Imposing Solar Tariffs May Cost Taxpayers $1.23 Billion

Imposing tariffs on solar components imported into the U.S. will drive up prices for solar developers. It could also cost U.S. taxpayers as much as $1.23 billion.

The U.S. offers incentives to encourage people to use clean energy, paying owners of solar-power systems a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the total installation costs.

More expensive panels leads to higher costs, and that means taxpayers could be on the hook for about $1.23 billion more, according to an estimate from Cowen & Co. analyst Jeffrey Osborne.

Trump: NFL Comments Had Nothing to Do with Race

President Donald Trump on Sunday said his comments criticizing NFL players who kneel during the national anthem, had nothing do with race, the Washington Times reported.

“I’ve never said anything about race,” Trump said when asked whether he was “inflaming racial tensions” by a reporter. “This has to do with respect for our country, and respect for our flag.”

The president also said there was “tremendous solidarity for our flag and for our country,” in the little bit of the NFL games he watched.

“I was not watching the games today, believe me — I’m doing other things. But I watched a little bit.”

Pro-Trump Political Group Launches Ad to 'Turn Off The NFL'

America First Policies, a political action group that backs President Donald Trump, has produced a digital advertisement calling on the public to "Turn off the NFL," in an attempt to support the president's attack on the sports league, BuzzFeed News reported on Sunday.

"Turn off the NFL," reads a digital ad produced by the nonprofit America First Policies. The ad shows a photo with Trump, hand over his heart, and a #TakeAStandNotAKnee hashtag. The ad appeared in the wake of Trump's call to fire professional football players who have protested police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.

N. Korea says Trump’s “Rocket Man” Insult Means Missile Attacks On US Mainland ‘Inevitable’

Apparently the only person more thin-skinned than the Hollywood elites and snowflake liberals is North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

President Trump calling him “Rocket Man” on the floor of the UN was the last straw for the diminutive dictator, who is threatening mainland United States with a missile attack. Assuming, of course, he can keep it from breaking up over the water and also assuming that we don’t shoot it down before it can get to us.

Alyssa Milano BEGS Her Fans To Watch The NFL On #TakeTheKnee

Well well well, would you take a look at this? Alyssa Milano thinks we’re all idiots. Problem is, we all know she seriously believes this tripe. She is embracing every stupid leftist ideology bandwagon that she sees coming her way…especially if it has anything to do with hating on Trump. I mean the girl hates on Trump constantly! Then turns around and defends Hillary every opportunity she gets whether people are listening to her or not…which lets face it, she became a has-been a very long time ago and her ‘public’ voice does not have that much reach anymore.

Then she turns around and says she ‘has no politics’?

Excuse me? Apparently, self-awareness is not a strong trait in liberals. She’s NUTS!

So now the story is she tweeted out some garbage about kneeling during the national anthem and promoting the whole idea of it, then turns around and says that we all need to actually WATCH NFL games and fill the stadiums because if we don’t Trump wins.

Facebook / Amazon so big, they are creating their own towns

Mega-corporations — from Facebook to Amazon — are creating modern-day company towns.

In Menlo Park, California, Facebook plans to build a new campus with 1,500 residences, a walkable retail district, a grocery store, and a hotel for its employees. Meanwhile, Amazon recently announced that it will build a second headquarters that could effectively turn the chosen city into a company town — much like what happened to Seattle when the online retail giant came to Seattle in the late 1990s. Dubbed HQ2, approximately 50,000 employees will work there.

Since the 19th century, companies have built company towns across the United States — municipalities where they own large percentages of the housing, stores, schools, churches, roads, and parks. In these towns, the corporation is also often the largest employer.

At their peak a century ago, there were more than 2,500 company towns housing 3% of the US population, according to The Economist.

As CityLab notes, many early company towns served as a way for corporations to manage labor relations, since they owned all the homes and could evict strike leaders. More modern company towns, like Hershey, Pennsylvania (named after famed chocolatier Milton Hershey's candy corporation), gave residents say in what the town prioritized.

State Overwhelmingly Votes to Demand Congress Remove Cannabis as Schedule 1 Drug

Despite countless studies proving the power of cannabis to treat a number of diseases, the federal government still claims it has no medicinal value.

Despite the fact that over half of the states in the country have legalized cannabis in some form, the federal government still insists that the plant—which has been found to treat a variety of diseases—is one of the most dangerous substances available, with no medicinal value.

Lawmakers in the state of California are now calling out the hypocrisy and calling for the government to reclassify cannabis. A joint resolution that received overwhelming support from the California Assembly, with a vote of 60-10, called for reclassification in order to allow for research that is currently banned with cannabis labeled as a Schedule I substance.

ISIS has planted a ticking bomb that is hard to defuse: traumatized children

AMMAN, JORDAN—In camps for internally displaced persons and in the war-torn towns and villages of western Iraq, there is one legacy of the so-called Islamic State’s brutal reign whose magnitude experts and authorities are only beginning to understand: traumatized children.

From the stateless children of ISIS members, to child soldiers and the tens of thousands indoctrinated in ISIS schools, a generation of young Iraqis has been traumatized and radicalized by the nihilistic jihadist group. They are at war with themselves and their own community.

In the words of one trauma specialist, many of these children have, as a result, lost their “trust in humans and humanity.”

Unless authorities and the international community work to help reintegrate these children into society, including by providing counseling and psychiatric care, experts warn that Iraq and Syria will face a generational “time-bomb” of extremism, deliberately planted by ISIS, that could one day again threaten regional stability.

Experts warn, too, of a lack of trained mental health professionals to deal directly with the children’s emotional wounds, but they hold out hope for one solution that may be more within reach: If enough teachers can be found, getting the kids back in a school environment could create the stability needed for some healing.

‘Catastrophic’ lack of sleep in modern society is killing us, warns leading sleep scientist

‘I take my sleep incredibly seriously because I have seen the evidence,’ says Professor Matthew Walker

A “catastrophic sleep-loss epidemic” is causing a host of potentially fatal diseases, a leading expert has said.

In an interview with the Guardian, Professor Matthew Walker, director of the Centre for Human Sleep Science at the University of California, Berkeley, said that sleep deprivation affected “every aspect of our biology” and was widespread in modern society.

And yet the problem was not being taken seriously by politicians and employers, with a desire to get a decent night’s sleep often stigmatised as a sign of laziness, he said.

Trump May Be A Narcissist, But The Clintons Are Sociopaths

Hillary Clinton is very much like my hemorrhoids: neither will just go away. They both keep coming back and both are exceedingly irritating. She has recently gone on her Latest Excuses Tour, and all the reasons that she keeps giving for having lost the election has reached 39 at last count. She has blamed everything and everyone—except herself, or her serial rapist husband. This is very typical of a sociopath.

Even the people at CNN and Yahoo think she looks ridiculous in continually coming up with new excuses. Now that is saying something.

I spent many years in the field as a forensic psychologist and along the way I learned many things. One was that a consistent finding in convicts is that they have a low IQ and, in fact, that is why they have been caught. The sociopaths that populate prisons are there because they were stupid; they committed stupid crimes and did not/do not learn from their mistakes.

Ocean City Detectives Charge Individuals with Three Vehicle Thefts

OCEAN CITY, MD – (September 25, 2017): Between the dates of August 16 and 18, 2017, officers received reports of three stolen automobiles. In each case, there were no signs of forced entry and it is believed that the owners left the keys inside the vehicles. Each of the three vehicles were located in a remote location on Mosley Road near Bowers Beach, Delaware.

With assistance from the Delaware State Police, detectives of the Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division developed suspect information and were able to confirm through their investigation that the suspects were in Ocean City during the time of the thefts. The suspects were identified as Tammy S. Gould, 40, of Dover, DE, Curtis L. Brown, 27, of Felton, DE, and two juvenile 15-year-old males. Detectives charged Gould and Brown with multiple theft and theft scheme charges on September 11 and warrants were issued for their arrests. They both turned themselves in to police at the Ocean City Public Safety Building on September 19.

Gould has been charged with theft scheme $10,000 to under $100,000, two counts of theft $10,000 to under $100,000, theft $1,000 to under $10,000, three counts of motor vehicle theft, and two counts of encouraging a child to commit a crime. Brown has been charged with theft scheme $10,000 to under $100,000, two counts of theft $10,000 to under $100,000, theft $1,000 to under $10,000, and three counts of motor vehicle theft. Detectives referred the two juvenile males to the Department of Juvenile Services for review. Gould and Brown were seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and both were issued a $10,000 bond. Gould was released after posting bond. Brown was transferred to the Worcester County Jail.

Fight for $15? Russia’s new minimum wage is less than $15 per da

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said of America’s current hourly wage floor, “$7.25 minimum wage is a starvation minimum wage.” Dozens of other Democrat leaders say $7.25 isn’t “a living wage,” and 22 Senators support Sanders’ bill to raise America’s minimum wage to $15.

If they think $7.25 per hour is bad, what about $7.25 per day? That’s about what the newly increased minimum wage is in the world’s largest democratic socialist nation.

This week, the Russian government approved an increase in their monthly minimum wage to 9,489 rubles starting in 2018. 9,489 rubles converts to $163.34 in American dollars. Yes, $163.34 per month. Divide that by 30 days in a month, and that’s $5.45 per day. If you want to go by workdays in a month, there are an average of 21.8 workdays per month, so the Russian minimum wage would equate to $7.49 per workday. Divide that by eight working hours per day, and it equates to $.94 per hour worked.

While Democrats in the U.S. are fighting for a $15 per hour minimum wage, the Russia’s new minimum will be half that per day.

Sport Team Names - Serious Issue - Action Needed

I think all sports fans will get a kick out of this letter written to the Chicago Tribune....

No matter which side you are on in the matter of renaming the Washington Redskins, this is funny. This guy is hilarious...

Here is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.

Dear Mr. Page: I agree with our Native American population. I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward

Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60s alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives.

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.

The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee Brewers. Well, that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.

As a diehard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers."

Have a nice day......

Rocket Carrying Top Secret Cargo Launched From Vandenberg

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!

It’s actually a rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base Saturday evening.

The Atlas Five launched just before 11 p.m.

“We’re gonna see dark, we’re gonna see light, all different types of colors because we have different rockets that is going to lift that high payload weight into space,” said rocket scientist Olympia LePoint.

Though the mission is called NROL-42 and highly classified, LePoint says we can still tell a lot about it because they’re using the Atlas Five.

That rocket is one of the strongest — it’s capable of carrying 18,000 pounds and because the mission is for the nation's spy satellite agency — the National Reconnaissance Office.

“It is a spy satellite that’s being delivered into our upper atmosphere” said LePoint. “It’s our eyes and ears towards space.”

It’s rumored the ship’s cargo is a highly-specialized orbital camera that can give us larger-than-ever views of the Northern hemisphere.

Open Letter To Liberals Who Don’t Understand Why America Is Ticked At The NFL

I grew up in a household that lived for football season. As a kid, I hated it. I didn’t understand the hype. As I grew older, it hit me. I grew into it. It may sound silly, but no matter how stressful life got– and it got pretty stressful, growing up with a sibling with numerous medical problems– NFL weekends became my escape. It was ourescape. It was one of the stress-free things we could all do as a family. It took our minds off the mundane stressors of life. My mom and I would plan our NFL snacks days in advance. We’d giggle as we searched through Taste Of Home magazines for new recipes, and we would anxiously count down the days until kickoff. We’d buy matching jerseys and represent our team days before kickoff. It was the one day we looked forward to. When Sunday came– no matter how bad the week had been– we’d all sit around the couch, turn off our brains, chow down on some dips and enjoy the sport as a family.

It was an escape.

I’ve carried that over to my adult life. Football has been my escape. No politics. No cultural rot. No worries about money, bills or the future. The only thing I have to worry about is a bad call.
I can’t say that anymore. It all changed Sunday. That’s when it hit me. Football is no longer an escape.

The kneeling protests have been a thing for quite some time, but on Sunday, I turned on the Jaguars/Ravens game just in time to see members on both teams kneel for the national anthem. I really didn’t think they’d do that in London. They’re representing America over there, and those fools dared to kneel?

That was it. That’s when it really hit me. This wasn’t something I could ignore or dismiss as a few rogue players. Political sewage found its way into my favorite American pastime. The cultural rot is spreading. I can no longer watch a simple NFL game without watching some virtue-signaling loser attempt to draw attention to himself.

Soros-backed Organization Attacking Moore in Alabama Race

As the battle in Alabama to fill the Senate seat vacated by now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions comes to a head with Tuesday’s special election, a group that gets funding from left-wing George Soros’s son Jonathan Soros is attacking Roy Moore — the conservative candidate battling establishment candidate and appointed Sen. The Jennifer and Jonathan Allan Soros Foundation are listed among individuals and groups funding the Campaign Legal Center.

“Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore may be in hot water with the IRS just days before the GOP runoff election for U.S. Senate,” Alabama public radio reported on Thursday. “Moore is in a dead heat with sitting U.S. Senator Luther Strange.”

“Now, the Washington-based Campaign Legal Center is filing a formal complaint with the IRS claiming Roy Moore’s Foundation for Moral Law has violated the law regarding charities and political action,” APR reported.

Campaign Legal Center’s Brendan Fischer claims the foundation is using its Facebook page and newsletter to promote Moore’s campaign.

Principal accused of grade-fixing has new six-figure job

A Brooklyn principal accused of bringing grade-fixing to new heights has resigned, but was given another six-figure job, city officials said.

Marc Williams, after less than two years as principal of the Secondary School for Journalism in Park Slope, quit amid an investigation of course-credit schemes exposed by The Post in July.

A teacher said Williams turned a blind eye when a student got a passing grade in a course by taking online tests — with help from a classmate.

Williams has been made a “case manager” in the Department of Education’s human resources department, officials said. His new $127,443 salary is less than the $156,131 he made last school year, but “it was not a demotion,” said DOE spokesman Michael Aciman.

As DOE investigators grilled teachers about the credit schemes, the 236-student school was thrown into more turmoil this month.

The Danger Of Patriotism

My friends, it is frightening how simple we are and how easily we are manipulated simply because we are intellectually lazy.

The U.S. establishment has confused cause and effect by and through a flag-waving mania in America. "Patriotism" throughout history has covered a multitude of mischief. We are seeing it now!

Phony patriotism is strong leverage against a population ignorant of the ways of treason by its own government. I also have no doubt that U.S. history is full of wars "for democracy" killing millions under the propaganda of patriotism with the majority support of the people and the full support of all but a small cadre of "elected representatives" — who are paid by the federal government, incidentally. In addition the millions of foreign dead, these wars have left hundreds of thousands of American military members dead or maimed physically and/or emotionally.

The whole world knows about the U.S. military industrial complex war machine and its pursuit of profits. But Americans tend to turn a blind eye.

When George Washington said "government is force," he meant that government is force against its own people.

Donte Sylvian Sumpter, 33, of Princess Anne is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony. Sumpter is accused of fatally shooting Arthur Terrell Alford, 31, of Salisbury. Sumpter was taken to the Somerset County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, Maryland state troopers from the Princess Anne Barrack responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 11000 block of Freetown Road in Princess Anne. The victim was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation.

State Police crime scene technicians processed the scene for evidence throughout the afternoon and evening on Sunday. Officers from the Princess Anne Police Department and deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance.

SCIENCE & TECH Taking Drugged Driving Seriously: What Does the Science Say?

I’ve been reporting on cannabis full-time for more than 15 years, so I like to think I’ve heard it all—pro and con—when it comes to the legalization debate. In all that time spent weighing facts and debunking disinformation, only one con argument has ever given me serious pause: What if a large number of newbie pot smokers suddenly get behind the wheel and all start riding dirty at once?

There are many other supposed cannabis dangers that would warrant being taken seriously, if a small bit of independent investigation didn’t reveal them to be overblown or baseless.

For instance, science shows definitively that cannabis is not a gateway to harder drugs, is not addictive relative to other drugs (including caffeine), does not cause cancer or harm the lungs, and does not lead to an increase in violent crime.

Obama, Holder Group Push $500,000 Into Virginia Governor Race

A group focused on redistricting linked to former President Barack Obama gave $500,000 to the Democratic Party of Virginia to support the gubernatorial campaign of Democratic candidate Ralph Northam, records show.

The National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), a Washington, D.C.-based organization founded in 2016 that is chaired by former Attorney General Eric Holder, is dedicated to "enacting a comprehensive, multi-cycle Democratic Party redistricting strategy over the next 5 years and beyond." The group seeks to impact the 2021 redistricting process by utilizing electoral, legal, and ballot initiative components.

"Republican gerrymandered districts after the 2010 Census have put Democrats at a massive structural disadvantage," the NDRC website states. "That’s why the most important turning point for the future of the Democratic Party will take place in 2021: when states redraw their Congressional and state legislative lines."

Why "Populism" Is Here To Stay

Aristotle was the first to point out how a thriving middle class is a condition sine qua non for a functioning democracy: “A constitution based on the middle class is the mean between the extremes of the rule by the rich and the rule by the poor.”

When we speak of the middle class we therefore mean the median group of society, the one representing the largest group of people by income.

To clarify with a simple example, in a population of 2000 people, if 500 earn 1000€ a month, 1400 people earn 2000€ a month and 100 earn 10000€ a month, then the 1400 people are the ”middle class”.

A prosperous, educated middle class is the best bulwark against extremes. Ganesh Sitaraman of Vanderbilt University argues:

“From the time of the ancients, statesmen and philosophers were deeply worried about the problem of economic inequality. They worried that either the rich would oppress the poor or the poor would seek to confiscate the wealth of the rich, and the result would be violence, instability, even revolution.”

Sitaraman worked for US Senator (Dem) Elizabeth Warren from 2011 to 2013. If Democrats had bothered listening to him and looking at what is actually happening, maybe Hillary Clinton wouldn’t have needed to write her own book “What Happened”, trying to explain her electoral debacle.
The Western class is necessary for political centrism

Farewell to the National Football League

For my health, sanity and productivity, I quit watching the NFL regularly on television about the time Clint Longley single-handedly beat the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day, 1974. I tuned in periodically in the early '80s, but gave it up entirely by the end of the decade -- in part because I was then living abroad. When I returned to the States nearly a decade later, I found I no longer cared, and eventually even gave up on the Super Bowl.

There was never the slightest chance I would go back, but even if I wanted to, I couldn't, as I cut the cable long ago and learned I can live quite happily and more cheaply without it -- no sports, no CNN, no Fox News. But even if I hook up the old satellite dish again here in my rural New England community, I still wouldn't watch pro football now that the NFL and some of its players have injected racial politics into a sport that, more than any other, pioneered on-field integration and got white America cheering for black athletes.

Michelle Malkin Has A Message For The ‘Tax-Subsidized NFL Militants’

Liberals are suddenly alllllllllll about free speech. (Have I mentioned that they’re trying to cancel free speech week at Berkeley?)

Ignorant NFL players are kneeling to protest 1.) Supposed inequality 2.) Police brutality and 3.) President Trump’s words.

I don’t disagree with Trump’s description. If you’re disrespecting our men and women who serve this country, you’re an ungrateful SOB. Their sacrifices allow players to chase their dreams and make millions doing what they love. Stand up and show some respect.

ANYWAY. Michelle Malkin has a message for the “tax-subsidized NFL militants.”

In A Bad Mood? You Might Have Picked It Up

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Like a cold, good and bad moods can be ‘picked up’ from those around you

Your friends have the most impact, according to a new study led by the University of Warwick.

“Evidence suggests mood may spread from person to person via a process known as social contagion,” said Public health statistics researcher Rob Eyre who led the study.

The team’s findings show that’s not the only thing that spreads among friends – so do symptoms of depression like helplessness and loss of interest.

While those are contagious, they are not strong enough to push other friends into depression, researchers said.

It’s also about how many people you surround yourself with.

They found that having more friends who suffer from bad moods makes it more likely for you to be in a bad mood with a lesser chance of improving your mood.

There is flip side to that.
