What You’re About to See on Video Between an Officer and His K-9 Partner Led to the Cop Being Placed on Leave

A K-9 police officer in Indiana was filmed allegedly lifting his dog by its collar and then hitting it with its leash, resulting in him being placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an investigation.

A video of the unidentified Hammond, Indiana, officer was uploaded to YouTube Wednesday. While one officer tended to a suspect who had his hands on the hood of a police cruiser, the other officer was filmed “whipping” the German shepherd.

United Methodist Church to grant benefits to employees in same-sex marriages

The United Methodist Church has announced the approval of insurance benefits to some of its employees in same-sex marriages, a decision that could further divide the splintering denomination over the issue of gay rights.

The church’s definition of “spouse” now includes “same sex-spouses” with regards to the General Agencies Welfare Benefits Program for employees. The change was first approved in October by a financial board, but officially recognized by the church’s highest court last week and first reported by the Religion News Service.

“Certain basic human rights and civil liberties are due all persons,” the church’s Judicial Council said in its decision. “We are committed to supporting those rights and liberties for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation.”

Selective Service Sends Thousands Letter In Error

WASHINGTON - Notices have gone out to thousands of men in Maryland telling them they need to register with the Selective Service System, even though they did so already.

In a statement, the Selective Service System says the letters were the result of an "automated data processing error." The agency says the letters in question will have the recipient's first and last names transposed, and can be disregarded by anyone who is already registered.

The letters are dated April 23, 2014.

A Selective Service spokesman tells WTOP the notices likely went to thousands of men in Maryland who are between the ages of 18 and 25.

White House on defense over new Benghazi emails, claims controversial ‘prep call’ not about attack

The White House found itself on defense Wednesday following the release of emails tying a top aide to former U.N. ambassador Susan Rice's controversial Sunday show statements after the Benghazi terror attack.

During those interviews, Rice erroneously blamed the attack on protests over an anti-Islam film. New emails indicate a White House adviser helped prep her for those appearances and pushed the "video" explanation -- and now, the White House is facing credibility questions after having downplayed their role in Rice's "talking points."

During a heated briefing with reporters Wednesday afternoon, Press Secretary Jay Carney repeatedly tried to claim that the so-called "prep call" with Rice -- as it was described in one email -- was not about Benghazi. The prep session, he said, was just about the demonstrations elsewhere in the Muslim world that week.

"It is not about Benghazi -- it is about the protests around the Muslim world," Carney claimed.

GOVERNOR O’MALLEY AND LT. GOVERNOR BROWN HIGHLIGHT COMMONWEALTH FUND REPORT SHOWING MARYLAND'S HEALTH CARE PROGRESS

The report spotlights the State's progress in bringing low-cost, high quality health care to more Marylanders

ANNAPOLIS, MD
– The Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation based in New York, issued a report comparing local, state, and national health systems. The report highlights the substantial progress Maryland has made over the last five years.

The report, “Aiming Higher: Results from a Scorecard on State Health System Performance, 2014,” is a report card on U.S. state health systems, based on a comprehensive analysis of access and affordability, prevention and treatment, healthy lives, and avoidable hospital use and cost. The report states that Maryland is one of only four states that “stand out for their net improvement across indicators.” The State improved in fourteen indicators, while only four indicators deteriorated, making Maryland only one of two states to have a +10 differential. Additionally, Maryland was one of five states that improved on ten or more indicators of health equity, rising from a rank of 30 to a rank of 12.

“Through better choices, Maryland continues to make great strides in health care and in bringing low-cost, high quality coverage to more Marylanders,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “Today’s news shows a lot of improvement, but our work is far from finished. We are focused on strengthening Maryland's middle class, and helping to lift families out of poverty -- continuing to ensure that more Marylanders have access to quality, affordable health coverage is a key ingredient of that effort.”

A Man Asks Mike Rowe For Life Advice. He Destroys His "Dream" In The Best Way Possible.

Mike Rowe is an actor and comedian best known as the host of The Discovery Channel's hit show, Dirty Jobs. Needless to say, he gets a ton of fan mail from people who wish to take the road less traveled in life...and one fan asked him how he might be able to find his "dream job." Mike's reply? Epic.

Hey Mike!

I’ve spent this last year trying to figure out the right career for myself and I still can’t figure out what to do. I have always been a hands on kind of guy and a go-getter. I could never be an office worker. I need change, excitement, and adventure in my life, but where the pay is steady. I grew up in construction and my first job was a restoration project. I love everything outdoors. I play music for extra money. I like trying pretty much everything, but get bored very easily. I want a career that will always keep me happy, but can allow me to have a family and get some time to travel. I figure if anyone knows jobs its you so I was wondering your thoughts on this if you ever get the time! Thank you!

LA NAACP Head Resigns Over Move To Honor Sterling

The president of the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP has resigned following outrage over a decision he later reversed to give Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling an award for promoting civil rights.

Leon Jenkins was to honor Sterling later this month, but rescinded that offer Monday after a recording surfaced over the weekend on which Sterling disparaged black men.

In a letter to the national leader of the nation's oldest civil rights organization, Jenkins wrote that he resigned Thursday "to separate the Los Angeles NAACP and the NAACP from the negative exposure I have caused."

These Four Talented Ladies Walked on Stage. What They Did Next Blew The Audience Away!

Salisbury City Council Work Session Agenda For May 5th 2014

The Very Ancient History of America

The excavations at Meadowcroft rock shelter by Professor James Adovasio on July 13, 1974, then of the University of Pittsburgh, proved that an ancient culture lived in southwestern Pennsylvania in at least 14,000 BC, some 5,000 years before people were believed to have set foot in this hemisphere. His first word on receiving the radio-carbon dating report of his artifacts was, “Damn!” because he knew this would create a firestorm in the archeological establishment. The dominant paradigm at the time was that Clovis hunter/gatherers were the first to reach North America by crossing the Bering Strait land bridge around 9,000 BC. They supposedly followed herds of game south from Siberia to present-day Alberta and then spread across the Americas in a very short time. This outdated thesis has been thoroughly dismantled in the past few years.

Other historians believe that the continent of Australia was settled via sea routes from Asia about 45,000 years ago which led to the hypothesis that early immigrants to North America also sailed from Asia and were not dependent on an ice free corridor between the glaciers. Their boats could have sailed along the west coast of North America when sea levels were much lower and their ancient encampments may now be under hundreds of feet of water off of the shoreline.Accepting either of these two possibilities, the common belief was that no one followed until the Vikings about 1,000 AD. This 10,000 to 15,000 BC period of isolation is illogical. The new evidence proves that, once “discovered,” the Americas became a destination for habitation, trade, colonization and escape.Many cultural remains or lack thereof offer clues. There are no artifacts resembling North American projectile point in Siberia but spear-heads from 13,000 BC in France are very similar. Some American skeletons date to 9,000 BC and are not typically Asian. DNA analyses now prove the early entry of European people to the Americas by 18,000 BC. DNA evidence also shows later arrivals during the so-called “isolation” period.

$150K Wrongful Termination Suit Filed Against Snow Hill

SNOW HILL — A former town Code Enforcement Office has filed suit against the Mayor and Council of Snow Hill and Mayor John “Charlie” Dorman specifically alleging he was wrongfully terminated after allegedly going against the mayor’s wishes and refusing to sign off on a building with a collapsing roof.

Former Snow Hill Code Enforcement Officer Thomas Gorman and his wife, through Salisbury-based attorney Robin Cockey, last week filed suit in Worcester County Circuit Court against the Mayor and Council and Dorman. The suit is seeking a combined $150,000 in damages, including $75,000 in compensatory damages and $75,000 in punitive damages.

The suit was filed in response to Gorman’s discharge in October 2012. The civil suit alleges Gorman was canned after not playing along with the mayor’s ambitious redevelopment plans for the downtown area, and more specifically for refusing to sign off on a certificate of occupancy for a dilapidated building with a partially collapsing roof.

House of Cards

According to the New York Times, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library, surviving LBJ staff members, and the Johnson family has launched a campaign to improve Johnson’s image as an ex-President. This effort includes batshit crazy first daughter Luci Bird Johnson, who will host a “Civil Rights Conference” at the LBJ Library in April. Ms. Johnson will also headline a Texas Bar Association Meeting in June. LBJ’s greatness has been subsumed by Vietnam, they contend.

Perhaps their timing is also affected by the portrayal of amoral, scheming and intrinsically evil Vice President Frank Underwood on Season Two of Netfix’s House of Cards. Can there be any doubt that Frank Underwood as played by Kevin Spacey is modeled after LBJ?

The folks at the taxpayer-subsided LBJ Presidential Library and the surviving members of the Johnson family must feel besieged from right and left. First came my New York Times bestselling book, The Man Who Killed Kennedy – the Case Against LBJ, in which I established that LBJ was a corrupt psychopath and serial murderer. I also used fingerprint and eyewitness evidence to show how a long-time LBJ hit man shot from the Texas Schoolbook Depository to kill John F. Kennedy. I make a compelling case that LBJ had unique motive, means and opportunity to kill Kennedy and did so to avoid criminal prosecution for corruption at the hand of Attorney General Robert Kennedy the exposure of which was imminent. RFK was within days of destroying LBJ with a LIFE Magazine expose into Johnson’s corruption as well as an RFK-fed Senate Rules Committee investigation into Johnson on the Bobby Baker scandal.

According to a recent column by Todd Starnes at Foxnews.com, Delores Dennison, 89, never went to her high school prom -- her family couldn't afford the expense, according to Starnes. Her great-grandson knew this, and a few months back, he called up "Granny DD" and posed the question.

Drop in Female Crabs in the Chesapeake Bay

The number of spawning-age female blue crabs in the Chesapeake Bay has dropped significantly, prompting marine officials in the Virginia and Maryland area to focus on protecting and building up the population.

According to an annual winter dredge survey by marine officials released Thursday, the number of spawning-age female crabs dropped below the minimum safe level of 70 million and are in a depleted state. While the number of juvenile crabs increased and last year's harvest remained at a safe level for the sixth consecutive year, officials say the total number of crabs remains comparatively low at about 297 million.

"This is disappointing news," Virginia Marine Resources Commissioner John Bull said in a news release. "We are now faced with two challenges: Conserving adult females ... and conserving this new generation of crabs in order to increase their chances of reproducing in even larger numbers next year."

We Just Saw The Biggest Explosion In Health-Care Spending In Over 30 Years, And It Had A Big Impact On GDP

Spending on health care grew an astounding 9.9% in the Bureau of Economic Analysis' advance estimate of first-quarter GDP.

It's the biggest percent change in health-care spending since 1980, when health-care spending jumped 10% in the third quarter. Analysts said it's primarily due to a consumption boost from the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Adjusted for inflation, America is spending more on health care than ever before.

Personal consumption grew by 3.0%, about half of which was due to the growth in health-care spending, said Ian Shepherdson, chief economist for Pantheon Macroeconomics.

"If health-care spending had been unchanged, the headline GDP growth number would have been -1.0%," Shepherdson said.

Holder’s Latest Scandal: DOJ Now Pressuring Banks to Refuse Service to Gun Stores

Operation Choke Point also targets other legal businesses for political reasons

Comment from Alex Jones:
This is a classic example of criminal racketeering. Holder is shutting down businesses just like the Nazis targeted the assets and later the companies of Jews in the 1930′s. The DoJ has been caught shipping guns to drug dealers, terrorists and gang members in Mexico under Fast and Furious, yet Holder is targeting legitimate, lawful gun shops. This is completely outside of the law and resembles the behavior of a dictatorship. Impeachment proceedings must begin immediately.

For the past several months, the U.S. Department of Justice has been pressuring banks to refuse service to businesses the DOJ is targeting politically, such as gun stores, in a program entitled Operation Choke Point.

Under the program, the DOJ, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder, is attempting to shut down various legal businesses, including firearm dealers, dating services, purveyors of drug paraphernalia and pornography distributors, by coercing financial institutions to close the bank and merchant accounts associated with these businesses.

The businesses targeted follow a 2011 Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation bulletin which lists all of the above legal activities and others as “merchant categories that have been associated with high-risk activity” involving “disreputable merchants.”

Muslim Imam in Tennessee PREACHES Jews & Christians Should Be Killed

What this famous and revered Imam, Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, preaches goes beyond hate speech… it’s a mission of purification through promoting a religious extermination order. This Imam openly preaches it and we’ve got it on tape.

Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi, a Memphis Imam based in Tennessee, preaches openly about what Islam truly is. He makes no bones about thinking that anyone other than a Muslim doesn’t deserve anything and are less than Muslims. In fact, part of Yasir Qadhi’s preaching includes rhetoric that says non-Muslims lives are forfeit and their property is legal for Muslims to take in jihad, (and this would include women as sex slaves) Recently Yasir Qadhi said that “Jews and Christians filthy, their lives and property can be taken in jihad by the Muslims.”

Yasir Qadhi is not only a Memphil Imam, but is is also the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Al-Maghrib Institute. He is a hafiz (has memorized the Qur’an) and he has an M.A. in the Islamic Creed and a B.A. in Islamic Sciences from Islamic University of Medina, as well as a master’s and a doctorate in Islamic Studies from Yale. During a lecture on Shirk, or polytheism, Yasir Qadhi said that Jews and Christians are mushrikoon, or polytheists, because they have made partners with Allah. From Yasir Qadhi’s perspective, only Muslims are monotheists.

He also claims that it is the responsibility of every single human being to bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and him alone. Now pay attention here. Yasir Qadhi now will tell you what the result and command that stems from this twisted principle.

Emails Point to Ben Rhodes as Key to Benghazi Talking Points

A year ago, Ed Lasky of the American Thinkerspeculated that White House security official Ben Rhodes – a speechwriter with no prior national security experience or expertise – was at the heart of the Benghazi scandal, specifically the false talking points spouted on Sunday news shows by former UN Ambassador (now National Security Advisor) Susan Rice that the Sep. 11, 2012 attack was a protest against a YouTube video.

Now, those speculations seem to have been confirmed by the release of a batch of emails obtained by Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Lasky quotes the emails, which pinpoint Rhodes as conducting a "prep" session for Rice on the Friday night before her Sunday morning media tour, with the goal “To underscore that these protests are rooted in [an] Internet video, and not a broader failure [of] policy.”

Desperate Democrats Have A Plan For 2014

AND ONE STRATEGIST KNOWS EXACTLY HOW THEY WILL IMPLEMENT IT …

Writing for his new Market Research Foundation organization, veteran electoral strategist Bill Wilson penned a column last week warning against “Republican” overconfidence heading into the 2014 midterm elections.

Wilson’s piece – “Don’t Believe The Spin: 2014 Elections Are Far From Settled” – drew extensively from his entity’s research in the 2013 Virginia governor’s race, which should have been a “Republican” romp. Why wasn’t it? According to Wilson’s analysis, Democrats turned out their core voters (especially blacks) using an aggressive, well-funded ground game – while simultaneously suppressing GOP turnout via a nasty air war.

Margotta recognized smoking on the beach was placed as a top priority action in Ocean City’s Strategic Plan effort as well as the decision is value-based of an individual.

Parole and Probation Budget REDUCED By $370,000.00

Division of Parole and Probation
Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
Note: Numbers may not sum to total due to rounding.
Analysis of the FY 2013 Maryland Executive Budget, 2012

The fiscal 2013 allowance for the Division of Parole and Probation (DPP) is reduced by approximately $370,000 when compared to the fiscal 2012 working appropriation. Significant changes within the agency include a net savings of $71,000 for contractual temporary office assistance, offset by 19.9 contractual full-time equivalents (FTE). This reflects a departmental policy shift to utilize more contractual employees versus agency temps. Overall, personnel expenses for regular positions increase by a net $105,000.

Additionally, the agency allowance reflects a net savings of $216,000 due to the closure of the department-run urinalysis testing laboratory, offset by an increase in contractual urinalysis testing services.

Publishers Notes: While this may not seem very important to many of you, it should be. I have been stating for years, Wicomico County Parole and Probation is running off a shoe string budget. Many case officers are holding 600 cases at any given time and you cannot manage these criminals with such a load.

You can place a good amount of the blame on Delegate Norm Conway. He refuses to recognize the severity of this matter.

Ownership of Federal Land: Answers Suggested by the Bundy Standoff

The Bundy stand-off in Nevada has induced several people to ask me about the extent to which the federal government can own land, at least under the Constitution’s intended meaning. As it happens, in 2005 I studied the issue in depth, and published the following article: Federal Land Retention and the Constitution’s Property Clause: The Original Understanding, 76 U. Colo. L. Rev. 327 (2005).

In a nutshell, here’s what I found:

(1) Most commentators on the issue have staked out one of two polar positions. One position, which is current U.S. Supreme Court doctrine, is that the federal government may acquire and own any land it wishes for any governmental purpose, not just for its enumerated powers. The other polar position is that the federal government may own land only for the purposes enumerated in the Enclave Clause (the national capital and “Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings”) and that the “equal footing doctrine” requires that all other federal land within a prospective state be handed over the state government upon statehood.

(2) In fact, both polar positions are false—and very clearly so. This shines through when you study the Constitution’s text, meaning, and background. By “background,” I mean its drafting history, the ratification debates, 18th century law, and so forth. However the constitutional text alone should be sufficient to cast both polar claims into doubt. The text of the Constitution grants the federal government no plenary power to hold land, only to dispose. A general power to hold is just not in there. The second polar position is also contradicted by the text: The equal footing doctrine is not there either. (It was a feature of certain pre-constitutional documents, such as theNorthwest Ordinance.)

Getting jobs for ex-offenders key to keeping them from crime

Probation officers also play role despite heavy caseload

More than 10 years of Robert Wheeler’s life was spent locked in a California federal prison after he was convicted of multiple drug and weapon possession charges.

Upon his release roughly two years ago, Wheeler, 43, found himself without a job, without resources, the world utterly changed. He eventually landed a construction job, but his supervisor demanded as a caveat that Wheeler undertake a four-week training program for ex-offenders. Wheeler now credits that program with helping him gain the necessary professional skills so that he didn’t commit another crime.

State turns to outreach programs to reduce recidivism

Experts and advocates for prisoners say that providing offenders assistance immediately upon their release is the most infallible method of ensuring they don’t backslide. But those on the front lines of the recidivism battle — probation officers — are historically overworked and underpaid, leading the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to turn to supplemental programs to assist inmates. Those initiatives include connecting inmates with outside employment and educational opportunities, and an emphasis on attracting and training quality probation officers.

National Coalition Calls on Utah Governor to Stop Attack on Wild Horses

Salt Lake City, Utah - Today, representing millions of American citizens, the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign, a national coalition, its parent organization Return to Freedom, and its coalition partner The Cloud Foundation sent a letter to Utah Governor Gary Herbert in response to his attack on wild horses. Responding to public statements he made last week, the groups urged Governor Herbert to stop exaggerating the number of wild horses in Utah, stop scapegoating wild horses for range damage caused by private livestock, and drop suggestions that the state take over management of wild horses in Utah.

In their letter, the wild horse groups stated: “America’s wild horses and burros are the heritage of all Americans, and Americans overwhelmingly support maintaining and protecting these animals on our public lands. They must be managed in the interest of all Americans, not the few who view mustangs as competition for cheap, taxpayer-subsidized grazing on our public lands.“

The number of wild horses pales in comparison to the number of privately-owned livestock grazing on federal land in Utah, and the groups charged that by focusing attention on wild horses, Governor Herbert is “scapegoating wild horses for the damage to our public rangelands caused by livestock."

Minority Contractor Loses Bid To Build Center Honoring Minority Hero

A Dorchester County tourist attraction dedicated to preserving the legacy of Harriet Tubman on the Eastern Shore has drawn ire from a minority group contractor whose bid for the project was turned down.

Contractor Gilford Corporation, which is owned by an African-American, found its bid rejected because it failed to meet standards of a federal program designed to assist minority businesses. Gov. Martin O’Malley described this as “an irony on top of irony,” at the Wednesday Board of Public Works meeting.

Gilford submitted the lowest bid of $12.7 million to construct the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park Visitor Center in Dorchester County, $1.2 million lower than the winning bid.

A Viewer Needs Your Help

September 6, 2010 about 3:00 PM My Wife and I were involved in a Motorcycle accident on the Rt. 50 By-Pass 1 mile east of Naylor Mill Rd. There were many cars on the road that day.

We would love to hear from anyone that witnessed the accident. We realize we are very lucky to be alive. Months after the accident I found a Blog on SBYNEWS stating that a citizen was administering CPR on the driver of the motorcycle which would have been me, I don't remember anything about that but I do remember the completely reckless act that caused the accident. I am sure that anyone that saw it that day would not forget it. We would appreciate any contact from anyone that was traveling on the Salisbury By-Pass that day.

REDNECK LENT

Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a venison steak.

But, all of Bubba's neighbors were Catholic. And since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday.

The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest.

The Priest came to visit Bubba, and suggested that he become a Catholic.

After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass ... And as the Priest sprinkled holy water over him, he said, "You were born a Baptist, and
raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic.

Bubba's neighbors were greatly relieved, until Friday night arrived, and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood.

The Priest was called immediately by the neighbors, and, as he rushed into Bubba's yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and
watched in amazement.

There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted: "You wuz born a deer, you wuz
raised a deer, but now you is a catfish."

DOGS

Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him.

What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?"

The six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them;
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride;
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy;
Take naps;
Stretch before rising;
Run, romp, and play daily;
Thrive on attention and let people touch you;
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do;
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass;
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree;
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body;
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk;
Be loyal;
Never pretend to be something you're not;
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it;
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.
You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good, so, love the people who treat you right.

Think good thoughts for the ones who don't ~ life is too short to be anything but happy.

Falling down is part of LIFE...
Getting back up is LIVING...

God said to Adam

God said, "Adam, I want you to do something for Me."

Adam said,
"Gladly, Lord, what do You
want me to do?"

God said,
"Go down into that valley."
Adam said,
"What's a valley?"
God explained it to him.
Then God said,
"Cross the river."
Adam said,
"What's a river?"
God explained that
to him, and then said,
"Go over to the hill...."
Adam said,
"What is a hill?"
So, God explained to
Adam what a hill was.
He told Adam,
"On the other side of the
hill you will find a cave."
Adam said,
'What's a cave?'
After God explained,
He said,
"In the cave you will find a woman."
Adam said,
"What's a woman?'
So God explained
that to him, too.
Then, God said,
'I want you to reproduce."
Adam said,
"How do I do that?"
God first said (under
His breath), "Geez....."
And then, just like everything else, God explained that to
Adam, as well.
So, Adam goes down into
the valley,
across the river, and
over the hill,
into the cave, and finds the
woman.
Then,
in about five minutes, he was back.
God,
His patience wearing thin, said angrily,
"What is it now?"

And Adam said....

"What's a headache?"

Gandhi - absolutely brilliant

When Gandhi was studying law at the University College of London, there was a professor, whose last name was Peters, who felt animosity toward Gandhi, and because Gandhi never conceded to him in any disagreement, their "arguments" were very common.

One day, Mr Peters was having lunch at the dining room of the University and Gandhi came along with his tray and sat next to him. The professor, in his arrogance, said, "Mr Gandhi, you do not understand... a pig and a bird do not sit together to eat," to which Gandhi replied, "You do not worry professor, I'll fly away," and he went and sat at another table.

Mr. Peters, enraged, decided to take revenge on Gandhi on the next test, but Gandhi responded brilliantly to all questions. Then, Mr. Peters asked him the following question: "Mr. Gandhi, if you are walking down the street and find a package, and within it there is a bag of wisdom and another bag with a lot of money, which one will you take?

Without hesitating, Gandhi responded, "The one with the money, of course."

Mr. Peters, smiling, said, "I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom, don't you think?

"Each one takes what one doesn't have," responded Gandhi indifferently.

Mr. Peters, already hysterical, wrote on the exam sheet the word "idiot" and gave it to Gandhi.

Gandhi took the exam sheet and sat down. A few minutes later, Gandhi went to the professor and said, "Mr. Peters, you signed the sheet but you did not give me the grade."

America's Nine Classes: The New Class Hierarchy

Eight of the nine classes are hidebound by conventions, neofeudal and neocolonial arrangements and a variety of false choices.

There are many ways to slice and dice America's power/wealth hierarchy. The conventional class structure is divided along the lines of income, i.e. the wealthy, upper middle class, middle class, lower middle class and the poor.

I've suggested that a more useful scheme is to view America through the lens not just of income but of political power and state dependency, as a Three-and-a-Half Class Society (October 22, 2012):

The three-and-a-half class society is comprised of: the "entrenched incumbents" on top (the "half class"), the high-earners who pay most of the taxes (the first class), the working poor who pay Social Security payroll taxes and sales taxes (the second class), and State dependents who pay nothing (the third class).

This class structure has political ramifications. In effect, those paying most of the tax are in a pressure cooker: the lid is sealed by the "entrenched incumbents" on top, and the fire beneath is the Central State's insatiable need for more tax revenues to support the entrenched incumbents and its growing army of dependents.

A recent Foreign Policy article on China's New Class Hierarchy: A Guide inspired me to assemble America's nine classes.
