above the tracks and is propelled by electrically charged magnets.
Central Japan Railway wants to have a train in service in 2027 plying the route between Tokyo and the central city of Nagoya, a distance of 177 miles (286 kilometers).

A New Dark Age: When College Doesn't Pay
If you're so smart, why aren't you rich? One day, as ignorance becomes an ideal to strive for, that question might be replaced with, "If you're so dumb, why aren't you rich?"
The possibility that evolution might take a wrong turn and transform us into a society of imbeciles was dramatized in the movieIdiocracy. That process is beginning today as education is no longer rewarded. A look at the labor force participation rate for college graduates shows a steady decline since the data was first tracked.

Gun Activists Start 3 Recalls In Oregon, Prepare For More
Advancement of legislation that would require criminal background checks for private gun transfers has sparked a recall effort in Oregon by gun rights activists.
According to The Oregonian, papers were filed Wednesday against State Senator Chuck Riley and State Representative Susan McLain, both in their first terms and “part of an expanded Democratic majority enabled, in part, by campaign donations from gun-control advocates.”
Riley received money from former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg for his campaign where he narrowly defeated the Republican incumbent. McLain and Riley sponsored the gun control bill, SB941.
Papers were also filed against state House Majority Leader Val Hoyle, who expected this ridiculous legislation to move quickly through her chamber.
Recall organizers told The Oregonian that they expect more recall papers to be filled.

Willie Nelson Becomes Latest Celebrity in Marijuana Business
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Country music star Willie Nelson announced plans Monday to roll out his own brand of marijuana, capitalizing on his association with pot and the unofficial stoner holiday, 4/20.
The move makes the 81-year-old "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die" singer the latest celebrity to jump into the marijuana marketplace.
"Willie's Reserve" will be grown and sold in Colorado and Washington, where recreational pot is legal. Nelson said in a statement that he's "looking forward to working with the best growers in Colorado and Washington to make sure our product is the best on the market."
Nelson joins other famous pot personalities, including rapper Snoop Dogg, who endorses vaporizing products; singer Melissa Etheridge, developing marijuana-infused wine; and reality TV star and self-help guru Bethenny Frankel, who is working on a strain of Skinnygirl weed that wouldn't leave users with the munchies.

Postal Service Drones?
Amazon is not the only outfit considering package delivery by drone. So is the Postal Service. Federal Times reports, it's narrowed the range of companies it will let submit bids for a new fleet of delivery trucks. Many familiar names make the list, including Ford, AM General, Fiat-Chrysler and Nissan North America. Also on the list is Workhorse, a manufacturer of chassis for many familiar delivery trucks. It's bidding an all-electric panel truck with a drone launcher on top. The company developed the flying device, dubbed Housefly, in conjunction with the University of Cincinnati. The idea is for the delivery person to handle small mail on a given route while the drone handles the packages.
