Salisbury Mayor Jake Day's Posse Returns From Greensboro Bewildered And Scared, What Did We Get Ourselves Into!
Let's start with the obvious. Greensboro NC. has 300,000 residents. Salisbury has 32,000 residents, most of which are renters.
Where are 150,000 to 300,000 people going to park and reside?
Who's going to provide security. More importantly, who's going to pay for security?
Are our hospitals prepared for a major catastrophe, (God Forbid) a car blows up or an unexpected Tornado comes through. Look, I know that's a reach but look at 9-11 or what happened in Boston.
OK, here's where things get serious, not that the above isn't serious enough. The Festival demands that the City come up with $700,000.00 in PRIVATE donations for the event. City taxpayers will pony up $100,000.00. Jake Day went to the Governor for a $150,000.00 grant for the event and was turned down. The only way the Governor would approve the funding is if the Wicomico County Parks Recreation & Tourism Board approved the $15,000.00 to file for the grant. In all, the City has $250,000.00 but must raise the additional $450,000.00 or the event won't happen.
Ja Rule and the Fyre Festival are facing a $100 million lawsuit after the "luxury" music festival they promised was a complete disaster.
Another major concern after their return from Greensboro is yet another demand in their contract stating the City must come up with 800 volunteers for the event. While I'm sure there are many people excited about an event like this coming to the Shore, let's get real. 800 people is a LOT of people, let alone volunteers. I'm a realist and I'm simply telling you, they'll not only have an extremely difficult time finding that many people, I just believe it will not happen. Sure, people will sign up but when push comes to shove I doubt 50% of them will actually show up.
Salisbury is just not set up for an event like this. As I mentioned before, there's not enough beds. The Waste Water Treatment Plant can't handle the current capacity. It will be next to impossible to get local businesses to pony up $450,000.00 for a weekend event and not see a return on their investment. The biggest hitters might come up with $10,000.00 a piece, (if you're extremely lucky) but it's tough enough to get hundreds of sponsors to pony up $20,000.00 for an entire 4th of July celebration.
FINALLY, did you know this is a THREE YEAR COMMITMENT, 2018, 2019, 2020! Jake, what have you gotten us into.
FINALLY, did you know this is a THREE YEAR COMMITMENT, 2018, 2019, 2020! Jake, what have you gotten us into.
Now that you know more about this event, what's your thoughts?
Salisbury's S.S. Hoppes Money Pit
The Salisbury Fire Boat isn't in Salisbury any longer. It's not even in Wicomico County. It's been laid up in a boatyard in Crisfield since August and will be there for some time to come. It really has problems. Will the SFD reveal how much they have spent on repairs in the last two years?
Jake Day Abusing His Power At Old Station 16
Another recent piece of evidence is the pole building Gilkerson is now putting on the old Fire Station 16. This has to be one of the most historic buildings in Downtown Salisbury. With all of the brick structures in the immediate area, popping up what I'll call a mini chicken house is flat out embarrassing.
It's a smack in the face, especially to the rest of us who have been subjected to the extremely harsh demands of the Historical Society. Those people on that board need to resign immediately and this structure must be removed right away. Just look at that piece of crap. Jake Day, your time is up.
Who Would You Trust?
Jose's Path as of 9/8/2017 |
With Irma all over cable news, it's clear from her path, we have nothing to worry about this time; however, it's been a while since the Eastern Shore has been struck. Hence, we aren't out of the woods just yet!
We all remember Isabel's wrath in 2003 and while we've had others brush us - like Sandy - she was really the last massively damaging hurricane in our area. Many locals have stated, we're long overdue and Jose may be our doom.
Watching Governor Rick Scott and several Florida mayors on the idiot box, it sparked a most urgent question: Who would Salisbury be able to trust in a similar situation?
Can Salisbury Actually Provide Services For Mayor Day's Festival?
Did you know the local Hotels charge $165.00 a night in the Salisbury area when a big event comes to town?
If what Jake Day says is true and tens of thousands of people come here for their festival, there won't be enough lodging, period. Since it will be held on June 5th, 2018, Ocean City hotels and motels will be completely booked.
I find it amazing that even the simplest challenges haven't been well thought out, unless their expected numbers are much smaller then they have proposed.
They are claiming this event will bring in "tens of millions of dollars". They go on to quote, The event, which is presented free of charge, is expected to attract 150,000 people and generate $15 million to $30 million in the local economy, city officials said.
I'm sorry Folks but there's no way they can deliver the proper services. Heck, the Waste Water Treatment Plant can't even handle what Salisbury already has. Add an alleged 150,000 more people in a short period of time and Salisbury is going to have problems.

Outrage as well-known rapper 'lynches' small white child in music video
Rapper XXXTentacion is under fire after releasing a disturbing music video featuring a Caucasian boy being lynched on a stage as an African-American boy looks on.
The video “Look At Me!" debuted on Tuesday and features imagery depicting police brutality, violent protests, and the 19-year-old Florida-based rapper placing a white child’s head in a noose on stage in front of a crowded theater and then hoisting him up into the air.

Mayor Jake Day To Create Law Where The City Can Enter Your Home Any Time They Want
Yes, the headline to this post is 100% accurate!
Oh, you're NOT going to believe this one. You will read later this hour of how the City is divorcing the County in which Jake Day is about to skyrocket your taxes by creating new departments.
One of the new resolutions you'll see tonight at the Council Meeting is his new reorganization plan.
So in a nut shell, if you are using City water and sewer, the City will inspect your RESIDENTIAL property "from time to time" "checking the the amount and nature of the effluent being discharged into the sanitary sewer system".
It goes on to say "Any person who shall refuse to permit and, upon conviction thereof by the Circuit Court for the county, shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00 nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or by imprisonment for not less than 10 days nor more than (30) days".
They go on to say they can disconnect you immediately as well. Didn't this happen at one time in Germany? Oh, that's right, millennials don't know what HISTORY is and they're taking down and removing anything to do with history. Keep in mind, you can be picked at random and you either let them in or you could go to jail on criminal charges. Like we learned and published a few months ago, be assured the people entering your home, (just like they have trained Firefighters) these people will see possible violations and immediately report you to Code & Compliance with demands to bring your property up to code. They can and will use this to enter your property any time they like.
This Mayor needs to be removed along with the entire City Council. Is this was City taxpayers really want?

Salisbury Mayor Jake Day Proposes Riverwalk Amphitheater
I've always found these government bids to be extremely interesting. Jake Day is proposing to build an amphitheater on the Riverwalk. They put it out for bid and three bids were submitted. I should add, I love how they use the word amphitheater to make it sound like something it's not.
1. $47,500.00
2. $65,000.00
3. $400,000.00
Mind you, this is basically a stage, so how crazy is that. Ask yourself this, how far would $47,500.00 go towards a new addition to your home, let alone $400,000.00? Kinda makes you think, doesn't it.
However, it's nowhere near as bad as what the Delmar High School just paid for a dinky outdoor locker room where taxpayers should be outraged at the Board of Education. They paid $800,000.00 for a very tiny building that simply houses lockers. I also heard they also paid the company $100,000.00 just to power wash it.
I have to ask, when is everyone going to finally get fed up with this out of control spending. By the way, you're not supposed to know what kind of money they are spending because all you have to do is ask yourself, did you hear ANY of the information I've provided this past hour from WBOC, WMDT or the Daily Times? Yeah, I'm the Anti Christ because I expose the TRUTH. Go figure.
It is our understanding the shell company who won the bid is backed by Palmer Gillis.

City Reveals Official Logo for National Folk Festival 2018 - 2020
Salisbury – Mayor Jake Day is excited to unveil the logo for the National Folk Festival’s residence in Salisbury, from 2018 – 2020. The logo is the work of Kacey Martin, a Salisbury resident and artist who has long been involved with branding and artwork for 3rd Friday, and many other Downtown and local events. She is a graduate of Bennett High School, and received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Salisbury University.
Martin was tasked with creating a striking, easily-identifiable logo which incorporated the City’s brand. The piece needed to be scalable, and its components able to be shifted and changed to suit different treatments.
With the input of the Mayor’s Office and the National Council for the Traditional Arts, Martin created and delivered several designs. The final logo was chosen on Wednesday, September 14, and unofficially introduced at a National Folk Festival sponsor reception held by the Mayor that evening.
Martin said of her design, "I incorporated aspects of the city logo as well as including some of our rural charm and proximity to the ocean. I hoped to design a logo that would not only be reflective of the area, but also serve as a nostalgic symbol for the many fun memories those who attend the festival will leave with."
“The challenge was to create a visual which would look as good on a poster as it does on a hat, a mug, a tee shirt, or on video,” said the Mayor. “And, most importantly, it had to be worthy of the National Folk Festival’s distinctive history. The logo which Kacey delivered incorporates the Salisbury brand perfectly by marrying the sunrise over the Wicomico with the acoustic guitar – invoking both the folk arts, and the beauty of our city and region. It is a design which Salisbury can proudly say identifies our time as the home of the National Folk Festival.”
Cummings Renews Fight for a Harriet Tubman $20 Bill
WASHINGTON — The fight to put Harriet Tubman on the face of the $20 bill by 2020 has been revived with the introduction of bipartisan legislation in the House co-sponsored by Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Baltimore.
“Too often, our nation does not do enough to honor the contributions of women in American history, especially women of color,” Cummings said. “I am proud to introduce this bill with Rep. (John) Katko (R-N.Y.) to honor Harriet Tubman’s role in making America a more free and more equal society.”
The bill comes almost 17 months after then-Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced that Tubman, a famous Underground Railroad abolitionist who was born as a Maryland slave, would replace Andrew Jackson as the face of the $20 bill.
Lew’s department pledged support to putting women on American currency through changes to the $5 and $10 bills as well.

A Viewer Writes: Caroline O'Hare - The Wendy Williams Show
Publishers Notes: Just to clarify to our viewers, Caroline O'Hare was hired by Jake Day to run the upcoming Festival. He claimed she was a producer of the Wendy William's Show. Can you say, another friend of the Mayor has been hired for a job she's nowhere near qualified for? Others have stated Michael Day should've been hired for the job.
Production companies list crew and cast of their shows on the International Movie Database. It is the go-to in the film/television industry to verify people's credits.
This gal has NO CREDITS or even a listing. The three actresses with the same name are either too old to be her or do not look like her.
Something just stinks about that whole hiring.
A Viewer Writes: Single payer - health care
It is my understanding that single payer health Care is actually Medicare. I hear all the time that Medicare is an entitlement (makes it sound like something like welfare - free assistance.)
I worked forty years right out of high school and paid into medicare for all those years. Now I am retired I still pay Medicare Quarterly as my husband. We earned Medicare - it was not given to us free. Now there is talk of One Payer for all (medicare). Doesn't seem fair. I could have used that money in my youth and now in my retirement. Maybe the US Government should reimburse my family all that money. How do your viewers feel about One Payer for All.

City Names Local Manager for National Folk Festival 2018-2020
Salisbury – Mayor Jake Day is pleased to announce that the City has chosen Caroline O’Hare as Salisbury’s Local Manager for the National Folk Festival. Caroline was selected from a field of over a dozen candidates who applied for the position.
Caroline has proven her production management skills in some of the most challenging and highly-regarded production environments throughout her career—notably as the Creative Director for Live! With Kelly and Michael, where she produced daily promotions, gave direction to on-air talent, and oversaw a team of editors and graphic designers. Prior to working with Live!, Caroline was a Senior Writer and Producer for The Wendy Williams Show, and a Producer for MTV/Viacom.
After moving to Salisbury, Caroline was employed as the Administrative Head of Wicomico Day School. In addition to supervising the daily activities of staff and students, she facilitated the overhaul and updating of the school’s communication platforms, and developed and implemented marketing strategies for the school. As Administrative Head, Caroline was the liaison between parents and faculty, and oversaw the school’s multiple fundraisers and events.
As Salisbury’s Local Manager for the National Folk Festival, Caroline will be the City’s direct line to the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA) to ensure that the Festival is a remarkable success for the entirety of its three-year residency in Salisbury. With myriad essential tasks which require constant oversight, the position demands that the Manager serve in multiple capacities, switching gears frequently, all while maintaining a sharp eye for detail. In addition to representing the festival, writing grants, and communicating with media outlets, Caroline will supervise the marketing of the festival and will work with the City, the NCTA, and the Festival’s Executive Committee to create fundraising materials.
“I am so excited to welcome Caroline as our Local Manager for this festival that will be unlike anything Salisbury has ever experienced,” said Mayor Day. “The National Folk Festival will bring a very large, very diverse offering of music, folk art, food, traditional crafts, and much more to Salisbury over the next three years. Managing such a large event takes a unique skillset, and Caroline’s wealth of knowledge and experience make her an invaluable asset to the City team.“
First held in 1934, the National Folk Festival is the oldest multicultural festival of traditional arts in the nation, and has been produced from its inception by the National Council for the Traditional Arts. It is a traveling festival produced in partnership with communities around the country. The National Folk Festival’s three-year stay in each host city is intended to lay the groundwork for sustainable, locally-produced festivals and events that continue after the National moves on. To date, the National has been presented in 26 cities. Musicians and craftspeople from every state in the Union and most U.S. territories have participated in this “moveable feast of deeply traditional folk arts.” Presented to audiences free of charge over a three-day period, National Folk Festivals since 1987 have had audiences upwards of 175,000. Salisbury, Maryland will be the home of the National Folk Festival from 2018 – 2020.

Remember My Post On Monday About Jake Day's Amphitheater?
Earlier this week I put up an article on the bids for the Amphitheater Salisbury Mayor Jake Day proposed to build. Here's what I had published.
1. $47,500.00
2. $65,000.00
3. $400,000.00
The numbers you see above include a ton of trickery. The winning bidder, ($47,500.00) was a company called veteran builders, (or something like that). What you don't know, (but probably questioned) why such a major difference?

Well let's start with the fact that the winning bidder company is owned by none other then Palmer Gillis, go figure. Then you say, why only $47,500.00, compared to $400,000.00. Well that's where the trickery comes in.
You see, if you come in with the lowest bid and assure you'll do the final project for less then $400,000.00, you some how, some way, get the job!
That's right, it's cheating. The company that stated $400,000.00 is a bid from beginning to end. YOU are NOT supposed to know that this freaking thing is going to cost taxpayers almost a half a million dollars and that won't include change orders and anyone in the business knows damn well that will come about.
So why $47,500.00? Well, another company owned by Palmer Gillis will be the engineers on the project and this expense is just the design and planning portion of the project, before a single piece of wood is ordered. It has nothing to do with the physical amphitheater construction. So Lord knows what this thing is going to ultimately cost taxpayers but they way they have selected a contractor on this job is something I have never seen before.
Once again, we are the Anti Christ for exposing real news in Salisbury. Shame on us!

Gray family disgusted after DOJ decides not to charge officers
BALTIMORE —The family of Freddie Gray is disgusted by the fact that no one is being held accountable for his death while in police custody.
The reaction comes Wednesday, a day after the U.S. Department of Justice released its decision not to pursue federal charges against any of the six police officers involved in the 2015 death of Gray. The DOJ found there is insufficient evidence to support federal criminal civil rights charges.
Attorneys Billy and Hassan Murphy represent Gray's family. They describe the family as devastated and disappointed, and said the decision is a bitter pill to swallow. They met with the DOJ team to ask how they came to this conclusion.
"We have to admit that we left satisfied with the investigation undertaken by this particular group of lawyers at the Department of Justice, most (of which are) holdovers from the Obama administration," Hassan Murphy said.

Frosh Joins Lawsuit Over DACA Decision
Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh on Monday said the state would join a suit over the Trump administration's decision to end a program that gives protection from deportation to young immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children or by parents who overstayed visas.
The California lawsuit's legal arguments largely mirror those already filed in a lawsuit last week by 15 other states and the District of Columbia.
Frosh is also joined by the attorney generals for Maine and Minnesota. The lawsuit alleges the Trump Administration violated the Constitution and other laws when it rescinded the program.

Dudley-Eshbach, University System of MD support DACA
Salisbury University President Janet Dudley Eshbach released a statement September 6 regarding the decision by President Donald Trump to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which allows children of undocumented immigrants to stay in the US legally.
SU’s president “strongly supported” the Association’s statements, and urged continued support for the beneficiaries of the program, and that it was in line with Salisbury’s core mission as a university.
Dudley-Eshbach’s message to the SU campus community included a statement from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, of which SU is a member.
The Association stated it was “profoundly disappointed with, and strongly oppose, the administration’s decision.”
The statement also said that ending DACA is “as unnecessary as it is cruel.”
There was another show of support for undocumented immigrants on September 7, when chalk messages displaying pro-immigrant and diversity messages appeared around Conway Hall.
In addition to supporting “Dreamers” under DACA, SU provides assistance to undocumented students.
According to the admissions web site, “Salisbury University welcomes applications from undocumented students as part of its multicultural and inclusive academic environment.”
The admissions office also provides links and information for a number of scholarships available to students who have received delayed action status.
SU has shown a history of support for undocumented students.

U.S. Federal Court Rules That Females Are Free To Display Breasts In Public, Was the Judge Right?
This right here is why I hate liberal judges and feminists. This is nuts. A federal judge in Colorado has struck down a ban on women exposing their boobs in public because it’s probably unconstitutional. WTH? Gee, I didn’t realize you had a right via the Constitution to public indecency. It must be in the good and plenty clause somewhere. I hate to break it to this judge, but nudity is not free speech. This judge obviously graduated at the bottom of his class and is all fuzzy on constitutional law.
“I find that the ordinance discriminates against women based on the generalized notion that, regardless of a woman’s intent, the exposure of her breasts in public (or even in her private home if view-able by the public) is necessarily a sexualized act,” Jackson wrote. “Thus, it perpetuates a stereotype ingrained in our society that female breasts are primarily objects of sexual desire whereas male breasts are not.”
The judge also ruled against the city’s claims that the law maintained public order and protected children. This is the same kind of judge that allows men to go into women’s restrooms. Now, women can freely expose themselves, which I’m sure will not cause an uproar at all. In Nov. of 2015, Fort Collins enacted an ordinance that prohibited females 10 or older from exposing their breasts in public or on private property if that place can be viewed by someone on public property. That ordinance excluded women who were breastfeeding. If you violated the order, you could be fined up to $2,650 or be imprisoned for up to 180 days.

Hillary Clinton Slams Women Who Did Not Vote for Her, Says She Cannot Give ‘Absolution’
Hillary Clinton, in her campaign post-mortem released Tuesday, tore into women who didn’t vote for her failed presidential candidacy in November and regretted it, saying “these people were looking for absolution that I just couldn’t give.”
Clinton’s book, What Happened, is an angry account of how she lost to President Trump in November. Among the multitude of people/countries/events she blames for her defeat are young women who didn’t vote for her.
In the book, she talks about the Women’s March in D.C. and other cities across America as “bittersweet” as it contrasted the enthusiasm of activists with the lack of enthusiasm with which her campaign was greeted.
While she called the event “awe-inspiring on Twitter, she says she “couldn’t help but ask where those feelings of solidarity, outrage, and passion had been during the election.”
