Pittsville Town Theft Investigation Heads To States Attorneys Office
Back in September 2013 we published an article stating Carla Moore, (the President of the Town Commission's Daughter) has been terminated from her job.
In August of 2013 the Town was audited and they found some discrepancies in the bookkeeping.
It should be clearly noted that there was nothing published in the Daily Times, nor did WBOC or WMDT pick up on this story and allow me to explain.
Salisbury News was created for just this kind of situation. You see, Towns like Pittsville ADVERTISE meetings, foreclosures, past due taxes and so forth, therefore businesses like the Daily Times tend to IGNORE situations like this. Greg Bassett tells people that he refuses to put out information that will bring down Salisbury and Wicomico County, like some others choose to do. Nice cushion there Mr. Bassett. In other words, you REFUSE to tell the TRUTH.
Salisbury News is NOT influenced by our advertisers and I have stated this since day one.
Well, it turns out this case has now been turned over to the States Attorneys Office with the recommendation of charges to be filed.
It turns out we are talking about finances missing, (according to sources) in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
While this is an ongoing investigation I'm confident we'll not get information from the States Attorneys Office, not the Office of the Town attorney Paul Wilber.
Remember Ladies & Gentlemen, there are THREE people that sign off on the checks for the Town. Carla Moore's Father is one of them. It is rumored he is throwing his Daughter under the bus, so to speak.
Am I the bearer of all this BAD NEWS bringing down Salisbury and Wicomico County, (such as WCBOE Gift Cards) or are we the only source willing to blow the whistle on the Eastern Shore Corruption?
Either way, we will continue to do what we do best as we are just as invested in this Eastern Shore as every one of you are. Now let's wait and see what the States Attorneys Office does with this case.

Practice Makes Perfect???
Just moments ago Salisbury Fire Department Station 1 backed into the Fire Station causing damage to the building/structure as well as the Fire Truck.
Now, you have to ask yourself. Was this a professional paid Firefighter? Were they out on an official call? Were they out grocery shopping? Were they out for a breakfast run? Will the driver be drug tested immediately as per City Protocol?
One thing is for sure, this WILL cost the taxpayers.

Autopsy: Police Chokehold Caused NYC Man's Death
A medical examiner ruled Friday that a police officer's
chokehold caused the death of a man whose videotaped arrest and final
pleas of "I can't breathe!" sparked outrage and led to the overhaul of
use-of-force training for the nation's largest police department.
Eric Garner, a black man whose confrontation with a white police officer has prompted calls by the Rev. Al Sharpton for federal prosecution, was killed by neck compressions from the chokehold and "the compression of his chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police," city medical examiner spokeswoman Julie Bolcer said.
Asthma, heart disease and obesity were contributing factors in the death of the 43-year-old Garner, a 6-foot-3, 350-pound father of six, she said.

What Will Happen First, An Economic Collapse or Martial Law
What will happen first? Will we fall under the specter of martial law and all that entails? Or, will we experience an economic collapse prior to martial law?
In the present state of affairs, it is very easy to focus on the invasion of America through our Southern border as the Fifth column insurgents make their way into the country in the form of MS-13 as they prepare to wreak havoc on any opposition to the coming takeover. We are also focused on the presence of unscreened immigrants coming into our country and who are failing to be screened for very serious health conditions such as Ebola. It easy to become fixated on things like the NDAA and unconstitutional, permanent detention. We are very focused on the shoot down of MH-17 and preparing for war with Russia. However, what we should be focusing on is the economic collapse which has already began.
Before we continue with the analysis of what comes first, let’s interject some common sense into this analysis. The global elite need a horrific war to rid themselves of the old system and usher in the new system. Out of chaos comes order. This will set into motion the depopulation agenda that will accompany this coming martial law and World War III. We know the globalists seek to maximize profits at every turn. Therefore, one should ask themselves the question, “How can they globalists make the most money as they usher in the New World Order? The answer is simple, if they want to realize maximum value for their efforts, they should steal as much money from the American people as possible, before collapsing the economy.

Ocean City To Condemn Boat Ramp Property
The Town of Ocean City will initiate condemnation proceedings on land it wants for the proposed 64th Street boat ramp, following multiple failures over the past several weeks to buy the property or to obtain an easement to use it.
Property owner Robert Kirchiro said earlier this week that he had pulled back from offers by both the city and the owner of Dead Freddie’s Restaurant, the property adjacent to his, to buy the land.
“I don’t want to do business with them,” Kirchiro said. “It’s dirty pool.”
City Solicitor Guy Ayres said on Wednesday that he had sent a letter to Kirchiro and his partner, Matin Maghsoudzadeh, notifying them that the city intends to condemn.

PRINCE GEORGE'S CO. WOMAN KILLED IN CRASH INVOLVING STATE POLICE CADET
(LANHAM, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a police vehicle driven by a State Police civilian employee that struck two vehicles on I-495 in Prince George’s County this morning.
The victim is identified as Karen Holt-Williams, 59, of Temple Hills, Md. She was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Maryland State Police vehicle is identified as Cadet Sebastian L. Reyes, 18. Reyes has been employed as a cadet in the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division for eight months. Reyes and the other State Police cadet riding with him both refused treatment.
A third driver is identified as Amy A. Nash, 55, of Largo, Md. She said she was not injured in the crash. Two passengers in her car also reported no injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 8:30 a.m. today, Reyes was driving an unmarked 2006 Ford Expedition on a routine assignment and was not driving with lights or siren activated. Reyes was apparently on the inner loop of I-495 when he used a crossover for emergency vehicles south of Rt. 50 to access the outer loop and head in the opposite direction. The investigation indicates Reyes pulled into the fast lane of the outer loop and accelerated to what witnesses describe as a high rate of speed. He was traveling in lane four of the interstate north of Rt. 50 when he lost control and sideswiped a 2000 Lincoln, driven and solely occupied by Holt-Williams.
The Lincoln then traveled to the left across the interstate and struck the jersey wall on the fast shoulder. The Ford Expedition went into a spin and struck a 2011 Subaru Outback driven by Nash.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded and is conducting a detailed crash investigation. Troopers notified the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office of the fatal crash and a member of that office responded to the scene. When complete, the State Police crash investigation will be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office for review and a determination regarding charges in this crash.
In addition to the crash investigation, a Maryland State Police administrative investigation will also be conducted. This will review the employee’s actions according to Maryland State Police policies and procedures.
Anyone who witnessed this crash is urged to contact Cpl. Zimmerman, the Maryland State Police Crash Team investigator. He can be reached at the State Police La Plata Barrack at 301-392-1231.
Reyes has been placed on leave. Maryland State Police cadets are civilian employees from 18-21 years old who work in the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. Reyes was assigned to the commercial vehicle weigh station at the I-95/I-495 Park and Ride near College Park.

Berlin Wind Turbine Needs A Fix
BERLIN — Until a major part can be replaced Berlin’s first wind turbine is stuck spinning its wheels, or in this case blades, without producing usable power.
The creator of the turbine hopes to have the issue fixed within a few months so that the machine, which is a small prototype, can be used to collect data and showcase its unique technology.
Originally installed in January, the 21-foot tall turbine is located along Old Ocean City Boulevard. The 7kw fixture was designed using a new technology developed by Doug Richards, president of DDU Magnetics. It was built as a prototype of a planned 65-foot high, 50kw turbine and was meant to collect data while the larger machine was being built.
Unfortunately, a critical part of the small turbine, called the invertor, has burnt out.

A Letter To The Editor: "Royalton Hotel Ocean City"
Hi Sbynews.com,
I am an avid reader of your blog, even though I am a Talbot county resident. I find your updates and the election coverage about the local area interesting. I recently booked a small getaway for me and my kids at the royalton hotel in ocean city through popular website expedia. We are trying to save money, and the hotel's appearance on expedia was certainly pleasing for a budget hotel. When we got there, things took a turn for the worse. The hotel must be the worst hotel in Ocean City, if not the eastern shore of Maryland!

CITIZENS REMINDED OF SKATEBOARDING ORDINANCE
Citizens are reminded that skateboarding on public property is prohibited within Ocean City between April 1 and October 1. Citizens can, however, skateboard on the boardwalk between 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. each day during the summer season. The Ocean Bowl Skate Park, located at 3rd Street and St. Louis Avenue, is also available for skateboarders to enjoy daily from 9:30 a.m. until dark for a small fee.
In October 2012, Ocean City Mayor and City Council approved an amendment to the town’s skateboarding ordinance which gave skateboarders the ability to ride on the boardwalk during the same time that bicycles were allowed. This gave skateboarders a place to ride other than the skate park in the summer. During the winter months, October through March, the ordinance is relaxed and skateboarding is permitted throughout the city.
Anyone with questions about the skateboarding ordinance is encouraged to contact the OCPD at 410-723-6610.
Mathematics
I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1960s:
1. Teaching Math In 1950s (when I was in school) A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?
2. Teaching Math In 1970s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?
3. Teaching Math In 1980s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit? Yes or No
4. Teaching Math In 1990s A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20 Your assignment: Underline the number 20.
5. Teaching Math In 2000s A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's Okay).
6. Teaching Math In 2014 Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80. Cuanto dinero ha hecho? ANSWER: His profit was $375,000 because his logging business is just a front for his pot farm.

So WHO Is Telling The Truth? WBOC Responds
Thank you for reaching out. We are diligently working to reach agreement with DIRECTV on terms to ensure continued carriage of both WBOC-TV and FOX21 beyond July 31.
Both WBOC and FOX21 are available free over the air with an antenna. DIRECTV and other satellite and cable companies must negotiate with local broadcasters like us to secure the right to pick up our free signal and turn around and sell it to their customers for a fee.
We are simply seeking a fair deal, which adequately values our number-one-rated and award-winning news, sports, entertainment, and weather programming that is paramount to our local viewers. In fact, for both of our stations, we are asking for less than what DIRECTV pays some of our competitors – even though more people here on Delmarva watch our stations, making WBOC and FOX21 the Number 1 and Number 2 rated channels here.
Further, there’s been a significant change in the business model for network affiliates since our last retransmission agreement with DIRECTV. Recently both CBS and FOX began charging their affiliates “programming fees” in order to broadcast the networks. We now pay both networks hefty sums for the right to be the exclusive affiliate in this market. It’s a reversal from the ‘old days’ when networks paid TV stations to carry their programs. This “reverse compensation” is significant.
Additionally we pay studios hundreds of thousands of dollars to carry the syndicated programs we offer. In all, our programming costs run into the millions of dollars. These are some of the most-watched programs on television here on Delmarva. In order to be able to afford to pay the costs that the networks and studios now demand for their programming, local broadcasters must receive fair retransmission compensation from satellite and cable companies.
We are only asking for a reasonable and fair agreement from DIRECTV. That’s why we’ve asked for help to convince DIRECTV to reach an agreement with us. Calls from their customers to 1-800-531-5000 can help us reach an agreement and avoid any service disruption. For more information please visit wboc.com

Stop Digging!
Stop Digging!
by Delegate Mike McDermott
As Americans, we understand that people can make mistakes. As we grow up, we learn from our mistakes so that we do not stumble a second time. Wise people do not often make the same mistake twice.
There is an old proverb which states, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Governor O’Malley and Senator Mathias are not exceptions to this rule.
Eight years ago when these two men took office together, Maryland enjoyed a billion dollar surplus at the end of Republican Bob Ehrlich’s first term as governor. Our state played host to 11 Fortune 500 companies. We were #25 on the list of “Business Friendly States”, poultry operations were expanding, and the future of agriculture in Maryland looked bright. Our people were happy to live here and most had no thoughts of moving away.
Eight years with O’Malley and Mathias have shown the devastating effects of their big government economic policies and made it clear that they do not learn from their past or their mistakes. Their shared philosophy promoting government as the answer to any problem has turned our surplus into deficits. While every state experienced the recession, Maryland has struggled to regain its footing, and some of our counties are simply not recovering. It is a failure of policy, not our people.

Troops Told To Refrain From Eating, Drinking In Front Of Muslims
Do not eat or drink in front of Muslims, and learn more about their religion.
That’s the directive that has gone out to active duty military personnel at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, a Department of Defense medical and graduate school in Bethesda, Md.
The brigade commander sent an email to military personnel at the facility last month – just before the start of Ramadan – advising them to show respect to Muslim colleagues.
“This is a period of great personal restraint and commitment in addition to renewed focus on worship,” Brigade Commander Col. Kevin Glasz wrote. “I’d like to encourage you to learn just a little more about this religion, but more importantly, I’m asking you to be considerate and do not consume food or drink in front of our Muslim colleagues; it is a simple, yet respectful action.”

Montgomery County School Board Overhauls Spending Policy
WASHINGTON -- Facing intense criticism, the Montgomery County Board of Education voted unanimously Monday to overhaul its spending and reimbursement policy.
Board members have come under fire for the way in which they utilize taxpayer- funded credit cards. Among items they charged were dinners that cost hundreds of dollars and expensive hotel stays.
The board assembled a committee to investigate the issue and worked with an outside attorney as well.
"It was clear that our expense processes and procedures were weak and were not always followed," said Phil Kauffman, president of the board.

JUST IN: Jury Reaches Verdict In Road Rage Murder Trial: Not Guilty On All Charges
A jury in the trial of a New Jersey detective charged with murder in the slaying of a driver during an alleged road-rage incident has reached a verdict: not guilty on all charged.
Derek Valcourt has the latest.
Forty-one-year-old Joseph Walker, an investigator for the Hudson County, New Jersey, prosecutor’s office, has been cleared of first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Joseph Harvey of Landsdowne.
It was June 8, 2013, when Walker, his wife and kids in their minivan were cut off by a car driven by Anne Arundel County native Joe Harvey and one of his friends. A racial slur-filled road rage episode followed for more than a mile. When it was over, Harvey lay dead on the side of the highway, shot three times.

Obama thanks Muslims for 'building the very fabric of our nation'
President Obama and his wife sent out a joint statement to Muslims in America for the Eid-al-Fitr holiday, thanking them for their contributions in “building the fabric” of the country.
The statement, as posted on the White House website, reads in part: “As Muslims throughout the United States and around the world celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, Michelle and I extend our warmest wishes to them and their families. … [The holiday] celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict and disease.”

New Procedures for Student Use of Cell Phones, Other Electronic Devices in Wicomico Schools
The Wicomico County Public School system is taking key steps this summer to become a digital leader in the use of technology for learning in the classroom.
The Wicomico County Board of Education recently updated its Acceptable Use of Technology Policy. The policy now allows for the use of student personal electronic devices such as cell phones and tablets for instruction in secondary classrooms, at the discretion of the teacher. Student cell phones and tablets will not be used in elementary classrooms, but parents may seek permission from the principal for their elementary student to carry a cell phone to and from school as a tool for student safety.
The Board of Education approved the revised policy at its July 2014 meeting, and the new guidelines took effect immediately for the 2014-2015 school year. Board members will evaluate the success of the new policy – including its “Bring Your Own Device” provision for middle and high school students – in spring 2015.
The Board hopes that as instruction is enhanced under the new policy, discipline issues related to cell phone use in schools will be decreased. Secondary administrators and teachers have been spending hundreds of hours on cell phone referrals, most of which will not occur under the new rules. Students are also expected to lose less class time due to referrals for cell phone possession and use.
The policy is posted online:http://www.boarddocs.com/mabe/wcboe/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#. Click on the Policies tab and then Administrative Services to find ADM-TEC-PL-004, Acceptable Use of Technology Policy.
A one-page sheet of “dos and don’ts” for students will be available online and in schools in August. All secondary teachers will receive staff development on the new guidelines for use of student technology in the classroom.
On Monday, Aug. 11, Wicomico Schools will host a presentation by high school principal and author Eric Sheninger on “Digital Leadership: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times.” This award-winning principal of New Milford High School in Bergen County, N.J., will share what it was like to move a school beyond concerns about classroom technology and social media to the discovery of how the tools of technology could enhance learning and engagement for students, families and the community. The presentation is free and open to the public, and will take place at the James M. Bennett Auditorium from 8-9:30 a.m. Aug. 11.
Sandra Fluke Can't Afford $9 Birth Control, Gives Campaign $100,000
Sandra Fluke – the feminist attorney who in 2012 claimed she couldn’t afford the $9 monthly cost of birth control pills and has said taxpayers should pay for it – is loaning her own legislative campaign a hefty sum of $100,000.
Fluke’s $100,000 cash infusion could, in fact, fund 11,111 months’ – or 925 years’ – supply of generic birth-control pills from suppliers such as Walmart or Target.
According to California campaign finance reports, Fluke, who is running for a state Senate seat in California, has contributed $12,000 to her own campaign and $4,826.27 in non-monetary donations in addition to the $100,000 loan.
Fluke’s in-laws have contributed more than $20,000 to her campaign, and her own family has donated $9,600, the Washington Examiner reported.

Only Two Years Until Social Security's Disability Fund Runs Out
The Social Security disability trust fund is only two years away from exhaustion, Social Security's Board of Trustees announced Monday, while saying that Medicare's finances appear to have strengthened, thanks to slowing growth in the cost of health care.
The trustees, tasked by Congress with overseeing the trust funds of the nation's retirement programs, estimated that the combined trust for Social Security's retirement and disability programs would be depleted by 2033, the same year as in last year's projections. After that point, beneficiaries will face a 25 percent cut in benefits, as all payments must be financed by incoming tax revenue.
Social Security has been spending more than it has been taking in since 2010, and that imbalance is expected to worsen.

Peninsula Regional Medical Center Named Among 100 U.S. Hospitals With Great Oncology Programs
We were proud to learn today that Becker’s Hospital Review has named Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury and its Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute among “100 Hospitals and Health Systems With Great Oncology Programs.”
The 100 hospitals were chosen for being on the cutting edge of cancer treatment, prevention and research, and the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected them based on clinical accolades, quality of care and contributions to the field of oncology. Peninsula Regional was one of just four hospitals recognized in Maryland, and the only on the Eastern Shore. The complete list can be found here.
Becker’s says that organizations on this year’s list “are leading the way in terms of quality patient care, cancer outcomes and research.”

A Letter To The Editor: WBOC Mekia Turner comment on Bob McDonnell 7:00 pm news 7/28/14
I couldn't believe what I was hearing when she described the scene as Bob and Maureen McDonnell were walking to the courthouse. He kept his head up, "and smile plastered on it"! How unprofessional and disrespectful. The man hasn't been proven guilty of anything. I immediately called to complain. I spoke with Rachel Ray, a producer. She said Mekia would've written it, but a producer would have to approve it. Rachel did not produce it. I know the liberalism out there, but this was blatant disrespect. I hope you can check into it (maybe just catch it on the 11:00 broadcast). They both need to be reprimanded. Who do they think they are? Does Greg Jahelka know who's working for him, or does he agree with them?
Thanks
Harper Sentenced To 30 Years In Prison
GEORGETOWN — The first of three teens facing trial for kidnapping and carjacking a 89-year old woman in March 2013 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Rondaiges Harper, 19, was convicted June 26 of first-degree carjacking, first-degree kidnapping and two counts of conspiracy for his role in locking Margaret Smith, now 90, in the truck of her car for two days before dumping her in an isolated cemetery.
In handing down the sentence, Delaware Superior Court Judge Richard Stokes said, “Mr. Harper, you have little respect for the law. I find you to be a dangerous person.”
Harper was facing a maximum of 66 years in prison. Prosecutor Melanie Withers asked Stokes for a sentence of about 15 years. But Stokes, taking into account the nature of the crime and Harper’s previous arrests for theft, shoplifting and assault, gave Harper the maximum of 25 years for kidnapping and five years for carjacking. Harper also received two years probation for the conspiracy charges and must complete six years of work release as part of his sentence.

Federal judge rules D.C. ban on handguns in public is unconstitutional
The District’s ban on carrying handguns in public was struck down by a federal judge who called the restrictions “unconstitutional.”
The decision by Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. comes five years after several gun owners joined together to file a lawsuit challenging the District’s gun laws, which only allowed residents to possess a gun in their home or business.
In light of Supreme Court decisions that struck down near total bans on handguns in the District and Chicago in recent years, “there is no longer any basis this Court can conclude that the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the home is constitutional under any level of scrutiny,” Judge Scullin wrote in an opinion dated Thursday and made public Saturday.
The city has the right to appeal the decision, and a spokesman for the Office of the Attorney General said his office is “studying the ruling and considering our options.”

WBOC Back Down From Threats Against Direct TV
A new and revised version of commercials are now out by WBOC no longer asking their viewers to call Direct TV and tell them you will drop Direct TV if they drop WBOC.
Clearly WBOC had gone way overboard by not being TRUTHFUL as our Letter To The Editor explained yesterday from someone within Direct TV.
If it were not for Salisbury News, YOU the Public would have never known the TRUTH about the real situation and that is exactly why we are here. The Main Stream Media constantly LIES/MISSLEADS the public about multiple situations and BLOGGERS are here to call them out.
I think we ALL know who Delmarva's News Leader truly is.

Legal Pot Blamed For Some Of Influx Of Homeless in Denver This Summer
Halfway there, his mother told him he would have to give up the marijuana he uses to control seizures and switch to prescribed medicine. Madewell changed his plans and headed for Colorado, where recreational weed has been sold legally since Jan. 1.
"I'm not going to stop using something organic," he said. "I don't like the pills."
Madewell is among the homeless lured to Colorado by legal marijuana who are showing up at shelters and other facilities, stressing a system that has seen an unusually high number of people needing help this summer.

Why Wait For The Shoe To Hit The Floor? The Case For Selling Now
Waiting to sell is akin to ignoring the smoke and flames in the crowded theater and hesitating until somebody yells "fire!" to rush for the now-jammed exit.
The stock market is supposed to be a discounting mechanism that anticipates and prices in developments six months out. This discounting mechanism has been broken for so long that many participants seem to have forgotten how to do anything but buy the dips, the Pavlovian response to any decline in stocks that has been rewarded with a food pellet for the past five years.
If the shoe has been dropped, why wait until it hits the floor to sell? But incredibly, that is the overwhelming bias, even after the relatively modest decline of the past week.
Even though the Federal Reserve has made it abundantly clear that it is ending its quantitative easing (QE) bond and mortgage buying program (the Fed has already slashed it from $85 billion a month to $25 billion/month), punters are anticipating a decline in October: in other words, they expect market participants to wait until the shoe hits the floor--i.e. the Fed announces the end of QE--before they dump equities.
