ACLU files complaint against Pocomoke City for firing black police chief behind closed doors
The American Civil Liberties Union filed a complaint with a Maryland regulatory board this week against Pocomoke City officials, claiming that the Eastern Shore town violated state law when it met secretly to fire the city’s first black police chief.
It was the second time the ACLU has filed a complaint about Pocomoke with the Maryland Open Meetings Compliance Board. Last month, the ACLU alleged that the Pocomoke City Council illegally banned the news media from its July 13 meeting, during which hundreds of people demanded that the popular former police chief be reinstated.
“Between barring media from public meetings and holding secret discussions, Pocomoke City officials have a lot to answer for,” said Deborah Jeon, legal director for the ACLU of Maryland.

WARNING: Some knew about the red light on cars, but not Dialing 112
An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Lauren's parents have always told her to never pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.
Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called, 112 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.
Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
I never knew about the 112 Cell Phone feature. I tried it on my AT&T phone & it said, "Dialing Emergency Number."
Especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going on to a safe place.
*Speaking to a service representative at Bell Mobility confirmed that 112 was a direct link to State trooper info. So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about "Dialing, 112"
You may want to send this to every Man, Woman & Youngster you know; it may well save a life.

Whoa! What Donald Trump Plans for TONIGHT Could Be an HISTORIC Record Breaker!
The media can’t stop talking about the crowds Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is attracting. There are reports that his crowds in California and Portland, Oregon were both larger than 27,000. They breathlessly report on this, while forgetting to mention Sanders is a self-described socialist.
But what Donald Trump and his campaign has planned for TONIGHT in Mobile, Alabama could blow those numbers out of the water. Initially planning for a rally of 2,000 people at a small venue, tickets were grabbed so quickly that major changes had to be made.
Now, the event will be held in the Ladd-Peeles Stadium, a football stadium where the yearly Senior Bowl is played. More than 30,000 people have been confirmed to attend, and the stadium capacity is over 40,000. The free tickets are still being claimed at a fast pace, and show no signs of slowing down!
To put that in perspective, that’s bigger than the largest crowd of President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, when Oprah Winfrey joined him in South Carolina! That means this Trump event will smash through crowd records effortlessly!

ACLU FILES 2ND OPEN MEETING COMPLAINT AGAINST POCOMOKE
POCOMOKE CITY, MD - The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Maryland has filed a second complaint in a month against Pocomoke City officials for violations of the Maryland Open Meetings Act (MOMA). The latest complaint concerns unannounced, closed meetings held by Town Officials in late June, during which the decision was made to fire Pocomoke's first African American Police Chief, Kelvin Sewell. The complaint was filed with the Maryland Open Meetings Compliance Board on behalf of Stephen Janis, a reporter for The Real News Network, a Baltimore-based non-profit news organization.
"How can Pocomoke residents not be concerned to learn that Town officials called secret meetings and pressured the Town's only African American elected official to fire the community's well-liked Police Chief? said Deborah Jeon, Legal Director for the ACLU of Maryland. "It violates state law when governments make important decisions behind closed doors without notice or explanation to the public and the press. Between barring media from public meetings and holding secret discussions, Pocomoke officials have a lot to answer for."
As with the ACLU's first complaint, which pertained to the media being barred from a Pocomoke Council meeting on July 13, this complaint again relates to Pocomoke City's controversial firing of Sewell. At the time of the firing, no explanation was given for the town's action, and many in the community - both black and white - were angry and upset. Despite extensive media attention and community demands for information in the weeks following Chief Sewell's firing, Pocomoke officials have remained silent about the process and basis upon which they arrived at their decision to terminate the chief.

Trump Calls O'Malley A 'Disgusting Little Weak, Pathetic Baby'
Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley apologized “like a disgusting, little, weak, pathetic baby” for his remark that “all lives matter,” Donald Trump said in an excerpt of a new interview aired Friday on Fox News.
In an interview with Jeanine Pirro for her program “Justice” set to air Saturday night, Trump said that the former Maryland governor did not need to say he was sorry.
“And then he apologized like a little baby, like a disgusting, little, weak, pathetic baby. And that’s the problem with our country,” Trump said, according to a clip aired on “Fox and Friends.”
O’Malley, in fact was “politically incorrect” with his apology, Trump remarked.
“How can you apologize when you say black lives matter — which is true — white lives matter, which is true — all lives [matter] — which is true. And then they get angry because you said white and all…we don’t want you to mention that. What’s he need to apologize for?” Trump asked.
O’Malley’s apology came last month after he responded to protesters shouting “black lives matter” during his speech at Netroots Nation by saying that, “Black lives matter. White lives matter. All lives matter.” Critics on the left said the remarks showed a lack of understanding of what the Black Lives Matter movement is all about.

GEORGETOWN, Del. — A former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Molly Shattuck will spend 48 weekends in jail for the rape of a 15-year-old boy at a vacation rental home in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

She will spend every other weekend in a probation center and will have to register as a sex offender in Delaware, The Baltimore Sun reports. She will be on the sex offender registry for 25 years.
Shattuck entered the plea on charges of fourth-degree rape just days before her scheduled trial on two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact and three counts of providing alcohol to minors. Other charges were dropped as part of the deal.
She collapsed to her knees after she was sentenced Friday morning and wept as she apologized, The Associated Press reports.

Sheriff's investigators plan to recommend prosecutors file a vehicular manslaughter charge against Caitlyn Jenner for a fatal car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu last February.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida says investigators found the reality star was driving "unsafe for the prevailing road conditions" when Jenner's SUV rear-ended a Lexus, pushing it into oncoming traffic.
The Lexus driver, 69-year-old Kim Howe, was killed when her car was struck head-on by a Hummer.

Mosby, Davis Announce Attempted First Degree Murder Charges Against Officer
For the second time since taking office in January, Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has brought charges against a member of the Baltimore City Police Department.
Mosby was joined by Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis at a news conference to announce the charges.
Mosby filed attempted first degree and attempted second degree murder charges against Officer Wesley Cagle for shooting and critically wounding a burglary suspect on December 28.
The incident took place in the 3000 block East Monument Street, when Cagle and three other officers responded to a burglary inside a grocery store.
Mosby said the suspect, 46-year-old Michael Johansen, emerged from the building "holding something shiny" and was shot by two other officers.
Mosby says that shooting was justified.

Regal movie theaters begin bag-search policy
HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — The next time you plan to see the newest blockbuster on the big screen, you might want to leave a little early. If the movie theater is owned by Regal Entertainment Group, you’ll probably be subject to a bag check.
“All they did was open and look. They didn’t actually go through it,” said movie-goer Jay Weinisch. He and his wife Dawn first noticed the new policy earlier this month.
“Two weeks ago we were here. I was surprised, but, it was perfectly fine with me.” said Dawn Weinisch outside the Regal Columbus Stadium 12 at Town Center in Virginia Beach. “I thought they were looking for the water bottle and they were going to take it away!”

Hogan said the progress that he has made over the last two months since doctors discovered 60 tumors the size of oranges, apples and golfballs throughout his body, including on his neck, chest abdomen and groin has surprised his team of doctors.

Obama appoints first transgender White House staff member
(CNN)President Barack Obama has appointed the first openly transgender White House staff member, according to an announcement Tuesday.
Raffi Freedman-Gurspan, a former policy adviser at the National Center for Transgender Equality, will serve as an outreach and recruitment director in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel.
Community leaders and advocates lauded the administration's decision and called Freedman-Gurspan a role model, praising her work to empower members of the LGBT community.
"President Obama has long said he wants his administration to look like the American people. I have understood this to include transgender Americans," NCTE Executive Director Mara Keisling said. "That the first transgender appointee is a transgender woman of color is itself significant. And that the first White House transgender appointee is of a friend is inspiring to me and to countless others who have been touched by Raffi's advocacy."

Baltimore to buy trash cans for all households for rat control
All households in Baltimore will be given a huge, durable trash can on wheels under a $10 million plan Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced Monday to better control the city's rat population and help prevent sanitation worker injuries.
The city expects to deliver the trash cans — which will be emblazoned with the city seal — by early next year. The 64-gallon receptacles will come with two wheels, a tight-fitting lid and a tracking device.
Rawlings-Blake said she wants to build on the success of a pilot program launched a year ago that provided more than 9,000 trash cans to residents in Belair-Edison and the Mondawmin area. Calls for rat extermination dropped by nearly 75 percent, she said. And she said fewer workers were injured lifting trash cans, though she did not provide figures.

ROSIE O’DONNELL WANTS TO WIPE PERIOD BLOOD ON PEOPLE’S FACES TO FIGHT TRUMP’S ‘WAR ON WOMEN’
According to Entertainment Tonight, O’Donnell called in to SiriusXM radio’s Just Jennythis week to defend Fox News host Megyn Kelly, who had a very public feud with Trump following the August 6 debate, and free-bleeding jogger Kiran Gandhi, who ran the London Marathon in April while on her period with no tampon.
The ladies on the show, including host Jenny Hutt, took issue with Gandhi’s public display of free bleeding, but not Rosie, who speculated the act was done as a protest of Donald Trump’s allegedly misogynistic ways.
“Why do you think she did that? …When Fox anchors are being accused of being hormonal and ashamed because they have their period,” said Rosie, seemingly unaware Gandhi’s run took place nearly four months prior to the debate.
She added: “Then that woman does that. Why do you think she [Gandhi] does that stuff? You don’t think she did that to say, F— you a–hole?!”

Tomorrow will be the fourth straight week with a request to NOT throw it in my yard, on the street, at the house that hasn't been lived in for over a year (second picture), in the driveway, and clogging the city drains, wet and nasty. Was told it is not to be delivered to those who subscribe. Apparently didn't tell that to the delivery person. One would think that if past weeks are still there, maybe it is a waste of their money to throw another. Save your money and make one less. I don't want it!
