I am sending this anonymously because I value my job. I was made aware of something recently through speaking with my colleagues, and there is proof that Chief Duncan and Mayor Day are fudging the crime stat numbers. You can do a little digging if you'd like, but all information they present to the public and the "lowest crime in years" stuff is because they are only reporting the crimes the SPF themselves are responding to. They do not include county sheriff, state police or anything else they themselves don't respond to, even though these crimes are happening inside the city also.

Governor Hogan Declares July 5 a Holiday for State Employees
ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the July 4 Independence Day holiday for state employees will be extended to include Friday, July 5, 2019.
Since the July 4 holiday falls on a Thursday this year, the governor is granting state employees an additional day to gather with their families and enjoy the many celebrations taking place throughout the state.
“We have some tremendous family-friendly events taking place all around the state, not only on the Fourth of July, but throughout the entire weekend,” said Governor Hogan. “I hope the long holiday will encourage Marylanders to spend more time together and celebrate our nation’s independence with all we have to offer here in our great state.”
To avoid disrupting class and exam schedules, Maryland state universities will have the option to remain open on July 5 and schedule the additional holiday at a later date.

Protesters approved to fly 'Baby Trump' balloon during Trump's Fourth of July address on National Mall
The National Park Service approved an application from a group of protesters to fly a "Baby Trump" balloon on the National Mall this Fourth of July.
People affiliated with the group Code Pink filed the permit application for July 4 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their application had asked for access to an "open grassy area nearest to Lincoln Memorial."
NPS Chief Spokesperson Mike Litterst confirmed the application had been approved but said they hadn't given the group a permit yet.
"We are working with the applicants to determine the location and specific conditions under which the demonstration will take place," Litterst said in an email.

Hundreds of employees of the online home goods company Wayfair will stage a walkout on Wednesday in protest against its involvement in furnishing border camps.
Employees organizing the walkout at the firm’s Boston headquarters say they demanded the company stop its partnership with a government contractor to provide beds for detained immigrants.
“We believe the current actions of the United States and their contractors at the Southern border do not represent an ethical business partnership Wayfair should choose to be a part of,” the letter signed by 547 employees said.

A Disaster Waiting to Happen’
A growing number of Democrat 2020 candidates are describing former Vice President Joe Biden as a “disaster waiting to happen” if he is chosen to represent Democrats as the front runner in the 2020 presidential election.
Former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-AK), one of the few 2020 candidates who did not go to the South Carolina Democratic Convention this weekend, did not hold back his criticism of Biden while others attending the convention remained more restrained in their remarks.
Gravel called Biden “unchanging, unapologetic, and unaware,” referencing the former vice president’s recent comments on working with segregationist Democrats in the 1970s.
The former Alaska senator also called the former vice president “a disaster” and voiced his desire for a “serious progressive” to take the White House in 2020.

De Blasio said, “We have been addressing income inequality in New York City by raising wages by raising benefits and putting money back in the hands of the people with $15 minimum wage, paid sick days, pre-k for all. Things that are making a difference in people’s lives. What we are hearing in the first round is that battle for the heart and soul of our party. I want to make it clear. This is supposed to be the party of working people. Yes, we are supposed to be for 70% tax rate on the wealthy. Yes, we are supposed for free college, free public college for young people.We are supposed to break up big corporations when they are not serving our democracy.”

Treasury watchdog to review Harriet Tubman $20 bill delay decision
The U.S. Treasury's watchdog has confirmed it plans to review the decision behind delaying a new $20 bill featuring Harriet Tubman.
Treasury's Acting Inspector General Rich Delmar said in a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer that the office would include Schumer's request for an investigation focusing on the delay into a broader audit that's about to get underway.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told a congressional committee last month that a redesign of the $20 featuring Tubman would have to be delayed and the new bills would not be out until 2028.
The redesign featuring the abolitionist leader was initially scheduled by the Obama administration to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote.

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has added “gay and lesbian couples” to the growing list of groups for whom she would support reparations.
Citing a tax code that was “discriminatory” against non-heterosexual married couples, Warren tweeted Saturday, “It wasn’t until marriage equality became law that gay & lesbian couples could jointly file tax returns—so they paid more in taxes. Our government owes them more than $50M for the years our discriminatory tax code left them out. We must right these wrongs.”
Warren’s Refund Equality Act, introduced June 20, would retroactively apply “married-filing jointly” status — along with refunding the amount overpaid — to same sex couples who were married in states where such unions were recognized prior to the federal government doing so in 2013.

All too often, advocates of strict gun control promise that more complex and convoluted laws will save lives without imposing a serious burden on the right of law-abiding citizens to exercise their constitutional rights.
Their argument simply doesn’t hold up. Their gun control laws fail not only to address how actual criminals get their firearms, but they also impose a real burden on ordinary citizens’ Second Amendment rights. They even risk making felons out of otherwise law-abiding citizens.
If that sounds like an exaggeration, just look to the case of Ronald Stolarczyk of Oneida County, New York. He’s now facing felony charges for lawfully protecting himself against criminals without first getting the county’s permission to possess a handgun in his home—something that would cost him hundreds of dollars and months of paperwork.

Minnesota city council has voted unanimously to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance
Members of the city council for a Minneapolis suburb have voted to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance before council meetings, citing an effort to "create a more welcoming environment." CBS Minnesota reports the St. Louis Park city council voted unanimously to make the change that will take effect on July 15.
"In order to create a more welcoming environment to a diverse community, we are going to forgo saying the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting," said Council Member Tim Brausen. At the meeting, Brausen said members might recite it in the future if there's an appropriate opportunity, like if Boy Scouts are there.

The Town of Ocean City and a Boardwalk tram driver are headed to court in November in a lawsuit filed by a woman who alleges she suffered a traumatic leg injury when a tram struck her in September 2017.
Mona Jones, 64, and her husband Gregory Jones, both of Westminster, are suing for $75,000 plus attorney fees stemming from a tram collision on the Boardwalk near Eighth Street that occurred on Sept. 16, 2017.
The lawsuit claims Jones was struck while dismounting from a bicycle next to a bench, and alleges the 2003 model tram car in question was in disrepair due to rusty mechanisms.
According to the lawsuit, the tram driver who hit Jones was heading south near Eighth Street and was moving back to the center of the Boardwalk after passing another tram.

Now, intolerant bureaucrats are telling Bethel that not only is it barred from the program, but it has to pay back the $100,000 it received—which, to a small academy like this one, is a financial death sentence.

ICE Moves To Deport Driver Who Killed 5 Marine Veterans After Government Incompetence Failed To Revoke License
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed an immigration detainer on the Ukranian born driver responsible for killing seven, including five Marine veterans, in New Hampshire during "Bike Week" after his pick-up truck struck a group of motorists last Thursday.
According to Conway Daily Sun, "Zhukovskyy, 23, of West Springfield, Mass., was charged with seven counts of negligent homicide for driving erratically after allegedly crossing the double yellow center line on the rural road and striking a group of motorcyclists, killing seven and injuring three."
The accident occurred on June 21, but Zhukovskyy never should have been behind the wheel in the first place. His illustrious history with the law includes a drunk driving charge in 2013, a drug charge in 2017, another narcotics arrest in 2019, another drunk driving arrest in May of 2019, and a recent accident on June 3, 2019, which resulted in his truck being overturned on a Texas highway.

Pete Buttigieg reflects on his military service in defense of national anthem protests
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on Thursday defended athletes who choose to kneel during the national anthem, saying that he served in the military to defend their right to do just that.
"I felt that I was watching Americans exercise a right that I had put my life on the line to defend," the South Bend, Indiana, mayor said during a live interview with The Washington Post when asked about athletes who kneel to protest police brutality and the mass incarceration of African Americans.
"The point of defending free speech is not that you expect to be perfectly aligned with every speech that is protected," he added, saying that this dynamic is a "huge part of what makes America, America."

South Dakota Parade Float Causes Controversy
The celebration of Highmore's 50th annual Settler's Day was a success.
"It's just a wonderful time to get together and come back home," said Vikki Day, the Mayor of Highmore.
But one parade float did get people talking.
"I had to think about it with the mask of Obama, coming out as racist," said Jeff Damer, the creator of the controversial float.
The float portrays former President Barack Obama in a cage with Hillary Clinton, while current President Donald Trump stands on the outside.
"I just wanted to put it out there, it was just my view that I feel that they should be charged, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton," said Damer.

Wisconsin Pastor Alvin Dupree has encountered controversy after the Christian minister referenced his faith in a speech to graduates of Appleton North High School.
Dupree, who was elected to the Appleton school board in 2017, gave an address at the school's class of 2019 commencement ceremony this month.
"For me, my source of strength is my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ," Dupree said, according to the Appleton Post-Crescent. "It sounds like I got some believers in this room, if you're here, you believe in that, go ahead and clap your hands."
He later added, "Never succumb to the pressure of being politically correct," and ended his speech by modifying the language supplied by the school.
"Now, it was typed out to say 'Best wishes,'" he said. "But I'm changing their script to what I would say: 'God bless.'"
The Freedom From Religion Foundation told Fox 11 News that it received numerous complaints from students and parents about the speech.

A House panel voted to subpoena President Trump’s top aide, Kellyanne Conway, after she refused to testify before the panel about alleged violations of the Hatch Act.
The Democratic-led House Oversight Committee on Wednesday approved the subpoena after a contentious hearing over whether Conway broke the law when she talked politics during media appearances.
“The American people demand that our public officials follow the law and be held accountable for their actions,” Oversight panel Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said. “Through this resolution, the committee demands answers and requires Ms. Conway to provide those answers under oath.”

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke has unveiled a proposal for a progressive new "war tax" on non-military American households, as part of a broader plan aimed at providing better support for veterans.
What are the details?
The O'Rourke campaign unveiled the former Texas congressman's four-pronged plan on Monday, wherein he calls for the establishment of a new Veterans Health Care Trust Fund for each war the U.S. fights. Each trust fund would be accompanied by a "war tax" that would be "levied on households without current members of the Armed Forces or veterans of the Armed Forces."
The announcement reads, "This modest tax would be implemented on a progressive basis, with taxpayers who make over $200,000 per year (adjusted gross income) paying $1,000 in a new tax for each war." Politico reported that the war taxes would start at "$25 for taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes below $30,000."
Reuters noted that O'Rourke "did not specify what types of war, or the scale and origins of the wars, on which the tax would be levied."

The Democratic presidential candidate’s new proposal calls for the federal government to wipe clean the student debt held by 45 million Americans, including all private and graduate school debt, The Washington Post reported. The proposal package also includes making public universities, community colleges and trade schools tuition-free.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash-South Bethany
South Bethany- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on June 14, 2019.
Based on investigative analysis, the incident occurred on June 14, 2019 at approximately 12:57 a.m., when a 2011 Mercedes GLK 350, four door sedan, was traveling northbound on York Road approaching Rebecca Road. York Road is a residential roadway that terminates at a canal access ramp a short distance north of Rebecca Road. A thin cable wire was strung across the entrance to the access ramp. For unknown reasons, after passing Rebecca Road, the Mercedes continued traveling northbound where it entered onto the canal access ramp, struck and ran through the cable wire, and entered into the canal. Once entering into the canal, the Mercedes sank to the bottom and was located on June 29, 2019.
The operator, identified as 70-year-old Linda Bravo of Bethany Beach was located on June 28, 2019 and pronounced deceased. She had been listed as a missing person through the Bethany Beach Police Department since her disappearance on June 14, 2019.
The incident occurred within a residential community, and no roadways were closed during the investigation.
The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Accrediting agency puts UMD on warning due to “significant” concerns
A commission charged with reviewing the University of Maryland after the fallout from the death of a football player declined to reaffirm the school’s accreditation Thursday — placing it instead on a “warning” status.
Losing accreditation — a measure of an institution’s reputability — could mean students would be ineligible for federal financial aid, among other consequences. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which can revoke accreditation status, has been investigating this university for several months.
The commission announced Friday that it had “concerns [that] were significant enough” to place the school on “warning” and mandate that the probe continue. The school’s accreditation is intact as of now and will remain so during the next stage of the review.

U.S. Warning: Iranian Hackers Hitting Gov Agencies With Cyber Attacks
The American government sent an internal warning to federal agencies on Friday disclosing a rise "in malicious cyber activity" by Iranian regime hackers who are threatening sensitive computer systems, according to a copy of the warning obtained by the Free Beacon.
"The US Government has confirmed a recent rise in malicious cyber activity directed at US industries and government agencies by Iranian regime actors and proxies," an e-mail sent to employees of the Environmental Protection Agency reads. "Rising tensions between the US and Islamic Republic of Iran has resulted in targeted cyber campaigns that use destructive ‘wiper' attacks. These attacks are designed to delete and wipe data rather than the more common ransomware tactics of stealing data or money."
The hack attacks come as tensions between the U.S. and Iran hit a boiling point following Tehran's downing of an American drone in the Persian Gulf region. While Iran has always attempted to hack American systems, the government-wide warning could signify the Islamic Republic is becoming more emboldened on the cyber front.
"The ‘wiper' attacks can be carried out through spear phishing, password spraying and credential stuffing. What initially appears as an account compromise and data loss, can quickly turn into the entire network being compromised or destroyed," according to the government warning.

With the amount of information the U.S. Census gathers every decade, it seems logical that one of the questions asked would be simply, “Are you a citizen of the United States?” Yet the very idea of asking this simple “yes” or “no” question outraged the Left — which is in a headlong rush to offer free stuff to anyone who arrives. And leftists found a judge and a Supreme Court willing to stop the Trump administration from adding this longstanding question back into the 2020 census.
While conventional wisdom held that SCOTUS would grant the administration’s request, the Left’s Hail Mary pass was the unearthing of an unreleased report penned by a now-deceased GOP consultant claiming the citizenship question could assist Republican candidates. Leftists struck pay dirt when a Barack Obama-appointed judge deemed that what’s become known as the Hofeller files — discovered and released by the estranged daughter of the late consultant Thomas Hofeller, who died last year — “raises a substantial issue” regarding the Trump administration’s claim that the question would assist in enforcing the Voting Rights Act. Opponents of the question contend that adding it would reduce responses from minorities despite the fact that citizens are required by law to do so.
As speculated here earlier this month, the ever-capricious Chief Justice John Roberts was the one handed Democrats a victory with another of his weirdly contorted decisions. He aided the Left in at least temporarily blocking the question, which Roberts said was valid but that the Trump administration “did not provide adequate reasoning” for its inclusion.
As The Wall Street Journal explains, “The question in Department of Commerce v. New York was whether Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross acted within his purview in reinstating a citizenship question on the 2020 census.
That’s not the question the Court ended up deciding. Instead, the Chief held that, although Mr. Ross acted lawfully, his motives appear to have been less-than-pure.”
In other words, Roberts’s decision had to do with process and motives, not the Constitution.

21 MD Animal Shelters Waiving Adoption Fees for Felines in July
After finding homes for 2,590 cats and kittens in Maryland last July, Baltimore County Animal Services, Baltimore Humane Society, BARCS and the Maryland SPCA—all members of the Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance (BAWA)—have once again partnered and invited other animal shelters in Maryland to join them for the third annual Maryland 2,000: Saving Lives Across Maryland adoption event. Participating shelters will be waiving adoption fees for all cats and kittens adopted in July.
"Summer is one of the busiest times of the year for animal shelters," said Christine Decorse, executive director of Baltimore Humane Society. "Known as 'Kitten Season,' it's when most kittens are born and when animal shelters in Maryland see a huge influx of kittens and cats coming through their doors."

Police confirm Bravo, car found in South Bethany
The body of a Bethany Beach woman who had been missing for two weeks was found in a South Bethany canal just before 6 p.m. on Friday, June 28.
Approximately 16 hours later, Linda Bravo’s car was found in the canal, not far from where her body had been found, according to Capt. Darin Cathell of the Bethany Beach Police.
As of noon Saturday, June 29, Bravo’s body had been positively identified by the state Medical Examiner’s office, Cathell said.
Based on evidence gathered at the scene, Cathell said police believe Bravo’s death was caused by accidental drowning. “At this time we don’t suspect any type of foul play,” he said, based on preliminary information gathered by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.

VB shooting survivor arrested after telling boss he didn’t want to work in Building 2
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – It’s been one month since the mass shooting inside Building 2 at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. One of the employees there that day spent a night behind bars this week for allegedly disturbing the peace after he refused to return to the building.
“It’s a nightmare,” said John McIvor.
That nightmare for Jon McIvor began May 31. He was in Building 2 when a gunman killed 12 of his co-workers.
“I can’t believe somebody would do something like that,” McIvor added.
McIvor works in the IT department. For the past month he has been in Building 17. This week he was told he was going back to Building 2.
“People lost their lives in there and right now I wasn’t ready to get back in there and work,” McIvor said.

Local Chicken Farmers Featured in New National Video on Sustainability
Washington, D.C. (June 27, 2019) – Further delivering on its commitment to transparency, the National Chicken Council (NCC) unveiled a new video featuring four chicken farms in Maryland and Delaware, that offers consumers a first-hand look onto the farms and their various sustainability practices.
The video features Rachel Rhodes, who raises chickens for Allen Harim; Janice Vickers, who raises chickens for Perdue Farms; and Michelle Chesnik and Terry Baker, who raise chickens for Mountaire Farms.
“I think that any farmer in Maryland is concerned with our environment,” said Rachel Rhodes of Centreville, Md. “Because we live in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and we have so many regulations and permits that we adhere to, it's on the forefront of our minds every single day, from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed. How can we make sure that we're protecting the Bay for ourselves and for our children?
“Making sure that it’s sustainable and that our kids get to farm on this property is incredibly important to us,” she continued. “If you're not taking care of your soil and your air, then you have nothing. And, making sure that we do that, either through our cropland production or in our chicken houses, it’s just our lifeblood. It's important for us to run a farm that is sustainable because we have children who will inherit this farm, and we want to make sure they can have this farm in 100 years.”
Michelle Chesnik of Willards, Md. added, “For us, our chicken farm is not only a chicken farm, or a commercial operation, it's our home. And I want our home to be sustainable. I want the community I live in to be sustainable, and to give the best I can to the environment. You only get out of the environment what you put into it. Being sustainable is all part of being a really good neighbor.”
“I like maintaining the farm, keeping it under control and keeping it clean,” said Janice Vickers of Millsboro, Del. “And we don't want to pollute anything. I raised my children here, and we all go out and go fishing and boating, and just like everybody else, I want to keep the environment clean.”
“My father was raised on Deal Island and we went out on the water a lot,” said Terry Baker of Millsboro, Del. “We crabbed, fished a lot growing up, and I want my children to be able to do the same. So, it became very important to us to make sure that we had a positive impact on the environment. The Chesapeake Bay is a national treasure. We spent a lot of time there growing up, and taking my kids camping at Assateague Island, fishing and swimming. I work every day to do my best to preserve it for my grandchildren one day.”

Rider University is selling one of its satellite campuses to a Chinese company on Monday, according to a Purchase and Sale Agreement signed last year by the school’s Board of Trustees.
Beijing Kaiwen Education Technology Co. Ltd will buy Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, next week. The Chinese education company is expected to spend $40 million on the Rider University satellite campus.
The Rider University Board of Trustees first announced last year that it had signed a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the transfer of Westminster Choir College, which also includes the Westminster Conservatory and Westminster Continuing Education.
In addition to the $40 million purchase, the company is also pledging to spend $16 million for capital and working capital expenditures in Westminster over a five year period, according to Rider University.
Not everyone, however, is pleased about the acquisition.
The university’s administration is facing two lawsuits challenging the legality of selling the satellite campus to the Chinese company, which includes an investigation by New Jersey’s Office of the Attorney General.

OCEAN CITY — Two weeks after being identified as the suspect in a double-stabbing on the Boardwalk, a Pennsylvania man this week waived extradition and is heading back to Worcester County to face first- and second-degree assault charges.
On Monday, June 10, with the help of the city-wide surveillance system and an alert resort hotel employee, the Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) identified Harold Rafael Nunez-Dominguez, 19, of Harrisburg, Pa., as the suspect in a double-stabbing incident on the Boardwalk the night before. In the two weeks since, Nunez-Dominguez has been in custody in Pennsylvania awaiting an extradition hearing that would send him back to Worcester County to face trial.
On Monday, Nunez-Dominguez waived extradition and will now be transferred back to Worcester County to face trial for his role in the June 9 incident on the Boardwalk. FBI Urges Universities To Monitor Some Chinese Students And Scholars In The U.S.
U.S. intelligence agencies are encouraging American research universities to develop protocols for monitoring students and visiting scholars from Chinese state-affiliated research institutions, as U.S. suspicion toward China spreads to academia.
Since last year, FBI officials have visited at least 10 members of the Association of American Universities, a group of 62 research universities, with an unclassified list of Chinese research institutions and companies.
Universities have been advised to monitor students and scholars associated with those entities on American campuses, according to three administrators briefed at separate institutions. FBI officials have also urged universities to review ongoing research involving Chinese individuals that could have defense applications, the administrators say.
"We are being asked what processes are in place to know what labs they are working at or what information they are being exposed to," Fred Cate, vice president of research at Indiana University, tells NPR. "It's not a question of just looking for suspicious behavior — it's actually really targeting specific countries and the people from those countries."
In a statement responding to NPR's questions, the FBI said it "regularly engages with the communities we serve. As part of this continual outreach, we meet with a wide variety of groups, organizations, businesses, and academic institutions. The FBI has met with top officials from academia as part of our ongoing engagement on national security matters."
While law enforcement agents have discussed university monitoring of other nationalities as well, these FBI briefings addressed visitors from China in particular who are involved in science, technology, engineering and math.

Texas police video shows arrest of Volodymyr Zhukovskyy months before deadly N.H. crash
BOSTON (CBS) – Body camera video from police in Texas shows the arrest of Volodymyr Zhukovskyy months before he was charged in a fatal crash that killed seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire.
On February 11, Zhukovskyy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in Baytown, Texas after police say they found him intoxicated with a crack pipe at a Denny’s restaurant.

Ocean City doubles receptacles for cigarette butts
After finalizing placement parameters, Ocean City has more than doubled the number of cigarette “butt huts” being installed on street ends west of the Boardwalk in an effort to recycle one of the most common forms of litter on the planet.
Public Works Director Hal Adkins said since the city was awarded a $2,000 grant from the Worcester County Health Department last November, the city has worked with the Maryland Coastal Bays Program to see discarded butts land in a better place that does not involve littering the roadways or floating out into area waters.
Adkins said his department had constructed 40 cigarette butt huts, which are similar to those located along the beach, but has ramped up production following a review of possible locations.

The Kirwan Commission work group that is developing new funding formula proposals for the state’s public school systems over-shadowed the main request made by the board of education during a Worcester County Commissioners meeting last Tuesday.
At issue was whether the commissioners would approve the teacher salary increases that were called for and funded by the Maryland General Assembly’s education bill, The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

Chick-fil-A worker climbs through drive-thru window to save choking boy
HALL COUNTY, Ga. —A Chick-fil-A worker in Georgia sprang into action when he saw a little boy suffocating in a nearby car.
The boy's mother was begging for help.
"I'm still kind of shocked right now myself that all this has happened," Logan Simmons told WSB-TV.
A seat belt was suffocating the 6-year-old boy after becoming twisted around his neck.
In the adrenaline of the moment, Simmons climbed through the drive-thru window to get to the boy as quickly as he could.

Huawei's secret back doors
An investigation of the telecommunications equipment produced by China’s Huawei Technologies Ltd. has uncovered numerous cases of secret access points that could allow Chinese intelligence to conduct cyber-operations through the equipment.
Finite State, a cyber-security research firm, conducted a survey of Huawei equipment and discovered that 55% of Huawei hardware devices it tested contained at least one backdoor access point.
The vulnerabilities in Huawei products pose serious security threats of cyber attack and data ex-filtration if the equipment is used, according to Finite’s report on Huawei published Wednesday.
“The Chinese National Intelligence Law of 2016 requires all companies ‘to support, provide assistance, and cooperate in national intelligence work,’” the report stated. “Even if Huawei may be technically correct in saying that Chinese law doesn’t explicitly ‘compel’ the installation of back doors, China’s intelligence and counter-espionage activities tend to be so expansive that these provisions could be used to justify activities extending well beyond China’s borders.”
The report notes that Huawei dominates the global market for next-generation 5G telecommunications infrastructure. The concern is that all data passing through mobile devices, smart homes and other internet-connected devices will become cyber attack vectors if Huawei equipment is used in 5G networks.

Leading media personalities and top Democratic officials have gone from saying there was no crisis at the southern border to saying there is one in just a few short months.
Hosts on CNN and MSNBC like Joe Scarborough, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Nicolle Wallace and others went along with Democratic talking points earlier this year that the Trump administration had manufactured a crisis at the border to secure wall funding.
Illegal crossings have increased since then, but the situation at the border has been untenable for years. Now with increased reporting on poor conditions at border detention facilities for children, the situation has again been deemed a "crisis."
"He's lied so much about the realities of what he's calling a crisis," Cuomo said in January.

US Customs and Border Protection Press Releases
EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station marine unit saved the life of an undocumented immigrant teen after he and his family, all from Honduras, attempted to cross the Rio Grande River Tuesday afternoon.
“Words cannot express my gratitude nor convey the sense of pride I have for these agents," said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. "Without a doubt, their quick life-saving actions brought this young man back from the brink of death.”
On June 25, Border Patrol agents performing maritime operations on the Rio Grande River observed two individuals struggling to stay afloat near the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. As agents moved to assist, they saw a third person a short distance down-stream, submerged beneath the surface and unmoving. Agents moved closer and pulled the lifeless teen aboard their vessel. The 13-year-old male was unconscious and not breathing, and had been underwater for more than a full minute. The vessel commander quickly performed CPR, assisted by the vessel’s crewman. Through the agents’ efforts, the teen eventually coughed up water, began breathing on his own and regained consciousness. The other two people, later determined to be the rescued teen’s parents, were recovered from the river and all were brought safely to the U.S. shore.
Border Patrol EMT agents were on scene and evaluated the family of three until EMS personnel arrived. They transported the teenage male, accompanied by his mother, to a local hospital for advanced care. After being medically cleared, the family was taken to the Eagle Pass South Station where they were processed per CBP guidelines.
